Description: What happens when you take three young women and drop them off in the middle of the Amazon to fight each other? Good television, hopefully. SNF crew have previously been to the carefully selected drop site to set up cameras and microphones, so as long as nobody runs off and gets themselves lost in the jungle, it should work splendidly. (Winner: Hotaru)
Being a regular competitor in SNF means being ready to make adjustments at the last moment sometimes. This match was supposed to be a bunch of girls or young women on teams fighting each other. But when one of the participants doesn't show, the officials just shrugged and threw up their hands. "We need to record something!" shouted the director. "Make it a free for all!"
Hotaru has mixed feelings about the jungle. On one part, it's full of animals and plants and nature, and that's great. On the other hand, it's steamy, muggy, miserable, and highly uncivilized. And dirty. That's not so great.
A small clearing in the forest has been selected as the location for the match to begin, but where it goes from there is really up to the fighters themselves. Hands clasped behind her back, the Kenpo artist offers Katelynn a friendly smile, never having seen the girl before. But for Naerose she offers a sort've mixed expression of surprise and uncertainty. It's been months since she had direct interaction with the red clad witch. Figures it would be another jungle where she would meet her again after Thailand.
Even in the Amazon, Katelynn is not afraid to go barefoot. She wears her traditional gi and is currently practicing her moves on an invisible opponent to get her blood flowing and her mind pumped up for the fight. Once she's warmed up, she proceeds to do some stretching, limbering up every part of her body as best as she can. She returns the smile to Hotaru while doing her warm-ups, but she doesn't exactly give a warm welcoming look to Naerose. The reason is a long story which will be explained at another time...
Nonetheless, Katelynn continues her warmup regimen, eager to begin this match.
So why was Naerose here again? Someone duped her. They sent her a photo of the clearing, and on the back was written, 'She is here, the one.' That was of course found by another photo and another photo. But now that she is here..
She pulls out her photos again, here is a picture of Hotaru,
"So.. she stole my cheese puffs and took my memory?" The witch says and looks at her hand for a clue. Indeed she lacks tatoos but instead has many markings of magic marker.
'Her name is Hotaru' it says,
"Hotaru.." She looks around and shrugs,
"Well this must be the place. Okay Hotaru.." there are two people.
She looks at Hotaru, She looks at Kateylnn,
"Alright twin Hotaru's. . " They look nothing alike,
"Lets do this."

Katelynn is studied for a little while. While the Kenpo artist doesn't know who she is, she can pick out some information by observing the way she warms up. Her style suggests a variety of karate might be used in the match.
But then there's Naerose. "We're not twins," Hotaru replies with a blink of surprise. "Her name is Katelynn." She doesn't state her own name. Naerose knows, right? "What happened to your arms? Cheat sheet for an exam?" she asks. Maybe Naerose is trying to get some type of degree or certificate or... okay, maybe she's just insane like usual.
The fight is called to start and Hotaru breaths in then exhales slowly, slipping into a ready stance. This will be the first free for all she's had since April. Here's hoping she can keep up with the ebb and flow of such a random battle, she ponders.
Katelynn simply scowls for a moment at Naerose, but then looks at Hotaru. She gives her a polite smile and bows formally. As soon as the fight is called to start, Katelynn is quick to jump into her fighting stance and then look between the two other fighters for a suitable target. Not sure who to take on first, Katelynn backs up and watches the other two, waiting to see what will happen next.

Naerose reads farther, ignoring the cries of the ignorant! "Remember Sam Fisher." She thinks for a moment.
"Okay, was that the guy from Twenty four or the guy from.." Now she's just confused and worse yet, she made herself so. This was terrible. But then.. whatcha gonna do. She decides to adjust her shades, making sure she read the ink right.
She looks down. She did.

The match has started but the other two seem to be hanging back. Hotaru glances back and forth with a bit of surprise. But then again, she's seen this before. After all, in a crazy free for all, being the first to jump to action can usually just get one clobbered from all directions.
"Yosh," the girl states, clenching her hands. Time to see how well her speed carries her forward! It feels a little wrong picking on Naerose while she's trying to figure out the strange mixture of marker notes on her arms to put together memory fragments enough to figure out where her cheeze puffs ended up... but Hotaru does feel like she owes the red witch a kick for ol' time's sake and thus she troes to do just that.
Charging Naerose, the girl swings out with her right leg in a swift, powerful round house, only to spin around and follow the strike with three swift left side kicks, going from low to high, "KYA!"
How coincidental that Hotaru chose to target Naerose first, since that's who Katelynn was going after as well. The witch and the Shotokan fighter have a bit of a history between the two of them, and it's not exactly a good one either. Which is why Katelynn intends to show Naerose the err of her ways by starting things off with a kick that starts off being snapped in front of her, while her back foot propels her forward toward the witch at a fast rate of speed!

Naerose meanwhile was thinking on Sam Fisher and reading her arm when this kick comes out of NO where and hammers her, luckily for the witch, it hammers her TOWARD Hotaru, who is coming to kick her too? Woah. The witch in a start of surprise makes a flash with her hand, it's like she had powder in there and lit it, but now this white light is all chi, blinding but harmless, except it reflects off her shades without any consequence, as she is hit with the start of Hotaru's kick she gives a full on baseball swing of her bat. Tit for tat.
Blinded by the sudden flash of light, Hotaru is blind to the clobbering swing that comes next, driving her completely off to stumbling sideways, her eyes squinted closed from the pain of having been struck so. Shaking her head in an attempt to be able to see straight again, she squints toward the direction the two opponets stand. At this point she's having a hard time telling the difference between them with her vision blurred by pain and watering eyes.
No reason not to take a shot though. Rolling her arm to her side, she charges it up quickly with a vibrant blue aura, before swinging her arm forward and sending a smal, shimmering ball of force flying toward Katelynn.

The energy comes directly at Katelynn, but she's swift on her feet and is able to avoid the ball that comes at her. Whatever it hits, though, won't be so lucky. Let's just hope it's not some poor bystander. But enough of that, let's get back to the fight, shall we?
Having gotten Katelynn's attention, Hotaru is now her newest target as she takes a couple running steps and then brings her right foot up aiming it right at the girl's chin!
Naerose meanwhile. . shouldn't be blind. But she is!
"AAaa! Help! All I see is darkness! All I see is darkness!"
Her broom goes in a circle, flailing as she swings it around completely unintentionally, the resulting swishes of air maybe coming too close to other people around.
Once such instance occured on October the fourteenth, when a young girl by the name of Hotaru was blissfully otherwise occupied with her close friend and opponent, Katelynn.
'The attack came out of no where.' an onlooker had later reported saying.
"Oh wait, that's cause my hat fell over my eyes." Naerose corrects the error.

By the time Katelynn dodges the flying chiball, Hotaru has finished wiping the water from her eyes after that first hit. Brooms don't get along with her head too well, really, and recovery took a while. But she sees the karate user coming in time to lean back, allowing the snapping kick for her chin to miss her for now.
The randomly sweeping broom strike on the other hand clocks her on the back of her head, sending Hotaru stumbling forward again. "Ow!" she winces, her right hand coming up to press against the impact. She's getting quite clobbered by the broom weilding menace. Which suggests she should probably keep a better eye on the unpredicable one.
But right now she's barely able to see straight, so rather than jumping back into the middle of the other two fighters, Hotaru just sort've stands her ground, trying to clear her vision well enough to see what's going on.

Katelynn is not one to fight dirty. That is, unless her opponent is known to fight dirty. Hence the reason she lets Hotaru take a rest and turn her attention to Naerose once again. She doesn't waste any time speaking to her, since this isn't a war of words. Instead, she attempts to grab the witch by the shoulders and hook an ankle around hers. If successful, she'll trip up Naerose's foot while pushing her backwards, sending her down to the ground.

Naerose was totally not expecting that. Grabbed by the shoulders, she's like WOAH and then she's like Eeeee! And then she's like *CRASH* she goes down like a pair of symbals. And then and then. She hits a rock or something cause that REALLY hurt.
"Ouch.. what did I hit?" She rolls over to the side and finds.. MYSTERY ITEM. Is it a shoe? A rock? Or did Naerose somehow get her own broom twisted behind her back in an impressive displlay of deftlessness? The answer? DINGDINGDING C.
Picking herself up the witch is like.. ugh.
"I need to do something about that whole tripping thing." the witch says and fixes her shades.

Finally having wiped her eyes clear of tears induced both by the headache that broom has become and the sweat that keeps getting into them from the humidity here, Hotaru takes stock of the fight. She really should stick to Naerose, but she hasn't tested herself in close against Katelynn yet. All she knows is that the girl was able to get out of the way of her chi ball well enough. What about kicks?
Charging forward, the girl slides in low, attempting to knock Kate's shin out from beneath her and knock her to the ground.

Despite Katelynn's best effort to defend herself against the incoming kick, it's of no avail. Hotaru kicks her in the shin, and indeed she drops to the ground. And to make matters worse, since getting kicked in the shin hurts mighty bad, she lands on her other leg, which adds to the pain. Nonetheless, she dusts herself off and gets back to her feet. Sensing a sudden momentum shift in the fight, Katelynn takes a moment to watch the two fighters.

Meanwhile Naerose is totally up and unscathed! She does a quick hopping action and brings her broom full on Hotaru. Man she's focusing all of her abuse on the kenpo fighter, ignoring Katelynn entirely. Could this be. . .Love? Are those dark shades full of hearts? Or is Naerose suffering dillusions again. Such as..
"This is totally what you get for hitting me with my own broom!" The witch exclaims at Hotaru.

Brooms seem to have the same magnetic attraction for the small fighter that guitars do. No matter how much she braced and prepared for the next attack sent her way, she just can't get out of the way of the slamming strike from Naerose that ends up cracking her on the shoulder.
"Itai!" the teen fighter hisses as she stumbles to the side, dropping to one knee briefly before pushing herself back up and whirling around to glare at Naerose. Why she can't figure out what to do about that annoying long weapon of hers is starting to get to the girl. But all is fair in a fight, after all, so she can't complain too much.
When she charges next, she attempts to get her hands on Naerose in order to open the red clad wonder up for a serious of punishing kicks right up the front of the young woman before backflipping away to land in the middle of the clearing, "Ya, ya, ya!"
While Hotaru is busy targeting Naerose, Katelynn is busy pondering what to do next. Then she spies an opening on Hotaru just as she goes to attack Naerose. All's fair in love and war, and this is definitely a war (or something like that!) Either way, Katelynn brings her right fist back and focuses intently on it, surrounding it with her chi, before thrusting that chi out towards Hotaru's stomach in the form of a bluish sphere.

Well this time Naerose is totally ready for hotaru. She's so pumped up. She's like come on, come on.
"I'm so gonna get you!" She says to Hotaru with a biiig old grin and then she's like ready ready...
"Here it comes, it's really coming!" She starts to charge with both hands.
"Oh this is gonna be awesome. So awesome." She charges some more.
"Right right righ- BLARGE!" She totally takes so much time charging that she just gets kicked out of her attack and left in a heap on the ground going.
"Ooooooo."

Sure, she heard Naerose's warnings about something big coming... but that didn't stop Hotaru. The girl is ready to dish out some hurt on /someone/ at this point, and dangerous counter attacks can be darned!
Landing after the rapid kicking assault she dished out on Naerose, the girl whirls around just in time to see Katelynn sending that energy blast for her stomach. Rather than take risks, Hotaru bunkers down and weathers the attack out before exhaling a little. That kinda stung!
At last, she takes a moment to concentrate on the two other fighters and take stock of the situation. But more importantly she tries to center herself and get the annoyance she has had thus far out of her mind. Her style requires precision, not anger driven flailing about...

Seeing how Hotaru took Katelynn's energy fist well, she realizes that her opponent is truly a worthy one. She then turns to Naerose, who seems to be taking a bit of time to recover from her failed counter-attack effort. Sad to say, even though she's recovering, she'd still better be on the lookout, because her comes Katelynn with a swift foot sweep...
Or is she? Just before she connects, she pauses and then uses the extended foot to pivot around and use the other leg to attempt the actual sweep!

Naerose hadn't even gotten up before Katelynn is totally on her and she's like WOAH and she's like okay, I better get out of the way, but she's on the ground! So the witch is like, Okay here I go, and she tries to roll aside but she gets to her feet just in time to fall for the fake sweep and hit by the real one then she hits the ground AGAIN. Man what a day.
"you gotta be kidding me.." She says as she falls back to a more comfortable laying position. "Where's my broom?"
Indeed, where IS her broom. It's in one hand and sort of moving through the air, like TIMBER , but Naerose totally doesn't see it heading for HOTARU.

And down goes Naerose. Hotaru was watching as Katelynn went to go strike her so she certainly saw the glasses wearing witch drop over... The wooden missile flying through the air, on the other hand, she wasn't quite paying attention to. After all, what are the odds?
What are the odds indeed. Hotaru leans back, rolling her right arm out behind her, beginning to charge up for her next attack, when the broom flies by right in front of her face, just barely missing her. "Ano..."
But Katelynn isn't off the hook, as in the next moment she has to deal with Hotaru charging in at her, hopping into the air with a few swift whirlwinding strikes, before landing and continuing with a rapid sequence of punches once she hits the ground. Each strike is augmented by a spark of chi, and if she manages to get through Katelynn's defenses, she'll finish with a chi laced roundhouse to knock the young woman away!

Seeing no easy way out of this one, Katelynn simply braces herself for the impact, ready to take a lot of punishment from the young girl. Each blow does hurt a lot, especially with the charging that's been applied. But the roundhouse doesn't exactly knock her away. Rather, it knocks her to the side a little, which gives Katelynn an opportunity to launch into her own similar method of what Hotaru just did to her.

After putting so much effort into her own attack, Hotaru is quite winded by the time Katelynn comes after her with her own sequence of strikes. The punches and kicks that follow nearly crumple the girl who isn't very good at taking those kind of strong hits from anyone, really.
But Hotaru manages to stay standing even when the assault stops, relying on the support from a tree behind her to do so. Lifting her hand to wipe her mouth, she struggles to catch her breath while keeping an eye on her opponent. But she doesn't stay put for ever, finally charging forward and taking to the air with a swift, lateral snap kick aimed for the side of Katelynn's head, hoping to try and put the tough karate user down with a decisive hit!

Even in her weakened state, Katelynn can still manage to protect her head against the incoming kick. She absorbs it through her arm and manages to minimize the pain she would've probably felt if it hit her completely. But for now, she decides she needs to catch her breath...

As Katelynn pauses to collect herself, Hotaru lands from her jump kick a couple yards off. Turning around to face the other girl, she considers the prudence of charging in at her again verses just getting her attention to keep her from having too much time to restore her strength.
Finally, she slams her foot down on the edge of a branch, flipping it up into the air, and then swings out swiftly with her foot to send the small object hurlting toward Katelynn, intent on keeping the other girl in the fight.

A tree branch? Come on, you've got to be kidding. But apparently Hotaru isn't, which is why Katelynn raises her arm to block the incoming branch. As soon as that's taken care of, she rushes towards Hotaru and brings her left fist up and aims it at the side of the girl's face.

The Kenpo artist is barely staying upright after what she's been through, but she isn't quite out of it yet. When Katelynn comes in at her, the girl weaves to the side in order to avoid the strike to her face, followed by taking a step backward on top of that. Her lips are pressed tightly together as it's all she can do to stay focused and not stumble with how she's feeling at the moment.
A hope backwards is followed by a higher jump forward as if she means to leap right over Katelynn. But a flip at the apex of her jump brings her diving down toward the other girl knee first. If she connects against Kate's shoulder with her knee, she'll follow up with a kick from her left foot against the other side of her head before backflipping away.

Katelynn decides to show Hotaru what it means to counter someone's attack, but unfortunately, she didn't predict the way Hotaru was going to come at her from the air. As a result, her Palm Blaster hits nothing but air, while Katelynn is sent staggering backwards. Despite barely being conscious, she's still got a bit of fight left within her.
Completing her backflip, Hotaru lands on her feet a little ways off. She saw the karate practioner preparing for something that looked like it was definitely going to hurt, but she managed to slip by, perhaps due in part to a small amount of luck.
But her opponent is strong enough to stay standing so Hotaru doesn't let up, charging toward her again with a swift kick... only her foot is too far away to even hit. The swath of blue chi that follows behind her leg, on the other hand, might be close enough to do the trick. "KYA!"

The chi does the trick, and even though Katelynn blocks, it's all that she can manage to sustain from her opponent. It looks like she's on her way out here. But before she does, she somehow manages to re-perform her Energy Fist, except this time wtih both fists for maximum power. But once that's done, she's down on the ground.

The small fighter isn't quite down yet. Exhausted? Yes. Hurting? Definitely. Ready for a nice bath to clean up and enjoy a relaxing flight back to Southtown? /Absolutely/. When Katelynn manages to defend against the energy swath, the Asian girl decides to make one last desperate sweep with her left leg this time, intending to try and take the other girl down or exhaust herself beyond all hope trying.
But Katelynn isn't there when the second blue sweep of energy rushes past... but her signiture energy attack is! Fortunately for Hotaru, her own chi manipulation manages to overwhelm the attack, disrupting it in a collision of power that fades away a moment later.
Hotaru takes a few steps back, bracing herself for any follow up... But as it turns out, she's somehow managed to stay the only one standing even after all the knocks on the head she took! Body a little shaky from the adrenaline that pulled her through in the end, the girl bows toward Katelynn and... then toward Naerose as well, shaking her head a bit. These two opponents proved to be quite tough and her skills in such a random group battle might need some work she realizes.
