Match of the Millennium

Description: While they are no Killasaurus Orphanage, the band known as Aerosmith still manages to draw out of a crowd. But not a whole crowd, and that's where SNFs will step in to fill out the rest. Makoto Nanaya will find herself facing down the glamorous Darkstalker known only as Velvet Blue. While Makoto has her own aliases to maintain, Velvet Blue only lives for good-natured entertainment, and the thrill of the fight. Can Makoto demonstrate pure Squirrel power? Or will she save the last dance for the mysterious Velvet Blue?

When AEROSMITH of all people needs help drawing a crowd, there's no way someone like Velvet can let them down--indeed--the Velvet Blue. If it were just to help out some rock legends, Velvet would have done it for free--but since there are cameras with a big crowd involved, there was no way they could refuse!

"Stand back boys, I'll open for you, don't worry--it'll be fabulous~" Velvet Blue appears on the stage, wearing what looks like a form-fitting dark undersuit--sort of like a unitard, with a stripe up the side--and a pair of long boots. Under the lights, the Darkstalker's non-human attributes--those ears and the tail would probably fade in and out--perfectly visible to those who were also darkstalkers, or had powers.

"Now I just need a dance partner, where are you, my dear?~" he brandishes a rose.

Sometimes you just need to fight someone.

Makoto may be having some personal conflicts, but there's one thing she knows makes her feel better, and that's getting in a good old-fashioned fight. So she went to SNF, and, well, that was that.

Which means she's been sent to... well, the Rock Show. It's not a place she would find herself on a regular basis, but she doesn't mind going once in a while, and she's kind of curious about her opponent. Some glamorous Darkstalker? That's the kind of thing she might investigate even if she /hadn't/ been sent there.

But until Velvet Blue brandishes a rose, there is no sign of her.

Only then does she vault up onto the stage, having been right up next to it (and thus hard to see from all the lights). She makes a great leap upward, flipping once before landing on her feet, a big grin on her face. "Ta-daa," Makoto says, loud enough that the mics can pick it up. "Makoto Nanaya, on stage! - I've always wanted to say that one..."

"Hey there--squirrel detected!" Velvet is quick to take the adjacent side of the stage from Makoto Nanaya, wanting to give them a proper introduction and also to get into proper position for the start of the fight.

"She's a very spry one, as we can see," Velvet likely has a mic clipped to the collar of their bodysuit, wireless and all that--and can speak directly to the crowd--likely so can Nanaya. Unless the big floofy tail caused too much static, or something!

"Lets give 'er a hand! and hope she can walk after my performance," Velvet put a hand to their front, closing their eyes with a grin. The phrase is of course loaded with double meaning.

"And we're off!" with a quick bow, the half-darkstalker spreads his arms wide and a medly of prismatic chi projectiles were shot out towards Makoto, shaped like... glowing hearts? Oh boy.

Makoto does indeed have a microphone clipped onto her collar. It has to serve some purpose, after all. The tail is fluffy but not staticky.

"I think I'm a little more resilient than you think," Makoto calls back to Velvet, looking the other Darkstalker up and down a little thoughtfully. Hmm... "But I suppose we'll see how good you /really/ are pretty soon!"

Apparently sooner than she thought, because there's hearts flying at her. Makoto brings her arms up, catching them on the weighted bars that she uses to increase her punching power and causing a small detonation of chi that rocks her backwards a step. Not enough to stop her from immediately running at Velvet Blue, though!

Makoto just barrels at Velvet Blue for most of the distance before turning it into a running punch, aimed directly at his torso. And Makoto punches /hard/ - she certainly isn't pulling her punches to make it a longer show, instead using a straight punch that might launch him right across the rest of the stage if she gets a real solid hit.

"I'm super good, lady!" Velvet grins and pulls his arm back after unleashing the flurry of... no doubt quite menacing and dangerous chi-based projectiles. Yeeeah. Lets go with that--and brings his arms up as the squirrel begins closing the distance and tries to land a punch! Velvet isn't playing too rough yet--though it seems like he has some trouble fending off the punch--bringing up one of his arms and wincing as the punch impacts hard against flesh and bone.

"Ow, ow ow--hey careful there, you got pretty good upper body strength--well you are a squirrel..." he recovers and pops back from the Squirrel girl to get a bit of distance, before trying to bring one of those long boots up and around for a hard kick to their side!

"It's all working out," Makoto calls back. She'd flex if she thought she had time for it, but mid-battle is a very bad time to stop and show off. (Instead you should show off while fighting. That's the better strategy here.) "I don't know what being a squirrel has to do with upper body strength..."

"...but it's not just my arms that are strong!"

Makoto realizes slightly too late that there is a boot coming for her side, and she's just put her own foot down. All she can do is pivot with the blow to her hip to try to absorb the worst of it, letting her tail brush Velvet's leg as she hops to the side, reaching out to grab Velvet Blue!

If she grabs, she doesn't immediately throw or move to a full-on grapple but instead twists her body, smacking him repeatedly with that tail of hers. It's a lot like getting hit by a pillow full of down; the fur is soft but it has mass and getting bludgeoned by it is a good way to get disoriented and a little turned around.

"It's just a jump to the left--and a step to the right!" Velvet winces at the impact of his booted leg and foot against Makoto's side, before pulling his leg hurriedly back and ducking down and back lest the squirrel retaliate right afterward. It was then the performer can feel the overwhelming fluff and fuzz of Makoto's tail brush against his leg--looking down just in time to see it... try to curl around him?! There was a momentary rush of fear as Velvet imagined themselves being pulled /into/ the tail, like it was an orange fuzzy black hole, or something--his boots disappearing into it last with a schlorp! He felt a momentary shiver as he amazed the crowd by doing an impressive back flip out of the tail's grasp!

"Oof--you should be careful with those things, hon, they could hurt someone! Speaking of--" he landed on his hands and then rolled back onto his legs, getting back to his feet and drawing what looked like a curved short-sword from their boot--where it had been sheathed, apparently.

"Lets give that thing a trim!" he swiped at the side of Makoto--before attempting to duck in and toss her off her feet! Rough.

Makoto Nanaya is perfectly all right with using her tail as a bludgeon. Maybe it's not the most graceful technique, but... hey, if it works, it works. This time it doesn't work, and Makoto gives it up quickly, breaking the grab with a shove to ensure that Velvet gets away from her when he flips away.

"Hey, whoa! No trimming the tail!" Makoto jerks her tail out of the way with a pivot of her hips, then clears out entirely when she sees the sword coming for her flank; she ends up circling halfway around Velvet Blue to ensure that he doesn't catch her with a wild swing from that blade.

Makoto has nothing against weapon-users. She uses a pair of weights, after all, and she expects to maybe get hurt in these fights, though she's fairly certain he won't be trying to kill her. But she is sensitive about her tail. Nobody cuts that!

In her new position - facing outward, toward the audience, having circled halfway around Velvet Blue - Makoto grins. And then plants her feet, drawing one fist back and holding the other hand out in front of her in a guarding stance. "Why don't I give you a little demonstration of how hard I can really go?" she asks, focusing her chi through her weights and into her fist.

Makoto is able to deftly avoid the impassioned strikes from Velvet's blade--dancing away before resheathing the weapon into their boot.

"Jeez, calm down babe--and here I thought you'd be up for a hair-styling session!" Velvet brushes hair out of their eyes just as Makoto begins to plant their feet and charge up their next attack. Ruh roh.

"Hey come on now honey, don't get cute--" Velvet grins a bit sheepishly, looking around quickly to see what he could do or where to go--there was towards the band at the back of the stage--or off the stage into the crowd. He realized he couldn't move either place or risk putting them in the line of fire--so instead he charged at Makoto--landing and instending to blast her with the chi energy that he erupted from the stage floor as he landed!

Makoto is pretty sure she's in a good position to deck Velvet Blue when he approaches. She just wants to send him flying; is that so bad? Although the way she's angled it would mean she's throwing him into the audience, it at least makes her look cool...

But as it turns out her position might not have been so great after all.

Velvet Blue charges her faster than she expected, given the chi eruption boost, and Makoto takes the impact head-on (fortunately not literally, she's using her head). She manages to hold her position, but she lets out a grunt from the force of the impact against her body, threatening to tip backwards... but she pulls out of it. And she's still got a perfectly good punch to use.

"Nice one! But I'll show you one better! SMA~ASH!"

Makoto takes a step forward as Velvet starts to reposition and delivers a single straight punch. One punch is all she needs; there's so much force built up in her arm and her punching weight that it strikes with the force of a wrecking ball, aiming to send Velvet flying along the length of the stage. He managed to turn so he's not going to get thrown off it into the audience, at least...

Velvet comes down with an explosive entrance--watching the squirrel lady get knocked back--only for her to rear back and be massively straight punched with amazing force! The flamboyant darkstalker tumbles backward--even Aerosmith in the background has to pause for a moment with a resounding "Ooouch' from all of the members. Right now Velvet themselves are learning to 'Walk this way', however it's rather more of a stumble as they pull themselves up from that. Looks like it's 'Walk this way' (with a concussion)!

"I'm tellin' ya--I got her right where I want her..." Velvet pulls themselves back up, staggering around like a drunkard, attempting to toddle back over to Makoto and deliver them a haymaker, the right side of their face a large bruise and looking like they were seeing stars!

Makoto's philosophy is that you should float like a butterfly and sting like a Stinger missile. ...She never did think the phrasing through ahead of time.

"You know, we can stop anytime." Makoto is a little worried for Velvet Blue. Sure, it was her fault he's staggering around like that, but she doesn't want to actually hurt him too badly. "If you want to call it we can just skip out and - "

Oh that's a haymaker.

Makoto attempts to block the strike, but what she thought was random flailing was a lot more effective than it first seemed; Velvet smacks her upside the head and Makoto staggers, guard dropping for several significant instants before she manages to pull it back up. "Guh... Oooor we can keep going until one of us is really out!"

Despite that, Makoto's response is restrained, because she's a little dazed from that strike too. She kicks low, trying to trip up Velvet Blue and give her enough time to get a step or two back so she can wind up for something bigger. She may be an infighter, but a lot of her tricks work best with some run-up room to start.

Realizing they just smacked the squirrel lady, Velvet begins to come out of their daze--however in their dazed state they see the leg coming out for them just a bit too slow--and the force of it is enough to not only trip the half-stalker up, but actually pushes their feet right out from under them--causing them to fall forward in an embarrassing flip!

"Ow-jeez!" they manage before eating floor, pulling themselves up with their arms, bleary eyed.

"I went to Yale! I don't deserve this!" he croaks in what sounds like a depressingly whiny, imploring voice--choked up, even! Getting back to their feet, they shake, seemingly trembling with the rush of chi energy they were practically erupting with--I know, be still my heart!

Velvet Blue's yellow eyes flashed, and suddenly, they disappeared--only for those same eyes to reappear behind Makoto a few moments later, the eyes and teeth the only thing visible, in fact.

"I'm hurt pretty bad, lets give this one a great finish!" before becoming uncloaked, again--and trying to grab Makoto's shoulders and send her sailing into the far stage floor!

"I don't know what Yale has to do with anything. I didn't even go to university, anyway!" No, Makoto went to a military academy... which wasn't quite the same, but she doesn't feel like bringing it up. Her position in NOL isn't exactly well known and she prefers to keep it that way.

Makoto takes a step forward to prepare her follow-up attack just as Velvet Blue vanishes. "Hey!" Makoto looks around, trying to spot him and failing. Her tail lashes side to side in irritation. "Don't run away if you say you're going to give it a great finish. Come back and fight like you mean it!"

She doesn't see Velvet Blue reappearing behind her. But she feels him - when her sweeping tail brushes against him as he uncloaks. Makoto twists, moving in a sudden surge of speed, and raises her arms up in front of her face as she does in a modified boxer's stance.

Velvet manages to grab her by the arm, not the shoulder, and though it's hard for her to break free, she turns the throw into an awkward hop and a painfully twisted arm. "Oh, I'll show you! I don't like tricks and teleporting! Let's have a good old-fashioned straight up BRAWL!"

Makoto punctuates 'brawl' with an upward punch aimed at Velvet Blue's torso to literally launch him into the air. If she manages it, she leaps up after him, flipping forward, and then drives a fist downward - but it's not her fist that swings at him, as she's created a gigantic gauntlet made out of chi to smash him to the ground beneath her! "COMING AT YA!"

"Acting school, darnit--well, I guess you /are/ a squirrel, nutty upstairs, are we?!" Velvet regains enough of his wits after realizing that Makoto's tail brushed against him as he tried to stealth in--right before she right crosses him and air hikes him off the floor.

"Gah!" is the only sort of noise he can manage, his boots leaving the floor pretty cleanly as the blow picks him right up. Once the giant gauntlet of chi energy comes down--he's flattened against the floor, actually, nearly squashed flat in the Darkstalker-ey terms of phyiscs--but it's clear once the hands, feet and tail of the half-stalker emerge from beneath the fist that he's probably okay. Probably.

Picking themselves off the ground--they stagger--before releasing... a dazzling stream of bright blue and white swirling chi energy from their eyes--before faceplanting again.

The crowd and the band both cheer as the huge twin surge of eye beams race toward the squirrel girl, sending up sparks as they sear across the floor toward her!

Makoto isn't always the sharpest tool in the drawer; she's very aware most of her friends are more clever than she is. That doesn't mean she's going to stand for insults from her opponent, though. "Hey! There's nothing wrong with my head!" she huffs.

The fist vanishes after delivering its mighty blow, and Makoto touches down near where it was. "Maybe that'll teach you not to - oh crap - "

The number of times Makoto has fought someone with eye lasers is zero. She has almost no idea what to do in this situation, so she makes the best of a bad situation; she hunkers down, trying to present a smaller target for Velvet Blue and absorb at least some of the incoming chi.

The beams pick Makoto up and toss her about ten feet to land in a messy pile, face down on the ground with her tail sticking up. It looks, for a moment, like it's going to be a double knockout - but with a groan, Makoto pushes herself up to her knees, and with another lurch up to her feet, giving a big thumbs-up to the crowd.

It would be more impressive if her tail wasn't frizzed out quite so much and if she didn't look like she was swaying and about to fall right back over. But she's up! Technically!
