SNF 2008.11 - Batman? Blanka/Frei vs Kula/Marisol

Description: It's the Caped Crusader and his Boy Wonder against Miss(?!) Freeze and a highly reluctant Poison Ivy who just wanted to see Christian Bale. Oh, dear. (Winners: Kula and Marisol)

Gotham City, home of skullduggery and black lights with neon! This is a odd, eclectic mix of styles, Geese Howard somehow managing to bankroll Nolan /and/ Schumaker to work together on another Batman 'movie'. Not having been told that this was just for a single fight, and then to be cancelled, they'd gone all out on the set, giving it both the best and worst of their respective series. The city alternates between gritty, worn down decay and backlit, blacklighted awesome. The alleys have neon-painted thugs with hockey sticks and scruffy crazy people with bad clothing and knives. All in all, it's a mish-mash of costume and clashing style that looks..

Ok, it looks hideous.

Theoretically, Blanka would not have fared much better. The suits he was given a choice of wearing were only two - one, the Nolan-verse armor pads and sharp bits, the other the foam-rubber can't move your neck' version. The choice was moot, though - as Blanka had a surprise for the two directors. A surprise that few would have expected. Few could have understood. Unless, like.. they'd known Blanka for more than two minutes.

Blanka's Batman outfit is based off the Adam West version. Lovingly hand-sewn by the green giant, he wears the grey stretchy outfit, blue underoos, and blue cape and cowl. The green of his skin is a scary contrast, but he's willing to ignore it. His hair is too much for the cowl, and the back is ripped off, with his hair going 'foof' out the back. At his waist is a giant arootility belt, and he idly fingers a pouch as he waits and looks. Off-'set', he calls towards his teammate, while the cameras spin up. Once they're completely set, and the dingy alley that will be their 'scene' is ready, he calls out for his teammate.

"Aroobin! Aroobin! Blan... Batman have to fight villains, old chum!"

Great minds think alike? Or possibly, fools never differ.

If Frei's participation in SNFs have proven anything, it's that he's a huge nerd. He's dressed up as that girl from the 'Shoes' video, as a Rag Rappy, and at one point even as Alma Towazu. He's done karaoke and all sorts of other things. So a fight based on Batman? How could he NOT get into it?! And they even provided the costumes... kinda. Although he liked Batman Begins (let's face it, the Scarecrow was kinda hot a little bit) and Tim Burton's version was neat and kinda dark and stuff but the classic version is always best. So he too decided to throw his own costume in the ring, coming in the Mike and Ike's-colored bright spandex version.

Moo ha ha.

He's never met Blanka before, but he's heard about the beastman; after all, Frei is one of Kentou's teachers. Thus the @_@! factor of meeting the green giant is mitigated somewhat... well, that and he's dressed as BATMAN for god's sake. Leaping onto the stage with a swirl of dark green cape, his own utility belt swinging, he strikes a valiant pose. "Holy Batman, Batman!" he says cheerily, waving at the crowd and at Blanka.

A pause.

Grimacing a little, he shuts his eyes and clears his throat. A couple times. "Spandex... such a good idea *in theory*..."

In the middle of history class, Marisol received a text message.

'Call us. SNF. Need replacement.'

Though it had been a while since she'd last participated, and a week or so after she more or less gave BACK the Contender's belt, citing she was growing 'increasingly bored' with the lack of real challenges, there was still a little bit of interest. A phone call and a few relayed return calls later, she received her 'orders' from the SNF coordinators. A plane trip later, Marisol was in Cardington, Bedfordshire.

Several hours before the match, Marisol was swiftly briefed on the match-to-be. It was a dream come true for the fiery half-Spaniard: a Batman-themed SNF. INCLUDING help from Nolan--she conveniently forgot they mentioned Schumacher somewhere in there. Most people have probably forgotten about his Batman atrocities anyway. Suffice to say, 'Nolan' and 'Batman' being mentioned led to one presumption from the half-Spaniard.

"OHMYGOD! WHERE IS CHRISTIAN BALE!?"

Arriving on the set, Marisol looks like a garden grew on her. Wearing a one-piece bathing suit-like affair adorned with ivy leaves and a few green sequins for color in the brilliant neon lights, along with a pair of knee-high boots and her hair curled more than usual with ivy in it, it's clear precisely WHO her role is. But she doesn't care; instead, the girl wanders hurriedly into the Gotham set, gray eyes anxiously searching over everything and everyone present.

"Oh my god, oh my god. Is he here? Is he HERE?? I have to meet him!!"

At this point one would almost think she'd forgotten why she's here. But she is HERE and that's what matters most.

...right?

"Oh man I need his autograph! I need to shake his hand. OH MAN!!"

Preparing for matches that revolve around cultural icons, past and present, always requires some research and preparation on the part of one overly sheltered teenaged killer. But Kula Diamond had enough advance warning about the premise. She was going to be a criminal. Again. Apparently the event organizers wanted to make up for the fact that her stint as the Malevolent Maid got cut short when Seishirou decided to interfer in the match.

Very well. If she was going to be a villain, she needed to learn all about this fictional crime fighting duo and their nefarous foes ahead of time. With some help from Angel in securing 'unauthorized viewing material', she had done her homework for this match. And she was ready. Her partner makes it to the staged set first, leaving Kula to be the last one to walk out in front of the cameras.

But when she does so, she isn't in any hurry. Striding into view, the teen fighter is cool, composed, confident. She's also very blue. Her hair has always taken on a strange, frosty hue when she fights anyway, but this time she's completely blue. A blue, long sleeved body suit covers her figure, her long sleeves tucked into lighter blue, insulated gloves. Her face, her only visible skin, has been painted blue as well, contrasting strongly with the crimson hue her eyes bear.

She comes to a stop next to her excited partner, her right hand going to rest at her hip, her mouth an amused smirk as she looks over her opponents narrowly. "Allow me to break the ice. My name is Freeze." Her hand moves from her hip to rise up to her lengthy sky blue hair, brushing it back over her shoulder along with a lean of her head, before going back to resting at her hip, "Learn it well. For it's the chilling sound of your doom." Her left hand is lefted, palm up, before clenching into a fist that becomes immediately encrusted with quite visible ice for added dramatic effect.

Her eyes glance over Blanka for a moment before coming to rest on Frei. There's a flicker of recognition there - of course she remembers him from the YFCC when he fought valiantly to defend it. But it doesn't seem to break her out of her mimicked villian mindset either.

Yes, Frei - spandex is a scary thing indeed. What with the pinching and tugging, it may be hard to fight crime! However, if Adam West and Burt Ward could do it, gosh-darn it, Frei and Blanka shall just have to find a way! As the SNF coordinator calls the fight to a 'start', the Dynamic Duo are at one side of the stage, and the others at the opposite. It gives Blanka a bit of space to get up to full speed, and as soon as 'action!' is called, Blanka is moving with a heretofore unexpected urgency. There's a reason for it, and it has to do with the makeup team.

See - in their attempt to get 'authentic', the makeup team had used some special gloss and eyeliner, made from a very powewrful plant scent, native to the jungle of Brazil. Unfortuantely, this has affected Blanka in much the way that cats can turn hyper when given too much catnip, and he'd been trying to hold it back! However, with the start of the fight, he simply barrels towards Marisol, Batman in blue and grey galloping towards the Poison Ivy Pretender, his arms spread wide as if to try and catch her in his bestial grip! If he is able, he'll find out why it is not good to douse opponents wth plant scents, especially those scents that resemble the verdant and fruitful melon trees of Blanka's native country.

Cause they make him /hungry/.

Oh hey, it's that Irish-looking girl from the SNF with Hotaru. Marisol gets a little wave and a smile from Frei; even though the two didn't exchange many words, the YFCC instructor has some sympathy for her suffering at the hands of Choi, and thus some friendly feeling.

And speaking of the YFCC...

On the one hand, Kula's Mr. Freeze impression -- well, sans the Mr. which she clearly isn't -- is actually pretty neat, and he appreciates her getting into character. On the other hand, reconciling Kula's current fun-loving (or at least game) attitude toward this seems incongruous with her last meeting with Frei, e.g. her intent to kill or seriously injure him. The resulting cognitive dissonance makes him space out a little, snapping out of it only when his hulking green partner (WRONG COMIC PUBLISHER FREI, 10 DEMERITS) leaps at Ivysol.

Leaving him with Kula.

Hm.

"Well, uh... I guess it's you and me, then," he says evenly, reaching into his arootility belt (it's contagious) and whipping out... well, a batarang. Made of cheap plastic, but it might still sting a little if it connects!

COMBATSYS: Blanka successfully hits Marisol with Wild Fang.

Meanwhile, despite her frosty teammate's arrival, Marisol is still searching in vain for Christian Bale's presence on the faux-Gotham set. Wandering aimlessly around, she peers through alleyways and pokes her head through fake windows in a desperate hope that, by chance, she'll find the movie star and have her wish granted. Maybe even kidnap him and take him back to Pacific with her to show Pás. OH man that would make her so jealous.

All the while, Blanka is hungry apparently. And while he's hungry Marisol is thoroughly distracted--enough to suddenly find herself encased in massive blue-gray-green arms that vise themselves around her and squeeze her painfully. Startled, she blurts, "OH MY GOD, BALE???" But moments later--especially when a slobbery maw descends upon her and chomps into her head REAL PAINFULLY that it's not the movie star of her dreams.

It hurts. It really hurts.

Eventually, after some flailing and bleeding, Marisol pries herself out of the Brazilian monster's grip with a too horrified look on her face. Lifting an arm, the girl thrusts a green gloved finger at the man-beast as she exclaims, "That was gross and unsanitary! Oh my god I hope you were checked before the fight! What if you have hepatitis? Oh my god, who allows biting?! It's almost as gross as that jerk Kiryuu's blood-chi energy crap!" Lifting her arms, she tries in vain to fix her wet hair, looking horrified and disgusted at her newfound predicament.

"The smell..." she whines.

"Okay, now it's on!"

Charging forward, the girl curls a fist tightly and charges for the beastly Blanka, intent on punching him hard in the stomach. Should it connect, she'll quickly follow up by grabbing him by the head (fortunately not to eat him) and slam his face into her knee (ok that isn't any nicer) before she shoves back and swings a leg up, to kick him straight in the jaw.

"You better hope you didn't give me rabies!!"

COMBATSYS: Kula reflects Thrown Object from Frei with Counter Shell.

Kula - AKA Freeze - doesn't seem bothered at all at having to meet Frei in this context. As if the fact that she's not trying to kill him or leave a bloody message in the YFCC lobby /this/ time makes it okay. She almost seems to be faintly smiling behind that blue face-paint of hers. "For now," she replies to his observation. "But just one of you isn't alone to put a stop to my evil schemes. Better get your caped buddy over-"

Her voice cuts out as she notices Poison Marisol being attacked at her side. Too late to do anything about it, by the time she starts to turn, the girl has already pulled herself free from the rather and Kula decides that she doesn't need to leap to her side just now. Besides, they're bad guys. Bad guys don't help each other out! Shaking her head, she whirls back toward Frei just in time to see him put that batarang to use, sending the small object hurtling toward her.

She reacts remarkably quickly, taking a step back, sweeping her left hand through the air. "Nice try," Miss Freeze replies, leaving a wake of freezing particles in the wake of her sweep. "But your situation is hopeless against someone like me. Because," Her right hand extends forward secondly, pressing against the field of frigid energy at the same time the batarang comes in contact with it. "Because in this universe, there's only one absolute."

The field explodes, sending the weapon flying back at Frei, now encased with blue spikes of ice protruding from it, threatening to betray its owner with astonishingly fast velocity. "Everything freezes!"

It's probably not /quite/ as bad as blood-chi. Blanka slobber is pretty hygenic, and it's good for cleaning out cuts and scrapes! Which is good, cause people who get wild fang'd are quite commonly suffering from cuts and scrapes after he lets them go. Overcome as he is, he doesn't really snap out of it until 'Ivy' calls him out on his behavior - and for all the scents in the air, his rational mind is able to take over just a bit. He's done something bad! Oops!

As she comes in for the attack, Blanka steps forwards - he'll take the hits as they come, but with each hit, his body flickers blue and white - almost not enough for the camera to catch, but he's briefly charging his body with electricity, so that whenever Marisol's hands or feet catch him, she gets a pretty good shock. It still doens't allow him much leeway and there's a whole bunch of pain involved as he's kicked in the jaw and sent sprawling near 'Robin'. "Look out, Old Chum!!" he declares as he tries to get to his feet.

COMBATSYS: Kula successfully hits Frei with Reflected Thrown Object.

This does not work as planned.

Frei let himself get distracted, probably because Blanka's attack on Marisol breaks Batman continuity basically forever, and she is loud and he is all over the place and it was just ONE little batarang, she'll probably duck out of the way or something like that. So in fact when Kula sends the projectile right back at him, the chi sage is looking *somewhere else*. It's only when the thing is almost upon him that he feels the prickle on the back of his neck, and prepares to try and get out of the way when Bat-lanka warns him, and he stops, turning his head.

He gets out the word "Huh--" before the thing smacks into his face, the added weight and force of the ice bowling him over, literally.

It takes a second before he gets up, both hands up to his face, blinking. "Ow, by node..." he mutters, before bringing his hands down. That hurt! But he's got heroics to do! Pointing a finger at Kula with DRAMATIC! FLAIR! he starts charging her, running with his cape fluttering behind him. "Oh yeah?! Not everything freezes! Let's see you freeze ICE, smartypants!" Burt Ward is crying right now, FYI. Just saying.

The Faux Robin finishes this debacle up by attempting to kick Kula right in the jaw. Of course, there's an aura of frost around the kick, too. He DID ask her to freeze some, after all.

Just when Marisol thinks she has the Brazilian beast in her clutches--

He shocks the ever-loving hell out of her. Literally.

Just as her fist comes in to bean the man-beast the Batman-suited Blanka suddenly erupts with who knows how many volts of naturally-charged electricity, her world suddenly a shade of white and yellow as she's caught in the storm. Unable to move and her nerves and muscles paralyzed, she's forced to just STAND there and take it until, FINALLY, the beastman relents, giving her freedom once more. And what does Marisol do?

She stumbles back, hitting the ground with a thud on her duff.

"How is that even POSSIBLE??" the girl wonders aloud, rubbing her head crankily and struggling--again--to keep her now-frizzled hair in place. Thankfully the beastly SLOBBER helps that a bit, keeping it relatively in check and somewhat styled. Because that's important...especially if Bale is somewhere, watching.

(He isn't.)

Panting a bit, Marisol pushes herself to her feet very slowly, struggling a bit to catch her breath. "G-give me a few," she offers her teammate, whether Kula is aware or not. "I think...I need a bit of a breather...man how is that Blanka guy not illegal in the fighting circuit? First biting, now electrocution??" What a health hazard!!

COMBATSYS: Marisol gains composure.

"But-" Freezla starts to protest, blinking, having been caught off guard by such a... strange challenge, "It's already," she continues, ducking out of the way of the ice-laced kick, stepping back and to the side, giving Freibin a curious look. "...oh. I get it." She shakes her head, taking another step back, putting distance between him and her, "Then it's already frozen, so my claim is still true!"

She whirls around, glancing toward Blanka and Marisol, having heard her teammate's plea for getting a breather for a sec. When she moves, it's remarkably fast, putting the wirey fighter at Marisol's side in an instant. "Cool party over here. But you've been picking on my criminal cohort for too long, Batman!" She extends her right arm, pointing toward Blanka, "I'm putting you on ice!"

Her right hand snaps back to her mouth, palm up, fingers extended, as she takes in a deep breath. The exhale comes a moment later, a shimmer of white energy pulsing over her body, culminating in her gloved hand. The breath itself becomes a gale force wind surging toward Blanka, bearing with it sharp blades of ice, endless sleet, and razor edged rings of frozen matter as she tries to force him to back off from Marisol.

Oh noes! Kula.. no, FREEZAH! has focused on the leader of the Dynamic Duo! Whatever will he do! Blanka will.. um. Stare in surprise, trying to follow the words as quickly as they come. He gawks a bit, and then attempts to throw himself aside as the giant blurry blast of breath comes in. He's not nearly fast enough, and is quickly hit with the flurry of fierce frozen freshness, minty-clean and solid clear through. Left for a second as an ice sculpture, he quickly breaks free, and then chides Frei with a warning! "Aroobin! Make sure to be wearing your Bat-thermal-undaroos!" With that, he leaps in!

He can't quite bring himself to strike at Marisol again, instead focusing on the other 'villain' - besides, it's a good show to do these sorts of things here and there. As Blanka bounds in, he tries to catch Kula with a quick one-two combination upside the head. They'll have to edit in the *POW* later, if it hits - Blanka himself has no way to do such a thing in reality - though, after watching the show for several days straight in preperation, he surely wishes he could!

Skipping backwards after delivering his kick, Frei gives Kula a look of consternation! Not only did she dodge his kick, she dodged his challenge too! "Hey! That's not how it works at all! And why am I suddenly the Riddler instead of Robin?!" But then he has to, you know, DUCK because Miss Freeze just decided to send some chilly power his partner's way. Of course, when he gets back up, it's with a wince. "Argh, all these ice puns, maybe we SHOULD have gone Tim Burton..."

Well, Blanka's taking the fight to Kula, so it looks like it's just Robin and Ivy! "I've played my Final Fantasy," Frei says, skipping off toward Marisol with another cape flourish. "I know what you use on plant monsters!" When he gets close, the YFCC instructor spins and tries to, of all things, *trip* Marisol... but once he does, if he can manage it, he ends the spin by flicking out his wrist and speeding her journey to the ground by, well... unleashing a burst of crimson fire. Hey, it works in video games!

COMBATSYS: Blanka has ended the fight here.

With a few staggering steps back and away from the general vicinity of the electric beastman, Marisol does not hesitate to distance herself, if only for the sake of simply giving herself room to breathe. She really needs it, too--in seemingly no time flat he's already knocked the proverbial wind out of her sails. However unsanitary his methods of fighting may be, he's strong, at least. And Marisol can appreciate that. It's why she smiles faintly in between a few breaths.

But in fights such as these, there really isn't such thing as 'downtime' for a fighter. Just when Marisol thinks she has time to settle herself a bit and shrug off the stinging after effects of Blanka's electrocution, Frei makes an appearance in her peripherals. He approaches quickly, drawing a mildly bemused look off the girl--more so as he reaches out and grabs her. But just as his leg snaps out to trip her up--

Marisol punches him straight in the face.

Well, it isn't that simple! The motion is swift and brief, meant to stun him. The real beef of Marisol's attack comes when she drops her opposite arm's shoulder and swings it fiercely upwards, knuckles driving a mean uppercut into the superhero-clad monk's jaw. "HYAAAGH!"

Marisol makes for a terrible Poison Ivy.

Freeze lowers her hand slowly, closing her hand, the ice crusting over her glove falling to pieces and scattering across the floor as Blankaman suffers a painful, wintery assault conjured from the young thing's horrific levels of energy control. "It's going to take more than special undaroos to save yourselves from what's in store."

She turns to the side, her shoulder facing toward Blanka as he charges back onto the offense. Standing straight, hair billowing about her shoulders, driven by an unseen force, she wishes she had thought to add a nice cape to her ensemble. That would've been so /cool/! Her right hand, the side away from Blanka, clenches tighter, a shimmer of white coursing over her limb, before solidifying into a sheath of spiked, jagged ice, that runs the length of her arm. Her legs bend a little, the girl shoving her left shoulder into Blanka's opening swing.

In an instant, she brings her right hand forward, smashing it into the jungle-raised fighter. Her entire body uncoils into the uppercut, raking that blade-edged gauntlet of ice against his body as she knocks him into the air along with her, leaving a sparkling trail of crystals raining down behind her rising arc.

"The last Ice Age killed the dinosaurs. What do you think /you/ can do to stop the next one?" she asks, spinning into a pirouette at the apex of her ascent in order to slam her foot into Blanka and drive him into the wall of one of the set's fake buildings. Dropping, she lands lightly, standing up straight again, flexing her right arm a little, causing the sheath of ice to crumble off of her body suit's sleeve. "Tonight's forcast - a freeze is coming!" she declares, resting her hands at her hips.

POW!!

KABLAM!

Blanka goes up in the air in a surprising bobble, the giant jungle man's costume ripped open like his chest as he goes flying from the ice-gaunteleted uppercut. The set wall he crashes into almost breaks, but manages to blunt his fall, mostly by, uh.. him slamming into it and it not breaking for a soft landing. He lands in something akin to a heap, and well - it's certainly not for the best for him!

Wobbly, he recovers. He's forgotten who he is, much like the football player in the old Snickers commercial. Luckily enough, the football player was convinced he was Batman in it, so Blankaman is still pretty well off. He pulls himself up from the ground, and takes a few moments to shake out the woozy from Kula's attack, then starts towards her again.

"Freeze.. you were frozen because you hurt yourself to save the person you love. Blan... Batman will help you out. Meet the new ... LIGHT OF YOUR LIFE!" With that, Blanka hurls himself towards Kula, the bat-symbol on his torn chestpiece glowing with sparkly blue and white lightning.

Somehow, they'll manage to highlight that, even though really, every bit of his body is coated with electricity as he rushes in towards Kula!

That initial punch to the jaw seems to confuse Frei more than anything else, his head tilting a little (and ruining his grip). The uppercut is a different story, knocking him up and onto his back, staring blankly at the ceiling for a moment. He's still doing okay, but Marisol knows how to hit... and let's face it, any blow to the head is pretty nasty that way. You can almost see the birds floating around his head in a circle. Getting up, he rubs his jaw, glancing at Marisol with a faint smile. "All we're missing now are the cutaways to visible sound effects."

Off to the side he sees Kula really put the chill on Blanka and winces; the big green guy is pretty tough but that really looks like it stung, and Frei himself knows firsthand just how powerful Kula's ice is. "Holy frostbite," he utters without even thinking about it, and then instantly looks like he's regretting having said it. "...costume's getting in my head." But Blanka is back on his feet and punning like crazy, so that's reassuring.

Inspired, Frei grins at Marisol, cracking his knuckles. "You're trouble, Poison Ivy... but we gave the good people of Gotham tools to help them out of trouble! Just like this..." And then he's rushing her, hands glowing gold-white as he suddenly spins and thrusts them at her palms-out, a burst of bright light exploding at her at very close range... in the shape of, well... a bat. A stylized bat. "THIS BAT-SIGNAL!"

Frei, you're fired.

Giving her offending fist a light shaking out, the redhead just peers Frei's direction as he reels in the aftermather, recovering soon enough and rising to his feet. When he speaks she offers a slight grin, gray eyes half-lidded as she replies, "Honestly, I'm glad they didn't. This setup is such a huge disappointment--no offense, of course. I really wanted to meet Bale." A wistful sigh follows.

"Oh well." Shrugging, Marisol's eyes draw shut as she just lets it roll off her back. One day..!

The nearby ruckus of Kula and Blanka also draws the half-Spaniard girl's attention, Marisol's gaze wandering toward the duo as they fight it out amongst themselves for now. Pursing her green-colored lips, the redhead surmises that without a doubt Kula is doing fine--and no surprise! She knows first-hand how the girl fights. She's strong...

"Wha..?" Frei's remark draws the redhead's gaze, her lips partially ajar as she watches him rush toward her. "Uhh, my name is Maris--" But before the thought can finish, Frei's glowing hands thrust out and shove a glowing energy bat-signal at her. There's hardly any time to react; just barely does Marisol manage to lift her arms up and let the energy crash into her arms, the leafy gloves on her arms singed and burned in the aftermath.

"Ow o wow," Stumbling backwards, the redhead drops her arms, giving them a brisk shaking out before she turns her gaze from Robin-Frei toward Bat-Blanka. Well, she HAS neglected the hero a bit, and she does kind of owe him for the serious beating he gave...

With a sharp, deep breath into her lungs, Marisol tears forward. A blur of red and green, the redhead's form erupts with a shimmer of dandelion-yellow energy. A foot from Blanka the girl suddenly jerks forward, drawing her body downward in a quick kneel as her fist drives forward, to punch the earth near the beastman's feet. Nothing happens--AT FIRST.

Then, suddenly, all the energy that once embraced the half-Spaniard girl erupts from the ground, a massive gout of fiery yellow energy and chunks of debris bursting from beneath the concrete floor--and flying right at the Caped Crusader. Oh no!

Blankaman isn't going to be so easily put down - a feat he demonstrates as he gets back to his feet amid the pile of rubble left by the damage to the building facade. As he speaks up, however, he catches young Freeze off guard, identifying with the source of her evil villain origin. Crimson eyes widen with surprise as she shakes her head, "You can't help me, you can't-" But whatever she has to say after that is cut off as he leaps forward, a green and grey-blue bullet of charged power.

She brings both hands forward, attempting to create a barrier that would be strong enough to put a stop to his attempt to light up her life, but the thin shell she gets in place is insufficient to stop it, the ice melting as suddenly as it formed, leaving him crashing into her and knocking the waifish girl clean off her feet into the wall behind her - payback for her last hit, no doubt.

Grunting, she slips down off the wall, hand coming, lightning still coursing over it, risidual energy left by the attack powerful enough to cause her jacket to smoke. Wincing, she clenches her hand, fighting off the chi-based electricity, a pained hiss escaping through her lips. "Is that compassion? Do you pity me? I'm afraid," she growls, standing up straighter, fighting off the last of his electricty, "my condition has left me cold to your attempts at showing kindness." She shakes her head, eyes settling on Blanka's partner.

"But now that you have brought it up, I will gladly let you share the pain I know. His bones will turn to ice," she declares, suddenly springing toward Frei, "His blood will freeze in my hands. You will know loss as I do!" And with that, Freibin will have precious little time to defend himself as Kula's right hand goes for his neck, infused with a pulse of frigid, brutally cold energy. Her left hand goes for his shoulder, likewise empowered, attempting to make good on her threat on the young man should he not manage to escape her grip!

It's the 'AT FIRST' that gets Blanka.

Blanka's used to attacks /doing/ things, not 'waiting a few seconds, and /then/ doing things'. This catches him by surprise, the bustling beastman starting to croush down as Ivy gets in close. He's done this before, in many fights - get under the opponent, bounce up, and smush them with a Blankaball. It's a solid maneuver, and a tactic well worth using. However, when the attack is /actually/ coming from below, well.. Putting yourself even closer to the ground is not a wise choice!

Bursted upwards on a gout of energy, Blanka goes flying, cape torn, green and red showing through blue and grey spandex. He lands on a tangle of vines, set aside for a later 'Ivy' scene, and the cameras eagerly switch to the animatronic plant life, which wraps 'round the weakened Blanka's limbs. Caught as he is, injured and unable to free himself, Blanka lets unconciousness and feeble thrashings take him - over the sound of the fight, microphones catch and amplify his 'final' words, for his partner.

"Fight hard... arood chum..."

Whoa, okay, now everything's gone crazy. Ivy's attacking Batman?! Freeze is attacking Robin?! Cats and dogs, living together, mass hysteria! Frei is keeping his eyes on Kula, because she is the immediate threat... but he's keeping his eye on Blanka since Marisol attacked him, and he grimaces as his poor partner takes it on the proverbial chin, and doesn't get back up, delivering an inspiring final line. And it is indeed inspiring, because Frei is powered by drama.

He is actually looking away from Kula when she grabs for his neck, but before she can connect he snaps out a hand blazing with crimson fire, closing his fingers around hers and completely shutting down that avenue of attack. He then lets go, turning to look at his opponents. "You... KILLED Batman!" he says, voice full of (feigned?) profound sorrow. "You... you..." A pause. "Man, they would never have said 'bastards' in 1970. Dastards? Does that work?" Way to ruin it, Frei.

However, he's not going to waste this chance with Kula sitting right there next to him, and in a flash his hand comes back, glowing white-silver, and he suddenly swings it at her in a parabolic arc, glittering line of metal chi slicing the air in the path of the hand strike, a ringing tone resounding if it connects. "Dangit, now I need to move to another city and become Nightwing."

Chi explodes, Blanka flies and...electronically-controlled fauna wrap around him?

Marisol's only response is to, of course, squint uncertainly.

Still, her efforts have paid off. The fearsome Bat-Blanka is out of the picture, leaving his poor Boy Wonder to fend for himself. Turning her attentions from the bound-up Blanka toward Frei, she watches as Frei, empowered by his duty to fight in his partner's wake, handles the assault from Kula. She blinks once, a little confused before her head lightly tips to one side.

Should she...do something?

Of course she should! Kula--er, Miss Freeze needs help!

As Frei makes his move on Kula, Marisol gallops into action, jogging forward in an attempt to sneak up on the monk while distracted. Should she close in she'll drop an arm and a fist to the side and swing hard, attempting to sock poor Frei in the side in some odd, makeshift punch that may wind up being a kidney punch, if anything. But hey, she was forced to improvise here.

"HAAAAAAAH!!"

Her attempt at locking Frei in place long enough to freeze his blood solid fails when he catches her hand in his, countering that icy power with a flare of flame, providing the natural anthesis to her formidable force of energy. She pauses, surprised at being stopped so short, eyes blinking as she looks back at him. She's already tugging her arm back when he lets her go, leaving her to stumble a half step in the process.

She glances toward Blanka, then toward her partner, Poison Marisol, finding that the caped crusader has been turned over to the evil ivy that holds him fast. "What are dastards?" she asks, snapping her attention back toward Frei now that the fearsome lightning Blanka possesses is no longer of immediate concern. But this isn't time for casual questions, she's got a swath of metallic chi threatening to slash into her now, and Freeze springs back out of range, avoiding the threat all together as she skates to a stop a few yards back.

"Winter has come last," she declares, standing up straight, right hand tightening, white energy pouring down from her fist as if fluid, landing on the floor and freezing into pools of slick matter at her feet. It spreads slowly buy surely, forming an ice slick around the girl on which she has absolute control and everyone else... will have to make due. Marisol charges in, swinging with one of her solid punches, and Kula holds her ground, grinning a little at the eagerness with which her partner leaps into action, "Kick some ice!"

COMBATSYS: Kula focuses on her next action.

Well, one inspired defense is one thing. A whole series of them is probably a leeeeeetle less probable. Case in point: Kula steps back, Marisol steps in, and Frei goes on the offensive, looking to snag that kidney(?) punch right out of the air and turn the young woman's offensive against her! Instead he does it... wrong. Sort of. Intending to use a grappling technique, instead of pulling Marisol's fist away from him and into the air, he actually... well, yanks the fist INTO his side. Faster than she's delivered it. There's a fun moment of o_o on his face before he basically... crumples. That stung. A lot.

But it's not enough to keep him down, not by a longshot. Getting back up, the sage-turned-superhero brushes dust off his green tights, grits his teeth, and POINTS at Kula. "A dastard is... is..." And then he stops. What IS a dastard? The look of confusion really sort of ruins the effect, as Frei realizes he doesn't KNOW the literal definition, only that it's the sort of word you apply to Snidely Whiplash-style villains. Rallying, however, he jabs his finger forward again. "Dastards are the type of people who would kill Batman!" Oh dear.

Recoiling quickly from the questionable kidney punch, Marisol's lips edge into a slight grin. Inwardly, however, she breathes a sigh of relief. That could have been awful, but it would seem fortune favors the sneaky-bold. She'll take it!

A glance is spared, gray eyes peering curiously at the frosty Miss Freeze as she recovers from Blanka's shocking assault, giving the blue-haired girl a brief thumbs up before she turns her attentions back onto Frei. Grinning still, like the cat that's caught the canary, she peers at the monk...before questioning his family-friendly dialogue.

"What? Do you mean bastard? What's with the fifty's television speak, anyway?" A few SNF crewmembers facepalm off-camera.

"Well, whatever you mean, we're not done yet!" A hand curls into a fist at her side, gray eyes half-lidded as she grins. "So ready or not..."

Again, Marisol charges forward without hesitation, driving a swift line right at Boy Wonder Frei. If she can get close enough that fist will shoot up and swing mightily, a nasty left hook delivered right for his jaw! "Why so serious!?" Oh lord. At least she tried.

Kula's slick of influence spreads, turning the street into a frosty, slippery threat before she puts a stop to it. Poor Frei is left having to face off against both villains alone. Holding a last, valiant stand before the closing credits threaten to encroach on the view space. Nothing about Kula's upbringing suggests she shouldn't attack now, however, and even as Marisol charges him once again, her power builds.

"Then dastards we are!" she declares, "For tonight, hell freezes over." She starts to stride forward, moving with deliberate purpose rather than her blindingly fast speed from before. Her right arm glows, a sphere of pulsing into existence on her right fist. Closer she strides, that fluid energy solidfying into a sphere of ice over her hand as she draws her arm up.

"Because tonight," she draws her arm back, cocking it, "The Ice Man cometh!" The girl slams her hand forward, standing about a yard away from Frei The hemisphere of that ice nearest to him morphs, three sharp, varied length lances spiking out with horrific speed and incredible force. "Oh yeah, and so do I!" she quickly adds.

Oh dear. If this were a movie, you'd be saying "BUT WITHOUT BATMAN, ROBIN IS DOOMED NOES D:" and actually you'd probably be right. Against two fighters of Marisol and Kula's calibre, even the resilient Frei is going to be hard-pressed to turn this one around. But he's still into it and plans to give it his all until he can't anymore, because that's what Batman would do! The encroaching frost doesn't worry him too much, or maybe he just can't devote attention to worrying about it right now, but Marisol's comment makes him blink, then laugh a little helplessly. "It's just, you know... we're playin' around. Because of the theme. You know?" Does she know, Frei? Does she really? (PROTIP: no)

Sadly, he isn't paying that much attention, or enough attention, and Kula's clever tactics have given her that much of an edge. By the time he notices the spears of ice, it's far too late to do anything about them; Frei simply braces himself and hopes for the best, but it doesn't mitigate the damage any... and it's considerable, ice lances spearing through his costume. But the pain actually refreshingly puts him on the alert, so that when Marisol comes at him the punch is met with a sudden, solid interposed palm. His body resounds with the painful impact, but in a split second, his own other fist swings forward, inescapably fast and surrounded with an aura of purple-black chi, cold to the touch... followed by a blistering combination of strikes and kicks to drive Poison Ivy back.

And because he's a nerd, Frei accompanies each with a nice verbal sound effect: "Biff! Pow! Bam! Punch! Whammo! Etcetera!" Yes, he really says 'etcetera'.

"We are? What? Man, I came because I thought I'd get to meet Christian Bale."

Marisol pauses briefly, gray eyes distantly thoughtful before she adds, quickly, "Well, and to fight. And 'cause they needed someone to fill in quickly." A soft shrug follows in the brief downtime, as it were, the girl's lips pulling into an amused grin. "But okay, if we're going to play around that's fine. I just don't know much about Batman. Well, other than what I saw in the movies with Bale." She's rambling!

But even Marisol knows when it's time to get to business. Moving in, she leaves her teammate to her own devices and, instead, attempts to sock the monk in the face. Hard. Unfortunately, Frei has the same idea, albeit with a bit of chi and pyrotechnics of varying color. Oh and a fist, but the fires pretty much distract the half-Spaniard from the fist, and she's thoroughly distracted when the chi erupts and sends her flying back into the nearest wall. She goes through it, too--it IS a set, after all.

Eventually, like all good villainesses do, the redhead emerges, crawling out of the hole she'd made in the fake building wall and groaning like some zombie. Shaking her head a bit, she tries to drown out the ringing in her ears and the considerable PAIN her body is feeling. Focusing as best she can, the redhead grits her teeth before she ambles forward, a slow and patient gait at first. Then?

Then she breaks forward, hurriedly trying to close in on Frei. And should she the girl's fists fly out in a flurry, four rapid and nasty hook punches delivered to stun the fighter. It's the prelude, however; recoiling like a hammer on a pistol, she clenches a fist tightly, muscles straining beneath flesh before she throws herself forward like a piston, her fist intent on punching Frei in the center of his chest. Hard.

"FAPPO!" Hey, that isn't a legitimate sound effect, Marisol. Or IS IT?

Her spearing attack delivered, Kula draws back, taking two steps back onto her self-made ice slick as she retracts her arm. The ice shatters, falling to the ground as thousands of tiny crystals, and the NESTS agent pauses as words are exchanged, as well as a flurry of chi and fists between the lone hero and her partner.

His words, his demeanor, his comment about playing around jars her a little. Mostly because she hadn't even been consciously aware of how much fun the themed, costumed, strange match actually was until he points it out. Even after being slashed by her sharp attack, suffering one of her more punishing techniques, he continues to stay in the same mood, adding sound effects to his attacks, giving it his all against impossible odds. Like a real comic book hero.

The girl stands up straight, exhaling softly, a thoughtful expression on her face. It had been a long time since someone had told her how fighting could be fun - she had been skeptical then. Now she has to wonder. Shaking her head, she dons a villainous scowl, "I won't let my henchwoman finish you herself!" she declares, deciding right then and there that Marisol is her minion baddie and that she can't be allowed to take all the credit here!

"It's time to send you to the cooler!" she declares, sprinting forward, this time with much of that formidable speed she demonstrated earlier in the fight, dropping into a slide along the slick, feet first, aiming to drive her feet into Frei's shins and drop him to the ground!

Oh dear. Nobody told her? Well, nobody told Frei either, sort of, or so his response to Marisol implies. "Christian Bale is here?!" he gasps, momentarily starstruck. What? He's cute, shut up. Don't judge me. The cameramen just hang their heads. Blanka is thankfully too unconscious to hear that, too. Clearing his throat, Frei gathers himself. "ANYHOW yeah you are villains and I am Robin and that poor green guy was Batman WHO YOU KILLED BY THE WAY so yeah. Sorry nobody told you." If it helps, he seems genuinely sorry; not everyone is into the whole SNF wackiness schtick, after all.

And then they're both on the move, coming right at him. He's ready, and hoping to do his best, but Marisol's fighting spirit is at its peak, lending her attack even more speed and strength than normal. It's amazing what hitting someone enough will do! The fact that Kula is coming at him from a different, lower angle isn't helping either. Biting his lip, Frei makes a critical mistake: he tries to defend against both at once. The old proverb "a hunter who chases two hares catches none" is entirely appropriate; Kula's sliding kick knocks him off his feet and right into Marisol's waiting fist. He gets totally, totally FAPPO'd, taking his turn to fly through a nearby piece of (breakable) scenery with a loud crash.

However, beat but hanging on, his right hand clenched as if holding an object, white light spilling out through his fingers. "Ha... ha... you may... have won this time... but NEXT time... good will prevail!" Thrusting that hand forward, he unleashes seven points of white light that lash out toward his opponents, sinking into the ground... and then leaping upwards as columns of bright light, seeking to envelop both Kula and Marisol!

Frei, meanwhile, facefirsts onto the floor, entirely unconscious.

Her slide takes her to a stop a little ways past Frei before Kula has the chance to stand back up, whirling back around, ready for more. Frei has, thus far, withstood a lot of punishment from multiple directions. There's no reason to count him out, even with the criminal couple constantly charging him. The girl starts back toward the young man, even as he gets up, ready to take another swing, or unleash one of her punishing techniques...

Her eagerness to stay in the fight almost has her miss the explosive nature of his final retaliation. The white light gives her cause to pause, drawing her arms up, eyes widening a little. "That's no far, you're getting the final say!" she protests, bunkering down as columns of energy wash over her. Forced to fight against it with her own energy control, she manages to weather the attack even after being driven back several feet before coming to a stop.

Exhaling, the girl lowers her arms, half closing her eyes as she catches her breath at last. "Whew. Nice work, favorite minion!" she cheers in Marisol's direction before glancing toward Frei and Blanka, arms going to rest at her hips, "And good try in stopping me, brave heroes! We'll have to see what bitter harvest awaits in the next episode!" Whirling around, she turns to walk off, muttering to herself, "And next time I need a cape. Yes."
