The Fall Of Thailand - New Arrival

Description: Haggar arrives in Thailand with a small resistance group. Splitting off from them to do some recon work on his own, he runs into Zero in the middle of business with Shadaloo forces. Trailing the NESTS Vice-President, Haggar engages Zero in combat, and both get a chance to prove just how simultaneously badass they are. Featuring: The Double Kancho!!

Mike Haggar, Mayor of Metro City, is on vacation. Most people, when they take a vacation, go to like a water park, or a resort, or the beach, or heaven because it's a vacation from life before their chosen divine figure sends 'em back down for another go. Mike Haggar's vacation, however, is the best kind: Aiding the forces of good and light to take down a tyrannical despot.
Haggar came here with a group of people, but for now he's split off, seeing something that he thinks may be a bit easier to do a bit more... stealthily. One might not immediately associate Haggar with sneaking, but he's gone through quite a few run-down crackhouses full of people with heavy weapons before. Usually there are less leaves but he's not doing too bad. He carefully approaches a radio tower at Nong Bua Lamphu, two pipes sticking up from his shoulders like samurai swords, bricks and knives studding the 'weapons' harness over his upper body. He's pulled on a tight black tanktop, switched his gaudy boots for something more practical, and has acquired honest-to-god camoflauge wrestling tights.
Suddenly, Haggar's progress through the jungles halts, as something he /should not feel/ calls his attention. It's almost as if his mustache has sensed something he has not, a curious itching spreading across his upper lip.

"--no, he can't stop asking--"

Someone speaking?

Thailand. A source of much chaos and disorder as of late, from whichever perspective you choose to look at it. Panic reigns amongst villagers seeking shelter from the merciless forces of Shadaloo, while it, in turn, must deal with the series of uprisings and resistances cropping up throughout the entire country. No matter what way one looked at it, war is inevitably a chaotic thing. It may be for that very reason that Zero found them to be so very unpleasant. Or at the very least, annoyances.
Even so, war brings with it benefits, and the disorder that is wrought from it ushers forth many opportunities for those with the sight and ambition to reach out and grasp them. NESTS has seen opportunity in this conflict, and that is why Zero himself has come here personally: to see what they can reap from this battle. Having officially, albeit still secretly, come to ally themselves on the side of the Shadaloo dictatorship, NESTS has seen fit to lend Vega both trained agents and weaponry to further his cause -- and in the end, further their own.
Slight obstacles and hiccups within their organization aside, things proceed smoothly; Zero stands here today dressed in what would seem to be a simple black business suit, elegant yet unassuming. He is talking with another towards the edge of the nearby radio tower; while his simple attire leaves much of his allegiance up to question, Zero's associate wears the distinct insignia of the Shadaloo military. Likely an officer of their forces. The what of their conversation remains hidden through hushed tones. Likely, this is just one stop of many the white-haired man will take today. Cold, gray eyes seem distant as he speaks something simple and quick to the officer, who makes a slight nod of his head before turning and walking.
For a time, Zero remains silent, watching the departing form of the man. Slowly, those ice-cold eyes sweep around him, brows furrowing for a moment. And then, without any further ado... he starts to turn, to walk off. Business is business, after all -- and he has a schedule to keep.

Haggar, carefully tucked away in the junglage, spots Zero. The moment he does, the itching of his mustache fades - Haggar takes this to mean that this man may be what his sixth sense was warning him about. Or was it the other? Or maybe...
That's why Haggar never pays attention when his damn mustache itches, that's not nearly enough information to base brick-throwing on. However, he /was/ speaking with the Shadaloo officer. Based on his guerrilla experience, it's always best to take out leaders and important people first, and let everything break down around them. A calm man can rule chaos. So, it is without much ado that Haggar alters his course, still keeping hidden without charging right at the tower, removing a brick from his harness. Shhfff.

For all intents and purposes, Zero doesn't seem like much. In the clothes he wears, he might be little more than a simple arms dealer seeking to profit on what might be the greatest opportunity of the year for him. One would have to look into the man's eyes and see that lifeless stare head-on to know something was amiss with him. A stare that carries straight ahead of him as he turns sharply on his heel, pressing one shiney, black shoe solidly against the soft earth. His tread is brisk and calm, his right hand slipping into his coat pocket--
--But he pauses. Suddenly, and without much explanation as to why, his walk carries him to an abrupt stop. Icy gray eyes narrow slightly in a thoughtful expression as he looks around him. Caution brings Zero to this stop as his eyes scan for something he can't see from this distance. But still, there is something amiss; like invisible eyes watching him from afar. "..." Turning slowly, Zero looks up towards the trees, pausing with a frown. "... Hm." But his stop does not last long; soon enough, Zero is walking once more, as if shrugging off the sensation as little more than paranoia to the common observer. But still, despite the easy walk... he's now on the alert. Something is out there; it's likely only a matter of time until whatever it is shows itself.

And even if he is nothing more than an arms dealer, something about him sets Haggar off. A kind of... familiarity. Something about his face, his body, his carriage, like a man he's seen before - but that makes no sense, he'd remember a head like Zero's. The other man's sudden increased alertness is not lost on Haggar - he supresses the desire to creep even slower, maintaining his current steady lope. A change in pace now could call attention to me, better to hope someone saw a slight disturbance and chalked it up to a hunting cat.
Eventually, Haggar finds a spot where he can settle by a large tree. Brick clutched in a large, meaty hand, he presses his back to the tree and crouches down, waiting.

He walks, silent, through the thick jungle that surrounds him. Zero doesn't seem to bring much attention to the watcher now following him at this point; instead, he moves further and further through the plantlife, maneuvering deeper into the heart of of the jungle. He seems intent to go along his way, to get to his destination. Yet where would he be going that would bring him deeper into the forest?
The answer comes when the NESTS Vice President comes to a full, final stop. The stop is simply no where. There is no noteworthy towers or even base of operations here, either for Shadaloo or for the numerous resistance forces. Nothing but trees and the occasional, faint rustle of wildlife. Zero is quiet as he spots; his hand flows easily out of his pocket, and presses against the side of his back in some sort of rigidly formal stance. As he does so, he looks straight ahead, his mouth parting to speak:
"You would be wise not to continue following me. Consider this a warning." He does nothing, he doesn't even look to where Haggar crouches; odds are, he doesn't know where or who his would-be 'stalker' is. But the warning is given. What Haggar chooses to do in response is something Zero only holds a mild interest in.

COMBATSYS: Zero has started a fight here.

One must imagine that Zero would have more than a simply mild response. With such a confident attitude piled on to speaking like a superior to a Shadaloo officer, Mike Haggar now truly believes he has found someone important, and putting the boots to him medium-style is not a bad idea. Zero has passed the tree a bit, now. The two are far enough from the radio tower that likely nobody will hear unless they bellow all of their attack names as loud as they can, and this attack has no name Haggar can bellow.
The wrestler waits for the space of five seconds after Zero's warning, then smoothly steps around the tree and hurls his brick at his head like a meat catapult.

Far enough so that there will be no interference. It's what Zero prefers, at the least. He does not need or want any assistance from Shadaloo forces; or hinderance from any of the countless, annoying vigilantes that skitter through these jungles. One he seems to have caught now -- or maybe, has caught him, as Zero catches sight of that sudden brick that is flung at his head with titanic force. He makes a small effort to maneuver out of the way; his head tilts ever so slightly to the side, yet he is just a second too slow. The brick catches him in the side of the head with a sudden, unpleasant -CRACK-, sending Zero rocking back ever so slightly as the thick slab bounces off his head. Yet, he only flinches from the strike; not even a grunt of pain escapes him as the brick strikes, and as it rebounds into the air--
--Zero is unbelievably quick to grab it.
A single, gloved hand /darts/ out through the air, taking a firm hold of the makeshift weapon he was just assaulted with. "Very well then." Its his only statement to his unseen attacker, before he reels back with brick in hand... and simply /THROWS/ it back to its sender with uncanny force, meant to strike his attacker soundly and give the NESTS agent a good idea of his location.

The brick was unnecessary to give Zero an idea of Haggar's location, because Haggar is now crashing through the underbrush directly at him. He's grinning fiercely - this is his first real throwdown in Thailand, and he wants to prove himself. His fist lashes out as his own brick comes back to him. The impact is such that the brick is reduced instantly to dust, and Haggar keeps moving right on through, hand opening up as he nears. "You and me are going to have a little talk!"
The big man tries to grab onto the shoulder of the NESTS VP and yank him inappropriately close, and then wrap his arms around him nice and tight. His head dips down, tenderly seeking...

It would appear that Zero's assault was largely unnecessary and -- in the end -- completely ineffective. The rampant charge of the man is enough to indicate that, as Zero watches Haggar obliterate the brick as if it were nothing. There is instant recognition in the NESTS VP's largely impassive gaze as Haggar advances with an outstretched hand. "Mike Haggar." He intones thoughtfully. That hand snakes out to grasp for Zero--
"I think not."
And the moment that his hand gets within a few inches of Zero's 'personal space,' it is stopped short. That snapping hand comes to a decided, meaty /thud/ against an odd, invisible wall; the moment of impact, the wall shimmers, undulating with violet waves of artificial chi as the forcefield protects Zero completely from harm while, at the same time, completely stopping the other man's forward momentum. And, as that barrier fades...
Zero seeks to drive a single fist forward like a piston, aiming to deliver a single bodyblow straight into Haggar's gut.

One mighty eyebrow lifts as Haggar grabs nothing but a forcefield. Now /that/ was familiar... but this makes no sense. The connection is noticed and discarded for now, and Haggar suddenly has more things to think about. Zero's punch to his brick-like abs may have have been striking a steel wall, for all the reaction Haggar shows, and his hand lashes down to Zero's fist. "So you know my name... don't know yours, though." He steps back abruptly, hoping to tug Zero off-balance and into another grab. "Heh... at least not yet."
Should Haggar have successfully seized Zero, he leaps up, whirling in the air, battering branches and monkeys away. Haggar quickly turns Zero upside down and pulls up his legs, putting like half of Zero's body between himself and the ground - he's playing for keeps. The landing will be solid, and thunderous.

Unpleasant. That would be a good way to describe what happens next. Zero is lifted into the air almost immediately after Haggar grasps him, finding himself unable to prepare himself in time. Grabbed up, Zero is launched /skywards/ in a sudden motion, soaring straight upwards before he's inverted... and crashed, straight into the ground with an impact that makes the very earth around them shudder. There is a small grimace on Zero's lips, yet his eyes show nothing as blood runs down the corner of his mouth. His name?
"... My name is of little importance."
Immediately after that vicious piledriver lands solidly, Zero pushes /off/ the ground, seeking to land away from the other man. From his feet, the very shadows themselves lace outward, strands of inky blackness shooting across the distance between himself and Haggar. His goal is simple; the shadows themselves will seize hold of Haggar's legs with tiny, dark hands of black and blue, chilling and burning at the same time. And if they should restrain the large man, Zero comes crashing in shortly after, delivering a series of sudden, brutal bodyblows against the mighty mayor of Metro City, intent on finishing it all off with a single, mighty uppercut.

That creepy-ass chi seizes onto Haggar's legs quite easily - the jungle is already kinda dark, and Haggar's eyes are used to picking out threats in an urban environment. He inhales sharply as his legs are immobilized - this is happening /exactly/ like last time. Haggar searches Zero's face in seriousness now as he pulls his arms up to absorb the brunt of the blows. His eyes dart to Zero's wrists as he does so.
The uppercut comes, and Haggar twists away from the hardest of the blows, having kept his cool through the pummeling. With a hard grunt, he continues his twist to break away from the cold/hot chi, swinging /yet more/ around to try and seize Zero's face and pitch him unceremoniously away into a tree or rock or mad-as-hell ape or whatever.

No doubt Haggar has begun to recognize that distinct sensation of chi that is so trademark to Zero. Beyond this, however, the man gives no clue as to his own identity. Instead, he remains calm and silent in the aftermath of his strike, watching with mild curiosity as the mayor manages to deflect his strikes. Unperturbed, however, Zero leaps backwards -- and just in time.
Just as he leaps, Haggar's hand swings outward in one single, mighty swing. Zero's grasping arms jut /outward/, intent on taking a firm grasp of the other man by his massive forearm. The force of the blow brings Zero backwards a single step, but he remains cold and expressionless as a stone statue. Keeping a firm grip upon the mayor, he seeks to use the others own momentum /against/ him, swinging and attempting to lift Haggar into the air to send /him/ flying unceremoniously into a nearby tree or rock.

Haggar's momentum is used, and he's swung, but he tenaciously attaches to Zero's arm and uses his legs to hook Zero's ankle. As a result, he's painfully /budged,/ but he doesn't go any-goddamn-where. "That ain't going to work on me, boy! He keeps one arm locked onto Zero's, reaching behind him.
One of Haggar's pipes comes out slowly, sliding against the fabric of the harness. The light from the sun stabs through, glinting powerfully off of it. Haggar searched for half a day to find the best pipes, of proper weight and sturdiness. Many were rejected - two were selected. Haggar's grip tightens, and the pipe does not bend or dent like most in his grasp. "Hooooowah!" Hopefully Zero will not be able to escape, as the pipe comes crashing down, intent on the NESTS VP's head.

The best of pipes... but not good enough.
Zero is prepared, the moment he feels the decided resistance against him, the attachment to his arm, the sudden hook of legs against his ankle. There is a budge, but Haggar stays resolute. He stays completely still... just as power begins to swell decidedly behind Zero's eyes. "It would appear so. But..."
The best pipes. But as that pipe descends, Zero makes a single, simple motion; he flicks his wrist /outwards/, grasping onto the edges of his expensive business coat. In one fluid movement, Zero leaps, and literally sends the /hem/ of that coat straight for the incoming pipe. It is foolishness -- for the ignorant, at least. As that coat extends outward, an invisible wave of force shimmers over it. Black coat is almost melted into something else. And in that instead, the pipe strikes--
--and is neatly sliced in half.
The offending measure of pipe is carved into by a series of sharp, metal 'teeth' lining the rim of what appears, for all intents and purposes, to be a skirt. Almost instantly afterwards, those black volumes of cloth snap backwards, falling into place with a jingle of metal to their origin; Zero, now dressed entirely in his strange battle attire. "... that will not work on me, either."
He says nothing afterwards. Instead, in an odd move, he begins to crouch /down/ into a kneeling position. Afterimages of himself proceed in his wake, an eerie sensation flooding the jungles around them. He kneels, crouched before Haggar -- and immediately afterwards, a wave of violet fire seeps forth from him, seeking out Haggar, to grasp and strike at him...

--And there it is. There is something amiss, but Zero doesn't quite notice it yet. Nor will he probably notice until it is far too late. As it is, as Haggar is suddenly overflooded with Zero's own cold, lifeless chi as the man stands slowly, as if he has all the time in the world. He turns simply, his back presented to Haggar. And as he does, a sudden, invisible wall of force EXPLODES outward from behind Zero, launching that skirt upwards through the air from the sudden expulsion of power, sending a giant wave of chi crashing right for Haggar. BUT?!!?

Haggar's pipe is completely taken out. He may have spent a long time finding it, but let's be honest, he didn't expect either to last a day. The pipe tumbles right from his hands, but Haggar's eyes are fastened on the skirt action. Recognition drives home. "Wait, I know who you are--"
Wave of chi... tearing at Haggar... must... push... on! The wrestler grits his teeth right in the face of the wave, charging through it despite how horrible it feels. His hands ball up together, and the big man turns as he approaches. "This... isn't going to work... either!" Zero stands as though he is unaware of Haggar's approach, and that may just be the answer.
The mayor of Metro realizes that he's broken through the last of it, and he sees the opening, wide as the horizon. He grins, and drops to a knee just behind Zero. He feels the next wave building, the skirt rising. Muscles tense and rush with blood as Haggar's fists rise, swinging like the bat of Babe Ruth himself. Most fighters would go for a ball-shot here, but Haggar is from a better time.

His fists rise, and impact hard right on what some would refer to as Zero's very own, precious, trouser cubby.

It isn't going to work, apparently, and that's a fact that Zero realizes soon enough as Haggar plows straight through his own attack. The amount of pain it causes the other man is readily apparent, and Zero would make note of it -- except he doesn't really have time to think much of anything. His wall of power plowed through, all he can do is tense in preparation as he feels Haggar suddenly SLAM both his fists... right into Zero's behind.
For a moment, for a rare splinter of time, Zero's eyes actually, literally snap wide in surprise. It only lasts a fractio of a second, and with how Haggar is positioned, he likely can't have the joy of seeing it as his sudden punching strike launches Zero straight into the air. Soaring upwards towards the branches of the jungle's health canopy, those cold gray eyes of the NESTS agent narrow almost instantly. He twists in mid-air as gravity begins to take hold, making a rapid descent... straight towards Haggar. As he does? Power flares around him, coating Zero in a protective sheath of artificially generated chi. Normally this is used as a barrier, a counter measure. Today, Zero uses it as a straight offensive tactic, seeking to land right on /top/ of Haggar, and send a powerful charge of violet chi arcing through the other man's body like electricity.

COMBATSYS: Zero successfully hits Haggar with Forcefield.

Zero             1/----===/=======|=======\=====--\1           Haggar

The chi causes Haggar to stagger back, wincing. This stuff he can only will through - he doesn't deal with it nearly as well as being slapped around, or thrown. But with this, Haggar now knows exactly who he's dealing with. It can't be anyone else. "Shaved... got a tan... bleached your hair. I thought we were supposed to leave looking like an idiot to the kids!" The big man's getting beat up a bit now - that didn't help much - but he doesn't plan to back down much at all. He wipes sweat from his brow - and then suddenly leaps into the air.
Mike Haggar pulls his hands up, clenching them together in the popular axehandle style. He hangs in the air for the space of half a second, impossibly, as there is a small flare of blue light from his hands - and then he just slams forward and down, like a meteor headed straight for Zero. Hit, miss, or stopped by whatever force, if there's any momentum to be distributed it goes right into the ground. Trees quake and animals scream as a crater is pounded into the earth. Customarily there is a "HOOOOWAAAAAAH!" as Haggar does this, but, mustn't call attention to oneself.

Zero             1/---====/=======|====---\-------\0           Haggar

"Is that what you believe this is? ... You understand so little, Mr. Haggar."
Zero lands smoothly upon his descent, electrical lances of violet chi coursing across his arms and legs. His eyes glow with a tinge of royal purple, a prelude of what is soon to come. Still, though, he is silent as Haggar leaps upward. Calmly, his gray eyes track the rise and fall of the massive mayor of Metro City, his white brows creasing with thought. His battlesuit reads information directly into his brain from various sources, judging and analyzing the incoming strike. His course of action is clear; as Haggar descends with that mighty axe blow...
... Zero lifts a single hand to meet the strike.
The resultant crash between Haggar's mighty axe strike and Zero's outstretched palm is mighty; the momentum is transferred, all that force poured into and through Zero's body with such power that the ground beneath him literally sinks downward, rocks shooting upward into the air as the titanic blow create a miniature crater with the upright Zero at its epicentre. The force shakes along his arm, and yet still, the NESTS VP holds still, his expression the perfect example of unbelievable calm. "We are done here."
With one motion, Zero seeks to simply push Haggar right through the air once more for a short distance, to toss him /awa./ As Haggar goes flying, though, he may notice one strange thing; the air surrounding them, the heat and the humidity, is suddenly sucked out from all around him, almost as if it was being drained out of the very jungle itself. Heat is swiftly replaced with chilling cold in the midst of the jungle, as if all life has simply been drained from all around them.
If the mayor looks towards Zero, he'll see the reason why: a single white spark of chi being nursed in the tall man's grasp. Diminutive at best, almost pathetic-looking at worst, the spark looks as if it could hardly be much of anything spectacular... except for the chilling, otherwordly feel it exudes. With a single motion, Zero's hand lifts upwards.
In that very second, the spark explodes in one single, brilliant display. The white shard of chi becomes a massive, swirling vortex of black wreathed in a silver corona of power, violet electricity crackling from the center of the seeming black hole. Within seconds, from all around them, a series of black spheres churning with white-blue power within their depths appear, hovering in mid-air, unmoving. Not even a second after they appear, though, those spheres begin to rotate /forward/, blazing a path towards the massive vortex Zero holds in his hand. Those spheres all seem to home in on Haggar as they go, seeking to bash him over and over with cold, almost otherwordly power, leading into an almost innumerable amount of chilling strikes as those spheres all fling themselves towards Zero's waiting grasp.

"Don't see that there's too much to understand!" Haggar responds as he comes hurtling down. And then... impact. Haggar can't keep the surprise from his normally stoic face as Zero just /stops/ him. Between Zero and Takuma, he really has to figure out how to just halt things like that. He twists in the air as he's thrown backward to face Zero, frowning. His body smashes aside a flung rock, and he does not seem to notice, far too distracted by the jungle's environment suddenly... ending. Sweat on his body from the heat starts to frost immediately, foggy condensation rising from his body. And finally, the spheres come. The Mayor roars in pain as he battered, frozen and burned all at once, flung like a ragdoll before Zero's flashy power before being slammed to the ground and discarded.
Mike Haggar remains unmoving for some time, one arm outstretched, the rest of his body curled and shivering. The tremors of his muscles slow, and stop. The hand suddenly clenches, dragging up a handful of humid dirt. Slowly, not bleeding but beaten, Haggar returns to his feet. He falters once...

And then rushes across the entire space he's been beaten, other hand driving for Zero's head. A red haze burns around him.

Zero turns on his heel in the aftermath of his attack, presenting his back to Haggar as the man is launched straight into the ground. Heat once more seeps back into the jungle as the portal crackles out of existence. Zero's act, turning his back to Haggar, is not one made out of cruel arrogance; instead, he walks off under the distinct impression, the /knowledge/ that the fight is over. Haggar doesn't seem inclined to agree. Zero continues his walk as the other man pushes himself up onto his feet, only coming to a pause as he feels the steady footfalls of the rapidly approaching giant. His eyes close. His lips pull into a tight frown.
"Perhaps you did not hear me."
And then Haggar swings. Yet, once more, before his hand actually touches Zero... it smacks straight into an invisible wall of force. Purple chi ripples outward like a stone disturbing the calm surface of a lake.
"We are done."
And in that single instant, Zero channels /all/ that artificially produced chi straight into Haggar's body, assaulting him with monstrous, electrifying power with intent to launch him straight into the air and far away. "Should you survive this ordeal," Zero notes as he begins to walk once more, the shield of chi surrounding him disintigrating into nothing, "Do not attempt to interfere with our plans. If you do, rest assured..." Zero's hands slip down as his battlesuit melts away into his elegant business attire once more, sliding his fingers into his coat pockets.
"...you will be killed."

COMBATSYS: Zero has ended the fight here.

Haggar's already drifting when the set-up for the Giant Swing is stopped. Blackness swims at the edge of his vision, threatening to overtake him. He grits his teeth, trying to pull that familiar surge of adrenaline that has seen him through so much... it doesn't come. "Not done... not yet..."

That's all Haggar can get out before the burst of chi hurls him away, tearing through leaves and branches and a panther in one particularly unfortunate moment. He's unconcious before he even hits the ground, some distance away, in a small pond.
