SNF 2007.12 - Style! Drake vs Hakuya

Description: Hakuya and Drake both haven't had a fight in a long while, and their first match back at the SNF pits them together in a grappler match up! The fight is long, with Drake being too quick on his feet for the Suigetsu heir, but Hakuya keeps changing his strategy to try and find the right combination. In the end, Drake wins, but not without a few strong hits from Hakuya. (Winner: Drake)

It was a fairly rare thing for Hakuya to enter into the SNFs these days. It wasn't that he didn't like it, it's just he wasn't really up to facing 'certain people' that commonly appeared in them. But the combination of his team mates ragging on him to get out more, and his own 'sister' telling him to go out and get them more money, made the Suigetsu heir finally get off his duff and sign up. And his fight...? Well, it had seemed like an interesting match up. He'd seen 'Domino' on the TV on other occassions, and the setup was exactly what he'd expect of such a meeting - the guys incharge of the Saturday Night Fight wanted two younger grapplers to fight. Seems good to him!

So, in usual characteristic style, he'd shown up on the flight and then immediately gotten lost. He'd never been to Cambodia before, so this was probably to be expected. Like when he'd fought in Tokyo, he moves about in a daze, experiencing the culture of the war-ravaged country first hand. Unlike Tokyo, however, there was a shocking lack of people who knew Japanese, which made things a lot more difficult. But eventually, two hours after he had been scheduled to arrive, he does show. With several sacks of fruit, many pamphlets of tourist sights, and oddly enough, the phone number of a girl who promised him 'love long time' for her 'strong Japanese boyfriend'. Or something? Her Japanese had been terrible.
"Ah... sorry I'm late!" the be-hoodied grappler calls out as he approaches the marked off area in front of the ancient temple. The crew gives him a very much disapproving look, and the manager walks over to gently berate him - pay attention to instructions and wait for the car to pick you up from the airport! After awhile, Hakuya enters the marked-off ring, without his fruit, pamphlets or phone numbers, and looks around in wonder at everything - the temple, the masses of people gathering. He looks almost like a kid, gazing around in wonderment. "Wow, this place is pretty cool..."

Domino already made his appearance. -He- was on time. And to be on time while trying to fight crime all the way in America really says something! So what's this guy's excuse? Bah! Bah, Domino says! He'd already made his flambouyant entrance, involving dramatic discarding of his robe, preening and posing for the swooning fans.. all that jazz.

So what's he been up to for the past.. well.. God knows how long? Why, meeting with fans. Shaking hands, high-fiving, hugging the lady-types, friendly flirting... his typical goodguy shenanigans. The things that endear him to the audience. So when his opponent makes his arrival, Domino hops into the ring area, and he sets his hands to his hips. The look he gives the other youth is one of bemusement, feigning agitation in a mirthful, joking way. Seems Hakuya's opponent is the lighthearted sort.

He really did get lost, though! It wasn't his fault! ...Even if it totally was. But he's done this twice now, maybe it's more that he just wants to see a little bit more of Asia in each of these trips out of country. In any case, at least he returns Drake's feigned agitation with a look of sheepish apology, ducking his head down in a kind of bow as he smiles apologetically. For Hakuya, there is no showboating - he doesn't shake hands with everyone or sign any autographs, and it's likely no one asks for either. Though he'd been in a few SNFs, his popularity wasn't anywhere near Drake's. Right now, he just does some light stretching quickly, while the announcer for the match begins to stoke the crowd up. "Ladies AND Gentlemen! Welcome to lovely Cambodia, here in front of the Angkor Wat temple! Today, we provide you with two young and up-coming fighters, both top competitors and able fighters in their own right! In this corner!" Lights suddenly go on, and turn to face Drake. "You know him, you love him, the pro-wrestling champ, Drake "Domino" Vyril!" The crowd goes wild, cheering and clapping for a time. The spot lights begin to dance around the arena. "And in the opposite corner, the esoteric self-described 'spiritual bodyguard' of the Suigetsu clan, Hakuya!" Lights focus on the grappler, and he rubs the back of his head a little nervously as attention focuses on him. Cheers, clapping, all that good stuff. "Now, with the introductions made... let's get it oooooonnnn!"
With that, the fight starts. There's no bell, but it's the more or less unofficial cue to start throwing hands. Hakuya, however, makes no first move, he simply slides into his fighting stance. Feet apart, hands held up, but unclenched, palms facing towards Drake. "Um... I suppose since I was late..." he starts, but doesn't finish, trailing off to indicate maybe he should make it up to Drake by letting him have the first action?

Domino cringes a little when his actual name is used. That cheapens the whole point of a gimmick! Bah. Oh well. He lifts his arms to wave to the cheering crowds, beaming a bright, winning, and admittedly cocky smile. Though with the other announcement, he politely claps and grins a little.

Though finally, the match is set to begin. Domino matches his posture and inclines his head a little. He wants him to go first? Hrmkay. He begins to close in slowly, pacing around him... and he suddenly lunges in, attempting to lock up with Hakuya and sudenly whip him up and over in a snap suplex.

The offer seems to be taken as the other man begins to move, circling around to the side. Hakuya isn't really used to the this circling business, so he's not entirely sure of what to expect. He's more used to fighting people who just charge him straight on. So his head turns to follow Drake, but his body doesn't. Which is likely a bad idea, because when the man suddenly lunges, the Suigetsu heir isn't really ready to properly defend, and gets swept up into the suplex. Slammed down, he nevertheless recovers quickly, swinging his body up to a standing position, bounding once, then immediately moving forward to snap a kick to the side of Drake's head, a light kick meant to stumble rather than hurt, though he then follows through by spinning his body as he jumps up, and attempts to send Drake flying to the side with a double kick to the head once more.

Domino quickly recovers as well, kipping up to his feet and whirling to face his opponent. The softening-up blow seems to have done its job well enough, getting Hakuya into the fight. The first kick is evaded cleanly, Domino's head weaving beneath the strike. The follow-up is turned against Hakuya, as the professional wrestler martial artist model edges back just out of its reach and grabs ahold of the offending ankle to shove it askew. This he intends to use to bear Hakuya down against the stone floor, ideally stunned. For in that instant, Domino turns to rush away from Hakuya to leap up and perch atop a post cordoning the ring area, facing the audience.

Balanced keenly, Domino thrusts his right fist into the air. This elicits cheering from the audience in full anticipation for what must be coming next.. brought out much sooner in this match than usual. It's the telltale signs of Domino's high-flying finisher, the Darkside Slam.

The attack is put into motion, wrestler springing off the post in a double backflip. On the second rotation, his body unfurls, spreading his arms and legs to pull his chest and abdominal muscles taut and firm for splashing impact against Hakuya. Hard-hitting top-rope moonsault, by professional wrestling terms.

The attack is brushed aside, but he's not entirely caught off guard by this, and rather than having himself tossed to the ground, stunned, he simply rotates his body away from Drake - which still causes him to stumble, since his balance was messed with anyway by the other young man. Flailing his arms almost comically, Hakuya keeps his balance, but at the cost of time. By the time he turns around to see where his opponent went, Drake is already flying into the air with the intent to smash on down at him. Blinking a bit, the style of the attack causing just a moment's indecision, the Suigetsu heir is just left with one option to him: blocking. Or rather in this case, catching. As Drake descends, Hakuya thrusts his hands up and 'catches' the other man, which, still, with weight and gravity being used against him, still hurts some and he's unable to entirely stop the momentum, causing less damage, but also causing him to become unbalanced again! Still, as he starts to stagger backwards, he attempts to grab and pull Drake with him, then finally turn and toss him in a quick hip-toss style attack to the floor.

Domino expected smushiness. Flattening of a person under him. But.. no. What he gets? Hands. Bad touch! Bad to-okay, so that's retarded. Wrestlers aren't allowed to use that. Anyway, the impact is lessened, and he doesn't even land the way he intended. But he finds himself being slung over... which he rolls into. On his way to the ground, he simply curls into a ball and lands harmlessly, tumbling right back up to his feet.

And Domino turns to face him, once again in wrestling stance. He suddenly closes in, attempting to lock up with Hakuya again.. only after just a second, he makes a grab for Hakuya's wrists to twist his arms around behind his back. And as such, his arms cinch around Hakuya to suddenly yank him in in a crushing bearhug.

Well, at least the motion cancelled his backwards momentum! Hakuya doesn't make a successful attack, but he doesn't fall over, either, and manages to keep his feet again, if only by pure luck. It's probably only this that lets him see the attack that comes, Drake rushing in to follow up the failed hip-toss with his own manner of attack. The Suigetsu's wrists are taken, and with a twist, his arms are forced - almost - to his back, but at the last moment, Hakuya suddenly drops his weight, spinning around on his feet and ducking under his own arm to face Domino once more. A reversal, it seems! Rushing forward, he shoves his hands into his opponent's chest and begins to move him backwards, eventually just lifting him up off the ground and rushing towards the edge of the marked off ring, and slamming him down into the ground after building up a large amount of kinetic momentum, so the spike into the ground hurts all the more.

Domino wasn't honestly expecting that. When the reversal occurs, amethyst eyes widen in surprise, and he's fairly helpless against the onslaught. When his back smashes against the ground, he lets out a yelp and sprawls for a second... but he's then back in the game. A bit deceptively perhaps, though. His legs suddenly scissor out, attempting to catch Hakuya's legs and drop him down hard onto his front. But along with that, he rolls over towards Hakuya's head to force in a leg-locked version of a boston crab submission hold.

Dancing backwards a short distance, Hakuya gets out of the way from any immediate prone reprisals, adopting his fighting stance against while Domino gets back up from the slam. The follow-up comes then, and Hakuya tenses, but as he was expecting some kind of throw, he instead gets set up for a hold. Realizing his mistake, he's a little too late to avoid getting sent to the ground this time, and thuds heavily. But he's already moving to slip away from the rest of the submission hold, his hands planting on the ground and with a strong push, twists himself out of the grip, legs slipping away. Rolling a bit, he begins to get up, but rather than waiting for that, he aims a mule kick straight for Drake's ribs, intending on knocking the wind out of him to give the Suigetsu heir a moment to recover.

Domino's submission hold gets broken, but the wrestler is quick to kip up to his feet again and stand at the ready.. when a foot immediately thrusts back at him. Domino catches the foot as it lunges for him, and he hooks it under an arm. His other arm hooks around the guy's shoulder.. and he hops into the air backwards, pulling into a flip to land Hakuya down hard on his front while Domino's full weight lands overtop his back.

Immediately after impact, however, Domino pulls forward to somersault to his feet. He stands at the ready, eyeing the younger wrestler intently.

Okay, that he wasn't expecting. Powering through his attacks, maybe, in order to reach him and do damage back, but he's not once so far been shown a fighter that could effectively cancel his attack while dealing damage back. So, he ends up getting his ass kicked! Or, well, thrown, with Domino's weight being crashed down onto him in addition to it. With a loud grunting noise from the impact, Hakuya is left without any air, and a touch dazed. He gets back to his feet a little slower than before, shaking his head and panting, but soon enough he's back into a fight mode. Sliding into his fighting stance finally, he turns to face his opponent fully, and then moves up in order to start things off again, with a quick and simple attack: a open-handed palm strike to the other man's jaw.

Domino quirks an obsidian eyebrow at Hakuya, observing him as he raises to his full height and prepares. The palm thrust is reacted to instantly, body twisting aside to let the hand whiz right past him. The moment Hakuya's hand is extended with Domino twisted aside, his hand thrusts out for Hakuya's chin in an uppercut. Nothing special, and no frill about it - just a firm, swift uppercut to the chin.

The punch that comes is dealt with in a similar manner as with his own punch. But rather than dodging out of the way, Hakuya just takes it on the chin, quite literally in this case. The punch comes, but it doesn't seem to faze him. Hurt him, sure, for a bit of blood appears on his lip, but rather than being staggered, he just turns and grabs at the arm that strikes him. If successful, he'll yank the pro-wrestler forward by his arm, then pull the arm down roughly in order to flip the man. But it doesn't stop there. Aiming to bring his knee up into Drake's back, if he's successful with this as well, his hands will then grab him, and bring him up, over, and down again in a strong, stiff suplex to the floor.

Domino's extended wrist is caught, and those amethysts widen again in surprise. Huh. Tricksy. He didn't expect that. But he's then feeling yanked, and he hops into the air along with it - except he twists around and works himself free whilest in the air, landing neatly on his feet again afterwards. Instead of allowing things to continue with Hakuya on the offensive, he attempts to grab the younger male by the shoulders to then ram his knee into his midsection twice. This will hopefully be sufficient enough to double Hakuya over, which would permit Domino to then lock his neck between his legs. His arms go to hook around his midsection, hoisting him into piledrive position.

And once there? Well, then Domino just drops down to smash Hakuya's head against the stone.

This time it's Hakuya turn to dodge, it seems! The Suigetsu's own attack was dodged, and rather than wait around again this time for another attack, the grappler moves forward, out of the grasping hands' reach and most certainly out of the knee, as well. Turning as he steps, he faces Drake once more, and aims to bring his leg up in a stiff bar to the other man's stomach, before quickly spinning in place and bringing the leg back around again in order to attempt to drive him into the stones of the ground, by kicking Drake in the back of the head, a sharp cry of 'Haah!' emitted as he does the latter portion of the attack. He then once again shuffle backwards away, hopefully, from any immediate reprisals.

Domino didn't quite expect his strikes to be evaded. He, after all, is rather close to the target. But nevertheless, this opens him up for the strike incoming. He's kicked squarely, getting an 'unf'.. then he smashes against the stone firmly. He doesn't stay down for long, though. He pushes himself to hands and knees and gives his head a shake. He then suddenly makes a lunge for Hakuya's legs, attempting to bring him down to the stone as well. If successful, he crawls atop Hakuya's lower back and locks his hands beneath the youth's jaw, suddenly yanking upwards in an excruciating camel clutch submission hold.

The strike... hits!? That's a surprise. Sending his opponent to the floor, Hakuya has to pause just a moment to blink, as he didn't really expect such a thing to work, but maybe the shock of dodging such a close-in move was enough to unbalance his opponent? Maybe, but there's no time to reflect on it, as Domino once again moves to set up another of his holds. Hakuya's ready for it this time, and he's knocked to the floor, he's already moving, surging upwards and making it difficult to properly get the leverage needed for such a hold, even if the clutching and yanking hands hurt a bit. Rather than being sit on, Hakuya attempts a somewhat unorthodox attack, seeking to raise up fast and hard enough on his hands that he headbutts the wrestler under the chin, hopefully driving the man off his back.

Hakuya's caught, and despite the struggling, he can't manage to free himself of this one. Even though he attempts to reverse it, his feet shifting under him, the attack is a little too fast, and he's off his feet before he can manage to lift Domino, falling forward onto his face with a loud 'oof!'. Rolling away from the other man, he slowly gets back up to his feet, a touch unsteady, and wipes at his face, drawing a bit of blood out of his eyes. He'll need just a minute to not have stuff in his eye - gravel and dirt like to get into places when your face is smashed into stone.

Domino has no intention to delay, however. The wrestler pushes himself up to his feet again, and takes Hakuya's condition into account. He rushes in towards him once, though this time not for a grapple. No, Hakuya's going to see a different side of Domino-style wrestling.

His hands chamber at his sides as he closes in on Hakuya, gathering white wisps of visible energy. The moment he's in range, Domino drops into a low forward stance on his right leg, hands thrusting out at Hakuya's torso in a double palmheel strike. The pent-up energy discharges in a dazzling, brilliant white flash of concussive energy as soon as his arms are fully extended.

He can just barely see what the other man is doing. Racing for him, crouching, and... there's chi? Yeah, he can feel it. He doesn't really need to see it now. Guessing, purely from Drake's position, on what's going to happen with that chi build up, Hakuya simply moves forward and reaches towards the pro-wrestler, the impact hitting him hard but not seeming to do much at all, because he's simply moving through the pain, through the attack, to grab at the other man's shoulders. If successful, he'll hoist Drake up, and then quite simply, back down again into the ground, slamming him with a weaker kind of powerbomb throw, if only because he can't really see, and his stomach is kind of in pain from the chi-splosion.

And with Hakuya hoisted up, Domino's arms suddenly CRANK on the pressure along his midsection in an inverted bearhug. This grinding punishment continues for several seconds before Domino takes to the air with a high leap. In the process, he pulls forward with Hakuya into a series of forward flips, steadily gaining momentum. By the time they're on the descent, the two have blurred together into an opaque swirl of motion, right up until they meet with the ground again, ideally smashing the full momentum and their combined bodyweights against Hakuya's skull.

He's still blinded, of course, so he can't really dodge any incoming attacks. However, he can certainly feel it when his opponent catches him and begins a punishing series of attacks, first with the bear hugging and second with the flips in order to build up momentum, all in order to crush him into the ground once more. It's the little things that Hakuya -can- do to defend himself, such as tensing up a lot when the arms start to crush around him, and to shift, just slightly, when he's spiked into the ground, landing more on his shoulders so he can roll a bit, displacing the momentum some rather than having it all ended up on his head. It still hurts, though. That much is for certain. With a rough growl of 'Haaah!' his arms seek to pull free of Drake's grasp, grabbing onto his wrists. From there, if successful, he'll begin to roll sideways rapidly, and then peforms an extremely unorthodox, and probably awkward move of throwing Drake off him with a sideways Tomoe Nage, sans the usual foot to the stomach, likely making it not as painful as it could be.

It wasn't a grappler's match for nothing. There were no fists or anything to worry about, just getting slammed repeatedly into various objects, particularly the stone floor. You got very well acquainted with the floor when facing a grappler. So, just as Hakuya introduces his opponent to the floor again, so too does Domino introduce Hakuya to it. Again. Flipping, rather ungracefully, to the floor, he pushes himself up after only a moment, but is forced to stay there for a moment, panting heavily. Sliding his feet up, he slowly gets to his feet and looks to Drake. Another moment taken, focusing... and then Hakuya's suddenly charging forward. His intention is simple: first, he'll catch Drake around the stomach, spin in place in a full 180, then deposit the man on the floor in a rough kinetic swing throw. Then he'll race forward again, scooping Drake up along the way, lifting him up, then jumping and performing a kind of running piledriver, slamming him headfirst into the stones. The last throw, if all manages to be successful, is simpler, as it just consists of picking Drake up by the ankles, then like a ragdoll picking him up over the Suigetsu heir's own head, then finally slamming him to the floor. He'll stop after that, panting heavily, clearly near his limit.

At least long enough to make the people wonder if the professional wrestler is out or not.

But then he's pushing himself back up to his full height. He then turns around to face Hakuya once more... and he tries to grapple with him. His right arm attempts to hook Hakuya's left leg, and his left arm goes to hook around his right shoulder. And if captured, he hoists the youth off his feet and twists over, driving him against the stone floor on his back.. with Domino's weight adding more force behind it.

Indeed he should be down! But clearly he's just got incredible reserves, or something. Slamming Drake around like that had its ill effects on Hakuya as well. It was tiring to throw people around, even with the adaptation of kinetic force into most of his throws. Still, he must fight on! Or, would like to, but Drake's moving a little too fast for what Hakuya had in mind, and rather than being able to kick the other man, he ends up getting helluva thrown. This time, rather than getting back up again, he just collapses against the stone, quite worn out, panting, and bloody. But at least he wasn't the only one in bad shape?! Regardless, the crowd goes wild at the fight, cheering louder than they did when the fighters were first introduced. The announcer begins his ending speeches, with lots of 'wows' and 'caaan you believe it!?'s. But, that doesn't concern Hakuya. He's gon' take a little nap.

The final powerslam lands Domino in perfect pinning position, which he capitalizes on, settling across Hakuya's chest and abdomen crossways. He remains there long enough to permit the crowd to give a full three-count. Two people who use wrestling in their fighting styles? One has to expect the match to end in a pin or submission. But once the three-count has been made, Domino shoots up to his feet with renewed vigor, fists thrust into the air victoriously. That's not to say he isn't hurting. He's hurting -badly-, primarily after that last combination of slams. And after several seconds of holding his fists aloft, his left hand sets behind his head to rub it over. Mmph.

But this was his first fight in Saturday Night Fight in a while. So when he spots a camera, he gives it his trademarked, saucy look. His left hand sets to his hip, right hand whisking through his sweat-slickened bangs while he flashes a roguish smile to the camera.
