SNF 2017.06 - SNF: Mega Man Legends 3: Remastered

[Toggle Names]

Description: To nobody's surprise, Mega Man Legends 3 will be receiving a release on the 3 year old game 'Mega Man Legends 3' with a twist. Finally, people will get the chance to explore the world of Mega Man in full 3D virtual reality. The story of the game has Mega Man Volnutt returning to fight his greatest opponent yet: the organized forces of Genocide. With the terrible forces led by the mysterious Dr. S, Mega Man has to team up with the likes of Neito Ainola to defeat the dreaded Mousedyne Moon, all while the impending invasion of the Fourth Empire looms over them. Entering this virtual world, Rainbow Mika and Felicia will fight in the incredible futuristic world of Mega Man, and the mysterious Wily Castle. Since we couldn't get an actual castle of Wily, they will be exploring the virtual world with the backdrop of a real haunted castle at Transylvania! Of course, with Felicia already a Violet girl, she won't be getting anything from the company. But if Rainbow Mika wins, she will get a chance to become the next Violet Girl_ and a guest star to the new Violet Girl Fighters game coming soon to the V-Gage!

[RAINBOW MIKA]
Despite years of delays, continuity errors, KickStarter issues, corporate douchebaggery, and numerous other problems, Mega Man Legends 3 has finally seen a release! Since then, Capcom has managed to port a half-dozen times already with promises of everything from "enhanced HD graphics" to "exclusive DLC" to bonus artwork as part of a greater collection of games. Whatever the case, the latest port offers many of the same, but now with "REAL VR" courtesy of Violet Systems' patented N-GAGE peripheral.

So of course, to properly promote the game (and more importantly, the V-Gage), one of this week's events puts competitors head-to-head in game's midway point: a dilipidated Wily Castle, presently repurposed for the service of the MYSTERIOUS DR. S, MASTER OF SPACETIME. But of course, he's a later boss. For today's match, "Mega Man Volnutt" and his ally, the mysterious Neito Ainola, must face off against the dreaded MOUSEDYNE MOON in a dangerous stage filled with holographic monstrosities, unfair pitfalls, and unevenly spaced checkpoints.

Neito Ainola, Volnutt's ally for this part of the game, is a blonde, Russian-sounding woman with an unfeasible purple bodysuit and generous, almost cartoonish hips that have caused an unreasonable amount of internet rage in some circles. Diehard fans claim she's an unreasonable addition not suitable for the tone of the series. More saavy market analysts claim she's the latest cash-in on the fighting craze. Either way, she intermittently communicates with "Mega Man" via radio, only making the occasional physical appearance in dramatically appropriate moments. Lately, she has instead been giving "Mega Man" unhelpful warnings about easily avoidable mousetraps and hologram horrors as the traditional multi-segmented boss door approaches.

[FELICIA]
Felicia hadn't been quite sure about this N-GAGE VR stuff, in fact she didn't feel quite like playing videogames atm the moment, or doing much of anything--she was still reeling and nearly catatonic (pardon the pun) at what happened just recently when Lee sent her after Miguel.

Armed with megabuster, clad in blue armor with cat-ear adorned blue helmet, Mega Felicia was tromping through the stage right up to the boss doors, even as the 'Russian' (it was really Finnish, but it's not like any one would notice the difference, lets be fair) popped up every few moments to whine at her and tell her about some easily avoidable trap--wasn't there an option to turn off navi-mode or just not hit select if she didn't have to hear her talk?? Worse than Alia, that one. Well, they were both blonde...

Coming into contact with the boss doors paused everything around her and she was locked in her pose until she moved in slow-mo through to the other side--coming down with little cute 'poik' noises from her blue booted feet. What the hell was this now?? Some kind of boss room?

[RAINBOW MIKA]
The boss doors open with a steady clank-clank-clank noise as they raise, exposing the boss room before Mega-Cat. The room is a big, open area. A highly detailed background seems to indicate fierce activity, but always remains somehow out of reach. In front of her, however, is--Rainbow Mika? Well, someone who looks like Rainbow Mika, if Mika dressed in black, purple, and gold armor with excessive shoulder black shoulderpads and purple facepaint under her eyes. She seems to be talking with her colleague.

"Don't these guys get wrestling at all? I'm not supposed to be the heel!" Mika protests, arms crossed. "This isn't good for my image!"

Mika-Bass pokes at one of her pigtails, somehow armored into a fin. "What is this helmet even supposed to be, anyway??"

[FELICIA]
"Aw Man, I didn't think Bass's outfit could /hold/ Rainbow Mika!" Mousedyne Moon opens a window nearby Mega-Felicia in navi-mode and begins to peanut gallery, of course leaning out of it it with her hands on the edges and pointing directly at Mika-Bass. Felicia just sort of stares ahead at Mika, her expression almost blank, except for the idle bewilderment at the absurdity of the situation.

"It looks like Rule-63 Bass had too much to eaaaat~" Mousedyne continues. "Well, moreso than Bass already did, heyooo!" the heckling continues. Because that is how Mouse rolls.

"Urgh, lets get this over with," Felicia raises her blue armcannon and gets ready to fire her plasma shooter at Mika-Bass, peppering the area around her.

"Hey!!" Mikna Bass calls back to Mousedyne, "I'm /dense/ from the intensity of pro-wrestling training!" She completely missese the double meaning of her statement, rolling on with it at full-steam. "Aren't you supposed to be like, an assist instead of the peanut gallery?!"

And then Mika turns, seeing plasma shots flying at her. She throws up her arms to block the incoming, be no stranger to fireballs, but in the real-world Mika instead finds herself pelted with high-speed tennis balls from a novelty Mega Buster. Even so, they still smart!

And it's here that Mikna Bass should ready her own arm-cannon and return fire. For better or worse, she does not. Shooting people with plasma is anathema to a melee build like her! (Doubly so without MARAUDER PARTS, the latest OP premium item available in in-game shop). Instead, Mikna Bass breaks into a sprint. As she goes, the steady tick of filling health meters echoes through both of their headsets. As she nears Mega-Cat, however, she spins on her heels, coming to a near stop as she pivots around and launches herself butt-first toward the Blue Bo--Russian Blue Bomber?

Neito unhelpfully pops open in a separate window, narrating with a subdued, almost bored tone. "Watch out for her special attack, Mega-Cat. It deals high damage with her--" Neito checks the script. "Is that right? Yeah. She's going to hit you with her ass."

COMBATSYS: Rainbow Mika successfully hits Felicia with Shooting Peach.

"Oh she's thicc alright! D'ohoho!" Mousedyne has to duck and the window blips out to avoid Mika-Bass's now flying ass, which impacts Mega Felicia and knocks her right into the wall. Gah, impact damage!

"Oh boy, it was an ALLURING HIT, WITH HER BUTT, who wrote that into this system?!" Mousedyne blinks back on as Felicia peels herself off the wall, briefly flickering into what looks like pixels before reforming. Felicia shakes her head shakes the yellow chicks that were floating around her head and begins to charge up that blue mega cat buster of hers, trying to blow Mika-Bass back and away from her!

Mikna-Bass's backside collides heavily Mega-Cat, prompting Capcom to edit the animation before release. After it does, she lands back on her feet with a cartoony 'twhump' noise of her boots. Even as Mikna Bass turns around, however, Mega-Cat is already charging a plasma shot. This one collides with her target directly, with Mikna-Bass throwing her chest forward to take the impact. The plasma shot collides heavily before being repelled, bouncing up and off the screen. Mikna-Bass staggers forward anyway, taking advantage of dreaded BOSS INVULNERABLE FRAMES to advance on Mega-Cat despite her counterattack!

And it's from there that Mikna-Bass reaches out to try and grab Mega-Cat by her oversized boots! If she gets a good hold, she pulls the catgirl's legs out from under her, winds up, and swings her around in a manic tornado. The VR actually generates a wind-effect, making the typhoon look much more literal than Mika's standard variant. After all, the effect is far too tame for the series otherwise!

"Try and stay out of range of Mikna-Bass's deadly throws," Neito says, still with limited interest.

COMBATSYS: Rainbow Mika successfully hits Felicia with Rainbow Typhoon.

Mega-Felicia goes spinning and flying up into the air as Mika-Bass throws her into a Tornado Hold, coming down and splatting face first against the floor of the boss room. Her form actually expands as she hits the ground all cartoony like, as befits the medium.

"Holy crap that was a lot of damage! It's so /broken/, Who coded this thing, Dan?!?" Mousedyne continues to peanut gallery as she appears in a window nearby Neito, reaching over to point a long-nailed finger at her. "And speaking of thunder thighs, this one here gives Chun-Li a run for her money! Her milkshake WOULD bring all the boys to the yard if she hadn't inhaled in 2.5 seconds!!"

Meanwhile, Mega-Cat pulls herself up and checks the number of blocks on the energy meter set into her arm-cannon, before looking back at Mika-Bass and beginning to spin herself into a roll, zipping towards Mika-Bass and attempting to pull off a super fast series of punches and kicks!

Pocket Fighter, eat your heart out!

COMBATSYS: Rainbow Mika endures Felicia's Dancing Flash.

Mikna-Bass staggers back, taking two backsteps as she regains her balance. Little flying robo-dogs resembling Treble circle her head as she shakes off the dizziness from the spin. "Yeah!" Mika says, unable to help herself. She pumps a fist in front of her in triumph. WIth her costume, it /almost/ looks sinister. Almost.

But before she can rest on her laurels, Mega-Cat goes back on the offensive! The ball spins toward Mikna-Bass with sounds legally distinct from the Sonic Spin Dash noise before the ferocious blue-armored catgirl tears into Mikna Bass with a flurry of punches, kicks, and claw-swipes. On the last hit she gets launched backwards, sending her crashing into the far wall with a flicker. In the aftermath her bodysuit has been torn into and her armor partly removed, leaving her looking much worse for the wear. She gets up, holding one hand against her shoulder despite all the damage elsewhere. Within five minutes, video game news outlets carry the announcement of "Battle Damaged Mikna Bass" being added to the in-game store or as a pre-order bonus with some retailers. Textboxes provide helpful subtitles, with a steady, near-obnoxious beeping filling out each letter as it goes.

"..."
"You're a lot stronger than I thought! I guess I'm going to have to go all out and show the full power of MUSCLE SPIRIT!"

Mikna-Bass glows purple, a steady whirr of a charging noise starting up with a low hum as she gathers energy. This may be Mega-Cat's chance to strike!

Neito rolls her eyes at Moondyne, ignoring the thunder thighs and milkshake comments for now. "Watch out, Mega Cat," Neito chimes in, sounding distracted by this point. "She's gathering energy for a special attack."

COMBATSYS: Rainbow Mika excites the crowd!

"Hey, it's her fault for choosing me as her navigator! Shit gets meta with this meece!" Moondyne announces, watching Mega-Fel begin to rushdown and combo the shit out of Mika-Bass over there, then winds up panting and looking a bit worn out as she applies all that hurt to Mika only to have her begin glowing with dark super saiyan energies!

"Aww--I didn't know Mika had psycho crusher power! Wonder where she stores the extra brain-mass--in her glutes?!" Mousedyne looks to be huddling down to take cover even as Mega-Felicia is left to figure out what to do. Mega-Fel opts for a jumping grab attack, trying to scratch and tear the hell out of Mika-Bass before she can do much with that amassed Dark Bun Energy!

"GEE GUYS I WONDER HOW SHE'S 'EXCITING' THE CROWD, HUH, WINK WINK." Mousedyne snickers from her portal window.

COMBATSYS: Rainbow Mika fails to interrupt Scratch Attack from Felicia with Rainbow Suplex.

[RAINBOW MIKA]
Mikna Bass continues charging and glowing, but neither laughing darkly or crashing. As she hits the peak of power, Mega-Fel rushes in with a furious scratching and rending. Mikna Bass tries to intercept, moving to intercept Mega-Fel and lock her into a dangerous (DARK) RAINBOW SUPLEX. As she reaches though, the drama level hits maximum, somehow repeating the karma of inappropriate combat timing. Such is the Law of Bass.

Mega-Fel's scratches hit home, intercepting the attack and knocking Mikna-Bass with the staggering power of a weakness hit! Mikna-Bass staggers backward, with a yell, her life meter rapidly depleting!

[FELICIA]
"Ouch, looks like Macro Mika left herself unguarded, commence the attack!" Some 'helpful' navigator Mousedyne is, after Mega-Felicia uncouples with Mika-Bass as she does a gainer off her and bounces back from her. Mega-Fel winds up leaving reddish cross-hatch marks over Mika's front, which would be bad news if she wasn't so heavil armored there right now!

Mustering her strength, Mega-Cat dashes in, her face almost completely blank except for a grim determination of sorts. Was her spirit broken after the run-in with Miguel, or is she just running on some kind of survival instinct...?

She attempts to grab Mika-Bass and spin around her, slashing her like an apple peeler as she goes and tries to throw at the end. It looks pretty painful.

[RAINBOW MIKA]
"Hey!!" Mikna-Bass protests, "aren't you supposed to be on my side?! Sheesh!" Her wardrobe takes even more damage, and in doing so, Capcom subtly raises the prices on the DLC costume. The horror.

Still undeterred, Mikna-Bass steadies herself, ready to do her best to stand against whatever attack Felicia throws at her next. She rubs her forearm across her face to clear some stray blood--or is that "mechfluid"--and assumes a defensive stance.

When Felicia latches onto her, she throws up her guard, bringing her arms closely to her chest and face. Mega-Fel spins round and round her, scratching her all too pieces, but Mikna-Bass at least manages to weather it in a guarded stance.

And once Mega-Fel withdraws, Mikna Bass lowers down, ready to charge in. "Take this!" she says, in an uncharacteristically boss-tell way, before charges forward with a flash of dashjets toward Mega-Fel. She swings forward with an elbow, then another, then another, each trailed by suitably colorful trails of plasma. Provided it connects, Mikna-Bass then spins around and launches herself, rear-first and engulfed in an aura of purple plasma, like some sort of rear-facing meteor!

Mega-Fel takes the dashing attack, bringing up her elbows to take most of the kinetic force out of the attack--her arm damaged, she pulls back with her arm-cannon and it charges up--unleashing--a round glowing plasma ball?!

It bounces up and down much like a bubble, before Mega-Fel dashes toward Mika-Bass and the ball--lashing out with one hand in a characteristic 'paw swipe' motion to burst the plasma ball right in front of Mika-Bass, showering her with energy!

"Uh oh ladies and gentleman, Mika is about to become catfood! Now with 40 percent more dumb blonde! D'ohoho~" Mousedyne chimes in.

[RAINBOW MIKA]
Mikna-Bass slams against Mega-Fel, striking the Cat Bomber for multiple hits against her block and causing the screen to flicker with each one. When it ends, Mikna-Bass lands with a heavy thwup. She hops back slightly, thankfully away from Mega-Fel lest she inflict more touch damage. Unfortunately for Mikna-Bass, she's the one at risk of incoming damage, as Mega-Fel launches a giant ball! Mikna-Bass seems genuinely confused by this predicament--up until just a moment too late to do anything about the explosion of plasma directly into her face! It hits her with such an impact that she goes flying backwards, smacking the far end of the stage with a clunk and depleting the rest of her life meter.

After it does, both meters disappear as Mikna-Bass rises to her feet, clutching an arm and sparking with electricity around her damaged armor. "I won't...lose..." she says, before surging with a purple aura once more as she gains renewed fighting spirit! She launches forward again in another meteor-like hip strike, threatening to slam into Mega-Fel. A two-stage boss?! That's not fair!

But as she flies through the air, there's a sudden whistle. In truth, it sounds a bit more like a kazoo. A dark blue beam descends from above and NEITO AINOLA appears between Mikna Bass and Mega-Fel. She is presently holding an blue barrel with a giant "E" on in black lettering.

"I brought you this subtank," Neito says to Mega-Fel. Her voice-actor is still phoning it in. "I hope I'm not too late."

It's at this point that Mikna Bass reaches her destination--sort of. She collides solidly with Neito's backside, causing the Russian (Finn? No one knows) to inch slightly forward. Between Mika's weakened state, and the vastness of Neito's understanding, she seems undamaged. Mikna-Bass falls to the ground, exhausted.

"Excuse me," Neito says simply, before dropping backward onto Mika. Mika looks horrified before there's an explosion of blue rings and a distinct PEW PEW PEW noise, sealing the match for Felicia.

That is, save for some jazzy music that starts playing.

Mega-Fel grabs the subtank, grateful for it as she uses it to stabilize herself--while meanwhile Neito takes on the Stage 2 Boss Mikna-Bass and sits on her, apparently causing her to explode and ending the battle.

Felicia holds up her arm-cannon after Mika-Bass E-rings, jumping up into the air as she begins to absorb them all in a series of pulses.

YOU GOT

RAINBOW FIGURE

Felicia looks down at first surprised, then scowls as her armor and bodyshape reformats itself--gaining a huge boost in the chest, waist and butt areas. Her armor also shifts to a pale blue and white color scheme, because well, it's Mika, after all. She does look a helluva lot more curvy and athletic, but the cat is unamused. Mega-Fel growls a bit, before sighing and then explodes into a thousand blue and white pixels, teleporting out of the boss room.

Far away on a message board, an unhappy user posts about the unfairness of the new DLC copy system yielding TWO weapon abilities. It contains many swear words, statements about pay to win. Someone replies that at least it's better than Mighty No. 9.
