Match of the Millennium

Description: Unparalleled in skill within the NOL, the cold Jin Kisaragi leads the NOL to the forefront of the battle against the occupiers of Illyria. As the expedition sets up, he holds the vanguard as the champion of the NOL. To answer him? An ogre-like creature, fortified with a horde of gnashing goblins and bogies. Armed with the Yukianesa, the unstable Jin Kisaragi faces the army alone, making a demonstration of force to run to the very heart of the strange occupiers of Illyria.

In the sky, the sun reaches its peak, covering the land in bright afternoon light!

However, this is irrelevent to those within the darkened forest under Jins command. Due to the thick canopy of leaves and trees, only the thinnest rays of light penetrating beneath their branches to the ground below! There is, as a result, enough light to see and be aware of the immediate environment, yet still enough shadow for the stealthy to have manuevering room. The sound of the birds echoes through the area, as the usual annoying insects buzz and harass any they find suffeciently tasty, and occasionally local wildlife can be seen moving through the shrubbery.

[JIN KISARAGI]
Members of the NOL are flitting around, constructing temporary buildings, throwing up tents, and preparing facilities to establish a base camp. The group had arrived a little behind schedule; the maps had not properly conveyed the density of the forest.

Jin Kisaragi had been called from his posting in Japan to eastablish a foothold in this area, to allow the Librarium better access to dig sites and whatnot. He was, needless to say, not entirely thrilled. Ragna was still out there. Somewhere. He did not speak, allowing various underlings to get the job done.

He was certain his would be starting, and all too soon.

[MUNIN]
A roar can be heard from..... somewhere nearby. It echoes through the treetops, and washes over the camp. Several smaller snarls can soon be heard coupled with the heavy sound of breathing as the feeling that something very large is approaching!

It doesn't take long for the threat to make itself known, and how great a threat it is at that!

A large mighty Ogre, muscles bulging, mouth large and drooling in hunger, and eye bloodshot and angry, charges into the camp, swiping away tents and lesser soldiers alike with single swipes of it's laaaaaarge meaty hands!

Accompanying it are 5 smaller, more rabid-looking creatures, looking like smaller versions of their larger compatriot. As the big one charges in, they come in just behind, claws ending the lives of any dazed survivors they come across!

Jin regards the noise with cool calm as a body goes flying past him. He takes two steps before taking longer, swifter strides to carry him toward the goblins. His right hand dips to the hilt of the sword at his left hip, causing the weapon to forge itself from pure ice.

The sword pulls moisture and heat from the air around it, forming a large, sharply pointed slab of ice floating a couple of feet from the ground. It stays there for a moment, and Jin hops onto it before the platform rockets into the mass of the goblins!

three of the goblins, despite their best efforts to bring up their arms to guard, are sent flying by Jins icy-based flying attack! One doesn't get up, but the rest seem to ignore the injuries and procees to scramble to counter-attack with their bretheren! Doing so seems to only increase how much one of them bleeds despite it's zeal! Desperate claws swipe at Jins chest and legs!

Meanwhile, the large ogre, seemingly drawn to the commotion, charges towards Jin with bloodlust in it's eyes, nostrals flaring as it takes in the scent of the fresh blood that now fills the air! As it closes, it swings first at him, seemingly unconcerned with where or how it may hit him!

Jin is already leaping clear of the ice as it shatters into dust, landing in time to plant his feet in the face of the charging ogre. He brings the sheathed Yukainesa up to catch and divert the punch, causing him to skid back several feet.

This allows the goblins time to swarm. Jin is clawed, drawing fresh blood. Nothing vital, all of it messy. This draws Jin's rage, as the man rips Yukainesa free once more. The blade of ice forms and rips into the goblins, freezing some of them in place!

"Leave now if you value your lives," the man says in a cool tone of voice. "Otherwise I will show no mercy."

[MUNIN]
Another goblin falls, leaving only 3 remaining. As the swords strike hits them, they are covered in a coating of ice in addition to the blade itself. Their bodies don't respond properly, making movement difficult. This seems to only lead them to attack blindly but no less savagely! Their skin in several places tears and peels as they strive against the effects the cold has on their skin and muscles!

The ogre meanwhile lunges forwards despite the block, snapping Jin with large, dirty teeth! Hit or miss, spittle and the smell of the rotting flesh in between it's teeth wafts towards the human warrior!

Jins warning goes completely unheeded! Whether they are too taken by bloodlust, or just too dumb to understand is unknown at this point.....

Jin lashes out with an empty hand, pushing the ogre's head away to avoid the teeth before turning to face the goblins. He snarls, then wades into the trio. If the cutting and slashing and biting have any psychological effect, it does not show as his blood scatters to soak the ground.

All the better for Jin to strike, as he lashes out with Yukainesa slashing at goblins as he strides through, looking to cut them down quickly so that he can focus on the ogre properly.

Despite the goblins best efforts, all but one are cut down by Jins counter-attack, some from the attack itself, others due to the culmination of damage to their bodies building up. The last one, feeling cornered, does what most creatures do best in such a case: It charges forwards with all it has with it's very life on the line! It pounts it's fists and claws at him relentlessly!

The large ogre, meanwhile, is clearly not happy with how little effect it's having against this small weak prey, and reaches out to grab at Jin, intent on flinging him into a nearby tree as hard as it can!

Jin brings the hilt of his weapon up, deftly parrying each of the goblin's incoming strikes with cool precision. Then the ogre grabs him. Time crystalizes for Kisaragi as he goes flying. The young man turns a neat flip, planting his feet on the tree he was thrown at. Legs bunch and tighten, and then Kisaragi launches in a high arc toward the remaining goblin, before slashing down at the lone gobber with a furious sweep of his icy blade!

That poor poor goblin. It's beady little eyes wiiiiiiden in terror as it sees Jin land against the tree, and look it's way before launching himself it's way! It gives a panicked shriek and brings up it's arms in the hopes of staving off the attack, but to no avail! With a single clean slice, its top half is seperated from its bottom half, spattering the area with blood and gore!

The ogre is undaunted, and closing in, swings its mammoth fists at Jin with an annoyed grunt of effort!

Jin's eyes narrow as he regards the ogre. He steps toward the monster, slipping the punch neatly as he dodges past.

"Lumbering /brute/," he snarls, and sheathes Yukainesa. His now empty hand sweeps out and in its wake, a large sword of ice forms. It is short for its size, and broader of blade than one would suspect from someone like Jin. The sword hangs in the air for a moment before slashing towards the ogre, intent on piercing the beast and locking it in a block of ice!

The large ogre is far too late in any attempt it may make to defend, and ROOOOOOARS in pain and anger as the strike hits it cleanly! Flesh freezes, is sliced, and in other places tears due to the cold as the beast is frozen in place momentarily! It doesn't manage to COMPLETELY engulf it in ice, but it is enough that it is definately having a hard time moving! It smashes as the ice around it, breaking it's way free at a decent speed!

Jin regards the ogre with cool detachment as the beast tries to break free. Then Kisaragi takes a couple of long strides toward the monster, Yukainesa leaping free from the sheath as Jin drives the blade at anything that looks like an opening or a vital point as he charges.

The ferocity and momentum of the flurry is such that Jin is carried past the ogre before the sword returns to its sheath!

More and more damage is piled upon the ogre, its lifeblood flowing freely in some places, and freezing in others!

It is STILL dangerous though! To prove this, as Jin comes in with his attacks, it leans fowards, due to it's arms still being hindered by the ice, taking the attack full on, and BITES down hard on his shoulder!

[JIN KISARAGI]
Jin howls, partly in pain and partly in rage as he plants a foot on the ogre to get clear. His own blood is flowing freely, his breath coming in ragged gasps. He wobbles, eve-so-slightly, before righting himself.

"DISPERSE!" he yells as he leaps back, drawing and slashing with that icy blade hopefully for the last time.

The sword leaves a massive crescent of ice in its wake, which launches itself toward the ogre with crushing force!

With berzerker rage, the ogre breaks free of the ice, charging once more towards Jin! Through sheer luck, its feet momentarily slip a bit on the ice, and it careens to the side, juuuuuuust managing to avoid Jins attack! Roaring in hatred, it regains its footing, and closes! Reaching out to grab him, if successful, it slams him repeatedly with it's fists, before throwing him as hard as it can into another tree!

Jin parries the punches once more, and rides the throw once again. He does not, however, spring off of the tree instead lightly landing on the ground as he considers his situation.

The ogre is big, ugly, strong, and slow. And apparently possessed of a certain amount of sheer luck. Jin is starting to reach the end of his resources. He needs a moment to center himself again. He circles the beast, taking deep breaths. The effect of this is a calming one, allowing him to put his body in a state where he is (maybe) bleeding less.

Either way, something needs to give.

The large creater stares at Jin with undisguised hatred! Blood flows freely from it's injuries, weakening it. Its breath comes in heaves as it musters its strength, watching him as he circles! It relishes the chance to devour him if given the opportunity, or crush him under foot if not! For now, the pair eye each other warily, ready to explode into action at a moments notice!

Jin bares his teeth in a snarl as the ogre seems to back off a bit. Then Jin charges again, leaping before delivering a downward strike. Not with the sword itself, mind you, but with the sheath of the weapon.

It's aimed directly at the beast's skull!

COMBATSYS: Great Ogre fails to interrupt Crushing Strike from Jin Kisaragi with Unmatched Dominance.

As Jin leaps forwards to deliver his strike, so too does the giant ogre charge forth to tear the life out of him! It's much like something out of a movie, with the noble hero, covered in blood and injured, flying towards his nemesis, each in the hope of vanquishing the other, putting everything into one final attack to decide the victor!

A loud CRACK echoes through the branches and treetops as the pair pass each other!

The ogre, however, lands in a stumble, falling forwards with unchecked momentum, it's skull cracked and head caved in, death rattle audible in it's throat. There is no question of who the victor has been in this encounter.......
