SNF 2008.03 - Kain vs JaeHoon/Adira/Shurui

Description: It's Kain versus three up and coming SNF fighters, but with a twist: one of his arms are bound. Will this inconvience make this fight an easy victory for our new heroes, or shall it still be a battle of wills straight to the finish? (Winner: Kain)

It's been some time since the younger son of Kim Kaphwan has been seen in the public fighting circuit. Numerous circumstances have kept him away, from being diligent in his studies to further training after what he judged to be a less than desirable showing in his last appearance..oh and most likely the girl who brings him water, too (Does she have a name? ._.). But today both time and will have renewed his zeal for the allure of the public arena and the assuredly worthy adversaries against which to test both the mettle of his skill and just spirit!

And what a match-up indeed, to be set against none other than the infamous Kain Heinlein, one of the better-known top-tier fighters in the circuit. Jae Hoon would not think himself ready for such an opponent..but apparently the league had thought so as well and saw fit to make him part of a team, the members of which are of names he does not know.

Still, strangers are just friends you haven't met yet, or so the saying goes! Jae Hoon is liable found at the appointed area well before anyone else, drilling himself in warm-ups and forms before the fight's beginning. A polite bow greets all when they should arrive, as well as strangely gleaming smile for his teammate, "Our opponent is strong, but justice is on our side!" He insists with a confidence he hopes to make contagious, "By working together, we'll grasp victory with our own hands!"

Claiming that you can beat someone with one arm tied behind your back is a common boast. It is not, however, one that is commonly made good on. Kain Heinlein isn't really one to brag, but then he's not the one who propsed this challenge. Still, he'll see it through. It should be interesting... and you never know when you might need to fight without being able to use one of your limbs. Broken bones happen.
Heinlein stands in a square set aside for the fight, standing patiently as his arm is bound. Judging by the amount of effort going into the process, it's clear that SNF staff wants no chance of things breaking down during the fight. Kain is actually fitted with a harness to which the arm is tightly bound, with metal chains. Rope might scorch and weaken, but even Kain's flames aren't likely to accidentally break these chains. Every so often Kain is instructed to test his bonds, occasionally causing some creaking from the chains as he momentarily strains against them.

Saturday Night Fight. Practically a legend in the fighting world; so many fighter's careers have been made or broken on the show, or so it's said. Of any regular fighting circuit, the SNF are the cream of the crop. So the legends go, at least. Though she'd signed up upon hearing that she could, Adira wasn't expecting to be chosen...

Much less chosen to go up against Kain Heinlein. As far as legends go, his is certainly one of the brightest; one of the winningest fighters in the Fights, and a man of incredible skill and power. Frankly, Adira is honored just to be in the same room with him. The prospect of fighting him? Well, she's confident, as always, but to say she isn't worried... well, that would be a lie. She's incredibly worried.

Adira walks into the laid-out match space, tightening her handguards and boots with an almost nervous air. Jae Hoon's bow is returned; the half-Israeli, half-Japanese fighting teen smiles at his rather infectious enthusiasm.

"I guess we'll have to see about that," she replies, levelly, then gazes across the way towards Kain, who has been, indeed, chained up. "I wonder if that'll be enough to really hold him back..."

You know, it may not be an unusual concept for someone to have a Chinese family name and, yet, have never been to China, but Shurui is quickly finding herself being faced with people who believe otherwise. Stuttering in broken Chinese and jealously guarding her belongings from thieves (god is it ever horrible to be on the other side of the stealer-stealee equation), the girl finds herself faced with her master and adoptive father's former world, which no possible way of dealing with it save for the few things he taught her about his previous life. ... For someone who gave her a Chinese identity out of nowhere, you'd think Muda'd be a little less tight-lipped about his country of birth.

Further compounding this is the inability for some people to tell whether Shurui, even with her name, is either an effeminate good-looking young boy, or..... an unfeminine girl who hasn't quite sank into puberty just yet. Especially since said girl is in the habit of wearing loose-fitting clothes. Or rather, she's too cheap to buy clothing that fits her just right. She'll outgrow it! Maybe. After being pointed to the men's restrooms when asking for one in halting Chinese, the girl just gave in and looked for bathrooms with symbols on them.

Oh yeah, and she has a match with a man who seems more powerful than even that one man he fought in her first Neoleague match. Kain..... something. Henland? Hindlin? Heinlind? Something. Walking out into the stage, glasses on and a hoodie covering her head, she has to show her pass to be taken as something other than some fangirl trying to get closer to one of the male fighters in the ring. God, this always happens! At least she'll have people fighting alongside her that'll distract the guy while she prepares an appropriate defen-

She sees- er, well, more like hears Jae Hoon speak. He's sort of a fuzzy blob to her, but his actions and voice right loud and clear: "...... I'm fucked." Thankfully, it's at the lowest volume the girl can manage. Pulling back the hood and running a pale hand through unruly grey hair in a vain attempt to tame it, Shurui takes her place, taking off her glasses as she directs her gaze towards the chained.... Kain? "...."

Oh hell. Big, black, powerful, and overwhelming. Angry. Massive, like a monstrous bull, but hardly out of control. Calculated, even. ..... This is going to be a painful fight.

Adira glances over at Shurui as (s?)he arrives. Okay, no, wait. That's a girl, she's sure. Even if it is rather hard to tell. Looks like Kain's been fully restrained, so far--in as much as the SNF officials want him to be restrained. Right. The announcer gets to announcing; he calls Jae Hoon, Adira, and Shurui in turn, but Adira's barely hearing it. Her heartbeat is pounding in her head--a strange sort of nerves making her world almost throb. Is it fear, or anticipation? Maybe both.

She turns her most confident smile on Jae Hoon and Shurui. "Guess this is, as they say, what separates the men from the boys," she says, to the two of her teammates for this fight. She's got no idea that Shurui attends Gedo--would likely be interested in talking to Shurui if she did know, but that's beside the point. She can sense that the fight is about to be called for a start, and so she turns towards Kain again, and strides forward, closing in on him...

... but not attacking, not yet. This is a rare thing for her, to be up against someone of such intense power... she's not ready to just go jumping in against him, not yet.

The other two team members may not seem to exist at all to the quiet short girl, but the reality is that it's anything but that. If this was one-on-one, she'd act differently, but having allies completely changes the equation. All Shurui can do it hope that someone attacks first, because it sure as hell won't be her. Instead, she retreats back, navigating in hopes of not being sighted as Kain's possible first hit. Of course, it's not fear that drives this, but an analytical mind and anh acute knowledge of how her body seems to handle chi. That is, her body *can't* handle it. The fact that the energy her own body produces is not chi but in fact psi made this fact into less of a vexing problem she has and something more logical; perhaps, psi and chi have a sort of weird relationship?

Well, anyway, when she jumps in, she'd better make her hits count for the sake of the team. So those dark eyes are focusing on Kain, analyzing every twist and flow of that dark chi power that his physical body houses. With this knowledge, she'll strike, and make her strikes count.

Seeing as how his other two teammates have decided to fall back and observe Kain's actions (And who wouldn't against a man like that?) it falls to Jae Hoon to take the initiative. If nothing else, it will pave the path for the other two to lead in with their own attacks, should his prove unsuccessful. His bare feet have grown used to the feel and tread of the ground beneath him thanks the warm-ups, allowing the second Kim child to boost off into a natural sprint towards their partially binded opponent. Despite the impression one might have gotten from him a moment, he's far from impetuous (If that's what you're looking for, kindly look up his older brother). The determination in his eyes shines fierce, his movements not without careful thought.
Leaping scant few feet short of Heinlein, the korean youth seems to launch into a strong kick to his side, but in a beguiling maneuver twists at the last moment to aim decisive strike at his head. Time to see just how well the famed fighter was able to get by with only one arm.

COMBATSYS: JaeHoon successfully hits Kain with Change-Up Kick.

Kain gives the chains one final stress test and the staff seems satisfied. They're then quick to make themselves scarce as the other fighters start moving into position. A good idea, since it's not much longer before the fight begins. And right away Kain sees some issues with being bound up. When Jae Hoon kicks out at him Kain's able to spot his plan, but he's not quite able to get out of the way. In addition to making his arm unavailable, being bound up also somewhat limits the mobility of Kain's torso, causing him to be a bit too slow to learn out of the way of the kick. Jae Hoon's foot clips Heinlein's head, forcing him to take a few steps to regain his balance, but a quick shake of his head seems to be enough for him to recover.
Heinlein takes a brief moment to glance at his opponents. A quick glance at their eyes tells him what he needs to know. Jae Hoon is confident, whether or not that's justified. Adira is cautious, but she also seems confident. Shurui, on the other hand, seems to have a better idea of just what she's up against... Which means that she may be the weak link. And, conveniently, make her an example to instill the same weakness in the other two. Decision made, Kain begins advancing on Shurui.
He only takes a few steps before leaping into the air to close the rest of the distance. His arms may be bound, but that doesn't prevent him from lashing out with his right leg. Black flames surrounds his foot as the kick nears Shurui, trailing behind him as he closes in for an explosive kick.

The first moments are over, and Adira suddenly can hear the cheering of the crowd, a high-pitched roar with deeper undertones. It's still faint in her ears but it fills them completely. She's here--on the big stage--up against one of the most powerful fighters in the world. Really, can her day get any better? Well, yes, actually; they could win. Shurui hangs back a little, just like Adira; the half-Israeli glances over at her teammate and nods, as Jae Hoon charges into the fray--and strikes a perfect kick.

Well, as a fellow kicking specialist--she knows the signs of Tae Kwon Do when she sees them--she can't help but want to jump into the fray as well, now, can she? "Here I go!" she cries, as she takes off, much like Jae Hoon. Hopefully she'll get to Kain before Kain gets to Shurui--but maybe not. In any case, she lunges to the attack, taking a small hop, twisting in midair to 'wind' her kick.

When she lands, it's on her left foot; her right whips around in a low sweep kick, and then she rotates again, hopping up to kick out at Kain's temple with her right foot again, and then landing on her right leg to deliver a high hook kick with her left, targeting Kain's temple twice.

COMBATSYS: Kain successfully hits Shurui with Schwarzer Stob.

Okay, Shurui was wrong with her first impression of Jae Hoon. While impetuousness could be something that puts off the girl in situations that strategy would be better suited for, Jae Hoon's collective movement and the collective flow of energy inside of his body show something more collected and calm. Well, that solves that pro-

Only, it doesn't. Kain knows a weak link when he sees one, apparently, and Shurui can only do her best to attempt to parry that leg with a horizontal shove of her arm. The arm never even has a chance to connect, that beguiling power and experience overriding whatever skills she has at the moment. "....FFf-!!" The kick itself she could possibly handle, but the black flame that trails behind it? Lots of pain. The beautiful buildings that serve as the fighters' backdrop becomes a dizzying kaleidoscope as the girl spins through the air, blood marking the ground in an arc as she lands.

Ow.

"Kheh..." Wearily, she gets back up, spitting blood to the side, the blood streaming from her nose becoming an annoying trickle into that suddenly open spitting mouth. "... *Finally*, a language I can actually speak..." Here's where the pain gets made up for with catharsis. She's got anger, a possible opening, an opponent who can take it, a situation that calls for it, and no immediate need to hold back. Time to funnel some of that frustration into this Mr. Heinland. Heinrin. ..... Kain.

Isn't that a biblical name?

Forcing her body to move far more quickly than it wants to, Shurui attempts to rush Kain in conjunction with her teammate's attack(s?) pivoting in at the best possible moment to get a clear one-on-one moment with her fists and the core of Kain's chest. If the first fist hits, the second one hits nary a nanosecond later, the two wheeling in a natural, precise motion, weaking one key spot that could not possibly be a simple pummeling.

The fact that Jae Hoon's attack succeeds surprises him as much as it does anyone else. Even with an arm subdued, there was no doubt that Kain remains a powerful opponent (As he was about to demonstrate on Shurui). Young as he is, the more focused of the Kim brothers does not let that appealing sense of triumph distract him for even second, preparing to drop low and make a sweep for Kain's legs...except he's no longer there.
His ears tell him the story of the next few moments precious seconds before his eyes turn upon the spectactle, just in time to see Shurui spinning away in delirium of pain and blood, all while Adira launches an attack of her own. "Striking a girl first?! (Yes, he'd figured that out somehow, as well) And with such viciousness!" The youth grits his teeth, fist clenched and body held low as he breaks into another sprint, "Villainy!" He leaps into the air, deigning to let punishment come down from on high as he seems to forcibly change direction at the crest of his leap, coming in at a downward angle, his heel aimed squarely at the back of Kain's neck.

And now Kain has all three of his opponents coming at him at once, and things become a bit trickier. Adira's low sweep strikes Kain's legs, though there's not enough force there to drop him. He attempts to step back before she can follow up with her second kick, but she manages to land her dual strikes to his temple. It's enough to force him to the side, but not to leave him open for the other two. Kain spins around, turning his back to Shurui as she comes on. There /are/ uses for the chains... He manages to get them in between Shurui's fists and himself. The chains hold, but they absorb the majority of the impact. Then a quick duck brings him below the level of Jae Hoon's incoming kick.
Kain doesn't stay down for long, however. With Jae Hoon overhead, Kain suddenly lunges back upwards. His right leg snaps up at a sharp angle, shooting to slam an explosive kick into him before he can even hit the ground.

She struck--and Kain has yet to strike back. First Shurui, now Jae Hoon... she can't help but think that Kain intends to strike her next. But she cannot turn away from her principles, her fighting style, her philosophy. So she remains close, though she can't help but think that it is akin to suicide. She may well burn in the flames of Kain's power... but she's a fighter, not a scaredy-cat.

"Come on then," she murmurs, backing up four steps then taking two steps to gather momentum. She tucks into a ball, of sorts, seeking to land on Kain's shoulders, clamping her knees onto his head; this is a modification of her original technique, as she doesn't have the weight to do what she would normally, with Kain's additional restraints, so instead of trying to flip him forward, she twists, attempting to apply some torque to his neck.

Too close, her mind screams, too close to this man...

'Striking a girl-?' Oh. Jae Hoon's going all white knight for her? Shurui spares Jae Hoon an embarrassed glance as he lectures Kain on his behavior, her bloody lips gaping open then shutting back up just as quickly as the battle trudges onward in due course.

*pow* *pow* *pow* So Kain used those chains to his advantage. Clever. Shurui continues in briefly with her round of blows to Kain's back, retreating back to possible safety as the man is knocked down by Jae Hoon's precise kick to Heinlein's neck. "..." Another futile wiping of her nose only worsens the mess, metallic tang staining the top of her sensitive tongue. Spitting out another bit of blood, Shurui stays back for now, flinging a hand upward to send an arced line of gray energy, like an angry grandpa of will o' wisps everywhere, speeding down towards Kain's body.

COMBATSYS: Kain successfully hits JaeHoon with Schwarze Lanze.

A hiss of discontent escapes Jae Hoon's lips when a slight duck is all it takes for Kain to completely bypass his attack. Any lingering disappointment is quickly channeled with all too palpable awareness that he's place himself in an idea position to be counterattack. All the mid-air twisting and aims to land in a rolling crouch away from Kain's vengeance are shattered in the instant Kain's foot connects with his shoulder, to devastating consequences.

The force of the blow alone is enough to render impact the sound of which may make squeamish his nearer teammates, but the burst of energy issuing forth is the true horror, dark flames writing about the younger Kim brother's body as he spirals haphazardly away from the fight with all the helpless, flailing trajectory of a flung doll. His world a swirling vortex of pain, the visage is not helped much when he unceremoniously hits the ground, rolling another several feet before finally coming to a stop and lying still for a few moments.

It occurs to him at some point that he is not only still alive but conscious as well and the Korean youth groggily comes to stand, vision slowly unblurring. His right arm, the shoulder of which Kain strick, dangles limply at his side, dislocated by the force of the attack. Small comfort that he doesn't rely much on use of his arms for attacking, but it will cause considerable discomfort after the fight.

Keeping his distance, it's now Jae Hoon's turn to stay back and observe, newly wary eyes gauging when he'll see fit to jump back into the quickly disassembling brawl.

Kain's not quite quick enough to get out of Adira's way as she gets up onto his shoulders... so he just ignores her. It's a little tricky, with the way she's trying to wrench his head off with her knees, but she doesn't seem to be having much luck. And she doesn't seem to be slowing Kain down too much, either. A quick sidestep brings him out of the way of the energy shot from Shurui, letting it sail harmlessly past. And maybe dislodging Adira at the same time.
If that doesn't do it, though, perhaps Kain's sudden surge forward will take care of it and leave Adira to pick herself up off the ground. Black flame engulfs Kain's arm as he charges Shurui, then sweeps the limb out toward her. The flame extends, fanning out and engulfing an area that follows the arc of Kain's arm... and contains Shurui, if she's not quick enough to get out of the way. And if all of that hasn't been enough to dislodge Adira, Kain's next move will probably be to make her wish it did.

Oh, she wasn't trying to wrench his head off. Adira knows better than that. But she quickly leaps off afterwards; clearly, that's not going to hurt Kain at all. In fact, she leaps off just in time to see Kain go after Shurui again. She's a little puzzled; so far, only she and Jae Hoon hav done any appreciable damage to this monster of a fighter. But she isn't complaining, exactly, certainly not vocally.

Her leap takes her past Kain, opposite the direction he's going; there's absolutely no reason for her to be in the way of Kain while he's attacking Shurui. She lands, turns, and sees Kain essentially giving her his back. It's an irresistable opportunity, really; unlike some martial artists, she has no compunctions about striking someone from behind.

Once again she takes a couple steps to build momentum, and she leaps again, throwing herself into a tumble; however, her arc is much lower and flatter, and as she nears, she comes out of her tumble with a shallowly-angled heel drop kick from her left leg, her leg sheathed in crimson fire from sole to knee.

COMBATSYS: Shurui blocks Kain's Schwarz Cutter.

The arc of grey energy zips past Kain, and, already, Shurui's planning her next move. The idea that Kain is a tough opponent doesn't really register with her anymore; he is instead a puzzle, something to be deconstructed into smaller and smaller bits, whether it's as quick as a tornado slicing through an old barn or as slow as rain against a mighty mountain.

Running in with her next plan of attack, she seems to begin to stop and divert herself almost immediately before Kain has a chance to make his move. Hence again, however, Kain overwhelms whatever advantage Shurui's third eye gives her with his quick movement. Instead of throwing her trust in her ability to dodge or divert that flame, she trusts herself into the attack itself, her arms up to absorb the hot blow of Kain's dark flames.

*Hothothothot*

The suddenly burning sleeves of Shurui's hoodie causes the girl to cast it aside, slipping out of it in one smooth motion to leave it burning on the grounds. Now, dressed in her white tank top, her true gender comes to light, confirming Jae Hoon and Adira's suspucisions. In short, yep, Shurui's just a petite girl who wears baggy clothing. And benefits from it, in this case, since she could slip out of that hoodie with ease.

The clone's body sings with exhaustion and pain; its upper half stoops low, but Shurui's face shows no trace of the exhaustion her body feels. Just.... a candid smirk. A match where she has nothing to lose, where losing is a cost she can afford if she keeps going. The best of all situations. But, for a second, she'll gather her wits before charging that dark chi again, pressing backwards from Kain's possible range.

He may come for her again because of this like a wolf coming for the kill. However, if he does? That's one more opening for her teammates.

COMBATSYS: Shurui gains composure.

He knew going into this fight that Kain was not to be trifled with, but dancing about him scared was no way to do things either. Still, it wasn't until he truly fought against the man that Jae Hoon comprehended just what the true distance between them was, of the world Kain exists in that seems so high above the one he occupies. Was his father even among those hallowed halls?

No, of all possible thing, that was something he could not doubt. Kim Kaphwan would be able to approach this man on equal footing, of the Jae Hoon feels a certainty. And is his son, the same potential existed within him. Kain was holding nothing back from them, and he would do so in kind. He would see precisely how he measured against those who stand upon the precipice of the world, and once the distance was ascertained continue upon that ever-ascending path. His chances don't matter, his injury doesn't matter. His eyes narrows, and he waits make his move.

There!

It's a wonder he's able to close the distance in such a short time, injured as he is, but it's feat the Kim scion performs. In the aftermath of Kain's assault on Shurui does he leap back in, his mouth open in a silent shout, powerful leg raised up and cocked back as he thrusts forth to aim not one, nor two, but four thunderous kicks all across Kain's exposed flank, each hit harder than the last.

Unfortunately, Kain only has one arm available to him. He's able to swing his left arm up to block Adira's kick as she comes in, but that leaves him open to Jae Hoon. Lucky for him that Shurui is occupied. While Kain is fending off the kick from Adira, the Korean is able to drive four kicks into Kain from behind, sending him stumbling forward. It takes him longer than it usually would to recover his balance, as well. The lack of an arm is problematic...
...but not enough to stop Kain. If Adira was waiting for attention from Kain, she doesn't need to be disappointed any longer. Kain thrusts his hand out toward her face, greenish blue energy swirling in his palm. It quickly begins increasing in size, forming a massive sphere of raw, churning chi energy. No special chi senses are needed to tell that there's some nasty power there. And a moment later it blasts forward, racing toward Adira.

COMBATSYS: Adira endures Kain's Himmlische Seele.

Here it comes. Adira's eyes widen as Kain gathers his power into that swirling blast of blue-green energy, as big as her torso, sending it racing for her position. Not only has she garnered his attention, but she's done so in one of the worst ways ever... clearly, she has only one option available to her. She can handle and manipulate chi, but not enough to have a hope of dissipating that attack, much less cutting through it. All this goes through her mind in a matter of moments; by the time she's done thinking, the sphere is almost upon her.

"aaaaaaaaaaaaAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!" It's a primal scream, as Adira literally lowers her shoulder and drives into the sphere. The energy literally swallows her upper body; her normal surge would have been enough to take her to Kain, but the blast itself is forcing her back. But it isn't enough to blow her out of the way; the girl is able to force her way through. Fortunately her leather clothing is pretty tough; the whole of Adira's upper body is literally steaming with the residual energies. She was literally forced backwards a step, when she impacted--but she was able to build up some 'go' force, and the pain is its own motivator.

Suddenly she's leaping, lunging forward, leaping through that low arc, her right heel stabbing out for Kain's midsection, leg sheathed in fire from heel to knee, yet again.

And she's still screaming.

It wasn't a long enough rest, but it's enough for Shurui to plan her next attack. Which..... isn't an attack at all. While Adira provides a distracting display of force and primal rage, Shurui is suddenly darting low in the background behind Kain, her eyes set on Jae Hoon now that his responding flurry of kicks has ended.

She'd lean in close and say something, except the young man has a good eight inches on her. "Jae Hoon, right?"

She leans up, mumbling something close to the Korean's ear, hawk-like eyes directed towards Kain and her voice low enough to not be immediately heard by the two other fighters. "If you want your next attack to hurt..." What follows are a notation of sorts, a quick map of spots Jae Hoon could possibly target with his Tae Kwon Do. It could be considered instructions, but Shurui'll leave it up to Jae Hoon in how he follows through.

....... Of course, what this exchange looks like to everyone else in the crowd that's around them? .... Shurui doesn't want to know.

In a fight like this, no one is going to get a rest for along as they like, least those who nearest up on the offense. Another successful strike on Jae Hoon's behalf, but it's no reason to start getting sloppy now. Having backed up a few paces as he senses the spike in chi output from the dangerous fighter, he's about jump in for another attack when the hushed whispers from Shurui waylay him (Meanwhile, Adira gets smoked).

What she tells him is indeed indeterminable to anyone else, his eyes in careful observance of Kain's movements, his head nodding several times. "Thank you..Shurui, if am correct." He offers her a smile in thanks, again with the strange but not quite full sort of gleam. Maybe he was just a prodigious brusher, "Fear not! Like I said, ours is the side of justice."

And thus he's off, springing towards the momentarily distracted blonde fighter, waiting for the opportune moments before leaping in a spin, putting all conceivable power his dispose into side-swiping kick that'll nail the man's shoulder, should luck hold true.

Adira lands her flaming kick--opening Kain's guard. Perhaps not by a lot, but certainly enough for her to land the rest of her combination. Her voice is still raised, her yell part kiai, and part still that primal scream, as she explodes into a flurry of kicks--spinning roundhouses, knee strikes, crescent kicks, thrust kicks. The flurry continues for about five seconds, finishing with a short hop and a roundhouse kick--and then Adira lands again, then leaps upwards. Her right knee extends sharply upwards into a flying knee, that knee sheathed in her crimson fire, and then she unfolds her legs and flips, kicking Kain in the chin in a midair flip kick, her feet also ablaze with power--and then she's landing... stumbling on the landing, simply due to still being in pain.

Once that first kick lands, Kain can't help getting knocked about between Adira's series of strikes from the front, and Jae Hoon's kick from the back (timed perfectly to cooperate with Adria's kick to his chin) only serves to make things worse. The combined effect of the two assaults actually keeps Kain from moving much, so when it ends he drops to one knee but remains in pretty much the same spot.
He doesn't try to stand up... not yet. Rather than waste time moving, Kain goes right on the attack. Planting his hand on the ground, Kain sweeps his leg around in an attempt to knock Adira off her feet. He then swings one leg up, intent on bringing a flaming foot down to drive her torso into the ground with an explosive impact.

The man is amazing; even chained down... even handicapped... facing multiple opponents... Adira is impressed. More than impressed. And he's seen fit to come after her again. She begins to move--one of the overriding tenets of Sen'ou-ryuu Shuujutsu is that attack and defense should, whenever possible, be the same thing--attack and defend. Defend and attack. This is the true path, as far as she is concerned.

But Kain is fast---too fast--and that sweep takes her off her feet before she can do much more than gather her legs underneath her. Those legs are suddenly swept out and she goes upended, yelping--then gasping, as that heel lands dead center on her sternum, almost snapping it. Her breath leaves her, in an explosive gasp, and it's all she can do to roll away from Kain, her arms wrapped around her chest to protect it. "N--no... no more..." she gasps, knowing her limits... she's done in this fight. She's not knocked out, but another blow from Kain could prove to be permanently disabling, if not fatal. This fight isn't worth that much to her; there's a fine line between bravery and stupidity.

"Y-yeah," says Shurui, somewhat ataken back by the confident Jae Hoon's..... teeth gleam. .... You know a teeth gleam is powerful when even a half-blind girl can see it. Looking over to Kain, then back to Jae Hoon and his trimuphant words, a bead of worrisome sweat runs down the side of Shurui's forehead. ".... but we're three people. Fighting a guy with one arm chained behind him."
.... Maybe she could use that chain to her advantage?
Ow. Shurui visibly winces as Kain's attack pummels through Adira's defenses, leaving the girl on the ground. If Kain decides to go after her next? The grey-haired girl may very well be joining Adira. Hm. The clone can only assume Kain's next plan of attack; for now? She'll act as if Kain will come after her next.
And if that happens, Shurui needs to make her next few actions count.
".... This better work..."
Pressing around to the side and then to the back of the one-armed Kain, Shurui suddenly darts forward, reaching out for the enchained arm that's pressed up against Kain's back, planning to use it to her advantage if he's not quick enough to evade her nimble hand...

Jae Hoon shares that wince as Kain inarguably takes one of their teammates out of the fight with a single, powerful kick. It was an all too pertinent reminder of the skill they were dealing with, along with the solemn knowledge that it could easily be one of them in the next few moments. But even this is not enough to cause Jae Hoon to shrink away. No, rather that he feels even greater upon him the urge to fight, to give his all. He's not yet there, he needs but a little more...

In the mean time though, he has no problem keeping the one-armed fighter on his toes!

While he doesn't truly see Shurui's aim, he's happy to provide any confusing effect that he can to take the other man's attention off of it, namely by dancing in close and seeming ready to make a strike before vaunting back, as if anticipating some manner of pre-emptory attack. Ah, but the rub is there, the evasion being a mere faint! In no time flat does his spring back forward with a kick levied square on the center of Kain's chest. Why ruin a so-far winning formula, after all?

Kain's kicks still pack a great deal of power, but he's getting worn down by having had to deal with three opponents thus far. Putting one of them down for the count helps, but he's definitely not moving as smoothly now as he was at the start of the fight. And his right shoulder is starting to ache from the strain put on it by his bound arm. To say nothing of the pain elsewhere from the blow he's taken.
But even with one arm tied behind his back, Kain is still fast enough to twist around, denying Shurui's attempt to grasp the restraints. This, however, leaves him with his right side toward Jae Hoon. He attempts to twist around further so that he can bring his arm up defensively, but he doesn't have enough time before the Korean's kick slams into his chest, knocking him back.
The chains creak for a moment as Kain's arm strains against them, although he's not really making a concentrated effort to free himself. They're just... irritating. But he's still got his legs free, so at least he can swing out with one foot, attempting to swing a flaming kick into the side of Shurui's head. If he can get himself down to one opponent, he just might have a chance still...

Shurui's body still hasn't quite recovered from those two blows it recieved. And, if she's dealt a third one, she definitely won't be able to withstand that either. And yet, when that third eye shows the flow of Kain's black chi, the way his body begins turning to greet her, Shurui takes one look at the man's energy signature and makes a decision. The clone won't flinch back. She'll come to meet that blow, whatever it turns out to be, and use that opening to enact her own attack. It'll be a painful manuver and, well if this all blows up in her face? .... Well, it's up to Jae Hoon.

He's really not that bad a fellow, despite Shurui's first intial impression.

The attack turns out to be in the form of a black leather shoe, barreling at her with a painful accompaniment of flame. Instead of flinching back or even blocking, Shurui seems to simply lean into the kick, the impact of shoe against bloody cheek almost audible. Instead of being thrown to the side, Shurui is simply mowed over, knocked down like a blade of grass to hit against the ground with a wet thud.

This part? Intentional. However, she was hoping she could have handled that attack a little better.

Forcing herself up for one last shot, the little urchin of a girl, nose and swollen mouth bleeding, looks at Kain Heinlein and, attempting to apply a shock of psi power to the man's chest from her downward angle, says, "....You owe me an outfit!"

Jae Hoon can count himself fortunate that he's managed land as many hits on Kain as he's done..yet each seems to come at the cost of teammate! Gritting his teeth as Shurui falls, the Kim brother silenty admonishes himself for failing to distract their opponent as he'd hope. That would not be an issue now, though. Kain had all the time in the world for him..and Jae Hoon was acutely aware of that. "Allies, you won't have fallen in vain!" He breathlessly swears to himself, being that they likely cannot hear him anyways, "Leave the rest to me!"

Of course, it's not like anyone has any choice in the matter! Nonetheless, at least Jae Hoon has bold actions to back-up bold works. Despite the concentration necessary for remaining on his feet and concious, Kain has been spending some time this fight for observing his opponents on a higher level than just this fight. Jae Hoon, sadly, seems a bit too tied up with honor to be of much use to Kain. The girls, however, might have some hope. Of course, it generally takes more than a single fight to determine whether or not someone /really/ has strength.
Granted, Jae Hoon is the one still standing, but that's not necessarily the kind of strength Kain is interested. Scratch that for a moment- Kain has to step to the side as Shurui's psi blast comes zapping up toward him and /then/ he only has one opponent remaining. Who comes in right from the same direction as the last attack Kain dodged. Granted, he's got speed going for him, and a bit of surprise on his side, but it's not too difficult for Kain to simply move a bit further.
And then Kain raises his free arm... and keeps raising it until his hand is pointed to the sky. Why point up, rather than at Jae Hoon? He does appear to be doing something, as there's a flash of gold light in the palm of his hand before he clenches his fist. If Jae Hoon's gaze follows Kain's hand and he continues to look up, he'll see the actual plan... The air above him swirls with blue energy, rapidly forming into a thick cloud before punching down to the ground in three punishing waves meant to knock the Korean down and make him stay down.

Even worn down, the man continues to evade their attacks with little effort. To many it would be disheartening spectacle, but the second son of Kim Kaphwan refuses any notion of despair. Still, Jae Hoon's useless right arm serves as a poignant reminder of when Kain caught him in the midst of a dodged attack not so long before that Jae Hoon is quick to move himself away as best he can, though he's a bit confused when it seems no attack comes at all. In fact, why did he seem to just be standing their, pointing at the sky..?

The breakign of light through the overcast sky draws his gaze upwards, and with widended eyes does the younger Kim brother realizes all too late just what Kain was doing.

The first strike lays him out forcefully on his stomach before he even realizes what has happened, hasping for breath and struggling to stand again when the second blast beats him down again. Still he attempts to arise, only to be denied again by the third blast, his gi now singest and lightly smouldering underneath the fury of the assault.

A few moments pass, and it may seem to some that Kain has win. However, he likely knows better. It's a visible struggle, but Jae Hoon stands in the end, his eyes cast down at his feet. He too, had been paying attention to this fight more ways than one. He too had felt out the aura of this man and felt a premonition, reinforced when he invoked the fullness of his power against Adirah and now solidified after having tasted the cruel energy for himself. He knows, or believes he knows, what his opponent is. And that is enough. "Father.." He murmurs, again in a tone barely audible to all but himself, "Give me the strength to defeat this man."

And that seems to be all he needs, a new kind of life taking over the young man as visible change in the pattern of his chi overtakes him, what was once under so firm a hand now flows freely and unabashadly. Specifically, it all seems to flow downwards, into his legs. Lifting his determined gaze up Kain, Kim Jae Hoon raises his leg up at the man in threat, "Evil..." The word flows like iron from his lips as his outstretched foot ignites with the brightest orange of flame, "Shall not be forgiven!" Decisively stamping down, the flame snuffs out an instant. But fire now burning within will not be so easily quenched.

Evil? Really now! Kain's not evil, he has all of humanity's best interests at heart! People just don't generally realize that those /are/ their best interests. Or maybe it's for beating up the two girls? Jae Hoon would have done the same, in Kain's position! There are various other arguments that could be made, as well, but Kain doesn't make any of them. Talking is simply wasting time in this fight, so he'll just answer in the most straightforward way possible...
Taking a deep breath, Kain charges forth once more. Even battered as he is, his strides still quickly eat up the ground between himself and Jae Hoon, and then he's leaping into the air. His right leg flies out as Kain shifts into a flying kick, aiming to land a blow in the center of the Korean fighter's chest. Black flame laps out behind Heinlein as he sails through the air, promising additional pain should it connect.

Discussions on the nature of evil aside, right now Jae Hoon has more immediate problems of big, nasty looking kick headed his way to deal with. Perhaps emboldened by his own bravado or simply seeing that there's no realistic escape for him at this point, Jae Hoon chooses to stand his ground instead and hope only to have the strength left to pour everything into one final effort. The kick connects viciously, black flames roiling about him and threatening to pull him into darkness...but Jae Hoon does not fall, nor does give up the slightest inch. Not when he has his opponent just where he wants him.

The strain of this attack will surely put him on the floor to join his comrades, but that is an inevitable result now, and he might as well meet it head on. Chi seems to explodes from his lower half as the youth launches a furious assault against Kain's person, kicks flying with a fury beyond normal comprehension. So fast, so thunderous, his legs being to glow red hot, coalescing into a rising somersault kick that should knock him skywards with any hope...

And...partial success!!??

A massive plume of flame erupts towards sky in Kain's face, but it wasn't quite enough to lift him airborne where the fireworks -really- a would have started. A soft tch escapes the youth, who plummets back to the ground, "Maybe next time.." He murmurs, before soundly striking his head upon the ground and joining his fellows in defeat.

Kain is knocked backwards, but not skywards, when Jae Hoon's feet and flames collide with him. This is largely because he's managed to get his arm in front of the attack in time. The impact blasts apart his sleeve and isn't exactly kind on the flesh beneath, but when Jae Hoon falls Kain is still standing. He pauses for a long moment, taking a deep breath before doing anything further.
It doesn't take too long for the SNF staff to figure out that the fight is over, and a few of them begin making their way out to untie Kain. At least, until his bound right arm begins to glow blue. He closes his eyes for a moment, the chains creak as he starts to put some strain on them, then there's a brighter flash of blue, a loud crack, and broken links of chain flying about as Kain lowers his arm, bending it at the elbow stiffly a few times. He looks at his three fallen opponents for a moment, then turns and begins walking off.

COMBATSYS: Kain has ended the fight here.
