Minor changes to Web Profiles

Kobun
Hi, folks! We can tell that a good number of you have returned from image-hunting expeditions with plenty of trophies to display on your web profiles (http://motm.kicks-ass.net/profiles/)! Thank you all for adding some splashes of color to your profiles, these have been great! We do have a few changes to announce though. Some of you have run into these changes already -- sorry for any inconvenience. - HOTLINKING - Some websites don't want sites like MotM to "remote link" or "hotlink" their images. These sites will either replace the image you selected with a grumpy "don't hotlink me, bro!" image -- or block the image outright. Most websites don't get ad revenue when images are linked remotely. So, in respect of this we've prevented a handful of sites from being used in image URLs going forward. The list is not fixed in stone; if we find other image hosts digging their heels in, we may add them to the list too. - SIZE LIMIT - MotM's web profiles are intended to give people who've never seen your character a chance to see what they look like. We're glad that pictures are getting added! We have found, though, that the middle ground between "no pictures" and "gosh, that's a whole lot of pictures" feels like about [20] pictures. So, moving forward, profile galleries will be limited to [20] pictures. If you have over 20, consider yourself grandfathered in -- just keep in mind that you won't be able to add new pictures until the total number's under 20 again. - FUTURE - For now we are keeping an eye on animated gifs and exceptionally large images. If the site starts looking like a 1990s-era Angelfire or Geocities, additional measures may be taken. Buuut we've been working hard to wrangle P-Body's <blink>, <marquee> and Unicode character terrorism under control. It's exhausting work, and we need to pick our battles. [o_o];; Again -- thanks for taking part in this grand experiment of ours! -k

Policy Change for Adding Attacks

GLaDOS
Going forward, adding attacks via the Dojo costs a flat 8 AP regardless of the attack's configuration. AP Refund checks have been issued to anyone who ever spent more than 8 AP to add attacks or who spent AP on modifying existing attacks on their OCs. In addition, refund checks were issued to anyone who spent any AP at all to add attacks to FCs. This is largely because now days we build FC attack lists out to the maximum alloted by their ratio when filling them whenever possible, so it's not fair for players who added attacks back before we did that to lose out on AP from doing so. Going forward, if you want to add an attack to your FCs, it might be free or it might cost you 8 AP. This decision is up to staff discretion. If you ever want to chat about it, ping GLaDOS or Wheatley regarding the move you want to get added and we'll make a call. Ultimately, we decided the cost of building out attacks was too high. We also felt that generally, the configuration of attacks is self balancing based on the build so a flat AP tax of 8 for each new attack felt more appropriate. Enjoy! -GLaDOS

Activity Policy Update

GLaDOS
A new line has been added to the Info file regarding activity: - If an FC is apped for and then goes 8 weeks without getting a single scene, the FC will be opened automatically. This policy takes effect starting tomorrow. Current FCs on the auto-open list are: Vice Taokaka Orchid Smoke -GLaDOS
