RTZI Round 1: "The Show Must Go On" Recap

Pringer X
With no indication of rescue forthcoming for the stranded NFG crew after their way off the island was destroyed by Junko, Tom and Lou have decided that the tournament must continue due to contractual obligations with Professional Fighting Worldwide, hoping that someday soon the recordings by Steve the tech guy's stalwart crew will make their way to the NFG fandom. The first round of the elimination tournament will see the Rhythm Renegades face off against Might & Magic on the beach of Bass Island, with Phantasmagoria facing off against Martial Arts & Crafts inside Moonlight Reef on the island when the tide is in. The Rhythm Renegades (Sarah and Rodrigo) v Might & Magic (Iris and Albert) (Bass Island) Phantasmagoria (Zarine and Homura) v Martial Arts & Crafts Genie and Arisa (Moonlight Reef) While the bottom four teams compete for a spot in the quarterfinals, the other six NFG teams are instead assigned the important task of collecting supplies for everyone. The good news is that vending machines have been located that promise preservative-filled sustenance. The bad news is that they operate exclusively on Zack Coins. However, it seems that the island's former owner has left behind opportunities for these coins to be earned by those who participate in the island's offerings. OOC Note: Resolution of these scenes is up to the players. The expectation is that each scene will result in four coins being acquired to be distributed equally, and therefore each player can earn one coin for participation. In the cases of the keijo and volleyball matches, players can roll to determine the result. In the case of the search of the cottages, players can roll to determine the order in which they find the coins. (There will be one coin per cottage.) Toxique (Coco and Roxana) with Shock and Roll (Kenzo and Ishida) (Pool) - Keijo for Coins Investigating the poolside area, Team Toxique and Shock and Roll discover a list of rules for competitive Keijo. Along with it, they find a cache of four Zack Coins behind shatterproof glass. A note from Zack informs that whoever can win a keijo match will be rewarded with the coins. The pool has been set up with automated sensors to detect keijo competition - which means, presumably, that the coins will only be released after a mighty butt-battle on the available platforms. Will these four brave souls be willing to engage in such a controversial sport for the sake of a few Zack Coins? Atlantis (Chevy and Tanwen) with Hollywood Heat (Hawksley and Henry) (Seabreeze Cottages) - Looting for Lucre The four Seabreeze Cottages are sitting empty waiting for the island-goers to serve as additional housing to the local hotels. They also seem like a very likely place for Zack to have hidden his coins. As any good adventurer knows, the first step in any journey is to loot the nearby houses for valuables. Perhaps they'll find some useful supplies as well, though food seems less likely. Thundercats (Braun and Skye) with Wild Things (Buck and Max) (Niki Beach) - Volleyball for Victuals A sign posted on a tree on Niki Beach next to the volleyball net indicates that the winner of the first volleyball match on the beach will be shown the location of buried treasure. The treasure map, hidden in a shatterproof safe, will only be released when the nearby sensors detect that an Xtreme beach volleyball match has taken place on the premises. Will these four brave souls be willing to engage in such a controversial sport for the sake of a few Zack Coins? (Continued in next post!)

RTZI: Tag Team Rules & Zack Coins

Pringer X
Teams of two will be competing against each other in a single-elimination format. However, every team will have an opportunity for a Bonus Round cooperative story event each week after being eliminated, which is how the sinister story beneath the sunshiney veneer of Zack Island: Site B will unfold. Teams are recommended to set each other as allies before the tournament begins, which will boost their ability to +assist each other in combat. Tag Team Rules: One player from each side should roll for initiative. One player from the winning team should pose and act, followed by both members from the other team posing and acting. Then, the second player from the winning team should pose and act, before returning to the first player from the winning team. In other words, the winning team gets first action, but only with one member, before teams transition to acting in pairs. Each player may only target their opposite (mentor vs mentor, newbie vs newbie) until their opponent has been Knocked Out. The only exceptions are the Assist action or Healer attacks, which are permitted. Keep in mind that the Assist action or Healer will effectively mean that your own opponent gets a free turn! When one player on the opposing team has been eliminated, the remaining members are permitted to attempt a teamup attack against the remaining opponent. However, the remaining player is also permitted to make a single 'Area of Effect' attack using any attack in their movelist against both opponents in order to try and turn things around. To attack two opponents at once, use the syntax attack =. This is specifically permitted in this situation; at all other times, unless explicitly stated otherwise, Area of Effect attacks are only allowed with permission from all affected opponents. Tiebreakers: Traditionally these have been determined based on who took the most damage beyond 0 HP in singles tournament matches for NFG. Whichever characters are KOed in the final round will compare final HP; whoever has the highest health will be assumed to get up first and take the win. So, say that Ryu and Ken attack Zangief after his partner, Rainbow Mika, has been KOed earlier in the match. Zangief endures Ryu's Hadouken and is hit by Ken's Shoryuken, then Final Attacks both with Ultimate Atomic Buster. Ryu blocks and Ken is hit. Their final HP totals are: Ryu: -10 Ken: -30 Zangief: -25 In this case, Ryu has the highest HP and his team would win. Rainbow Mika's final HP is irrelevant as she's already been knocked out. However, if Ryu had also been hit cleanly and left with -30 HP, Zangief would have won. Zack Coins: Earned Zack Coins will be translatable directly to NFG points at the end of the event. Zack Coins have been hidden throughout the island. They could be found in statues that need to be broken, inside bird nests in trees, stuck in Zack Coin vending machines, or hidden inside the various venues. Players are allowed to earn a Zack Coin each round by completing a scene with their NFG partner in addition to scheduled competitive and cooperative scenes, where it will be up to them how the pair manages to find the Zack Coins. These can involve additional participants. Zack Coins will also feature in the Loot System for this event, additional details of which will be provided in coming rounds! (Continued in next post!)

RTZI Round 1: Additional Info

Pringer X
Greetings, doodz! First off, I'd like to thank you all for bearing with me throughout my month-long reign of secrecy, spoiler tags, surprise villain appearances, and scenes with twenty-seven mentions of the word 'keijo.' I hope that you'll enjoy this hybrid tournament/cooperative story-driven scenario. In a TP that has already proven to hold more than it said on the tin, I can only say: Things are going to get crazier. If that sounds good to you, and you haven't already signed up, there will be one more chance to join in on the story side of things. For thematic reasons, this +signup is still only available to NFG competitors. It's encouraged that you find a partner if you're interested. Any players who choose to join this way will arrive at the starting of the next round. Just remember that ICly, everyone on the island is currently stuck until the end of the TP. However, this doesn't mean that time-displaced scenes can't happen if necessary, though island RP is encouraged. Tom, Lou, and Steve the Tech Guy are also on the island, along with a crew of camera operators who can be assumed to be following the fighters around most of the time. Otherwise, there are no known NPCs to be found. There are, however, a strangely large number of meerkats. Some team names have been automatically assigned, and players who would like their team name changed will need to get in touch with me by the end of the round. The following areas of Zack Island can currently be considered open for RP: Niki Marina Casino And the following areas will be considered open after the official scenes have concluded: Niki Beach Bass Island Moonlight Reef Pool Seabreeze Cottages Additional areas will open in rounds to come as the NFG fighters explore deeper into the island and its secrets. A general 'Zack Island' stage has been created for players who want to RP in areas that are occupied by another scene. All matches are due end-of-day SUNDAY, JUNE 16TH, with a view to providing longer rounds for tag team scheduling. As always, if you have concerns regarding scheduling or anything else, please contact me by @mail or Discord DM. - Pringer X
