SNF 2012.07 - SNF: WWF Strikes Back!

Description: Heihachi and Kain meet so the old man can get beaten up in front of PETA. However, a crushing early advantage almost ends in Kain's defeat, although the prodigal Heinlein rallies and takes down the bear-loving old man in a much more spectacular fight then observers expected. (Winner: Kain)

In truth, Kain R. Heinlein does not care much about bears. Humans, as a species, are more fit, and so it's only naturally that bears be made subserviant. Of course, there's always the chance that some of the Kuma League bears will maul their 'partners' or trainers, and that's just fine too. What Kain is interested in is Heihachi Mishima. Kain is familiar with the Mishima Zaibatsu, and he has some knowledge of Heihachi, but he's never had a chance to pit his own skills against the other man. At least in combat; various subsidiary companies controlled by the two men have probably wound up competing against one another in the marketplace by this point.

The animal rights people are probably trying to make some sort of statement by arranging to have Kain and Heihachi fight one another in a bullfighting arena, but Kain can't be bothered to work out exactly what they're trying to do. In the long run they're pretty inconsequential, but he can look good by fighting for charity.

After walking out onto the arena floor, Kain grinds his foot against the sand for a moment, checking his footing. It might be better to go barefoot on a surface like this, but for fighting in public Kain does have a bit of an image to maintain.

Kain Heinlein is an enigmatic person to Heihachi; amongst the powerful bloodlines in the world, his has been the most quiet. But it has consistently put out fighters of incredible strength, just as long as the Mishimas and Krausers. Ultimately, he is also only here for one thing. A rare chance to test himself against a figure he knows enough about to get his old veins pumping. Yet, he has more of a personal vendetta against PETA. And that means there's going to be a little theatrics before the fight begins.
When Heihachi strides into the Bullfighting ring, wearing his standard armless black gi with the Mishima symbol on the back, he is also accompanied by Kuma. Who is dressed in a bright pink shirt that reads BEARS HAVE RIGHTS with a small silhouette of a bear holding a picket sign. He is wearing a red fez, and is covered in pro-Kuma League buttons. 'Not all fighters are human!' 'Strength versus strength goes beyond race!' and many other gems. People being to boo heavily, as Heihachi stands opposite Kain and starts waving to the crowd as if he were cheered.
Kuma immediately gets upright and starts dancing, turning to and fro so everyone can read his shirt. It is an amazing show, but people see him only as the trained pet of a crazy man. That could not be farther from the truth, but his purpose here is just to annoy the crowd. Slowly, Heihachi cracks his neck to the left and right.
"You're a lucky young man. You know that? You are at your physical peak and your technical peak at once. Look at me... I'm well past both. Not everyone can stand at the top of the world forever, runt... and I wonder if you have even edged out the old guard yet." He then slams his feet down, assuming his brutal and direct combat stance.
Kain can see it in his eyes. Read it in his emotions. Heihachi is not insane; he is a man who lives life the way he desires, and does not care how others view it. He is a man who is bored and disappointed with fighters down to the very core of his being. Someone who, like Kain, has lived his life without ever being able to call a single person his superior...! And to have that essence through over 70 years of life... he may well be the most dangerous of the 'oyaji' fighters.

Kain gazes calmly at Heihachi, appraising him. The runt comment doesn't seem to rattle him at all, nor does being able to see the iron core under the man's somewhat eccentric exterior. On that note, Kain does briefly pay some attention to Kuma, but then dismisses the bear as a real threat. More dangerous than your average bear, certainly, but that doesn't mean a whole lot to Kain.

There's a brief popping sound as Kain rolls his neck for a moment, keeping his gaze locked on Heihachi. "Those with experience are definitely a worthwhile source of knowledge. But you may be underestimating my experience... old man." Of course, Kain does recognize that Heihachi has a point. "Any of the old guard that are still alive and unmaimed at this point have proven themselves to be too strong and too stubborn to die. But that doesn't mean the people coming up from behind are weaker." He smiles thinly for a moment. "But just talking about it doesn't prove much." Meanwhile, Kain has not adopted anything that would be generally recognized as a combat stance. He appears to be standing quite casually, with one hand hooked in his pants pocket. For anyone who has watched Kain in action, though, this has probably long since ceased to be very deceptive.

"Nah." Heihachi states, looking over Kain carefully. His arms cross before his chest, and it is long moments before his grin spreads once more. "Right now... physically... technically... you are stronger then me. But that doesn't mean you are going to win. I'm looking forward to this..." Some people might care about the way Kain holds himself. But Heihachi is a straightforward fighter who focuses on raw power. He decimated Ken almost flawlessly, a feat that few could argue is anywhere near simple. Before Masters knew what was happening, he was defeated upon the ground.
"THEN LET'S BEGIN!!" Chi suddenly explodes out from Heihachi, blowing away the sand and debris for meters around. A bright blue glow that crackles with lightning, causing the majority of PETA to shut up and just stare upon seeing firsthand the raw essence of the Mishima head. Muscles bulge, veins superimposed, before he leaps explosively forward. His right arm comes backwards, letting out a growl before striking with brutal force, aiming to test Kain's guard... although he is not a man unfamiliar with raw strength by any means, not a lot of people could be called Grant's peer in power.
Kuma has stopped dancing and quickly fled away on all fours. He knows better then to be either a liability OR a casualty in a fight like this. "(I,I've not seen him this serious in years...!!)"

"Oh, I'm looking forward to this as well..." Kain has barely finished voicing his agreement when Heihachi is ready to get things started. Kain carefully watches the older man racing toward him for a moment. Then his left hand slips out of his pocket as his arm swings up deflecting Heihachi's punch and pushing his arm off to one side rather than attempting to simply wall up and let the older man hammer at him. As mentioned, Kain has some practice with fighting powerhouses.

As he's doing that, Kain's own right arm is drawing back, a blue glow starting to surround his fist. "Yes, let's begin." And then swings forward, bringing the chi-infused fist in toward Heihachi in an upward arc, with the intent of driving a punch home squarely into the older man's jaw.

Heihachi's eyes are wide in response to Kain's deflection of his blow; it is a move of raw technique and experience, having little to do with the prodigal amounts of chi he can manipulate like an artist. But he only grins broader, eyes wide. "Yes... yes!!" It doesn't sound like many people can flawlessly defend against his directness. But he is not playing games here. His opening punch was not a testing flirtation; it was a genuine attempt to break Kain in half. Suddenly, that incoming fist is grasped dead center. The scorching chi burns between fingers. And then a chi-imbued knee folds Kain in half, lifting him clean off the ground before a forearm strikes him in the back of the head, flipping the prodigal Heinlein straight over to land with a crash at Heihachi's feet. "Take me lightly..." he growls. "And I will kill you! Hahahaha!!"

Kain grunts as the knee slams into his gut, forestalling any attempts to defend himself against the rest of the attack. He slams into the sand, quickly trying to get his breath back. "...Noted." This is not a very good position to be in, though. If he takes the time to stand up, Heihachi will have him at his mercy. If he tries to just roll away, Heihachi can probably get a kick in. But Kain has another option.

Without looking up, Kain braces his weight against the ground on one hand, then briefly concentrates. Black flame begins to billow out across his body, then shoots up from him in a pillar which engulfs Kain and everything within a short distance around him. This usually serves as quite an effective distraction, and so Kain makes use of it in order to roll quickly away and spring back to his feet.

The sudden eruption of chi does not take Heihachi off guard; it washes over him, but his own crackling energy surges to life, crossed arms protecting him from the majority of it. His chi is not incredibly less then Kain's own in terms of pure offensive force -- certainly more then enough to keep him protected with the split second needed. "Good!!" he repeats, before pushing through the dissipating cerulean flames, flesh singed and edges of his gi blackened. A massive hand lashing out, to catch Kain by his blond hair. And then unleash an explosive headbutt right into his face, accompanied by a sharp crack of lightning!!

Kain attempts to ward off Heihachi's arm again, but he was expecting a punch rather than a grab. The older man is able to slip past and snare Kain's hair, holding him in place long enough for the headbutt to slam into Kain's face, sending him staggering back and seeing stars. Heinlein curses under his breath, clutching at his face with his left hand.

He doesn't just give Heihachi a free pass while he tries to recover from the blow, though. He doesn't need to be able to see to have a rather good idea of where Heihachi is, and he swipes an arm in the older man's direction. Black fire pours off his arm as he does so. The last cloud of flame didn't hold Heihachi off very well, but his guard can only take too much. And Kain keeps pouring on the flame longer than usual, trying to give himself a moment to recover.

There is absolutely no mercy from Heihachi; from the very first punch, he has dedicated every ounce of himself to breaking Kain in half. There is no time to breathe, no time to think, the only defense against the massively muscled Mishima is raw instinct. The flash of cerulean chi strikes Heihachi dead on, but he can be heard roaring... and before the assault is even over, he is suddenly bursting out, driving forward an elbow towards Kain's midsection. "CHECKMATE!!" he roars, despite his bared chest from the scathing flame destroying the majority of his upper gi...!

The blow into Kain's midsection is titanic in it's own right; knocking out every ounce of wind within his chest. Before three brutal, lightning-sheathed strikes are done to Kain's midsection, staggering him further. And then a sudden uppercut flies up, impacting right beneath the prodigal chi master's chin. He is sent skyward; spiraling meters into the air, utterly senseless and helpless as Heihachi begins focusing lightning chi into his right fist. "Haaaa...!!" And then the moment that Kain is about to land right atop the Zaibatsu head, an upwards punch strikes Kain right in the stomach yet again. A crash of lightning strikes down from the heavens, thunder rolling heavily. Grasping his suit, Kain's form is yanked off and then brutally sidekicked, sent rolling and bouncing along the ground away from him. "Hah. This is a real fight, boy. You threw one half-hearted punch... and now you are broken before me!!"

Kain bounces along the ground before sticking out an arm and a leg, forcing himself to slide to a stop. He's looking pretty battered, but he still pushes himself back to his feet, spitting out some blood and wiping his mouth as he rises. "You're right. This is a real fight, and it's been a while since I've had to deal with someone as good as you. So I don't need to feel bad about this. You can consider it an acknowledgement of your power." Not that Kain would, anyway, but there are people watching. It would be a pain to have to deal with the aftermath of actually killing someone.

Kain clenches his fist and the air above Heihachi begins to swirl with greenish-blue chi. But then the roiling mass suddenly shudders and darkens to an inky black. Then a split second later the chi comes crashing down. But it's not just a wave to smash anything below it to the ground. It pours down, filling the air with black energy and slamming into the ground... then continuing onward with a deafening roar as it chews through the very ground of the arena. The sand doesn't stand a chance, and even a good foot or two of the ground beneath is eaten away. Of course, Heihachi is made of sterner stuff... if he even stays put long enough for it to matter.

COMBATSYS: Heihachi endures Kain's Himmlischer Atem.

Heihachi simply cracks his head to the side, exhaling slowly. "Well... I gave you my all, and you are still standing. That's pretty rare for me, hahaha!" And Kain finally has the opportunity to fully display the raw depth of his chi mastery. Eyes widen, but Heihachi does not flinch away. He does not flee. Instead, he slams his fists together, and with another crash of lightning he brightly glows with chi himself. Before suddenly kicking forward -- right into the onslaught of energy. A suicidal decision by most people; he has protected himself, but that does not make the assault any less incredible. And for the second time in the fight, Kain will see him burst out from the licking chi. He is badly wounded. That much is clear. But he's also unleashing a brutal fist, aiming to drive upwards and slam his old man knuckles right upon Kain's chin yet again in this fight. This is a gamble. If he does not finish Kain now, he might not win. It all depends on this blow...!!

There's a great deal of force behind Heihachi's blow, and Kain has no desire to take it on the chin. His legs tense as Heihachi comes swinging in, and at the last moment he starts leaping, while bringing his arms in between his head and Heihachi's fist. He catches the punch in his hands, using the force behind it to add to his leap and getting a greater distance into the air.

Despite his injuries, Kain is still limber enough to twist around in the air, sweeping both hands toward Heihachi as he does so. A pair of black fireballs spring forth, orbiting around each other as they streak down through the air toward Heihachi. Kain, meanwhile, falls back to the ground on his feet, sliding back slightly in the sand before coming to a stop.

Heihachi is no longer rushing forward. He's breathing hard, sweat running down his face. Kain managed once more to flow beautifully with the force he has thrown; it is proof positive that when he is on his game, he is nowhere near inferior to the Mishima. "Hah... hah... this is why I hate my age..." He literally backhands the incoming Schwarz flame, dissipating it explosively as his forearm blackens. "I find someone who can survive me going all out... and these leaden limbs slow me down!!" With that, Heihachi bursts forward, before focusing lightning into his fist. "But it's not over yet!!" And then he unleashes another brutal uppercut, with a sudden burst of lightning speed. If the first blow knocks Kain into the air... an explosion of lightning would follow a SECOND punch, trying to knock him even higher. This is it... his body can't put out any more...!!

Kain's not in as good a position to take advantage of Heihachi's power this time around. He's able to bring up his arms to defend against Heihachi's assault, but while he avoids getting knocked into the air there's enough force behind the attack that he can't avoid getting pushed back. And while Kain may not be old, he is getting battered, and his body can only take so much more of this. Luckily for him, though, even if his body doesn't want to listen, he can still manipulate chi.

Kain's still got some mobility left, though, it's just mostly focused on trying not to get hit by Heihachi at this point. He slides his left foot back and then suddenly launches into a backflip, bringing his right foot swinging up to crack into Heihachi's jaw with an explosion of black fire, then continue on to bring him back and once again open up some distance between the two men.

COMBATSYS: Kain successfully hits Heihachi with Schwarzer Mond.

Heihachi is moving slow. So slow...!! He can see Kain moving. He can see the vulnerability. But forearms fail to get in the way, and he is struck dead in the face. The second blasts him backwards, and the old man staggers away, digging in his feet and refusing to fall. "Hahaha...! Maybe the new generation has some hope...!!" And then suddenly Heihachi hurls himself forward, kicking off. One brutal kick sweeps out, lightning surging over his leg, before whirling around and unleashing a second, both aiming right towards Kain's chest. But this is all he has. The landing, if he even manages it, would be on unsteady feet. Before he collapses down to a knee. Struggling, and unable to rise...!

COMBATSYS: Heihachi can no longer fight.

Kain wills his aching body to move back as Heihachi's leg sweeps in, narrowly avoiding getting clipped by the older man's foot. He's still on the move when the second kick sweeps out, though, and evades it by a larger margin. He doesn't stop moving away until Heihachi collapses to one knee. Fire springs into both of his hands, and he draws his arms back... then pauses.

Heinlein can sense the strength escaping from Heihachi, and it doesn't appear to be a trick. Even so, fire continues to crackle around Kain's hands as he watches the older man carefully. "Not all of this generation are unwilling to do what it takes to gain strength." And Kain continues to watch Heihachi carefully. If the man collapses, or otherwise makes it clear that he's out of the fight, Kain will back off. Otherwise, if Heihachi even starts to move from that spot Kain intends to blast him.

COMBATSYS: Kain takes no action.

COMBATSYS: Kain has ended the fight here.

"Hahaha... I feel it... the eyes of a true warrior..." Heihachi states, although he makes no effort to rise further. Instead he slumps down, settling into a cross-legged sit with his back facing Kain. "You are as good as I hoped, boy. But the edge of your blade is weakening... if not for your natural prowess, it would have been your complete loss." There's nothing judgemental or arrogant about this. No sign of his normal eccentricity is visible now. He's speaking to an equal, and that is a rare privalege for the ancient man. "Neither of us are suited to idly sitting and running companies...!! What is your dream, eh?" A glance backwards follows, looking at Kain with eyes that are far from broken. All that lies in there is the frustration of age.

Kain slowly lowers his hands, letting the flames die out. He looks silently at Heihachi for a moment. Then raises his gaze to glance around the audience in the arena briefly before looking back to Heihachi. "Business may not be as personally fulfilling as fighting, but in this world there are threats that can from all sorts of different angles, and take different kinds of strength. And everyone has need to be strong. Some just don't realize it." He angles his head in regards to the cameras, and gives a brief smile that probably only Heihachi can see the coldness of. Then he turns and begins walking off, to the cheers of the crowd.

That may or may not have been an answer to Heihachi's question.

The ferocity of the fighting shut up the entire stadium of people; even now, once it is over, they are more murmuring then anything else. This was certainly not Kain admonishing the old man for his bizarre behavior and fetish for bears... Ken may have underestimated Heihachi in that regard. "I'm not satisfied with that answer, boy." Heihachi calls out, finally pushing up to his feet slowly. Unsteady, but the fight is over. Kuma has galloped over, and Heihachi grudgingly leans against him. "But I can beat that out of you next time..." The glance back would let Kain know -- some things are not for the public eyes. Regardless, the meeting betwween the two is concluded, and he begins walking back towards his side. People remember how terrible he is now and start throwing things and booing, made all the worse when Heihachi pumps his arms at them as if in victory.
