NFG Season One Round 4: RUUUUMBBBLLLE!!!

The display on the screen behind Tom and Lou shifts as the camera stops shaking and the two slump back in their chairs. ================================ NFG - RUMBLE ================================ Order of Entry Nixie - 1st Hawksley - 2nd Coco - 3rd Tamaki - 4th John Doe - 5th Djamila - 6th Kenzo - 7th Sarah - 8th Genie - 9th Ichika - 10th Buford - 11th Chevy - 12th Ayala - 13th Iris - 14th Buck - 15th Brian Storm - 16th ============================================================================== LOU: (unconvincingly) "What's this, Tom? The standings have mysteriously transformed into an... order of entry?" TOM: (more convincingly) "That's right, Lou! They've turned into the order of entry for the inaugural New Fighting Generation RUMBLE!" LOU: "Hey, you're right! So, how will this RUMBLE work?" TOM: "I'm glad you asked, Lou! So, our competitors will enter the ring at the DRAGON ARENA one at a time, with the fighter with the most points entering first, and the one in last place entering last! The goal is to last as long as possible in the ring without being eliminated!" LOU: "I get it! So it's a little like that totally innovative Royal Rumble that Professional Fighting Worldwide put on for Pringer X's birthday!" TOM: "Yep! It's Pringer X's birthday again, so in honour of the fictionalized Mecha-Prinny, the NFG will celebrate by putting on another chaotic last-fighter-standing melee!" LOU: "But what are the stakes? Surely there can only be one winner?" TOM: "It's more nuanced than that, Lou! The first fighter eliminated gets one NFG point! The second, two NFG points! All the way up to the winner, who will earn a whopping 16 NFG points!" LOU: "Good grief! And with the first place fighters entering first and the last place entering last, this could really shake up the standings!" TOM: "That's why they call it a RUMBLE, Lou!" LOU: "You know what? I'm hyped up for this!" TOM: "Well, then, you'll want to hear about how it works!" (Continued in next post!)

NFG Season One Round 4: RUMBLE OOC Info

Pringer X
The RUMBLE will officially begin on SUNDAY, JULY 30TH. The Rumble will start with the first entrants (Nixie and Hawksley) each posing in and +joining in turn. Play will then proceed with Nixie taking first action. Hawksley will then take second action. Then, Coco (the third entrant) will +join the fight and take her turn. Play will return to the top of the turn order with Nixie. At the end of each round, the next entrant will join and take their first action before play returns to the start of the round. Order will need to be tracked in order to ensure that no one acts out of turn. This is always the case, but to make sure it's clear: in multi-opponent scenes, reactions should not be taken until the beginning of your turn in the order. As mentioned before, order of elimination will determine the scoring for the event. If players aren't online when their turn arrives, they should be notified ASAP via Discord or, if not possible, by @mail. There will be a 24-HOUR LIMIT to acknowledge having received such a notification (this should be delivered to Pringer X by @mail or in the #nfg chat on Discord). If the player doesn't acknowledge the notification or pose within the time limit, they will be penalized (full details of penalties will be determined and announced prior to the beginning of the event but could include automatic elimination). If the notification is acknowledged, the player will have a total of 48 HOURS from when their turn began to pose before penalties will be levied. These rules are in place to enforce timeliness in completing the RUMBLE. Rumble placement is only relevant to individual points standings and not team points standings. Therefore, players should be prepared to consider the RUMBLE as 'every person for themselves.' More details on this will be announced during the IC introduction to the RUMBLE on Sunday. (Oooh?) This actually worked very well last time a similar event ran with random FCs and I'm hoping it will be even more enjoyable for the NFG fighters. Please get in touch with me if for any reason you feel that you need to opt out of the RUMBLE. Otherwise, please look forward to it! Thanks, doodz! - Pringer X

RUMBLE Lateness Penalty Codification

Pringer X
Late Entrance: The penalty will be a (5% x current round) health reduction after +joining per round of lateness. This would mean that if someone were supposed to enter on round 4 and arrived on round 5, they would lose 20% health. If they arrived on round 6, they would lose 45% health. If they would lose 100% or more of their health, they will be considered not to have participated. This is intended to make being 'tactically late' non-viable (keep in mind that super will not be provided for the lost health) while not punishing players who are legitimately late with instant elimination (which would have been the other alternative). The reason for the scaling damage is that latter-round late entrances 1) should be more avoidable and 2) will tend to have more opponents in the ring who could have been targeting the late party. Missed Turn: If a player has already joined but misses the acknowledgement and/or pose windows: 1st Penalty: The player missing their turn will be forced to accept all attacks in their queue and pass. 2nd Penalty: The player will be forced to accept all attacks in their queue and then unjoin. The 2nd penalty exists as an equalizing measure. The 1st penalty is harsher for players who have multiple attacks in their queue than those who have fewer or none. The 2nd is to avoid situations where a player who is repeatedly or extendedly absent remains in the competition due to not being targeted. (After all, players whose characters are being targeted are doing something right!)
