SNF 2008.03 - Love! Daigo vs Ingrid/Adira

Description: Daigo vs. Adira and Ingrid! The meaning of love? No. The meaning of HURT? Yes. (Winners: Adira and Ingrid)

France. It's a country that Adira never really wanted to see. Sure, it's famous, it's got Paris, the City of Lights, et cetera et cetera. But really... Adira prefers the down and dirty. Metro City, the area around Gedo, that kind of thing. Going to France? Not really her thing. But... well, it was scheduled, and she's not one to welsh on a promise. Especially when a paycheck is involved.

"Ingrid Holmann... don't know anything about her," mutters Adira, to herself, as she ascends in an elevator destined for the top of the Tower--a place just large enough for a fight, really, not much more than that... spectators will have to watch via remote camera. She's not decked out in either her school uniform or her usual 'fighting casual' outfit--instead, she's wearing a rather typical karatedogi, with some extra accoutrements...

As she steps out, a voice echoes over the loudspeaker that's been placed up there. "Welcome, Adira Sen'ou! Please wait while the other combatants arrive." Down below, of course, the announcer's getting the crowd worked up, but Adira isn't paying attention to any of that.

She's rolling her shoulders and stretching, all the oddities one does before a fight, while she ruminates on the opponent... Daigo Kazama. The Boss. She's never met him--has intended to, but time and school and other things have gotten in the way--... but she's about to meet him tonight.

Indeed, it would appear that Adira will be meeting the Boss of Gedo High approximately about now, as the elder Kazama ascends in the elevator. It's an odd location for a fight, but the Saturday Night Fight tends to be the embodiment of odd. Clad is his usual outfit, Daigo steps out of the elevator, looking around. "Well. This should be interesting."

France is a country with an amazing history and culture. The fact that most countries do as well doesn't detract from this fact. It's the type of place that Ingrid loves to visit, and there's no doubt that she'll be sticking around after the SNF team has packed up and left to do a bit of sightseeing while she's here. But for now she's here, at the top of Paris's most famous landmark, the Eiffel Tower. It's great fun to be here, don't get her wrong, but she's the type of fighter who really enjoys the crowds. In fact, she's the type of fighter who usually mingles with the crowd until the last possible moment. So she's slightly out of her element here, but it's something she can handle.

Her elevator arrives only moments after Daigo's and Adira's, and she she greets them both with a warm smile. "Hello, I'm Ingrid Holmann. It's nice to meet you." Definitely the friendly sort, this one. "It's going to be interesting fighting up here, don't you think? I almost wish there was a safety net in case one of us gets tossed off, but then I'm sure we'll be fine."

The announcer, of course, takes notice of her arrival. "And here's our final competitor, Ingrid Holmann! It shouldn't be long now, folks. Are you all ready?" The cheer can just barely be heard up where the fighters are.

Adira's gaze falls on Daigo. "Shit, he's freakin' -huge-," she mutters to herself, though, notably, there's no fear in her exclamation. No, just a cautiousness. And she glances over at her shorter co-competitor, Ingrid, as she arrives. "Hi, nice to meet you. So," she says, casually, as she looks over at Daigo, "Guess we gotta take you out. Probably you don't know, but I go to Gedo, too. So, uh... don't take it too hard if we win." She doesn't know too much about the man--his ego, his fighing style--so she just adds the statement as a cautionary gesture.

The loudspeaker crackles to life once again, and the announcer states, "Fighters, you may begin!! FIGHT!!" That thin, skirling cheer once again rises... and Adira frowns to herself, looking at Daigo. Her eye isn't practiced enough yet; she's sure he has weaknesses, but what those might be...

She's first off the block, anyways, and after the fight is called she lunges forward, immediately going for the flashy as she flips into a handstand just a few feet from Daigo, launches herself upwards, and attempts to lock her ankles around his neck. If she gets there, she'll whiplash her body around to her left, pulling down with her legs, trying to faceplant the man.

"Yes, he certainly is, isn't he?" Ingrid nods along with her partner. "I wouldn't be surprised in the slightest if it takes everything we have to compete against him. Lets do our best to work together, shall we?" So her partner goes to school with him but hasn't met him before? That's definitely interesting to the blonde Norwegian. From what she can tell Adira seems to look up to him, which would make this fight even more important for her than it already is.

But before long the announcer interjects and begins the match, essentially removing the ability for Ingrid to analyze the social situation while also allowing her to get to the meat of this situation, the fight itself. Whatever respect the American has for the Gedo boss, it's not enough to keep her from rushing right into the thick of it. And it seems Ingrid is equally willing to put her neck on the line. While normally she prefers to hang back and study an opponent, right now it's far more important for her to stick with her teammate and show a unified front.

With Adira flipping through the air Ingrid shoots straight in at her full running speed, which is rather impressive. Once she gets close both of her arms raise up into the air above her head, and she stops directly in front of Daigo. Her attack is simple, but effectively so. She pushes her hands down and forward while releasing a stream of energy from them, golden psi pouring out from her hands to almost completely surround the gangboss in a sea of sparkles.

In response to Adira's request, Daigo nods. "As long as you fight to your best, I'll be happy with that." And when the call goes out for the fight to begin, Daigo drops into his normal, rather neutral stance, evaluating his opponents as they come rushing in.

As Adira comes in with the throw, Daigo lets it come, rather than attempt to evade. However, the lock does not go as planned, the larger competitor bracing himself for the strike, ultimately getting knocked back. Unfortunately, it's a perfect setup for Ingrid's attack, which catches Daigo head on, pushing him back. Well. That covers threat evaluation, for the moment. They have the potential to be devastating as a team, but the American is, for the moment, the greater threat.

As such, recovering from the sea of deadly sparkles, Daigo lashes out at Ingrid with a quick kick, to try and push her back for the second, whilst trying to prepare himself for the inevitable counter attacks.

COMBATSYS: Ingrid blocks Daigo's Light Kick.

Adria draws Daigo's attention, and Ingrid manages to get in her blow. It goes about as well as the part-time Seijyun student could have hoped, all things considered, so she's rather pleased with herself. "Great teamwork," she comments to her partner. Daigo then sees fit to give her defenses a quick test, which she responds to by crossing her arms in front of herself, letting his shin hit her forearms and disperse the pain of the blow.

But from Ingrid there is no counterattack. The young woman instead backs off a few steps, either expecting Adira to do the same or take Daigo on head to head for the moment. In truth, either way is fine with her. She knows now that together they can be an excellent team- one good enough to break the powerful man's defenses. So now she's going to hold back and get an eye for how he fights. That kick alone wasn't enough to tell her much of anything, and she'd prefer not to run into any of his traps, but instead to set ones of her own.

COMBATSYS: Ingrid focuses on her next action.

Adira is already separating from Daigo by the time Ingrid's done attacking; using her momentum to sling herself backwards, flipping artfully into a three-point stance. Hmm. Well, that didn't go quite as well as she would have hoped for it to go... but she didn't get smacked around so that's probably okay at the least.

"As tough as advertised," she comments, offhandedly, to the Gedo boss, glancing over at Ingrid as she takes that kick in the arms, and break off. Hmm. She understands the sentiment... but holding back isn't something Adira does easily. "Right... here I go again...!"

Someday, her bulldog-like nature is going to get her in trouble; she rushes Daigo again, taking three steps, pushing off with her left, and firing herself upwards in a flying right knee strike aimed for the big man's chin--with a followup left knee, just to give her some backwards momentum. Being up close with a man like him isn't really a great idea for long.

This time, Daigo isn't just going to sit and take it. As Adira comes up with the kick, Daigo responds with a strong right punch, surrounded by red chi. And while some of the strike gets through, it's clear that the Gang Boss was prepared for that one. Stepping back, the Gang Boss once again reevaluates the situation. "Interesting."

Yeah, it's been a while since Daigo has had a fight like this. At the moment, however, he stands neutral, waiting for his opponents responses.

Ingrid watches her partner as she goes in to attack the boss of Gedo once again, and the ensuing results. Yep, that proves it. Daigo Kazama is one tough dude. He can put the serious hurtings on someone if he puts his mind to it, and Ingrid's partner walked right into his waiting arms. That's exactly the reason why she prefers to assess a situation before going in like that. It's certainly not going to prevent something like that from happening every time but it's going to make it quite a bit harder to pull off. Simply because she's not attacking doesn't mean she's holding back- quite the opposite in fact.

"He's very dangerous, isn't he? I meant what I said, earlier. If we're to win, this should take every ounce of our strength." If anything she seems happy at this prospect, though, a smile firmly placed on her face. "Why don't you back off and recuperate for just a moment?" she suggests. She then takes two steps towards Daigo, and pulls her arm back. One way of dealing with getting punched mid attack is to attack from a distance. Her arm swings forward in an underhand motion and golden sparkles trail after it, a large ball of shining energy shooting out from her hand and raising up into the air before arcing back down to try and get at Daigo from above.

It's not like sudden, massive pain is a new experience for Adira. After all, she got gobsmacked last week twice by Kain, and that's all it took to take her out of the fight. The chi-empowered right punch slams into Adira like a freight train; the results are amazing, impressive. Her body is blown back into one of the support girders; she slams into it, nearly denting the thing, then falls to her knees, gasping, her body shuddering from the sheer aftershock of that impact.

"... gotta.. toughen up some," she gasps, struggling to control her body, to regain control... growling, she gets to her feet, her body still shaking. But again she returns to her fighting stance, proving that, at least, she still has the fortitude of a Gedoite... Adira tenses her muscles, all at once, then releases them, screaming worldessly, running for Daigo, leaping high, tucked into a ball--then lashing out as she reaches Daigo, thrusting her right heel out in a shallowly-angled heep drop kick, her foot blazing with her own crimson fire.

Back off and recuperate? Never say die is more like it.

And once again, the two show how efficiently they can work as a team. And this is something that impresses Daigo. As Ingrid's blast flies at Daigo, he prepares himself for it, taking the brunt of it with his arms. However, he cannot react fast enough to stop Adira's chi powered kick, forcing him back even further. The gang boss grins. "Now this is more like it."

Unfortunately, Adira has made herself the prominent target once again, as she sweeps into the attack, Daigo pulling his left arm back, and swinging round with a powerful punch at the fighter in front of him, with a significant amount of force. With any luck, he'll catch her unprepared.

Ingrid's strategy doesn't bear fruit, but her entire position wasn't staked on it. Adria doesn't hold back, but instead throws herself right back into the line of fire. Very much what you'd expect from a student of Gedo High, now that she thinks about it. That's not the fighting style for her, but it seems rather effective for those that do use it.

Daigo definitely seems to be focused on his schoolmate for one reason or another, but Ingrid can, hopefully, use that to her advantage as well. With him swinging hard with a powerful punch, the blonde runs forward and then leaps into the air. The idea is to get over the top of him, do a flip and half twist, and land right behind him. If all that works out she's going to drop low and send a sweeping kick for his ankles, not so much to hurt his legs as to send him crashing to the ground. She wouldn't feel right trying to toss him outright; not only would it be ludicrous due to the size difference, but she doesn't want to send him flying off of the Tower.

Unprepared... yes. Apparently Adira is not bringing her A game today; Daigo's uppercut catches her before she can land and once again she's hurled backwards. She only barely has the presence of mind to hurl her body around and down, to avoid another crushing impact with a support beam; instead, she hits the steel flooring. "Gghh..." She groans, pushing herself back up. She landed on her right arm; that shoulder is now useless, the arm dangling loosely. Probably dislocated, hopefully not broken; the whole joint is a throbbing mass of pain.

And yet... and yet, the light in Adira's eyes hasn't dulled a bit; once again, Adira moves forward... but she doesn't -just- charge in.

Instead she closes to just about a foot outside of her kicking range.. and raises her right leg, cocked at the knee.

It's probably a little silly, but it's practically required, as Adira fires off a barrage of kicks, her right foot whipping around several times in a matter of seconds, almost like a shotgun blast: she yells, "URARARARARARARA!" ... hey, it works for some people.

This will require things to be precise. The Storm of kicks comes for Daigo, and he doesn't move to defend. Instead, he takes each blow full onbefore turning with what he feels is the final kick. The added propulsion from the strike gives him momentum. His fist glows with the red Chi. And as Ingrid attempts to go low and sweep Daigo's feet out from under him, that extra momentum from the kick throws him towards Ingrid faster than he could normally, moving to catch her full on with the full force of his Phoenix Fist. Ingrid connects with the Gang Boss, but he seems to not even notice the blow, moving with enough force to perhaps counteract it.

It is not a pleasant plan, but Daigo is good at using his opponents strengths against them. Even teamwork can be used to the advantage of the opponent, if they are clever. And this, as far as he can tell, is something neither of them expected.

There's no sign that anything is wrong for Ingrid until the last possible moment, at which point it's too late for her to do anything at all. To her it looks like Adira is getting her kicks in perfectly, until Daigo suddenly whips around and puts his fist in her face so hard she literally rockets away from the man, slamming into one of the large support structures on the tower. She falls forward limply, and lays there completely still for several moments. A moment later there's some twitching, and Ingrid slowly picks herself back up to her feet.

Right now she'd like to hang back, but she has a feeling Adira is going to be rushing in again, and they'd be better off sticking together than doing their own things. So with her head still throbbing from the overpowered hit to the face, she jogs right back towards Daigo and then leaps into the air. As she comes down it looks like she's heading right for him. She swings her right arm forward in front of herself and another wide swath of sparking energy springs forth, completely covering the area in front of her with the energy. That should, hopefully, give Daigo something to think about.

This fight is, pretty much, going as Adira expected--that is to say, she and Ingrid are pretty much being obliterated. Once again, Daigo applies his fists to the problem--and they come up wonderful. Really, she's envious--not of his power, or his skill, but the total package. It's something she hopes to emulate, someday--when she's strong enough.

Ingrid takes the blow but keeps on coming; that earns a large measure of respect from Adira, not that Ingrid probably carea about that.

Adira circles around to the side, as Daigo has to deal with Ingrid; for once, she isn't attacking, her body still remembering the pain from Daigo's other attacks. Sure, she could charge in again... but maybe it's time to try something -else-... Adira's brow furrows, as she watches and waits...

As Ingrid comes in with her sweep, Daigo is prepared. The Gedo boss extends his right with a quick jab, following up with a second strike at the opponent in front of him, even as he is struck by the energy from Ingrid's attack. Adira is probably wise to step back a second, but the Gang Boss, unfortunately, is in no position to really let up. At the very least, though, he's enjoying the match, as he once again prepares to see how his opponents are going to come for him.

This time it looks like Ingrid hasn't so much made a mistake of misjudging her opponent as misjudging her own partner. She was relying on a distraction so that she could sail in and strike, but instead she's left hanging in midair, and Daigo knows exactly what to do with her in that position. Simply put, he swats her out of the air. Sure, her attack definitely has an effect, but it's not near as much as the one his does. Luckily this one isn't nearly as brutal as the charged punch she took earlier. Still, the blows and ensuing fall to the ground is rather painful, and these hits are starting to take their toll on her.

She pops back up to her feet faster than she did before, and raises her eyebrows a little. "This is really starting to heat up, don't you agree?" She brushes her hair back over each of her shoulders. Deciding to simply give this her best shot, a brilliant flash of light and energy surrounds Ingrid. She leans forward afterwards and points towards Daigo, a triangle of energy appearing in the air in front of her. The actual attack comes in the form of a huge swirling disk of energy that seems to form exactly where Daigo is currently standing...

Hey. Hey. Adira started off the fight going in against Daigo all by her own--and she paid for it. You don't think she felt left out in the cold? Right then. No time for that--there's a fight that needs to be fought. Adira stays where she is--she has no intention of getting in there again, not while Ingrid is doing her thing. Instead, she stomps her right foot down, crimson chi-flames bursting up around her foot to her knee.

Dragging her foot a little, she sweeps it up in a high front kick, displaying a great deal of flexibility--and, incidentally, firing off a blazing, Adira-height crescent arc of chi flying along the flooring towards the Gedo Boss. It probably won't do much, even if it hits--but every bit counts, right?

Once again, Daigo is caught in a massive energy crossfire. As he is lifted by the energy beneath him, he can at least prepare for it, but it still isn't an ideal situation. But even as he lands, he is caught by a glancing blow from Adira's own chi strike. Clearly, it is time to return the favour. "Funny you should choose those words." The Gang Boss grins, standing to full height, and turning hs back to Ingrid. But it's not meant as a sign of disrespect, oh no.

It's to help him channel the massive tornado of flaming red chi around himself, and around the relatively small battlefield. The massive Super Phoenix Fire. As the attack dissipates, Daigo turns back to his opponents, looking a little worse for wear, but still prepared to fight.

Daigo manages to defend against Ingrid's attack handily, staving off the brunt of the psychic power and getting merely grazed by Adira's flaming attack as well, proving his more than capable of handling himself in even the toughest of situations. Not only that, but he's already making an incredibly powerful counterstrike of his own. Ingrid sees it coming and does her best to evade, but the pyre of red chi comes out all too quickly, and she's completely unable to escape. Getting swatted out of the air hurt, and the energy fist to the face was nasty. This, however, is on an entirely different level of pain.

Ingrid has never been very able to resist the effects of Chi, and though she's toughened up a little it's still far more than she can handle. The blast blows her away from the man, and she once again finds herself perilously close to the edge of the platform. Well, no one said fighting wasn't dangerous. At this point, she's done for. There's nothing she can do to keep conscious, let alone in the fight, for much longer. She can give Daigo a nice parting gift before she passes out, though.

Using the guard railing to pull herself to her feet, her form is once again bathed in light as she draws upon the remnants of her power. It seems like she's going to be attempting the same thing again; but then who can blame her? It is the most powerful thing she's got. She leans forward and taps the air in front of herself, and yet again a power amplifying triangle appears in front of her, and a large disk of energy forms around Daigo.

Ah. Well, Ingrid just... 'took one for the team'... so to speak. That could easily have been Adira... honestly? She rather hopes that Ingrid hits and finishes the fight. She certainly doesn't like her chances against Daigo by herself, whether the man's worn down or not. That blast... Adira turns her head towards Ingrid and shakes it, briefly.

"I'm sorry things didn't work out. I'll do my best to finish this as a win for us!" However, once again... she doesn't want to interfere with whatever Ingrid is doing. She has something planned, at least... Adira takes a deep breath, and another. It's only now that her muscles have stopped quivering in pain... for the moment.

She's entirely sure that won't last, but she'll wait and see first... if she's lucky--if Ingrid is lucky--then Ingrid will finish the fight. If not... well, she'll be ready.

At least, as ready as she can be.

That. Really. Hurts.

Daigo suffers the full strength of Ingrid's attackbeing thrown by the force of the blow. But, as luck would have it, he lands, and attempts to struggle to his feet, which eh can't quite do. He does, however, have enough in him for one last blow. "Hmph. Good work." He says, as he sweeps out with the back of his hand, leaving a trail of Phoenix Chi in the air, as he makes his swing at Adira. What can he say? He doesn't want to do his opponents the dishonor of holding back at any point here.

This time the attack hits, and Daigo isn't spared the full brunt of the attack. The huge disk of energy freezes him in place while assaulting him with the energy contained within, dragging him up into the air. Ingrid stumbles forward a few steps as this happens, and then gives him a quick little salute before channeling more power within herself. She raises both of her arms into the air, fists closed, and gathers up as much energy as she can in her impaired condition. As she does this the disk vanishes and Kazama plunges down. Just in time she leans forward and extends her arms forward towards him, and a gigantic symbol flares to life around him, made up entirely from her energy. With this last searing attack he'll hit the ground, and Ingrid collapses, landing in a sitting position on her legs, one hand pressed to her chest and the other pressed to the ground to help support her.

For a moment--just a moment--Adira's eyes gleam, and she almost makes a move to deny the big man his attack--by attacking back. Fortunately, common sense takes over--and she sets her feet and brings her hands up to brace against that crushing backhand. The blow still makes her stumble, several steps, in fact; but it doesn't knock her down and it doesn't keep her down.

"Jesus Christ," she mutters, under her breath, shaking out her arms. "... unbelievable." Daigo may just have a new fan in Adira. The half-Israeli girl looks at Daigo--then turns to Ingrid.
