Description: Yuri and Malin go at it in a unique style of combat at the Masters Arena, where they have to watch out for tile traps. Who will remain standing on two feet? (WINNER: Malin)
It's been a while since Malin has had the spotlight on her. Surely she's been up to all sorts of hijinks in the meantime! In many cases, though, it might be best if they remain unknown. If asked, Malin would probably tell people they're better off not knowing, to protect them from criminal reprisal, or getting wrapped up in the dealins of the Mysterious Secret Organization she works for.
Not everything has to be super secret, though, and doing a match on SNF is a pretty good way for a fighter to make some cash. And so Malin is here, with a fight that she's been told will put her reflexes to the test. The idea seems pretty good to her. Practice dealing with traps! Criminal masterminds always love those, right?
As she waits for the fight to start in the White Arena at Masters Stadium, Malin is crouched by the edge of the floor set up for the bout, rubbing her chin as she peers intently at the tiles. There doesn't seem to be much visible to indicate which ones might not be safe to step on. But there might just be something if she stares hard enough.
It's also been awhile for Yuri Sakazaki, the (un)official spokesperson of the Kyokugen Karate style. She's the type of girl who loves to show off her style to promote it and gain new students in her dojo. All the while, she continues to train day in and day out, in hopes of receiving a black belt. Unfortunately, her father is very strict, and even the slightest mistake results in failure. So Yuri continues to train constantly.
Of course, part of that can come from actual fighting, which is why Yuri is more than happy to be showing up in the arena. She gets her experience and she gets to show off her style. Two things for the price of one, or something like that. It's a great chance to achieve something major today.
Yuri arrives into the arena with a prancing style, grinning at everyone and waving both hands to them as she does so. "Helloooooooooooooo everyboooooooooody! It's Yuri Sakaaaaaaazaki, the princess of Kyokugen Karate, and tonight you're going to see just how awesome it can be!" Whether or not it's actually heard, Yuri doesn't care. Her message has been spread, and she now approaches the area where the floor is, and she also kneels down, peering at it carefully. "This is gonna be real fun I bet!" She says with a grin.
Malin grins, then stands up and cautiously steps out onto the floor. The first tile seems to hold her weight, and then she brings up her other foot and sets it down, also without incident. She then taps her foot a few times to make sure. "Lots of fun! Just don't let it slow you down." She swings her arms a few times and flexes her fingers, limbering up, while mentally checking the locations of all her hidden weapons. She's pretty sure she's ready... or as ready as she can be. She'll just have to see if she can figure out a pattern to the tiles on the fly. "Okay, let's get this party started!"
Yuri cracks her knuckles one more time, then steps onto a nearby tile as well. It seems to be stable as Yuri checks it by stomping her foot, even dancing a little as if she's in a cartoon. Then she smiles at Malin and says, "OK, I'm ready! It's time to show everyone what the true power of Kyokugen Karate is all about!"
Yuri turns and gives a thumbs-up to the crowd with a wink and a big grin, then she looks at Malin again. "I'll start things off," Yuri says as she attempts to come in with a swift right jab.

Malin stands her ground as Yuri approaches, sparing a quick glance about the floor, but there's still no signs of where it might be safe to stand. When Yuri draws in close, Malin brings one arm up to get the back of her fist in the way of Yuri's punch. But in addition to that, a quick motion causes a clawed gauntlet to pop up out of her sleeve. Yuri's punch impacts with the back of the guard, and there's a glint in Malin's eyes as she takes a half step backwards.
The blonde then steps forward, making a quick slash in Yuri's direction with the three claws. They're not as long and nasty long as Balrog's, but still quite capable of giving somebody a bad day if they get hit with them. In deference to the friendly nature of the match, though, Malin does avoid going for Yuri's face.

When Yuri is blocked, she pulls back, reeling from the impact before recovering completely. "That wasn't too bad, but I'm just warming up. After all, you can't be a good Kyokugen Karateka if you don't warm up properly!" A big grin as she resumes her bouncy stance, watching Malin as she comes at her with what looks like a claw or something similar. Thinking fast, Yuri goes down with her arm to knock it away. She feels the claw hitting her forearm, but there's no major blood loss.
"Ouch, looks like I've got to be more careful," Yuri says, albeit half-sarcastically. "Did you really think that toy was going to get me? Let me show you how it's done!" Yuri then brings an arm back and brings forth a blast of chi from her hand.

Dangerous tiles or not, Malin hops to one side when the blast of chi energy from Yuri comes racing her way. She holds her breath for a moment, ready to try and regain her balance instantly if something goes wrong... but it doesn't. The tiles hold her weight, and she skids quickly to a stop. "Oh, I know it'll take more than that, but I've got plenty of toys!"
Malin hops back in toward Yuri, aiming for the tiles she already knows to be safe. As she does, she suddenly has a yoyo in her hand, letting it run down to the end of its string as she moves. While it's still spinning, she whips the string in Yuri's direction. The yoyo pops off, spinning at high speed, and at the same time a number of blades pop out, turning it into something like a flying blender.

Fighting a projectile with a projectile. Makes sense, but when Yuri's in a situation like this one, it's not easy to know what to do. Yuri thinks quick and attempts to jump over to another tile, but she's hit and send flying a little onto another tile... a bad one. It starts to break away on her, and Yuri finds herself struggling to avoid falling.
She literally trips and almost falls flat on her face, but recovers herself quickly. "Looks like this place is rigged with surprises. Just the way I like it!" Yuri grins as she rushes in and attempts to do an over-the-shoulder throw to Malin.

Malin laughs at Yuri's comment. "Gotta say, I like surprises too. You might have noticed." She winks, then slips to one side and away from Yuri's grab. She hops from tile to tile, trying to remember which ones she's landed on that are safe. There's a lot of tiles to try to keep in your head, though. But for now, it seems to be working, even if largely through luck.
And keeping those safe tiles in mind, Malin rushes back in. With a flick of her wrist a white baton suddenly appears in her hand, which she thrusts in toward Yuri. The blow alone might be enough to knock the breath out of someone, but it's the soft 'click' that can be heard a moment later that's the real threat. Because that's the sound of Malin pushing the button that starts the electric current flowing through the rod, and potentially into Yuri.

What a shocking experience! Yuri attempts to get away from that electricity, but it fails and she finds herself getting a shock treatment. She shocks and cries out in pain as the electricity flows through her body, causing her to tingle all over. After the shock finishes, Yuri drops to the ground, holding herself up with her hands, before getting back up with some burns on her face and uniform.
"That wasn't fair! You should fight with your fists and feet like a true fighter!" Yuri steps back, glad to be stepping onto a safe tile for a moment, while she adjusts her belt and her uniform. Then she turns back to Malin. "Now I'm gonna show you what I can do!" Yuri rushes in and attempts to deliver her own modified version of the dragon punch.

Malin leans back out of the way as Yuri rushes in, avoiding the initial punch, then slips to one side to avoid the followthrough of Yuri's body. "Hey, what works, works. But if you want me to go with my feet..." Malin grins, crouching down for a moment, then leaps toward Yuri!
The blonde goes into a forward tumble, flipping head over heels toward Yuri, lashing out with one foot as she goes to bring a kick crashing down onto Yuri. At least that's what it looks like at first, until a blade suddenly pops out of the front of her shoe! Is there anywhere she doesn't have weapons hidden?

Power isn't always useful, especially if you can't hit with it. The kick looks powerful, but Yuri can see how it's being telegraphed, so she quickly rolls away, finding yet another safe tile to land on. "You and your weapons, they stink!" Yuri says, holding her nose and waving like there's a bad smell around. "You can't fight for real!"
Apparently running out of patience, Yuri attempts to grab Malin again. However, this time she's going to attempt to administer a series of facial slaps, then knock her awaay.

"Sticks and stones!" Malin leaps back to safety from Yuri's attack... but this time luck finally catches up with her. She skids back after landing, and the floor beneath her feet starts giving way. "Whoa!" She windmills her arms for a few moments, before lurching forward. She pauses to shoot a glare backwards, then shakes her head.
"I bet this will feel real!" She leaps into the air in Yuri's direction, then starts descending toward Yuri with a blade extended in her direction. "Try this!"

"Oh no, you don't!" Yuri exclaims as she jumps back, landing on yet another safe tile. "I won't let you get me that easily! You're going to feel the power of Kyokugen Karate no matter what!" She shakes her fist at Malin to emphasise this point. "I'm the spokesgirl of Kyokugen, and I won't let anyone make me look bad!" She narrows her eyes.
"Soooooooooooo, I'm going to give you a chance to think things over. You can try doing something if you want, or you can do nothing." Yuri steps back and watches Malin. "What do you wanna do?"

Malin frowns. "Do something, huh? Yeah, I think I can handle that!" She starts racing across the floor toward Yuri, eyes narrowed. Unfortunately, since she's gotten a bit flustered she's not watching her footing as much as she probably should. With a flick of her wrist she's got another baton at hand, which draws back for striking at Yuri... but then one foot hits a tile which crumbles.
Malin's eyes widen as she goes stumbling forward, swinging wildly in Yuri's direction as she attempts to regain her footing.

Yuri thinks that the crazy method of attacking that Malin's doing will backfire. But even in a defensive stance, it's no use. Yuri gets hit and stumbles backwards, and almost falls completely through a bad tile. She manages to hold on with one hand before pulling herself up. Gasping for air as she realizes that did a number on her, Yuri looks at Malin before looking at the blood staining her gi and she scowls.
"Damn it, you ruined my uniform! You just don't know how to treat someone like me with respect! So I'm gonna make you show me some respect!" Yuri brings both hands behind her back and focuses her power, before sending forth a huge fireball.

Malin manages to get her balance back, and tries to look like she intended to do that all along, since it wound up working so well. "I'll show you some respect as soon as you earn it! You may have some good attacks, but I'm not just gonna stand still and let you use them!" Case in point, Malin is on the move again.
As she steps to one side, Malin whips out another yoyo, spinning it around and then launching it in Yuri's direction. Just before she releases, though, she steps onto another crumbling tile, and her foot plunges through it, throwing off her aim a bit. The blades still spring out as the yoyo flies, though.

Yo-yo's are meant to be used as toys and for doing tricks with, not for being attacked with. Yuri immediately realizes that she's got a chance to do something about this, and she quickly brings up her hands while yelling out, "SAIHA!" At that, an energy shield emenates around her arms, and the yo-yo hits it instead of her. But that's not all folks.
The yo-yo actually goes BACK to Malin, while Yuri shakes her head at the same time. "You underestimated me that time. I suggest you be more careful!" She razzes Malin and slaps her rear end in a taunting motion.

Malin's eyes widen as the yoyo strikes Yuri's energy shield and then starts heading back in her direction. "Wait, what the- gyaah!" The blonde cries out as the bladey spinning yoyo of doom strikes her in the chest, blades digging into her and bringing out blood, as well as knocking her off of her feet... and right onto a tile that promptly collapses.
After a bit of grumbling, Malin manages to drag herself back to her feet. "Okay... Gotta say, that one impressed me. She winces, then starts running toward Yuri. "But can you keep it up?!" She whips out a baton again, whipping it toward Yuri's neck. No zapping this time, but it's still going to hurt.

Fortunately, Yuri has attempted to adapt to Malin's fighting style somewhat, and when that baton comes out, Yuri's ready for it. She catches it with one hand and then pushes it away, shaking out her hand afterwards. "Sorry, but I'm getting a bit wise to your tricks." Yuri shakes her head. "You should try my style instead. It's more fun!"
After saying that, Yuri attempts to give another live demonstration by dropping down and administering a foot sweep to Malin. Or rather, a leg sweep since she's trying to use her whole leg here.

Malin smiles for a moment. "Oh, I'm not out of tricks yet..." Yuri drops down for her leg sweep, but Malin also drops down, keeping her head at about the same level as Yuri. She grins as Yuri lashes out with her leg, leaping forward and once more having the clawed gauntlet pop seemingly out of nowhere. Yuri's leg strikes her, but at the same time Malin crashes into Yuri, stabbing with the short claws.
The claw gets Yuri, which results in her leggings being ripped and her leg starting to bleed quite a bit. Not to mention, Yuri cries out in extreme pain as she gets hit. To top that off, she's fallen into another tile trap again. She barely makes it out of the way in time, but she whacks her leg in doing so, which results in more pain and more crying out from Yuri. Bloodied, beaten, and now literally full of fire, Yuri glares daggers at Malin.
"No more playing nicely! I'm going to show you what happens when you make me mad!" Yuri rushes at Malin, attempting to leap into her with a chest kick. If successful, Yuri will deliver a series of kicks into Malin before leaping away.

Malin's eyes widen again. She's less surprised this time, but she does know that she really doesn't want to get hit by that. But she grits her teeth and runs toward Yuri, slipping around the side of the blast at the last moment. She luckily doesn't trip herself up in the process, which leaves her open to continue running in toward Yuri. As she gets in close, Malin rears back and lashes out with what is, finally, a normal kick, as hard as she can, aiming to launch Yuri into the air.

After she kicks Yuri into the air, Malin drops both hands to her sides. There's a glint of light as multiple knives slide out into both of her hands. She looks up at Yuri and whips both arms in her direction, sending a flurry of knives up toward the airborne Kyokugen fighter.
Yuri is caught in a flurry of knives after an insanely painful kick. She goes into the air and begins to lose consciousness. In her effort to keep herself from being a total loser, Yuri attempts to control her fall to the ground slightly. Her intent isn't to try to land in a soft spot, but rather to try to land one last blow on Malin.

Malin is feeling a bit cocky after that last hit landed. But she wasn't expecting Yuri to still recover enough in the air to pull off a last ditch assault. Her eyes widen and she hops back out of the way. Her foot plunges through one of the tiles, sending her crashing over onto her back with a bitten back curse. She quickly sits up... but lets her breath out when it seems that Yuri's not going to be coming immediately after her.
