Call from the Farm

Buck
Buck sets down the freeweight as the laptop on his hotel room desk began to ding softly, looking over to the clock on the nightstand he blinked. Was it that late already? Moving over to the desk, he answers the call, grinning at the face that popped up on the screen, who looks like Buck with about 8 more years, shorter hair, and a short beard, sitting in a familiar kitchen. "There's my little bro!" The man says in a booming voice that's perhaps a bit more loud than is actually necessary. "Hey, Bear." Buck replies, unable to keep his grin from his face. "Just you?" "I'm here, too!" Comes a more feminine voice with a similar accent before a short, blonde-haired head pops into view besides Bear. "'Course you'd be, Macy. How's my little nephew?" The question pulls a momentary sour expression from Macy, who smacks Bear on the shoulder. "Lazy as his dad and not so little. If he waits any longer I'm going to have words with the doc." She places a hand on a belly just in view, beaming proudly despite her words. "Should be any day now." "Sorry I'm going to miss it." Buck says with a soft sigh. "First of the next generation, I should be there." "Don't be silly." Macy reassures. "You're exactly where you should be." Bear says almost on top of her. "We saw your fight. The whole family did. Even Pa has given up his grumblin' and was cheerin' you on. Beau's been your most loyal fan, he's catching everything that pops up online. Boone's not far behind. They're making a video of everything to show Junior once he's old enough." Buck blushed a little at the thought of his two other brothers being his fans. "It was just one fight. And I think I lucked out a little." "And the fight against the sword girl, and the one in the soup kitchen." Bear says counting off on his fingers. "You got your family rootin' for you. So you just keep on fightin' and we'll have a big old bar-b-que to celebrate when you get back home." "I'd like that." Buck agrees with a small, more relaxed smile.
