SNF 2014.12 - SNF: Dance. Battle. All Night Long!

Description: SNF Winter Prom Feature Match - Momoko and Yun Lee face off in a modified Doki-Waku Dance Challenge for the entertainment of the all the prom goers. The match is fast and furious but the victor is clear.

The time has finally come.

The last few days have been a mixture of excitement and entertainment as the yearly Southtown Winter Prom kicked into full swing. Students from all of the local schools have joined in the festivities, laying to rest the usual intense inter-school rivalries in order to engage in a much needed distraction from the rigors of studying, athletics, clubs, and everything else that clutters up the minds of teenagers on a daily basis.

Ofcourse, nothing is ever that simple among the rival schools of Southtown. Catering to the tradition of martial prowess for which the town is known, many of the events have been focused around competitions. The Fight For Your Date theme of this year's prom has been a big hit so far and many strange pairings that might never have been considered have resulted from the ensuing chaos. Some even went so far as to place themselves up for auction to the highest bidder!

Overall, the energy surrounding the prom has been intensely positive - a welcome change from the recent hostilities that have been growing due to the bizarre circumstances of the school president exchange and the string of unusual attacks and pranks that have come about since.

A crowd of truly epic proportions fills the small arcade's main venue, spilling out into the surrounding area and filling the park to the brim. Dozens of large monitors have been set up on poles to give those out of visual range a way to observe the contest. Currently, the screens are filled with the face of a young man. His hair is slicked back, his attire consisting of a three piece suit of some reddish color giving him the look of an old-fashioned game-show host. The microphone in his hand amplies his voice and as he begins to shout in a flamboyant and over-enthusiastic manner the murmur of conversation quickly dies out.

"Welcome , ladies and gentlemeeeeeen to the Annual Southtown Winter Prom! TONIGHT, the event is going to be something coooompletely different than our previous festivities. As you may all know, there has long been a tradition among the schools to settle disputes that may arise between members of the student body: the Doki-Waku Dance Challeeeeenge!!"

As he belts out the last word, the lights in the arcade suddenly flare to life. A massive discoball descends from the ceiling, spewing a kaleidescope of multi-faceted light in a lazy spiral around the park. The raised stage at the back of the room also flickers and begins to blaze with a neon checkerprint. The sheer chaos of light, sound, and color is somewhat blinding but the roar of cheers that rises up from the crowd in a deafening wave is even more intense. The announcer waits for a few moments then raises his hands, motioning for silence.

"Tonight, two talented individuals will face off and throw down their best grooves! Who will come out on top? Who will suffer the shame of utter defeat? Let's meet our contestants!"

Spinning to face the stage, the Announcer gestures with a broad and grand sweep of his arm and the powerful spotlight illuminating him amidst the darkness follows the motion until it comes to rest on a small girl.

"In this corneeer! Representing her school of Taiyo High, we have a lovely young lady! Some of you may recognize this talented young diva from her street performances right here at this very park! A member of the drama club and three time champion of our local cafe's icecream eating contest! She may be small but don't understimate her folks, she's got enough spirit and heart to make up for it! She's - MOMOKOOOOOO!!"

That's her cue! Momoko turns and waves to the crowd as they release another uproar of cheers and applause. A few of her fans wave signs in the air and she turns to blow them a few kisses that leave visible trails of pink sparkles in the air. Eventually, she takes the stage, casually bounding up the small flight of stairs at its side. The last step, however, she clears in a dramatic leap, tucking her body into a gymnastic spin as she flies through the air. She does two full rotations before landing with cat-like grace on the glowing neon patterns, adding in a final pirouette that sends another trail of shimmering sparkles whirling around her in a brief storm of winking motes.

"And in this corneeeeerrrrrrrrrr---"

There's a sudden betrayal of microphone antics because it seems like the announcer's mic is just cut right off. While he's looking at it to see what's happening, there's a voice that comes across the speakers. A voice that belongs to someone that people both love and hate and are incessantly annoyed by. A voice that seems to be brought into being by the sheer awesomeness of wireless microphones.

"I got this, bro." There's the sound of wheels hitting this and that, as the stylish skateboarder skids and grinds through the arcade, leaping over people and attempting to get some more of the crowd behind him as he yanks off his cap and tosses it into the air. "Hailing all the way from Genhanten! The Dragon of the Wind and Clouds! Always Single and Ready to Mingle!"

The skateboarding showoff skids to a halt in front of some cute chicks and leaps off the board, somersaulting through the air and into the direction of the dance machines. Those girls practically faint at being so close to him. One of the crazies snatches up his skateboard and is ready to fight the others off with it.

Meanwhile, back in the air the stylish teen unfolds from his somersaulting and opens his arms nice and wide, gliding through the air and snatching his cap from its falling position. His body twists and he pulls his cap on falling backwards towards the area of competition. He makes sure it is on nice and straight, before dropping into a quick backflip to land on his feet with way too much style and a splash of grace.

"Yuuuuuuuuuun Leeeeeeeeeee!"

He throws his hands up into the air in what can only be attributed to his possible remixing of Randy Orton poses. Whether they are cheers or jeers, he stands there proudly, smiling and looking as those he's already won this damn thing. And if you ask him, he'd probably say he has.

Whatever the individual perceptions of Yun might be on a person to person basis, the crowd is too caught up in the moment to care. Fresh cheers rise up as the second contestant takes his place and it takes a few minutes for the swell of enthusiasm to die down to the point that the announcer even attempts to reassert control.

Due those moments, Momoko turns to give the young man who has joined her on stage a long look and a bright sugar-sweet smile. "Hey there! I'm Momoko! It's nice to meet another dancer! Let's have fun tonight and give everyone a good show, okay?"

Apparently finding a way to fix his microphone, the young man runs a hand through his hair and gives a huge television smile to the crowd. "Ladies and gentlemen! You have our contestants! Cute and petite meets stylish and loud tonight in our first ever - DOKI-WAKU DAAAANCE BATTLE!!"

More cheers, more waiting. When he can be heard again, Announcer turns to face the stage and the two contestants. "Alright, you two! Theeeese are the ruuules: you will face each other in a time honored tradition of /martial/ contest, however, you must also adhere to the Doki-Waku rules. One of you will start us off with some of your slickest fighting moves and your opponent must match this dazzling display with a similar one of their own! The first to miss their beat, leave the dance floor, or fall to their opponent's incredible skills will be the loser!"

An envelope is produced from the inside of his jacket and he holds it up dramatically. "So without further adieu, let's find out who will start us off in tonight's maaaain event!"

There's some rustling in the microphone as the announcer digs out a folded piece of paper from the fancy envelope. After a couple moments he manages to get it out and reads the name before turning back to the crowd, both of them held aloft in his hand.

"And it's Momokoooo!"

The small girl grins and gets her game face on, clenching her tiny hands into fists and tucking them against her side in a quick victory gesture. "Yes! Alright, let's do this!"

Dozens of high-powered speakers blare to life, belting out a gentle upbeat rythm. The lights surge with the sudden music and the checker-board of neon squares beneath the two contestant's feet begin to flicker and shift in color along time with the beat. The arcade's support pillars begin to glow with their own inner light, illuminating from within in soft blue tones that fills the small amphitheatre with a warm glow behind the dazzling display of the discoball and the stage itself.

Momoko begins to sway from side to side, easily falling into her martial stance. Some might claim that she's got more than a small advantage here since her chosen style is capoeira - a martial art that started out as a dance! Perhaps Yun's skateboarding practice will give him some rythm of his own.

"Ready?!"

She doesn't wait for him to say 'Go!'. Momoko comes out of the pen swinging, figuratively atleast, as she throws herself into the dance. Her feet shuffle back and forth, carrying her forward in an adorable hop-skip that manages to keep her movements smooth but erratic.

She sways to one side suddenly and rolls, planting one hand on the ground and casually cartwheeling to the side only a foot or so infront of Yun. Her feet swing out at his chest, snapping sideways with the motion of her flip, first one then the other.

When the music starts going, Yun starts moving as well. He's already feeling the groove and he's loving the fact that there's music getting thrown into the mix of this fight. He's plastered a big smile on his face with everything. His movements are not as graceful as a full on dancer or someone that may have a groovetastic edge, like Momoko, but he's still got a sense of rhythm that may be able to help him keep up.

"Come on with it!" Yun quips as he watches the hop-skip she's doing and he steps right into the same movement as well. Except, his lacks the adorability and comes with a lot more flavor and cockiness. He even puts a little twist on the ankles each time his foot skip-ups. He's always got to try and one up people. Even if that means putting himself in a position to not really be ready to handle the sudden kicking motion that comes in his direction from Momoko. He's actually looking at the crowd when he turns back to see one foot and then another come at his chest like there's no tomorrow. Each one buckles him and he grunts, stepping backwards just a bit from the violent collision.

"Oooooh. Okay, I see ya', shorty!" Yun flashes a grin and immediately goes into his own playful kick-step, feeling the groove as much as he possibly can. He moves to the rhythm of the music and reaches to brush off where feet impacted his chest. He's not about to look completely lame after all this.

At the end of his kick-stepping motions, he spins and leaps up, aiming a classic hop kick in the direction of Momoko's skull. His feet coming at her from above in rapid succession.

COMBATSYS: Momoko blocks Yun's Senpuu Kyaku.

"Great!", comes the voice of the Announcer as the girl's feet drum out a quick double beat on her opponent's ribcage. To his credit, Yun recovers from the assault quickly and drops back into the beat even as Momoko plops back onto her feet and begins to sway again, missing not a single step.

"Hehe, come on, mister! Show me what you've got!"

The leaping kick doesn't have all that high to go to reach her head but Momoko is too fast to be caught by the obvious attack. Her little arms come up, wrapping into a defensive shell infront of her face just in time to ward off the series of strikes, but even so she is forced onto her heels by the much heavier body of her assailant.

She teeters, arms flailing for a moment, but quickly recovers by turning the motion into a reverse handspring. Her tiny feet slice upwards as she bends, back arching into a bridge that brings her legs along for the ride in short order. Momoko drives her heel up and over her head, swinging at Yun from below as she retreats, trying to catch him before he can recover from his aggressive manuever. A blaze of sparkling pink stars trails along behind her foot tracing its path through the air with a touch of extra dazzle.

COMBATSYS: Yun blocks Momoko's Aumada Materu.

Momoko           0/-------/-----==|====---\-------\0              Yun

Yun Lee is somewhere between loving and hating everything that's going on at this exact moment. It has a lot to do with the fact that she's good... at both dancing and fighting. That's a combination that he wasn't expecting. Although, the impressed look on his face is one that shows that he's having a good time and that's pretty much all that matters, in the long run.

"Mister?! Girl, please. I'm not /that/ old." Yun quips back. "You might be thinkin' of my brother, Yang. He's the old soul out of us." Yun never passes up an opportunity to diss his brother. Even if his brother isn't here to hear it. If the words get back to him in rumors or something, it's still a good look.

With Momoko's moves coming at him with such speed and ferocity, it takes the bulk of Yun's attention to get his hands up. His arms cross and he puts some pressure behind attempting to keep that foot from slamming into him. He winces slightly at the pain of the impact but it's a lot better than actually getting kicked like crazy. Yun steps backwards and into some slick moves that resemble the classic 'Running Man'. He even claps his hands to the beat, making sure that the crowd is seeing that he's all for this dancing. Maybe keeping the crowd into it is the key to making sure he's the victor.

"Watch and learn, babygirl!" Yun steps right out of his Running Man and into a sudden leap at Momoko. He's aiming to snatch her up and plant his foot into her chest and kick back off, hopefully landing back on his side and right back into his Running Man.

COMBATSYS: Momoko blocks Yun's Monkey Throw.

The *whump* of impact sends a satisfying shock down her legs as Momoko lands a solid hit on her dance partner. His quick block manages to dull the brunt of it but she uses the brief contact to propel her handstand into an impromptu side flip that launches her out of range of any immediate counter-attack and gives her another chance to show off to the crowd.

The small dancer lands on her feet without much effort and drops into a holding pattern of swaying back and forth while Yun shows off his slick dance skills. She even claps along with him, grinning like a kid at the candy store. It's not often she gets the chance to perform with a partner and it seems like they found someone who's up to the task!

"Show me what you can do!"

Yun's flying leap causes the girl to drop low to avoid being snagged by his sudden attack, using her size to her advantage. Instead of grabbing hold of her, Yun's foot comes down on top of her crossed arms and with a surge of strength that seems out of place for someone so small, she pushes him upwards and into the air like a volley ball being set up for a serve.

"My turn!"

Momoko leaps into the air and reaches out with both hands, attempting to wrap her noodly arms around Yun's waist in what looks like an adorable hug - except it quickly turns less adorable when they start to plummet towards the ground and he's being used for her landing pad!

COMBATSYS: Momoko successfully hits Yun with Medium Throw.

Momoko           0/-------/----===|=======\-------\0              Yun

Yun is used to being in the air. He really is. And when he's caught in the air by the slick moves of Momoko, he's not really too worried about the situation. He attempts to get himself out of the girl's grip but it doesn't seem to be in the cards this time around. He ends up wrapped around the waist and he frowns, feeling that this is just not going to go his way. He winces, mentally bracing for impact and once it happens, he crunches and feels the full brunt of everything that Momoko has decided to give him. There's nothing but a look of pain on his face as he works on attempting to get himself out from underneath her.

"Pretty good, pretty good." Yun manages to get out somehow in the middle of dealing with the pain that's happening right now. His head is swimming a little bit even as he dance-steps his way closer to Momoko. He reaches out to attempt to grab her, spinning inward to try and slam his knee into her gut and then roll backwards in an attempt to flip and toss her off into a direction that is not where he is at this exact moment.

COMBATSYS: Yun successfully hits Momoko with Combo Grapple.
- Power hit! -

Momoko           0/-------/=======|=======\-------\0              Yun

Fortunately, Momoko weighs about as much as wet towel. When she brings Yun crashing to the floor it doesn't carry a lot more oomph than what he would have had simply falling to the ground. Not to say that's a particularly pleasant thing to experience but the little girl's effort doesn't make it that much worse. She's not trying that hard to bring this to a quick conclusion, in any case - it's too much fun!

Momoko rebounds from the crash landing as quick as ever, dancing backwards on her tip toes to let Yun recover himself. He seems in equally high spirits so she doesn't worry about having injured him too much with that move; Southtown kids are raised tough! So tough, infact, that he regains his footing and presses the attack much faster than she anticipated.

Before she can say anything encouraging or witty, Momoko finds all of the air being violently forced out of her lungs by someone's knee in her stomach. She lets out a surprised, "Whuulgh?!", and doubles over, making her easy prey for the follow up rolling toss that flings her clear across the stage.

The tiny girl isn't much of a load to toss and she gets good air time before crashing back down hard. She lands in a very messy heap, coming down square on her face and flopping sideways in what cannot be a pleasant fashion. If this were a cartoon there'd be a big ball of dust around her at this point.

"Ooooowww...."

Momoko's whimper echoes over the music a few moments after she comes to a halt indicating that she somehow survived such an awful landing. Even more surprisingly, she gets back to her feet and shakes it off, moonwalking back to her spot on the dance floor in time with the simple repeating upbeat song. She slides backwards as easily as if the stage were made of ice, managing to make the complicated dance move look as easy as if she were born doing it.

Once she reaches the center, Momoko glances back over her shoulder and grins and keeps on going backwards. She gets a little bounce in her step as she does so and the moonwalk quickly turns into a moon-skip. About three steps from reaching Yun, the little suddenly skids to a halt and snaps her feet together. But her momentum doesn't stop and she turns the movement into a straight bunny hop - one, two, three little leaps, and with each hop she thrusts her little rear at him, slamming backwards into his legs with surprising but not overwhelming force. It's clearly a playful move but if he doesn't watch himself he could be knocked over!

COMBATSYS: Yun full-parries Momoko's Peach Attack!!

Momoko           0/-------/-======|=======\==-----\1              Yun

There seems to be a time and a place for everything and right now, Yun is starting to get an upper hand on what's happening right about now. There's so much movement and there's so much speed between both Yun and Momoko that the music that's playing seems to be trying to keep up with the two of them! That's just something that needs to be understood. These two dance fighting gurus are definitely putting on a show for the crowd. And the crowd is loving every moment of it.

"You good?" Yun tosses at the girl, post-tossing her around. He's just checking on her. He's pulling his punches and kicks and stuff to make sure that he's not putting her down too hard. This is, after all, just a friendly dance competition. While he's getting himself ready, he's bopping from side to side to make sure that he stays on beat. He's not about to forget to keep the dancing going. He'd hate to lose this battle on a technicality.

"Oooooh. Now that's what I'm talkin' about!" Yun is down with the moonwalking and gives the girl a little bit of helpful clapping when it comes to her movements. And then? Then she starts backing it up on him! "Uh-oh! Uh-oh! Go girl!" Yun is cracking up at this point, because he's not really supposed to be enjoying this but why not. It is an awesome move. Each one of those leaps gets a hand swiped out at such bunny hopping rear bouncing. He slaps left, then right, then left again to make sure that it doesn't get to slam into him. Off that last one, he spins himself around and away from her. He backpedals to put some space between himself and her. "Look ma'. All hands." Yun winks.

With the space he's been given, Yun smiles at the crowd and reaches up to pull his cap down over his eyes. Uh oh. They know this look. And that smirk. That would be why the rumblings are starting and the cheers are already happening. Those girls are starting to get excited. "Let's kick it up a notch!" Yun then takes a leaping stride in Momoko's direction, his fist stretched out in front of him and primed to layeth the smacketh down all upside her face. It's all about style, baby.

Hit or Miss, the Yun fans are going crazy.

COMBATSYS: Yun successfully hits Momoko with Ze-Sho Hohou EX.

Momoko           1/----===/=======|=======\====---\1              Yun

Momoko lets out a shrill sound that combines the girlish pitch of a surprised yelp and the bubbling roll of amused giggles as her attack gets turned into a slightly scandalous display of playful swatting. Yun easily pushes her hip-thrusts aside, not only avoiding their impacts but using their energy to fuel his own flashy display. The crowd loves it.

Her face slightly pinker than it was a few moments ago, Momoko turns back around to face her opponent after her last rear bump is swatted away and puts both hands on her cheeks, only half feigning terrible embarrassment. She plays it up though, turning away and swaying back and forth, and the surge of amused laughter rolls through the spectators at her antics.

Yun doesn't waste any of the energy he's gathered from his skillful manuevering, either. A gasp rises up as those familiar with the younger Dragon's fighting matches recognize the move - he's getting ready to unleash his big punch! Apparently, Momoko isn't a fan because she doesn't see it coming. The flying fist catches her square against the cheek and the small girl staggers into backwards tumble.

She's not out yet, though! Even as she falls, Momoko slaps her hands down on the dance floor and pops back to her feet as nimbly as can be. She's already in motion by the time her feet are back on the floor and she rushes at at Yun in a wild charge, her pattering steps slapping down in time with the beat.

The girl spins and her foot comes up, twirling around to smash at Yun from the side. She rides the momentum of the attack and keeps it going, snapping her leg back into the air to bring it across his body from the other side the moment it touches the ground. A pair of adorable little hops bring her knees, one after the other up towards his stomach, almost like she's tip-toeing aggressively at him. Finally, Momoko attempts to dig her foot into his midsection on the last hop and use him for a stepping stone, backflipping daintly through the air in a burst of pink sparkles.

COMBATSYS: Yun full-parries Momoko's Momokonba!!

Yun Lee is still in celebration mode from landing his epic signature move. He's even halfway willing to attempt a couple of hand-slaps to the crowd that's nearby. He does manage to keep up the dancing, though, as he doesn't want to lose the groove that he's found for himself. He's busy getting his dance on and almost doesn't even realize that the girl is launching a quick fast and in a hurry attack right back at him.

"Whoa! Smooth moves, babygirl!" Yun throws his hands up because he's pretty sure that this is going to hurt. The moves and the sparkles are combining to create an epic level combo that is packed to the brim with skill and power. Yun does everything he can to keep up with the movements. His hands move with the quickness to slap away that initial kick. He steps backwards and throws those hands to smack away the next kick and those knees. His eyes are following the momentum as much as possible. When that final foot comes at him, he plants his hands at them again to push away that stepping stone backflip.

"Not bad! I'm lovin' the sparkles. No, really. I am." There's just a hint of playful sarcasm that's coming along with those words. He reaches up to pull his cap back to its normal style on the top of his head.

Whether the timing is right to catch her the moment she lands from her backflip, Yun turn-steps and slide-rushes across the floor. As he does so, he bops along to the beat that's playing in the background, making sure that this slide is as musically inclined as possible. He aims his back shoulder at Momoko as he slides towards her, ready to knock her clean across the dance area!

COMBATSYS: Momoko fails to interrupt Tetsu Zankou EX from Yun with Ohashi Samaninacchae EX.

COMBATSYS: Momoko can no longer fight.

[          \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\  <
Yun              1/<<<<<<</<<<<<<<|

This is truly something else. Tonight the dance floor has become a battlefield and for every moves she makes Yun is two steps ahead of her. Whether it's simply a case of her being completely off her game or him being totally on fire, it's pretty clear who is in command of the action.

Despite all her efforts, Momoko's flurry of kicks is met with the palm of the Dragon's hands as if he's playing patty-cake with her feet. It's kind of embarrassing how easily she's being shown up but that only makes it all the more awe-inspiring to the on-lookers. They cheer and clap in time with the music, occasionally managing to overpower the thumping output of the massive speakers with their fanfare.

Momoko flips backwards through the air in a lazy arc, gathering power into her hands even as she does so. She can feel the building rythm of Yun's fighting spirit, slowly gaining an understanding of how he moves and acts. When he comes flying at her across the stage, she's going to be ready for him - with a little surprise waiting.

Except she's the one who gets the surprise. A shooting pain explodes through her ankle as she lands, bringing with it a wave of confusion. She's done this move a thousand times so why...? There's no time to ponder how she messed up her landing for Yun's slick slide across the floor catches her square in the chest even as she stumbles.

Momoko's cheery smile vanishes as the shoulder-check crashes into her like a freight train. The music cuts out as if on cue and the small girl sails backwards as if fired out of a canon, flying off the stage and into the crowd. She vanishes in a sea of arms, dozens of limbs rises up at once like a solid surface to catch the wayward dancer. After a few moments she reappears, popping back up into the air and riding a wave of hands as the crowd carries her about in a chaotic pattern.

"Ladies and gentlemen! It looks like we have a winner!" The spotlights converge on the lone figure left on the stage, blinking rapidly in a blinding strobe effect. "The Dancing Dragon of Genhanten - Yuuuuun!"

It is almost as if Yun Lee, the Dancing Dragon of Genhanten, expected this to be the outcome. He's standing in the center of the stage, throwing his hands up and enjoying the endless amount of cheering and praise that comes in his direction. He keeps those hands up for a long time, though, not even wanting to make an ending come to the sound of everyone chanting for him and his victory.

He does take one moment to look off in the direction of wherever Momoko ended up in an effort to make sure the girl's okay. He didn't want to hurt her too bad, he just wanted to make sure that he was the ultimate victor of the entire challenge. He needs as many victories as he can get.

"You're welcome!" is tossed out at the crowd as he bows. As if this was planned all along, random explosions on the rafters make it rain Genhanten coupons down upon the crowd. Looks like Yun has no problem making sure that Genhanten gets represented in everything he does. "Board." is said to the girls that he saw upon his entrance and they roll it across the stage to him. Yun hops on the board and takes his cap off to give a nod towards the crowd. With a wink and a smile, he kicks off and gets to skating his way out of dodge!
