Description: In an attempt to return Saturday Night Fights to hearts and minds of fight fans while Killer Instinct is in full swing Lita Luwanda and Alice Nakata are brought to Crete to fight where Theseus was once said to have slayed the minotaur. The ravages of time made the labyrinth less imposing but more treacherous for the unwary.(Winner:Alice Nakata)

With Killer Instinct in full swing, it was hard for the PFW get attention and so they knew they had to do some major to get in on some of that fighting action again. They sent out invites to fighters that either competed in the past or made major marks on the fighting game recently.
Lieutenant Lita Luwanda, one of the invitees, had been busy which was the reason behind the radio silence and lack of appearances in fighting. Fighting for Queen and Country requires a sacrifice of time that would be spent competing. She was free and so her commanders figured she should answer that invite and see what they throw at her to test her skills.
Next thing Lita knows, she's in Crete, located at the Ruins of Knossos where according to legend, Theseus slew the minotaur. The low walled labyrinth is surrounded by tall walls of plexiglass erected to keep stray bursts of energy and in Lita's case in particular, stray thrown weaponry from harming the camera crew and audience.
Lita, for her part stands at one of the corners with the polypropolene replica of her sword secured to her back and awaits the signal to begin from the officials.
It's true: just like SNF staff guessed, Alice Nakata does not know what an oubliette is.
Then again, she doesn't really need to know. She's not a history buff (history is for nerds). This trip was still worth it, though: she got a day on the Mediterranean. Heraklion is, after all, right next door, and Heraklion has beaches. /And/ she gets a fight out of it. She hasn't had enough of those lately. She's going to get rusty!
Well, beach day was yesterday, and Alice got to wake herself up at frickin' dawn for the match. Actually before dawn; the lighting isn't great, as Alice isn't really used to being outside anywhere at this time of day that doesn't have streetlights. The camera lights don't really replace them very well, being rather directional rather than good overhead lighting.
Dawn or not, Alice is dressed to fight, her style. This means she's wearing a denim skirt along with a bikini, sneakers, a rather distinctive hat... the leg warmers bring a touch of American to the whole thing. Well, more than she does anyway.
She was yawning when she got here, but a quick stretch out using one of the low walls as a lift worked the last bit of sleepiness out of her. It doesn't take her very long before she's all the way awake, and she vaults over one of the guardrails, striding down what might have been a hallway once toward Lita.
"He~y," she calls, giving a cheerful two-fingered salute toward Lita. Somebody's in a good mood. "You ready?"
Lita's lips curl into a smile that is just short of smirk as she nods and eases herself into stance. True to previous form, she doesn't go for her big sword right away. Instead, she brings up her fists in a guard that looks more like it was taught from a military combative than anything else.
"I'm certainly ready. Are you?"
She takes a deep breath and glances at the official responsible for starting the fight out of the corner of her eye. The signal is given and she leaps forward as she attempts to grab Alice's lead hand and pull her downward and face first towards the ground with an armbar takedown and then wrenching it to add little extra pain.
COMBATSYS: Alice Nakata parries Lita's Close Quarters Catch!!

Lita 0/-------/-------|===----\-------\0 Alice Nakata
"Always!" Alice says, with a slight grin. She doesn't really smirk, but she's definitely amused.
It's easy to think that Alice is a clueless fighter. She tends to come off as a little air-headed, and with the way she dresses and acts it's not uncommon that people don't think she's taking anything seriously. She's playing. And maybe she /is/ playing; she's certainly enjoying herself.
But she absolutely does know how to fight. She was a taekwando prodigy as a youngster and has been working since on her unusual hybrid style more recently. It's easy to underestimate her - but dangerous to do so.
Still grinning, Alice shifts so that Lita isn't grabbing where she wants to, but further up Alice's arm - and she has leverage there. She pushes back against being thrown, digging her feet in and trying to shove Lita off-balance before swinging /herself/ down and forward. "Going up!" she calls, planting her hands on the ground and driving herself upward in a spinning two-footed kick.
Hey, that looks an awful lot like Terry's Rising Tackle, doesn't it?
(yes, it does)
COMBATSYS: Alice Nakata successfully hit Lita with Rising Drill EX.

Lita 0/-------/----===|===----\-------\0 Alice Nakata
Lita was familiar with the idea of people shifting so that get in a position of leverage. It's one of the things she utilizes on a regular basis when she's not wielding the sword or some other weapon (but especially the sword). She knows that she should probably just release since the grab isn't going to go anywhere and so she releases and goes with the shove adjusting her stance and she goes to cover up like a boxer. It should be a textbook guard but for some reason and if anyone were to ask Lita that foot got through, she would not be able to explain it.
Where the shove only required subtle adjustments to her stance, the rising kick plows into her sending stumbling backwards before she ends up falling down on her back. She kips up launching herself back to her feet before the British blonde rubs her jaw and then she comes in with a pair of lead jabs to the face before following up with a spinning back fist and then a shoulder charge to knock the former TKD prodigy off of her feet.
COMBATSYS: Alice Nakata blocks Lita's Random Combo.

The answer is because bullshit. Alice is good at bullshit.
Alice flips once she's reached the apex of her jump and manages to land on her feet, which unfortunately gives Lita an opportunity to push her back off them. Her first instinct is to get out of the way, but she's hampered by the low walls to either side; her usual cartwheeling trick isn't going to work here.
So Alice aborts that, blocking the backfist with her own hand and letting it push her backwards. Her feet kick up dust as she resists the shoulder charge, getting in awfully close to Lita by the other woman's attempt to push her over. "Come on!"
Alice's foot snakes forward, lacing between Lita's. She tries to trip the other woman while she's still being pushed backwards, ending with Alice on her back and Lita above her; if she manages to tumble, she uses her other foot to kick Lita up and past her, sending her flying at a low wall while Alice stands up the more normal way.
If it doesn't work, of course, she's going to feel a little silly.
COMBATSYS: Alice Nakata successfully hit Lita with Tumble Kick.

Lita 0/-------/--=====|======-\-------\0 Alice Nakata
It's one of those moments where Lita recognizes what's going to happen but in spite of it, not being able to do a thing about it. In Lita's ideal world, she would've stepped around that foot trying to lace between her legs and step back allowing her to avoid getting tangled up and as a result. What happens in the real world is Alice ends up getting her way, tripping her up and then sending her flying into the barricade with a loud crash.
She slowly rises to her feet and tries to shake it off before returning to her stance. She takes a moment to observe, crack her own neck and attempt to get her mind right before she comes in with a spinning side kick to stomach and then if she can manage that, attempting to slip around her back to perform a rear naked choke.

Lita 0/-------/=======|=======\-------\1 Alice Nakata
Alice Nakata rises a moment later, turning to face Lita. That grin hasn't gone anywhere, and it's almost more mocking than a smirk would be at this point.
"Wanna keep trying?" she asks, hopping up onto a wall herself. She's going to vault over it and make Lita chase her, but she can't help but open her mouth first, and that's a problem.
The side kick hits her low because she was up on the low guard wall. It doesn't hit her stomach but her thigh; this means it doesn't knock the air out of her but it does cause her to stumble off the wall, taking a little hop down. Lita manages the perfect choke when she does that, but Alice reacts, a little whirling kick as she drops; it's not enough to stop the choke (though the fact that she keeps kicking backwards probably doesn't hurt) but it is enough to cause some injury.
That smirk. That mocking smirk on Alice's face irritates the Delta Red soldier but nothing irks her more than the question 'Do you want to keep trying?' She has been in situations where giving up meant /death./ She was raised to have to have a strong work ethic. She got to where she was by bleeding on the field of war and in various dojos, sweating through military PT and through her own heavy workout regimes, the private tears of disappointment from her failures which built her into the woman she is today.
The kicks backward eventually forces her to release the choke and so she stumbles backward and pulls out five kunai and bolstered by rage she takes aim flings the metal throwing weapons right at Alice Nakata.
With a roar of angry defiance she shouts, "I'll stop trying when I'm no longer conscious!"

Lita 1/-------/=======|=======\====---\1 Alice Nakata
Alice isn't smirking, she's grinning! Slightly different. (Same net result, though.)
The grin fades pretty quickly when she realizes how mad she's made Lita. She was trying to needle her, to get under her skin a little bit, but fury was not exactly what she was going for. "Come on, you don't have to take it that serious! Have a little fun - ack!"
Knives go everywhere. Alice tries to dodge the knives by hopping backwards, trying to clear the wall she'd just dropped down from, but she doesn't make it by about an inch; catching her heel on the edge of the wall in the dark, Alice does in fact pitch over it but she lands badly, with a painful thump, as knives clatter down around her. Some of them hit.
"Ow ow ow!" Alice is not armoured. She's barely even clothed. It's not a terribly bloody experience (like most fighters, she's pretty resilient, and most kunai aren't particularly sharp anyway) but it stings, and she didn't exactly protect herself well from it.
A few moments later, Alice launches herself back over the wall, getting both her hands on it while she vaults to make /sure/ she makes it over. This gives her enough height to perform a butterfly kick, swinging both legs through the air at Lita in an expression of aerial acrobatics. A moment later, she lands and whirls through another kick, this one a standing roundhouse - she's just not letting up.

Lita 1/----===/=======|>>>>>>>\>>>>>>>\2 Alice Nakata
Anyone who has done some scouting on Lita(as opposed to her undercover persona Stacy Jones) knows that while her sword doesn't come out right away, she can be brutally effective with it. Now that she's recently replaced it with polypropolene weapon, with a core put into it to duplicate the weight and balance of her actual sword as closely as possible, she's less hesitant about using it since she doesn't have to worry as much about greviously injuring people on live TV with it.
She senses an opportunity as Alice Nakata takes to the air with the acrobatic kick. The hand that wasn't occupied with throwing the kunai reaches for the handle of her sword while the other moves for the quick release latch on her sword sheathe. She charges in shoulder first just when that leg lifts up to connect across the British soldier's back. Alice's kick connects but it's not quite a clean connection. Lita's too close and the shoulder shove is too hard for her to get a satisfying impact. That shoulder shove sets Alice up for Lita to swing the huge sword like a cricket bat right across the torso.
Whenever you take to the air like Alice did, you run a risk. You leave yourself open in a way that staying on the ground doesn't. That's why a lot of skilled martial artists say you should avoid it a lot of the time; going uncontrolled is dangerous.
Alice thinks: screw that. She's going to do this well, and she's going to do this with /style/.
Alice has more air control than it looks like she does. She recovers, getting a foot on the ground and rotating on it... but not fast enough. The sword smashes into Alice's ribs, picking her right back off the ground and sending her flying about ten feet, where she hits one of the small walls with her lower legs. This sends her in an uncontrolled tumble even further.
She fails to get up for a moment, or more accurately stays out of sight when she moves, using the poor pre-dawn lighting and the obstacles to keep out of Lita's line of vision. That one hurt... a lot. But she's not done yet any more than Lita is...
Alice vaults a short wall to Lita's side. 'Vaults' is kind of a minor word for it given she jumped about five feet up. She puts her entire body into an overhead kick, flipping through an entire revolution as she drives her heel directly down at Lita... and more than just her heel, because red-white chi dances along her foot and in fact her entire leg. It is messing up the camera's light because it's the brightest thing on the battlefield.
"COMING THROUGH!" she bellows, as she impacts - either Lita or the ground. The chi explodes into an enormous pillar, either down (if she hits high on Lita) or up (if she hits the ground or something reasonably low. "Keep up with THIS!"
COMBATSYS: Alice Nakata successfully hit Lita with Skysplitter Kick.

Lita 1/=======/=======|>>>>---\-------\0 Alice Nakata
As Alice takes off for an overhead kick she knows what's coming is going to be powerful and if she can't stop it, it's going to hurt a lot. She takes what little time she has to spread her feet to go into a horse stance as she brings her sword above her head to stop the impact. Too much force is put into it and too much chi driving down into her body. The heel crashes down impacting her head and to add insult to injury she gets her own sword smashed into her head as well and is released from her grip clattering to the ground.
Lita's on the ground for a few moments before she wobbily gets back to her feet with a pained groan coming from her lips. She stumbles to the side somewhat punch drunkenly before she shakes it off. Her voice is low as she repeats what she said before. "I'll stop trying when I'm no longer conscious."
She then bodily launches herself right for Alice to perform a double leg takedown, if she manages that, she'll slip inside her guard and then straddle her so she may proceed to rain mighty hammerfists down upon her. No matter what happens, Lita will roll over as unconsciousness takes over.
COMBATSYS: Lita can no longer fight.

Alice Nakata 0/-------/<<<<<<<|
The explosion of chi that happens after Alice lands her kick is enough to cause a bright, flashy distraction - exactly the sort of thing Alice likes posing with. The geyser of chi dazzles her eyes and probably the cameras.
This time, she doesn't get to pose. She's too busy trying to avoid Lita.
Alice springs backwards. That alone isn't enough to get her out of Lita's reach; she has to keep moving, planting one foot on a half-finished wall (she thinks this one has a bigger drop behind it because it goes down into the 'labyrinth', better watch out) and stepping up, then launching herself forward.
She goes over Lita's head as she's launched, landing on the reasonably flat spot behind her without hitting anything that makes her fall. Alice takes a hopping step to make sure she's still steady, spins - but Lita is down. Alice keeps her eyes on her for a moment, just in case.
Then she blows a kiss at the camera, as she's been known to do when she wins - two fingers to her lips, then a wave towards it, fingertips up. She's breathing hard, sore - and thoroughly enjoying herself. What a rush! Why did she ever /stop/?
