SNF 2008.06 - A Flip of the Coin! Hayato vs Shenwoo, CA: Heidern

Description: Hayato and Shenwoo duke it out on top of the Empire State building, while Heidern strikes from the sidelines, basing his attacks on the flips of a surprisingly fair coin. The resulting fight is short and brutally violent. Just the way the participants like it. (Winner: Hayato)

One of the most famous buildings in the world is about to get even MORE famous. Because, you see, the Empire State Building is about to be the site where Hayato Nekketsu gets an unimagineable asswhupping at the hands of the God of Battle himself, the self-named 'Shenwoo'.

Sure, there's some 'Chaos Agent' or another, but Shen doesn't really spare much thought for things like that. Designed to make things more interesting for the viewers at home, and that's fine with him... While he'd prefer a straight up fight, a test of strength versus strength, the tall, lean blond man is perfectly willing to accept an additional handicap. It'll just make it all the more spectacular when he wins in the end.

Shenwoo is, after all, nothing if not confident.

Currently standing at the edge of the roof, with helicopters hovering in the background to provide maximum coverage of the fight with their camera crews, Shen's dark eyes are fixed on the long drop to the ground. He frowns a little, brows furrowing... It does seem like they're pretty high up, doesn't it? So the berserker rifles through the pocket of his leather pants, pulling out a small coin. He thinks for a minute, looking at the coin, and then at the ground far below... And with a shrug, he drops the coin.

It's not time to start fighting yet, and he's bored.

Having arrived on the roof a short time beforehand, Hayato watches Shenwoo drop the coin off the roof. Hey, somebody could get hurt! Somebody ought to say something! ...But it won't be Hayato because, honestly, he was thinking of doing the same thing. Shenwoo just beat him to it. Hey, c'mon. It looks like fun.
Shenwoo's not the only person wanting the fight to start, though. Hayato is also quite confident in his ability to win this battle, and he's ready to show it. The presence of a third party might mix things up a little bit, but that should just make it all the more interesting. Still, the fight hasn't actually started yet, since there's no reason not to be pleasant for the time being.
Hayato strolls over to where Shenwoo is peering over the edge of the building. The teacher is dressed in his usual red track suit, idly bouncing the length of his shinai against his shoulder. He also peers over, glancing at the people down below, and showing no signs whatsoever of anything resembling a fear of heights. "Nice view, isn't it?"

Heidern has never quite understood the nature of the "chaos agent" in Saturday Night Fights; it is sort of the tradeoff, he supposes, of not being able to have a special referee due to the no-holds-barred, completely absurd nature of most of the fights. They had to have /some/ way to have a third party pepper up the fights; it only makes sense.

The one-eyed man drops from one of the helicopters hovering above the roof, flipping twice in midair and landing crisply on his feet. He glances to each of the competitors in turn, reaching into his pocket. From it, he pulls a single coin -- minted in Spain, under close observation -- and idly toys with it in his hand.

"You may begin when ready," he says, always all business, even when doing something he largely considers a hobby and a way to keep the Ikaris from being broke when few contracts are coming in.

"Wouldn't like to fall," Shenwoo says, sagely. Of course, knowing him he'd land on his head and be perfectly fine. Straightening up, finally, he glances over at Hayato... He remembers the Burning Teacher, vaguely, having been in a fight with him and K' once before. Though the God of Battle is not too sure on the specifics, as he pays little heed to such mortal concerns (where 'mortal concerns' are 'anything that doesn't interest him at the moment), he does recall that Hayato was strong. And that's enough for Shen!

The arrival of Heidern, the Chaos Agent for the match, draws Shenwoo's attention in turn. Rolling his shoulders a bit, the brawler moves away from the edge towards a larger, clearer section of the rooftop, and once he's there, he turns to face Hayato, bringing his fists up in a loose, casual boxing stance, leading with his right.

And he grins, a wide, feral grin that nearly splits his face in half. "C'mon then. Let me enjoy this a little!" Shenwoo implores Hayato, urging him on with a beckoning motion with his leading hand.

Hayato returns Shenwoo's grin with a rather similar one as he takes up his own place on the relatively safe portion of the roof. "Well, if you're really that eager for a beating, I'd be happy to help you out." He does spare a moment to give Heidern a respectful nod, though. No sense in risking getting on the bad side of a fight's chaos agent! Hayato slams the hand holding his shinai into the palm of his other hand, squeezing for a moment to the sound of cracking knuckles. He then shifts into a combat stance before striding firmly toward Shenwoo.
That stride quickly begins to pick up speed, and in a matter of moments Hayato is charging across the rooftop toward Shenwoo, an eager grin on his face. As he draws near his right arm swings up, raising the shinai high. Then, just as quickly, he brings it slamming down, aiming to crack Shenwoo right in the center of the face with the bamboo blade, with all the force his arm can muster.

As Shenwoo makes that 'come on!' motion, Heidern turns, suddenly, and flips the coin in his hands into the air. It turns end over end for what seems like forever, then lands neatly in his palm; he looks down at it, and as Hayato throws the first 'punch' by swinging out with his shinai, Heidern turns to face the competitors and tugs his gloves on tightly, activating the razorlike blades in the palms.

He decides to start out with a relatively light Ikari grappling technique, rather than unleashing his more powerful personal style immediately; as Hayato finishes his swing, Heidern steps in behind him, wrapping both arms around the man's midsection. The next step is, of course, to just push forward and tackle him to the ground; it's simple and fast, but sometimes, that's all you really need.

He disengages himself the second Hayato hits the ground or gets out of the way; he needs to have enough time to flip his coin again before the next volley of blows starts.

COMBATSYS: Shenwoo endures Hayato's Fierce Strike.

Now, a sensible person would try to avoid that hard swung shinai to the face; bundled bamboo lathes have a tendency to hurt something awful. Or maybe deflect the attack, take it somewhere less vital than on the head or in the face.

Shenwoo, however, is nowhere near 'sensible'.

Instead, the berserker does what he does best, and steps /into/ the attack, getting struck full in the face with Hayato's shinai, which produces a loud, satisfying CRACK as it hits home, but the blow, as powerful and painful as it is... Barely manages to slow the God of Battle at all.

"Ha ha ha ha!" laughs Shen, in the heartbeat after getting smacked right in the face. His grin, somehow, manages to widen, and a possibly mad glint shows in his dark eyes, as he suddenly twists around, smoothly transitioning his movement into a lunging punch, aiming to strike Hayato right in the sternum with one beringed fist from point blank range. "GRAAAH!!"

Hayato is a bit preoccupied with Shenwoo, so he doesn't notice Heidern coming up behind him. Not until he finds arms wrapping around his torso, anyway. By that point it's too late for Hayato to really do anything, so he decides to just ride the tackle out. Heidern is pushing him in the direction of Shenwoo, at least. Perhaps Hayato can use the force to unleash another strike against Shenwoo! Before he actually gets a chance to do that, though, Shenwoo's fist plows into his sternum. Yeah, that's going to leave a mark.
Hayato's eyes bug out, but even as the air is being knocked out of his lungs he reaches out to hook both of his hands behind Shenwoo's head. He's falling, but if he can drag Shenwoo with him it won't matter too much. And Hayato doesn't need to get a moving start to yank forward on Shenwoo's head and attempt to slam a headbutt right into the center of the God of Battle's face.

Once again, Heidern flips his coin up into the air, and once again, he lets it land in his hand; he nods, slowly, as Hayato goes for the headbutt. He has the information he needs -- and so, the mission continues. He pockets the coin this time rather than keeping it in his hand; for what he plans to do with this particular move, having something in hand might be a little unwieldy.

Leaping up into the air, Heidern decides to try a particularly high-risk maneuver for how high-up they are; one false start could send him plummeting, but that's okay -- he's Commander Heidern, he's been hit in the Dustin Diamond with a full-bore uppercut from Takuma Sakazaki, he'll be fine.

The man's hands and forearms are swung out as he reaches the height of his jump, and he executes what is almost a /dive/ toward Shenwoo, aiming both his hands, with those razorlike blades along the palms, right for the God of Battle's face. This is likely to be unappreciated -- except maybe by Hayato.

A turning step bleeds off the last of Shenwoo's forward momentum, which is about when he realises he's in a troublesome situation: Both Hayato AND Heidern attacking him at the same time. But the God of Battle doesn't fret, oh no. Instead, the berserker keeps right on grinning, a faintly amused chuckle escaping between his teeth. He tries to avoid Heidern's slash, but can't quite make it, bloody gashes forming on his face... And then he lets himself get headbutted by Hayato, which is all the more painful by dint of the cuts on his face. But THAT doesn't stop him either. Instead, Shen does the only thing he can possibly do right now.

He headbutts Hayato right back.

This headbutt is followed by a palpable eruption of spirit as the fury and adrenaline running through Shenwoo's veins simply overwhelms him, sending him into a berserker rage in truth. The compactly muscled, tattooed blond man keeps on attacking at Hayato, effectively or not, unleashing a furious barrage of punches and kicks and knees and god knows what else at the Burning Teacher, aiming to finish the whole thing off with a thunderous uppercut, powerful enough to lift Hayato /right off of his damn feet/. "RAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGH!!!"

For the next few moments Hayato has no opportunity to do anything but react, without even having time to think about what he's doing. Arms and legs move in direct response to incoming punches and kicks, even before the gym teacher realizes what's actually happening. The sound of flesh and bone impacting with flesh and bone sounds out as Hayato is forced to slowly fall back under the fury of Shenwoo's assault... but he still manages to keep the God of Battle from breaking through his guard. By the time Shenwoo stops his attack, though, Hayato's forearms have passed through throbbing pain and gone right into numbness.
He can still grip his shinai and form a fist, though, and that's all he really needs. Once more the shinai swings up, this time coming down toward Shenwoo's collarbone. But Hayato doesn't stop there. He swings it out to the side then slices back across Shenwoo's torso, following up with another swing back in the opposite direction. And then one final swing, coming in at a downward angle toward the side of Shenwoo's head.

Heidern watches Shenwoo's brutal assault with a certain disinterest; he has seen the most vicious of unfocused pummels, and at this point, it is very difficult to impress him. Once again, he flips his coin... and once again, it tells him precisely who to attack. It seems to have a sort of sense for how to keep the fight very fair and even.

Heidern lunges toward Hayato, seemingly from out of nowhere; Hayato's immense skill in defending himself, as evidenced by how he handled Shenwoo's assault earlier. He'll have to go for something that seems to pierce /any/ guard, any defense... at least most of the time. The older man sends his leap on a bizarre, arcing course toward Hayato's neck...

... and then wraps his hands around it, using his momentum to send himself spinning around the man a seemingly infinite number of times. They lift off the ground, just a few inches, before Heidern loosens his grip and leaps off, landing on the edge of the 'arena'. Alternately, he flubs the grip and lands in a tumble a few feet away.

COMBATSYS: Hayato successfully hits Shenwoo with Scolding Slash.

Man, people sure like to hit Shenwoo in the head today. Still recovering from his brutal assault on Hayato, breathing raggedly as he slowly calms back down to a more normal level of sanity, Shen can't quite avoid the incoming slash, though he does try; it clips his head, right above his ear, sending the brawler briefly reeling... But it's not as though something like that is enough to put the God of Battle away. Not just yet, anyway.

Instead, Shenwoo catches himself before he manages to fall on his ass, and then as Heidern lunges to catch Hayato by the neck, the blond man lunges forward his own self, throwing one leg out in an attempt to kick Hayato right in the gut.

Really, really, really hard.

One problem with relying on momentum for an attack is that once you get going, it can be hard to stop if something goes wrong. This serves Hayato well, as he manages to get his arm in the way of his neck when it comes to Heidern's grasping hands. Of course, the experience undergone by Hayato's arm is unpleasant, to say the least, resulting in the sleeve of his jacket getting rather shredded... but it leaves him standing, and with one arm still free to deal with Shenwoo.
Hayato manages to lunge forward and to the side, breaking free of Heidern at the same time as he brings his fist swinging down toward Shenwoo's face. The God of Battle's foot knocks aside the edge of Hayato's jacket, missing his torso by a fraction of an inch... but Hayato's fist doesn't miss Shenwoo's face. It's a solid hit, and one that Hayato follows through on all the way down to the floor.

Yet again, Heidern tosses that unit of currency up; however, this time, something happens. Between the time it goes up and the time it goes down, Hayato puts out a seemingly-instant offense that, as far as Heidern can tell, completely annihilates the man the coin is telling him to punch. Rules are rules, but he's not going to simply aggravate the injuries of a man who, by his count, isn't even going to be able to get back up from his /current/ injuries if he tries anything crazy.

He takes a step back, and waits.

Ha ha, Shenwoo not try anything crazy? Come on, this guy is famous, and if there's one thing anyone is likely to know about the God of Battle, it is this:

He is completely, utterly bughouse.

So, Shen's attack is dealt with quite smoothly by Hayato, as he gets punched in the face and driven right to the top of the observation deck, landing with a sharp impact and a rush of air out of his lungs, but... He starts laughing. Quietly at first, shoulders shaking, but he's definitely laughing. He laughs and laughs, even as he tries to roll so that he's on top of Hayato, still on the floor...

...Because there he can start hitting the teacher in the head with his fists. It doesn't last long, not in Shen's current condition, and soon enough the berserker rolls off of Hayato to flop on the floor, decidedly unable to continue fighting. He keeps chuckling to himself, though.

COMBATSYS: Shenwoo can no longer fight.

For a few moments Hayato's face becomes a punching bag, as Shenwoo repeatedly traps the gym teacher's head between the floor and his fists. Hayato's face is bloody when Shenwoo finally flops over onto his back, but after a few moments the Burning Phys Ed Teacher sits up, slowly shaking his head. He rubs his arm across his face, wiping away some of the blood, then climbs backs up to his feet.
Hayato rolls his neck a few times, eliciting some popping noises, then turns to look down at Shenwoo. The God of Battle is still laughing, but it doesn't look like he's able to get back up. Hayato grins down at him, but in a friendly manner rather than a mocking one. "Not bad, pal." He runs his tongue along the inside of his jaw. "I think you almost knocked some fillings loose, but it wasn't quite enough. Maybe next time."
