Description: Aranha and Eddy Gordo are invited to a Batizado in Brazil. The Batizado, which translates to baptism, is a ceremony where beginners are baptized into the art of capoeira, as well as belt ceremony, and a celebration of the art of capoeira. As special guests of this particular Batizado, Aranha and Eddy fight in this roda for their Saturday Night Fight. (Winner: Aranha)
It's a rare occurance when a capoeira group sends out invites for capoeira Batizados. They usually only happen once a year within that particular group. It's a chance for capoeiristas to receive their nickname if they haven't received it yet. A chance to test for their cordao(chord). A chance to fight capoeiristas invited from all over Brazil and possibly the world and test their mettle against people they wouldn't otherwise have an opportunity fight.
For Aranha the fact that he was being invited to one was a strange occurance in of itself, the fact that it took place at the same time and same location as where he was to go for his SNF made him wonder if this was intentional. As a result though he knew instantly that the fighter he would be facing would be a fellow capoeirista. He couldn't help but be excited about facing another practitioner of his style since those tend to be far and few between.
Once there his suspicions were confirmed and his SNF match would indeed be part of the Batizado ceremony. Just before people began filling the building he warmed up and stretched knowing that once the ceremony started he wouldn't have a chance to.
It started out with introductions of the teachers of the groups as well as the visiting teachers and then of the two fighters that would be fighting at SNF. After introductions were made, they called a few of capoeiristas including both Aranha and Eddy for solos which allowed them to show off and do a few tricks to get the crowd hyped up. After that, there was Mestres' roda where only the teachers could go in to fight. Aranha himself was asked to join that one but he declined not feeling as though he did enough to even justify stepping into a Mestres' roda After that the students went in to test for their new chords which consisted of them fighting teachers one by one(amount of which depended on what level they were testing for) after that would the SNF between Eddy and Aranha take place.
Eddy has had a normal of things taking up his time, which have led to a lack of his presence in the general fighting circuit, or even in capoeira specific events. After being given a specific invite, though, he had to take a bit to think it over. He's still a very driven man, but even he can take a little time to relax. And he does owe a lot to capoeira, so giving a little back would be a good act.
Getting to Brazil is not a problem, since he's in the country most of the time anyway. He knows his way around quite well, and there's no complications with making his way to the event. A little showing off for the crowd helps him get warmed up, and he keeps an appraising eye on Aranha while the other man does his own display. Looks like he's going to have a pretty good fight on his hands soon. While the rank matches continue, Eddy makes his way over to Aranha and gives the other man a friendly nod. "Hey, I'm looking forward to this. Ought to be a pretty good match."
When Eddy approaches, Aranha returns the nod with one of his own and a bit of a grin. "Likewise. Every time I think I've met every capoeirista in the fighting circuit, a new one pops up to surprise me. I look forward to seeing you play."
Little by little the students get tested and eventually the last of the students finish the test and get baptized by the floor by way of a beautifully clean foot sweep. The cordao is raised in the air before being placed on the waist of the student. What was surprising was how many of the beginners knew to step back as the chord was wrapped around their waist as a way of preventing the teacher from using the chord to pull the student's legs from under them.
Aranha is ushered to one side of the foot of the roda while Eddy is guided to the other side. Since the introductions had already been done Aranha kneels down to the ground and touches it before bringing a fist to his chin in a thoughtful expression. The berimbau lowers and Aranha extends a hand toward Eddy while raising his left to guard from any potential tricks from his opponent. He then tilts to the side lowering his head to the ground while his body tilts, his hands planted on the ground, his ribs resting on the elbow in what is known as 'queda du rins' or 'fall on the kidney.' It acts as sort of a bow to the bateria. He then raises himself off the ground and leaps up into the air twisting horizontally in the air as he performs a Butterfly Twist, or as the capoeiristas know it, Mariposa.

Eddy likewise lowers himself to the ground, touching the ground, then giving a respectful, but quick, shake of Aranha's hand, and then following with his own queda du rins. As he steps back he begins to spin about, performing one full rotation of his body before bring his left leg sweeping out in a roundhouse kick. The momentum continues to carry him around as he leans his upper body back, bringing his leg around again in a higher angled sweeping kick. He uses his momentum at this point to fling himself up off the ground, flipping in mid-air to enter the roda. He hits the ground with one more low spin, coming back up to a standing position with his shoulders swaying first to one side, then back to the other before transitioning into his usual ginga.
With both fighters within the roda, and somebody on the SNF staff making sure that everybody on that end is paying attention to the music and the impact it can have on the bout, it's time for the fight to begin. Eddy moves in toward Aranha, shifting from side to side before getting close enough to rush in for his opening assault. While it's friendly, this is also a serious match between skilled fighters, and Eddy has no problem opening up with a sweeping elbow strike aimed at Aranha's torso. He follows it up immediately with a sweeping kick at about shin height.
COMBATSYS: Aranha blocks Eddy's Derecho Batuque.

As capoeira goes an opening with elbows is aggressive as is also kicks to the leg but as a professional fighter, Aranha is used to it and even comes to expect attacks like that. Even in bouts between capoeiristas. It still is a Saturday Night Fight after all. Aranha tilts back bringing his arm up to catch the elbow strike on his forearm spinning with the impact before the follow up shin kick comes in. It glances off his shin as Aranha tilts into handstand which while it didn't allow him to completely avoid it, it allowed a bit of damage control.
Aranha does not immediately leave that handstand but instead proceeds to rain down a series of snap kicks down on Eddy's head before tilting back into a standing position close to the other capoeirista.
COMBATSYS: Eddy blocks Aranha's Inverted Flurry.

Eddy moves with the impact of Aranha's kicks while at the same time deflecting them, blunting most of the force of the impacts. He has to keep moving back for a bit in order to keep it up, but eventually an opportunity arises for him to hop back a bit further and flip into a handstand of his own. One of his legs starts to lash out, looking like he's going to follow up with his own kick to Aranha's head...
But then Eddy suddenly tilts backwards, letting his legs drop to the ground. He's already starting to bring his entire body spinning around, bringing both legs sweeping around toward Aranha with the weight of his body behind them. Following through with the motion brings him briefly into a sitting position, still rotating on the ground and letting him smoothly come back to his feet.
COMBATSYS: Aranha interrupts Strong Kick from Eddy with Medium Throw.
-* CRITICAL HIT! *-

Aranha 1/------=/=======|===----\-------\0 Eddy
Aranha is patient. He has no other choice to be so when Eddy is putting up such a formidable defense against him. He waits for the kick from the handstand, and that doesn't come. The legs drop to the ground. He doesn't see the opportunity there. It's when Eddy's entire body spins towards him that he finally sees it. He hops forward to the inside of the attack and suddenly drops to the ground with a single hand and both of his provide propulsion and he pushes head first towards Eddy's abdomen while maintaining a guard over his face. The two men collide and Aranha uses the headbutt aided by placement to shove Eddy crashing to the ground.
After that, Aranha rises to his feet with a bit of a grin. If it was just a game of capoeira, the game would've been won right there. But there's still a fight to finish. Aranha goes into ginga as he backs off from the other capoeirista for a bit.
Eddy definitely felt that. With an attack like that you really have to be fully committed, so there's not much he can do once Aranha manages to avoid the worst for it and counter with an attack of his own. He's down for a moment, but it doesn't take too long before he rolls himself into a smooth motion that sees him rising back to his feet and settling back into ginga. He gives Aranha a respectful nod, then begins moving in toward him again.
Moving in quickly toward Aranha, it looks like Eddy is going to lead with a frontal assault, but then he suddenly turns his shoulder toward his opponent. He leaps off the ground, pivoting in mid-air at the waist, and bringing both legs swinging around to bring a kick crashing down on Aranha from above.

Aranha observes the tilted shoulder then the take off as well. He recognizes that move. He in particular has used it extensively. The Armada Dupla is normally used for a flashy evasion or trick, but for individuals like both Eddy and Aranha, if they can get enough hang time on their jumps can weaponize it, turning it into a powerful foot stomp.
Aranha's particular intimacy with that particular move allows him to figure out the timing needed slip to the side with a small hop before he spins around and delivers a spinning side kick to his chest just as Eddy's feet hit the ground.
COMBATSYS: Aranha successfully hits Eddy with Thrust Kick.

Eddy's feet indeed don't have time for more than just hitting the ground, although he does still try to jump back. The muscles in his legs are tensing as Aranha's foot impacts with his chest. He doesn't get a chance to reduce the impact of the kick, but it does at least mean that he's ready to plant his feet and skid back rather than go flying onto his back.
But Eddy's not going to back down. He moves in toward Aranha, but rather than walking the whole way he suddenly pushes his upper body down and forward, flipping into a handstand. He then twists his body around, bringing one leg and then the other sweeping in at Aranha before dropping to a sitting position facing his opponent and springing back to his feet.

There's a bit of a temptation for Aranha to respond in kind with his Inverted Tornado but he reels it in which ends up serving him well. The Dancing Spider leans back slightly while using a small step to get himself just barely out of the reach of Eddy's legs. There's a slight breath of relief since he knows how close he was to getting caught by the other capoeirista.
While Aranha hasn't been dropped it would've looked bad for him since Eddy has him a bit on the defensive. He goes forward to attempt to reclaim the ground he gave up to evade the kicks before Eddy can move in. After that, he delivers two elbows before following up with a double leg takedown.

Eddy starts leaning back with a plan in mind, but Aranha steps in faster then he expected. Both elbows strike home, and then his legs go out from under him and Eddy goes crashing down onto his back. It looks like Aranha might have a pretty good advantage over him now. At least, that might be a case if they were dealing with a less fluid martial art.
With one foot shifted to be on contact with the ground, Eddy rises will sweeping out with a low kick at Aranha's legs. He follows through on it completely, rising back to a standing position as he rotates about, raising his leg to chest height as he brings a second kick sweeping in toward Aranha. At the same time he hops forward slightly, throwing a little extra 'oomph' into the blow.
COMBATSYS: Eddy successfully hits Aranha with Rio Delight.

There's a bit of satisfaction landing that move. Aranha knows that there's a tendency a few groups not to work on that type of takedown that often so when he performs one he can't help but smile. Aranha is a little slow as he raises himself back up to a standing position from the double leg takedown. As a result, he's not quite prepared for the scything kick for his leg and it takes out his front leg, leaving him teetering just before that second kick plows into him and takes him completely off his feet and leaving him a bit shaken but not completely taken out.
The Dancing Spider brings himself back up to his feet once more and then he considers his options. Parkour is off the table especially considering the venue and his Web Shot is out of the question as well since he doesn't want to accidentally hit the people acting as the boundaries.
His body sways to the music and then all at once he kicks for the head with a roundhouse kick before following up with a foot sweep disrupt his balance and then following up with a leaping knee to the chest.
COMBATSYS: Eddy interrupts Change-Up Kick from Aranha with Leaping Face Kick.

Aranha 1/---====/=======|=------\-------\0 Eddy
Eddy's also moving in time with the music, and the beat helps him work out the timing of Aranha's attack. This is important for what he has planned, because even the tiniest mistake could cause some serious problems. Aranha brings one leg around for a roundhouse, but Eddy is already moving to meet him. He leaps off the ground with one foot, bringing his own leg sweeping around, tucked in slightly and then snapping out.
He's far too close to avoid getting hit by Aranah's kick, but that's okay because people find it quite hard to properly follow through on an attack when they're dealing with someone's foot plowing right into their face. The roundhouse kick smacks into him, pushing Eddy's airborn body to the side, but it doesn't throw him off enough to keep him from getting his feet back under him and landing in a standing position.
Good news for Aranha: He was able to bait a contra-golpe(counter strike) out of Eddy in the hope that he would be so overzealous that his timing would be off and he could slip his attack in. Bad news for Aranha: Eddy's counter strike was actually better timed than he expected. Aranha's roundhouse lands but Eddy's own kick to the face sends him spinning out of control to ground.
Aranha rises to his feet but while Aranha knows got the worst of the two capoeirista collision and knows that Eddy was still able to maintain his balance, he still can't help but smile. Smile at the fact that this fight turned out to be a fairly fun one. But a tiny part of him smiles at the fact that he knows that Eddy might be in more trouble than might be visible to most outside observers.
He shakes out the remaining cobwebs and then skips forward delivering a roundhouse kick from the front leg in an attempt to kick through his head before coming back with the same leg to hook around the back of the neck to bring the other capoeirista face first to the ground, hard.
COMBATSYS: Aranha successfully hits Eddy with Face Down.

Aranha 0/-------/--=====|=======\-------\0 Eddy
Eddy is indeed in trouble, though not so much to completely stop him yet. Unfortunately, it is enough to keep him from evading Aranha's attack. His head snaps back from the impact of Aranha's kick, but then gets dragged forward by the leg hooked behind his neck. He quickly goes over forward, and then the ground rushes up quickly to meet his face.
That was a nasty hit, and it takes Eddy a moment to push himself back to his feet. His vision is swimming, and he's not sure if he's going to be able to keep this up for long. He's got one last surge in him, though... but if that doesn't work, he doesn't think he's going to have enough fight left in him to keep going.
With the energy he's got left, Eddy staggers up to Aranha, only barely managing to keep moving to the music. He snaps a sharply angled kick up at Aranha's head, then drops down to put a hand on the ground as he swings one leg around in a heavy kick aimed to strike high on Aranha's torso and knock him clean off his feet.
COMBATSYS: Eddy can no longer fight.

And after his kick, Eddy's not as quick to spring back to his feet as he has been. He stays on the ground for a moment, one hand moving to press against his temple. Then he shakes his head and rises to his feet. Keeping his left arm as ready as he can, just in case, he extends his right hand out toward Aranha. "Looks like you're a bit too much for me right now, friend."
If one had to ask Aranha, that would be a kick that he would not want to be a recipient of. He also has to admit that he's kind of surprised that Eddy responded his slightly modified Gancho follow up with a Gancho of his own. Plus there aren't many capoeiristas that he's seen that could follow a Gancho with an Au Chibata. Aranha has to be at his absolute best to dodge a kick at that speed let alone the follow up. If not for the fact that Eddy was rocked by his attack, he might not have even escaped it at all.
Aranha suddenly crouches, desperately dipping under the first kick. As the cat o' nine tails attack comes, Aranha turns out of its path and goes into a cartwheel but as he does so brings a snap kick downwards above Eddy's head but he doesn't make impact, choosing instead to just show the attack. He doesn't need to land it. He knows that no more needs to be done and he'd actually would like to fight Eddy again.
When the two rise to their feet once more, Aranha extends his own hand in a shake while keeping his left hand up in guard, after that, Aranha pulls Eddy in for a bro-hug but he turns the back of his hand inwards since their palms have touched the floor and he doesn't want to ruin Eddy's clothes.
COMBATSYS: Aranha has ended the fight here.
