Description: Hitting the streets of downtown Gatlinburg, Tennessee, three fighters face down with a crowd pleasing combat costume party (sponsored by Ripley's Believe It Or Not). In an effort to see whether or not an undead ninja still has what it takes, Maki is forced to fight against a tag team of Zombie Rocker Alexis and the Bearly believable Rainbow Mika. Did you get it? Rainbow Mika is dressed as a bear. It was a pun.
Part of learning to be a ninja means you have to learn to expect the unexpected, and sometimes you can't do anything about it, you have to just go along with it. This has happened many times to Maki, especially when she's been within the SNF league. All sorts of challenges, some physical, some mental, and some just outlandish, are part of becoming a true ninja. But in this case, being forced to dress up in weird costumes and then fight, makes her think of that song by Peter Gabriel, where it talks about dressing up in costumes and playing silly games. Except this is anything but a silly game. Instead, it's a handicap match which is going to test Maki's abilities like it's nothing else.
So what is Maki wearing as a costume, because it's supposed to be part of the Haunted Attraction? What exactly is she wearing for this event? Why, she's wearing her usual attire... except she's decaying? And her uniform is ripped?! What the heck has happened to Maki? Why is she covered in wounds and look like she's a zombie?
Yeah, Maki's going as a zombie ninja. She looks like she's suffered numerous bites and her flesh is decaying. Not to mention, one of her legs looks like it has a slight limp to it, but that's just a trick of the eye thanks to being extra flexible from being a ninja and all that. All of this is thanks to movie quality makeup that makes store bought stuff look like cheap knockoffs. So it does look like she's a real zombie! One who's wielding her tonfa well.
"I hope this gets over with soon," Maki mutters. "This makeup feels awful! I had no idea being a zombie was so hard!"
When it comes to dressing up for a fight, professional wrestlers already have the advantage of doing that every time they step into the ring. And while one might expect costumes for a Halloween event to be scary, there's a minor problem with that: Rainbow Mika is Japanese, and Halloween has only barely crossed over from the west. As best as she can understand it, it's a cosplay holiday.
Obviously her first instinct was to consider dressing up as Zangief, but those didn't work out so well, so the Rainbow Bomber has decided to take a page from an internet meme where people keep doodling over pictures of bears trying to get the Red Cyclone's attention. One subset of those, based on her interviews proclaiming Zangief the greatest fighter in the world, has been bears now photoshopped to look like Rainbow Mika herself.
And so here she is, pulling on the headpiece of her costume and adjusting it as best she can to still be able to see. She takes a deep breath and then comes barrelling out of one of the small shops along Gatlinburg's downtown, spreading out her arms and letting out her best "RAAAAAOOOOOAAR!" The crowd cheers as the wrestler pops out in a brown bear mascot costume that has been decked out in Rainbow Mika's wrestling costume, with a pair of blonde pigtails stuck to the sides of the head.
Zombies are in this year. Then again, when aren't they in? It's entirely coincidence that while Maki is playing Zombie Ninja, Alexis is playing Zombie Rocker Chick. While there's little emphasis on gore or decay, the Canadian punk's skin has been painted a pale bluish tint with costume makeup. The scar on her cheek has been enhanced to look more like a freshly sutured cut, her eyes are given a sunken look with liberal levels of eyeshadow, and she's dressed all in purple and black: a spiked leather collar, short spaghetti top, a pair of tight leather shorts, elbow-length leather gloves, and black calf boots over thigh high socks make up her outfit. Subbing in for her usual red guitar is one with a Canadian flag design on the v-shaped body and a skull design at the end of the neck - one might recognize it as being somewhat similar to one sometimes used by a certain infamous Australian god of death metal.
Just minutes before the scheduled start of the match, she's having a last moment chat with fellow band member Kim Steele, who's wearing a fur bikini with a beaver tail on the bottoms and a beaver-head-shaped hood, and drummer Matthew "Matty Bad" Barker, who has chosen the path of irony by not wearing a costume at all, resulting in him looking like something out of an eighties cyberpunk film.
"Zombies are seriously overdone. You should have gone for something more original if you wanted that big sponsorship bonus," Matty remarks.
"Hey, at least I wore a costume. This should match up with whatever Mika picks," Alexis replies to the drummer with a scowl. "She's pretty hot, and her usual costume's pretty sexy. She's probably gonna turn it up to eleven for Halloween."
"I still think you should have been a sexy beaver, like me. We could have been beaver twins!" the Kim 'Penetrable' Beaver chimes in, bringing the discussion to a shuddering halt as the other two simply stare. Meanwhile, guitarist 'Benny Lava' is off in a dressing room somewhere having a minor panic attack over his own choice of costume.
The sound of the ursine roar turns the heads of all three Killasaurus Crew members present. Alexis' brow furrows as she stares at the Mika-in-bear-in-Mika-costume-costume. She opens her mouth as if about to say something, then closes it again. Twice. Finally, she just makes her way to the designated fighting area, dumbfounded, but unslinging her guitar as she goes.
"Mika-chan?" she greets the wrestler in terrible Japanese as she flips the on-switch of her guitar, filling the air with a hum. "Are you ready to stone with me?" She winks at Mika, before strumming a quick pair of chords and letting them ring through the area, raising an arm as she turns to the cheering crowd and calling out to them in English. "What's up, Gatlingburgers?!"
A bear... no wait, a bear that ate Rainbow Mika and donned her outfit? No, it's just Mika wearing a silly bear outfit... at least in Maki's opinion. The fact she's got the usual outfit on over the costume seems to really spoil things for Maki. It ruins the mystery for her. But the fact that there's a zombie girl also fighting against her? Seems kind of unfair that she'd be going up against one of her own.
"Zombie versus zombie? I suppose in this world anything goes," Maki comments with a shrug, rolling her neck around a little, before looking to the wrestling bear. "And did you have to wear that silly outfit with your bear costume, Mika? It really looks unbecoming on you!" She shrugs again. "Regardless, I'm ready to fight when you two are!" She gets into her fighting stance, ignoring how awful the makeup is on her body and face.

By the time Alexis has hit the street properly, Rainbow Mika has already found herself being distracted by some of the Rainbowmaniacs lined up along the side of the street, turning to wave and roar at them, much to the delight of the younger crowd. An important aspect of being there for your fans is a refusal to let yourself be embarassed by doing something that makes the crowd happy, so about the time she's being called to the ring, she's actually interrupted in the middle of patting her padded bear backside and blowing a kiss to the crowd.
Turning, she waddling slightly as she rushes down to the fight, enjoying the giggling she can still hear behind her from the crowd. Once in position, she spreads her arms out to the sides and squats somewhat awkwardly in her bear costume as mascot eyes lock in on the ninja in front of her.
"Ready... set... GHOUL!" shouts the announcer, signalling the start of the fight.
And Rainbear Mika is off with remarkable speed for somebody dressed in an actual costume, flying across the open area before kicking up and twisting around near the last second as she flies bear-bottomed right at Maki!

"Zombie on zombie is badass," Alexis calls back at Maki as she rests her guitar across her shoulders, draping her forearms over it like a set of stocks. "It's a good thing I'm not the brain-eating kind of zombie, or I'd be worried that I was gonna starve! Instead, me and the bear are gonna eat you ali - er - dead...?"
Luckily, Alexis is saved from the awkward turn her taunt has taken by the announcement of the match's start. Pulling her guitar down against her back by the strap, she cracks her knuckles, a faint tonal pulse ringing through the street. Already, though, Rainbow Mikabear is on the attack, and Alexis is left watching the bear fly through the air.
"Hey! Wait for me!" Alexis shouts, before charging toward Maki herself. As she gets near, she whirls around, raising one leg high in the air as she does so. Upon raising her leg to the apex of the arc, Alexis' face twists into a grimace. Immediately following is a high-pitched melodic hum signalling the sonic chi gathering around her foot as she aims an axe-kick/legdrop toward Maki, depending on the ninja's position in the wake of Rainbow's attack.

Being a zombie ninja means that you lose your ability to move quickly... at least that's what the video games claim would happen. In the movies, zombies are capable of moving very fast and doing very powerful things. And so is Maki, even though she's supposed to be a zombie. Because as Alexis attempts to deliver her unique axe-kick attack, Maki is quick to move out of the way, shaking her head as if to say, "You'll have to do better than that!" Then she turns to face the bear... Rainbow Mika.
Bear-bottom or human bottom, it doesn't matter, Maki doesn't want anything to do with it. She raises her arms and blocks Mika's attempt at bum-rushing her, staggering backwards slightly but otherwise not feeling it too much. "You're lucky, bear hunting is out of season for now," Maki says sarcastically to Mika before facing Alexis. "You want to see a kick? Here's a real kick!" Maki says as she attempts to kick at Alexis's stomach with her sneaker clad foot.
Alright, so there are immediately some problems with going all out like Rainbow Mika has for this fight:
1) The costume makes it a little bit harder to move, especially compared to the two zombies who only have to deal with some make-up issues.
2) It's really hard to see when the head doesn't want to turn around a whole lot and you can only see out of the front of the mask.
All of this means it's a good thing that Maki doesn't seem overly interested in taking the fight directly to Mika, because after she bounces off the zombie ninja, she ends up dropped on her backside and, like many mascots before her, struggles for a moment to get back up to her feet.
Once there, obviously she has one option: "GUUUUUOOOOOOOOOOO!"
The bear roar fills the air as she endeavors to make use of the most iconic of bear attacks: the bear hug! While Maki is hopefully distracted by Alexis, Mika comes in from behind and attempts to wrap her furry arms around the other mysteriously blonde Japanese woman and squeeze all the air out of her while showing what a fighter can do bear handed!

While Alexis might like to say something in protest about how 'real' her kick was, she's a bit distracted by the actual mechanics of said kick - specifically, kicking that high in tight leather shorts rather than her usual skirt and the resulting discomfort. She opens her mouth and raises her arms to defend herself, but the kick's already connected with her gut. "Hurk!"
Doubled over, Alexis staggers back as her Comrade Bear rises up to press the assault. Letting out a groan as she unintentionally slips into character, she lurches toward Maki, arms outstretched. While the ninja is (hopefully) distracted, the zombie punk rocker chick attempts to capitalize by grabbing Maki by the shoulders from behind and slamming a headbutt into the back of the blonde's head before dragging her toward the ground.

One thing about Maki is that she prefers to avoid combat whenever possible... literally that is. She tries to avoid being hit by her opponents whenever possible, in hopes of wearing them down and striking then. Unfortunately, this tactic does not always work, and while Alexis may think that was a real kick, Maki is merely offering her comment because she didn't think the kick was much of a threat to her. Unfortunately, the ninja doesn't always succeed with her actions, and this time is no exception as Maki finds herself being head-butted by Alexis, and that causes her to yell in pain and frustration. The impact causes her to stagger a little to the side, then drop to one knee.
The upside to this is that it causes her to move out of the way of Mika's attempt to deliver a bear hug. Namely since while Maki would like a bear hug sometime, it'd preferably be from someone she actually likes as a friend or partner, and not someone trying to actually crush her alive! As Maki rubs at her head where she was hit by Alexis's head, she looks around and then gets an idea. At first it looks like she's about to get back up, but she doesn't.
Instead, Maki drives the tip of her tonfa (still unfazed by the 'undead' issue plaguing Maki) into the ground, and then proceeds to spin around like a top on the ground, her leg outstretched and aimed directly at the bear itself. Apparently, hunting season on bears has now opened!

There is a special secret to wearing a real costume over just strategic makeup, and this is a secret that has saved many a mascot from a terrible children's birthday party. Mascot suits make it hard to move and see, but they also have the ability to absorb damage.
As Maki begins to spin, Bear Mika doesn't have the ability to get out of the way, to keep the bear proportions correct, the legs are fairly stubby. Even more than that, Rainbow Mika (inside the suit) isn't one to be afraid of taking a few hits to get in. So as Maki spins, she manages to get a few good hits on Mika, even managing to send the bear head spinning all the way around once, but it's not enough, through all that muffled pain, to push Mika back.
In fact, after bearing the brunt of Maki's assault, Mika finds that Maki is a conveniently awkward position, that should make it all the harder to move by the time the wrestler mascot lashes out to snare her, hauling the ninja up on her shoulder upsidedown and then, after a few precious moments of balancing, dropping back to slam Maki dome first into the street.
Given a moment of breathing room as Maki turns the focus of her aggression on her ursine counterpart, Alexis steps to one side, rubbing a hand against her sore forehead. Seeing the set-up for the Brainbearster (okay, that one may have been overreaching), the Canadian teenager decides to make a show of confidence. Turning to the crowd, Alexis throws both fists into the air.
"Alright, Gatlingburg! Let's hear you f---ing ROAR, b--ches!"
Luckily the censors are there to save the viewers at home from the punk rocker's pottymouth, but the Appalachian crowd aren't particularly perturbed - they readily let out a roar in unison as Rainbow Mika-Bear sets up for the wrestling maneuver.
Alexis knows that the cheer is more for the rising wrestling icon slash angry bear than the zombie-themed rocker, but it still plays into Alexis' own ends - the outpouring of noise feeds into the Canadian fighter's sonic power, building the energy around her to a steady hum as she focuses on harnessing it.
Of course, the distraction does leave her rather open to attack - especially should the anticipated attack be slipped by the zombie ninja...

Maki isn't really feeling like having her brains busted. Namely because she's still using them, unlike most zombies who probably don't use much of them. Although it's coincidentally necessary for them since most need their brains to function. But that's aside from the point.
Proving that zombies are tough no matter what, Maki tightens herself and grabs onto Mika, not letting the wrestler pick her up. She waits until Mika lets go before facing her. "You're pretty tough, even with that bear costume on. I'd give you a treat, but I don't think they want us feeding the bears at all." A slight chuckle at her lame joke. "So I'm just gonna have to deal with you the way a ninja would!"
Maki twirls her tonfa a few times to indicate what she means, as well as to show that she's definitely no slouch as a zombie with her tonfa either. "See how you like some of THIS!" She yells as she attempts to strike Mika with her tonfa. She notices Alexis doing something, but doesn't seem to pay much attention to it for the time being.

Fighting the undead is a staple of professional wrestling, as stupid as that may sound. Even before it became known that the creatures of the night actually existed out in the real world, wrestlers would take on the role of the undead with their gimmicks, acting as giant, unstoppable monsters. The problem with this, compared to now, is that those undead wrestlers tended to be large, lumbering brutes rather than agile ninjas. Honestly, it's pretty hard to buy the idea of a zombie being speedy.
Immediate downside, Maki's just a bit too fast for Mika to put up any sort of defense in her currently costumed form and the tonfa gets in a solid hit that sends Mika reeling backward for a bit.
Right, not the best option, perhaps it's time to do what both mascots and wrestlers do best: bear their soul to the crowd! Straightening up from her injury, Mika turns her back to the ninja, suddenly waving wildly at the crowd as she begins to hop around. It takes only a moment for the fight fans to recognize that they're being called to action and the crowd erupts with chanting.

With the crowd's attention shifting to Mika, Alexis claps her hands a couple of times over her head in time with the rhythm of the chant, helping to lead the audience in doing so. It's not an entirely typical state of affairs for the Canadian to pander so blatantly to the crowd, but it's far from a typical situation period - and building on the wrestling star's crowd-pleasing presence has the side effect of bolstering Alexis as well.
That's not to say that Alexis is above trying to steal the show herself - while the bear-suited booty-battler is bouncing around and hyping up the fans, Alexis suddenly turns sharply. Looking to try and catch Maki in a moment of distraction with the ursine heroine, Alexis attempts to engage in an act of undead betrayal, throwing herself at Maki in a flying cross-body - another action not typically expected of your average zombie - aiming to crash her midsection sideways into Maki's. Should she collide, a deep and distorted bass thump of sonic energy would be released, at which point she'll attempt to swing herself around Maki's body, hook an arm over the ninja's head, and drop backward, trying to drive the zombie's head into the ground with a secondary shockwave released. It's a zombie's weak point, right?

First it's Alexis trying to pump herself up, now Rainbow Mika is trying to do so... and even with that bear suit on, she's still doing a good job of getting herself pumped up by the crowd. So Maki turns her attention to Alexis again, anticipating something coming from her. She steadies herself, wondering what this girl is capable of. Her question is answered soon enough as Alexis demonstrates an extreme skill she'd expect Rainbow Mika to be performing instead. She gets caught and then round and round they go, before down Maki goes, headfirst!
Yes, hitting a zombie in the head causes major damage... except this isn't your standard zombie you're dealing with here. Maki tenses herself up and braces for the impact, meaning that she gets more of a bump on the head than an actual smash into the ground. Meaning that the ninja zombie isn't as hurt as one might expect.
In fact, Maki manages to roll forwards to a standing position as soon as she hits the ground, which helps ease the blow even more. She lands in a crouched position briefly, before rushing up at Alexis. "Zombie wrestling? Sounds like a match made in hell literally," She comments, before attempting to grab Alexis by the neck. "And I for one don't view myself as one of hell's angels, so you'll have to settle for a more traditional technique instead!" Before attempting to administer an over the shoulder throw.
Despite all that time that Maki has spent with Mike Haggar, it quickly becomes apparent that she's failed to learn some very important lessons about professional wrestlers. At the moment, the lesson she's forgotten is: never turn your back on an opponent when they've got the crowd cheering for them. It doesn't matter if a wrestler is face down in the dirt or running the ropes, the moment that the crowd is begging for them to do something is the moment where they're ready to do something incredible.
In this particular case, Rainbear Mika suddenly comes charging in from behind at full, reckless speed, letting out a ferocious "GUAOOOOOOOOOO!" just as she launches into the air, aimed to plant a flying dropkick into Maki's back.
...and as her feet hit, the bear costume explodes, mascot parts flying everywhere as Rainbow Mika is beared for the entire crowd. However, rather than her usual outfit, that the bear had been wearing, she seems to be a bit... fuzzier. Bear paws replace gloves and boots, with furry limbs going all the way up to her elbows and knees, leaving a bit of skin bear between them and the furry bear bikini (complete with bear tail on the bottoms). Finally, topping it off is a bear mask, marked by a brown strip of fur with an adorable bear nose settled over her own.
Bouncing back from the explosion, she hits the ground and then lunges in for Maki again as the ninja is hopefully doubled over, shoving the Metro City hero's head between her thighs and hauling her up as she launches into the air, managing just barely to put a spin on her holiday homage to the greatest move in wrestling... THE SPINNING PILEDRIVER!

The ninja, being a ninja, is slightly faster even than Alexis is at recovering from the Canadian combatant's attack. Zombie-Lex is still dusting gravel from her backside when Maki comes grabbing for her neck. "Hey!" Despite her shout of protest and a brief struggle, Alexis is thrown to the street, landing on her back and head, arching the former and lifting the latter to rub both as she winces and groans in pain.
Luckily, Rainbear Mika's ready to rampage, giving Alexis an opening to get back on her feet. The brunette stares agape for a moment as Mika explodes out of her costume, looking all the more zombie-like for it, before muttering under her breath, "I don't think even I've gotten out of my clothes that fast before."
She doesn't intercede as Bare-Bear Mika makes her piledriver attempt - instead, she waits for the last moment before aiming to punctuate the assault with one of her own. Running forward as the hum around her starts to build again, she throws herself into the air, tucking her knees up to her chest as she attempts to follow up Rainbow's piledriver with a sonic-powered seated Senton.

Maki gets hit not once, but twice by her opponents. Or rather, one is successful in landing, but the other one is defended against, although Maki's wondering how she's managed to keep from turning into a real zombie that's been put down given how advanced her opponents are. Still, she's trying not to focus on how tough they are, since things could always be worse... like being forced to wear this makeup on a regular basis. Not only is it starting to feel bad, but it's smelling bad too. Talk about smelling real as well as looking real!
Maki looks between the two girls in costume before going after Alexis again. "You got me good there, but I'm still not through yet!" She twirls her tonfa a few more times. "Here, see how you like THIS!" She says, before stepping forwards quickly, while using the velocity of the motion to propel her tonfa forward and hopefully land a powerful strike.
Alright, this isn't going entirely as intended. That certainly didn't come out nearly as clean as Mika had intended (even after she'd gone to all the trouble of making such a dramatic reveal to her secondary, much less difficult to move in, costume). Perhaps what it all comes down to is the fact that Mika and Alexis aren't quite working as a team yet. In wrestling, you need to be ready to support your partner no matter what.
Clearly the best option right now is to expand the excitement of Rainbowmania to her teammate!
Before the crowd is even settled down from the explosive reveal, Mika begins to charge around the edge of the ring, shouting to the crowd as she goes with an unbearable amount of excitement. "C'mon, Rainbowmaniacs, I'm not out here alone! Let's here it for Alexis! LET'S GO ALEXIS, BITE BITE BITE!"
The cheering goes through almost immediately, especially once Mika gets the idea to clamp her hands in front of her face like a set full of spikey teeth. Nothing stops the Rainbowmania spirit!

As it turns out, Alexis doesn't particularly like being smacked with a length of wood. At least, not in this context. When she's struck by Maki tonfa in the midsection, the girl staggers backward, shouting something loud and obscene and mercifully drowned out by the chanting of the crowd.

The zombified punk rocker stumbles to a stop in her staggering, hands gingerly applied to her bruised midriff, eyes shifting to either side as the Rainbowmaniacs cheer. Bite, bite, bite? Is she being expected to get into character? She's not really much of a biter (at least not in this context). Whatever the logic may be, it's clearly a call to action, and as Alexis' eyes snap back to focus on Maki, there's a renewed determination in them.
"Alright, blondie! You and me!"
Which blonde she's referring to and in what context is made clear by the hand signal presented to Maki as she points a finger - not her index finger, and not actually at her opponent - even as her skin is already darkening visibly beneath the costume makeup where she's been hit.
The roar of the crowd fuels the Canadian fighter's energy, the sound gathering and building a hum around her as she lunges toward Maki, leaping into the air and scissoring her legs toward the ninja's stomach in an attempt to take her down to the street in a mounted position.
Should she succeed in getting Maki under her, she'll deliver a series of brutal punches, each sounding out a different note on the scale with the sonic energy backing them!

There are times where it feels like life is truly unfair. Especially when you've got a true two-on-one situation coming at you. With the bear... OK, Rainbow Mika in the bear outfit, helping out Alexis with her attack, it seems hopelessfor Maki. Especially since some of the zombie makeup is starting to come off a little, revealing the truth beneath it. But a true ninja knows to put things like that aside and focus on the fight at hand.
"If you're referring to me, then I'll have you know it's all natural," Maki says with a smirk in response to the name of 'blondie' being used. And yes, it's true, Maki is a natural blonde. No dye here, folks!
And scissoring Maki would be very painful, but Maki's not about to let that happen to her. She twists to the side and jumps back, meaning that Alexis had best recover quickly if she doesn't want to find herself in a disadvantageous position, since odds are landing like that might be painful, if not unusual looking.
If Alexis is at a disadvantage, Maki doesn't care. A fighter doesn't give their opponent a chance to recover. They go in with everything they've got. And that's exactly what Maki's doing as she ignores the makeup on her body and face and how it could blow off with this attack. She rushes forwards, then literally flies at Alexis with her leg outstretched!
Alright, so getting the crowd excited hasn't done anything but give a particularly exciting moment as Maki manages to bounce out of the way of Alexis's assault. Next best solution available under the circumstances? Just go right into it and give it everything you've got.
She's beared her heart, she's beared her spirit, and she's beared her body, now it's time to show Maki what these claws will do. Mika goes whole hog as she barrels down on the ninja, shouting just as she's within leaping distance. "There's no need to moan about your problems, sometimes you've just got to claw your way out!" And then Mika takes to the air, launching into a flying rake attack, hoping to make the best possible use of those claws...
...that aren't actually all that sharp given it's just a costume, but she's really putting her all into it.

The landing from her failed flying takedown is, indeed, less than comfortable and a little awkward as it's side-stepped, resulting in her ass landing on the hard pavement with little to cushion the blow. She grits her teeth at the impact, quickly scrambling up to one knee, unslinging her guitar as Maki comes flying at her. There's not enough time for Alexis to defend herself properly, so, instead, she turns her back into the flying kick, hissing through her teeth as it connects between her shoulders, nearly knocking her back down again.
By that point, though, she's at least got her Canadian-themed guitar by the neck and halfway into a backswing. Her attempt at retaliation is swift - in a single motion, she whirls around with the guitar, the force carrying her staggering up to her feet as she attempts to reply to Maki's blow by clobbering her with the flat side of the guitar's v-shaped body.
The speech accompanying the attack is just as eloquent and thought-out as the attack itself.

You can try hitting Maki with a punch, like Mika is attempting to do. Or you can try hitting her with a guitar, which is bad for the guitar but useful for whoever's trying to hit her. Unfortunately, if you're dealing with a swift ninja like Maki, then you have to make sure you're quick enough to hit her. Because the punch hits nothing but air, and the guitar hits the ground, meaning that Mika does some shadow boxing while Alexis does her best impression of Pete Townshend. Just who is Maki? Who? Who? Who? Who?
She's a swift ninja, obviously!
"That's not good for your guitar," Maki comments as she looks at Alexis. "Hopefully you can get it fixed or something, otherwise you won't be making much music with it much longer." She attempts to go in with a quick sideways strike of her tonfa.
This is getting bad, especially due to the fact that Alexis seems to be taking the brunt of the assault from Maki, leaving the enthusiastic Mika in a bit of a bind. You don't let your tag team partner soak up all of the abuse. Clearly this calls for a change in tactics.
"HEY!" belows the bearly dressed wrestler as she puts her pipes to good use, pointing dead on at Maki. "You might be sitting there trying to forget all about Rainbow Mika, but there's one thing that you need to remember... RAINBOWMANIA NEVER STOPS!"
That's a good method of painting a giant target.
Obviously not quite enough to completely satisfy Mika, because rather than just standing around, she goes flying right back into it. And flying would be the right word, because it's not just ninjas who can reach for the sky. She goes flying up into the air, aiming to snare her thighs around Maki's head as she wrenches about with all the force her body can manage, arms extended out to the side. The motion is designed to yank Maki up off the ground, pull a quick mid-air flip, and then bury the ninja's head in the pavement.

It seems that Alexis might as well be an actual member of the undead, for all the punishment that she's being submitted to. Once again too slow to get her guard up in the aftermath of her attack, she's struck across her left arm by Maki's tonfa, causing it to swing away and relinquish its grip on her instrument, leaving it held only by the right hand. She lets out a growl, glaring at the ninja as she takes a step back.
"Don't worry. This motherf***er is tougher than you think!" she shouts as she hefts the instrument, throwing the sling over her neck in the same motion, apparently intent on demonstrating her assertion. Feedback fills the air as she flips the switch to turn the wireless instrument's power on, and her fingers fly over the frets in a frenzy that some might find familiar as a hit from the Foo Fighters, albeit uptempo. Specifically, it's the guitar solo from 'Learn to Fly,' serving as accompaniment to Rainbow Mika's aerial assault - which is all that it is, really. She doesn't have the 'juice' to be weaponizing her melody just now - it's more to play to the crowd and, perhaps, create a distraction from the real threat.

They're playing Rainbow Mika's song right now, and that would definitely serve as motivation to Rainbow Mika. Not to mention that Mika really seems intent on challenging Maki to fight harder. And that's exactly what Maki's going to do. She's going to fight even harder and hit with more power than before! Because even if the odds are stacked against her, no one ever said being a ninja was easy. Especially with the makeup starting to come off even more. So Maki's decided she's holding nothing back this time, and launches into a serious flurry of attacks!
Each strike and kick is carefully choreographed to hit carefully, but Maki doesn't fully complete the attack since Mika hits her at the same time. The attacks do land somewhat, but Maki is hit too. Nevertheless, it shows that Maki is truly a force to be reckoned with!
Each hit strikes true, slamming Mika out of the air, leaving her battered, bruised, but (thankfully for the censors) no more bare. As the bear has decreased, her bare has increased noticably.
Regardless of matters of decency, Mika has been brought down to her knees following that violent series of hits. With a retaliation like that, it wouldn't be all that surprising for someone to stay down... but Rainbow Mika isn't just anyone. Despite the presence of some non-makeup blood running down her chin, she gets back up with a grin on her face. "If you want to take down a bear like me, you're going to need a lot more than that. Right now, I'd give you the rating of... 1/10 of Zangief!"
...That might actually be praise coming from someone like Mika.
"But I guess it's time I give it everything I've got if I want to do this right, so here... we... goooooooo!" As her voice once more rings through the city streets, Rainbow Mika lunges forward with a pounce more like that of a puma than a grizzly, aiming to snare Maki by the shoulders and lock her in place... just as Mika flies into a blitz of violent headbutts. Blow after dizzing blow intending to leave Maki helpless as Mika twists it all around, catching her arm around Maki's neck, bending the ninja over as the wild wrestler leaps forward, planting the whole weight of her dropping body right on the back of Maki's neck.
The impromptu musical track provided by the currently-cadaverous Canadian may have done little to turn the tides of the battle, but the ghoulish girl guitarist isn't done with her song yet. Shifting gears, keys, and tempo as Mika shouts the word 'Go', Alexis starts to hit a rapid strumming rhythm, playing palm-muted power chords in Drop D tuning along the bass strings of her guitar.
No longer is she just playing for show - the deep, distorted chords filling the air become louder and louder as Alexis's brow creases in concentration. Anyone sensitive to the fluctuations of chi would be able to recognize that beyond building up the decibel level of the noise around her, the Canadian rocker is also gathering a head of steam - or more technically, sonic chi - and likely to soon unleash it, should she be left unchecked!

How do you defend yourself against a grappling attack like that? Simple, you plant yourself firmly into the ground, and try to knock your opponent off of you. Unfortunately, Mika manages to get a firm hold at first, and Maki is forced to endure a little of this before she is able to get Mika off of her, and she scowls a little at that. "Getting personal, are you? Well, I'm afraid I find that a bit un-bear-able!" She smirks a little at the bad pun, but the scowl returns. "Nevertheless, I'm afraid we're going to have to finish this one way or another!"
Without waiting for a response from her opponent, Maki drops down and begins to spin around on the ground again, using her momentum to spin like a miniature whirlwind and hopefully give herself some space away from Mika!

Spinning is supposed to stop Rainbow Mika? Her idol is Zangief, the Red Cyclone! In the world of spinning, there is no greater height to be achieved than the powerful, graceful spins of Zangief!
More importantly, for spinning to be effective you need at least one of two things: either your opponent must be worried about getting close enough to take a hit or you have to be able to supply enough force that you can knock your opponent off balance when you do hit them.
What actually ends up happening is that Rainbow Mika, feeling the excitement of the crowd radiating across the battlefield, simply steps forward. As Maki spins, she takes a clean hit on Mika, but the wrestler is as steady as a tree, grinning as she lunges forward to snare the ninja in her grip.
"When it comes to wrestling bears... you're still an amateur!" she bellows as she hauls Maki up across her shoulders, wrenching down on either end of the ninja as she seems intent on testing just what it might take to make Maki break in half. Then, with a momentary flourish, she flips Maki off, slamming her down onto the street before she starts to run off. For a moment it makes no real sense, but then Mika hops up onto a trash can, then leaps up to the top of one of the lamp posts, grinning from her aerial view.
"I'M BRINGING IT ALL TO BEAR THIS TIME!" she roars as she launches into the air and comes crashing down at the prone ninja ass first.
Following in the wake of Mika's attack, Alexis chimes in with a note of her own - or, more accurately, thunders in with a chord of her own. Leaping up off of the street as Mika plummets toward Maki, her guitar still unslung, the guitarist aims to land next to the zombie-costumed ninja, unleashing the pent-up musical energy in a blasting sonic burst as she hits the final chord in her crescendo a matter of moments after Mika should be landing.

In fact, the ninja zombie is starting to look more like just that as she lies flat on the ground. It looks like that this battle might be over... until Maki slowly forces herself up, and glares at Mika one last time, her one good eye blinking a little while the bad eye appears to be swollen shut from that last attack.
With a swift burst of energy, Maki attempts to launch a swift flying kick at Mika, before most likely falling flat on the ground.

And when Maki connects with Mika, the ninja literally backflips back onto her feet, the energy surging through her almost like she's found a bit of extra power to keep herself going just a little longer! "I'm not a typical zombie!" She comments with a slight smirk, although she's having trouble breathing too it seems.
Alright, that hurt. Flying kicks are a lot more effective than spinning. The two main methods of avoiding flying kicks involve either getting out of the way or catching your opponent. Mika makes the mistake of attempting a third option, which is roll out of it. She falls back as the kick hits, but when she touches the ground she finds herself feeling more plastered than roll-y.
With a lot more effort this time, Rainbow Mika pushes back to her feet. There's not really enough in her right now to offer any big speech. No, instead she simply goes surging forward with the last bit of drive she's got left. The moment she's within arm's reach of the ninja, she plants her boots and pivots, swinging around for a quick hit from the back of her fist in an effort to ring Maki's bell. With the ninja hopefully dazed, she plants her feet and then rockets back, putting every last bit of energy into a final peach shot, aimed right at Maki's gut.
And then that's all she wrote.

Another attack foiled by the lightning reflexes of the zombie ninja has Alexis frustrated. Whirling the guitar back around to rest over her shoulder, she pants for breath. The fight's starting to become a blur - both Maki and Mika are practically doing circles around the Canadian at this point. There's a moment's hope for respite when Mika manages to land her attack on Maki, but like some kind of... well... you know, the ninja just keeps coming. And after that last kick, the fight looks like it's starting to become more than Mika can bear.
Rainbow's re-butt-al gives Alexis a moment to gather her senses through the ringing in her ears and the aching in her everywhere. The girl's aquamarine eyes sharpen - Mika may be able to assure Maki's mutual destruction, but if not, the Canadian fighter is prepared for the worst, dropping back into a slightly stooped variant of her usual street fighting stance.

Maki comments as she twirls her tonfa once again. "I think it's time we put an end to this once and for all!" She clutches her tonfa a bit tighter than usual, glaring at Alexis. "You've been a pretty tough zombie, you know that? So I think it's time I showed you how tough I can be too!"
Maki steps towards Alexis, then takes another step forward, using the momentum to swing her tonfa at her hard.

Alexis is ready as Maki steps in - or at least, she thinks she is. She'll lean forward, get inside the ninja's reach, deaden the blow of the tonfa against her side or stomach, then grab Maki by the shoulders to set her up for an Alexis Lovell signature special. At least, that's how it plays out in her head. In actuality, she misjudges the timing, and instead of leaning past Maki's tonfa strike, she leans /into/ it - taking the tonfa straight to the eye, sending her sprawling backward to the ground.
Once again, the moral guardians at home can be grateful for the work of the censors, but even through the hands cupped over her face, the audience in attendance can easily hear the blistering expletives the brash Canadian is wasting her breath on.
As the rant trails off, there's a moment where it looks like Alexis might not be getting back up - but then, with undead determination, she pushes herself up on one knee, then back fully to her feet. The nasty cut near her eye is no stage makeup, nor is the blood now running down her face fake, but, almost drunkenly, Alexis raises her fists once more, wobbling unsteadily on her feet. "Come... at... me," she rasps weakly at Maki.
Maki can't believe it. She hit her opponent hard, yet she's still standing? This cannot be allowed to go on for much longer. Maki shakes her head, starting to feel her strength going down steadily again as she attempts to take off running again. "Come at you?" Maki stammers, a little weakly herself. "If you want..."
Maki's run is a bit unsteady and out of it, her energy burst starting to wear off as she takes off into the air again. This time, she attempts a somersault in midair, and then attempts to grab Alexis. If successful, Maki will do a one-eighty and then slam Alexis into the ground from the air.

Alexis is too unsteady on her feet to completely avoid the aerial throw, but she's at least still got the instinct learned from countless failed stage dives to be able to take the fall, tucking and rolling with the momentum. Tumbling back to her feet, she carries through the motion in a dizzying spin, pulling her guitar from her shoulder by the neck in the process as she puts all of her remaining energy into one more heavy, over-hand chop of her 'axe.' Whether the guitar strikes true or strikes pavement, a shockwave of sonic energy will be released, along with the expected cacophonous crash.

Maki doesn't need to be hit by that to know that it's gonna hurt. She ducks down and attempts to roll, but finds her body too weak to do that, so she simply shuffles out of the way. At the same time, she reaches out her left foot in an attempt to trip up Alexis and take her down. She knows the both of them are getting as tired as zombies could be, and one of them has to fall.

As she's trying to lug her guitar back up off of the ground after smashing the instrument against it, Alexis is caught off-guard by Maki's attempt to trip her up and ends up collapsing face-first to the ground. For a moment, it looks like the teen won't be able to move as a dying ring hangs in the air. She finally manages, at least, to pull herself up to her sock-clad knees. Her guitar roars to life in her hands one last time, as if from beyond the grave, as she half-croaks, half-sings out:
"I'm damned if I voodoo and damned if I don't. Kick the crypt, and baby, walk with me!"
The combination of her vocals and guitar sweep in wild, rippling waves at Maki, the energy becoming a forceful torrent of energy, before Alexis slumps forward again...

Maki thinks she can take it, she can get out of the way... but her timing is still just a wee bit off. She finds herself getting grazed by the attack, but it's not as bad as she thought it would be. Then she watches as Alexis drops to the ground, and Maki realizes she's the winner. She would raise her hand in victory, but it doesn't feel like a victory to her. Despite having beaten two opponents in one fight, Maki doesn't feel like a winner... namely because of all the makeup that's coming off of her face.
