[CSYS] Second Wind and Bug Fixes
Adjustments have been made to Second Wind, Parry, and Restore, as well as the Attune signature ability and EXTRADM1.
Update #1658 - Second Wind Adjustments
A couple of minor changes have been made to Second Wind:
- Damage you inflict on yourself through mechanics such as NOVA, OVERBURN,
TRANCE, and DRIVEN no longer count as 'damage received' when calculating
your chance to fire Second Wind.
The spirit of Second Wind is getting back up in the face of adversity
inflicted by your opponent, not yourself, and the fact that self-damage
was contributing to its chance to fire felt contrary to the design intent
of the ability.
- Reserve gained through ticks of A RESTORE and S RESTORE no longer contribute
to your chance for Second Wind to fire.
The odds of SW firing are determined by two key aspects:
How much damage did you take over how few rounds?
More damage and fewer rounds results in higher odds of firing.
How much reserve do you have out of 100% reserve?
The more reserve you have, the better chance to 'buy' the SW proc.
The intent has always been that RESTORE and SECOND_WIND don't play nice with
each other. We don't ban the combination, but we also don't want the
combination to be ideal either. This is the entire reason RESTORE has
a reserve cost at ranks D through B in the first place.
However, once you hit A and S RESTORE, then RESTORE was helping keep
your reserve closer to 100% which is helping improve your SW odds,
i.e., the opposite of the desired interplay between the two abilities.
Going forward, the reserve A and S RESTORE feed you no longer helps
your chances for SW to fire.
That is all for now.

Update #1660 - Bug Fixes and Tweaks
The following mechanics adjustments have been made:
- It was possible to get a PARRY proc while in the post-hyper CRASH
state. This was not how it was supposed to happen. Now it won't happen.
- You will no longer get super for being attuned to someone you land an
EXHAUST super against.
- Going forward, you can no longer get any recovery bonuses if you have
RESTORE. This means procs from CALM, DM/RECOVERY, ENERGIZE supers,
etc., will no longer restore any health to you. Generally speaking,
these mechanics only provided a very small amount of HP anyway if you
have RESTORE and the logic underlying it was confusing enough that I
doubt anyone understood what it was supposed to be doing.
In addressing some other bugs with recovery bonuses and RESTORE, I
decided that the couple of HP you could get from the recovery
bonuses wasn't worth the headache they created in the code and
simplified it by making it so you can't get recovery bonuses if you
have RESTORE.
This is a small nerf to RESTORE, but the ability is strong enough that
it can withstand the adjustment without really becoming any less
desired.
- A gap in the matrix allowed you to get EXDM1 for free if you picked it
up during chargen as one of your first two DMs. That is no longer
the case. The dojo will now properly enforce that you need 2 DM
choices other than EXTRADM1 before you can add EXTRADM1 as was always
intended.
Enjoy your latest round of adjustments. If any of them are not to your liking, blame the giant Prinny that has recently invaded.
