SNF 2012.08 - SNF: "Summer Days"

Description: While the rest of the world at large seems to be ignoring the fact that the northern hemisphere is in prime partying condition, Sakura sure hasn't! She's ready to kick back at a pool, crank the tunes, and possibly work on that tan of hers. Then again, Munin might have something to say about that considering Sakura's own fame within the world of martial arts! There isn't time to laze about when you could be beating people up! However, Munin and Sakura may need to watch out because Taiyo High has decided to hire an actual life guard for the summer season to prevent any sort of unwanted accidents or water related mishaps. Remember. NO RUNNING IN THE POOL! (Winner: Sakura)

The number of 'official' matches that Sakura Kasugano has participated in is... high. Very high. She's participated in many Saturday Night Fights, and so she's used to having fights with all sorts of conditions on them--don't do this, you have to do that. So the thought of fighting in her swimsuit is not a bad thing.

Not that she's worried about it, per se--she's wearing what might not be considered 'standard' issue but, despite being a bikini, it's modest enough, though it has its flashiness--it's made of a shiny, silvery material, but it's secured pretty nicely, and the bottoms are covered by a little skirt. Her shoes are sandals, but she's fought in sandals before...

The Kasugano, as some call her, is walking out into the pool area, stretching a little bit and waving to her fans! And she has 'em, 'cause Taiyo is basically home base for her, and that's a pretty big psychological advantage. She doesn't know much about Munin, to be sure, though she remembers having heard the name in one of her classes once--unrelated, she's sure--and she does remember Razor from, well, last week... or was it two weeks ago? She can't remember. Too many SNFs.

Across the pool, Sakuras opponent to be eyes her carefully and appraisingly. Munin recalls talking to Kasugano at Dans Dojo, right after the match with Fuji. The pair agreed to meet and fight one day....

That day, it seems, has finally come.

Munin HAS done her homework on this one, and is aware of Sakuras known moves. She only hopes it's enough of an edge.

She steps from the ladies changing room into the pool area proper, trying hard not to blush in her dark purple one-piece swimsuit. Definately attire she is neither used to nor likes in the least! She is also wearing the purple-tinted sunglasses from her match with Yoshimitsu just recently, hiding her glowing eyes from view. Her brown, rune-laced gloves, however, are the one aspect of her outfit that looks out of place in this setting, really.

Despite these discomforts, she blends into the crowd, using it to approach Sakura, eyes locked on her like a predator on it's prey. Once close and at the right angle, she steps silently from the throng to stand behind Sakura "Ready, Miss Kasugano?".

Sakura meets so many people that many one-time meetings just... slip her mind. She's not a rolodex, after all, and so she may forget people from time to time, just like anyone else. She's not a -robot-... probably...

Sakura is fighting with her gloves on, of course, tightening those into place, and of course her headband, her prized possession. Sakura glances over at Munin, recognizing the look--if not seeing the eyes, knowing what's behind it. She's felt that kind of stare before... but she lets it roll off.

"I'm always ready," she says, smirking faintly as she brings her gloved hands up, tightening them into fists, starting to bob back and forth on the balls of her feet, cocking her elbows out slightly.

And already on the scene for his third appearance on Saturday Night Fight is Rexton "Razor" Rodfield, dressed in a pair of swimming trunks and mirrored shades, armed with a glass of ice water and lounging in the elevated life guard's chair that overlooks the pool. It would seem that despite his insistence to the contrary, the coordinators at the Saturday Night Fight franchise have decided that the straight edge fighter needs a break from active fighting duty after the devastating match against Gato the previous episode. Apparently, this is their idea of a compromise.

"Hey, you kids! Over to the other side of the pool area," Razor shouts at a couple of students who are crowding near his seating area. After all, he needs a clear line of sight - and possibly fire - for what's about to happen. To that end, he has a hoard of poolside accessories in a big fishnet bag sitting beside his chair. Watching impassively from behind his shades, he takes a sip from his water cup.

Munin smirks at Sakuras response. There's that eagerness she almost always is seen to have. It's actually rather refreshing to see for a change. No false bravado, nor obnoxious ego. Just good 'ol fashioned eagerness.

Personally, Munin hopes Sakura never loses this gift.

In response, the runes on Munins gloves begin to glow brighter, and black steam begins to drift from them as well as the rest of her body as she assumes a slightly defensive stance. "Well then, let's not keep the drooling fanboys waiting....." another smirk, and her tone as she says 'drooling fanboys' becomes very thick with sarcasm, a dig at the pervs watching just for the skin showing. They know who they are!

How... flashy. Well, Sakura isn't unused to showing a bit of flair in her fighting; certainly she has more than her idol, though she doesn't aspire to being a flashy fighter the way Ken Masters is. It's just that her unfinished, untrained style leans that way.

"Don't care 'bout them," Sakura replies, after a moment. She's had -years- to deal with that. And deal with them she has...

"But you're right. Waiting sucks." And with that, she moves in--not with her usual rush, but with a measured, steady approach, moving at a decently quick walk. She has, of course, seen a little video of Munin--being the voracious fighter she is, she can't help but scan the blogs and video feeds and YouTube and all that--but there's nothing like actual experience, and so she tests Munin with something simple.

A kick. A snapping front kick, known the world over, really, her sandaled right foot flicking out and back, aimed for Munin's stomach.

COMBATSYS: Sakura successfully hits Munin with Light Kick.

Suprisingly, Munin is caught slightly off guard by this. She had been expecting a punch of some kind, as kicking in a place where the ground is often wet can be risky with slipping and all.

She "Oof"s as the kick connects cleanly, taking in the other girls overall details for a moment as she decides on her best course of action. Then she steps forwards quickly, sending a palm-strike towads the middle of Sakuras chest, and taking into account the terrain and manueverability.

Suddenly, the sounds of oldschool, hardcore punk rock start to play out through the area. The source: a portable boombox sitting beside Razor's lifeguard chair. Other than that, he doesn't seem to be involving himself in the match at hand - after all, there may be no horseplay allowed at the pool, but there aren't any horses present, are there?

COMBATSYS: Razor takes no action.

The kick puts Sakura at just the right range to defend against Munin's strike; the palm meets not Sakura's sternum but an interposed forearm, muscles tensed against the impact. Her expression is smiling, challenging, but not obnoxious; she's settling into the rhythm of the fight, now, as she takes advantage of the close-ranged exchange to throw another attack sequence.

It's a fairly quick sequence, too--a quick one-two punch combination, reminiscent of boxing, a leading left-hand jab followed by a quick right straight, timed so that Sakura's natural bobbing motion bobs her forward just as she punches...

The blast of hard punk rock reminds her of some of her friends, and that draws another smile from the brown-haired Flower of Ansatsuken.

COMBATSYS: Munin blocks Sakura's Medium Punch.

This time, Munin is ready. As the pair of punches come in, she bats each away with the back of one hand in sequence, though there is still shock absorbed by her forearms by this, which she ignores.

(Time to take it up a notch....)

She suddenly leaps out of herself, one version of her still in place, while the other does a leaping flip over Sakura to land behind her, striking on the way down!

Or DOES she?

As what may or may not be the real Munin leap-flip-attacks, the image still standing still swings both hands out before her to the left and to the right, a lance of glowing purple chi the length of her forearms extending from her palms, and vanishing again once completed.

Which, however, is the REAL Munin?

Afterwards, hit or miss, the leaping chi-image vanishes, revealing the one before her the real Munin.

As Munin - or the image of Munin - suddenly flips forward toward Sakura, the whistle hanging around Razor's neck comes up and blows loudly, though it's a bit hard to hear over the sound of the music.

"Hey, no poolside acrobatics! Somebody could end up breaking their neck," Razor yells with an even tone to his voice. After all, it's his job to make sure that nobody gets hurt. Well, other than the two people who are slated to get hurt in this match. He doesn't directly intervene yet, though. This is just a first warning.

COMBATSYS: Razor takes no action.

Whoa. Now that's quite the ability--not unheard of, and Sakura can probably name at least one person who can do something extremely similar, if not the same--but quite the ability all the same. It's quite an elegant trap, but it isn't perfect. The timing is tough, but not impossible, and Sakura, with the intuition she utilizes so much, suddenly sees just what to do.

She crouches... and jumps. It might be violating the rules of the fight/lifeguard, but better than than getting skewered! Sakura's jump is a short one, anyways, and as she lands, she's turning, calling up her own chi. the sequence is pretty quick--

--land, hands already gathered into her stomach, power flaring--

--turn, power surging, blue-white chi blossoming into existence, swelling into a sphere the size of Sakura's chest--

--thrust hands forward, releasing the blazing chiball.

And finally, shout, her voice sharp, definitive. "HADOUKEN!!"

COMBATSYS: Sakura successfully hits Munin with Medium Hadouken.

As Sakura ducks, then leaps, Munin tracks her with her eyes. She knows instantly her attack has been seen through, and begins to comtemplate her next move once Sakura comes to a stop.

When she lands, Munin moves in to further her attack, only to suddenly hear Sakura shout the name of her projectile! Munin knows instantly what it is being done, but is too late to evade! The chi-attack strikes her dead on, stunning her very briefly. Luckily, Munin has enough momentum to keep moving, and comes in low, a lance of chi forming on her hand as she goes for a strike at Sakuras stomach.

Should she hit, she'll use her lowered center of gravity to flip Sakura up and over, right into the pool!

Sakura's jumping does not go unnoticed, but it's not quite enough to warrant repercussions from Razor yet. He does, however, look a little bit perturbed, sitting forward a bit on his chair and reaching over into his bag of pool toys, pulling out a soft rubber imitation basketball, which he starts to twirl on one finger as he watches for anymore actions that might warrant him finally stepping in, so to speak.

COMBATSYS: Razor focuses on his next action.

This is sure to garner Razor's ire. Sakura fades back, just a half-step, letting the dazzle clear from her eyes--and what does she see when her vision clears?

She sees Munin, coming straight for her. A bold manuever, for sure, and Sakura likes to meet boldness with boldness--so that strike at her stomach is met not with an interposed hand to block...

...but a right hand that's punching forward and up, as Sakura's powerful legs throw her into a sudden, forward-springing jump, taking Munin's attack off-line as she punches out and then up, in one smooth motion, leaping into the air.

"SHOU'OU KEN!" cries the Ansatsuken prodigy, as she lands to the poolside deck once more.

The impact rocks Munins body as Sakuras interruption strikes her in the side of the face, sending her sunglasses flying!

She weaves a moment from this, head still turned in the direction the blow went, with an odd detail.

Where Sakura struck her is now a pitch black blob on her skin.

As Munin turns her head suddenly a moment later to look at Sakura, her eyes are revealed to now be brightly glowing, and the blackness grows as her chi coats the exterior of her body in solid darkness!

Seconds later, the only thing visible on the black form is the brightly-glowing pupilless violet eyes, and the matching glow from her mouth, which silhouettes her teeth.

Munin SCREAMS lke a banshee as lances of this dark chi fly off her body towards the shotokan fighting prodigy with frightening speed, attempting to stab her in multiple locations simultaniously!

Hit or miss, Munins chi returns to the inside of her body a few seconds afterwards, leaving her looking drained, and the glow in her eyes is much dimmer.

That flying uppercut proves to be just too much for Razor to ignore, and not just because flying uppercuts look cool.

"Hey, I warned you to knock it off!"

With that, the bouncy rubber ball is hurled at Sakura, aimed right at her head. As Razor settles back in his seat, his eyebrows arch a little above his sunglasses, and he pulls them down a bit to make sure he's seeing things correctly as Munin unleashes her attack.

"Huh."

The ball may just be insult to injury at this point, but the pool's rules must be enforced!

Sakura is just a bit too caught up in what the hell Munin is doing to really think about what -Razor- is doing. Thus, there's a sort of solid-hollow *thunk* as the rubber ball bounces off her head, knocking her a step to the side. "Ow!" she declaims, intelligently, glaring at Razor briefly.

And by briefly, she means barely, because Munin appears to be literally exploding with chi.

In Sakura's experience, exploding with chi is -bad-. Sakura's hands start glowing with her own chi, as she prepares to defend... and defend she does.

For her, it's akin to watching a slow-motion sequence, her pulse hammering in her ears as she reacts to each lance individually--literally parrying each one, deflecting them off away from her, absorbing a touch of chi to reinforce her for the next one.

It briefly sounds, with Sakura engulfed in the shadow, that there are some terrific impacts happening in there...

...but when the storm is over, there is Sakura, moving forward, jumping again--pushing off her left leg, torquing her body into a spin, throwing her right leg out in a slicing, spinning kick that arcs up through the air and down towards Munin.

Having exhausted herself for the moment, Munin does the only thing she can think of at the time: she moves into the strike in an attempt to rob it of power, and turn the situation to her advantage!

Unfortunately, this fails, and Sakuras kick impacts her squarely in the jaw, stunning her for the next few seconds....

She didn't even notice the ball strike Sakura in the head, as amusing as THAT is the think about!

There's Sakura launching herself into the air again, this time with a spinning kick! It seems that she missed the point of the ball bouncing off of her head entirely. Razor decides that this would be an opportune moment to remind her again what exactly he's here for.

"I said no jumping around!"

This time it isn't a single ball, but a barrage of them that are sent hurtling toward the bikini-clad schoolgirl - a beachball, a volleyball, and a foam football, all chucked in rapid succession. Razor truly puts the sport in spoil-sport.

Barraged by balls and things, Sakura whirls on Razor. Her expression is -not- happy. "HEY!!!" she shouts, already indignant, "I'm trying to -fight- here! SO LAY OFF!!" Right. That said, she turns back to Munin--trying to put Razor and his antics out of her head--and twists, again. Is she going to launch herself?

Not this time. She lunges forward--spinning on her left foot as she drops down, her right leg scything out again. Four sweeping strikes, looking to crash Munin's feet together, flowing into a fifth strike--as Sakura pushes herself to her feet, launching a final kick, a right-legged spinning heel kick, that blue energy exploding out around her foot on that last kick. "YA YA YA YA... HA!!" is what she shouts... probably stole that from Chun-Li, not Ryu, though.

Munin, at this point, is just too dazed from the strong impacts to her head. She once again tries to move in, to try to slip between the cracks, and establish tempo somehow through the pain, both past and impending. It isn't enough, and she slips up.

The kicks hammer home in her gut, and the finishing blow sends her flying into the pool, where she floats face down, unconscious.

It takes a moment for what's just happened to register in Razor's mind, but as soon as he manages to connect the dots between unconscious person in pool and lifeguard, he sets aside his sunglasses hurriedly, gives a long blow on his whistle to make sure the pool stays clear and slides off of his chair, before diving into the water after Munin. He swims to the unconscious woman's form and carefully repositions her so that she's not face-down in the water, before moving her toward the shallow end of the pool to get her to safety.

COMBATSYS: Razor has left the fight here.

... "Phew." Well, with that done, Sakura just... waits to make sure that Munin's okay. Sticking around for the 'winner!' ceremony is fun, but, she's not out to -injure- anyone, so she worries more about that. Once she sees Munin's alright, she accepts congratulations--then goes back to the locker room. To -change-.
