SNF 2018.05 - SNF: Cold War - Sergei vs Zach Glenn (Marines)

[Toggle Names]

Description: When the Berlin Wall fell, it was tough times for the Russian Army. And when the government went with it, it just wasn't the same between the United States and Russia. But not everything changes. Sergei, the Russian Special Forces man, is ordered to face off against the Ex-marine Zach Glenn, to revisit the old question: Who is stronger? America or Russia? It's Spetsnaz vs the Marines, as the duo comes crashing down in fierce combat.

[SERGEI]
The foundry's machinery was quiet. Production was stopped. Rather than being shutdown, the foundry was letting it's employees have an extended lunch break. They were playing host to a SNF, and the workers were taking the opportunity to enjoy it. Fighting on an elevated metal grate (one the workers assembled for the occasion) for a ring, and crates for bleachers, it was clearly a time for the Russians to relax. With one exception. One machine was active, but still silent. The one Russian who had work to do.

Sergei Dragunov, the White Angel of Death.

He was in uniform, wore a cold expression on his face. He walked sharply towards the arena, boots echoing as the Russians went silent with anticipation. When he pulls himself onto the grate, the crowd cheers for him.

General Zima sat in the overseer's office drinking wine with several of his old friends who ran the business. The venue had been selected thanks to a few old favors from some old chums. The men laughed at each others jokes as the crowd below chanted Dragunov's name.

[ZACH GLENN]
Cronyism is apparently something of an international phenomenon.

Zach Glenn was... not exactly thrilled by the choice of venue. Or the opponent. There was... an urge for Zach to step beyond the boundaries of a Saturday Night Fight. He owed Sergei Dragunov for his conduct during Mortal Kombat. He owed Segei something like murderous mayhem.

Though one might have a hard time telling that looking at the psion. Zach had trained, at an early age, to keep emotions in check and out of his bearing when it suited him. The former Marine was wearing black fatigue pants, tucked into combat boots, and an olive drab t-shirt that bore the USMC logo in red over his left breast. Noone was chanting his name when he stepped into the makeshift arena.

Zach wondered idly if this was how Rocky felt when he was about to fight Ivan Drago, before reminding himself that he was not a character in a movie. He nods once to the referee, signalling his readiness before sliding into a fairly balanced stance that does not give much away about his fighting style.

[SERGEI]
Sergei was calm, in contrast to the uproar of the crowd. While he was fighting a former Marine, one that could withstand the full force of combat, he had no quarrel or vex with him. While he was slightly tense at having to fight a psychic due to his history, he was professional about it. Zima thought this was what Sergei needed, since his last psychic experience ended with his own gun at his temple.

But thankfully Zach Glenn had no involvement with that at all whatsoever. As far as Sergei knew, Zach could have been the man to aid another soldier in such a situation.

With his opponent at the ready Sergei hunched over into his combat sambo stance. He stood at the ready, and eyed his opponent. The crowd chanted, waiting for the first strike. Sergei delivered with a firm stab of his boot heel to Zach's knee, to the delight of a wave of Russians.

COMBATSYS: Zach Glenn just-defends Sergei's Light Kick!

[ZACH GLENN]
To be fair, Sergei may find fighting Zach to be a very different kind of fight. The Dahlia is a master manipulator, using not only her skills but also her own psychic talents to get people to do as she wishes.

Sergei is about to learn that fighting Zach is more like fighting a truck full of tazers; all blunt force and damage to the nervous system.

Sergei's kick comes in fast, and Zach pivots to let the kick avoid the knee. Zach slides what was his back leg forward as he does so, further knocking the kick off course. Zach uses the pivot to line up a straight punch at Sergei's jaw, even as a gauntlet composed of golden energy wraps around the striking fist!

COMBATSYS: Zach Glenn successfully hits Sergei with Quick Strike.
Glancing Blow

[SERGEI]
The match was moving at lightning speed, and Zach's strike matched it. Sergei tried to move out of the punch, but it glanced his shoulder and his skin felt like fire. The close quarters of the fight was getting the crowd excited, and Zima was looking forward to a happy crowd, a crowd with "higher morale, attitude, and job satisfaction." as it was put.

The Spetsnaz went for a quick chop to the Marine's rib cage, on he would follow with a body blow, then finish with an uppercut. It would give the workers the pay off of the melee, and give the professional more space.

COMBATSYS: Zach Glenn blocks Sergei's Death's Door.

[ZACH GLENN]
More of that odd energy surrounds Zach's arms as he parries the chop, before slipping into a classic peek-a-boo guard to stop the body blow and the uppercut. The crowd is probably enjoying the brawl, but maybe not the fact that Sergei is not utterly destroying this American.

Zach stays in close, before bringing his right arm back and around in a crushing hook aimed roughly at the Russian's collarbone. The energy is still there and takes a more distinct shape, like that of an armored guantlet as it closes in!

COMBATSYS: Sergei auto-guards Zach Glenn's Heavy Swing.

[SERGEI]
The longer the two throw blows so close so quick, the more excited the crowd was getting. When Zach thrusts another glowing fist, Dragunov smacks it to the side.

Before the crowd can even have a chance to cheer, Sergei was on the attack. While his left hand stopped the blow, his right went for Zach's neck. He would force the Marine to collide with the metal grate, face first. Landing it would give the crowd a small Russian victory, enough to give the Spetsnaz space.

[ZACH GLENN]
Zach's left hand was still in for defense, and he uses it to block the grasping hand before shoving it away. Sergei seems to be trying to get some space, which amuses the analytical part of Zach's brain for a moment.

But for now, the psion stays in close. He dives in for a two-legged takedown, the idea being to get Sergei on his back before getting a good mount to deliver more of those energy-clad fists!

COMBATSYS: Sergei dodges Zach Glenn's Rough and Tumble.

[SERGEI]
The Russian lets Zach begin his take down. Then he lets it go right past him when he steps to the side. Zach stumbling past Sergei yielded some bits of laughter from the foundry. The fight just had the high octane opening, but now was Sergei time to return to his calm professional state. With his foe on the floor, he patrolled around him. His boots shook the metal, and let the audience catch their breath, and their anticipation rise.

Dragunov simply waited, looking to see how Zach, will act.

COMBATSYS: Sergei focuses on his next action.

[ZACH GLENN]
Zach doesn't actually faceplant. He throws a hand out and turns the stumble into three pointed stance to save his balance long enough to throw himself into a quick roll. Regaining his feet, he waits for a moment. Sergei opts not to press any advantage.

The psion considers this for a moment, realizing that Sergei is gaging movements and reactions. Zach drops his hands to his hips, opening them slightly to grasp a pair of shimmering discs of energy. The twin discs are hurled at the Russian with an almost negligent gesture before Zach retakes his fighing stance. For all of that, however, they take off at alarming speed!

Sergei might learn why allowing Zach distance is not the best option: he has yet to actually *try* such a thing, but he's willing to bet that he could do this just about all day.

COMBATSYS: Zach Glenn successfully hits Sergei with Quick Shot.

[SERGEI]
When Sergei saw Zach make a move, he approached closer. Rather can making Zach come to him, he shot out his tron like disks. He tries duck under them but they strike him square in the spine, making his whole nervous system flare in pain.

In the same motion that brings his torso back up, Sergei raised his leg. He would bring it back down on Zach's shoulder, flipping and twisting him down to the metal. Grabbing hold of Zach's leg, he would drive his heels to the Marine's hips, and twist it beyond where a joint should be twisted.

COMBATSYS: Sergei successfully hits Zach Glenn with Mantis Heel.

[ZACH GLENN]
Zach does not make any move to avoid the grapple. Part of him wants to get a measure of the Spetsnaz man. That means taking some hits. Or holds for that matter. Zach relaxes slightly as he goes to the floor, a faint shimmer of psychic force ripppling across his body at the various points of contact.

Sergei, on the other hand, gets to learn one of the benefits of dating an acrobat as Zach proves to be... surprisingly flexible in the joints. The psion provides just enough force to break the hold before rolling to one side to regain his stance. He pumps the leg a bit to test its motion, regarding Sergei carefully. All right, he decides. Maybe it's up to up the tempo a bit.

Zach takes a couple of steps towards Sergei before leaping to drive a classic Superman punch right at the center of the Russian's chest. More of that energy collects around Zach's fist as it screams towards its target!

COMBATSYS: Sergei counters Crushing Strike from Zach Glenn with Red Alert.

[SERGEI]
When Dragunov got the grapple in on Zach, the crowd cheered. When Zach struggles out the grip, the grate was gaining a slight bounce. When Glenn got back to a stand, the Russian was halfway up himself. The blow Zach was about to deliver was quite familiar and predicable. Sergei grabbed the arm in his gloved hands, stopping it flat. He forced the arm back, twisting the joint and spending out needles of pain. Driving it until he forced Zach to his knees, he released him.

Coming to a stand, the crowd was chanting. The men watching above laughed as they had to double fist two glasses of vintage wine, as per rules of their game.

[ZACH GLENN]
Zach lets out a grunt of pain, and drops to his knees exactly as planned. However, Zach is back on his feet quickly enough, rolling the shoulder easily. It's almost as if the damage is being felt, but not slowing him down quite the way that it should.

Zach bounces on the balls of his feet, getting a better feel for how the grating flexes and pushes. His stance reveals some of his styles roots in boxing for a split second before Zach launches in, driving a psionically mailed fist right at the tip of Sergei's chin!

COMBATSYS: Sergei auto-guards Zach Glenn's Power Strike.

[SERGEI]
The uppercut was spotted, and was stopped with a swift chop. In the same opening, Sergei put his right arm towards Zach's right shoulder, while he would put his leg behind Zach's knee's breaking his stance. With his left arm, he would drive the Marine down into the metal.

COMBATSYS: Zach Glenn blocks Sergei's Strong Throw.

[ZACH GLENN]
Zach pivots, dulling the impacts of each of Sergei's move. They still hurt, but they don't destabilize the psion enough to throw him down. Zach spins, and gets a little distance from Sergei.

But he makes no offensive move. He watches. He waits. He opens his senses, and focuses on this moment as if it is the only moment he has.

COMBATSYS: Zach Glenn enters a trance-like state.

Sergei watched as his foe appeared to disengage and expanded his senses. The foundry was near deafening, just with cheers over machines. Rather than give the man a chance of breath, the Spetsnaz went to grab Zach by the throat.

COMBATSYS: Sergei successfully hits Zach Glenn with Rapid Grapple.

[ZACH GLENN]
Sergei closes the gap too quickly for Zach to avoid, and finds himself gasping for air for a second.

Zach's response is fairly straight forward. He reaches for the larger man with an open hand of his own. However, the reach is simply not there; the Russian's taller than he is.

The growing construct of psychic energy that is shaped like his hand, though? That might do it, taking the Russian in a crushing grip!

COMBATSYS: Sergei endures Zach Glenn's Shining Finger!

[SERGEI]
Sergei held the American by the throat, spending the viewers wild. The camera's zoomed in on the image of the strong Russian Solider holding an American Marine in his grip. While General Zima acquired possible propaganda material for a hypothetical possibility, he and his friends downed their wine again. One of Zima's compatriots sporting a toupee shouted down to the fighters below.

"Grab em right by the gorlo!"

The moment of glory was quickly interrupted by Zach forcing his psychic hand to grab Sergei. He let's it grab him, while he feels the burning pain, he finds an opening. Using the momentum of Zach's grip and the imbalance, he lunges forwards. If he manages to get Zach back on the grate, he would turn him down face first and hold his lower body with his legs. Then grab his head by the loop of his arm, and smash his skull into the metal.

COMBATSYS: Zach Glenn blocks Sergei's Frost Bite.

[ZACH GLENN]
Zach twists, controlling the construct to flow with Sergei's lunge. He digs in his heels, but muscles and joints are starting to protest at the constant abuse Sergei is providing during the fight. None of Sergei's strikes have been individually powerful, but there have been a lot of them.

Zach isn't done yet, however. He stays standing, redirecting the momentum to put himself into a pillar instead of a floor. Then something happens. A pair of armored hands. And they are joined by two more pairs. Then four, then eight. Soon there are too many to easily count. Zima wanted Sergei to be exposed to psychic phenomenon? Zach is willing to oblige, he supposes.

He reaches out, and the first pair of gauntlets latch onto waiting hands. Zach throws a pair of alternating haymakers, the gauntlets hopefully connecting with explosive force. Zach is not done there, laying into Sergei with a series of rapid-fire strikes, each pair of gauntlets clamping on as the previous pair are expended. The psychic force is sufficient to not allow Zach's fists to even touch Sergei, the guantlets providing all of the impact and damage.

COMBATSYS: Sergei dodges Zach Glenn's #Claiomh Solias+#.

[SERGEI]
When Sergei sees the golden fists form, he looks for a way out. But all around him are more fists. Dragunov was trapped, with nowhere to go. When the fist punch came, time seemed to slow. Sergei ducked down out of the haymaker's swing, his brain running at such a speed everything seemed to be in slow motion. He weaved out of the path of the second one, nearly gazing it. There he got his way out.

Sergei dove in-between Zach Glenn's legs, rolling to a stand while the fists exploded behind him. An audible gasp was heard from the crowd. The upper office turned silent for a moment, sans the sound of a bottle breaking. Spinning right around from behind, Sergei aimed a fist for the back of Zach's neck.

COMBATSYS: Sergei successfully hits Zach Glenn with Fierce Punch.

[ZACH GLENN]
Zach takes the hit cleanly, anger surging through him as things start to click in the back of his mind. This whole thing was a set-up. He was put here to either improve Sergei's abilities or be made into a propaganda tool. He won't *have* it. He staggers forward a couple of steps, and a surge of gold and violet light washes up across his body.

And with that, something has changed. Zach's stance is a little looser as he turns around perhaps a bit more quickly than Sergei had become used to from the psion. In the blink of an eye, Zach is back up in Dragunov's personal space, and launching a three-quarters uppercut augmented by *still more* of that golden energy at his command. The force will be, well, explosive kind of covers it. Kind of.

COMBATSYS: Zach Glenn successfully hits Sergei with Explosive Strike.

Sergei's punch lands, winning the hearts of his country men and showing the might of Russia. However, the surge of admiration is followed by a surge of anger. Zach uppercuts the Russian with a golden strike. The blow hits him like a flash bang, and his sight gains blur for an instant.

While his fellows stumble for a new bottle, Zima looks out the window, right into Sergei's eyes. Holding the same vintage that is being sought, the General snaps off the cork with a twist, telling his solider what is to be done.

Sergei's see's his instruction and snaps back to the attack. Leaping up, he attacks from Zach's flank. He reaches to grab Zach by the shoulder and hoist himself up. Reaching him, he would place the American's head between his thighs, and give a quick twist.

COMBATSYS: Zach Glenn interrupts Absolute Silence from Sergei with Soaring Dragon EX.

[ZACH GLENN]
Maybe it's a psychic intuition. Maybe, in his heightened awareness of everything around him, Zach read the move just in time. Maybe Zach was just that little bit faster than Sergei was. Zach whirls with the grab, and as the White Angel of Death starts his ascent, Zach brings a lowered fist around.

Psychic energy crackles around his hand as Zach launches a massive uppercut, slamming into Sergei and carrying both men skyward. Zach lands on his feet, but not lightly, dropping into a crouch as the fight continues to take its toll on him. He turns to watch Sergei, to see if the man rises once more.

Hopefully that did the trick, though; Zach's running out of steam finally.

[SERGEI]
The finisher was prevented, and instead the two took to the air. When Sergei crashed down on the metal, his face began to bleed. His senses were numb, the only thing he could greatly feel was the flow from the gashes. He knew standing was out of the question, but when his opponent turned, he saw an opening.

Like a wild beast, the Spetsnaz lunged for Zach. He would pin down the American and keep him down. He would beat his skull down into the grate with no mercy. The punches would continue, till Sergei faded into the silence.

COMBATSYS: Sergei can no longer fight.

Zach's eyes go wide as Sergei goes, well, feral on him. The psion had expected Sergei to stay down; the Spetsnaz man was cool and analytical not only in the time they had crossed paths but also during the fight. He can't turn to face the man in time, nor leap away.

So instead of propaganda, the audience is treated to a message on mutually assured destruction. Zach's blood joins Sergei's on the grating, and neither man rises. The referee comes out and signals the end of the match, and medical crews rush out to retrieve both men.

COMBATSYS: Zach Glenn takes no action.
