Description: A riot erupts for who gets to ask Brett out to Prom! Hinata wants Brett to end up with someone he likes, Gabriel wants to end the sin of people getting asked out to proms she never got asked out to. (Winner (thank goodness) Hinata)
While it may be difficult to believe just looking at him, Brett Neuer has actually managed to build up a small fanclub in his time at Gorin. While some might suggest that he's a bit uncharismatic, some girls find his quiet personality to have a certain small town charm. He's also the star player on Gorin's ice hockey team and has been in major televised fights, one where he was even on the winning team.
It is probably thanks to his shyness, especially around the opposite sex, that when the Southtown Interschool Activity Commitee was working out plans for some major prom events, Brett's name ended up in the box of candidates with handwriting that looks suspiciously like that of one of his team mates.
What makes this event even more awkward is that Brett has managed to get his name included in the lineup for exhibition fights, and when information on these events was going out, somebody forgot to actually ask Brett to show up to the "Fight for your date!" portion of these events.
Result: You now have a cafe full of teenage hockey fans... the sort of fans who intentionally show up to an event where you are expected to fight for the opportunity to go to prom with a high school hockey star. A star who isn't there, which led to the host of this event possibly going a bit far in an effort to hype up the excitement so that it wouldn't look bad for him.
Somewhere in all of this, a rumor started to spread that Brett's exhibition match with Yuri Sakazaki was actually a prelude to Yuri asking Brett to prom, and that unless a winner was chosen before she could do that, everyone here would miss out.
Drifting back in time a few hours... set scene of one Natsu Ayuhara convincing Hinata Wakaba that she should show up to this "Fight for your date" event. There's a bit of awkwardness about it until Natsu finally convinces Hinata (who is currently under the impression that Brett asking her out to lunch was a prelude to friendship, not dating, because who the hell asks a girl out to lunch for a first date?) to go to support her friend.
Cut back forward. Hinata is arriving about ten minutes before the event is scheduled to start.
One of the women is thrown out onto the street through the cafe's plate glass window.
In Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, there is this competition where children risk their lives, maim each other and nearly die! . . .
Okay so I would like to pretend that my point starts and ends right there, but unfortunately the segway is that a person should of checked the goblet to see that all of the names belonged. Still not following? This event was designed to line up prom dates with the accuracy of blind dating and probably the awkwardness level too. Especially since the 'goblet of fire' in this case made no effort to ensure the people tossing their names into the goblet are actually of high school age.
Kai Gabriel is not of high school age. However she still gets invited to participate in what is going to be some sort of competition for the hand of Brett in M--maneuvering him to go to the prom. She'll just keep telling herself it's to chaperone. And also like the goblet of fire, there is someone who isn't what they seem. . Wait it's Gabriel again, she's not an appropriate date for Brett, but she'll dress the part like drinking a potion designed to change her shape into a profession (more hp references).
She comes in her old Justice High uniform, steps over the person whom just crashed through the window, like they werent't there and announces, through the hole.
"I shall be taking Brett to this school event to supervise and he shall under no circumstances accompany anyone else as a date at his age would be inappropriate!"
I've got no HP reference to her gauntlet throw down to the hormonal hockey fans. Somewhere a giant facepalm happens most epically.
So, it's about this time that the event's host (a third year student from the drama club at Pacific) is starting to wonder if perhaps he went too far in hyping up this event. Austin Wilson was worried that without Brett to stand there and be a meat on the auction block, nobody would get excited for this event. They'd taken the time to set up a big ring in the parking lot around back, complete with some special hockey pads for all of the entrants (in an effort to keep anyone from getting too badly injured).
Now half the tables have had bodies thrown through them and all of the windows have broken. The brawl is spilling out into the street as the event begins prematurely.
Also Gabriel Kai has shown up, but he doesn't yet know that this is reason to be worried. He also doesn't really notice, because after his initial efforts to calm down the growing riot failed, Austin went to hide behind the counter in the fetal position.
Meanwhile, outside, Hinata is simply standing there staring as the fight goes full force. It's like Vancouver after a big hockey loss, only currently a lot more localized. She hadn't really been planning to participate in the brawl (Brett deserved a chance to get a date with a girl he liked who was really into him, and he was her friend so she'd support that).
Though Hinata might not participate (she probably will) but that doesn't mean Brett gets the date he wants, because he wants to date someone he likes and the winner here, regardless of who, gets his hand. The damsel in distress (a very fitting descriptor when you consider who is attempting to get his hand) This person is Gabriel.
With the fight spilling into the street, Gabriel starts to do what she does best. Clubs unsuspecting children over the head from behind with her parasol which is apparently made out of lead because it is really really effective. This could also be called assault or child abuse, depending on who is prosecuting.
No one has called the police so for now Gabriel is in the clear. A more astute observation about society is not that the police are not called to violence amongst children (and we take back the bit about high schoolers being easy targets) is that instead a camera crew has set up and more responsible seeming adults than Gabriel are televising this in order to sell the spectacle to advertisers for the chance to sell products to the millions of viewers who will want to watch it. The only legal proceedings are cease and desist letters to anyone trying to post wanton child violence for free.
One thing about being Hinata Wakaba (especially in a brawl full of hockey fanatics who like to fight) is that she's really rather small. Certainly she's just a 15 year old Japanese girl, which doesn't lend itself to being especially massive (unless you're massive), but in her current surroundings she sort of falls beneath the attention of a lot of the current participants in this event.
Another important thing about being Hinata Wakaba is that Hinata Wakaba tends to have a pretty strong sense of right and wrong. Certainly this fight as a whole is in a weird gray area (after all, the PTA and a lot of other groups of adults signed off on these events), but when she sets eyes on Gabriel moving through the crowd hitting people on the head hard enough that even seasoned hockey fangirls are going down in one hit... Hinata seems to think something might be a bit off there.
And so the high schooler, who showed up in an effort to show support for the boy who may have thought asking a girl to lunch is a good way of showing you are interested in them, starts to drift through the brawl remarkably unscathed. A lot of people have paired off, and she certainly doesn't look like a threat. From overhead, it's possible to notice her position by the weird low point in the riot as she slips up behind Gabriel.
"I don't mean to be rude... but you look like you're way too old to be here. And, also, it looks a whole lot like you're hitting people way too hard."
Ninja Ninja Rap!
Hinata is the Ninja, and Gabriel didn't seen-ya. She spins around, like a rapper gets down and eyes wide at the scene-ah.
"You are never too old to ensure that proper virtue is upheld, " Gabriel tells Hinata, regaining herself and her look of superiority,
"These girls are going to behave in unseemly ways if they are allowed to attend this .. thing with a male I feel they will all be doing great harm to themselves and their future." She raises her parasol and looks balefully at Hinata,
"And since you are here.. Clearly you may need to be saved as well."
Gabriel tosses her hair and raises her brow at Hinata before launching into a greater diatribe.
"You see many times teenage juveniles attend prom and mix it with drinking and then afterward many of them drive and then they end up with unwanted relationships with children that didn't exist a year ago." She stares at Hinata as though trying to decide if this short girl maybe one such prom baby.
Surrounding the two main characters, the brawl has most definitely become a riot. Somehow a car has been flipped over and two Seijyun girls are currently fighting on top of it. Strangely, the fight hasn't managed to spread anywhere close to the parking lot it was originally intended to be held in.
Despite all of this violence and chaos, for whatever reason the two people who are actually important enough to have names seem completely unaffected. Nobody gets violently shoved into them or even between them. It's as if the main character force field has been erected for just this particular talking moment.
"...The schools set this up. I'm pretty sure if you wanted to put in a complaint about it, you should be talking to the PTA instead of hitting people in the head." Hinata is remarkably calm in the moment. Perhaps having to deal with people driving stolen monster trucks onto your school's campus starts to make things seem less weird.
"And wouldn't causing a high schooler brain damage be worse than them maybe having inappropriate relations?" She points over to one of the girls who is faintly groaning on the street right now. "It seems to me that if you really cared about the safety of people, you wouldn't be hitting them."
Oh ho ho ho ho . . Is the laugh Gabriel would do, if Gabriel laughed.
"How naive."
"Do you know that for many years we used lobotomies to cure the mentally ill of their violent tendencies? I ask you can you think of no instance where you do harm to do a greater good? A injection hurts because you are damaging your body in order to deliver a potentially life saving cure, but can you truly say there is no harm in puncturing your own flesh?" Gabriel tosses her hair and gestures about the various people she's already struck,
"You see I am rescuing them from sin, tonight they might of hurt someone, then kissed someone in a mad romantic desire brought about by the heat in their blood from the fuel of violence and then they could of snuck into a phone booth and then they could of done something untoward that they could never forget or cleanse from their soul!"
A trickle of blood drips from one of Gabriel's nostrils, she doesn't seem to notice.
"So you see my actions are necessary."
And so Hinata is left standing there in silence, momentarily at a loss for words as she actually begins to understand something important about the woman in front of her.
"...You're crazy."
It's a really simple statement that seems to very accurate summarize everything important about what has just been said. Certainly it might ignore some subtle facts (like the fact that Gabriel is /super/ crazy), but it's accurate enough for the time being.
"So, either you need to leave and stop hitting people, or I'm going to have to make you stop hitting people." And there comes Hinata's ultimatum. She doesn't really know what to think about everything that's going on (like the fact that the current brawl isn't really what the organizers intended), but she's positive that Gabriel shouldn't be here doing what she's doing.

Long sigh.
" I do not expect a child like you to understand. . . "
"However I will not allow you to interfere."
"If you could go back in time and stop Stalin, would you not have to commit any act to prevent the murder of millions?" And here I am, with the chance to stop these young impressionable juveniles from ruining their souls, of course I will defeat a villain like you who stands in my way."
She points the parasol at Hinata,
"But I commend you for seeing through my clever disguise."
She attempts to hit Hinata on the head with here parasol (freeball).
Right as Gabriel swings, it seems as though the impenetrable bubble of main character drama is suddenly popped, and by sheer coincidence, it is at this exact moment that one of the Brett fans in the brawl suddenly goes surging for Hinata, spying what she believes is an easy kill in this match to win the hand of Gorin's star ice hockey player.
Yeah, she kind of stumbles right into Gabriel's parasol and accidentally protects Hinata from the malevolent device with the back of her head.
She falls to the ground.
Okay, now it's pretty obvious that Gabriel isn't going to leave peacefully. For example, the fact that she may have been attempting to cave Hinata's head in, that seems kind of suspicious. "I warned you about this!" Hinata shouts as she suddenly leaps right into the air and whips an axe kick down at the top of the psychotic woman's head. It's simple, but hopefully effective.

Well. . That was. Surprisingly. Gabriel clearly didn't expect the suicidal dive attack and is like woah once the girl goes down. Though her woah face is almost imperceptible and then there is the fact she planned on clubbing this girl eventually anyway, so it's no big deal, except when Hinata is all like, Hiya! And gabriel is all like Block! WIth her arms, instead of her head.
There is only one way to deal with someone who tries to kick someone in the head.
"Child." She says and tries to grab Hinata's leg and twist to take her off her feet.

Maybe trying to do a massive axe kick right off the bat isn't a good idea. This is something that Hinata is currently thinking very hard over as she doesn't manage to yank her foot away as Gabriel reaches for it. Having both legs pulled out from under her isn't a great experience, Hinata thinks, as she hits the pavement in the street.
It would have been nice if maybe she could have landed one of those unconcious hockey fans instead of the actual street.
Well, never let it be said that Hinata Wakaba is one to stay down. The energetic school girl pops herself right back up with surprising ease to stare down the crazy woman. "It's not going to be that easy to stop me! I'm not going to let you run around here ruining..." she sounds a bit uncertain at that part, the even might have ruined itself "...ruining an event set up between the schools to help create unity!"
Unity. By beating each other up for prom dates.
"So, it's time to knock you off your feet!" She shouts as she lunges forward, lashing out with a suddenly flurry of rapid fire punches from all angles, following them up by thrusting both fists forward at the same time and creating an explosive burst of chi, right in Gabriel's face.

Incoming. . . !
"Hmph-!"
Gabriel holds her hand out and deflects the punches but quickly returns them with the exact same maneuver? Not quiet, there are subtle differences between what Hinata does to her and what Gabriel does, back, but to an outside watcher it may look like she uses the exact same attack right back at her.
"So it's time to knock you off your feet." She doesn't seem to enjoy the whole punching people thing, because immediately afterward she starts shaking one hand behind her back and wincing just a little.
Okay, so that sort of exploded in her face. Or burned back in her face. Whatever. The point is that now Hinata's face kind of hurts. Clearly this requires some different sort of approach.
Clearly the correct answer at this point is quite simple: Try punching again, but punch differently!
"I don't know exactly what it is you just did, but I'd like to see you try to do that sort of crazy thing against this!" She shouts as she lunges forward, gripping both hands together in front of her chest as she turns sideways and attempt to drive the point of her elbow into Gabriel's stomach.

She doesn't.
She tries to defend by lowering her shoulder, but she lowers for a punch and instead gets elbowed, staggering back several steps afterward.
"How rude!" she says before going for a reprisal.
"This is how you do that." She says, with a quick palm thrust, not at all repeating the sort of attack that Hinata just threw at her.

In this current situation, Hinata is apparently not exactly managing to figure out how to deal with a crazy woman. When Gabriel goes in for the retaliatory punch, Hinata whips her arms up in an effort to ward off the blow, only to instead find that she's very suddenly got a palm slapping her in the chest and knocking her back.
It takes Hinata a moment to recover from that as she winces. Clearly she needs to modify her methods if she wants to deal with this situation.
"Alright, then I guess I need to go big!" Momentarily crouching down to summon all she can into her legs, Hinata lunges forward and upwards with as much force as she can, whipping her leg out as its bathed in chi, aimed to knock Gabriel up into the air, where the whirlwind schoolgirl somewhat lunges forward with another kick... and then another one as she juggles the older, crazier woman out above the crowd.

And the crowd goes wild!
Or at least they would, if anyone was paying attention and not too busy fighting themselves. By now no doubt two Taiyo high students are fighting each other while crowd surfing on other people fighting each other. Gabriel is being juggled above all of this because she's not nearly fast enough to actually block the fist attack that knocks her up into the air so the follow ups naturally connect.
Somehow she manages to wheel herself around in the air and aims a heel stomp down toward Hinata's head on her way down.

There are advantages to not being the person who just got kicked super hard by flaming legs of whirlwind fire death. One of those advantages is that you're actually in control of where the heck you are. Another advantage is that physics don't really make a whole lot of sense for fighters compared to normal people.
For example: As Gabriel makes her effort to slam a foot down on Hinata's head, the young sunshine girl suddenly flips backward in mid-air. No, she didn't land momentarily and flip.
That's not the only completely absurd thing that Hinata does while she's in mid-air, either. After flipping, she apparently doesn't really want to land back down amongst the crowd and starts to do another flurry of kicks in the air, this time absolutely nowhere near Gabriel.
One...
Two...
Three...
This seems like a terrible idea. Except, perhaps, if you ignore the fact that each kick launched one of Hinata's shoes flying down at the crazy woman who likes to beat up high school girls. Yep, all three shoes.

No satisfaction. Landing on the ground when you meant to land on someone's head is not at all satisfying, it is like the opposite of satisfying. Gabriel looks frustrated, that is until a shoe makes it's way toward her face and she catches it by mere reflex. Her brows raise, she looks at the shoe, then chucks it back with more force than really needed.
"Cease this, You are preventing me from putting an end to this savagery!"

Sometimes, you never know what's being done in your name.
With his own event happening, it was only far too late that he realizes that the organizers of this event, connected to the Gorin Prom, had decided to throw his name into some cockamaime match for his sake. Bad enough that he hadn't had the chance to actually ask the girl he wanted to the dance properly, but the very fact that it was supposed to be for his hand (in a sense) was just crazy.
Running to the cafe, not even the chance to put on his skates, the young hockey star tried to make the best time he could. Loosening his bowtie from the disaster of a 'dance practice' that he was sprinting from, he huffed as he tried to get to La Petit Chien before things got out of hand. Unfortunately, 'out of hand' seemed to start before he even had a chance to leave his practice, especially by the way he sees things turning into a veritable riot. "...oh geez....what is going on..." he mutters. He's not quite there yet, but even a block or so away, he can see it like a bad batch of hockey goons. Except, you know, girls trying to fight for him.
DId he really have this many fans? There's something truly embarrassing about this entire thing. "...I really gotta stop this..." he mutters, breaking into a run toward the cafe again.
Okay, so now people are throwing shoes back at her.
Not cool, the shoe thing is HER thing.
This time being in the air doesn't seem like such a great thing, as she's forced to throw her arms up in front of her, catching the shoe in a handy cross block as ends up landing on top of one of the local newspaper boxes.
...With shoes.
Didn't she just throw those? How the hell is she already wearing a new pair of what seems to be the exact same shoes?!
While people are left to consider the worrying nature of the Earth and Physics during this fight, Hinata takes a moment to try to collect herself. Life isn't easy when people keep throwing your attacks back at you!

Chaos is flowing all around the pair, Gabriel stares at Hinata, glares really, but truly seems to feel in her element. She doesn't notice anyone else, just her and Hinata. A bottle flies through the air and shatters on a lamp post behind her. Gabriel doesn't react, but as Hinata isn't coming at her, she reaches down, slowly picks up her parasol. For a moment there is no movement. She looks like she's going to quick draw with the Parasol and then. . She attacks.
If she were wielding a sword, this would make sense, but wielding a parasol, Gabriel just looks silly, swiping repeatedly at Hinata with what is basically a cloth umbrella.
The silliness of how this looks is lost entirely on Gabriel

Running fast as he can (which is not terribly easy in formal shoes, mind), Brett finally gets close enough to the cafe to see things first hand. Brow furrowed as he looks around, he doesn't dive into the fray to interrupt things. Oh, he's tempted to, for sure. He hates to see this kind of violence in his name for something so petty as a prom date. Sure, he's always been shy and hadn't had many dance dates back home, sure, but this is far too far the other way for his liking.
But tempted as he is to put a stop to things himself, he instead tries to find the event producers. After all, he knows this was arranged for the same event as his debacle, so someone must be overseeing it. "Hey...hey, could I please talk to someone in charge of this?" he calls out, not quite at the top of his voice. At least not until he realizes no one can hear him over the fight. It's then that he sees the middle of the fight.....
And sees Hinata. Blood drains from his face in mortification. "Oh cripes...." he mutters. This is the last way he wanted things to turn out. But as he's still unable to find the person in charge of the fight, he scowls....before turning toward the fight and cupping his hands. "Don't give up, Hinata!!!" he shouts, at the top of his voice....before he realizes the folly of it all. Eyes widening as his mistake hits him, he immediately turns away and tries to find something to cover his face. No sense getting violent date-goers going for him personally after all....
This is absurd.
Okay, not that absurd, a lot of Hinata's friends happen to use "unconventional" fighting styles. It's possibly stupid, but that's when you start to look at it in the context of a bunch of high school girls having a brawl over going to prom with a socially awkward high school athlete. And also there being a small high school girl fighting an adult woman wearing a high school uniform while wielding a parasol in an effort to prevent high schoolers from doing anything impure.
In an effort to avoid some of how dumb this is, Hinata suddenly kicks back off the newspaper box as Gabriel comes flying in at her, leaving the poor apartment listings and free version of the Southtown Sun to be obliterated by a slashing umbrella.
When she ends up on the ground, the sunshine girl charges back into things, making an effort to get Gabriel back up into the air as drops to one knee and both hands in front of Gabriel and charges up her other leg with as much speed and power as she possibly can as it suddenly launches up at Gabriel's stomach in an upward angle with such speed that one might consider it bad animation that it got there so fast.

Usually when Gabriel starts doing her crazy berserker barrage rip off she hits something, and she sort of does, air . She would of been happy to just hit the newspaper box at least and maybe feeling better about herself, but nope, she misses completely. On Hinata's return, well Gabriel turtles, completely turtles, curling into a mid air ball as she gets rival launched and actually coming out of it pretty well.

Well, since Hinata is already doing her best to not get hit by things and it worked out pretty well last time, Hinata makes another attempt to roll out of the way.
She doesn't.
It kind of hurts.
Now looking rather scuffed up from getting knocked around, and her uniform stained by street stuff most likely. Hinata isn't exactly happy. There's a shoe print on her vest! This isn't acceptable! It's going to take time to get this uniform cleaned and she's only got so many of them! Especially because she refuses to actually wear the winter uniform, regardless of the change in weather!
Now surging forth with energy and annoyance at having someone not only try to beat her with a lead parasol, but also messing up her uniform, Hinata lunges forward, drops low, locks her arm back. "THAT'S IT! YOU'RE GOING TO HAVE TO PAY TO CLEAN MY UNIFORM!" she shouts as an unusual battle cry, launching herself up like a spinning rocket as her arm is bathed in chi as she aims a spiralling uppercut at the base of Gabriel's jaw!

He's not sure if anyone heard him or not at this point, after a good minute or so of 'hiding' (which mostly consisted of pulling whatever of the production tent nearby he could over him). But after realizing nothing else his happening, Brett turns back around toward the fight. Just in time to see Hinata try a spiraling uppercut against her older opponent. Eyes widen, impressed and slightly in awe at Hinata's technique...before he has to remind himself why he's come here. "...right. Anyone? WHo's in charge, please?" he calls out again.
He has to stop this farce before it gets even more out of control than it already is.
Looking satisfied, Gabriel just stands there and listens to Hinata for once.
"Well yes, I would be paying to have your uniform clean, of course you don't expect me to clean it myse-blarg" She gets nailed square in the face.
It's not entirely fair, she did kind of try to block it, with her face, which is apparently a bad idea. Supposedly you can move your forehead to the path of a punch, but Gabriel right about now wouldn't recomend it.
"You cretin, I was talking!" she exclaims, ignoring the attempts to figure who is in charge here.
"I will educate you, repent, child!" Gabriel exclaims bitterly and aims a palm thrust at Hinata.

Clearly nobody messes with Hinata's uniform! It's very important to not go around looking gross and messy in your school uniform because you are representing your school, and there's been enough trouble lately with people making Taiyo look bad or making weird accusations.
Oh, and when Gabriel attempts to palm Hinata gain, she doesn't seem very interested in accepting that, this time quickly hopping to the side to avoid it, leaving Gabriel to grab at nothing.
"Nothing you say isn't crazy, you loon! Prom isn't a sinful thing, they do it every year!" This is Hinata's first year of high school, she really isn't in the mood to let some whacko start trying to ruin everything already! She plants both arms on Gabriel's shoulder and then hops up, pulling her legs in tight until they're right above the weird woman's head, at which point she slams both down as hard as she can to launch herself over Gabriel, and to put Gabriel's face in the pavement.

With the scrum reaching a fever pitch, Brett finds himself even more desperate to find who the heck he can talk to. "Please...anyone...a producer, an assistant, even the caterer? Please?" he asks, rather panickedly looking for someone to politely request shutting things down. Or at the very least detach his name from this farce.
Of course, when you ask nicely, it's easy for someone to ignore you. And at this point, a lot of someones seem to not notice the presence of the man of the hour.
Which only frustrates Brett even more. Enough to actually raise his voice for a moment and ignore just how embarrassed he is about this entire thing. "DON'T I GET A SAY IN WHO I WANT TO GO TO A DANCE WITH? I Don't want people fighting over me like this? I mean...literally fighting over me!"
Whatever happens here...this is going to make for a rather strange conversation with Ma and Pa back home.
.... every... year?
Every..? Year?
"You mean.. Every year, students get together and break into fights that result in them pulling each other's hair, pushing, messing up their clothes, getting in close proximiting, accidentally contact kissing and sneaking into phone booths and sinning?! " Another drop of blood from her nose, followed by another and then suddenly her nose is just leaking blood.
"I ahh," Gabriel says, tries to attack with a rather half hearted thrust of her palm but instead she gets drilled in the head with the pavement.
Brett's voice does manage to carry fairly well over the brawl. Possibly because at this point only about a fourth of the original participants are still up and standing, with quite a few of the hopeful young ladies having bowed either by word and deed or by simply being too unconcious to hold onto their entry. Most of them actually look up from their current fight, many bruised and bleeding.
From inside the cafe, Austin finally peeks up from behind the counter as the chaos begins to quiet, hopeful that, perhaps, the madness has finally come to an end.
Of course, that doesn't really apply to Hinata, who only showed up to show support for her friend Brett and ended up fighting a woman who seems to think that really bad things are going on here.
"Yes! Prom happens every year! It's part of high school! I mean, most of the stuff you think happens probably doesn't, but it's annual!" Hinata shouts as she lands back on the ground. She pauses there, thinking that, perhaps, Gabriel might have gotten over her craziness with that bit of information. That isn't to say that she does nothing, she watches carefully in case it's not over yet.

Well, he got some folks attention, that's a sign. Not sure if it's a good or a bad sign, but it's a sign. Brett looks mortified, both at the scene, even seeing some nearly unconscious girls lift their heads up to look toward him, and the fact that he had to yell like that. It's all not a very good situation for him.
Untensing, after realizing his shoulders had hitched up as he shouted, the Gorin student sighs and rubs the back of his neck. "I'm....f-flattered so many people actually wanted a date with me, but isn't this just all too...I don't want girls beating themselves up over me just for...you know, a dance and...." The more he tries to speak, the more clams up, as he never really thought through past 'talk to production'.
"Um..." He then looks over toward HInata as she pauses to apparently correct Gabriel on something, the other woman paused for a moment after a thwarted attack. A bad idea, considering he just finds himself even more embarrased. This must be what it's like to be put in a spotlight.
"I....I....Hinata, would you like to go to the dance with me?!" he finally shouts, hoping to cut the entire thing off by doing what he should've done a while ago. Even if he only gets the gumption at perhaps the worst possible time ever.
Every year..
More blood begins to flow more freely.
Despite getting the pavement fed to her, Gabriel is tstill picking herself up and fixating on that one concept.
"I must end this sinful affair!" Gabriel explains in near desperation before admitting, in a much quieter voice,
"No one ever asked me out to a dance in high school. . . "
But before anyone can feel bad for her she tries to do a chi infused attack at Hinata's nose, palm thrust, of course.

Oh, there's Brett. Did he show up because one of the girl's had won? They'd all stopped fighting, which suggests that's a good sign.
In her current situation, locked in combat with a crazy woman who seems to have some serious beef with people having a good time at a dance, Hinata misses most of the little speech that the hockey player is giving, only really catching up when she catches the sound of her name.
"What?" It's not so much a confused sound so much as if she didn't quite pick it all up at first. Crazy person fighting and all. And right about the time she processes it, Gabriel is suddenly back up and attempting to break her nose or something.
With an incredible motion, Hinata whips her arms up in front of her, absorbing the blow as best she can with her arm warmers.
"One second, Brett!" She shouts before turning back toward Gabriel and then lunging forward with her fist cocked back, firing it forward in a gut blow aimed to double Gabriel over that the girl from Taiyo follows up with a straight up kicked aimed for Gabriel's chin.

"Don't make me say it again," Gabriel says in a quiet voice,
"I've never had a prom date. I've.. never had a date!"
She moves effortlessly (just barely) Out of the way of Hinata's assault before passion returns to her voice.
"You see, so that is how I know it is full of sin and I must save these children, how I must save the world!" Tears bead in Gabriel's eyes and stream down her cheeks as she attempts to jump onto Hinata's shoulders and blast her in the face with chi.

Well...he tried.
Which just makes the non-response Brett gets from HInata even more deflating. All that lead up, build up...and she's too busy fighting off the crazy woman to hear him. Slumping down, Brett just finds somewhere to sit...which happens to be the sidewalk near the production tent, running a hand over his head nervously. He doesn't have it in him to look at the girls who have nearly knocked themselves out (or the ones that literally have, for that matter), instead focusing on Hinata and Gabriel. He's tempted to shout toward them again to repeat himself....
But instead...he decides to save it. Cupping his hands, he shouts instead, "GO FOR IT!" toward her, hoping to encourage her on as she fights. It's the best he can do right now....
Okay, not good. Hinata doesn't quite manage to take care of business like she'd been hoping to, and now finds herself facing down a still very angry opponent. She ends up having to roll a good distance away from Gabriel in order to avoid taking a beating. This isn't good.
"What the heck excuse is nobody wanting to date you?! You can't go around beating people up just because you're jealous of them!" Hinata shouts furiously as she rights herself back up.
"How would you know proms and dates are full of sin if you've never even had one?" Without waiting for Gabriel to offer any sort of answer, Hinata pushes right back into the fray as she swings her right fist right at Gabriel's chest, avoiding any more head blows for the moment in case that's the cause of the woman's craziness.

"Enough of this!" Gabriel says, looking utterly beyond polite conversation.
Gabriel moves to meet the fist at her chest. She tries to move through it to strike Hinata with her palm thrust in the nose, but instead she gets caught before she can reach Hinata and falls backward onto the ground. There is a moment when you can maybe almost imagine the crazy thoughts in her head. . .But probably it is better you down.
A trickle of blood comes fromher nose. . and yet, that isn't where she was punched.
...Well, that's over.
At this point, all of the brawl has sort of died down. It's kind of hard to keep fighting to try to get someone to take you to prom when they just asked another girl out right in front of you. Especially when that girl just beat up a crazy woman with a lead parasol. That's pretty much mission over.
Austin, for his part, is beginning to wonder which part of the planning commitee will be taking the blame for setting up a match for somebody who already had a date in mind, and makes a promise to himself that it won't be him.
With the fight finally over and Gabriel looking as though she's not likely to come back up, Hinata drops out of her fighting mindset and goes back to energetic school girl, despite a messed up uniform and a number of bruises all over her.
"Sorry, Brett, I was a bit distracted, what did you ask me?"
As the fight comes down to the last hit, Brett finds himself holding his breath....and when Hinata gets the final hit in and Gabriel seems to go down for the count, he really can't help but let out a loud cheer for Hinata. It's just natural, considering how much he wanted to see her win. Mind...he doesn't realize whether or not she was included in the whole thing anyways, he just wanted to see her win because.....
When Hinata finally finishes up and calls toward her, he straightens up, standing from the sidewalk and looking over toward her as well. "Um...." He suddenly feels like a spotlight really is on him. "....did you want to go to the dance with me?" he asks her, this time not having to shout over the sounds of fighting. It's a good thing he said it too, considering the signal for the end of the fight seems to go off right around then.
It takes a good bit to makes Hinata of all people go into a stunned silence; at the very least she usually has some sort of smart-alec quip if nothing else. However, now she's sort of on the reverse end of the usual taunting with Natsu.
"...Wait, you mean Natsu wasn't just trying to tease me back for all those times I told her that she should ask Shoma out?" Okay, that's probably not the answer a boy wants to hear right away. Certainly it's not a "yes" or a "no," and therefore it merely extends the uncomfortable wait.
"...Sure, that sounds like fun," Hinata beams a bright sunshine smile at Brett as she finally cuts him loose from waiting. "Although, if asking people to lunch is how you ask someone out in America, you've got a lot to learn about how we do things in Japan."
Heat rises to Brett's cheeks as Hinata's stunned silence...then her flabberghasted response. "Er....no. Not lke...wait, huh?" Sawamura coming up interrupts Brett's own embarrassment with confusion. "I...um..." He just shakes his head, making a mental note about Shoma and Natsu for later. "I'm serious. I'd...love to go to the dance with you. For real," he says, just in time for fight promotoers to come closer to the two of them.
He goes eyes wide, trying to shoo them off with naught but and expression toward them. After all, this is an important moment. But finally...he gets a real answer, an answer that brightens up his expression right quiclky. "That's....great! Great, um...." He rubs the back of his head when she corrects him far as 'asking her out ot lunch'. "Well...I was trying to take it slower, you know? This isn't too natural to me, you know..." he says. "But...I guess that's out the window now, isn't it?"
Hinata giggles a bit at Brett's reaction and explanation, shaking her head slightly. "If you really wanted to go slow, you could have asked to exchange diaries. That's what we do in Japan." She doesn't mention that she did that with her only other boyfriend... the two never actually went on any dates, but they did exchange diaries for about a month when they were in middle school.
Then there's a bit of a pause before Hinata frowns. "...Well, now I don't know if my dress will match your suit for the dance. I was expecting to just go with Sakura... and probably Natsu, since she and Shoma aren't willing to admit their feelings, yet." She knits her brow thoughtfully for a bit before adding. "Well, I guess if you don't have a fancy suit it will look fine with a Taiyo blue dress."
The American tilts his head a little. "Exchange...diaries?" He asks quizzically. He doens't even have a diary...is he supposed to? SOmetimes, different customs are just weird. "I'll...um....keep that in mind next time," he says rather nervously. The fact that she accepted only does so much for his timidity that culture shock doesn't end up help reinforcing in part.
He goes silent when Natsu and Shoma come up again, something he's not sure he's qualified to really talk about, considering. Especially when he knows how....passionate Natsu gets about things. "Er....I'm not sure what kind of suit to wear, honestly," he says, looking down at the tux he's stuck in. "...this kinda came from the fight I just came out of myself. IT's...a long story."
"Yeah," Hinata replies quite enthusiasticly, much like everything else she does. "You both write in a diary every night, and then at least once a week you show them to the other person so that they can know what you've been thinking." There's a beaming smile as she adds, "You might like it, since you don't need to worry as much about talking, just writing down stuff."
She steps back for a bit to look at his suit. "Well, I think tuxedos are good... you just need to either wear a black tie or one that matches your date's dress." She pokes at his collar. "Maybe a blue flower, but as long as it doesn't clash."
Rubbing the back of his neck, Brett nods, with HInata telling him about the diary practice. "That's a....good idea. Maybe I should try that," he says, her smile up to him disarming him enough to smiies back at her....at least until he realizes the SNF crew are starting to close back in toward them. "Um....yeah. I'll keep the suit ideas in mind," he says, remembering her bringing up 'Taiyo Blue'.
"I'll....pick you up on Sunday then?" he says, getting more and more nervous as the crew gets closer, before backing away. "See you then?" he asks, backing away more and more and hoping the organizers don't try and do anything further. After all, they went far enough to organize a fight like this for his date....
