End of the World - Alter Egoism

Description: Daniel Jack, with the trail gone cold in Europe due to the mysterious meddlings of Ash Crimson, boards a flight that ends up thrown wildly off-course due to the escalating storms at sea. Forced to land in Metro City International Airport, one of the few parts of the metropolis not shut down by the hurricanes and flooding, he finds as he exits the plane that he's stuck on the same flight as Jira, who also sought to leave Paris. The transformations she's undergoing through Akabara's influence have left Jira in need of a new outfit, and she encounters Daniel in one of the duty-free clothing stores within the airport. Akabara is eager to test his growing power against another fighter, but Jira may not be the only one possessed by a deity of battle. Ever since they landed, Daniel has been hearing a strange voice in his head-- that of a goddess of war. How will the exciting battle of Daniel and Jira turn out? Will they ever get their new duds? And what secrets do the Goddess and Akabara hide? Tune in and find out!

The storms were getting worse.

The airport was bustling with fear. Countless couples were locked in panic; businessmen were roaring into their phones; families were huddling across the floors. The megastorm in the heart of America had brought down nearly every flight in the region. The airport was rapidly turning into a refugee camp. One of those such flights was from Paris to Southtown, supposingly non-stop. And as the flight is emptied out, one of the passengers were amongst the throng that was filtering out.

Daniel Jack.

World Detective.

Daniel was still in a daze from his time at Paris, though his injuries were almost healed up. His suit was threadbare, a dingy trench coat with a cheap-rate fedora. Only his slacks were of some quality, though the detective didn't seem to even notice.

He still had Mimiru on the mind.

He stumbles along, eyes staring ahead. The fight with Jiro. A distraught Mimiru, turning to him for emotional support. The detective providing it. The memories of Mimiru were flooding his thoughts, the woman becoming nearly an obsession. Were they really to be gone forever? The detective shakes his head idly. It wasn't anything, really. She only kissed him because of how Jiro treated her.

Because of where Jiro's priorities really lay.

And this is why Jira threw fits whenever the private jet wasn't taking off on a day she had to travel. Stuck in the land of America. This country wasn't even on her bucket list! Still, it's a stop on her trip back home and her outfit has a few burns and stains on it, courtesy of the louvre. Horrid red smears and blackened holes, stressed and fraying seams and hems, even the collar of her shirt is torn. Luckily her vest covers that.
Jira is determined to replace her outfit, but her whitening hair denoted a change in colour. The first clothing outlet she finds, she enters. And she shops on a rampage, stepping from rack to rack in a frenzy to find somethi- a familiar face. Certainly a man she's seen before, when with Jiro. She pauses where she is, left arm already holding up a spiffy shirt and pants, but torn with the desire to up her wardrobe or to talk to this man again. On her hip, glistening as always, is her partner and firearm.

Familiar faces weren't always friendly.

Daniel Jack freezes. Something- or rather, someone- broke him from the trance. Another Kasagi. Or so she claims. Dreamy passion is replaced by a surge of hot anger. Jiro's reaction at the hotel. The choice between Mimiru and Jira. Mimiru's tears.

The sensation of rage grows hotter.

The detective storms through the airport, pushing aside businessmen as he beelines it to the sideshop. Daniel Jack storms by a book rack, knocking it down as he forces his way into the shop. Security guards, already on alert because of the storm, focus on Daniel as he reaches the shop. Hand in his pocket, the Detective finally reaches the woman. A roar of thunder cuts over the airport.

"Jira Kasagi." The detective states coldly. He looks over the woman. A glance to the purchases in one hand. Another glance to the gun. "Hell of a time and place to be packing heat." Daniel Jack growls, shifting his gaze back up to Jira's eyes. He thrusts a finger towards the woman's chest, gritting his teeth.

"I got some questions to ask you"

Oh shit. That look. The clothes are quickly forgotten in that look of anger. And a stormy approach matching the weather, which she has a feeling is going to get very sour.
del 16
"Jack-san, hello." she replies, wary of the cold stare. "My partner is always accompanying my person. Be it at my side or within." she explains about the gun, then tilting her head at the finger-pointing. "I'm an open book, please ask away. Is everything alright? On the human side of things, nature seems about ready to throw a tantrum." and offers a warm smile. Her eyes shine and glitter with bright, pink energy. Her posture is calm, relaxed and proper.

"The name's Daniel."

The detective's correction comes curt. His body language was aggressive, though his other hand was still fixed in his trenchcoat pocket. The glare drifts back to her 'partner.' The fact she was packing heat was still trouble. But as his gaze rises back up to her unnatural eyes, he runs his tongue over his teeth.

This might suck.

"No, things aren't all right." He states coldly. "I just chatted with Jiro's sister, Mimiru. And with Jiro too. Real damn funny things getting into his. Just like how damn funny it is that you showed up in his life. A poor, confused teenager like this, running into a sweet cousin like you." Venom drips from every caustic word from the detective. He pokes a finger into Jira's shoulder, as the security guards begin to approach the duo.

"What the hell is your business with Jiro?"

Jira's head tilts. "R-right, Daniel-san." she corrects. Her eyes remain at his constantly. "Is Mimiru okay?" is the first reply she has too his continued statement about things being unwell. "And what has Jiro done? We're cousins, all three of us. Our branches of the family seperated after I graduated from Taiyo." she informs. "I was trying to comfort him and give him some kind of support, Daniel-san. Also, there are guards coming."
Her eyes break from his only for a moment to sweep over the guards.. yet another reason she was upset, her escorts weren't here.

Daniel Jack gives another shove.

He was enraged, and clearly, looking for a fight. "Don't do the cute routine with me, sweetheart. Something doesn't smell right with you. Nobody packs heat in a public airport without a story to tell." As she identifies the guards, he turns a looks, pulling his other hand out of his pocket into fists. He wasn't worried about the guards. He would rip them to pieces. A worthy sacrifice for Akabara. Wait, what? The detective takes his free hand, stumbling back as he grabs his forehead. Almost as a stammer, he sputters out.

"What's Akabara?"

One of the security guards begin to grab the flustered detective. "It's alright, sir..." He begins, pulling out zip-tie handcuffs. A crack of thunder rips overhead again. Screams and shouts erupt as Daniel Jack reverses the hold of the guard. With a pivot, he hurls him into a t-shirt sporting mannequin. Eyes burning, he looks towards Jira, his own eyes bearing a pink inner light. And there, he growls out, a piercing question cutting to the point.

"Who are you?"

Jira's look drops, saddened. "I'm trying to be compliant and helpful, Jack-san. If Jiro's been acting out of place, then I need to talk to him." she states. That name, her reply is immediate and matter-of-fact. "Akabara is my partner."
Oh hey, a grip reversal. And an out of place glow that immediately has Jira drawing out her gun. "Guards, please clear the area. I don't want any collateral damage here." she calls out, producing a round from her vest and loading it into her gun.

Daniel was not making this better.

As he hurls the security guard away, the guns go out. Panicked chattering fills the airport, as the frightened travelers recoil away. But as Jira readies her own gun, the guards lower their weapons. Clearly this was a federal agent of some kind. And this was a crazed transiant. Daniel Jack stumbles around blindly, settling on holding himself upright with a nearby magazine rack. He was holding his head, confused, confounded. But as Jira's response swims around in his mind, words come from him.

"She's not your partner."

The voice was Daniel's. But the words weren't. But as he turns around to stare at the now armed and ready Jira, the words burst forth again. "How dare you declare her your equal!?" He bellows, pink energy flowing from his eyes. The bloodlust was consuming him. He had to strike at her, to destroy her, for Mimiru's sake. Another roar of thunder comes as the lights of the airport flicker, a brownout surging forth. For a brief moment, the lights die down, casting everyone in shadows.

When the shadows return, Daniel was pouncing.

Gripping the magazine rack with both hands, he hurls the item straight forward. Magazines scatter across the shopfront floor, the metal framework spinning through the air straight for Jira. The detective's face was in a snarl, teeth bared, eye flowing with that pink energy.

"You bring SHAME to Akabara!"

COMBATSYS: Jira instinctively dodges Daniel's Large Thrown Object.

What? Who the hell has Daniel been with to be going this crazy. The first thoughts Jira has. And, why wouldn't the two be equals, they share a mindspace. Jira's body tenses up with this hostility, thankful for the guards moving back.
"I don't know how you are connected to Akabara, and I don't care. I am his partner, and I will not stand for such words!" she shouts in reply. The lights darken, but that pink glow gives enough away for Jira to make a sidestep from that tossed object.
"He has shown no disapproval towards me, whatever shame comes of him is with his approval." she states. Her right hand glows a bright pink and the woman lunges forward towards Daniel. Her eyes and the growing talons of human essence shine in the dim light, trailing behind her as she closes in a mad dash and jabs her four outstretched fingers for his stomach, to sink those talons in deep. A violent energy that would infect his essence and eat away at it should they make contact.

Miss.

The rack flies past Jira, the detective already hurling himself after it. Staggering forward, his mind was swimming. Every moment he felt like something was pulling him forward. As he gazes into those burning eyes, her words cut into him, as she burns with that strange energy. The pink light in his eyes suddenly wink out.

How did he know?

"I don't know!" He barks, mind surging with a hunger for battle. The storm overhead rages, the lights continuing to flicker. The energy slashes through the air, the detective hurling himself aside. Falling into a clothing rack, his trenchcoat is ripped open. Fresh wounds are exposed, but they did not burn. No. They were a tingling numbness, eating away at his skin, his nervous system, his very soul. The detective's eyes go wide, the haunting voice in his head suddenly smothered as the detective mouths the realization.

"Psycho Energy?"

Daniel Jack didn't know how he got himself in this mess. Rising back from the rack. he bellows more questions, grabbing some of the nearest clothing. "Who is Akabara? Why is the name not escaping my head? Is this... is this some kind of suggestion?" He babbles, hurling himself from the rack. The detective hurls a heap of Metro City swimsuits towards Jira, trying to slow her down, distract her, anything. And right afterwards, he follows right afterwards, swinging a meaty hook straight for her jaw.

To knock some sense back out of her, and right back into himself.

COMBATSYS: Jira instinctively blocks Daniel's Fierce Punch.

He doesn't know what? Curious and curiouser. Jira was surprised on that miss, but it does not show. She was keeping level and calm, and it had paid off a little thusfar. Atleast Daniel sounds slightly coherent.
"Yes, Psycho Energy." she replies, her eyes had been watching him and his mouthing. A gaze that, despite various swimwear being hurled, maintained. Her arm comes up fluidly and her right hand catches that punch, which ripples through her body and makes her stagger back. She shakes out her arm and swings it back, open palm, towards Daniel. Her palm doesn't make contact, stopping short of it and letting out a groaning shockwave of human energy that spreads rather violently outwards. As soon as the energy is loosed, Jira's body suddenly bulks up and her gun is placed on her hip. Her muscles ripple and bulge heavily, body mass and even her height increasing with the sudden surge of energy from within. Her pink eyes glaze over into a bright, flat red and a white aura clings to her body.
"Who are you that makes such calls against my host." Jira calls out, her voice double with the deeper, masculine tone of Akabara speaking out at once.

COMBATSYS: Daniel dodges Jira's Psycho Palm.

The voices haunt him.

Whatever it was, it was forcing the name Akabara into his mind. The crowds of travelers were watching in a blend of morbid curiousity and terror. The security guards were uncertain what was happening, the lights of the airport continues to dim. And yet, as woman blocks both the bikinis and punch from Daniel Jack, the detective something wrong. Her figure was shuddering, as the palm was hurled out. The detective catches her by the wrist, guiding the strike past his body as he sidesteps around her in sync with her own sidesteps. But his eyes were wide. The lights were going low, but Daniel could see it.

A transformation.

The lights die down. And when they return, a scream rips from the audience. Jira's form was revealed, possessed by the spirit. And as it asks him a question, the detective nearly bows, compelled to answer.

"I'm a servant of Akab- No!" Daniel Jack fumes, the maddening energy still stewing within him. "I am Daniel Jack! World Detective! And you are... you are a what? A Shadaloo Doll? What are you!" He roars, body infusing with orange energy. The pink light is consumed by the waves of chi. Body burning, the lights continue to flicker.

And he attacks.

The detective hurtles forward, throwing out a fiercesome palm strike of his own. Leading with the left palm, he follows up with a burning hand chop, infused with his own inner light. Whether to first two of the combo lands, do not matter, his left hand would scoop, flinging out a second wave of energy, as he steps in to finish the assault: To grab the now hefty woman by her waist, and with a pivot.

Throw her straight into a snack food stand.

The pair sigh. Atleast the detective can skirt around a hit. Then they hear that brief bit. A servant? Egypt better -not- be back to haunt them. That was a horrible decade of being less than complacent in a whiney brat. "No, Shadaloo has had no hand in our coming to power." they reply... that horrible energy of the planet, coming out quickly enough to send Jira's freshly changed body into a shudder. Enough of a distraction, palmed and hacked upon, blasted and flung into a snack stand. Her body cracks and groans in complaint as she's brought to stand again.
"Such unpleasant, inhumane energy. It leaves a bitter taste in my mouth." they reply. The white energy covering her body becomes tinged a light green and sinks into her flesh.
Jira charges at Daniel, looking to run right through him. But she winds her left arm back and sends her fist forwards to halt her movement and give Daniel a nice bit of sandwich to snack on. Knuckle sandwich with a spread of more psycho energy.

If she wasn't Shadaloo... then what?

The detective hurls himself into the titan, the excess energy flowing from his body. The presence was beginning to seep from his mind. He was getting more and more clear. As the body cracks, from the throw, he is already surging towards her, rolling in that relentless assault.

But she was surging just as hard back.

As she charges towards the detective, Daniel Jack stops. Legs spread, body balanced, he loses no momentum in halting. As the energy-infused punch is hurtled in, he brings his own hands forward. one catches the punch by the wrist, the other catches the fist in the palm. The detective body numbs, the lingering energy still chilling his nerves. He hated Psycho Energy so much. The force still comes, and Daniel moves himself, rotating around Jira as the force of impact is released. Positioning to the flank, he lashes out a rapid swipe of energy, a side-swipe to harass her as he gets into position... as he growls at the woman.

"What do you WANT with JIRO, monster?!"

Jira's a little frustrated by that catch of the detective's, but her partner gives a grin. He's talented. But her eyes are on him as he moves, purposely running through his attack to draw in closer to the man with a growl.
"It is the She that wants the other Kasagi, she genuinely cares for her family, and that Mimiru woman especially. I only want a worthy, fun opponent. Which I have still yet to find." they call out to Daniel, though the commanding one is certainly Akabara. Whom suddenly pushes both of Jira's arms out, palms open and facing outwards. A bright aura of white pours out from Jira's body. Her arms then cross over her chest and the aura extends forwards, to cover the area surrounding and including Daniel as he was during his sideswipe. The energy illuminates brighter and brigher until it whites out the store, and to the unfortunate non-native of the new space, Daniel is subject to the energy lashing out explosively onto his very being with violent, tortured screams and cries in its influence. Akabara's voice echoes out in the space, ringing endlessly in the deep and cool tone that so greatly contrasts Jira's.
"Remember who and WHAT you are, detective. Reign in yourself, cast out that hunger for battle that is not your own."
While the assault is happening, Jira's body 'deflates' to normal, her eyes shimmering and shining out pink again. She makes space between her and Daniel, looking for cover.

"I'm Daniel Jack!"

That was the last bellow, as the lights of the airport finally fail. The storm outside illuminates within, each flash of lightning casting shadows of the two fighters. Both are aglow with energy, chi against psionics, the battle of two energies. The maelstrom was igniting this fight more than anything else.

Though Daniel certainly didn't agree.

He froths, keeping himself close to the beef tank figure of the fighter. Even in the dark, he could keep close. That, and the energy that was building to a climax. As it grows brighter and brighter, the detective refuses to back down. "You hear me? I'm Daniel Jack!"

The light consumes him, as the assault is unleashed.

The screams fill the room. Akabara was gone. But as Jira moves to make space, a fist erupts in orange chi. "If you cared anything about Jiro, about reuniting your so called family, then why are you encouraging Jiro to abandon it?" Was the roar as the fist winds back. Daniel Jack's form, his last good trench coat tattered, was now illuminated in the shadows. Eyes were focused, madly focused. "Mimiru reached out to Jiro, pleaded him to reconcile! And what did he do? He chose YOU over his own sister! You claim you are trying to unite your family? Bull SHIT!" The fist explodes forward, flying like a rocket in the darkness. Moving swiftly and steadily, the detective attempts to smash that chi-aflame fist right into Jira's spine, before she can slip away.

"All you have done is divide it!"

Jira had gotten into cover behind a clothes rack before the attack subsided, breathing heavily and obviously tired. She notes the chi and her breaking suddenly hikes up, a burst of adrenaline has her scurrying over the toppled magazine stand and rolling onto the ground nearby.
"Then bring Mimiru with you and let us all confront Jiro together! I can't control his actions, he is not my pet! The only way to fix this is to bring them together with all the pieces in place." she calls out to Daniel. "I mean it, all I want is to bring them together. It will be much harder if I do not have contact with both of them at once." slowly standing up and giving a deep sigh.
Jira draws in the ambient energy in the room and absorbs it back into her flesh with a shiver. "Just for the record, this is not a fight I want to continue." she huffs out.

"I can't!"

That was the response from Daniel as the fist catches nothing. Daniel Jack and Jiro did have that in common. The hot-bloodedness. The stubbornness. But as the light dies down, the detective is trying hard to listen. A crack of thunder. A flash of lightning. No sign of Jira. The mutters and sobbing of the onlookers. Daniel Jack tightens his fists, before roaring.

"She's GONE!"

"She was driven to TEARS because of what you did to Jiro! You gave him someting that... that his sister couldn't give. You are a manipulator! You are some kind of psychic mindbending monster! I don't know what you are, or even why you are! You think someone who can transform like that isn't up to something?!" The paranoid ramblings of Daniel pause for a moment, to let an earthshaking blast of lightning rip into the airport. A flash rips across the shop, as rain begins to pour into the exposed ceiling of the airport.

"FOUND YOU!"

The detective ignites in a flare of energy. Orange chi rolls up and down his body, as rain scatters into the room. The storm was tearing apart the airport now. Water begins to rise on the floor of the side shop, as the detective winds back a hand. Slicing the air towards the shivering woman, he bellows out the name of the attack, as a wave of energy rolls straight towards the woman.

"KASANE ATE!"

Jira listens quietly and gathers her wits. She still feels disgusting after dealing with that chi, shivering. She resists calling back out as much as she can, Kasagi matters are best handled within the family. She is going to kick Jiro something fierce next time she sees him, AND she's got to console Mimiru. Oh, fun, a bolt of plasma from the sky tearing into the store. Now it's wet. Let it go for the record, some ghosts should stay that way. For future reference. Jira's arms pre-emptively cross over her body and she summons up a weak aura around herself that soak up the brunt of that Kasane Ate. Her reply is quickly whipping her gun out and firing off that round still loaded. CRAKK! the gunshot echoes loudly in the area. Her arm went wide just before she pulled the trigger, the massive round noisily ricocheting off the walls and surfaces, sending torn paper and bits of clothing everywhere while Jira dives for more cover, behind the almost-toppled snack stand.

A gunshot rings out.

The screaming intensifies now, as full panic takes over the remains of the airport. Daniel Jack doesn't care. He was surrounded by chaos, but there was a woman who destroyed Mimiru's spirit, who destroyed her second chance. The energy was died down for a moment. The pings of shots are heard, the detective ignoring them. It must have been a missed shot. In the next flash of lightning, Daniel Jack was on top of Jira, body flaring alight with a sudden force of chi. He manages to grab her wrist "Don't try that nice girl gimmick on th-"

And Daniel goes silent.

The detective releases his grip, and fades into blackness. The chi dies out. There is no ranting. No shouting. No rage.

And Daniel's on the flooded ground, unmoving.

A black line traces from his head to the water around.

There is darkness again. The crowds are fleeing now. For a moment, the fight seemed over. A trick shot was all it took. Another flash of lightning comes, as the gales howl through the remains of the shop, sending magazines and garbage fluttering.

Daniel is no longer there.

"Friggin psychics. That wasn't a lucky shot, was it." Were the words of the voice behind her.

Jira had her eyes closed once she nestled in, listening to the shot pinging around. And then she heard the deep 'thump' that only comes from unyielding flesh and bone versus bullet. She knew it wasn't over, no way it was over. The voice coming up behind her earns an immediate, half-hearted punch right to the sound hole.
"I guess it TAKES a psychic to know the truth when they hear it!" she calls out. "You're worse than my manager in high-school!" she spits out, taking a quick hop back out of cover and again her body transforms. Bulking up, eyes dimming and psionic, human essence pouring out from her frame.
"Would you be wholly opposed to a coffee break. We can get all the banter out of the way and pick up the fight properly." they say in the usual dual-tone of this altered state.

"Coffee?"

That was Daniel's question, as he stands in the darkness. The punch stops cold, just in time for a flash of lightning. A trail of blood was trickling down his temple. That was an unfortunate injury. The woman's fist was in Daniel's palm. The detective was NOT amused.

"I just got -shot- in the head."

That was Daniel's answer.

Watching as Jira rushes for cover, the detective turns as the light fades. The sound of crunching and splashing is heard, as Daniel moves fast. A great rattling sound is heard next, followed by a grunt of pain. And then, silence from the detective. The crowd around them is growing dimmer now, either moving farther away, or the storm just growing that loud. "Marco?" Daniel states coldly, 20 feet to the left from where he was last seen. Splashing is heard, as another flash of lightning comes. Daniel Jack was clutching the cash register of the shop. His eyes glisten in the illmunation, locked on the bulked up Jira. With a heave, he chucks the register straight towards her head.

"Polo."

The altered body of Jira had given up on cover, far too large for such a thing. "Well yes, coffee. I thought it'd be a nice idea." but then Daniel moves. "But if you're sore about a bullet, maybe some parfait as well? On us." they offer.

Marco.

Jira sighs and relies solely on hearing Daniel's position, a sour look crossing their face.

Polo.

Just enough time for Akabara to realize the attack isn't physical and to react. Jira's right arm lifts up in the air, holding a sphere of white psycho-energy. Absorbing and cancelling the impact of the register, spinning it round and round in its grasp, then firing it right back at where Daniel had been in a gesture that seemed effortless.
"We've got people panicking, probably people injured in the storm, and you're trying to play catch? You and that Kasagi boy are far too similar. Getting others and yourselves hurt for no reason, fighting in anger instead of enjoying the art of Combat as it is meant to be."

Oh, that was a thing.

There was no sound of impact. Only a bright glow. The register was caught in an orb of energy. The detective frowns so hard. As the register is sent flying back, the detective hits the floor. The object is sent flying over his head, landing with a splash behind a clothing rack. Bursting straight back up, he shakes a fist in that dim light, before it dies.

"There has to be fighting! I mean, I..."

The detective grows silent.

The actual... distaster of what was going around him was beginning to sink in. Daniel looks around him. He looks down at the water he was standing in. The storm above him. This was... this was a good sign, that getting back to Southtown was going to be very difficult. If not impossible. Why was he fighting this woman now?

"I..."

"... I am not done with you."

Daniel wouldn't admit it, but he was just talked down. A crack of lightning comes, and he thrusts a finger at the duo in one. "I am not done with you, Jira. Not until Mimiru and Jiro are reunited. You... homewrecker!" That was the accusation as the detective crosses his arms. There is silence. Another crack of lightning comes. There is no sign of the detective.

Daniel Jack had faded into the storm.

There is a banging noise.

"GOD DAMMIT!"

That was the cry 15 feet away, behind the remains of a clothing rack.

Daniel found the register that was set hurtling towards him.

He is silent for real this time, though.
