SNF 2018.05 - SNF: War Of The Roses- Andy vs Rashido

[Toggle Names]

Description: Andy has barely has enough time to make ends meet with Mai, in a manner of speaking, before the Saturday Night Fights whisk him away across the country, with hardly the time for a premature Mothers Day celebration with his fellow ninja! There, he is greeted by the largest wreath of roses in the old world; a dynamic display at the Al Mazmar Beach Park in Dubai. And to capstone the celebration is world-famous fighter Rashid, back from the crusades. Facing down Andy, the pair will battle around the floral arrangement. Rashid needs to be careful however, because every rose has its thorns. (Winner: Rashid)

[ANDY]
Dubai. What can be said about Dubai? Even for a well traveled sort like Andy Bogard, this beacon of glistening glass and steel in the middle of the desert is a stunning sight to behold. There is more wealth packed into every inch of this city than nearly anywhere else on earth, and it shows. Streets lined with supercars. Gold everywhere. Water. Beautiful people. It is beautiful, but it reeks of excess and indulgance. Andy, being a man possessed more of humble nature and honor, finds himself on the fence regarding his feelings on it.

But, here he is. Fresh from an outing to the beach with the always lovely Mai Shiranui, to another beach. White sands, palm trees, and strikingly blue water. It certainly is a beautful sight. Only made more striking for the literal red carpet laid out for the fighters to perform, in front of this giant wreath of roses. He's a bit lost on that one. Apparently it's a mother's day thing. Andy never really knew what it was like to have a mother. As such, he never really understood the nuances of the holiday.

The Human Weapon, though, isn't here for the trappings of the fight. Let the SNF crews run whatever gimmicks they want. At the end of the day, Andy Bogard is here to test himself. Nothing else matters. Not fame, nor fortune. Not glory, or even honor. No. The only reason for his participation is to push his boundaries, fight his hardest, and learn and grow. He has ambitions for his future, and for them to come to fruition, he needs to prove something. To himself. To his brother. To the world.

Currently, the stoic blonde fighter is reflecting on those very ambitions, wrapped up in memories shared on another beach far away from here. His long, flaxen hair is swept back into a ponytail at the nape of his neck. His traditional costume has been replaced with white linen, though the styling of a tunic and baggy pants, with tabi boots remains the same. He has to dress for the weather, and this place is hot. SNF seems to like to send him to hot places, these days...

[RASHID]
Dubai is a bit of a homecoming for Rashid after his stint of helping out the Sacred Order. Having two near death experiences was enough for the young Arab and he needed time to rest and recouperate. Getting himself killed wasn't going to help his missing friend. That and Azam was insistent that Rashid rest up.

What Azam didn't know was Rashid signing up for SNF and he managed to elude his butler/bodyguard to get to the beach where he has been having some fun with the locals. "We will have to do volleyball later! I have a fight to take care of." he calls out to a group and gives a wave as he hops away then turns about.

The warm weather combined with local sees Rashid wearing just a tanktop and shorts along with a bandana to keep his hair from his face. He isn't too far from the fight in question as he bounds forward and quickly hurries his way before he is late.

He gives a hop upwards and forwards as wind kicks up and he makes a more flashy entrance than he has to. "I am Rashid of the Turbulent Wind!" he declares and lands a few feet in front of Andy. "I hope you remember it well, my friend. I am sorry to keep you waiting!"

[ANDY]
"Rashid," Andy says, greeting his opponent. The punkish American brat that still resides within him wants to make a crack about turbulent winds, but he refrains. Instead, he bows at the waist respectfully. Leave the trash talking for once the fight begins. "There is no need for concern. I have not been waiting long."

Rising back upright, Andy returns the introduction. "I'm Andy Bogard. It's an honor to meet you Rashid. I hope that we may both learn and grow stronger from this match."

Andy sweeps one foot forward in an arc across the crimson carpet under them, bending his knees to lower his center of gravity. His hands come up, defensively placed in front of himself with his palms held open, as if he were ready to deliver knife-hand attacks at the drop of a hat. With his crystal blue eyes focused on the charismatic young man before him, the younger Bogard brother offers a faint nod, and asks, "Shall we?"

[RASHID]
Bogard is a name even someone like Rashid is aware of. Sure Andy's brother is the more famous of the two, but he is aware enough who Andy was. And in a way that is why he was excited. To fight a master ninja is something he hasn't really had a chance to face.....well aside from that Tremor fellow that tried to kill him. He much rather face off in a friendly duel like this one.

He smiles and straightens up to give a bow of his own. Not his usual way to show respect, but he feels it is the proper thing to do so he isn't to offend the ninja. "I hope that is the case. I must become stronger my friend. I am sure you will help me improve."

He bounces a bit on his bare feet on the sand as he holds his hands up and readies himself. When the officials give the signal to start the fight he quickly surges forward.

%Ninja he is not, but his movements are quick and graceful in a somewhat similar way due to his parkour training. As he nears Andy he hops upwards, his body beginning to twist quickly as he gathers energy about him to make him like something of a miniature tornado. A whirling dervish one might even say. If Andy doesn't get out of the way he finds himself being pushed back by several quick hand strikes from the spinning Rashid.

[ANDY]
Andy appreciates the sentiment displayed by Rashid. While he hasn't heard of the man before, he'll remember him moving forward. It is good to surround oneself with those who seek to improve themselves. Each of you are better for it, after all. If he can help Rashid grow stronger for whatever his goals may be, then Rashid might be able to help him in his own.

The Human Weapons eyes do, however, seem to grow cold the moment that the officials signal that the fight is on. In an instant, he "turns on", and closes his heart and sets his mind to becoming his namesake. A human weapon. As Rashid moves about spryly on his dancing feet, Andy's azure eyes are alert, observing, measuring his pace, his gait, and his tempo. Eyeing his stance and defenses.

Rashid comes in like the dervish of local legend, and Andy can only smile. Joe would certainly love this guy! As the whirlwind closes in on him, the Shiranui shinobi stands his ground, until the very last second. Only then does he tuck and roll, somersaulting across the ground in a semi-circle to avoid those flurrying hands, and in turn, wheel around the turbulent traceur. It's close, but he manages to pull it off by the skin of his teeth.

Rolling back onto his feet, Andyh whips about and leaps in at Rashid as his attack ends, hoping to avoid giving the Middle Eastern fighter a chance to claim solid footing or mount a defense. Andy shifts his stance into a stomping horse stance as he thrusts out his left elbow right at Rashid's solar plexus. He follows that through by shifting his rear foot forward, trying to drive Rashid back as he delivers a palm thrust with his right hand. Immediately, that hand snaps back, whipping across his body to "chamber" another elbow attack, leveled at Rashid's jaw, only for Andy to draw his arms in a sweeping circle and thrust out with both palms, intent upon delivering a thunderously powerful strike to the Turbulent Wind's torso, which will, if delivered successfully, help to leave the man staggered and open for Andy's unique style of unrelenting assault.

COMBATSYS: Rashid blocks Andy's Kekiheki Haisui Shou.

[RASHID]
His style is a bit unrefined due to mostly being self taught, but there is skill there. If perhaps he had a proper trainer growing up he could be much better. At the same time someone who learned to master the elements of wind on their own to implement in their style isn't anyone to take lightly more than likely.

His defenses don't seem so shoddy as well. He is coming out of the spin and manages to plant his feet as firmly as he can in the sand. Not like there is much in the way of good grip there. Even more so when he is finding himself having to deal with a quick succession of blows meant to drive him back or just knock him the hell over.

His arms move quickly to intercept each strike. Forearms blocking each one and reducing the amount of impact from each blow Any delivers.

The last he pushes off a foot and tries to put some distance between himself and Andy. He also gives a bit of a spin once more and a low kick. Despite being nowhere near to hit Andy it seems more he is using the kick to create a small gust of wind that looks to make it harder for Andy to keep pressing his attack.

COMBATSYS: Rashid successfully hits Andy with Whirlwind Shot.

[ANDY]
Rashid puts up a good defense, and Andy has to give him props for managing to deflect each of his combination attacks. The man has raw talent, if it is a bit of a diamond in the rough. Sheer reflexes and raw athleticism certainly do account for a lot in the world of martial arts. All the technique in the world doesn't help you if you don't have the physical capability to properly harness it.

Speaking of, why is he trying a spin kick? He's outside of range for that.

Perhaps his kick will slide him forward. That would seem appropriate for the way he moves. So Andy drops to one knee, and raises his guard up to defend against the low kick. But, the Whirlwind Shot is not a kick at all. It is just the means through which Rashid delivers a miniature tornado.

As Andy lowers his guard, that burst of wind catches him, and sends him reeling back. His back arches, with his neck craned back painfully as he's rocked by it under the chin. His feet slide across the ground, but his arms extend a bit to help him maintain his balance as he comes to a halt.

Immediately, Andy pushes himself off of the ground, soaring far, far overhead. His lean, wiry form cuts an impressive silhouette against the sun as he performs a single full body flip. Graceful is an understatement. His movements seem too precise, too fluid to even be human. This is the result of years of dedication to nothing but study of his martial arts.

Coming out of the flip at the apex of his leap, Andy seems almost to hang there, as his knees curl towards his chest, and his torso twists, with his arms forming a circle. Suddenly, he snaps. His legs thrust out behind him, and his hands conjoin as that circular hold of his arms becomes a thrusting elbow so forceful that it rockets the blonde ninja down at Rashid like a bullet.

No sooner than he lands, and Andy is leaping again, though this time just enough to allow his body to violently corkscrew in the air and unleash a hammering kick that spins vertically, and threatens to rain down on the top of Rashid's head.

COMBATSYS: Rashid just-defends Andy's Genei Shiranui - Uwa Agito!

[RASHID]
Not only does it work as a form of seperation, but the little tornado is just enough to allow Rashid time to settle in and prepare for what the ninja has next. He is quick, perhaps even quicker than Rashid so he will have to keep on his toes this entire fight. His style much more different than Tremor who despite being a ninja as well was more apt to stand in one place and absorb all the punishment Rashid tried to dish out.

Rash watches the movements as best he can and prepares himself. Even as Andy comes in Rashid is leaping back as he kicks a foot outwards to slam into the incoming elbow and push off of it. He gives a flip and lands in a low crouch and his arms extend to thrust his hands forward and catches the kick intended to cave in his head.

He is panting a bit heavily from the quick movements and he almost looks surprised by what he was able to do. "So quick. So this is what fighting a ninja is like." he murmurs more to himself than anything and he gives a roll away and pops back up to his feet. He then leaps forward and goes into a forward roll and explodes out of it with a dropkick of his own looking to plant both feet into the chest of Andy.

"This is Shiranui-ryuu!" Andy proclaims in response to Rashid's comment about facing a ninja. He, of course, has enough pride in his school to make certain that it doesn't just get lumped in with other ninjas. "You're pretty quick yourself, to be able to avoid that attack so perfectly."

Rashid comes rolling and bursting forth with that energetic dropkick, but Andy seems to be prepared for something unorthodox this time around. He manages to catch Rashid's feet in the palms of his hands, and then spin them, hoping to make the man corkscrew in the air as Andy throws himself into the air, whipping about like a scything windmill, his tail forming a perfect circle about his skull like a broad halo, and his fists both alight with blue chi-fire, leaving arcs of explosive energy behind them. As he rises up, trying to capitalize on his opponent's folly with this counter-attack, he shots out: "SOURYUU DAN!"

[RASHID]
"I do my best." is all he can say. He is more considering himself very lucky right now that he has been able to read moves so well. He can't let himself get cocky though. This is a ninja he is dealing with and the name Bogard is attached to it. There is no time to relax for the time being and the fact that Andy is coming in so quickly again is proof that this fight is far from over.

Hands grasp low, but Rashid jumps up and flips backwards to keep out of reach and Andy finds himself gripping nothing. There is hesitation when Rashid lands. Almost as if he isn't fully sure what he should look to do before he jumps upwards. Even more impressive he comes downwards a bit and seems to use his own energy to walk on the air and push off it to go up higher.

He then twirls about and comes down quickly with foot extended. That same wind like energy swirling around his foot as he comes down to plant the foot into Andy's chest.

COMBATSYS: Andy interrupts Airborne Eagle Spike from Rashid with Kunaidan.

[ANDY]
Andy is truly surprised when he feels his hands connect with nothing but air as he delivers that rising windmill punch. He fully expected that move would have caught Rashid off his guard and swept him up to be pummeled. Is this guy a ninja, himself? If not, maybe he should be.

As the Human Weapon comes back down from his leap, Rashid's on his air-jump up. Those sharp, crystal blue eyes track his movements, squinting against the sun. What is this airborne based fighter going to do now, he wonders. The answer is try to crash into him with a diving kick.

Andy moves as Rashid races towards him. The kick grazes Andy's chest, through the swirling wind energy surrounding the kick does more to tear and bash at the American Ninja. He, meanwhile, is already doing an aerial backflip, during which he draws forth a small throwing dagger from his gauntlet. This is thrown at the ground where Rashid will land, rather than at him directly. No, instead of trying to stab the Arabian Prince here, Andy conjures forth an gout of explosive blue ki from the ground, focused on that small dagger. That small eruption will blast Rashid back into the air and away from Andy as the ninja slides nimbly to a halt on his feet.

[RASHID]
The kick hits, but not as firmly as Rashid had hoped. Even so it is better than finding nothing but air. Even so Andy's movements let him get in a counter attack quickly while Rashid was still not fully able to land and prepare himself. He does twist to avoid that dagger thinking that is what to worry about.

And he was so very wrong.

The dagger lands below him and as he is landing that is when the eruption of chi comes upwards. The Arab is caught by surprise and is knocked away by the blast. Thankfully the beach makes for a somewhat soft impact even if he has to be careful not to get sand in his eyes as he rolls across it and then quickly clambers back to his feet. He will have to make note to be a bit more careful now in that case. A trick that he will now be wary of if Andy should try it again.

Taking a deep breath he takes just a moment as his eyes dart about. He has a few tricks up his sleeve, but he decides to keep things more simplistic in this case. Something he may regret later, but for now he rushes forward again. He is wary of any other possible traps set by the ninja before ducking in low and bringing an arm forward to a quick elbow strike that he looks to land right into the midsection of the ninja.

COMBATSYS: Andy dodges Rashid's Medium Punch.

[ANDY]
Andy doesn't look smug about having landed such a deceitful attack on Rashid. Rather, the Human Weapon simply looks determined. The fight is his sole focus. It might be a friendly duel, but even in such matches, Andy has to harden his heart and close it off. The way of the ninja is to win at all costs. Let the dead worry about what is fair in matters of war.

Of course, this match isn't anywhere near as serious as that, but if Andy doesn't treat it as such, he might be overwhelmed by Rashid's speed and unconventional methodology. He's an unusual fighter, that much is certain. Andy might actually learn something from this. If he can just be smart enough.

When he sees Rashid coming at him again, Andy's eyes snap open wide, and he bursts into action. Leaping backwards, the white clad ninja arches back and lands on one hand. As his feet come overhead, his nimbleness aids him in doing a half turn, which turns his back handspring into a roundoff, carring him out of the way of Rashid's elbow.

"Elbow strikes? That is something of a ninja specialty," Andy says with a lopsided smirk. "Here. Let me show you!"

Suddenly, Andy Bogard seems to flicker, becoming little more than a blur of white, red, black and gold. A line of afterimages follow him, as he closes the gap he had just created between the two of them with indescribable velocity. He clutches his left fist within his right palm, and uses both arms to aid him in creating even more speed and power as he thrusts his elbow out at Rashid's solar plexus. For those who are familiar with the younger of the two Bogards' fighting styles, this would be Andy's signature:

"ZANEIKEN!"

[RASHID]
He never really thought much about it. Elbow strikes that is. For Rashid it just seems like a good way to get in close with a quick blow and give time to slip away. A bit less of an extension too when throwing a punch and kick. "Hmm?"

It is a lesson he is soon not going to forget either. Andy comes in and Rashid can already guess what is going to happen given the words that were just said. It is more the lightning speed and the sheer force of that elbow as it impacts him. His eyes go wide and he feels the air knocked out of him as he is knocked away and sent tumbling across the sands once more.

He takes a few deep breaths trying to get air back in his lungs as he is slow to get up. He can't allow himself to take many more blows such as that one. That much is for sure. He staggers some and gives a slight nod. "I see...." is all he finally says in response and knows much more to be wary when andy Andy gets so close.

To his credit Rashid doesn't seem overly intimidated. Once he seems to get his wits back he does surge forward. He leaps forward as he closes in and seems to only stop for a moment like he lands on the air before surging forward with foot extended with another kick. Though this time it is a straight forward strike than a more downward angle like last time.

COMBATSYS: Rashid successfully hits Andy with Eagle Spike.

[ANDY]
As Rashid is sent rolling away, Andy pauses there, holding his deep horse stance and elbow pose with a small grin of satisfaction on his face. That was a good hit. A solid hit. Possibly the first real hit he's managed to land to his satisfaction against this agile fighter yet. "And that is how you elbow strike!"

As Rashid gets to his feet, Andy's posture shifts into his classic fighting stance. Mostly upright, with his hips turned to the side and his knees bent. Hands out and open just under his chin, ready to defend. A toss of his head whips his ponytail back behind him.

"Are you really going to try this again?" Andy says as he sees the start of Rashid's move. However, it doesn't come from above as he had expected. The switch of angle of attack throws the Human Weapon off, and he's caught with the kick, almost completely unguarded. It is his turn to go tumbling end over end.

"Dammit."

His fist punches the sand as he pushes himself back onto his feet. Dammit, Andy! Are you really so worthless as to have let such a predictable move take you by surprise? It was slow. It was practically advertised. This is why you still live in your brother's shadow. You're just not fast enough. You're not strong enough. You just do dumb things!

"Well done..."

He dashes in close with his near lightning speed. As he slides into Rashid's personal bubble, Andy slides his leading foot around the back of Rashid's leg. He reaches out, trying to grasp the man's wrist with his rear hand, and his throat with the lead. Should he manage this, he sweeps Rashid around, using that leg lock as leverage to slam Rashid down onto the sand at his feet.

[RASHID]
"Learn from my mistakes and try again." The last time wasn't so successful, but it seems he found a way to feint and land his strike this time around. Much like how Andy lured him thinking the dagger was the real attack the initial leap was to throw him off.

"If I had time I would ask you to show me more in a more private setting. Proper training, but things keep me busy." He comments before going on guard when Andy starts to move again. He plants his feet as best he can given the sandy terrain and actually holds his ground this time around.

The wrist is grabbed, but then he comes up and grabs the wrist of the hand reaching out to try and take him by the throat. That is when things start to feel as if a breeze is picking up between the two. Rashid gets a bit more of a serious look as he looks to break free and take a short hop back. The wind continues to pick up and Rashid sort of twists and leaps upwards as he starts to spin quickly and pull in that wind into a much larger tornado than he has use so far. If Andy isn't quick enough to get away in time things could get hectic quickly.

And the winds continue to pick up. Onlookers are forced to back away as a giant tornado has been created by the spinning Rashid. One that is sending sand everywhere and blowing over chairs and umbrellas. For Andy he is being swirled about by the strong winds as he can only catch glimpses of Rashid among the Tornado as he delivers a quick strike here and there to batter the ninja. Then the winds start to die down and while still in air Andy sees Rashid emerge from the torrent of wind to deliver one final thrust kick to knock Andy away before landing on the sand once more with arms folded and trying his best to look stoic and badass, but he is really wanting to take a few deep breaths because all that energy too a lot out of him.

[ANDY]
Those winds. Rashid shouldn't be asking him to show him some techniques. Really, he should be speaking with Joe Higashi. The two whirlwind fighters would have a lot of things to teach one another, Andy surmises. But Joe has been so busy in the Thai circuits defending his title that he's been neglecting other avenues. Seems they're both busy men, too.

But as that wind kicks up, Andy Bogard isn't intending to stick around to deal with it. As sand and rose petals from the giant wreath start to swirl around the spinning Arabian Knight here, Andy is backing away. He has a lot of familiarity, through the aforementioned Joe Higashi, with just how difficult such elemental forces can be to contend with. And just how powerful they can be. As the tornado rises, Andy's eyes gleam and he starts to backflip away.

"I won't fall for such tricks! You should have done your homework! My sparring partner is the Young Champ of Muay Thai, Joe Higashi! He uses similar moves!"

And certainly, Andy's deft manuevering is on point. It seems like he's able to avoid the tornado as it twirls and thrashes at him. All up until an umbrella, swept up in the storm, crashes against his back.

Andy is swept in to the dust devil, and spun around, spiraling up its length until it starts to diminish. It doesn't give him any ability to move out of the way when Rashid comes in with that thrusting kick, which knocks him back to the ground.

"Ugh!"

It's not fair. He had that. What the hell happened? Why does fate conspire against him at every single turn? Andy grits his teeth, before he coughs, expelling blood from his mouth into the palm of his hand. His eyes widen as he looks at it, and trembles with pure, unbridled rage. What the hell is wrong with him? Why does he keep getting taken down by fighters and tricks that should present no challenge to him at all? It is like the universe is just laughing at him!

"I'VE HAD ENOUGH!!!"

As Rashid stands there, basking in his victory (in Andy's head), the Human Weapon comes barreling in with a scream of complete and utter wrath. He leads with a left backfist, aimed at Rashid's face. Without a pause, he follows through with a smashing elbow strike from the right, and moves directly into a palm strike, aimed at Rashid's chin.

Sweeping his arms into a large circular motion, they leave tracer afterimages in their wake, and his hands eventually come together in front of his chest, as if holding a sphere. He thrusts out with his right palm, gripping his wrist with his left hand as an explosion of fiery chi erupts from his hand like a muzzle flare, carrying with it the concussive force of a grenade. Drawing back, he thrusts both palms together, in the classic manner through which one throws a projectile, accompanied by another of those fiery blasts. And once again, lunging forward for more power, to finish of the three burst barrage.

COMBATSYS: Andy can no longer fight.

Quickly Rashid drops his guard for just a split second. That smug fading as he raises hands and hops on one foot. "I did not mean to offend! I was ju-"

He has little time to finish his apology. Even after all that punishment Andy has lost little in the ways of quickness. It may very well just be fate being cruel in the way that Rashid is stumbling backwards over himself and in doing so he tilts and turns the right way to where Andy finds his strikes hitting nothing but air. He finally gives a roll to the side when that first eruption of chi comes forth and he just keeps rolling as he doesn't want to be anywhere near things. He is a bit disoriented when he kips up to his feet and he has to take a quick look around.

He quickly twirls about and readies himself as he isn't what to expect next as he breathes heavily and does his best to regain his wits. "T....too close." Note to self. Do not do anything to anger a ninja. That was perhaps more scary than anything Tremor even threw at him. Flames are certainly more fightening than rocks to him.

[ANDY]
Andy may not be slow to Rashid, but he can feel the sluggishness in his limbs. They feel so heavy. His ears are still ringing and his vision is blurry. And as Rashid manages to avoid his assault, Andy just curses himself internally, more, for not being fast enough, or strong enough.

As Rashid comes out of his roll, Andy loses his grip on consciousness. Snarling, he collapses to his knees, and then slumps forward, face first to the ground.

[RASHID]
Rashid stands there for a few more moments. Then it seems Andy is down and he is declared the winner by the SNF official on hand. "I win?" He asks then there is some excitement that starts to show. A good excitement of having a excellent fight with a peer and not the excitement of 'holy shit I didn't die to this assassin'.

"Yeah! Ten points! I did it!" he declares as he jumps in the air and does a little bit of a twirl and a kick in the air before landing. He then looks sheepish. Despite Andy being unconcious he feels bad for celebrating in such a way. Instead he straightens up and gives a bow to the fallen opponent.

"Master!"

"Oh no!" Rashid knows that voice too well. He sees a rather perturbed Azam coming his way and he quickly decides to dash away instead of listening to the talking to he is about to get. Go figure the fun is cut short and he doesnt' even get a real moment to celebrate as he goes bounding off down the beach as Azam gives chase. "Master! Wait!" "No time, Azam! I got something to take care of! Meet me back at the hotel!"

COMBATSYS: Rashid has ended the fight here.
