Another week, another SNF--in lieu of being a rich, lazy college student who likes to travel, being a hard-working high-school-aged fighter who signs up for SNF works just as well! The magnificent winding staircase of the Vatican is... well, it's beautiful. It worries Mizuki a little; after all, any missed attacks may in fact be smashing up some beautiful stuff... but the staircase seems wide enough and the ceiling on it high enough.
Currently, she's standing at the bottom of the staircase, but, when nudged lightly by one of the organizers, she moves up the staircase approximately ten steps; dressed in her usual fighting outfit, she balances against the handrail and checks the tightness of her combat-capable sandals, ensuring that their rubberized soles mean she'll have a good footing.
And then she nods to the organizer and, waiting for her opponents to show, closes her eyes--and meditates. It may be for a different religion but the holy feeling of the place is incredible...
Zach's awe is not for any inherent holiness of a location. No, Zach is in awe of the building; it is a work of art in its own right. He looks a little worried; he has a certain... reputation for explosions.
Maybe that is why Howard Entertainment wanted to hold the match here? He looks at the card, and recognizes the names.
He frowns slightly; he was hoping maybe for people he has yet to face. You don't improve fighting the same people over and over and over again. Zach has a gap to bridge, and he is not sure that this fight will help him do that.
Katelynn's never been into religion really, but she can appreciate the scenic vista that the museum provides. She's also hoping not to cause any blasphemy by fighting here, it's just that this was where Howard Entertainment wanted them to fight. But she supposes the real issue is the fact she's taking on Zach. Then there's Mizuki, who she also remembers, but it's Zach who she really recognizes, since she had a Neo League match with him recently.
"We meet again," Katelynn says with her arms folded, dressed in her fighting attire. "This time, there is a third fighter in the fray, though. Will you come out on top again? Let's see what you can do this time," Katelynn says as she finishes stretching (yes on the stairs) and gets into her ready stance.

Mizuki nods to Katelynn; Zach she recognizes but hasn't seen in a while. In any case... oh, she's being addressed. She smiles, pleasantly, as she is addressed by the karateka--or at least, both her and Zach are. "I guess we really will have to see," she replies, as she moves up a couple more steps, making a bit more room for the other two fighters. There aren't many spectactors--the staircase isn't an ideal viewing spot--but there are numerous cameras set up and benches in front of monitors outside.
The editing team has their work cut out for them, for sure; a vague voice comes from outside the building, as the announcer does the prefight work--and then from a loudspeaker in the building: "Fighters ready?? THEN... FIGHT!!"
And we're off; Mizuki considers for a moment, then actually pushes off to hop down the stairs--seeking to strike low, through Zach's legs and upset his applecart; should all go well she'll end up at the bottom of the stairs again.

Zach figured that this might be coming. He knows he can beat Katelynn in a fair fight and while he does not know about Mizuki, he was fairly confident in his odds. So when the shrine maiden comes at him with the low kick, Zach throws a fist forward... and missed the girl completely.
That jagged spike of purple psycho-power that slices out of nowhere, however, slams into Mizuki and knocks here back to the stairwell. He takes a short hop and situates himself directly in the center of the circle made by the two staircases, and waits for Katelynn's move.
Mizuki's kick, however, does find Zach's flank, drawing a wince from the purple haired man. He didn't strike quite fast enough, apparently.
Well, it looks like Mizuki and Zach have gotten things underway between the two of them. Both of them manage to land an attack against each other, even if Zach's was more of a counter than anything. Either way, it's gotten Katelynn pumped up and ready to rock. When she sees that Zach is facing her, a slight smile forms on her face, as it's time to see if her rival can still stand up to her.
With that, Katelynn rushes towards Zach, aiming a swift punch directly at the side of his face.
Ow. Mizuki gets tagged by that flare of power and it proves to be quite effective; she is sent reeling, barely catching herself before slamming into the wall. Fortunately, she's able to regain her footing soon enough; that, however, -really hurt-, and with Katelynn and Zach facing off, this is a prime opportunity for Mizuki to be able to alter the course of history!
... or at least the course of this fight. Truthfully, she's not sure she wants to get between these two--but that's not the order of the day, now is it? Bracing herself against the wall, she pushes off, taking two big steps then leaping high, tucking into a ball, and whipping her right leg over and down in an attempt to peg Katelynn in the back of the head as she passes by.

Zach would consider that rivallry pretty one-way; the win-loss record between the two is solidly in his favor. However, that doesn't stop hiim from taking her seriously; he knows /exactly/ howhard she can hit. So his best option is to simply hurt her more than she does him. Simple, right?
Zach throws a fist towards the air, and that familiar rip of psycho-power pikes out from the marble floor, missing Katelynn completely as the incoming fist cracks his jaw. He tries to shake the cobwebs loose as he does so...

As soon as Katelynn's punch lands, she turns around to see Mizuki's incoming kick. Raising an arm to deflect it away, she absorbs most of the attack through her arm, and what remains is pretty much minor to her. Having gotten the better of Mizuki at this time, Katelynn decides to follow up with an over the shoulder throw, hoping to send her opponent down... in more ways than one!

Gotten the better of... indeed. Mizuki is flung into the stairs, painfully; she gasps, rolling away from Katelynn. Often, she's thought she needs to be more aggressive in the use of her power--her relatively unique power--and so she kind of nods to herself. Rising from her spill, she dashes upwards, going up and around the bend; they'll have to follow if they want at her.
Once up there, she stops--plants her feet--and concentrates. Energy flares up around her, gathering into a blue-green cloud of power that rains down upon her just like water... glowing blue-green water that fades just before it hits the floor...
Zach realizes that he has a full-on catfight on his hands here.
More the better for him, he thinks. Now's a good time to power-up. Zach focuses, and bright purple fire starts sweeping around him from out of nowhere.

Katelynn got her opponent, who's now trying to recover, and now Zach is doing the same. Katelynn's pretty much in the lead here, and she's not about to give it up. But it would be risky trying anything right now, since even though they're resting, they could be planning a surprise attack. Katelynn simply steps back so she can get a good look at her opponents, watching them carefully, and waiting their next move.

Left untouched, Mizuki's energy is drawn back into herself--in an altered form. She feels better once it hits--enough to descend a few steps, to check out the situation. It sure looks like the fight's stalled a bit at this point--the question is whether Mizuki believes she should do anything -about- it... with Zach doing his little powerup bit, and Katelynn stepping back...
Mizuki just waves, and scoots back up the stairs, giggling a little. It's a little calculated, but maybe they -will- follow... after all, they're -supposed- to fight their way up the staircase...

Zach chuckles slightly as Mizuki waves. He then looks to Katelynn.
"Maybe you should join her," Zach says as he dashes in, before going low. Psycho-power cloaks around his left shoulder as he rises up from the crouch, aiming the strike for Molina's midsection!

Nice try, but Katelynn's on the offensive, ready to take you out with her Palm Blaster, which is gonna hit you if you don't--

Unfortunately, Katelynn's not ready to strike in time, and she's sent down a bit of stairs, using a kippup to get up after rolling a little. She's a bit bruised from that one, but she's moreso humiliated that it didn't work the way it should've for her. She grumbles to herself.
Still nothin'. But she can hear the sounds of fighting, that's for sure. Well, might as well get some fighting done, even if she can't get them to come up the stairs... she gets on the banner and slides down, much like Mary Poppins. However, she doesn't have anything nearly as pacifistic and cheery in mind as a mere slide; it's really just a way to pick up speed.
After just a moment more she pushes off, using her hands to redirect her momentum, sending her vaulting towards Zach with what looks to be a flying kick--until she tumbles forward, seeking to snatch him by the shirt and redirect her momenum into a landing--planting her feet so she can hurl Zach up and over then down in a smashing blow to the stairs, followed by a burst of her icy chi.

Zach shifts his weight, forcing Mizuki to bust out the chi a touch early. The blast send him skidding back, gasping from the cold. Some of the flames pooling around Zach's feet wrap around him, as if to warm the young man back up.
Zach leans back in, and attempts to toss Mizuki over his shoulder before following up with a burst of psionic power designed to send the girl flyng!
Now Katelynn is starting to get frustrated. Having had her favorite counter-attack backfiring on her, she's really starting to feel a bit of annoyance towards Zach. Not so much that he's her rival, but rather because he's always getting the better of her it seems. So Katelynn decides to return the favor. She jumps onto a nearby railing, and then flies at Zach with her foot outstretches in an insanely fast flying kick!

Mizuki cannot buy a defense, apparently; she tries to get out of Zach's way but the toss and Psycho Power hit clean, sending her sprawling again. She frowns... because she second guessed herself, and that moment's hesitation cost her. Hnn. Once again, she rises to her feet; once again, her power flares around her. She'll be damned if she's going down soft like that. In the past, she was almost ashamed to use her power like this... no longer. She'll fight with everything she has, until the end!
This time, the buildup is even greater, power literally pouring down over her in a waterfall of glowing blue-green energy, obscuring her form, flowing like a great river.

Zach looks grimly at Mizuki as she does what appears to be an even larger version of that regeneration trick. The concern takes his attention away from Katelynn, which costs him dearly. He takes the Missile kick in the chest, and roars with pain as Katelynn's foot comes away wet with Zach's blood. He staggers, looking at the Shotokahner for a moment.
"One second," Zach says as he =LEAPS= towards the Shrine Maiden. Psychic fire armors his left hand as he cruises towards Mizuki.
"Man, I hope Alma don't fire me for this..."
Having successfully vented her frustrations on Zach, Katelynn decides to turn her attention to Mizuki. Not as much of a rival to her as Zach is, Katelynn nonetheless decides to test the other girl's skills, to see if she's just as good as Zach is. She brings one fist back and focuses her inner energy into it, causing a bluish glow to form around it.
With a yell of 'KIAI!' the glow turns into a sphere that flies directly at Mizuki, aimed right at her stomach.

Well, seems like the miko's finally gotten serious. The power flows, its energies true and healing; immediately Mizuki just looks better. Her stance is stronger, her movements more confident, with no tremble to indicate pain. Truly, her power can be a sight to behold... but she doesn't have the time to do more than appreciate the way she feels better...
Because she's got TWO people attacking her now. The avoidance of both is pretty much performed through an almost frantic scramble--digging her feet into the marble floor, she begins a quick sidestepping motion that takes her past the Energy Fist and Zach at the same time. That was pretty scary, she has to admit; turning towards Zach, she decides to strike at him once more, darting forward for his form, and snapping out rigid, flat hands in a cross-strike chop aimed at his torso.

Zach takes the torso shot even as the psycho-pike lances out from the ground, knocking Mizuki away from him, and towards Katelynn.
Once that is accomplished, Zach slumps to the ground, gasping. The red spot on his chest is getting wider. Mizuki can likely feel the blood on her palms...
Right now, Katelynn is impressed that Mizuki is handling herself better than Zach is. Looks like Zach may not be a worthy rival any more. But that can change at any time during this match. For now, though, Katelynn is really starting to feel the effects of the fight bearing down on her. She steps back a little and takes a moment to catch her breath.

Someday, she'll learn to choose her attacks more carefully; what with Zach blasting her so hard, though, Mizuki still feels, somehow, that she's got the upper hand despite that painful blast. In midair, Mizuki flips out--literally--landing on her feet, almost lightly. Make no mistake, though, that really hurt. Then again... she can't let Katelynn get too far, now, can she?
Zach will have to just sit and wait for a moment--Mizuki lunges forward, feinting a low kick attack at the karateka, but instead coming high with a sweeping ridgehand blow, a traditional karate strike.
Zach will keep, apparently.
The bloodied man pulls himself up again, gasping for air. He shakes his head to get things resituated up there, and then proceeds to call forth more energy. It may be a race to the finish here; wouldn't do to run out of gas...

When feeling the effects of a fight coming at you, it's better to play it safe than sorry. After messing up once already, Katelynn's not about to take chances with attempting another counter attack. Instead, she blocks the incoming punch from Mizuki, and then swiftly brings her right leg up, aiming her foot at Mizuki's stomach in returning the favor type of style.

Perhaps it is; Mizuki, however, constantly feels as though she has to--should--push the limits in order to succeed. That means taking a lot of risks--something she does yet again, even with that quick kick coming at her. Mizuki twists her torso to her right, that thrusting kick just sliding past her stomach. From the twisted position she leans to her right and then leaps, gaining some distance from the sturdy karateka.
She's not feeling so confident as to taunt--rather, she gathers her energy, blue-white chi flaring up around her feet in a writhing, undulating circle, up to her knees.

That's the cue, Zach thinks. He takes off at a run up the staircase, climbing higher and higher before taking a sharp ninety-degree turn towards the center of the staircases and leaps over the side rails.
Collecting power in his palms, Zach flings his open hands forward. A wave of psychic energy lashes forth from his hands, raging on a collision course for Katelynn!

As Katelynn sees the incoming attack, she braces herself to take the impact, in hopes that she'll be able to get into a better position. Unfortunately, the projectile hits her and sends her way off balance. She's sent to the ground and tumbles a few feet down the stairs, before managing to stop herself. Unfortunately, picking herself up is easier said than done. She looks a bit dazed and confused, which is why she closes her eyes and takes the time to focus on her breathing once again.

Hmm. That looked painful--Mizuki's had a taste of that Psycho Power before, she can well imagine how a full-on strike of that caliber must feel. Seems as though the end-game is coming up... the young miko looks between her two opponents, then lunges...
... for Zach, closing to within five yards and then sweeping her hands upward. Chi power builds in that moment and movement, flaring out as a waist-high wave of icy chi that hisses out for Zach's position...

Zach considers for a moment as the chi blast comes in. He could try that move... no. He'll take some damage. He could... no. That'd result in pain, and wouldn't really work anyway.
Zach choses, instead, to jump the wave of energy, landing firmly on both feet. He needs more energy, but does not have time to power up again; not with Mizuki in that close. Zach whips his fist for Mizuki's face, more of that psychic flame wrapping around the fist as it comes in!
While Zach is going after Mizuki, Katelynn's inner energy has filled up completely. She opens her eyes and focuses intently on her rival. After a moment of letting her strength build, she charges at Zach, intending to strike him with a series of punches and kicks that have been carefully choreographed into her, aptly named, Ultimate Kata!

Well, ow. Mizuki tries to back off, but Zach's fist proves to be faster; it impacts solidly, sending her reeling once again... that sure happens a lot to her in her fights. But... well, she'd intend to strike back at Zach, but with Katelynn coming in and looking like she means -business-...
Mizuki falls back, further, extending her stumble until she's a good ten yards away--upon which she rights herself and just... waits a moment. Not that she's hesitating... but she has a feeling that Katelynn has a lot of pain in mind for Zach and she'd rather not get involved in that... plus, she needs a moment to get her thoughts organized.

He weaves through the punches and kicks as if he has seen this series of attacks about a million times. He frowns a bit, and calls up still more power.

Well, the move may have failed, but at least Katelynn's will to fight is back. She's not going down that easily it seems, as she proves that mind over matter can be the answer sometimes. Not content with letting Zach avoid her that easily, Katelynn drops down and attempts to deliver an angular sweep kick, only to pause and then pivot around with the real kick at the last second. Let's see if he recognizes her signature move?
Zach just made an impressive display of dodging, right there; Mizuki is suitably impressed. That doesn't, however, mean she's all that happy about it. It would be much easier, she realizes, if Katelynn had managed to take Zach down. However... perhaps she can attempt something similar--or--wait. Katelynn seems entirely intent on Zach right now... that can only be good for Mizuki, can't it?
The miko moves up, waiting until Katelynn is just finished with her sweeping manuever to fire up her own attack, thrusting a hard double palm strike at the karate girl's side, unleashing her own loud kiai.

He does, actually. However, he is tired of seeing the same things from Katelynn, Zach does not wait to jump the second leg.
He spins up his own signature move: The Impulse Flare.
However, the fatigue from the fight has finally taken its toll on him, and he does not bring the globe of glowy spinny death to bear quick enough. The second sweep clips his ankles out from under him, sending Zach into an awkward tumble and a worse (that is to say, head-first) landing on the marble.

"Happy landing-- OOF!" Katelynn's taunt is cut off by the punch that strikes her hard. The Kiai didn't even do any good to her, as she was too late in trying to respond with a defensive stance. She staggers around, nearly falling over the railing, but fortunately she manages to avoid it. Nonetheless, she starts to tumble down the stairs, but not before aiming one last punch at Mizuki.

Oof! Mizuki gets gobsmacked, even with Katelynn falling away. However, she manages to retain her footing, after a stumble--thank god for modernized zori! Coming to a halt in a crouch, breathing heavily, Mizuki rises from her crouch tenatively.
Over the loudspeakers, the announcer's voice booms: "AND TONIGHT'S WINNER: MIZUKI KAMIGAWA!!!" Can't hear the cheering of the crowd, though, until the doors burst open and the medics come onto the scene to help the injured. Mizuki, as she usually does, waves them off; she can heal herself and she prefers it that way. Instead...
She starts climbing the staircase. She wants to see what's at the top.
