Jinchuu - [R4.5] [Mish] Maid Brigade

Description: What happens when the Chief of Security catches you 'doing laundry' with a bunch of bazookas? Why, you wind up being put to work as the Suiryuu's maid service. Charged with the task of getting the EMP netting off the ship, Arika and Eva round up a bit of help in the form of Zach. Things start off well, until the second wave of invasion begins led by none other than the scion of Rugal Bernstein. The noisy fight that ensues draws Marisol from her room and with her help they manage to provide adequate distraction while still working on the netting. But someone manages to get away... will he bring reinforcements?

It's been a hellishly long night, and an even longer day. The battle between the invaders and those aboard the Suiryuu has been going on since the helicopters appeared the night previous. Cannon explosions and chaos have been reigning supreme, and under the executive orders of the director of operations, most 'agents of Jinchuu' should have by now completed their own matches in spite of what's going on around them.

Night falls once more, and the Suiryuu itself is still running on old-style systems, and with the majority of the invader contingent defeated, chased off or captured, getting the ship fully functional becomes the most important task.

So why, then, is it being left up to the punk rock princess and her crew?

Arika is of the belief that it's a punishment of sorts for 'doing laundry' on the night of the attack. On the other hand, it could just be a challenge and since everyone else seems to be busy one she doesn't really mind helping out with - with her trusty teammate at her side and whomever else they've managed to round up while rushing around to find a healer. Once the wounds that Rugal left her with were taken care of, she's begun to make her way up to the main deck.

"Alright, Eva. Remember 'ow I was tellin' you and Naerose that the issue with communications and everythin' 'ad to do with these bloody metal nets? Guess wot? I wasn't the only one thinkin' we needed to get rid'a them. Ran into someone in the 'all back there and we've been told to clean this mess up. So let's get to it then. We still need to find a way to find out where Hime's gotten to and..."

Yeesh. She's babbling. Just listen to her. They need to get this done already.

"I got some cutters in the bag with the you know wot, but I dunno if they're gonna be any 'elp at all..."

"Sounds like a plan," one of Arika's motley crew says before yawning, "Only question is how? Thing's friggin' /hyuge/." Zach tugs on his hat as he looks around with bleary eyes. This day has taxed his resources more than, well... ever. Even the day he blew up his house doesn't quite measure up to the exhaustion he's feeling right now. Most fighters can drawn on the chi around them, in theory to power themselves a bit more.

Zach? Well, he has to recharge every now and again, and he has yet to figure out how to do that. He glances at the boxes labelled POLEARMS and walks over to one to check to see if it does, in fact, have polearms in it. They might serve better than whatever cutters Arika is talking about.

Again, they have to help out the ship. Eva isn't completely jiving with how she seems to always be in the predictament, but, sometimes, one has to choose between the two evils. Suiryuu is less likely to kill her off than R, since Suiryuu seems to want her energy. R could care less about a teenage girl from Chicago.

Eva can always get back at Suiryuu later, anyways. "Maybe if we can get the communications back up, we can have a better chance of locating Himeko," Eva comforts. While she's at it, she glances at Zach, giving a worrying sound. "... Are you doing alright?" While this has been the first time she's met the young man, Zach seems to be a good friend of Arika's. If Arika at least trusts him to tag along, Eva will too.

It's then that she notices the polearms. ".... Those would be perfect, actually..." What would be even better where those bolt-cutters on sticks that they use for cutting down trees, but, alas, conventional weaponry will have to do. "Let's try to do this before anyone comes to stop us."

Haunted crazy ship of the damned (ninja) full of, well, amateurs - at least in Rugal's estimation. This was supposed to be your standard op, nothing special, nothing hard for the little cadre called 'R'. But see, dad, there's this problem that some just call... complications. Not to mention, the people Rugal looks down on have a little something called numbers on their side. It's enough to force back the brunt of the attack force, perhaps largely because of the demoralizing defeat of Bernstein senior and junior at the very cusp of triumph. At least some of the blame fell squarely on the Bernstein heir, and well... Rugal doesn't tolerate failure very well.
The solution is obvious. Back to the boat! This isn't the first hit and run planned or executed by the platinum blonde, and the complete lack of hesitation or sound is evidence of that. It's almost too quiet. The thrum of the engine, the subtle sway of the surf. Did the gunfire dull out, just for an instant? It's as if the universe took a breath, or perhaps it's just the way this ship makes every eddy and tide of chi feel like the wake of a disorienting acid trip gone horribly wrong. A flash of black shoots skyward, a muscle-propelled missile of anti-proletarian force and will. As if in a nod to his hosts, Adelheid's fair features are completely obscured, the slender youth in a jet black bodysuit and mask, from head to toe. Outfitted for stealth, it's unlikely any of the group really got a good look at his previous position... BEHIND the weapons they expect to be their salvation. Now, he's dropping back - quickly - towards the ground. The inventor of this clever plan to walk right into an 'R' trap?
Well, Adelheid has to land, and he's aiming to do so boot first. Almost literally on Zach's face with that singular, forward-flipping axe of a reinforced heel.

Numbers? Granted, so far the only people Arika has actually -seen- defending this ship are Sakura, Blanka and her own 'crew' as it were. The diva really can't comment on the staff that's been ensuring the safety of those aboard, but she knows she's spotted a few of them in the halls as they were wandering through earlier. That -could- account for the numbers, and the reason the invasion has subsided long enough for them to free the EMP netting from the ship.

Leaving the others to fuss with the box of polearms, she slips the bag she's been carrying from her shoulder and unzips it a little. Lo-and-behold there is a very large pair of cutters in there. Big enough to cut through steel netting and whatnot. Carefully zipping it back up, she turns to face Eva and Zach, only to notice someone landing aboard the ship and aiming a boot at Zach's face.

"Zach, watch out! Eva, I don't know who that blighter is, but looks like we're gonna need to take care'a 'im before we finish our task..."

Wire cutters in hand, she leaps up toward the net and starts to cut away at it. Several snips later and she's dropping the cutters and flipping herself toward the intruder. Landing atop the box and to the side of him, her fist shoots out toward the mask with a quick jab, trying to dislodge it. Whether she manages this or not, her left hand slams forward at nearly precisely the same moment, a bright flash of violet energy encompassing her had as she lashes out with a palmheel strike to the mans? torso.

Zach glances at Eva. He doesn't know this lady, but the concern is touching in a way. He goes back to the box, "'Mfine, th-" OHCRAPAXEKICK! Zach snaps a hand up, catching the kick in his palm. He winces from the force; kid hits =hard.= Glen shoves the foot away from him with more than a little force.

"Sonnova..." Zach curses as he winces again. He is digging pretty deep here as he spins a beach-ball sized sphere of pure sparkling purple Psycho Power into his palm. Zach then drives the mass of energy in Adelheid's back.

"... Oh." Eva frowns as her attention is directed towards the black-clothed assailant, worry creasing her face. She wanted to get this done and over with! "... Let's be careful; the men that airship have been sending have been all over the board in terms of ability." Looking at the weapon in her hand and, then, thinking better of it, Eva discards the long-range weapon to the back, allowing momentum to make it skid away. She's a fighter- a weapon will only cause her to be at a disadvantage due to lack of knowledge in how to use it.

Much like her other attacks, Eva attempts to time herself. Taking off the flannel shirt to reveal a tank top underneath, Eva attempts to syncongize her attack with her two allies'. Rushing in after Arika's and Zach's two chi attacks with a more physical one, she attempts to snag the strange man's head with the cast-off garment in her hands like a net.

Let's hear it for quick thinking. Adelheid's had a chance to sample the teamwork of Eva and Arika rather recently indeed, but his rather defiant, stubborn conclusion is that this time... it's going to be different. With or without Rugal! And Sakura and Blanka, but that's beside the point. All the good (or bad) intentions spurred from this rather fubar'ed invasion can't do anything against Zach's quick motions, however. Adelheid's spun around rather abruptly, but to the young prodigy's credit... he lands rather smoothly on his feet. A subtle twist, and he's suddenly facing Arika's charge. The black-clad stealth ops edition Adelheid snaps one gloved palm outward, seemingly at the same instant the violet erupts along Arika's striking hand. He takes one flourishing sidestep aside, as much like in their first bout... the diva's energy is turned abruptly aside. Rather than escaping unscathed, Zach's energy all but /pours/ into the Bernstein heir's back, searing him and nearly staggering his graceful sidestep into a faceplant. He moves with the momentum, however, and depending on the eye the pair of women have for fighting style, well. Maybe the mask doesn't need to come off to let them know who they're dealing with. The not-a-ninja swings right back around as he comes down in a crouch under the brunt of the psionic release, his right boot cleaving the path, and conjuring a waist-high lance of ragged windshear.... wind energy that all but cleaves right back through the cloud of psi shrapnel, and blasts Zach right back the way he came in an agonizing tumult of razor-edged power.

The force of the almost-Reppuken, his own twist on a famous form, gives Adelheid the momentum he needs to shove back... and to his feet. He remembers the dangers of Eva's... clothing... rather well. A sudden weaving lunge, and he ducks and shifts under the makeshift noose, a shoving forearm suddenly intervening as the Bernstein heir moves abruptly /out/ of the line of fire. That could have been much worse, considering his initial ambush went rather soundly against him... as it is he breathes a breath. It's the only pause the three are likely to get, judging from the lithe return to a ready stance, the youth shifting weight between booted feet.

There are tons of these guys running around on the Suiryuu, but there was one man in particular who was ready to go beyond the next level of Invaderdom.

Meet Brick Russel, a man who has a habit of being at the right place at the right time. The place being here, and the time being now.

There isn't anything really special about the man decked in all black, with trusty night vision goggles and dressed down as heavily as he's armed. No, if there had to be something special, it'd be his timing. And he arrives, storming up from below deck in time to witness (With white exclamation point) Adelheid perform yet another amazing feat. Yeah, he knows it's Adelheid.. He.. Thinks.

But no matter how one slices it, three people against one calls for back-up, and that's exactly what he's going to provide. "!" He yells, voice deep and hollow as if yelling through a tin can. And that's all he says for the moment as he stomps forward, toward Zach. But then he decides he looks kind of tough. He'll go pick on a woman instead, like say.. The woman who stripped off her flannel. If she didn't hear his exclamation, she may very well be caught off guard when the heavy-dressed man come diving at her from the side to tackle her to the ground, "STAY DOWN! NOW!" and then flip right off of her after the double-impact two sleek, black, sexy firearms held in his hand, trained on the girl.

Just when Marisol was about to catch a full night's rest...

Hell started breaking loose.

Below deck, the half-Spaniard was merrily dozing away with her iPod stuffed in her ears, classic rock to soothe the irritable redheaded beast. A magazine to keep her company, she began to slip away into quiet slumber--

--until yelling from above snapped her out of it.

Like an angry bull, the redhead was quick to rip the iPod from her ears and hurl the magazine across her cabin, features contorted in an expression of obvious irritation. How DARE people make so much noise! How DARE people keep Marisol awake far longer than she need be! This is an atrocity! An outrage! And someone's going to get their ass handed to them, if Marisol has anything to say about it!

With a sudden and particularly dramatic clang of the cabin's metal door slamming against the adjacent wall it is connected to, Marisol appears, standing with a sour expression in the threshold. Smoky gray eyes scan the deck, surveying the goings-on around and before her. She recognizes a few faces - the others, not so much. And those people seem to be the source of all this yelling and hollering and general annoyance plaguing the half-Spaniard. So what does Marisol do?

Why, she attacks the scion of Rugal Bernstein without prejudice, a fist aimed right for the center of his face.

"What the hell is going ON up here anyway!?"

Marisol just wanted a good night's sleep.

"..."

Astounded by the way Adelheid actually moves to avoid the attack, the diva realizes who it is. Deep blue eyes widen in surprise, not having been expecting -him- to return less than twenty-four hours after the initial attack. She's been healed, sure, but she didn't figure the Noah would have healers and such. After all, they're the badguys!(tm).

"Eva... be careful. This is that bloody wanker from last time. Ain't got the papa bear to back 'im up but..."

But he can still issue a great deal of pain if they're not careful.

"Zach, you alright?"

Showing concern isn't something the punk princess bothers with, and so it's almost with relief that she can spin her attention to Marisol's dramatic clanging entrance. "Wot the 'ell is goin' on 'ere? Well, mate... looks like we're 'bout to be invaded again... we need to deal with 'im..." And she notices the -other- invader and frowns. "And 'im as well, then get this bloody nettin' off so we can get everyone else to safety."

Without further explanation, the diva just glowers at Adelheid and frowns. Spinning around as quickly as she can manage she sends the heel of her boot into the vicinity of his chest, hoping to crash him back against the side of the ship.

Zach yells out as the... air?!? slams into his gut, throwing him across the deck and skidding to a halt with his back to a railing. He gasps for air for a moment before dragging himself to his feet. He looks about ready to re-engage Adelheid when the Invader shows up out of nowhere. Zach growls as the power surges to life around him. He is both amazed and worried at this; he does not know what this is going to cost him. The purple energy erupts out of his shoulders and flows down his arms in a manuever that Arika knows alll to well from that time at the pool.

"I'll live," Zach gasps out. Unlike that time at the pool, however, Zach cups both hands back by his left hips. He focuses for the briefest of moments before thrusting both hands out in front of him. A five-foot wide column of pure pain lances out from the open hands right at the new interloper!

She'd be impressed if she wasn't fully aware of the fact that this man is purely her enemy, rather an an opponent. And Arika's statement seems to be proven in the way he attacks Zach, causing a gasp of concern to escape the girl's lips.

And then he attacks back. That energy.... It looks similar to the sort she saw in Thailand! .... Just exactly who is this person? ..... It could be, however, just a similarity of color, as there seems to be a strange sparkle to it. And then.... Marisol?? "Be careful, it's-"

Oof. She spots the man out of the corner of her eye, but, instead of dodging it, Eva uses her body as a block, trying to keep the invader from going after the other two. "That..." she begins, keeping low as she gets up into a kneel, "... hurts!" Out flies a foot, laced with blue chi, aimed towards the man's ankles in a clean sweep.

It's all fun and games until someone throws a Brick. Adelheid hadn't asked for, or particularly wanted help on this little vigilante operation, but hey... when he spots another of the makeshift allies rushing across the deck... well. Let's just say this REALLY is the wrong place to argue with the sudden help. Expressionless midnight cloth snaps towards the new interloper as the Invader trades blows with two of his other opponents. His arms come up, one snapping around to deflect the diva's snapping strike sharply, shoving off slightly, clearly intending to....
WHAM. Marisol's fist comes in sooner than anticipated, and it snaps the bodysuit-clad Adelheid's skull back rather painfully. He takes the rather abrupt pain with little hesitation... indeed, the sheer detached resiliency might be intimidating, coming from a featureless not-ninja. There's no evidence of the wince, or the gritting of teeth, just a black-gloved hand thrusting forward for the attacking Irishwoman's face.
Should he find his grip? Fingers would tighten. Painfully, like a vice, a vice designed to loft Marisol up off the ground, before a powerful, thrusting flex of his arm would send a tumultuous column of silvery wind-chi point blank into her face, meant to explode her right back. Maybe all the way back to sleep, if he were exceedinly lucky! The Invader may not be told to get lost... but the soldier isn't getting any direct help right this minute, either. Man on a mission!

Hold on a minute, he said 'Stay Down' why is Eva getting back up?? One part of Brick tells him to just open fire, and go nuts on Eva, but another part of him tells him to bide his time.. Which is perhaps a good thing because suddenly the crafty Zach is about to attack. That's fine, he's trained to handle situations like this.

However he's not so well trained in dealing with energy attacks; his guns won't be his saving grace this time around, so he just hunkers down a bit. Luck isn't on his side, and when the column slams against him, he feels it but good, letting out a dramatic "AUUUURGH!" as he's blasted back- It seems the timing was just right for Eva's follow-up, both of his heels hitting her own so he tumbles along the flooring and slams back first against the railing after it all.

"... You think that hurts.. Augh, God help me.." He grumbles under his breath, unable for a moment to get to his feet. So he hooks one arm over the center rail to keep from falling to the side, while the other hand slips into the holster on his left leg. Now sporting a single-handed machine gun, Brick, with slightly blurry vision, holds down the trigger of the one handed weapon. He sends a hail of gunfire in Eva's direction, and he doesn't let go until that clip is empty!

Briefly, smoky gray eyes regard the familiar face of Arika, to whom she offers a stern expression. Invasion? Again? Marisol doesn't seem concerned with that - if anything, the whole invasion thing has about run its course and definitely overstayed its welcome on the Jinchuu.

"I see," comes the redhead's response to the blonde Briton. Then she's putting her fist in Adelheid's pretty face. Marisol isn't particular about peoples' looks - she just goes for what hurts the most. That's what counts in a fight, right? And it would seem the redhead's intuition pays off in some fashion, albeit with particularly creepy results. Though hit, Adelheid remains disturbingly quiet. Briefly, Marisol stares back at the platinum blonde with mild disbelief. Did he even FEEL that?

"H-hey!!" A black palm comes racing for Marisol's face, but just as her lanky arms are about to reach up and intercept those wrists when he pierces her defenses. Snared rather painfully by the face, she's introduced to a particularly nasty gout of wind chi, causing the half-Spaniard to sail back and go skidding across the deck on her backside.

Yes, for the record that hurt.

"O-ow," the redhead mutters, peeling her back off the deck as she slowly clambers back to her feet. Flexing her arms, the redhead shakes them out before she lifts her eyes, a broad smirk haunting her full lips as she peers across the way. "This will be lots of fun!" she murmurs to herself, clearly delighted at the prospect of fighting against challenging odds.

Pushing off her back foot, Marisol charges for the blonde once again, attempting to slam him in the stomach with a fierce punch. Should it land, she'll reach up and snag him by his pretty blonde hair and show his nose to her knee, before she shoves him back and swings a foot straight up, to slam her heel right into Adelheid's jaw with a brutal kick!

"Who are you weirdos, anyway?? R?"

Man on a mission? Meet diva on a mission.

Not one that she's particularly happy with, to say the least, but if getting this netting down will help them get to Hurricane Hime, then she's willing to play cleaning lady for the time being.

Arika actually twists away when deflected, dropping herself into a crouched roll. Staying low, she takes note of the situation as a whole. Looks like they're playing two-on-one, to two-on-one. Fair enough, in her books, considering that she figures the black clad vigilante has a similar quantity of 'OMGTRAIN' power as his father. A hand stretches forward and she grasps the cutters again, only to spring up and snap away at more of that horrible steel netting.

"C'mon... this is bloody well gonna take all night at this rate..."

Yanking the handles as wide as she can, the diva attempts to force the cutters to remain open. Tossing them like a boomerang toward the young Bernstein invader, it doesn't even look as though she cares if she hits him or not. Expression icy cool, her eyes are kept on the hook that's latched onto the ship behind him. Maybe, just maybe she can manage to knock it free if she can't manage to actually hit her mark.

"Looks like," she calls over her shoulder to Eva.

And to Marisol? "Looks like."

Wow, she's just a woman of many words this evening.

Zach grins slightly as the Burst Stream plows the Invader. He is not content to stop there, however. Zach charges in on the R trooper, skidding to a halt one he is in close.

His left fist is tucked in close to his side and coated with sparkling purple energy. Zach takes a half second to line up the shot before throwing a wrecking ball of a punch at Brick's midsection. Brace for impact!

Eva attempts to find some concievable way to avoid getting shot as Brick shoots, but, unfortunately, there's no cover close enough for her to duck behind. At least one of the bullets hits true, sending Eva spinning away and then falling down as the clip is emptied. Ow.... That *hurt*. Just the fact that she was *shot* seems more a frightening prospect than a chi blast, but, with so many people depending on her, Eva can't stand down for now. She's still got some life in her!

"Nnmph!" Hefting herself to her feet as soon as she's able, Eva winces. Owow again. However, with Zach attempting to attack the man, Eva herself cannot pass up on the opening this creates for her. So, pushing ahead, Eva charges in, arcing her foot around in an attempt to hit the man in the middle on the side.

Ah, back into the fray... even if this team of Suiryuu defenders was amply battle-ready, it's a sense of exhileration that tingles every nerve in the black-clad Bernstein's body as his crimson eyes dart about intently, trying to take a quick survey of the battlefield as Marisol is blasted backwards. Who are the weirdos? Well, it seems like the team of tea-partyers has more or less figured that out, at least some of them have. Adelheid remains silent, all business. Unhesitating. Marisol lunges forward, and the Bernstein heir all but glides back, a smooth, subtle leap that redirects his weight, and shifts his position rather alarmingly quickly.
But it sacrifices little in terms of proximity. No restraint. No mercy. No hesitation... the Black Noah is at stake, and with the events of the last day? Well, these fighters simply have to be bested. It's the stealthsuited Adelheid's turn to launch himself forward, finally breaking the silence with a focusing kiai best described as an abrupt roar, both hands shooting forward for a makeshift grapple. It's not your typical assault... one hand clasps for her neck, looking to literally crush off intake of air as the other clenching palm seeks to clamp down over Marisol's face. .... again.

It's the sheer focus that carries him out of Marisol's initial assault, and puts him in position to follow up... and in a way, perhaps it will even help the overall mission that it also puts him smack dab in the wide path of that whirling boomerang. Note: The things don't return so well when that whirl edge-on into someone's ribs. Teeth grit, eyes close, he continues to lunge forward.... and as the ironclad grip clenches down, both of Adelheid's booted feet all but erupt off the ground. In blatant defiance of gravity, the Bernstein heir literally blasts off into a breakneck flight, swinging the suspended Marisol before him. He rockets forward, forward, for only the span of a couple breakneck instants... long enough to build ample velocity...
Velocity for the impact with one of the Suiryuu's main masts. Crossing spans of open deck in an instant, Adelheid jacks the Irishwoman up against the rather solid post, and pours a literal hurricane of sheer power point-blank into her face, a whirling storm of pure, silvery white swirling about them and erupting in a brilliant all-encompassing sphere of pure chi. Only Adelheid, at the very center of the storm, remains unscathed.
... but also all too close to a likely perterbed opponent.

All right, Brick's got his hands full. He's got a guy coming at him from one side, and he's got a girl coming from the other. He was hoping the gun spray would keep her back a little longer, but he gets the time he needed to get to his feet and more or less pull himself togeather. This.

This was going to get ugly, fast.

He's alert enough to see the kick coming at him at least, and Zach seems to be using a similarly basic attack, heavy boots slide leftward as he reholsters his firearm, and then prepares for a tumble with the second attack. But he just ain't fast enough. A fat wad of spit comes flying out of him mouth, followed by a gurgling, the sparkling face imbedded deep into his gut, nightvision hidden eyes bugging out. G- Game over? Not quite, the pain is almost unbearable, and yet he manages to keep moving. This time Eva is ignored in favor of the male fighter, Zach now has to deal with an elbow jabbing toward the side of his head. It's followed quickly with a side-kick of his own, Brick unholstering a handgun from that leg, and aims at Zachs chest. Bang bang.

Apparently he doesn't expect that to blow Zach away because he twists to follow up with a reverse roundhouse kick to the gut while reaching behind his back- And as he falls onto the floor, aims his now unholstered, long, double-barreled firearm at Zach. With a somewhat bright blast, a single shot follows with twin slugs. 'R'epresent.

Oh, one of those sorts, the redhead wonders to herself, as long digits grope through empty air, rather than snare the young Bernstein by his pretty platinum blonde locks. Frowning ever so discreetly, the half-Spaniard reconsiders her tactics here. She figures everyone else present is doing their best to fight for a good cause, and though Marisol's may be selfish, she should at least help them out a little, right?

Another hand shoots forward for Marisol, but she makes no attempts to avoid the strike. No, that sure hand makes firm grasp of her throat, fingers securing around her supple neck and briefly cutting off her breath. The redhead only frowns a little in response, wincing in obvious discomfort as he thrusts the opposite hand forward at her face. In that fateful moment, Marisol wonders if her life will flash before her eyes.

Secretly she laughs to herself. This isn't enough to scare her!

Taken for a ride, so to speak, she's tossed about like a rag doll as Adelheid tosses her against the main mast and couples it with a fearsome burst of silvery chi energy. Pain only makes Marisol stronger in the long run, she reminds herself somewhere in the midst of it all. She's not out yet.

Not just yet!

When that energy subsides, Adelheid may find himself staring right into Marisol's gray eyes as she suddenly surges forward, a glowing fist aimed right for Adelheid's pretty face..!

With a solid crack of chi-laced knuckles, Marisol's fist finds its mark, just as nature intended. But it doesn't stop at one--that would be too easy! No, Marisol swings her fists twice more, two delightfully nasty hooks one right after the other as the redheaded half-Spanish girl offers a wolfish grin in response.

But she doesn't let the young Bernstein off the hook that easily. Lashing a hand out, those long digits snare the young man by his collar, introducing him to her forehead before she shoves him away and dips low. Why?

Why, to finish the series of blows against the blonde with a chi-laced uppercut, of course!

Jesus! Ignoring the gunfire now would be fairly pointless, especially since she's just seen her teammate get -shot- by God only knows how many bullets. Concern flits through her features briefly, quickly replaced by a cold, calculating look once more. Letting the enemy know she has a heart is not something she's prepared to do just yet.

"'ang in there, Eva... I know you can 'andle this. Remember Thailand? We faced much worse, didn't we?"

Hoping that will be enough to bolster the girl who is becoming a friend to her, she offers abbreviated glances toward the other two and calls out, "Try and get this nettin' down if you can. Wotever it takes, we need to get the Suiryuu mobile again..." Though her reasoning is less about protecting the ship than protecting the innocent bystanders still aboard it. Something she doesn't seem to be doing very well at all, considering what she's gotten Marisol involved with. Forget the fact that Arika never really asked her to join in the fray; forget that the half-Spaniard is nearly an adult and able to make her own decisions. This was something that was asked of the punk princess and so that makes her responsible.

"Marisol, Zach, be careful ya 'ear me?" How Drake manages to keep his team on track, she'll never figure out. Getting a dose of leadership in a situation like this gives her a new respect for the Stars' leader.

There was a wee problem with her previous plan though. Boomerang cutters are launched into Adelheid and did absolutely nothing to help the netting work its way free. A deep frown causes creases to form on her brow.

"'ey! Baby Bernstein! Feel like dancin'?" Granted, it is not the most sane question one could ask while there is gunfire going off behind her, but the diva -is- attempting to stay focused to the task at hand. Boots begin to slide about the deck in a rhythmic manner as she begins her approach. Drawing closer, a hand lashes down to yank the cutters from the deck. Once securely taking hold of the cutters, she twirls away from him and vaults up onto a crate. Blood may be dripping down the cutters, but she's going to clip away at the wires anyhow. After a few snips, she drops down in a pirouette her leg snapping out with a roundhouse kick toward his shins, trying to hit him just as Marisol's attack lands.

"I'm fine, don't worry about me right now," Eva replies in reponse to Arika's concern, then taking a slow breath to calm her nerves and the pounding pain in her shoulders and side. "... Please, just focus on keeping yourself safe!" Eva can protect herself, but she can't protect everyone else at the same time. Especially if they're battling different people. Steadying her gaze on Brick, Eva uses the man's choice to focus on Zach now to her advantage, jumping in to attempt a feint to the chin with her left, followed hopefully by her true attack with a true punch to the man's chin with her dominant hand, her right. Alright. Gigantic Pressure. This attack... this attack stops /giants/ mang. Utter giants! It stopped Sagat! Adelheid probably fantasizes that one day it's going to stop Rugal. But stubborn redheads? Hell no, it seems. Marisol weather the proverbial hurricane and comes out fighting, holding her wits admirably... and peppering the Bernstein heir with chi laced fists... and a rather potent headbutt, too. Now /that/ set Adelheid reeling, and he staggers backwards, lifting a hand to the mesh black covering his face, in obvious pain. In short: No, he does not feel like dancing.
The experienced, if young 'R' lieutenant recovers his wits somewhere in the half-seconds before Arika drops him to the ground more permanently, and rather than letting that last uppercut floor him, he lets the impact carry him into a rather impressive, if haphazard, backwards leap.
Landing in a three-point crouch, Adelheid pants heavily for air. He doesn't pause long, however, suddenly rushing sidelong across the deck, towards the point where Brick is pinned down by substantial enemy presence. His arrival is announced by a forward, spinning backhand, special-forces style. The singular twist of the approach on Zach is led by those clenched knuckles, as the 'R' commando gets his new orders, "Pull back and regroup!"

Brick Russel is a man that has one talent that raises him above the rest. He can show up at the right place, at the right time. He is also good at what he does, which is hitting people with his guns. A handy style, if he does say so himself, there's a grin of satisfaction when Zach goes down like a sack of potatos. "Tough luck, kiddo. You almost had me." his hollow voice echos.

But no, he didn't forget about Eva, though he is clearly suprised, even with his eyes hidden when Adelheid barks his order. Well, I mean, if you insist man! But he's good at SHOWING UP at the right time not PULLING BACK at the right time. Weapon restrapped, he has one last tangle with the schoolgirl to deal with, he jerks slightly from the feint that puts him right into the punch afterward that sends him staggering to the side, falling to his knee for but a split second. Suckerpunched by a girl. That's just plain embarassing.

Well with a bit of distance, small as it is, it looks like it's time for Brick to bail, his steps heavier as he runs for the proverbial hills, knowing just one thing:
His Gun-fu is otherwise unstoppable. GODSPEED, BRICK. You'll get another chance! .. Possibly.

Though Arika may not have asked the half-Spaniard girl to get involved, there's no reason why she should feel sorry or guilty about the current situation. Hardly! If anything, a good look would reveal the obvious about Marisol:

She's enjoying herself. Even if Gigantic Pressure hurts just a bit. Giants or no, Marisol won't be stopped that easily!

And the best part - likely to the delight of the ninja in charge and, maybe, the others present - she's doing some good. She's helping the others stave off some noisy invaders.

All for a good night's rest.

So it should come as little to possibly no surprise that Arika's well-wishes fall upon relatively deaf ears. Instead, her focus is on doing what she can to put her fist through a few faces - faces that are clearly keeping her from her beauty rest. But she does not press her attack against the Bernstein heir; instead, those gray eyes swivel from the young man as he suddenly attacks the OTHER person Arika warned. The guy who just got punched by the girl she'd previously fought in this silly tournament. Wait.

She's here? "Oh hey!" the half-Spaniard girl calls out, offering her a rather random wave in the chaos. Then those eyes flicker aside. Adelheid Bernstein is...retreating?

"Well, that's no fun," the girl remarks, idly rubbing her shoulder as she attempts to catch her breath. She needs to - that guy hits pretty damn hard. Glancing over her shoulder, those gray depths peer toward Arika. "So, uh, what now?"

Ohhh no. Last time... last time Adelheid was the fish that got away, thanks to his father's quick thinking and maneuvering. The punk princess isn't about to let that happen again, not so easily anyhow. This time there is no Sakura around, willing to let a Bernstein go so easily.

See, Arika has been given a task.

Correction.

She's been given several tasks. By different people. The most important of which, at the moment, is to get the EMP netting off the ship so that she can ensure the safety of others. This is NOT done because those running the Suiryuu have asked it of her.

No.

This is done primarily because it is what Drake would do. It is the right thing to do. And so, it is getting done, even if she's got to stop worrying about cutting the netting free and deal with the new onslaught of invasion -first-.

"Now we got two options, mate. We finish this bloke 'ere, or we cut the nettin' free. Me? I'm of the mind to finish 'im off first, then worry 'bout the nettin'."

Then worry about Hurricane Hime.

Keeping the cutters in her hand, she leaps upward again and cuts them into the wire. This time, they're not so forgiving and they get stuck, with her dangling from them. Gritting her teeth, she decides to use this to her advantage and she swings her body back and then releases it, trying to land herself directly in front of Adelheid.

"Fancy meetin' you 'ere," she quips as she springs forward and attempts to latch her arms about his throat and twist her body to the side while trying to secure a small chokehold.

Zach pivots to the side, the punch coming in at a speed he can handle. He spins on the heel, allowing Adelheid to pass him by...

...even as he summons the beach-ball burst of Psycho Power to smash into the prodigy's back once more. He'll be damned if he allows Adelheid to get away with any of this. Glen has no love for the 'R' Organization. "You ain't getting away with this..."

If it helps, said girl was trained by a hairy bear of a father to punch hard and well. No girl of his will punch like one, no sir! They better be able to beat up people in case said father leaves an unbroken bone behind after he kicks their asses for hurting his precious little girl and-

There's a reason Eva doesn't mind being overseas, as much as he loves her father. The fear that he's going to take one of her losses as something personal is very strong. So. Yeah. Girl tries her best to hit like a burly guy, doesn't really get to that point, but still packs a punch. No pun intended.

However, it seems that this 'R' team is retreating. While Eva could jump in to get a final hit on the two retreaters, she refrains, going back to continue the task of breaking the cords. After all, they could very well send reinforcements if she dilly dallies too long, and Zach and Arika seem to have the situation covered. "Marisol." Calling out to the half-Hispanic, she says, ".... If you're not too tired, would you like to help with this? When this gets down, we'll be able to use our electronics again."

Adelheid's gaze tracks back to his previous position long enough to know that Arika is coming in after him... and Marisol is not. This is important information to have, because phase 'b' of this little... tactical withdrawal has to do with drawing the aggression of Brick's two little friends to himself. One might think Adelheid suicidal, or perhaps just crazy, given his current condition... but the black-clad Bernstein seems to have lost little of his sheer alacrity... or resilience. Arika's arm closes around him even as he moves back towards the side of the ship closest to the Noah, and Adelheid flexes his neck just as tight as he can. It rather hurts, it's not exactly comfortable, but the girl would note she is not at all gaining the desireable effect... and while that might be correctable with another squeeze, in an instant the lithe Bernstein drops his weight, and heaves to the side, rolling away from the hold, and in fact using it to gain distance from Zach's little display, there.
Adelheid rolls up in a crouch, attention snapping immediately back towards his pursuers... for the moment it takes him to heave into an alarmingly high jump, arcing backwards with as much grace as retreat allows, his course taking him right over the side of the Suiryuu..... and into the forboding waters below. He got Brick out of the thick of it, the guy will have to look after himself the rest of the way.

When Arika and Zach pursue the young Bernstein heir, there is a brief moment when Marisol feels like, maybe, she made a mistake in standing idly by while everyone else made a move against the remaining R agent - the leader, no less. Yet Marisol does nothing as the young blonde moves; holding her ground, the redhead idly rubs the back of her neck, merely observing before she cocks her head to one side. Arika wants to finish the guy off. That's fine, but chances are. Well.

They're gonna retreat one way or another. In fact, he proves as much as he rolls and ultimately falls over the side of the boat into the waters below, lackey and all. Briefly she muses over the situation, and previous encounters. Didn't Alan say he was a part of this strange R group? And they did have a deal and all...

So there's no reason to prolong this, really.

Therefore the redhead shrugs. Glancing over her shoulder as Eva calls out for her, however, the girl half-turns, facing the other Pacific student with a lopsided smirk. "Pfff, tired? After THAT? Come ON. I'm not weak like that." Truthfully she IS tired. She'd really like to lay down now, because she thinks she's going to be sick. Boats and getting punched very hard don't mix. But damned if the half-Spaniard is going to fess up to that.

"That was fun!" the girl chimes, lifting her arms high overhead as she stretches with a contented sigh. Turning her attention back onto Eva, she sports a too-amused grin as she paces over with a strangely cheerful gait, to aid the other girl (and presumably others) in helping rid the boat of the mess of cables.

COMBATSYS: Marisol has left the fight here.

No. No! This won't do at -all-. Arika watches as Adelheid slips away from her and into the darkness of the night. Her fists slam against the railing and she curses loudly while taking hold of it in order to hope into the waters after him.

Then she recalls, she's got a job to do.

"Eva, Marisol, work on gettin' those wires down. Zach..."

Looks like someone decided it was nap time. A hint of an amused smirk can be seen in what little light there is, before the diva gives her head a shake. "We'll need more tools, and possibly one'a them 'ealers. Give me five minutes, I'll go take care'a that stuff..." Pause. "Eva, open up that bag I brought with me and blast the bloody thing if you've got to. I'd like to see this nettin' down as quickly as possible. We've got someone to find, and this 'as all just become quite personal to me..."

That's right, Adelheid. Run and get reinforcements while you can, because the punk princess has decided she's not about to sleep at all until she settles the score, or until the little Hurricane she promised to protect is back safely.

COMBATSYS: Arika has left the fight here.
