LAOS
18 FEB 20XX, 1930 HOURS
A battalion of troops pours over the Chinese border from Yunnan Province on the orders of the People's Republic of China. Driven forth on the orders of a maniacal madman seeking world domination, and fueled by the patriotic fervor that only a communist regime can instill on its people.
The People's Republic of China's 1st Infantry Battalion swarms through the valley from Puar, seeking to bring everything in its path to heel... or to the torch. Is there anyone who will fight for the people of Laos, people who cannot possibly defend themselves from the armed might of the PRC?

Maki Genryuusai has heard about what's going on, and just so happened to be in Japan, visiting her relatives, when she heard about what was happening. She was able to arrange transportation to Laos in order to assist the residents of Laos against the invading forces. Sure, she's not military, but given how many butts she's kicked in her lifetime, she's a force to be reckoned with as it is!
As the soldiers come rushing in, Maki appears, tonfa armed and a fierce scowl on her face. "If you want them," Maki shouts, "You're gonna have to go through me!" She twirls her tonfa and gets into a fighting stance as soon as she's finished saying that. It appears Maki is not content with being a heroine of Metro City, and now wants to expand to Laos also!

Behind the front lines, the Commander of the First eyes Maki through high powered binoculars with a sneer on his face. "One woman," he asks derisively to the staff around him. "One woman before the might of the People's Republic?" He hands off the binoculars, and reaches for the radio.
"Mortar platoon," he snarls into the mic. "Turn her to ash." The solders hauling the mortar tubes scramble to set, load, and fire the mortars at the kunoichi, her postion relayed to them from the forward scouts. Seconds later, the launched explosives come crashing down on Maki's head!

Maki sees the explosives and tries to get out of the way, but unfortunately those explosives come faster than she's used to when it comes to fighting. Maki's hit and gets knocked to the ground... and rolls backwards and gets back onto her feet. How can a woman survive an explosive blast like that? Don't ask.
"Damn, you're pretty good, but you won't get me that easily!" Maki grabs a nearby large rock and, with a yell, heaves it at the nearest soldier. "Catch this!"

Glancing Hit

The infantry at the front are only midly surprised when the crazy woman in red starts hucking rocks at them. Several respond poorly, pulling out flamethrowers and unleashing their fiery torrrets of burning gel upon the rock.
Instead of vaporizing it, they reduce it to tiny slivers of slag that slash through a couple of troopers. "The woman is either persistant or insane," the commander comments. "I am not sure which. Prepare for volley fire," he orders. Infantry with guns start to line up, and take flanking postions on the young woman...
Maki doesn't care what you call her. She simply stands defiantly, still ready to fight against anyone who dares challenge her on behalf of the helpless people of Laos. Her stern gaze remains as she grips her tonfa even tighter. When the soldiers start to flank her, Maki doesn't get fazed. She simply watches as they gather around her.
"Glad you could make it to the party," Maki comments sternly. "But you won't be able to get me that easily. In fact, even if I let you make the first move, you won't get me!" She stares. "Go on!"

The commander snarls when he sees the woman's defiance. "Oblige her," is all he says. The command is radioed, and relayed through the ranks. Rifles are readies, and a moment later the response to both Maki's challenge and the commander's orders are made apparent.
Tungsten-tipped lead, in a quantity that would impoverish several smaller countries, blaze forth from a seemingly impropable number of rifles, all with the intent of making Maki into a mass of bloody pulp!

Maki is shot several times, and while the burning sensation of the bullets fly into her body, she doesn't seem to go down. She twists to the side, ducking down and gritting her teeth through the pain. She'd been shot before, but never like this. She feels her eyes watering up in response to the pain, but she refuses to cry out.
"You fools don't understand how to truly use a weapon to its fullest extent. Only a true warrior knows how to fight with a weapon!" Maki attempts to rush the nearest soldier and smack him with her tofna.

Suddenly, Maki is inside the troop line. One goes down, stunned by the ferocity of Maki's strike. At this point, proper command structure breaks a bit, as it needs to. Sergeants give the command: "Bayonets! Now! Cut her down!" Soldiers dutifully obey orders, fixing bayonets to the ends of their assault rifles.
As one singular being almost, the troops descend upon Maki, blades flashing and slashing, trying to cut the woman down so that they may continue upon their objective!

Glancing Blow

Maki's been hit by blades before as well. In fact, she knows how to spin to the side to avoid being hit. Although, one bayonet gets her in the side, causing her to gasp in surprise and pain. Her hand comes away with a little blood on it. Yet this still doesn't stop Maki in the least bit. She may be one woman against a whole army, but she's not backing down.
"Let me tell you something," Maki says, ignoring the blood now running down her leg, "I have a way of dealing with all of you at once! Let me show you how!" And then, Maki's on the tip of her tonfa, spinning around with her leg extended, turning into a literal human tornado!

Troops duck and cover, though some go down under Maki's whirl in a heap. Others, however, are patiently laying laser designation pointers on the young woman. Information is relayed to a battery of artillery assign to PRC 1st Infantry. "DESTROY HER!" the commander roars into his radio.
Seconds later, explosive shells come crashing in, knocking dirt, rock, rubble, and the occassional Chinese soldier about in a barrage of thunder and fire!

Even while bloodied and bruised, Maki shows that she's just as capable of dodging things like this in her current state as she is when she's not injured. She leaps out of the way, doing a sideways somersault on the ground, then lands in a semi-crouched position. At the same time, several villagers are rushing up to look at her. She attempts to shoo them away.
"Get out of here, I don't want you getting hurt!" Maki explains sternly. But the villagers show no sign of stopping. They look at Maki's injuries and attempt to apply makeshift first-aid to them. "All right," Maki says with acceptance, "But be careful!"

The PRC troops sense a lull in the onslaught. They respond in a way that makes sense to them: they reload and replenish their weapons. Some pull comrades to the rear lines, where they might be treated by on-site medics.
The commander simply waits, allowing the moment to pass.

Maki nods to the villagers. "Thank you for your aid. But I must return to the fight. Please, stay back. I don't want any unnecessary casualties!" Maki then regains her fighting stance, bandaged up a little and not bleeding anymore. She seems to have gained a bit more of her ability to fight as she advances on the soldiers again.
"Give it up! I may be one woman against all of you, but I won't hesitate to do whatever it takes to destroy you!" And with that, Maki leaps onto a nearby large rock, then flies directly at the soldiers with her leg outstretched in an intense direct flying kick!

Several soldiers are sent flying by Maki's fierce kick. The other soldiers, however, have finished reloading. The response is simple. "DIE, WHITE DEVIL!" they yell as they continue to hack at the ninja with bayoneted rifles.
The PRC doesn't seem to be taking Maki's warnings and entreaties all that seriously. She is an obstacle. One that must be removed by any means they have!

Maki finds that trying to avoid those things is bad. They are faster than she is, and Maki finds herself bleeding once again as she gets stabbed by the bayonets. She grits her teeth and doubles over, as the bayonet hit a bad spot. She holds her wounded spot with her hand. But the cheering of the villagers keeps Maki from giving up.
"White devil? What kind of slang do you think you are using?" Maki says, her anger starting to make her see more red than just her blood. She glares at the soldiers and then attempts to grab one of them and slam them into the ground.

Maki is determined to work her way through the PRC 1st man by man if need be. The 1st has few problems with that, really. Such an approach almost promises that she will go down under the wave of flesh and steel.
The 1st decides to make this something of a seige, laying down a wave of bullets aimed at forcing Maki back, which will allow the Chinese to bring numbers to bear!

The bullets do their job, and Maki is forced to draw back under the hail of gunfire. A couple actually strike her, but she still retains her strength inside. Yet, the fact she is breathing heavily and bleeding indicates she's not going to last much longer unless she does something quickly.
"I admire your skills," Maki says. "But firearms will always be inferior to martial arts!" Maki steps back and closes her eyes, beginning to focus on increasing her power mentally.

The PRC troops can see that Maki is wavering. It cannot possibly take much more to bring this monster of a woman down. "Prepare all of the rockets," the commander orders. Troops rush to obey, getting lasers sighted in on their targets.
Data is feed to the artillery once more, and troops are readying not only rifles but rocket propelled grenades, morters and crew-served weapons. This will, hopefully, be the last clash between the First Infantry and the Hero of Metro.

Maki finally opens her eyes and stares at the soldiers. "It is truly impressive that we have both survived this long. But one of us must fall, and even if I do fall, I will not do it without challenging you first." Maki steps towards the group. "I have been fair long enough, but this is the end!"
Maki steps forwards again, then suddenly dashes at the soldiers, attempting to deliver a flurry of strikes and kicks. Usually intended as a large combo for one opponent, utilized against a group, who knows what will happen?

Troops scatter like ten-pins under the blistering assault Maki represents. The commander grins. The girl did not run. Good. What will follow shall be legendary in its cruelty.
"All units," the commander murmurs. Open fire."
Hell is unleashed. Rockets, grenades, bullets, and more crash down not only on Maki but the nearby village. Given the sheer volume of fire, precision is pretty much impossible. Maki is not the only one who shall suffer for her insolence.

There may be safety in numbers, but when you can move faster than your opponent, then your attack is meaningless. Maki proves this by ducking down and rolling out of the line of fire. Unfortunately, several villagers are hit, and that really increases Maki's anger. "You monsters! You don't give a damn about who gets in your way! All you want is to get what you want at any cost! Calling you human is an insult to the human race!"
Maki advances upon the soldiers and attempts to show what happens when you make her mad. "Take THIS!" She yells as she delivers a swift swing with her tonfa.

Troops fall like wheat under the scythe of Maki's attack. "DESTROY HER!" screams the commander as his troops start to show signs of wavering. "Sir," one of the leiutenants stammers, "She will not stop!" The commander pulls his service pistol and puts a bullet into the younger officer's head.
"YOU WILL MAKE HER STOP!" the commander roars. "YOU WILL FIGHT TO THE LAST MAN IF YOU MUST!" The single shot seems to stiffen the resolve of the soldiers, and they fight with renewed vigor. Some of the soldiers at the front, seeking to prove their loyalty, charge Maki with blades at the ready. This will end only in blood. Whose blood is of little concern.

Indeed, it will end in blood. But even though Maki is slashed, she still refuses to go down easily. She stares defiantly, ignoring the blood sliding down her body. "I will see to it that this village is defended to the best of my abilities!" Maki says, before taking some deep breaths to try to get herself back in the fight.

The response of the troops is simple, spurred on by Maki's backing down to recouperate.
More lead is sent screaming at the young woman. Superior numbers do not decide things, but they surely help things. Likewise, problems can always be solved with larger quantities of blade and rifle stock as the troops continue to pile onto Maki, deliver strike after relentless strike, hoping to simply grind the young woman into the blood-soaked mud.

This time, Maki chooses not to attempt to get out of the way of the incoming attack. Instead, she stands strong, defending herself with her best defensive stance she can muster. She absorbs the attack, oddly enough, while only showing little signs of being hit. Apparently, Maki is tougher than even she thinks.
"I've come this far, and I won't back down!" Maki yells as she rushes towards the soldiers and attempts to abruptly drop into a foot sweep to take them off their feet... literally!

More troops fall. Others simply take advantage of Maki's actions to empty their clips into the back of the kunoichi. The commander cackles as round after round is fired into the young woman.
Other soldiers are readying weapons.
Maki is shot during her attack, and this hurts even more than being attacked in a normal situation. She drops to the ground, crying out as the blood spills onto the ground. Even as she lies in the dirt and blood, looking like she's out of action, Maki still refuses to get up. She grits her teeth through the pain and slowly pushes herself up back onto her feet. Blood stains her, and she breathes heavily and slowly. She points her tonfa at the soldiers as if to say, "No you don't."
Maki steps forwards, and then attempts to use her tonfa for a simpler, yet hopefully effective, strike.

The troops turn their ears to regard something in their radios. They start to melt away under Maki's offensive, leaving their fallen behind them. There is an ominous rumbling that can be heard.
Seconds later, several trucks leap over a small berm, all of them aimed at Maki!

Maki cannot get out of the way of those trucks, she is hit and knocked across the area, tumbling and rolling like a log, before she comes to a stop in a limp position. One last effort to get up looks futile, but she gets up. Although it's obvious she's done for now. Nonetheless, Maki glows with energy, and somehow begins to fly at the soldiers with her leg extended, almost like a last ditch effort attack before she goes down for the final time...

And even as the counters come at her, Maki somehow manages to avoid the incoming vehicles. In fact, one truck is actually hit by her kick, knocking it off course. And that's not the only thing that happens either!
Maki lands in a crouched position, suddenly with a bit more energy than before. "Ha ha! I fooled you!" Maki says with a grin. Even though she still seems a bit weak, her stamina has returned for a few moments.
Trucks are sent flying under Maki's retaliation. One such truck is knocked clear into the rear lines. The commander's eyes go wide when he realizes what is coming directly towards him. He scrambles to escape, but the truck slams into the officer.
It is clear that the man is dead. Once this is realized, the troops' morale shatters, and they make for the hills. They offer no further resistance, no further offence. They will not return to their homelands, knowing that their fate has been sealed with their defeat.
Maki collapses to the ground, wounded, but alive. The villagers begin to cheer and rush to help her up while praising her for her bravery and courage. Maki simply shakes it off and says, "It was nothing. I just wanted to help out in any way I could. This war is not going away anytime soon, and I'll do my best to help out whenever I can." She sighs as she suddenly bends one knee and finds it's a bit tender. "I need medical attention though..."
