R3 OC Policy Update

Jackal
Hey guys, Real quick--going forward we won't be accepting applications for R3 for OC apps. There is a new process we've been experimenting with, and it's been working just fine, so I've decided to formalize it. The way it will work going forward is, you will apply for R2 or R1 as normal. You will not pick exactly where. We will determine where within those ratios you fall. Get out on the grid, do some scening, get your cherry. Once we get a chance to get a feel for the direction you're going with your character, we may then choose to allot a care package of extra ratio to help you build narratives. You cannot ask for this review yourself, and when or if it will happen is explicitly up to admin. The intention to allow characters to be R3 was for supporting players and characters who can then take that ball and build a good storyline from it. But our requirements ended up causing a lot of stress and grief for players who may not necessarily be comfortable with holding together plotlines from multiple other characters with minimal staff help, which is typically the expectation for R3. That's regrettably caused many characters to end up dead on arrival. Basically, the intention is to move more organically. Instead of asking you to write an app to an arbitrary and often ineffective set of guidelines, we're just going to go ahead and earmark you with R3 if and when you're running antagonist plots or getting storylines moving. Until the logs start rolling in, there is just no configuration of words that will combine for R3 at current. You still have to be a badass though. Preferably with emphasis on the 'antagonist.' That's part of the word badass, right? So, Dan will (probably) never make it to R3, no matter how many Saikyo Tournament mailers he sends out. Tell the truth, we're not even really sure how he got the ratio he does have. He must have stole it. Sorry Dan. - J
