KOF 2011 II.Awakenings - [KOF II: Match] Hero Team vs Shadaloo Team

Description: Ayers Rock is known at Uluru by the native cultures of Australia. It is a site of immense cultural significance: So much so that tourists are encouraged NOT to climb it. This can little explain the strange visions going on during the battle between Shadaloo Team and Hero Team. A tense struggle between two skilled teams is only made worse. Painful memories are buried for a reason. (Winners: Shadaloo Team) (By Forfeit)

Most fighters wouldn't read too deeply into this round's choices of location. Some of the oldest landmarks in the world, only a wisened few recognize them for places of power...whether or not they understand what that power is. Reiji Oogami is one of the few who has been clued in to what's really going on.

"Praemonitus, praemunitus. A preparation for the call to arms.", spoke The Lady.

While those who have gathered at Ayers Rock have done so primarily to observe the mind blowing fight that is sure to happen here, those who paid the premiums to be here in person are treated to quite the stunning sight. Ayers is known for its warm red glow in direct sunlight, but the skies above are unusually dark, casting a rarely glimpsed purple hue to the well-known landmark. More than a few have brought their umbrellas, and the participants? Well...it takes more than the threat of fighters getting wet to call off an event on account of the rain. And this isn't just any event. This is KING OF FIGHTERS.

Standing opposite the Shadaloo corner is the flame-haired Reiji, who is oddly...contemplative for one with such a reputation for being easy-going. Eyes closed, arms slightly rised at either side of him, he's apparently engaged in a meditation of sorts. One might mistake him for an ascetic if it weren't for that sloppy length of belt that's left to hang from his waist. He's not as powerful as the Lady, but if what she said is true, things only need the slightest of nudges...

"Why don't I have a mommy?" The voice comes not from either combatant, but a small girl several feet away, invisible and inaudible to all but those closest to the audience. Dark-haired, round faced, and dressed vaguely reminescent of a priestess, one would not be faulted for incorrectly guessing that she is a younger Chizuru Yata. But the spectre standing beside her, a second Reiji Oogami, kneels down and ruffles the youngster's head. "Aww, don't say that. You do, and she watches over you every day. You don't want to make her sad, do you?"

...The real Reiji cracks an eye then, brow quirked. "Well, that was unexpected." A wistful smirk tugging at the side of his face, he shifts his weight into a defensive stand and turns his attention fully to the other side of the arena. "So, which one of you is up first?"

COMBATSYS: Reiji has started a fight here.

A piece on a chestboard: A pawn, a tool. Though she aspires to be something more, the Taekwondoka known as Juri Han is still very much directed by the hands of those who do not have her best interests at heart. She has no idea why she's here, very little information behind the truth of this tournament, what that weird chi is or anything at all! Only the orders of a man she despises, her own hatred, and a gnawing sensation in the back of her mind.

For now she is kneeling on the other side of the battlefield, her eyes barely open as narrow slits. What is the name of that feeling again, she wonders? Anxiety? Dread? Juri doesn't know, she can only barely recognize it by comparing it to dull echoes of the past. Her gloved hand has dipped onto the ground and she has spent the last fifteen minutes or so idly drawing in the dirt. Something to pass the time? What is she drawing?

'boredKILLboredKILLboredKILLboredKILLboredKILLboredKILL'

Perhaps it's best not to dwell on it. Juri doesn't even seem to notice the strange... people? In fact she pays no attention to anything else until Reiji finally asks the all important question 'which one of you is up first?'

Juri rises abruptly and turns to face the red haired man while brushing some of the dust from the loose white cloth of her pants. "Finally." she murmurs to herself, "I don't fucking like this place, I want to get out of here." A soft, cruel smile creeps over her face, "Good news for you. It means we won't have time to take it nice and slow."

"You're a strong girl, very strong. But that strength bears a great responsibility, you need to be careful not to hurt those that are weaker than you..."

The Korean's face twists into a sneer, and she turns to her left to growl, "That again?! I'm getting fucking tired of your lip Sag--" But he isn't there. Juri's eyes widen considerably at this moment, "... wha..?" But there is nothing there, nothing but the wind Ayers Rock, also known as Uluru. Nothing.

"You." Juri grits her teeth as she turns toward Reiji, "I don't know who is doing this, or how, but it fucking. Stops. NOW!" From standing still to a full sprint in a fraction of a second, the Taekwondoka blurs across the battlefield with enough force that it leaves an expanding trail of dust blowing upwards into the wind! When the distance is closed, Reiji will be on the receiving end of a rather painful spinning kick aimed directly at the side of his face.

COMBATSYS: Juri has joined the fight here.

Reiji has never had the immense (masochistic) pleasure of meeting this particular Korean. The malice born by her words isn't missed, but is still met with a cheery grin all the same. "Aww. Some of us like it slow!", he teasingly offers. But for all his outward casualness, inwardly he's mildly apprehensive about this opponent's attitude.

Angry, filled with hate...she pauses to snap at nothing, perhaps a ghost of her own past?...and oh yes, destructive. A forearm is raised to deflect the kick lined up for the side of his noggin', but the impact is significant, forcing his balance to shift as his feet scrape against the turf with the force of the impact. "Yeah, I figured you were the type to play footsie. Let's see if I can't help you relax some." Twisting his wrist in an attempt to find a grip on Juri's angle, he'll try to haul on it and yank her off balance. Should she land on her back, he'll be quick to throw his weight forward and drop down from above with a punch to her forehead. Apparently he didn't have a relaxing massage in mind, pity.

"I don't like this, Chizuru." A candid moment between the two with no onlookers, so no need for formalities. Or at least it was a private conversation at the time. Now it's two disembodied voices floating on the wind. "I've got a kid to raise now. Didn't plan for it. I can't just go waltzing from country all carefree like I used to."
"We all make sacrifices. Even her. But what kind of world do you want her growing up in?"

The pleasure from her strike limited by an unforeseen block, Juri's glare barely flinches. In the instants between the strike and the man's reprisal, a brief dialogue is shared. "Believe me..." Juri's voice is a heavy, unsettling purr, "... nothing would make me happier than to give you the tender love and care you deserve." What does 'love and care' mean for Juri? Best not to dwell on it. Her face does not flinch when Reiji twists his hand around to grab upon her ankle, pulling her off-balance so that she lands upon her back with a resounding thud!

Though right before his hand reaches her forehead, right before Reiji can deliver a crushing blow, Juri's left eye shines bright and she vanishes!

Or, rather, she propels herself between his legs with such incredible speed that it looks like Juri has teleported. Regardless she regains her footing in an instant, and twists her body around as a twisting vortex of purple energy gathers around her right arm. She yells a kiai as she prepares to deliver the punch to the fire haired man's lowered back!!!

"To be polite to one another!"

Juri's fist stops just short of its strike, but the blast of psycho power will continue on its path should Reiji be unlucky enough to stop it or avoid it somehow. Meanwhile Juri stands stock still, eyes wide, as another kiai is heard around her!

"To encourage the sense of justice and humanity!"

The voices reciting the tenets are legion: In fact, an entire class of young Taekwondo students reciting them as whispers on the breeze. Another kiai...

"To handle matters with fiarness and sincerity!"

Regardless of what happens Juri will drop to her knees at this point, and a shadowy figure of a man and woman. "Why is this happening? It doesn't make sense! Who the fuck would know this? How the fuck would ANYONE know this?!" A wonderful breakdown is happening as the camera continue to roll, but there is an air of discomfort now. Perhaps because an ominous purple energy is beginning to crackle in Juri's proximity.

COMBATSYS: Juri successfully hits Reiji with Kasatushi.

Okay, Reiji has seen his share of weird and unsettling things. For some people that sort of thing is a hobby; for him it's a job. But that glinting eye, that sudden instant where he's about to plant his knuckles into Juri's forehead and ends up punching the dirt instead? Those are warning signs enough *without* the immense radiation of negative energy surging from behind him. No time to look, the best he can do his throw his weight into a forward sommersault...but not in time. The force of psycho power crashes against his face in mid-evasion, the man spinning forward for one and a half rotations before he comes to a stop, clutching his skull in agony with bared teeth.

"For ages, we have watched over mankind. Protected them so well that they eventually forgot those dark times. And we have spent so much of our time *watching* that few of us can truly call ourselves 'champions'." Chizuru Yata, dressed in mourning black, standing behind a coffin. Maki Yata, her older sister, and victim of the first Orochi King to make itself openly known in centuries...lies within. "We cannot hide from destiny. We cannot stand idly by and let others do our fighting for us! Will you, my family, join me in taking this battle to the enemy?"
Though the shade of then-Reiji isn't visible, it's perfectly clear to his mind's eye. The weight of the infant in his arms is also present.

"Not a watcher...", the man mumbles to himself as he hauls himself back to his feet, tuning out not just the pain of a moment before, but refocusing his own energies so that they are more in harmony with the powers at work behind the curtain on this stage, flowing with them instead of against him. Yes, he understands very well why Chizuru chose this spot for him to fight. "...but a WARRIOR!"

At first glance, it's just an impassioned charge. A single left swing aimed at her stomach, with powerful, brutal force that may very well send Juri staggering backward. Bizarrely, it's immediately followed by a second, the air around Reiji shimmering as a second body steps out to fill the space left occupied, following up with a right-handed slug aimed at her *neck*. "Hiiiii..."

And if that wasn't hard enough to follow, the first Reiji then comes crashing *through* the body of his double with explosive force, palm strike aimed at her collar bone, both Reijis echoing their kiai in unison as the original drops into a horse stance to channel the power of the blow. "YAH!!!"

COMBATSYS: Reiji successfully hits Juri with Rouga Rakan Geki.

Reiji            0/-------/--=====|=======\==-----\1             Juri

Meanwhile, over on the weird and unsettling things side of the room... things get weirder and more unsettling. Perhaps whatever weird field exists around this place is interacting, and interacting very badly, with the psycho power flowing from within Juri's being. Perhaps it's feeding off of it. Whatever it is: Juri is positively immersed in whispers and shadows.

"Whenever you're alone..." "He's too strong for you!" "... scared..." "Please don't hurt her!" "... I'll be there..." "No!" "... be..." "Please stop!" "... am..." "Don't watch." "... I..." "Close your eyes." "... am..." *cracking, grinding sounds* '... there."

As Reiji closes in to Juri's physical self, her mental self drifts away. Fractured by her own memories, it's clear from the lazy, lost look in her eyes as she looks up toward the warrior rushing to attack her. Only the images are blurry, intermixed. One second he's just Reiji, his body charged with dangerous energy. The next he's a middle-aged Korean man wearing a business suit, approaching with arms out stretched. The next he's Vega, with hands pulsing with caustic psycho power while smiling that insufferable, triumphant smile over her. Hate, love, and predatory hunger diffuse into a intermingled slurry that unfortunately leaves Juri without focus... and wiiiiiide open.

"Da...?" is all she can make out as she reaches for the vision. The left smashes through her arm and into her stomach with all the brutal force behind it. She chokes up a small bit of blood and spit while staggering backwards. The second body appears, and Juri's eyes narrow as she growls, "VEG...!" Equally interrupted, this time by a fist slamming into her throat. A whimpering wheeze is the only sound that escapes.

One can only imagine what goes through her mind as the images of both the Korean man and the Shadaloo dictator stand side by side in her mind, and break upon her with a brutal palm strike. One can imagines it is not good however. And as she slides along the ground with enough force to scrape her skin raw, Juri feels nothing at all. Nothing when she comes to a stop and slowly rises to her feet. There is no mirth in her though she giggles anyway. A hoarse uneven sound as it tries to escape her badly abused throat and chest. "I'm so... /glad/ you're here. i miss you. I HATE seeing your STUPID face ALL the FUCKING time. i wonder have you seen mom? You MURDERED her TOO. i'm glad you came back. NOW I'll /SEND/ you BACK!"

Oh yeah, she just totally took a spinning 720 degree dive off the handle.

With an ear-splitting shriek, Juri launches herself skyward, performing a forward flip through the air before attempting to land on Reiji's shoulder with a spinning kick!

COMBATSYS: Reiji dodges Juri's Change-Up Kick.

All aboard the crazy train! Next stop: REIJ--err, Veg--that is, Mr. Han's--you know what? Skip it. What probably does *not* help poor Juri's mind is that her opponent darts backward, leaving his double behind to take the blow for him. Considering the clone is made of much, much less firmer stuff than the real one, she ends up kicking clean *through* it, causing it to begin dissipating. One can only begin to imagine how she'll internalize that particular experience. This leaves Reiji wondering just how to reply in this situation. He's clever enough to notice her personality fragmenting, but...when you don't know which version of you is seen as the good one and which is the bad, trying to play clever with that sort of thing has room to backfire horribly. A fifty-fifty chance of him putting the wrong words into the wrong mouth. But if he can make her think it's an internal monologue, then maybe...MAYBE...

As Reiji concentrates, a double him seperates away again. "You could be a better father.", dbouts it voices to no one other than the original, leaving him to blink dumbly. The hell? Since when do his own doubles talk, let alone give him lip? "You can *always* be a better father", he mutters under his breath as he concentrates ont he matter at hand. One walks to the left, one walks to the right, circling her from both sides.

"It doesn't have to be this way.", voices one.
"What's really important right now?", voices the other.
"Who's really in control here?"
"Is it him...?"
"...Is it him...?", the other echoes.

"Or is it you?", both echo as they charge at once, one kicking high at her face, the other sweeping low with its heel behind her lower legs to rock her balance.

COMBATSYS: Juri endures Reiji's Maboroshi.

Reiji            0/-------/-======|=======\===----\1             Juri

Her foot tears through the double... who is it? Who is that face reflected in her eyes. She can't see it anymore, it could be anyone. It is both, it is neither, emotions blur together in an impossible twisting mixture. So she laughs, and she cries, at the same time. After she lands her right hand reaches up and wrenches the bands holding one of her 'hair horns' in place, letting it flow like an obsidian waterfall around her right shoulder. And now the physical self look similar to the mental self, at least for now.

Juri continues to laugh as the tears continue to flow as Reiji starts talking to himself it sounds like. It's hard to say. There are so many voices inside and outside of Juri's head that she can't keep anything straight anymore. "I... really hate this... brain warping... shit." She mumbles, and stands still. What is she waiting for?

For something real to hit her.

The sweep strikes her leg, the other strikes her face. Neither hit seems to stagger her, though both strike with enough force to cause her to grimace in pain. Another facial expression to go with the laughing, the crying, and now the yelling, "GOT YOU! i'll never let go!"

The attack begins with Juri dropping down into a low sweep, her feet igniting in trails of bright purple psycho power as she raises herself off the ground like an incredible violet pinwheel. Should Reiji and his selves get caught up in the blows the result will be rather incredible...

COMBATSYS: Juri successfully hits Reiji with Kaisen Dankairaku.

Reiji            2/<<<<<<</<<<<<<<|====---\-------\0             Juri

Incredible in so many definitions of the word, first and foremost is pain. Each spinning strike propels the two higher and higher upward. The psycho power itself is basically pain distilled and personified: It lances through the body like hot rivers of molten metal, delivering barbs of impotent rage and agony. And within this psychic storm the voices seem to grow louder and louder, whispers past, present and (potentially) future assailing the broken fragments of Juri's mind. When she reaches the apex of her attack with psycho power swirling vibrantly all around her, the dark cloud above flashes ominously.

"SHUT UP!" Thunder crashes, and the downward kick brutally finds purchase on Reiji's chest and shoulders. Soon afterwards though she will be seen descending after him, even faster than his own kick-powered descent! All the while shades and shadows reach out for her, trying to grab onto her... trying to.. stop her maybe?

When she lands she slides a couple of feet, having to drop to all fours to cancel her momentum. Then with a turn, a potent upwards kick delivered directly to Reiji's lower back with disc-rupturing force! She holds the fire haired man in that position momentarily, before curling her torso up so that he can see her brightly glowing eye. The high pitched whine of the Feng Shui Engine no doubt finding his ears. She reaches up, gently carresses his face, and whispers, "maybe if I kill you it will stop."

Another spin, and Reiji is brought to the ground with incredible force. She isn't done though. With another step forward, her foot is brought up to prepare one final, brutal strike down upon Reiji's neck: To end it all in one fatal snap. But she stops, trembling: A shadowy hand grips her shoulder as a voice whispers in her ear.

It is her own: "To encourage the sense of justice and humanity."

Well, it was a gamble, and someone has to pay up at the end. Both Reijis seem to share a worried glance with each other when Juri doesn't so much as attempt to get out of the way, only to unexpectedly launch *both* individuals upward in a spiral of violet power. The clone is torn to ribbons - one or two of those hands that she sees reaching for her may very well be the yet to dissipate fragments of his double. The original isn't in much of a position to contemplate the matter as in the midst of internalizing the dual-pronged assault of physical pain and psychic malice, she's...wait, *above* him? How's he supposed to have time to react to th--

WHAM.

Downward he goes. When he catches a glimpse of her below him, he has a split second to register the fact that he's not surprised by that anymore.

("We sided with humanity, of course. Not merely out of self interest. We made it known that we wouldn't allow countless innocents to suffer because of the spot judgement of the few." Maki Yata, the previous head of the clan, reminding everyone of their purpose. "We are not a pure race. There will be times when you may wonder if they were right in the face of humanity's atrocities. But when your resolve wavers...remember who it is that you're fighting for...and ask yourself if their death would be 'justice'."

Impacting the ground with bone cracking force, he has a dazed moment to recognize his opponent poised for a killing blow...only to hesitate. It's long enough for him to force his unwilling body to roll, roll away from the danger, to get some distance before she changes her mind.

Getting back up to his feet is...much harder. Something, maybe somethingS, are broken for sure. Inwardly, he appreciates the restraint. Were this only his own honor and reputation on the line, he would merely forfeit here. Yeah, sure, that asshole Kyo would give him an earful, but that's what really matters at the end of the day. "Sorry...", he utters shakily, managing to force a bloody smile despite his split lip. "...but my little girl may be watching at home. I can't stop..." Arms are extended outward to either side. "...Not yet...!" Then thrust downward with highly concentrated force of chi, sending him skyward at a rather alarming velicity.

Juri Han isn't the only one who knows how to defy gravity. Letting out a pained grunt (missed by the camera) as he abruptly reverses his momentum and directs it back downward at a sharp angle, his descent is accompanied by an ignition of flame around his leg. Halfway down, that aura of flame redoubles like a secondary afterburner, sending the man spiralling downward toward Juri Han like a comet. Whether or not the hit connects, ground zero of the impact is met with a small explosion of flame immediately surrounding him, one that bleeds out what force of chi he had left at his command.

He rises from his knee, takes a half step forward with a dazed grin on his face, then his eyes roll back in his head as he falls in the opposite direction and lands flat on his back. Ow.

COMBATSYS: Reiji can no longer fight.

Within the fractured psyche of one Juri Han something very powerful, very large, and very much used to being dominant howls in frustration. The kill got away, the brutal satisfaction of watching a man crushed under her heel is lost forever. Though it is a lucky thing for Reiji, for moments after he rolled away Juri Han's foot crashes into the ground with enough force to crack the rock underneath!!!

After that she walks with purpose toward the fire haired man. She is no longer laughing, or crying, but instead her face is a mask of unknowable rage. The inhuman monstrous thing twisting inside of Juri Han demands blood, and so it shall have. Within an instant she can close the gap. Another instant to snap his neck. Another instant to bloodily rip his arm off and fling it into the cro--

"my little girl"

Those words stop Juri cold as the fragmented pieces of her psyche shuffle again, this time her blood lust being restrained. This man, for whom she sees aspects of the two most important men in her life. A view aided no doubt by the fact she has seen so many visions of her past brought to the fore. Within him now she can see her victory over Vega. Her triumphant laugh as she drives her hand through his chest to rip out what black, atrophied stump qualifies for his heart. What of Mr. Han though? What does she see?

Nothing.

Then all at once he launches himself in the air with incredible speed. Juri's violet eyes watch passively, her left glowing bright as it analyzes the incredible energy gathered around Reiji's form. The cameras can only see a slight aura of psycho energy gathering around Juri's body right before impact!

A massive impact that sends out an equally powerful gust of wind toward the onlookers. The force of such an attack even sends some of them flying off their feet, destroying or damaging some equipment in the process. When the cameras do finally return to the action though they see Reiji lying on the ground, and a seemingly unscathed Juri Han standing over him.

Witness reports will suggest later that Juri used her psycho power as a wedge to push through the chi storm that Reiji produced, but no one can be sure.

Once it is all said and done Juri kneels beside Reiji. With a sneer she raises her hand, gripping a fist tight as if preparing to deliver that killing blow. But she stops, yet again, and growls, "Stop being a damn 'hero' and go home. Idiot."

Juri Han will then sit there passively as whoever should come to recover Reiji and take him for the medical treatment he probably will need. She looks quiet: Peaceful even. Only another psychic would be able to tell the incredible turmoil in her mind...

K' had had something of an 'incident' the other week that had taken him out of the staring eyes of the media for a while. Last anybody had heard of him, he'd been off to America in order to see some exhibition matches. Matches which coincidentally had had a rather strong NESTS presence.

...He needed a bit of a liedown after that last hotheaded decision.

He was, at the least, recovered in time in order to step up and take part when the second round of official matches rolled around. He was passing familiar with the origins of the team pitted against them this time, though he had never found a particularly personal reason to care about these people more than he did NESTS. Watching the first half of the first match, however, warned him not to be careless.

He didn't see a reason to stick around to watch the conclusion. As such, as Reiji's taken off the field, it takes a moment for personnel to find K' and bring him over. He comes walking slowly along at his own measured pace, rolling a shoulder and slipping off his shades. A frown is shot at the girl across the way: she doesn't look half as beat up as he might have hoped. K' is not exactly one to give a crap about fair fights or even odds. All he cares about is a quick conclusion to the distasteful business of being in KOF in the first place. His utter apparent disinterest in the proceedings might almost be offensive.

"Well..." he comments, putting the sunglasses away, "let's get it over with." And though he remains standing as slouched and visibly relaxed as ever, in reality he's already slipped into a fight mindset. Not really a kid to put much stock in fancy stances.

COMBATSYS: K' has joined the fight here.

K'               0/-------/-------|====---\-------\0             Juri

As K' approaches, the strange woman does not move a muscle. Any Shadaloo member will understand that this is one of Juri's brief reveries: After explosions of extraordinary violence she tends to relax and grow calm. It never lasts forever, and in this case it serves a very specific purpose. She can feel it this time. The presence, submerged deep under the thick choking depths of her subconscious. It reached out to save Reiji's life, and now it is in hiding again. The last shred of any human decency to her soul and Juri is attempting to root it out, to subdue it, and crush it completely.

Any psychic nearby would perhaps be horrified by what they're seeing. For someone without any sort of psychic ability she's just some random Korean woman kneeling on the ground. And when K' draws close her eyes snap open and she rises to her feet very suddenly, and very powerfully. "Mm... a man who knows what he wants." She purrs, softly, "Just what I like to he--"

Suddenly Juri's mocking voice stops cold as her gaze reaches K'. Her eyes widen, then narrow. "You." As she says that, suddenly thick deep claw marks begin to appear all over her body. First the marks, then the blood that runs seemingly from every square inch of pale flesh. "... I... know you?" Her left eye flashes with garish violet energy, and just like that the claw marks and blood vanishes. Another vision? Most definitely. Juri shakes her head, "No."

Her teeth suddenly show from behind her lips: A horrifying rictus that is more teeth than mirth, "But perhaps we can have fun too. Just like that time."

COMBATSYS: Juri focuses on her next action.

K'               0/-------/-------|====---\-------\0             Juri

K' hasn't had a lot of experience with the dolls of Shadaloo. Moreover, he isn't a psychic, and can't-- so to speak-- read between the lines. What he does have, though, is a sort of animal sense for when somebody is tense. You develop that kind of thing when you spend most of your remembered life on the run.

Sure, Juri just looks like a random woman taking a few calm moments before the fight. What K' can sense, however, is something more than that-- a sort of tension between the external passiveness and some internal struggle. It's palpable enough K' has to resist the urge to lean back when she bolts to her feet the way she does. More so because it reminds him vividly of Krizalid. The way he used to get right before a kill. A quiet container for all the instability within.

That vision cuts Juri off mid-sentence, and this time K' does pace back one step. Okay... a crazy person, and even worse, a crazy person being touched off by all the weird paranormal shit around this place. His stance tenses, eyes narrowing, his shoulders lifting a little in a defensive manner. Not unlike a cat coiling up to strike.

"Like what time?" he asks guardedly, perhaps unwisely-- he thinks that if he had run into this woman before, he would remember-- before, right on the heels of the question, he starts forward into an attack. Sudden flames spark down his right arm, lashing out into a ring that cracks forward towards Juri.

COMBATSYS: K' successfully hits Juri with Eins Trigger.

It's true that Juri is quite crazy, but not crazy enough just to stand there and let herself get hit by a ring of flames spiraling towards her! Though if she thought she had a choice, she was wrong. Attempting to step out of the way, the flames move in an unpredictable pattern and she instead ends up stepping into it! The unusual crimson flames overwhelm her natural defenses and send her stumbling backwards.

And when she comes to a stop a bolt of lightning crackles across the dark clouds overhead. For a brief moment the scene changes, and instead she is standing in a blown out room with rain pouring outside. Juri chuckles softly as she raises her gaze, licking her lips, "Your chi has the same texture, but a different taste. Honestly the two of you are so alike it's scary." The vision of the backdrop fades, but in its place it leaves a shadowy silhouette. One that K' will no doubt recognize quickly as Krizalid, standing between him and Juri.

Which Juri wastes no time ripping through with a violent kick aimed directly toward K's chest! The force of the blow ripping the ethereal phantom with such incredible violence that one wonders if she was aiming at it, or K' himself!

COMBATSYS: K' blocks Juri's Heel Kick.

With a cracking flick of his wrist, K' puts out the flames crawling up and down his arm after the fact. Straightening up, he's about to press his advantage, stepping forward-- and then the scene changes. An entirely different place flickers around them. It fades away-- but not before leaving behind an unmistakable phantom. Suddenly, K' understands exactly what it was he saw earlier.

Claw marks. Someone mistaking him for another person. How did he not see earlier it was Krizalid?

The sudden sense of tense, heightened aggression from K' should no doubt speak to how he feels about Krizalid. And about the comparison of him WITH Krizalid. "Same chi, maybe," he growls, obviously touched off by the insinuation they're alike. "Entirely different people. I'm nothing like him."

His stance sets as she comes rushing abruptly towards him, and he catches her kick on his forearm, dispelling much of the force. Sliding back a couple paces, he holds his ground for one moment. "So he attacked you once..." Juri is only given a moment to respond, however, before K' is rushing to attack again, lunging into a snapping kick aimed at her jaw.

Disappointment shows clearly on Juri's face when her attack is refused by K's forearm. She's not such a fan of being denied retribution after such a marvellous hit! But no matter. She'll simply turn it around and show K' much of the same hospitality, raising her leg to intercept K's on and causing it to slam resoundingly against her thigh! Then with an acrobatic leap she backflips to gain some distance from the other fighter.

Landing within a crouch, Juri's lips are spread in a wry smirk, "Oh? That's really disappointing." She rises to her feet slowly: Allowing herself a couple of moments to display a seductive languor. An effect totally ruined by another vision.

Her left eye is missing. No, it's worse than that, her left eye is missing and there is a multitude of wires hanging from within the socket that look like they're attached to some unseen point above her. As for Juri she seems totally unaware of this change, and continues her seductive rise with that cruel purr of hers, "After all, he was someone who could really show a woman a good time. Though I guess if I have to settle for his stupid little brother, that's fine too." Is Juri aware of the weight of her words? By the large, sadistic grin on her face as she says it perhaps she is.

Damn psychics.

The vacant eye socket flashes with energy and suddenly the taekwondoka has closed the gap between the two fighters! With a resounding kiai she leaps into the air, performing a sideways horizontal spin along the ground. Two times she completes a revolution - at each 180 degrees of the turn intending to deliver a painful looking kick wreathed in swirling psycho power!

COMBATSYS: K' endures Juri's Senpusha.

The moment he feels himself strike a block instead of a solid hit, K' retracts and backs up a pace or two himself. Breathing lightly, staring narrowly at Juri as she flips away, K' seems about to say something-- or else, to just decide to clam up and finish the damned fight while trying to ignore the phantom visions floating about, like that new one that wires her very head to something unseen--

And then Juri talks. K' freezes, eyes widening, his very reaction a loudspeaker broadcast of just how he feels about Krizalid and-- indeed- the statement Juri just made. You don't need psychic powers to know that somebody's sporting some resentment here, some sense of inferiority-- and that Juri just slammed a hammer straight down on that hot button.

"You're gonna wish you didn't say that," he says, very lowly, and doesn't move.

The first kick slams into him, sending him back a few stumbling paces. The second, however, he leans -into-, bracing himself against the impact. The physical hit he can endure, the psycho power less so-- the energy lashes against him, doing its level best to disrupt his tenuous control over the fire in his blood. K' grits his teeth and seizes for it anyway, keeping hold of it even as he retaliates.

From point-blank range, he slams an elbow towards her chest in an attempt to stun her. Should he succeed, flames rip to life along his right arm as he follows up, laying out a chain of strikes-- kick and punch alike-- before a conclusive axing -kick- coupled with a blast of fire aims to knock her clear back and out of his space.

Juri cackles madly in mid-air with each spin, "Oh I doubt... THAT!" Though clearly she doesn't realize just what K' is doing. How he isn't moving back at all from the force of her attacks. How he is absorbing the punishment and preparing to return it tenfold. She is too caught up in the joy of feeling her feet strike home and the sensation of flesh and bone tearing and cracking.

And pretty soon she'll be experiencing the joy of her own flesh and bone tearing and cracking.

The elbow strikes against her chest with ungodly force as she descends from ehr attack! She coughs, and a small amount of fresh blood flies from her lips. She lands on the ground, on her feet, but can only just begin to clutch at her chest as K' begins to deliver a dizzying arrangement of fights. Each strike sends Juri stumbling back another step, before finally a mighty axing kick sends her flying backwards consumed totally within flame!

And so she lands on her back, her entire body seizing with pain momentarily. After such punishment one wouldn't be surprised to think that Juri was down for the count, done and done... there's no way anyone could have gotten up after /that/.

And that's when Juri starts to laugh. A cruel, mocking laugh that shakes her entire body! Still on the ground, still unmoving, she laughs uproarously before vanishing into thin air.

OK vanishing is not accurate when it comes to Juri. Her 'teleportation' is merely moving faster than the eye can hope to follow, arriving somehow behind K' to whisper softly in his ear. "See you had it in you to break me. Just like he did." The dust trail from where she lay and now where she stands clearly visible, and dispersing in the increasingly stormy air and illuminated by a faint purple glow.

A purple glow originating from behind K', that ignites into a bright chaotic storm of energy at Juri descends to the ground to deliver a sweeping kick aimed at his ankles! Followed by another sweeping kick, and another, and finally culminating in a helicopter kick skyward! The intention is to bring K' with her into that vortex to pain. And assuming it does...

... and in fact, it does. At this very moment K' might as well have been dragged into a whole other dimension: A metaphysical cage where Juri is Queen. The one respite it when the spinning kicks finally stop and allow him to float upwards in the evening air. Though it doesn't last long, for Juri can be seen floating upwards next to him. One leg is raised skyward and her entire body is wreathed in that accursed psycho power!

Juri's ownd ownward axe kick is delivered... with incredible force! The man's body will be sent crashing toward the Earth in an impact that is sure to be painful! Surely it would have been, were it not for Juri's ability to break the laws of physics and somehow propel herself down to Earth far faster than her opponent. She will land on all fours, sliding across the ground to cancel her momentum. In the span of an instant she will rise again, spinning on one foor to deliver a mighty upwards kick to her victim's descending spine!

Thus, with K's back firmly wrapped around her loving foot, Juri leans upward to deliver a gentle stroke to the side of his face. And he will be able to see something truly horrifying: The sclera of her right eye has turned completely black, and an inhuman hunger can be seen can be /felt/ pulsing just below the surface. Another vision? Her voice is a dry, cruel hiss, "Go to HELL!"

She spins one last time on her foot before delivering K's body neck and shoulders first into the ground with grace ... and without mercy.

--

Satisfaction bleeds into K''s movements as he feels each clawing, punishing strike connect solidly. If he notices the resemblance between this technique and certain of Krizalid's techniques, recognizes the way in which his very training ties him back to the NESTS he so hates, he refuses to acknowledge it. He finally finishes, sending her sprawling back, and-- taking a step back himself-- he waits to see if she'll get up. Not a lot of people do.

Then she starts laughing. Well, that's never a good sign. Neither is teleporting.

Though K' has his own similar form of 'teleportation,' this doesn't help him in tracking that of others. He starts to look for her, gets as far as turning his head... and then she's at his back. The comment she drops in his ear freezes him in insecure indecision for one moment too long. Could he be like Krizalid, and simply not know it? No, impossible. He could never--
The sweep unbalances him, bringing him to stumble. Subsequent attacks take him fully off his balance, leaving him prey to the last kick that uppercuts him upward. He twists like a cat, attempting to reorient, but she gives him no such reprieve. Slammed over her subsequent kicks, K' only has time and sense enough to wonder just what the hell Shadaloo does to these girls before he's propelled back-first into the ground. He skids a good way on his shoulders before tumbling to a halt in the dust. It takes him a short while to get up.

When he finally does roll over and make his way to his feet, it's unsteadily. From the bitter rage in his eyes, he probably isn't in the mood for any more conversation. This is only punctuated when, instead, of replying, he simply ignites his right hand in flames. For a few moments, he's still. Then, he flicks a ring of flame as if intending to attack in the same manner as before-- but this time, instead, he spins and throws a kick into the circle of fire, sending it towards Juri at higher speed.

COMBATSYS: K' successfully hits Juri with Second Shoot.

At this moment, Juri looks very much like some sort of nightmarish horror. It's hard to say whether or not this vision is from a future that will be, or simply might be, but whatever happened to her it's clear that it's very, very wrong. The whites of her right eye are black, while her left eye is missing totally: All that remains is a ruined metallic socket filled with the crushed remnants of what was once there. Her skin has grown pale to the point of being practically luminous, while wisps of psycho power constantly leak from her being. Her gloved hands dangle loosely from her shoulders, and their bloodcaked fingers open and close in grasping, clawing motions. In fact she is splattered heavily with blood from head to toe.

The Juri that is, is a disturbing mockery of a human being as sadistic and violent as a monster. This Juri is one who has shed any sense of her humanity and has become a monster.

But it is a monster on its last legs, and as the crimson flame impacts Juri's body the illusion is dispelled once more! She attempts to raise her arm, attempts to block the attack, but to no avail.

Instead the flames quickly engulf her torso and warning signs flash across her left eye's view. She tsks softly, and then chuckles to herself between her labored breaths, "Well." Raising up now, and resting one hand upon her hip so that she can look K' in the eye, "... I guess I can't say I'm disappointed in you, after all. Though you can do me one little favor..."

Juri lunges! At a speed the eye can follow, unfortunately. If she reaches her target she'll attempt to raise her foot atop his head and drive him into the ground with all the force she can muster. "Kill!" Another kick will be delivered to his back, "KILL!" And then a final one to the quite sore spot on the base of his spine, "KILL!!!"

Assuming she is successful at all of course. Either way once she is done she will collapse, laughing to herself as she does. In a soft whimsical voice: "Whee... how... fun..."

COMBATSYS: Juri can no longer fight.

K' is trying hard not to be unnerved by the sight before him, trying hard not to trigger violently at all the recollections it dredges up of what happened to HIM in the past. Of what happened to the people around him who were less fortunate experiments of NESTS. But the fact of the matter is, the worse her image degenerates, the more unsettled and unfocused he feels.

He saw a failed experiment a little like her once. Her image is already flickering over Juri's body, an overlay that does not differ considerably from what it covers. NESTS tried to fuse that girl with machinery, with several different classes of chi-- none of which wanted to reside harmoniously within her. The conflicting energies tore her apart on the inside. Her body looked a little like Juri does now when they dragged it out for disposal, past his holding cell.

The images persist a split second after his flames dispel the other illusions. They distract him when Juri comes rushing in a last time. She's not disappointed after all, she says, and the words bring him to hesitate one crucial moment, he who's always had so many issues with not performing to par--

He catches her movement way too late, his figure starting to streak with black chi as he attempts to avoid her. Not quite fast enough. Her first kick slams him into the ground. The second snaps hard into his back-- the last reminds him acutely of where he was earlier struck. Driven by the last blow, he winds up slamming up against the base of the rock face against which they've been fighting this whole time. And he sure doesn't look like he'll be up for anything further.

...Except then he does!!

A couple referees approach K' warily, perhaps intending to check and see if he is, indeed, down for the count. He sure looks the part. He's sitting, leaned against the rock, not moving or doing much of anything. They get close, like scientists approaching a drugged bear. And then, just as they're about to turn and call out that K' is done, bring the next member of Hero Team out--

"Not out YET." K' struggles back to his feet, glowering and spitting blood, and does something distressingly akin to popping his shoulder back in place. "Come get me whenever the next asshole's ready." And with that, despite not looking as if he'll last much longer than a few more traded blows, K' stalks aside to wait as the field is cleared for the next bout.

This location. While some are driven rather mad, see Juri, by what is going on others are more wondering if there was a reason why it was chosen. Or at least Sagat finds himself being in that category. He has seen the passing images go through his mind and the voices speaking of him. Trying to keep his mind clear of them has made him not really get to fully watch the fight and Juri's path of destruction that has downed one man and almost taken down a second.

'All hail the emporer or Muay Thai! You are the greatest fighter in the world!' a voice echos from the past as that single eye opens to look at the official that is prodding at Sagat to let him know he is next. A simple nod is given and the large warrior strides forward. His gaze is focused on K', but at the same time he tries to not let his mind wander. 'Go Hibiki wishes to challenge you. You aren't going to back out are you?'.

He regards the battered K' and he just gives a slow nod to the man. "She is tough. You did well." he tells the younger fighter and he shifts to take on his fighting stance. There is a slight stinging from a wound he hasn't felt for decades. One in his eye as he grits his teeth. "I must end this quickly. I apologize." he does not wish to linger here much longer. As time passes things are getting much too hard to keep from his mind. He steps forward as he lashes a foot forward to plant his heel firmly in the face of his opponent.

K' didn't exactly come out of his fight with Juri in top condition. Anything but, really. While he was given a couple minutes' reprieve to catch his breath between bouts, it wasn't anything near enough to prepare him for another full-length match. Much less one with /Sagat/.

Though he must know there's nothing but pain impending if he retakes the field, he's actually back in it even before Sagat arrives, standing in the middle of it with an obstinate sort of calm. Though the officials had told him he could rest a little longer, he had insisted to return earlier. "The longer I wait, the longer I have to put up with this retarded shit," was his tactful explanation, as he shouldered through their protests.

He regards Sagat, and Sagat's polite words, with the studied apathy that seems to be inherent to all teenagers, a slight shrug given in response that could mean anything from 'yeah thanks' to 'not really.' The apology, however, gets a little more reply. "Seeing how I'm not thrilled to be there, that's fine with me." Stupid Kyo.

Not to say that K' will just sit and wait for the knockout. The moment Sagat starts moving, he responds, cutting forward quickly in a movement that frequent watchers would have long since come to recognize as heralding an intent to attack straight through Sagat's kick. However, Juri really took her toll, and K' just can't move with his usual speed. Struck -hard- before he can complete, he actually leaves the entire field proper, a tent the first thing to break his hurtle. Onlookers gasp, and the officials rush over towards the wreck in order to assess whether he is still in fighting condition--

"This time I'm not fuckin getting up!" is their answer from the tent's ruins. Then silence. The officials shrug, and call the medics, and begin to look for Iori.

--

At least it seems like he isn't the only one that doesn't wish to be here. And while Kyo is certainly an annoyance at least K' does not have to deal with the crowd that Sagat has to. Being among a group that includes Vega, Juri and Balrog lingering about doesn't help ones mood at all even if he is on their side.

His foot slams hard into K' and the other fighter is sent off flying across the fighting area and into one of the set up tents. He just calmly lowers his foot and even eases out of his stance at least momentarily as he waits to see if the younger fighter has the energy to actually get back up or not. He soon hears that declaration and there is actually a bit of a smirk that forms on the former Emporer's face. "Smart move."

Of course the waiting for the officials to find whoever is up next means Sagat is allowed a moment to relax. This only leads to the strange images and voices time to assault him while he isn't caught up in the rush of the fight. 'Organize a tournament to prove you are the best in the world? That is brilliant. No one can stop you'. This only causes the smirk to fade and turn straight into a frown. Memories he would just like to forgotten and pushed back to not be brought up again are starting to stir from whatever is happening in this location. No, he does not like this one bit.

--

Considering the massive amounts of mental abuse Juri has gone through during her fight against Reiji and later K' one might imagine being unconscious to be a reprieve for the depraved woman. You would be wrong. Her restless dreaming is filled with haunting images of her past. Of things she'd rather not remember. Of the sickening feelings of fear that she can only feel the palest echoes of anymore. Knowing all this, you might guess that when Juri does finally wake up she'll be in quite a foul mood.

You wouldn't be wrong.

As Juri's eyes slide open, they only open enough to scowl at her surroundings. Still at Ayer's Rock. Still? She checked the internal clock of the Feng Shui Engine to confirm her suspicions. She rises to a sitting position swiftly, and at the same time dismissively shoving aside an EMT with enough force to send them sprawling. They were only trying to help... not that Juri cared. She just wants to know why the fuck they're still at this godforsaken rock!

Slowly, which is the only speed she can move at right now, Juri returns to her feet. Her limbs shaking slightly from the effort. A soft grunt escapes her throat, before that derisive tone of her voice can be heard carrying high above the winds whipping around the rock, "Fuck old man, what the hell is wrong with you? Aren't you done yet?!" A soft snort, and then she glances off to the sidelines. The officials are discussing matters amongst themselves, and it doesn't take a psychic to figure out precisely what they're saying.

"You've got to be kidding me." mutters Juri.

--

For once Sagat could agree with Juri. He just wants to get away from this place and hope the strange mental images and voices don't follow him once he is away from Ayer's Rock. Right now he is doing his best to keep his cool as his arms remain folded over his chest and he awaits to see what exactly is to be decided on. He looks over his shoulder towards Juri and gives a shrug of his shoulders. "They are looking for the third person. No one knows where anyone else from the team is." he comments to her.

Yet he has to wonder what happened. Iori and Kyo are not cowards. He knows that much. He might not like either, but for them to not show up something strange must have happened. Could they realize this tournament isn't important and that something terribly wrong is going on around here? Even if that is the case why not inform the rest of their team so they aren't left to be slaughtered by the likes of Juri, Sagat and Balrog. He might have to see just what is going on there. That first one that Juri fought. Maybe he can ask him sometime later on.

That single eye closes and he sort of tenses up a moment before finally being able to relax after another memory trails across his mind. He decides to turn about and walk towards Juri to take a seat next to the little psycho. "As far as I can figure we are probably done here."

--

Kyo and Iori ... Juri knows as much about them as there is to know in the Shadaloo database. Highly skilled fighters, considered high threat targets. The kind of targets someone like her would be sent after. It's not likely they ran off because they were scared about fighting. Even against someone as massive and powerful as Sagat. No, there's a lot of weird things happening in this tournament.

Not that she cared... at least, until they started screwing around with her head.

One of the officials gestures for her to come over, a uniquely odd thing for her to experience. The Taekwondoka looks at Sagat out of her right eye, and grumbles, "We should have been out of here thirty minutes ago. I hate all convoluted rules and regulation bullshit they flaunt around. Whatever. Let's just get it over with." With a slight stagger, Juri makes her way over to where the official is standing. The camera will capture the bored expression on her face as the young woman explains what is going on. Juri gives a few curt nods in response. A final eyeroll, and Juri walks back over to where Sagat is sitting.

"Win by forfeit." The Taekwondoka hisses those words as if they were painful to say, "Whatever. Just glad it's over. Anyway you go get patched u---" ... she pauses, and looks the gargantuan Muay Thai master over. Her eyes narrow considerably. "Fuck it, you go do whatever you want to do. I'm going to go follow up on a hunch. If you see Seth, tell him to keep his damn pants on. Or put some on. Whatever. I'll be back with his precious little toy before the next fight."

--

It even looks like he might not need patching up upon being looked over. The exchange between him and K' was rather brief afterall and for the better part of the time Juri was unconcious he was just waiting to see if anyone would show. While he was looking forward to testing his might against either Kyo or Iori it seems that will have to wait until another day. For now he is just as eager to get the hell out of this location just as much as Juri is.

"I won't be heading that way for awhile. I'll tell Balrog to do it." he says. Not that Juri would care more than likely. He sometimes thinks she doesn't even listen to anyone beyond enjoying a person's screams when she hurts them. "Don't over exert yourself. You still need some rest." He tells her before he stands back up fully and looks about one last time. "I doubt you care, but things are only going to get worse and I don't mean the tournament."

No, this is going to get crazy soon enough. He can feel it. Things just don't feel right at all and that just means he needs to figure out what is going on and see what he can do to make sure the world doesn't implode in on itself.

COMBATSYS: Sagat has ended the fight here.
