Luck

(last updated: 12/28/17)

The Luck stat measures how lucky or unlucky your character tends to be. This affects a wide variety of things, especially in combat. The various things Luck affects within combat are difficult to explain in any precise manner, as it touches on many different aspects.

Luck is different from the other stats in that it isn't a quantitative number. Rather, when you are not in a fight it will read '(no fight)' and is essentially neutral. Feel free to RP your luck as you imagine it might be for your character, though it needn't be a major part of your RP.

In a fight, you will see a rating displayed beside Luck that tells you just how things may go for you in the fight. People with bad Luck may find it harder to accomplish a great deal, while those with good Luck might have an easier time of things. Luck is only a small influence on the fight, however; do not expect that because your Luck is bad that you -will- lose the fight. You're just fighting fate as well as your opponent.

You can decide if you want your luck score to fluctuate or if you want to keep it sitting at 'Average' indefinitely.

The options available to you are:

LUCK/NONE

Select this if you want to keep your luck score fixed at Average. This means your luck score will never vary. You might see it change from 'Average' to 'Good' or 'Bad' if you happen to be up against someone who has low or high luck compared to you, but your personal luck score will never change from Average.

LUCK/VARIABLE

Selecting this will cause your luck score to change randomly each time you join a new fight. This luck score will stick with you throughout the fight, even when you state/load the fight later.

LUCK/WILD

Selecting this will cause your luck score to change randomly at the end of every turn. This means you can go from great to terrible luck and back and forth on every turn you take!

When you are out of combat, your 'Luck' stat will reflect your selected luck preference (None, Variable, Wild). In combat, 'Luck' will reflect how your luck score compares to the average luck score of everyone else in the fight.

Before you go and decide which luck setting you prefer, I want to emphasis that the impact of the Luck stat on actual attacks and reactions is fairly minimal. Even if you have Sucktastic levels of luck the chances that your luck score will be the deciding factor between success and failure is measured within the single digits of percentage. The real purpose for introducing this luck variability is more for fun than to cause fights to become randomly chaotic all because of crazy luck values.
