JINCHUU: Round 4 - Intro (1/7)            Tue Oct  2 2007  Seishirou
------------------------------------------------------------------------------

It happened during the night.

As if Mad Gear's savage assault on the Suiryuu (ending up in a /truck/ embedded in the hull) wasn't enough, the nebulous "R" Organization has had its eyes set on the focal point of Jinchuu for some time now. They made their move in the middle of the night, stealth helicopters dropping down like phantom across the eerie ship's sides. A moment later, all Hell broke loose.

A net over the hull. Clamps on the ship's hull.

An explosion above. The lights go out.

Professional soldiers on board.

For those brief and brutal moments of confusion, mass havoc is wrought across the ship as all personnel mobilize to fight off the intruders. However, the veritable army of fighters aboard? Theirs is not to be the fate of the crew. They are instructed not to engage. Instead, a placid voice sounds in all pertinent parts of the ship--the voice of the Director of Operations.

The ship is currently being invaded, he explains. But rather than ordering an immediate defense, the director orders quite the opposite: All matches that have not yet begun will now begin immediately.

Will you take heed in that word? Or will you give in, and try to stem The Flood?

!! MATCH DEADLINE IS: Tuesday, October 9th, 11:59pm !!

Okay fellas. We had a lot of AWESOME RP this round. Keep it up and we'll be outta here soonish.

Anyway, just some quick notes this time. Sorry the round layout is so late--we've been having a few personnel troubles, and getting all of our ducks lined up, along with me being partially comatose. Luckily, we've got some good scenes lined up this end.

Now, the pace of the tournament is going to start picking up a little bit. Being on your A-Game will be important here; there's a LOT to take advantage of in this and the following rounds and getting your RP in, logged, and noted will be necessary. Grab it when you can guys--we're not gonna make it easy for you from here on out. 8)

First off, as stated before, we're going to be tightening up the deadline pacing structure very slightly--we'll still try and get a full weekend in between deadlines, buutt... We do expect some missed matches and scenes from this, but extensions will, after this round, be tentatively awarded where appropriate (and timely. If you need more than few days you are killed by boulders.) It's no big.

Because secondly, this'll be the last round of bonus matches for Jinchuu. There's one advancement to the next round, and the finals will consist of exactly one tournament fight to crown the victor of Jinchuu. All extraneous battles will be purely Special Mission type fights. Please make your RP awesome!

Thirdly, this round will occur all in the course of an IC single day. Probably most matches will occur in the sapace of a /few hours/ from eachother as the battle rages. It's gonna be pretty intense, pre-date all social you do aboard until we figure out what happens to the ship. (this is why there ARE NO EXTENSIONS THIS ROUND UNLESS YOU'RE KIDNAPPED GET YOUR MATCHES DONE C_C)

We're also going to start unrolling a lot of the threads of plot we've set over the course of the last two rounds. Hold onto your hats.

!! MATCH DEADLINE IS: Tuesday, October 9th, 11:59pm !!

SADA vs. ZACH in "BROADSIDES"

What's the sensible thing to do, when you're being attacked by a big evil aircraft carrier? That's right. ABANDON SHIP! Except the Suiryuu's only lowered one lifeboat. Just one. Women and children first! Sada's female... and a minor, so she's both. And Zach, well, Zach is kinda short so he counts too. Mind, as you guys drift out over the ocean, it becomes very obvious that a little lifeboat is not really the safest place to be. You have no engine. No oars. What you do have...are explosions smashing the surface of the water. Explosions lighting the sky. The Suiryuu and Black Noah are shooting at each other. Helicopters from the Black Noah, raining fire from above. Cruise missiles and turrets blazing from the deck of the aircraft carrier. And from the Suiryuu, honest-to-God black powder cannons, spewing seal-engraved cannonballs across the sea. You're right in the middle of this, with nowhere to go. It's about then that a voice calls out from the Suiryuu, one of the crew leaning over the side. "START FIGHTING," he cries, "LOSER GETS LEFT BEHIND!" ... but he can't be serious, right? Right?

AISLINN vs. TIFFANY in "SAFETY FIRST"

Despite Hiretsu's best efforts last round, Mad Gear's truck is still embedded in the side of the Suiryuu's hull.\ So far, Kenji and Sada have done the best to dislodge the truck. But despite the beating Kenji's fists, plus Sada and Katelynn's bodies (..) unloaded on the tractor-trailer, it's still there, now a treacherous land mine waiting to detonate. Speaking of which! Riko has now stepped in and with her capable hand, has done her level best to make the situation much, much worse. The partially flooded bay in which the truck landed in is now reinforced and lined in--not a metaphor--anti-personnel land mines on the walls, and tethered mines floating underwater below. Every surface potentially deadly, if you land in just the wrong way. You're currently bound to an elastic line from the bay's ceiling, along with your opponent. There's plenty of give in the line, too. A personal agility match. The first one to hit a mine loses. Oh, don't worry, there are plenty of safety personnel on hand to get you down before too many mines are triggered, causing the truck to fall out of the hull. Well.. there /were/ plenty of safety personnel on hand. Was that something about an attack over the PA? Did those guys just /leave/? According to the message, you're supposed to continue with the fight. Worst yet, your lines are starting to fray.
[Note: At some point, if you guys are triggering any of these land mines, after Kenji and Sada's match the truck WILL slide out of the hull. This is going to cause a lot of uncomfortable listing of the ship. Which is going to make it hard for the fight to continue without many more explosions. Please RP accordingly.]

ARIKA vs. VYLE in "BALLROOM BLITZ"

A rematch between two great fighters. This fight was supposed to take place in the ship's lounge, up on the Promenade Deck. The thing is, by the time Arika and Vyle get there...there's already a fight going on. A fight between the Suiryuu crew and invaders. Gunfire fills the air, shattering bottles behind the bar. Soldiers are using the overturned pool table as cover, trying to take out the sniper by the grand piano. Through the haze of smoke, one of the dining room waiters notices you. He looks up from what he's doing - beating an 'R' soldier senseless with a wine bucket. "WE'VE GOT THIS COVERED," the waiter yells, "JUST START FIGHTING!" ... Okay. Right.

JINCHUU: R4 - Bonuses (4/7)               Tue Oct  2 2007  Seishirou
------------------------------------------------------------------------------

BONUS MATCH! ARANHA vs. HIMEKO vs. TRAN in "UNTO THE BREECH"

With all the chaos going down, you'd think the crew would welcome your help in fending off the invaders. But no, they've insisted you get on with your fight. So they've shoved you into this compartment. And they've locked the door behind you. The door's big and round, with more locks than a bank vault. Try as you might, it's clear the thing isn't meant to be opened from the inside. Which leaves the rest of the chamber. It's a very strange room, even for this ship. The floor isn't flat, it's curved. So are the walls and ceiling. In fact, the entire compartment is a big cylinder. A long metal tube, lying on its side. Mind, it doesn't seem like there's anything weird beyond the shape of the room. At least...until the ship begins to rock, and the entire chamber begins to glow. Brighter and brighter, rising in intensity. Then one end of the cylinder opens, revealing open sky and water. You're looking straight at the Black Noah. The glow around you is still building. Lends a whole new meaning to the phrase "cannon fodder", doesn't it?
[CONDITION: If match doesn't finish in five rounds, you each accept one Level 4 or 5 Physical Free move from the lowest ratio. Fight continues in the air. And then potentially the Blacknoah or the open sea, depending on how good the gunner's aim is with people fighting inside the barrel of his gun.]

BONUS MATCH! MOMO and HINATA vs. M0M0 in "TERMINATOR"

Momo has never been a young lady to take loss well. Fortunately for her, she took care of her janky little doppleganger rather nicely. Unfortunately, that construct hasn't.. been one to take that loss well either. Reactivated during the assault on the ship, it's taken its sole operating directive quite literally: There can only be one. And this time? M0M0's safety interlocks have been disabled.

BONUS MATCH! (PACIFIC RESISTANCE) vs. (GUARDIAN KINGS) in "SOCIAL NETWORKING"

The Suiryuu and its staff has many contingency plans for many things. Explosives plans. Invasion plans. What they did not account for.. was a massive net being dropped over the entire ship. Unfortunately, this means that until the staff responds, the Suiryuu cannot escape its tormentor. Unfortunately, that makes things a battle of attrition. One that the Blacknoah will most undoubtedly win. Therefore the meaning of this battle has been hastily repurposed by Jinchuu staff. In the grandest clash ever devised, both groups have been assigned to fight it out over the entirety of the exterior of the Suiryuu, using the netting as a hastily-devised rigging setup. The new fight card, replaced in secret, will detail the mission: Wreck the netting, or wreck your opponents trying.
[Note: By Hakuya's request. This is a very large scale match. Not all of you need to be present at the same time for the scene to be done. Pair off, even up ratios, let only a subset of your teams go at it, do it as one large match--doesn't matter how you guys do it. Just get it done, and get any and all logs (name them similar if you can, k?) out to us]

BONUS MATCH! SOMA vs. HIRETSU in "BEHIND SCHEDULE"

The Director of Operations has quite the list of matters to attend to during this attack. There are formal defenses to organize, a security chief to give a crash course to, matches to manage... not to mention the problem of a massive aircraft carrier trying to simply take the entire arena yacht by force. Oh, while the Suiryuu has more than adequate defenses for such a thing, there is the matter of ... security breaches while the rest of the ship staff and defenses are.. otherwise occupied. An opportunity to snoop around, Mr. Travedi? It just so happens Hiretsu never did run across Kasumi to settle that match conflict. After wiping out a group of invaders seemingly singlehandedly, the Director will turn his attentions within. For the purposes of Jinchuu, the novel-writer will do just fine..

BONUS MATCH! KYLE and ICHIRO vs. NIKOLAI in "RIOT"

Nikolai /was/ doing well in the normal tournament brackets. Seemingly untouchable, the deadly mob enforcer brutalized a king's gallery of faces--Hinata, Alan, Hakuya. It would seem ... the tournament organizers have not turned a blind eye to the plight of the people. "Judgment will be rendered." Nikolai would have faced one of the other competitors atop the promenade deck, in the field of battle. At least, until his read that he no longer was fit to be an agent of Jinchuu. The ground turning pliable underneath the feet, he would be dumped right on the main deck. In the middle of quite a few of Rugal's best men. And a few people unlucky enough to be in the way.

BONUS MATCH! ELLE vs. EVA with ALAN as Chaos Agent in "THE MIDNIGHT FLOCK"

A match held.. in a secret aviary bay just beneath the superstructure? When the EMP triggered, the bay unfolded and lifted up onto the top of the promenade deck. Rows upon rows of cages, holding rows upon rows of collared birds. THe fight was just meant to be a simple skyway match. But with the invasion aboard, there are now a lot of animals to avoid injuring. Not that Alan particularly cares about them. Or the fighters. They're all in his way.

BONUS MATCH! NAEROSE vs. HINATA vs. KATELYNN in "EMERGENCY MATRIX"

While you were initially going to fight it out in another of the ship's many cargo holds, your fight has been repurposed in the face of an emergency situation. In a control room close to the engine, thin filaments hang from the ominous looking machinery overhead, emanating a field that makes the skin tingle and the vision blur. These filaments will attach to whatever part of your body presents itself, and then, propelled by powerful electric shocks should activity not present itself, the fighting will begin. Though the filaments can be dislodged with some effort, more will simply attach. As a deep weariness settles in your body, something pulses deep within the ship. Though the EMP detonated over the ship's hull knocked out over 70% of the ship's power, there exists an amenable substitute. You see, the normal human body generates more bio-electricity than a 120-volt battery and over 25000 BTU's of body heat...imagine, then, what a trained martial artist is capable of.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

[SPECIAL MISSION] SAKURA vs. RUGAL in "A GENTLEMAN'S INVITATION"

Well. Seeing as how anyone else on the ship with, oh, /any kind of fighting ability whatsoever/ has been duly occupied with either matches or the small army flooding the ship, it's more or less up to the Security Chief to remove the strongest of threats aboard Suiryuu personally. While up til this point it's mostly been the helicopters -- Hiretsu thought Sakura was very cute when she started throwing Hadoukens at them -- things change for the worse when the leader of "R" himself sets foot on the boat. As one of the strongest aboard the ship, Sakura is the one best equipped to handle the threat.. but even tomboy fists might not be enough to handle the leader of "R" himself. This might require.. some executive authority to be leveraged on the part of Jinchuu staff.

[ASSASSINATION-TYPE MISSION]

Parameters:
* Destroy your opponent.

NOTES
* Either combatant may OOCly sign on as many people as they think they might need to balance or appropriately represent the fight.

JINCHUU: R4 - MISSION (7/7)               Tue Oct  2 2007  Seishirou
------------------------------------------------------------------------------

[SPECIAL MISSION] "A CLOCKWORK ORANGE"

Unfortunately, things look bad for the Suiryuu. Though it is a vessel of great wonder and great secrets, the Suiryuu is only but one ship against the combined might of the "R" organization. With the matches proceeding absolutely as scheduled without deviation, it is going to be terminally difficult to leverage the talent aboard the ship against the fighting force, not to mention the latent distrust most have for the ship itself. As a result, the ship is now in fundamentally greater danger than before. That means that preparations must be made to .. delicately tip the scales back to where they are favorable. Before certain of Jinchuu's solutions become necessary. As a result, Hiretsu and Riko both work behind the scenes to create valuable alliances. Certain battles .. are retasked. Special dispensation is granted, handed down with the authority of the Captain himself. Will the fighters even complete their matches as scheduled? /Will/ they buck authority? There are certain resources aboard the ship that will be leveraged. Dan. Blanka. .. Blackjack?
The key ... must be wound.

[SHIPWIDE TYPE MISSION]

Parameters:
* Agents of Jinchuu, choose: Fight in your match, or fight "R".
* Spectators and deputies, choose: Assist "R", or assist the ship.
* Survive.

NOTES

* This is a carryall event rider: There are quite a few people who are going to want to get involved with the larger plot and what's going on here. Fights might begin, but /may not actually complete/, despite what the standing orders are for most of the people on the boat.
* For those of you in Blackjack, you might be granted a reprieve in the form of a P.A. message.
* Certain of the matches might even be raided by "R" personnel.
* Rugal is going to be arranging some group fights here with his boys. OOCly, these will generally take precidence over normal matches.
* @MAIL PRIME AND SEISHIROU if your match was not completed due to IC circumstances.
* Take advantage of the craziness for true awesome.

!! MATCH DEADLINE IS: Tuesday, October 9th, 11:59pm !!

JINCHUU: "Within and Without"             Thu Oct  4 2007  Prime
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
RP threads arising from Round 3, "Within and Without". If your name isn't here, it's not that we don't love you. We do! This is just a sampling. And maybe some hooks to unravel...

* * *

TRUCKER - Yeah, the Black Noah just snuck up on the ninja ship, but let's not forget the ORIGINAL attack on the Suiryuu. No wimpy aircraft carrier for these boys, our hero of Mad Gear smashed a TRUCK into the ship! The attack was foiled, but it looks like Katana, Mad Gear, and the other troublemakers were hired by Blackjack. What were they after?

DEALER - Elle and her Blackjack compatriots are still on the Suiryuu. They're digging ever deeper. And by now, they've got some interesting theories about just /what/ this whole tournament's about. Very interesting. Are they right? And what's their stake in this?

DEVIL - Marise. She's far older, far more deadly, than most people think. A fighter from another age, another time - and it seems she knows of the Ryouhara. Seishirou's clan. And she seems to have a past acquaintence with Hiretsu, the mysterious Director of Operations aboard the Suiryuu...

DIRECTOR - But who is this Hiretsu dude, anyway? Seishirou and Riko are well known for misdirection and mystery - so who is this old man who's trusted with the tournament?

HENCHGIRL - Sakura's working for the bad guys. No really. She's Security Chief of the Suiryuu. Why her? She seems fairly happy to do her job, but after all this time with the ninja, might she have second thoughts?

COPYCAT - Momo snuck aboard the Suiryuu. And yet her "matches" have been made prime-time features. And now there's an honest-to-God robot duplicate Momo running around the ship. Why on earth would anyone build that? Sheer perversity?

CLEANER - Arika's always had her suspicions. Why the heck is there so much weaponry on this ship? She's determined to do something about this - to declaw the Suiryuu. Along with her compatriots in the Shooting Stars and a little help from Hurricane Hime. And yet the ninja of the Suiryuu seem remarkably /unconcerned/ about this...

INSPECTOR - Soma's been aboard for some time now. Asking questions. Talking to people. It's clear that our intrepid undercover Interpol officer doesn't like what he sees. But is there enough for him to build some sort of case? Is there evidence? What's the crime? And why, if they know who he really works for...was he specifically invited to this tourney?

MOBSTER - Nikolai. An odd man out. Not a known fighter, professional or amateur, unlike all the other so-called Agents of Jinchuu. A man who's remained aloof from the other tourney participants. But a man who's nonetheless smashed his way through the tourney rankings. Until now - the organizers have forcefully booted him from the ladder...
