Circuit of Champions - PFW: Western Champion - Aranha vs Nightwolf

Description: The Dancing Spider and the Sin Eating Wolf have their rematch as Aranha challenges Nightwolf for the Western Champion Belt! Although it seems like a regular professional fighting match, there may be more hidden intrigue than there initially appears. <Winner: Nightwolf>

Upon finding out that Nightwolf had won the Western Champion belt, it made the Dancing Spider curious as to how well he would compete on the world stage. Especially since he had fought him before. There was a bit of him that wondered how much the Native American improved and so he challenged him. Unfortunately there were delays in ability to make the match happen some of it having to do with activities each fighter had to perform outside of organized fighting, sometimes due to missed connections. Eventually they managed to get in contact with each other and then locations came up. Aranha knew he had the heist coming up and so asking for it to be in Cannes gave him an excuse to be there. He decided to take full advantage of it.

This is what brings the Dancing Spider to the Cannes Waterfront as a large crowd gathers to see a championship bout. Concessions are set up for refreshments in addition to near by stores enjoying a boost in sales from the gathered crowd. He rolls his neck and stretches before taking off his button down shirt. The announcer announces him as the challenger and he leaps over metal partition arranged in a circle separating the crowd from the fighting area. He then he waits for the champion, sure to get louder applauses than this relative unknown.

Quite so, even if this battle had long been coming, there had been some decidedly obnoxious complications in the way of it. As much as Nightwolf was intrigued by the concept of defending his newly acquired champion belt, he had pressing secret duties to attend to with the Society, all those hordes of Darkstalkers laying waste to the European countryside and mad Gears running rampage didn't leave much in the way of professional fighting.

In the end, however, where others would simply relinquish the hold they have on the belt to attend to more demanding duties, Nightwolf is and always has been a warrior, and fighting is what he does best.

At long last the meeting is set and the Sin Eater appears in his usual dramatic fashion. A beam of moonlight shines down upon the arena where Nightwolf materializes from thin air, appearing in front of his opponent. The shaman remembers Aranha well, his very first taste of professional fighting, how fitting that they would meet each other again here in the big leagues.

"Well met, Dancing Spider. I was wondering when we would run into each other again."

The skinwalker approaches the center of the arena and cracks his neck, dressed now as he was once before in that underground fighting club. Shirtless, clad in deer skins pants, moccasins and with his signature blue bandanna with two eagle feathers pointing down.

"This time I will not fall prey to your tricks."

What a hell of an entrance!

If there's any jealousy over Nightwolf's completely showing up his entrance Aranha doesn't show it. (He's not.) Being as he is the challenger, he's not expected to come up with a crazy entrance and as long as it makes it fun for the other fighter and the audience, he's all for it. There's butterflies in his stomach and a bit of restlessness to him. It's not unlike how he felt when he pulled his first job. He bounces on the balls of his feet for a few moments takes a deep breath and pushes it aside. Time to get to business.

The officials give word for the fight to start and his lips pull upward into a slight grin. "Who says you've seen all of my tricks?" His body, almost unbidden, just flows into his swaying dance as he closes the distance. He swings out a couple of snap kicks to the shoulder and head in an attempt to feel out his opponent.

"And I'm just as curious to see how much you've progressed since the last time we fought."

COMBATSYS: Nightwolf blocks Aranha's Snap Kick.

The shaman also adopts a fighting stance when the officials give the call to start. He eases into a Tae Kwan Do stance, standing slightly sideways with his hands open and close to his hips. Despite his apparent penchant for the kick happy Korean martial art, Nightwolf's style is decidedly different from Aranha's fluid Capoiera. Not to say that he's rigid and unmoving, but he holds his ground a lot in stark difference to his opponent. Clearly the Sin Eater prefers for opponent's to come to him.

It's what people will likely deduce when Nightwolf responds in a conservative fashion and brings his arms up defend himself, stopping Aranha's kicks with his open palm and as he shifts backwards to give himself some room.

"Oh, I am certain I have not seen your full potential just yet, warrior."

For now, the shaman seems a bit less bestial than the last time Aranaha saw him. Rather than start channeling the spirits around him, he goes for a more direct tactic and forms an energy axe to his hand.

"Likewise, trickster. Let this be our challenge for each other!" Says the Apache as he swings that energy axe in a quick arch to slice at the side of Aranha's jaw.

COMBATSYS: Aranha dodges Nightwolf's Tomahawk Smash.

Aranha           1/-------/=======|-------\-------\0        Nightwolf

Aranha's kicks were to feel the Native American out and get an idea where they both stood. He's just as skilled as before, a bit less bestial, and a bit more cerebral which could be a good thing or a bad thing. He'd need a bit more information before he knew for certain.

Aranha watches as that axe comes into being and the capoeirista decides that he wants no part of that. Just because Aranha's covered in scars doesn't mean he'll try to shrug off the weapon. He's lived as long as he has because he's relatively selective of the attacks that he lets touch him. He leans backwards under the tomahawk swing, dropping into a back bridge and then kicking himself up and over, with his feet barely missing the shaman.

He scrambles low on the ground and then elevates himself into a handstand and then delivering a flurry of kicks downwards upon Nightwolf's head and then tilting out of it and landing in a crouch.

Nightwolf gives a grunt of annoyance when the axe swing misses his opponent's head. He is just as fast as he remembers, if not more considering that last time he was at least able to nick him with one of his chops.

In this close proximity, the warrior senses that he's in a bad position and begins to back away, though not fast enough to avoid the helicopter kicks that strike him on the side of the face. Nightwolf clenches his jaw and staggers backwards, rubbing his chin in both pain and thoughtfulness.

Looks like he won't be able to take it easy, after all the monsters he's been fighting lately he thought he could relax a bit with some professional fighting, but facing Aranha is never a walk in the park as he's starting to understand.

The Sin Eater rolls his head on his shoulders and raises his hands to the sides, beginning to take a deep breath with his mouth open. Aranha would recognize it for what is considering he's done this before. Red energy begins to flow from the air and into the shaman's face to empower him, his muscles growing bigger, and his teeth sharpening.

Aranha indeed recognizes what the Sin Eater is doing and it hasn't gotten any less unnerving since the last time he saw him do that. A red, mist like energy is emitted from his body as well contributing a signicant portion of energy to the shaman and the bewildered Dancing Spider frowns at this. "I don't what you're doing but I'm not sure I like this."

He takes a deep breath and then continues his dance, carefully moving into range and swaying side to side as he maintains a constantly moving target. And then he takes to the air with commitment. It was brash, and maybe borderline insane, but even still he was taking this risk with a plan in mind.

His body curls up and then pushes outwards as he attempts to deliver a two footed drop kick to the Sin Eater's center of mass. He was attempting to slam into him and what was an unusual tactic for the Dancing Spider, bowl him over with brute force.

Aranha           1/----===/=======|=====--\-------\0        Nightwolf

"Trust me..." The shaman suddenly gets a wolfish grin about him (no punt intended). "It'll be great."

Urged by the evil energy that he has consumed, Nightwolf definitely acts a lot more.. aggressive after he has taken a sip from the sins around him. His stoic demeanor is momentarily gone as he quickly adopts a more bold fighting style, as if possessed by the wolf spirit within him.

This time, Nightwolf doesn't hold his ground when Aranha dances his way towards him. As soon as the Dancing Spider makes his leaping double kick, the Sin Eater is sliding forward and veering slightly to the left. The kicks brush right past the shaman's chest and as the Capoerista sails right past him, the Apache is raising his hands up to summon two glowing green daggers on his hands to double stab Aranha on his legs, like a matador.

There's good news for Aranha and bad news. Good news is that by doing something so utterly and unbelievably reckless(at least on paper) he was forcing Nightwolf to move away from where he drew all of the energy leaving a small amount of red mist in the air unconsumed. The bad news was he was unable to truly disrupt his balance and so he just barely glances off the larger fighter. This leads to worse news. Aranha getting stabbed in the legs. Capoeiristas /hate/ getting stabbed in the legs.

Aranha ends up collapsing to the ground with blood seeping into his white pants. He slowly rises to his feet and then makes his way over to the Native American with gritted teeth and then charges in head first much like a bull and then violently whips head upwards in an attempt to catch Nightwolf in the chin before dropping low and grabbing his ankles and pulling them from under his body and letting him drop to the ground.

Aranha           1/----===/=======|======-\-------\0        Nightwolf

Nightwolf knows perfectly well that Capoeristas hate getting stabbed in the legs..

That's why he keeps doing it.

Hunters know that flighty prey such as Aranha rely on their maneuverability a lot to deflect and avoid incoming attacks. By crippling Aranha's legs somewhat, Nightwolf is ensure that the capoerista has to rely on more orthodox techniques to attack him, and he sees that instantly when his opponent goes for the head butt and feet sweeping.

The shaman still has to defend himself though, although fortunately its not one of those super confusing hand stand moves and is easier to deal with it. The skin walker brings a hand up to stop Aranha by the forehead and then makes a short hop to avoid getting thrown on his back. That close though its harder for the wolf to maneuver and the Apache seeks to push the spider away by swinging a quick left jab to his nose.

Aranha           1/------=/=======|======-\-------\0        Nightwolf

Aranha knows that jab is coming in fast. His legs are still burning somewhat from the stabs to the leg but he's still relying just being a little bit faster than the Native American. Unfortunately he's just a little out of position. His timing is just barely off and just as he goes to leap at Nightwolf with glowing palms engulfed in blue chi, he gets popped right on the cheek bone instead of the already deformed nose and while it didn't hurt much, it was just enough to disrupt his concentration.

The blue chi dissipates, lost in the ether as the capoeirista takes a step back, shakes his head, rolls his shoulders. He was realizing that he made the mistake of letting his emotions control him and now, he needed to tap into them in a cold manner or else he was going to let his opponent run the show. And as much as those daggers hurt, the emotional reaction to being stabbed in the legs hurt him significantly more.

When in a fight, missing by an inch might as well be missing by a mile. Nightwolf realizes that's what happened now when Aranha leaps towards him to catch him while his jabbing only to accidentally run head first into extended fist.

The Apache arches an eyebrow, he hadn't intended for that to happen, but recognizing a mistake on his opponent's part is just the opportunity he needs to switch the momentum in his favor.

With the distance created by the jab and Aranha staggering backwards, Nightwolf creates another chi axe to his hand and hurls it towards his opponent. The burning green blade spins in the air to land on the Capoerista's chest.

COMBATSYS: Nightwolf successfully hits Aranha with New Earth.

Aranha wasn't given much time to get his mind right before that axe comes spinning in. He only manages to spin with it causing him to get delayed slightly before coming back in to get back in the shaman's face.

He takes a moment to glance at where the chi axe hit him before he manuevers in carefully and then he hops to the side delivering a side kick to the Sin Eater's ribs.

"Not bad."

Aranha knew this fight wasn't going to be easy. Nightwolf is pushing him to the limits. A little part of him wonders if he'll even be in shape for the heist.

What heist!?

Let's hope Aranha isn't planning to do anything bad otherwise Nightwold wouldn't be too happy!

Actually, he probably won't care all things considered, material needs have never been the Apache's concern. Not when there are far more important things to consider.

Like the survival of Earthrealm for instance.

Thanks to all the distance he's managed to put between him and the Capoerista, Nightwolf is able to defend himself properly from the side thrust kick by curling his bicep and taking the blow on his arm. He pushes on his back heel to hold his footing and narrows those blank white eyes of his to the Capoerista. "Not bad yourself, warrior. You've improved since we last fought."

"And yet you are still so very far away from your true limits." Nightwolf makes a quick dash backwards and begins to channel energy into himself. Who knows, maybe this time he'll actually hold still and drink it instead of pouncing Aranha when he's trying to charge him.

"I know of a certain way you can improve yourself and purge that darkness that lurks within your soul at the same time."

"Wait wha?"

Darkness in his soul? He wonders what the Native American is going on about. He wonders if that's what that red mist supposed to be that seems to be getting pulled out of his body and if that's the case it would explain why on some level seeing that sin getting pulled from his body is somewhat disturbing to him.

"What are you talking about?" The disbelief is practically dripping from his voice. His dance pauses for just a moment. But then he brings himself back into the moment.

He twists as he plants his hands on the ground a swings a roundhouse kick right for Nightwolf's head.

Nightwolf can explain as he fights... Right?

Oh, totally. Nightwolf strongly prefers not to talk while he's fighting, but it is his duty as the speaker of the Society to recruit strong fighters in the defense of Earthrealm, and he has learned that there's no better time to do said recruiting whilst in the midst of kombat.

In fact, Nightwolf should consider start talking in mid fights more often, since it seem to increase his concentration. As the capoerista surges into the attack, the shaman brings a hard side block upwards to crash his forearm against Aranha's sheen and push the leg out of the way, looking as if he did it out of reflex, not realizing what he had done since his focus is clearly on Aranha's face right now.

"Fear not, it is not the practice of consuming dark energy which I wish to pass onto you." Nightwolf is heard muttering something about not wishing that one anyone.

"I form part of a secret Society, sworn to fight protect this world against the forces of darkness and bring equality to all."

"I can see that there is true goodness in your soul and it has been a matter of circumstance that has forced you to take more dubious roads to survive."

"Join me and we will not only put your power to betterment of all, but you shall be rewarded by the spirits and be granted powers such as mine!"

To prove exactly what he means, Nightwolf brings his hands over his head as if he was holding a ball. Power begins to swell inside his palms and the crackle of thunder soon follows as a lighting bolt shoots out of the shaman's hands and into Aranha's chest.

"Hoka Hey!!"

Aranha           1/=======/=======|=======\=====--\1        Nightwolf

Aranha is almost as fast as lightning. Almost, being the operating word here. He hears that shout and leaps backwards. He /almost/ gets far enough away that he doesn't get hit by lightning.

"AY AY AY AY AY AY!"

That's the sound that Aranha makes when he gets electricuted for a short moment. He shakes his head.

"If that's what getting tazed feel like, I want no part of that."

Aranha's body slowly weaves in as he tries to get in closer and then he skips forward as he spins lashing out with a blue chi roundhouse kick followed by a spinning jump kick likewise engulfed with blue chi, the momentum of which turns his back towards him for just an instant right before he flips backward as he slams his foot down upon the Native American's head.

"No offense, but eating the darkness of others strikes me as kinda creepy. Just sayin..."

Almost fast as lighting is much better than considerably slower. Nightwolf gives a soft smirk when he sees Aranha barely able to dodge the lightning strike, not out of sadistic glee because he nicked the younger man (although I guess that could be argued) but because the Capoerista must have quite a bit of skill to be able to evade the worst of said attack.

Unfortunately for Aranha, being that far away from Nightwolf and then charging him gives him enough time to calculate his defense. The roundhouse thrown at him is slapped out of the way with a vicious backhand, and Aranha may notice that in so doing it, Nightwolf sucked out all of the blue chi that engulfed the kick. The spinning kick receives the same treatment as Nightwolf catches it and sucks the energy out, and as Arahnha makes a backflip to land on Nightwolf's head, the Apache brings his hands up to catch the Capoerista again and hold him over his head, it almost look like some kind of circus act.

Much better than the ones done by Honoka, that's for sure.

"None taken." Answers the shaman as he returns Aranha's energy back to his body forcefully, electrocuting him for real this time, before grabbing him by the ankles and slamming him face first against the ring's mat.

"Consider my offer. You are a formidable warrior, Dancing Spider. Our Society would be that much stronger if you were to join us."

"And so would you."

Aranha started off well but once Nightwolf broke his rhythm, the young capoeirista couldn't really get anything going again. He's being pushed up against the wall and he realized that he had to push himself to the utmost limit if he was going to pull this off.

His entire body begins to glow blue. His breathing begins to pick up. His eyes burst wide open which is then subsequently followed by a look of intensity. And then he becomes a blur.

He darts around the fighting area leaping from the metal barrier to the shaman, bouncing back and forth like a rogue ball of flubber as he delivers kicks from every direction possible. The cameras and most of the crowd have trouble keeping up with the traceur's speed and agility.

Aranha           1/-------/<<<<<<<|>>>>>>>\>>>>>>>\2        Nightwolf

Nightwolf wasn't kidding when he told Aranha he wouldn't fall for his tricks again.

The last they fought, Nightwolf had gotten careless and attacked the capoerista out of desperation. Before then he had seldom fought against humans before and demons were not as tricky as this young dancing thief can be.

This time around, Nightwolf's experience against human opponents has definitely increased, he can see through the ploy of Aranha to bring his guard down by throwing blurring and confusing attacks. In fact, Nightwolf has had the perfect sparring partner of shadowy assaults in the form of Kiyomi. It would be difficult for someone even as a adept at the art of confusion as Aranha to match kitsune magic.

That is why when Aranha unleashes his flurry of blows, the shaman opts again for the more conservative decision of bracing himself against the onslaught by curling his upper body up like a boxer and taking the rain of strikes on his arms, shoulders and back.

"Come! Throw everything you have at me! I want to see the humanity's fullest potential!"

Aranha's glowing aura just dissipates but the alertness in his eyes are still there. His body is still somewhat twitchy as the adrenaline courses through his veins. Which makes the capoeirista have difficulty with standing still but he forces himself to do so.

He focuses on the determination to finish this fight in a strong fashion. He begins to sing softly in Portuguese.

"Mas hoje tem amanha não."

Today you have and tomorrow you don't. Aranha doesn't have it today, but that's alright. He still put on a good display even if he couldn't pierce Nightwolf's defenses.

Another fierce grin flashes across Nightwolf's visage when Aranha holds still after delivering his barrage of attacks. It is not surrender that he sees on the dance fighter, but grim determination, focus on doing his very best to the very end.

That is something that Nightwolf admires greatly, for he too has been in that position many times.

He knows how it feels to fight with your back against the wall and nowhere to go but forward into waiting blades.

He too begins to chant, though interestingly enough in Lakota rather than Jicarilla Apache. "Tunka cela o'cici'elo.." Greatly empowered by all the energy he has channeled out of the screaming crowd and of Aranha himself, the red glow surrounding him begins to glow white, as does his eyes and the inside of his mouth, as if he had light inside of his body.

"Onsimalayu!! Omaki'ayo!!" With a mighty warcry, the Apache launches himself at the steadfast Capoerista, bringing both glowing palms forward to blast a massive wave of holy energy at Aranha and consume the young man's body.

Aranha probably deep inside knew that his was forgone conclusion. He just wanted to hold out. Just hold out long enough to land one telling blow before he went down. But then beam of light consumes him as he tries to cover up and just blows through his defenses. He lets out a piercing scream that forces most of the spectators to cover their ears as his and the sins of the spectators are turned against him. His particular sins are probably what make it so potent against him

When the massive wave of energy fades out, he's on the ground in a heap. His white pants are singed and scarred body bleeding and battered. He brings himself to all fours as he struggles to get himself back to his feet. He wants more than anything to hit Nightwolf everything he's got but the adrenaline is beginning to leave his system and he can't push aside the pain from the stabbings to both of his legs any longer.

He wants to get up but while the spirit is willing, the flesh even of someone who has obtained the level of mastery as Aranha, is weak.

COMBATSYS: Aranha decides that discretion is the better part of valor.

Hm..

There is no doubt that Aranha's past sins are strong.

Even now, the shaman could sort of tell that the Capoerista was up to no good. Although he didn't know the specifics, there was a particular glint to his eyes that showed there was a reason why he wanted to fight in this particular place. He seemed a little too... insistent.

When the light fades, Nightwolf rises to his feet and watches Aranha now on the ground groaning in pain. The spider might have prevailed in the first encounter, but as the saying goes.. sometimes you get the wolf.

And sometimes the wolf gets you.

The Sin Eater shows no sign of gloating though, instead he merely walks up to the courageous Capoerista and kneels next to him, placing an eagle feather next to his hand.

"When you are ready to take your rightful place as a defender of Earthrealm and achieve your true strength, whisper my name into the feather."
Standing up, Nightwolf turns around to leave amongst cheering fans and the announcer declaring him the winner. He's never been one to showboat and unless Aranha has any parting words, he'll vanish into a beam of light as he did before.
