SNF 2015.05 - PFW: Road to the Championship

Description: In the CHALLENGER SERIES, battles are fast and furious in THE DOME. But nothing's more important to the challenger series than the challenge! Right now, the devillish wrestler Aracely is facing off against the street princess pugilist Tabitha in a brutal exhibition qualifier for the Western Circuit Belt for PFW's CIRCUIT OF CHAMPIONS! These two have tried settling their score in the League before, but the stakes have doubled! The only rules to this bout are be fast and be intense, because the winner just might get a crack at being the champ! Are you ready to the the toughest Rookie in the West? (The answer was yes. For both of them.)

Welcome to PLEXIDEATH!!

Aracely Maria de la Azules has taken a couple of long weeks of rest and recuperation after a poor showing in the squared circle. Mano 666 is nowhere near losing hope - Aracely is his top prospect but even she has a lot of refinement to do. Clinics, practice sessions, deadlifting giant bags full of masa flour - it's been comforting to get back to basics.

And now, of course, she's facing Tabitha again.

It is bright and sunny out in Malibu and they can do nothing about that. This means that Aracely is not bringing the full Moonchild paint today - it would probably drip off of her anyway. Instead she is wearing her vest with the hot-rodder demon girls on the back as she runs down the ramp into the arena proper. She raises her hands in the air as she goes, because -

She is doing a handstand on the ground in front of the ring? No, it's a somersault, and for a moment she wonders if she's about to break her neck on the ring apron, but BY GOD she hooks her legs underneath the middle rope and hoists herself upright, grasping on by one hand and stretching out the other, eyes rolling back to show only the whites as she gesticulates to the onlookers!

After this, she slithers in, wiping her forehead with her wrist, helpfully covered in a red wristband.

Sometimes, sun happens. There's a reason Tabitha has switched back to shorts and a sleeveless shirt.

Tabitha is already in the ring by the time Aracely makes her entrance, because she doesn't come from a wrestling background and doesn't feel the need to show off doing it. She is in her corner, shadowboxing once or twice before Aracely arrives, then leaning back into the corner as Aracely shows off - she's not going to take the posing away from her. It seems rude.

She was a little unsure about doing this while Metro City suffered, but it appears to be back, now... and she can't do much to help directly. Maybe if she can bring a belt back, at least she'll make some people happy.

Tabitha inclines her head, just slightly, to Aracely. Back for more - well, she's not going to complain. Keep trying until you win! She'd offer a hand but it would probably wreck her image.

Aracely - the Moonchild - rolls her shoulders and stretches a little, pausing to sweep up one arm and give another white-eyed grimace to the crowd as the announcer declares weight, origins, height, vital statistics, etc.

After this she leans back in her corner of the ring, although she gives Tabitha a look that is so ridiculously faux-menacing that the slight tic on her right eye is probably a wink.

Then she gets up and moves towards the center of the ring as the bell... uh... rings. "Hope your town's okay," she says, managing to say it in a normal tone while mugging as if she just said 'Satan is dating your mother.'

Tabitha is apparently 5'4 and weighs 'Featherweight Class', according to the announcer. Apparently she didn't want to give her actual number - though why she bothered when that's about a six-pound band is really a good question. It's not like it makes it hard to guess.

Tabitha doesn't play to the crowd the same way as Aracely. She tends to be pretty no-nonsense about the whole thing; she fights seriously, to showcase her skill and talent and practice. Her eyebrows shoot up slightly when Aracely's words say one thing but her body posture says something completely different.

Her response is so quiet that probably nobody hears it but Aracely. "Doing better," she says, with a slightly thankful nod. Of course, the bell gives her other things to focus on.

Tabitha apparently decides to strike out almost immediately. She ducks down after the bell, gathering her strength low before springing upwards, trying to deliver a mighty uppercut at Aracely's chin! And it is a powerful blow, though telegraphed, probably better suited for later in a fight than the beginning.

Is she trying for a quick, surprise victory? Or does she just want to show off her strength?

COMBATSYS: Tabitha successfully hits Aracely with Bound Upper.

Aracely braces herself and reaches up to block at Tabitha's high speed uppercut with her arm but unfortunately for her, she was expecting a feinting, testing blow instead of full bore commitment to Sparkle Motion. The blow hits her in the jaw and she can feel the impact rattling through her sinuses, her teeth coming together with a loud skeletal snap as she topples backwards onto the ring ropes where she came.

For a moment, Tabitha can probably taste victory.

Aracely on the other hand tastes blood. She rolls backwards - and then lurches forwards, exhaling with emphatic force. She pushes off the turnbuckle then, saying in a low rumble, "So that's your best, huh?"

Aracely pulls herself up. Twice. Three times. She's undulating her way up the turnbuckle, reaching the top rope and standing on it with ease despite some blood oozing from her lip. She steps over - feinting to the left despite this requiring standing on the rope directly - faking out a leap before she steps forwards, gets a foot on the turnbuckle, and HURLS herself up into the air, in a twisting loop!

Which would perhaps be more devastating if she wasn't putting so much work into not just presenting Tabitha with a tempting target for another upper cut.

That was a /good/ punch. Tabitha feels it as soon as she's delivered it, following through properly and actually leaving the ground for an instant before landing on her feet, hands held up in a more defensive position. She doesn't expect it will immediately put Aracely down even if she wouldn't object if it did.

"It's a good start," Tabitha replies, as Aracely worms her way up to the turnbuckle. This is something Tabitha isn't as familiar with - to her the ropes are barriers when she has them, things to lean on, not things to climb up. She falls for the feint, than corrects almost too far as Aracely throws herself in a twisting loop!

Tabitha is less good at dealing with wrestling. Aracely plows into her, and she doesn't keep her feet; she goes down with the wrestler. When downed, Tabitha attacks in the best way she knows how; she wraps one arm around Aracely and levels a couple punches with the other hand before releasing her after the roll, trying to scramble away long enough to get up. She seems a little taken for a loop by the experience, but she's still moving reasonably well - and if Aracely tries the same thing again, this time she's prepared.

COMBATSYS: Tabitha successfully hits Aracely with Violent Clinching.

Wrapped around and kept on the mat, Aracely learns that she has trouble avoiding getting hit in the face despite an industrious roll. This would be a great time to pinfall her, she thinks, but unfortunately there is no pinfalling involved.

Also, she's getting punched in the head! Mostly the head.

Tabitha tries to pull away and the Moonchild rolls after her, in fact she rolls /faster/ than her, tossing herself up to straddle Tabitha from behind. (That'll be on the replay reel!) But this isn't in order to do anything unsavory in this case, it's so that she can hook her knees up into Tabitha's armpits.

Shoving forwards, her hands come up to lace underneath Tabitha's chin. And if she doesn't move fast - she's going to get her back stretched involuntarily and hard. In the footsteps of the Sheik -- comes the CLUTCHES OF SATAN!

COMBATSYS: Aracely successfully hits Tabitha with The Clutches of Satan.

Tabitha          0/-------/-======|=======\-------\1          Aracely

Being grappled is an unpleasant experience at the best of times for Tabitha. She is not used to being straddled like that and she certainly isn't expecting what comes next - the wrenching as Aracely gets her hands under Tabitha's chin, stretching backwards.

For all Tabitha's inexperience with holds like this, stretching Tabitha's back is an effort. There's muscle under there; she's used to getting smashed and battered across her arms all day and blocking pretty much anything people can throw at her. It's not a pleasant experience for Tabitha, but she manages to at least partially resist, holding on as she lets out a grunt into Aracely's laced hands.

She inches her way forward, having a vague idea of what a rope break is - but, as it turns out, she never quite gets there. Managing to lever herself up towards her side, Tabitha manages to escape the hold by landing on her side, breaking Aracely's position on her back and letting her roll away from the other woman.

This time Tabitha gets up before she gets grappled again. She's breathing harder now - Aracely is definitely making her work even if it looked at first like she might get a fast lead. Tabitha makes a 'come here' gesture with one hand, her other arm held in a defensive position.

She keeps the left hand blocking even when she attempts a quick punch - a little more than a jab, but a reasonably fast strike to keep Aracely honest and not give her unlimited time to maneuver. Tabitha still expects to be attacked - it's almost like she wants it.

COMBATSYS: Tabitha successfully hits Aracely with Guard Knuckle.

So much muscle! It's like she's stretching an entire cow! Aracely thinks as she strains. But then she inches forwards, even as Aracely struggles to restrain her. Her superior size avails her not, because if she pushed back she'd break the hold and probably get punched in the private body parts! (And you can't teach that.)

The Moonchild loses her grasp on her victim before she can be properly SPINALLY STRESSED FOR SATAN, pushing backwards to avoid the aforementioned groin shot risk and squaring off against the shorter woman. Stepping in, she gets another pop in the shoulder, at which point she grins with sudden bloody enthusiasm. It does not look feigned - though, of course, Aracely's attempt at a 'gotcha' face comes off way more brutally intense thanks to the blood in her mouth.

Aracely raises her own fists then. She jabs the air, before suddenly committing hugely and swiftly to a lunging thrust punch at Tabitha's jaw.

It would hurt. If it hit.

It's not supposed to hit. As she lunges forwards, the Moonchild's fists unfold. Her goal is to land in a handstand, shove back, and issue a brutal dropkick -- except it's not a dropkick, it's a scissor lock to grab her head and then --

COMBATSYS: Tabitha blocks Aracely's Huracanarana.

-- try to twist her down from the head down!

Tabitha destroys people who call her a cow. Fortunately, Aracely had the presence of mind to not say it out loud. She probably would not go for a groin shot - most of Tabitha's hits are well above the belt, with the exception of when she decides someone's shins have to die so she can trip them (and this only happens in street fighting, not boxing).

Tabitha grins back. Her lip is not split, but she has what is probably going to be a bruise from where the heel of Aracely's hand dug into the side of her jaw during the brief lock, and she has several others - just under her clothes, where they're a little less than obvious.

She knows how to deal with a punch, and moves to block it. Tabitha realizes at the last moment that it's not going to be a punch, that it's going to be a grab. Aracely goes up, over, around - but Tabitha was braced for it, and remains on her feet, despite the sudden impact to her neck.

Rolling her neck to work out the kinks, Tabitha also rolls one arm before holding it back, fist raised. This gives Aracely sufficient time to get up, because Tabitha doesn't like going after downed targets with this (though she will if she has to). Her entire body tenses, straining at nothing.

And then, suddenly, she explodes into violence.

Tabitha delivers one punch, letting out a loud yell as she does. One punch is all it needs with her stored power; the impact is like a jackhammer, sufficient to crack stone (or the heads of lesser fighters). If she manages to land it, on that impact there is a shockwave of air from the sheer speed and force Tabitha puts behind the crushing blow!

Tabitha's body tenses as Aracely leaps back to her feet. She raises up her arms to cross-block the incoming punch and is shocked, visibly, when it's more than a big crushing line driver she could crumple her forearms up a bit to dissipate. The bursting shockwave of air slams her back hard enough to hit the ropes with her feet clear of the mat, and then rebound through the air towards the far side of the ring!

She somersaults in midair at least, which both kills a little of the momentum and means that she's able to grasp onto the top rope as she goes shooting outwards. She hangs on tight, and feels her gut smack into the ring ropes. She rebounds then, pulling herself upwards to that top rope, spreading out her legs...

And straightening up. Her hands come up to claw at the sky.

"Ground, air, even propelling force... you've got a lot in those fists of yours. So why don't you come on, huh!?"

The Moonchild slaps her upper shoulder. "See if you can get over here before I jump you?! C'mon, it'll be FUN!" She lets out a ringing cackle that was, in fact, something she practiced for two days.

COMBATSYS: Aracely gains composure.

Tabitha          1/------=/=======|==-----\-------\0          Aracely

Tabitha rolls her shoulder after that one. It's a strain on her, too... though, admittedly, probably not as much as whoever she hits with it.

"It's important to pace yourself," Tabitha says, "but it's just as important to know when to hit as hard as you can." She's still kind of grinning; she feels she has the advantage now. Maybe she does.

Aracely practically invites Tabitha over. Tabitha does approach - but not at her top speed. She goes quickly but not recklessly, keeping on watch for a sudden attack by Aracely - she expects rope trickery, or maybe some kind of counterattack grab.

It's for that reason that Tabitha keeps her offense paced and steady - that and she wants a moment to catch her breath. She jabs, a strike toward Aracely's face, but she doesn't really expect that to hit (she won't object if it does, though); more of her force is behind the hook punch she delivers with her right hand, aimed at Aracely's midsection to knock the wind out of her once again!

Tabitha may have expected some counterstrike nonsense or a vault forwards into her punch, but what she gets instead once she's committed to the motion is NO OPPONENT WHATSOEVER.

Aracely leaps up. This is done for two reasons.

1. Not getting punched
2. So that she can rise upwards with Satanic speed and force - helped, of course, by the inherent springiness of the rope - to reach up and flatten her left palm up against the roof of the Plexidome.

She flexes her ring and middle finger as she does it. There's a handprint down there now. Up there, that is to say.

And then she descends, legs and thigh-backs in particular first, towards Tabitha. Hopefully, this is not a brutal uppercut situation.

Oh, Tabitha remembers. She's one of the /jumpers/.

Tabitha doesn't jump like that. She can get height, but nowhere near enough to follow Aracely - so she doesn't. If she was wise, she'd clear out of the way entirely - but Tabitha wants proximity when Aracely finally lands. She stays close enough that Aracely can aim herself at Tabitha.

Too close; Aracely actually hits Tabitha, but this time she was ready for it, arms raised and in a stable, slightly broad-legged position. She staggers, but remains upright by sheer body strength and tenacity more than anything else.

Taking advantage of the proximity, Tabitha goes on the offensive before Aracely can recover (she hopes). She lets out a flurry of blows, swinging with both fists in a manner that isn't reckless but is definitely more offensive than defensive, only letting up when she needs to break the rhythm.

A flurry of blows that Aracely wades into! Just as planned*!

The brutality of this barrage makes Aracely grimace and Tabitha can tell from the way her body is jerking that this isn't actually an effort to 'sell'. She's feeling them. It hurts! And Tabitha's not easily knocked down. Aracely leans down -

And hooks her hands down suddenly. This does look dreadfully inappropriate, but Aracely's goal is to suddenly seize the brutally boxing girl by her trunks with one hand and her upper thigh with the other and, before she knows it, INVERT HER ENTIRELY INTO THE AIR.

And having accomplished that, does Aracely stop? No, the Moonchild does not rest. Main force holds Tabitha in place, but Aracely isn't THAT much bigger or more muscular than her. She has to keep moving forwards, and she does just that, turning and running for the far ropes.

She runs towards them, sweat pouring down her back as she does. With this added momentum, she puts a foot up on the ropes, pushes herself upwards, tilts Tabitha forwards as if she's going to dump her over the top -

And then recoils backwards, letting go. And giving Tabitha the opportunity to whack herself on the upraised knee she proffers as an exciting landing space, though the proximity of the ropes might - MAYBE - take a little edge off.

It not only looks inappropriate, it makes Tabitha jump in surprise because she's not used to being picked up, even partially, by her pants. This probably makes her easier to pick up and guide with a hand on her leg, lifted into the air.

Tabitha struggles when hefted, which may make carrying her a little more difficult. Her shirt is not tucked in and she abruptly wishes it was since it tends to flop around; she twists to try to save her embarassment as much as her fight, holding it in place with one hand before it gets too high up. Her cheeks burn even as she tries to get out of Aracely's grip.

And then, abruptly, she isn't in the grip anymore.

Tabitha rebounds off the rope and slams into Aracely's knee. It looks like it stunned her, because she rolls off it, onto her back, breathing hard rather than immediately getting back up - but rise she does, albeit with effort, struggling to stand and barely managing it. She's hurt - not so hurt she can't finish the battle, but enough that she doesn't have much left to give.

Aracely has already been subject to one of Tabitha's uppercuts today. There is, rather abruptly, another one - but this one is different. Tabitha's fist trails light as it rises, like she had a multicoloured light clenched in her fist and it was only trickling out between her fingers.

When she connects - if she connects - there's an explosion of colours, a bright flash that ends in a shimmering rainbow of colours like the Northern Lights. The cloud of light is bitterly cold, absolutely freezing, though it doesn't last long; it's a flash and a fade, not a lingering effect, but between the explosion of chi and the sudden frigidity -

Well, it's a surprise.

She's reeling, Aracely thinks, her chest heaving as she twists away from the stunned Tabitha. She'd go for a pin now, or the Clutches of Satan if she was on her chest, but she's not. And then Tabitha's up and it's too late.

Aracely faces Tabitha down with clear eyes and a focused dedication. She can see that light. Feel the cold. But she's feeling something now, some kind of perfect rhythm hiding in the nuances of the world, and as Tabitha lunges in, she runs forwards. To meet her destiny?!

In a sense, yes. She ducks down low at perhaps the last moment, and Tabitha's bursting blast does hit the air above her. This, at least, sends icy chills and a few spots of what might have become frostbite on the exposed rear midriff of the Moonchild. But she's already propelling herself forwards.

Is it a flying tackle? Almost.

If she gets her arms around Tabitha's midsection, the worst hug ever will turn into a twisting upwards, to get calves around her neck and propel her forwards - a powerbomb right straight into the mat, hard and loud!!

Fortunately, the ring is unlikely to break...

Fortunately, the blast is not likely to leave frostbite. Chill, yes; enough to slow her down, wear her out. It's like stepping outside in the winter; if you're only there for a few seconds, it's shocking, not dangerous. More of the power was in the chi blast - and, of courser, Tabitha's fist.

However, that fist has connected with nothing but air, and Tabitha has - unwisely, perhaps! - left herself open by putting everything she had into that blow. She returns to a basic stance, but not fast enough; Aracely gets her hands around Tabitha's waist, her legs around her neck -

Tabitha slams into the mat. The ring does not break.

Tabitha almost does, though. Dazed, Tabitha runs on sheer muscle memory for several seconds; she flops, twitches, and half-throws herself, half-staggers at Aracely. She moves fast for someone who is barely concious, a blurring-fast fist showing what her goal is, but she falls to a knee afterwards. Will she make it back up? In hindsight, Aracely thinks, this should've been how I started, on account of she's a boxer.

It might not have hurt!

Well, it might have hurt Tabitha but that's the point.

Tabitha manages to push herself to her feet instead of going down. She is running on adrenaline and determination; she's taken a beating and kept on going. The crowd loves it (but, then again, they've loved the whole match, especially when Aracely does something crazy with the jumping - by comparison with high-flying wrestling, Tabitha is a workhorse, effective but not nearly as flashy for the audience unless you understand technical boxing).

Tabitha has at least some experience with chokeholds, if only because people just love to apply them to her. She deals with it in a somewhat unorthodox manner; she rests one of her hands on her own throat, so that when Aracely applies pressure, Tabitha can resist, using her strength despite the awkward angle to pull that hooked arm away from her air supply. It still leaves her neck (and fingers) feeling a little crunched.

There is no good way to punch someone directly behind her. Tabitha does not; she tilts her head forward slightly and then slams it backwards as hard as she can, hoping to catch Aracely in the nose or face. She has a pretty hard head, as it turns out - and it lets her try to catch her breath after the attempted chokehold.

Tabitha's headbutt, in a very real sense, works. She can hear a satisfying thud and crunch from the woman behind her.

Aracely by contrast experiences the unique and memorable feeling of a broken nose. Not a badly broken one, but there's a faint CRUNCH and she can taste blood.

She doesn't break the hold. Aracely grimaces, brings her other arm down to wrap around Tabitha's upper body --

And whips backwards, hard, sharp and fast, aiming to whip her choking arm loose at the same time as she whips Tabitha into a shockingly vigorous suplex that will, hopefully, send her skipping across the ring and/or into one of the turnbuckles. "Ghh!!"

Tabitha is on the verge of collapse right now. A shockingly vigorous suplex is just what the doctor* ordered to put her down entirely.

*Dr. Tran. He's a real doctor.

Tabitha was pretty sure that she'd distracted Aracely enough by driving her head backwards to stop the follow-up. That she hasn't catches her by surprise; she hits the mat, crashes, rolls and eventually fetches up against a turnbuckle.

Using the ropes to pull herself up, Tabitha's eyes fail to focus properly when she looks at Aracely, but she is either too dumb or too stubborn to know when she ought to give up. She brings up both her hands in a defensive guard and literally charges Aracely, though it turns into a stagger after about two steps. One of her arms breaks out of the guard a moment later in a wide sweeping punch, but that doesn't change the tenor of the assault: speed, except hampered by the fact that she can't focus.

Once again she looks like she's going to pass out. She doesn't think she's getting up from this one. But there's always a chance.

Aracely is unfolding from the crashing suplex and is already wasted enough that the blow smashes her in the thigh, sending her staggering back against the ropes hard enough to make one of them actually /snap/. The lower one, fortunately, but in a sense, that's a problem. Breaking her wrist would've been less of an obstacle.

So, she turns around to hop up onto the girl's back.

Aracely manages to put Tabitha in THE CLUTCHES OF SATAN, and not for the first time. Her back arches as it's pulled back, and she struggles, but not especially effectively; she's worn out, battered, but too stubborn to quit.

Once again Tabitha has trouble attacking someone behind her. She has to fight in a manner she's not very accustomed to: using her body weight as a weapon, when she's surprisingly short and lightweight for a boxer that fights the way she does. She reverses, trying to slam Aracely against the ropes and scrape her off, turning about fast enough for a body blow - but such a maneuver is likely, once again, to end in Tabitha's fall!

Don't throw me into those tight, cold ropes, Br'er Coyote! said Luchador Rabbit back in the day. Aracely does not suffer much injury from this, though when she flips up to the still intact top rope, she does feel a bunch of blood fall into her mouth. Exciting!

"Jesus! This isn't the end of your career, is the cartel gonna kill your sister or something if you lose!?" Aracely says from the top rope, incredulously.

After this she jumps off in an effort to land feet-first on Tabitha's back or shoulders. If this happens eight more times, she gets an extra life.

COMBATSYS: Tabitha dodges Aracely's Light Kick.

"Don't have a sister," is Tabitha's possibly-concussed response to that.

She /does/ have a cousin, and David Coren is in the crowd. He's been staring incredulously for a while now. He sees no reason to stop.

Tabitha's ability to remain upright is incredible. Her head isn't precisely clearing but she still seems to be operating; how much thinking she's doing versus running on long-drilled practice is an open question. Her everything hurts. And yet... there she is.

She manages to avoid Aracely's leap as much by luck as anything else - she saw it coming, but nothing but hoping wildly is going to get her to move fast enough to get out of the way of anything. She goes for a straight punch apparently because Aracely is there and providing a reasonable silhouette for her to aim at. Tabitha's finesse has rapidly vanished under the beating, leaving only straightforward, direct assault as an option.

COMBATSYS: Aracely blocks Tabitha's Straight Punch.

POW! Now Aracely tastes blue!

Staggering back afterwards, she hits those trusty ropes and rebounds forwards. Her own bell is relatively rung, but she has enough muscle memory to raise up her right arm and try to use her momentum to bear over the other woman and throw her to the ground with the weight of her body. Will it work? At this point, someone's going to run out of blood or brain cells! Who said women's MMA was bad??

COMBATSYS: Aracely can no longer fight.

COMBATSYS: Tabitha can no longer fight.

The taste of blue is presumably the opposite of whatever orange tastes like.

Whatever energy Tabitha has is starting to flag (again). Aracely manages to get her arm in the right place to rock Tabitha back, despite her struggles, there is absolutely nothing she can do about it.

Tabitha rolls, landing on her back. She just stares up at the roof of the plexiglass dome, gasping for breath. If she's concious, it's not by an amount that lets her get up - and she might just be unconcious with her eyes half-opened.

Women's MMA: the most brutal. Tonight, at least.

Aracely doesn't move for like forty seconds.

If this was CMLL she totally won, but unfortunately, the world does not obey Lucha law.
