Jinchuu - [R2] [Cut] Special Delivery

Description: Kyle needs to get onto the Suiryuu after being completely boatblocked by Yamazaki. In desperation, he turns to the number one choice of nobody ever: The Haggar Express.

It's what passes for an opening ceremony for Jinchuu. Some distance away, Joe(?) and Aislinn are just having a big ol' throwdown, and everyone's attention is over there. Nobody notices the big man walking out of an alleyway, tightening thick leather gloves, and glancing over toward the Jinchuu as it approaches its final dock.

Mike Haggar, the beleagured mayor of the beleagured Metro City, sets one arm on his shoulder, stretching it out. He makes one last glance around, then turns back to the alley, motioning with his finger.

Finally, the main event -- at least, for Kyle. That beating from Yamazaki wasn't a fight, nor a real obstacle in getting to the tournament's real venue; at best, it was some sort of warning from one of his opponents of what could happen if he got on the boat. Kyle Travers, like all Travers, does not much listen to warnings.

"Thanks again for coming out, big man," Kyle says, cracking his knuckles a little. "Really good to see you face-to-face again."

Haggar's bare chin glistens in the setting sun, the beard finally shorn from his face. He glances around one more time, and confident that nobody's running at him and telling him to stop looking suspicious, he starts to hunch down in his wrestling stance. It's not really a fight, but blows will be exchanged today. "Yeah, it's great to see you too, kid. What, you came up to my knee last time we met? It's a shame it couldn't've been in better circumstances." He gives a weak grin over to Kyle, but the weight of his Thailand epiphany still sits heavily on him. He looks somehow diminished.

"OK, that boat's not going to sit there forever, so we've gotta get this done. And if I'm going to manage this, I've gotta get pumped up." Haggar's hands slap against his tanktop'd chest, one after the other.

"OK, take a swing at me."

COMBATSYS: Haggar has started a fight here.

If there's one thing Kyle can't notice about Haggar, it's how diminished he is. There's a little bit of hero-worship that keeps Travers from noticing, mercifully, and as such, he responds to Haggar just as he would have when the man was in his prime. "I came up to at least your ass," Kyle counters, with a good-natured grin on his face. "I was never /that/ short."

The request to put hands on Haggar comes as a bit of a surprise, but not an entirely unexpected one; he's seen Cody pick fights with a few punks before going for the bigger shots (albeit for very different reasons), so needing to be knocked around a little to pull out something big makes pretty solid sense. "All right," he says, rearing a hand back and going for a hard punch right for Haggar's gut. It's not much, but it does precisely what Haggar asked.

COMBATSYS: Kyle has joined the fight here.

It's quite a lot like punching a brick wall, where each individual brick is itself a smaller brick wall, and the words 'BRICK WALL' are written in a flashing neon sign to really get the point across. The punch rocks Haggar back a step, and he walks in a slow circle, wheeling his hands in circles as he starts pumping up.

"C'mon now, Kyle, you call that a punch?"

COMBATSYS: Haggar takes no action.

For Kyle, that /was/ a pretty nasty punch. He's not quite as strong as Haggar yet, though he's certainly got the potential in him /somewhere/ -- but if the big man is telling him to kick it up a notch, he's going to kick it up a notch.

"All right, let's try this one!" he says, suddenly rearing his hand back -- but he's not going for a simple punch, in this case. A brilliant flash of white light emits from his arm, and when he swings it forward, a ball of white light, trailed by swirling color, flies at Mike's chest.

COMBATSYS: Haggar endures Kyle's Charge Punch.

The blast catches Haggar full in the chest, bringing out a 'Whoo!' as he jogs a few steps back with it, pumping his arms across his torso. "Now we're getting somewhere!" He jogs in place for a few minutes, shaking his square head. "C'mon, give me some more!"

He gives Kyle a little motivation this one, running directly at him. His hands come up to clap hard on his face as he does, a fierce grin starting to split his mouth.

COMBATSYS: Haggar endures Haggar's Quick Punch.

At last, Kyle, too, is really starting to get going; perhaps Haggar's enthusiasm is infectious. "Now we're in business, huh?!" Kyle replies, giving Haggar a grin back as he readies himself.

As Haggar runs toward him, he moves to intercept, shouldering into the man and then leaping up, spinning his entire body around to deliver a series of forceful spinning kicks to Mike's face. It's pretty clear just where he learned /that/ little trick, just watching him go.

COMBATSYS: Haggar endures Kyle's Bushin Senpuu Kyaku.

Haggar runs directly into Kyle's borrowed technique with no desire to stop. The kicks smack into him, almost driving him back, but his hands snap out once the last hit clears his face. "Heh, did Guy teach you that one, or did you just watch it enough?" It seems Haggar is not looking to do such foolish things as 'warn Kyle' as red surges down his arms and he simply twists, ripping him out of the air. It's very clearly go time.

COMBATSYS: Haggar successfully hits Kyle with Giant Swing.

The big man yanks Kyle right out of the air and immediately starts spinning. There's a pop from the crowd relating to the Aislinn/Joe fight, but miraculously, nobody notices what's happening over here. The Suiryuu is approaching the dock - another few moments and Kyle's last chance to board may very well pass by. Haggar grits his teeth as he cranks up his power, feet pounding on the same spot of the pavement repeatedly as he spins faster and faster.

"Make sure... you roll... when you hit!" Haggar goes onto one foot for a spin, slams the other foot down to jump into the air, the whole thing functioning as a helicopter to extend the jump. The forward momentum is vital - this ain't no bocce ball toss. The smooth paved walkway of this part of the harbor cracks as Haggar lands, tilts back...

...and releases. Happy trails, Kyle Travers.

"Just wa --" Kyle starts, but is very rudely cut off by Haggar's giant arms grabbing him. He was expecting this form the start, but expectation and preparedness are two entirely different things; when he's sent flying full-speed for the Suiryuu, he can tell -- regardless of how much Haggar tells him to roll -- that it's going to hurt like hell.

Kyle Travers sails through the air like some sort of dread football, flying toward the deck of the Suiryuu... and lands, hard, on it. Something can be heard cracking, even from Haggar's own cracked spot on the pavement; it's unclear if it's the /deck/ or Kyle's back.

The Mayor makes one more complete turn to burn off his momentum, leg swinging out to the side as he lifts a hand to his brow to track Kyle's progress. As he reaches the apex to his flight, Haggar cups his hands over his mouth. "Give 'em hell, kid, and get back to Metro! The city's going to need you!" In some respects, that statement could be ominous.

Well, he's not wanted on that boat - this is for the rookies, and he's anything but. Dusting his hands off, Haggar turns away with confidence, to go get a return flight ticket and hold down the fort.
