Description: It's Club Day at Taiyo High and Xian is shilling for the Fight Club! Momoko comes along to try her hand at it, and maybe get a taste of what it'll be like at Taiyo! Yes, fight ensues. (Winner: Xian)
Orientation day! A day when all the various clubs turn out, lining the Dome Arena in various agreed-upon pathways, with booths built up to extol the virtues of their various clubs. There's several--amongst the many clubs, all the sports clubs--tennis, soccer, baseball, bowling, Combat Photography, Combat Cooking, Non-Combat Swordplay...
There's way more than can be mentioned here, essentially lining a long, wide avenue. But at the end of that avenue is, well, a big booth. But it isn't a well-built booth--or so it seems, and scrawled across the top in a cheeky, childish font, are the words 'Fight Club'. It's well-manned, but fronting it is a youngish-looking girl, wearing her variation on the Taiyo High uniform--not too far off, but with a couple of things added--gloves, bike pants...
And she's waving pamphlets and shouting--and looking around for challengers! The reason the Fight Club is at the end is not because they're the most popular or populous, but because they have a full-on fight ring set up to the side, with a big sign: "ALL CHALLENGERS WELCOME!! DEFEAT THE FIGHTER OF THE HOUR AND GET A PRIZE!!!"
"Come one, come all! Join the Fight Club! ... Don't worry, you -can- talk about it!!!"
One of the girls coming to check out this booth might seem way out of place based on her uniform. Like the fact she's wearing a black top with somewhat loose fitting pants. And did we mention she's barefoot too? Well, she may seem out of the ordinary, but that's just the way that the cute superstar known as Momoko likes to be. And it just so happens that Momoko is skipping towards where the Fight Club booth is.
"Hello! Momoko's here to check out the fight club!" Momoko exclaims in her cheerful, spunky voice. "Who's the fighter of the hour? Can Momoko take them on?" Momoko stands by eagerly waiting for an answer.
Whoa! Little girl!! Xian stops and turns to look at Momoko. Well, not -so- little, maybe. Xian breaks into a grin as Momoko pipes up. "That's what we wanna hear! A girl with guts!!" A little scrawny, comparatively, but Xian well knows that physical size isn't necessarily an indicator of, well, anything. So she tosses the pamphlets back and gestures to the ring, with a grin as she heads for it.
"I'm Xian, I'm the fighter of the hour, and it'll be my pleasure to take you on!!" So saying, she takes about four steps before jumping into the ring--jumping high, turning three tumbles before coming down on her feet with a *wham* that shakes the ring mat, tightening her gloves.
Momoko ooohs and cheers as she watches Xian jump into the ring. "Wow, Xian! You can do acrobatics too?" Momoko does a swift leap into the air, doing a triple flip, then lands on the mat as well, raising her arms like a gymnast. "Momoko does Capoeira! It's a fun way of fighting! Momoko loves it, and everyone who knows Momoko loves her!" She looks around and waves to those who are spectating, hoping there might be spectators who know who she is, before turning to face Xian again. "So, does Xian wanna fight Momoko?"
Xian grins, almost confidentially, as someone else brings up a bullhorn and starts advertising the fight. Those of the students who can get away from their booths to come watch start gathering, cheering about equally for Xian, the new girl, as for Momoko, the younger one. Xian stretches, arms up, then to one side, then the other, and smiles more widely. "Capoeira, huh? Should be fun! And you bet I want to fight! But only if -you- want to fight," she says, smilingly, putting her hands on her hips and striking a pose that way. "So if you wanna fight, better get on up in here!"
Momoko spins into her spot opposite from Xian and smiles. "Momoko's not holding anything back! Momoko's no kiddly-diddly-doo!" She says with a giggle. "Momoko's a Capoeira girl, and Momoko's going to fight well and win!" A quick hop up and down as if to say 'Oh goody!' then she gets into the ginga (fighting stance,) waiting for Xian to make the first move.

"Well, Momoko. If you're not gonna hold anything back, then, I guess, neither will I!" Seeing Momoko go into ginga, that odd dance-step stance--she's seen it a few times, but never fought against a capeoerista directly, she smiles all the more and adopts her own fighting stance. If Momoko's seeing Fei Long, she'll recognize the wide-footed stance as being that of Hiten-Ryu Kung Fu--but it doesn't look -too- appreciatively different from other fighting stances, save for the way she bobs back and forth on her feet.
"Alright, then, get ready!" She looks to the side, where one of the other Fight Club participants has hopped up to act as referee, and he chops his left hand down and shouts, "FIGHT!"
And that, that is a signal, for it sends Xian off running, right up to Momoko--and then stopping and reversing her momentum, throwing herself into a backflip--with a double-toed kick aimed for Momoko's chin... and a flare of red-orange chi flame tracing an arc through the air as it blazes into existence on her feet.

"Yay! It's time to fight!" Momoko says as she continues to maintain her ginga, while watching Xian and waiting to see what her rival is capable of doing. "What are you going to do first?" Then Xian comes at Momoko and the girl brings her guard up to protect her chin. "Oooh, you almost hit Momoko, but no good!"
Momoko spins around and then attempts to deliver a spinning side kick towards Xian's side, all without losing her momentum at the same time.

Xian's backflip leaves her in good position to react--and react she does, blocking that spinning kick with an interposed elbow and upper arm, thrusting her body into it to offset the impact further. She has to crouch a little to do that and so she turns the semi-crouching position into a fully crouched one.
As she does, she drops to her left hand as she sweeps out with her right leg, looking to trip Momoko up--she has the sense that the girl is likely very fast, and so she's looking to set up for a somewhat longer game, so to speak, testing reactions first...

Testing reactions? Well, Momoko knows how to react when she's going to be tripped up. In fact, just before she's tripped, Momoko goes into a handstand and attempts to do a dropping heel kick at Xian, but she hits just as Xian hits, meaning Momoko's hit in the hand and she slips to the mat. Fortunately, Momoko somersaults back onto her feet and resumes her ginga.
"This is fun! Momoko likes this!" Momoko exclaims as she realizes she's getting a good challenge before the fight has even gone into full swing. "Come on, Momoko's ready for more!"
"Oof!" Xian gets kicked in the head, but it isn't terrible bad--she's had worse. Still, as Momoko somersaults up, Xian is rising to her feet as well. "Not bad, Momoko, not bad!" Loosening herself up again, Xian grins, despite the lingering soreness of the blow to the head, and she resumes her fighting stance after no more than moment.
"Alright, you want to keep going, then let's keep going!" The cheers are only sounding louder and more enthusiastic, which is not to say raucous, as the fight goes on--both partisan and non-partisan alike. Xian grins at the crowd, a smile that says 'look at the fun *I'm* having!'...
...and then she moves in again, aiming a quick left-right combination, a jab followed by a right cross. She went low, now high!

"Come on! Come on!" Momoko says eagerly, watching as Xian comes at her. "Momoko's ready!" And Momoko sure is ready, because just as Xian makes contact, Momoko rolls on the ground, rolling into Xian, and then delivering a swift toe kick. Momoko's hit, but so is Xian. In fact, as soon as Momoko leaps back onto her feet, Momoko giggles and says, "Seems Momoko knows what Xian is planning?"
Bowled over, Xian rolls a few times before popping back to her feet. "Maybe you do," she says, with a little smile. "You're certainly doing really great right now!" Xian takes a deep breath, then shakes her head. "Gotta change things up a little," she says, to herself. And that -hurt-, too, Xian adds, to herself, as she halts her headlong charge. It's probably obvious that she shouldn't just charge in again, but that's fine--it should be expected that she'd take a pass this time...

Momoko watches Xian as she makes her comment and then stands by. "So, you're not doing anything? Well, too bad, because Momoko isn't done fighting yet!" The Capoeira fighter cartwheels towards Xian, and attempts to deliver a swift kick, and if that connects, she'll transition into a leg-scissor style takedown.

"Well," she comments, as Momoko chides her for not acting, "Sifu always told me that sometimes the best action is -in-action...!" And sifu is proved correct in this instance, as Xian traps that swift kick, freezing the young girl in place--and shifting her out of position.
But that's not where the counterattack comes in--Xian throws herself into a standing backflip, structurally similar to the attack she opened the fight with, but without that flare of chi... and it impacts Momoko's chin this time, as Xian lets go of the trap, in order to land on her hands and then get back to her fighting stance.
Momoko is surprised to be caught in the chin, and she flips head over heels onto the mat, landing flat on her stomach. But a few seconds later, the girl pushes herself back up onto her feet. She shows a slight bruise on her chin, but still seems eager to keep fighting. "Momoko was caught off-guard, but she's not done yet!" Momoko spins into the air again, this time attempting a backsault as she flies at Xian, attempting to deliver a kick while doing so.
And yes, Momoko's using all kicking techniques. It's just how her style is practiced!

"God, I love watching capoeristas fight! You're all so -acrobatic-!" And the folha is an impressive technique, for sure--but Xian sees it coming and raises her arms, anticipating the impact and accounting for it--even for the sting of pain on impact. As she draws back, she attempts to catch Momoko while in the air--
--with another of those flaming backflip kicks, her toes again carving that arcing blaze out. As she does so, this time she releases a loud, sharp kiai, one that's echoed by some of her fellow Fight Clubbers!

Glancing Blow

Momoko tries to avoid the incoming attack, but it grazes her and she stumbles back a little. She holds her side in pain and looks up at Xian. "That wasn't nice!" Momoko exclaims suddenly, her mood changing from cheerful to angry. Apparently, that hit may not have hit hard, but it's ticked Momoko off... or has it?
Suddenly, Momoko shakes her head and realizes what she's doing. "No, Momoko... don't get angry! Remember what Athena told you?" She says to herself. With that, Momoko stops her ginga and steps back, humming her favorite song to herself to help calm herself down and avoid getting angry.

"Wasn't nice? Huh, I guess not. But this is a fight! Being nice comes before and after!" Xian doesn't seem to be too overly concerned with Momoko's sudden outburst, though she adopts a confused expression for a moment. "Ah ah ah, can't rest yet!" she calls, cheerily, as she charges forward, stopping short and throwing a quick, thrusting side-kick for Momoko's sternum, maybe looking to capitalize on a slight reach advantage with her longer legs.

Momoko goes into a defensive stance as the kick comes at her sternum. Momoko's not keen on being hit there, especially with a kick that hard hitting! "Oooh, that smarts!" Momoko says as she steps back, but her grin has returned. "Looks like Momoko's going to have to learn to fight better if Momoko wants to keep going!" Momoko then steps in and attempts to deliver a swift, simple but effective, throw to the ground.

Sometimes the simplest of techniques are the most effective--the success of Ryu is a testament to that. Boring to watch, but incredibly effective, and not just due to immense strength, but skill and willpower as well. Momoko steps in and grabs, and Xian doesn't resist--she concentrates on rolling with the throw, allowing her to absorb the worst of the impact... and to pop back to her feet.
And when she's back up, she hops, kicking her left leg up high--and then bringing it down for Momoko's head as she drops back down, borrowing an attack from her idol.

Momoko is hit in the head and finds herself dazed and a little out of it, seeing some stars spinning around her head. She pushes back up, and sees that it seems that Xian has gotten the upper hand again. "Oooh... Momoko... doesn't feel good." She mutters as she looks at Xian. "Momoko should... should..." Give up? Surrender? No!
"Momoko should give Xian a taste of what Momoko can really do!" Momoko says suddenly as she raises her hands and gathers her power... then sends forth a large beam of energy at Xian!

There's really only one thing Xian even -thinks- of doing--she covers the hell up. The blasting beam of psionic energy pushes her back--all the way to the ropes--and when she uncovers, she seems, at first, to almost be steaming with residual power. Her face is contorted into a mask of pain--and determination.
"... woo... wow! That was really tough!!" The cheers grow louder and louder still, the crowd sensing that the climax of the fight might just be around the corner, their energy pumping things up for Xian. "Guess... I can't help but return the favor, can I?"
Xian grins, then draws her hands to her stomach, her legs taking on her wide stance again. Power gathers, building around her hands, and she thrusts them forward, shouting wordlessly--and she returns the favor indeed, with a blazing beam-like projectile of fiery chi--the head of the projectile shaped, roughly, like the roaring mouth of a Chinese dragon. There is a roaring sound, but that might just be a physical reaction from the air as it is blistered by the heat of the dragon's passage.

A dragon coming at Momoko is something that even she can only stare at in disbelief. She is knocked back and then staggers towards Xian, attempting to deliver one last kick before falling down for the last time...

There -is- a pang of remorse as Xian's dragon hits, but not for the reasons one might expect--Xian is sort of sad the fight's over... well, not -really- over, at least not until Momoko comes at her with that kick--but after Xian evades that, slipping to her right, and Momoko falls over... she doesn't really hear the impromptu announcer/official calling the fight in Xian's favor--she's headed for Momoko, turning the girl onto her back and making sure she's not seriously hurt.
Already the school-sanctioned Medical Club is bringing some members onto the mat, and they gently move Xian aside to tend to Momoko themselves. Xian smiles, and bows in Momoko's direction. "Good fight, Momoko-chan. I hope you come to Taiyo!"
Momoko is busy lying on the ground, trying to regain her strength. But a slight thumbs up confirms that she may have heard what Xian suggested....
