SNF 2007.07 - Otakon 2! Arika/Himeko vs Zaki

Description: Three young women are 'donated' by Howard Enterprises to "spice up" Otakon with an unorthodox fighting demonstration. What can be more unorthodox than a fat guy in tiny yellow hotpants that gets in the way, giant wooden 'Baka' mallets that magically appear, and plenty of crowd involvement! (Winners: Arika and Himeko)

Right now it seems the Baltimore is the place to be with the fight that's been lined up for tonight! The premise isn't exactly clear, at least that is aside from entertaining the crowd, and every opponent in tonights match has a degree of capability to do so, some higher than others.
There are probably some grumbly folk, though, whom didn't want to shell in 35 bucks for a whole day pass just to see a couple of fights, but boo hoo to them, emerse yourselves into some otaku culture!

It's extremely hot outside, but inside the convention center is very sweet air conditioning, and a large area has been blocked off for the opponents to do battle in. There are two escalators that go up or down to or from the second floor, and littered all around the carpeted floor is a ton of promtional material, standees, figurines, posters, oversized plushes, anything the anime-cranking companies could shove in there to give themselves some publicity!

It's a world that a bookworm like the heroic Hurricane Hime has never actually familiarized herself with, sure conventions are popular in Japan too, but she'd never gone to one, she doesn't even watch a lot of anime. But there she is, squirming her way through the crowd with two shopping bags full of goodies and DVDs, and of course a near enormous stack of manga. Not many people know who the pink-clad teen is, but seeing as she's constumed, she's definatly one of the crowd favorites!
And she knows whom both her opponent and her partner is tonight, her opponent moreso of course. She'll be looking forward to this match; she just hopes that afterward she doesn't have the Seijyun mafia on her case!

Getting to Baltimore proved to be a wee bit more difficult for the punk rock princess. After a run in with Balrog earlier in the week, Arika was only -just- released from the hospital this morning. While the flight was not uncomfortable, it did feel as though it took forever and so she's had to do a lot of walking to work out the aches and pains from sitting for a prolonged period.

Walking through the crowd of the convention is rather easy for her right now. Not many recognize her with the black denim jacket, baseball cap and sunglasses. Visiting a few vendors she picks up some souvenirs which are easily kept in small bags within the pockets. A quick glance to a nearby clock on the wall tells her it's nearly time for the 'show' to take place. Weaving her way through the crowd, she situates herself near the blocked off area and discards the 'disguise'. Not really showy, but then again, the diva isn't really wanting to display the rectangular gauze bandage on her lower back any more than she has to. At least the cargo pants are covering the cut in the back of her knee.

Deep blue eyes scan the area for both her partner (a previous opponent and one that seems so oddly familiar to her) and her opponent (whom she's never had the opportunity to meet before). The latter is more difficult for her to try and pick out of a crowd though, since she's barely even been shown a picture before the match.

Well, the venue is one thing, sure, but Zaki has something else that's really bugging her. As soon as she heard Himeko's name she got pretty irked by it, and right now that's a whole lot more annoying to her than the fact she's at an anime convention in a foreign country. However, with the fact that so many of the locals here seem to be mistaking her for a J-rocker here and asking her Malice Mizer this and Hyde that Himeko just might avoid the larger part of the gangleader's wrath for it.
With an already angrily-twitching crimson eyebrow raised way up high on her forehead, Aoi is just now pushing her way through a crowd of gaijin pseudo-otaku on her way toward the sectioned-off area she's supposed to fight these two girls she's never met. "Goddammit... Do I even look like I'm carrying an instrument? And like I could sing with a mask on, get out of my face already!"
Seriously though, it's probably not good for the health of anyone here for her to be this mad already. Not even her own. "Oh, there you are. Come on then, let's get this over with, and soon." Please?

Himeko has never personally met Zaki, no, but with a newsie-alter ego, it's a 'must-know' person for the high school scene! Actually, Hime had always thought of Zaki as rather scary, and to see the leather-masked person in a clearly cranky mood doesn't help the story very much.

But as the old saying goes, 'the show must go on', and she'll put on the most entertaining fight she can! When Arika arrives, the heroine greets her opponent with a grin and a salute, "Citizen Arika!" she pipes with a stereotypical superhero tone, "We meet again, this time not as enemies, but as allies! A- Er.. Are you certain you're good to fight?"

Arika doesn't get a moment to answer before a loud horn wails in the air, signaling for the fight to start and the crowd goes nuts instantly. "Yikes! Well then, you asked for it! Hurricane Hime... SANJO!" and with that the pink-clad girl bursts forward, closing in on the gangster-girl with a flip and then a dropping heel-kick! "Oshyaa!"

Citizen Arika? The diva snickers silently to herself at that. "I'll be fine, mate. Just a wee little injury." She's not half as bad as Drake wound up, after all. Immediately after answering, her attention is turned to the angry girl with the mask.

Joy.

Another masked fighter.

At least this one will -hopefully- not have claws.

"Unless you're 'idin' a kazoo behind that mask, I'd say not." But since she's requested oh-so-nicely to have the fight get underway, the diva begins to stretch her arms out in front of her. "Right then. Let's do this!" Without a thought, she watches the direction 'Hurricane Hime' takes and decides to skirt in from the side. Rushing forward, she chambers her right fist and sends it up toward the gangster-girl's mask. From her side, the left hand bursts forth. Bright violet chi surrounds the hand as she slams it toward her opponent in a palmheel strike.

Ahhh now she made it even worse, saying that *word* in Zaki's immediate presence. One can even see the vein starting to throb over one temple. The woman is about ready to burst a blood vessel now! ...and she hasn't even put her guard up yet, either. But that may or may not have anything to do with her rage level. She's pretty tough as far as schoolgirls go, and she's more than willing to endure anything Arika throws at her for a chance to smash the bejeezus out of little miss supernerd.
It doesn't quite work out that way, though. She hits this little snag, see, in the form of a fat guy in tiny yellow hotpants standing on the end of her chain after she unshoulders it and brings it back. "..." She looks steamed, and the edge of her mask is already a little frayed. DAMN YOU MAN-FAYE.

Himeko is displaying the utter power of literary justice it would seem, the power of books will not be denied! Though, that wasn't really a book attack, was it? But the girl isn't suprised in the least that her attack met it's target, and she gives a Saishu-esque, "Ha-HA!!" as she sets her hands on her hips, striking a pose.
Immedietly cameras flash afterward. Huh, that's kind of new!
Also a safety reminder, "Please keep clear of the fight, we're trained professionals, but if you pass the line, your safety isn't gauranteed!" The pink clad girl winks, then twirls around-- Only to yelp and leap back when she gets a good eyeful of Zaki's expression. That woman looks really mad now, and she takes a few steps back to get a little more behind Arika, "Let's show her the true power of teamwork!" she suggests to Arika, and points then to Zaki, "Give'er all you got! I'll cover fire."
And it's true, reaching into her scarf she whips out her paperback book, and tears three pages from it. They go rigid in just seconds, in which she then whips them toward Zaki like oversized darts. Rest assured if Zaki underestimates their power, she's going to be in for a nasty suprise!

At the public service announcement, Arika just snickers again. Hard to keep a straight face, it is. The diva winks at the cameras before nodding once to Hime. "I'll see wot I can do." No promises, no guarantees.

Hurricane Hime seems to be providing a distraction in the form of flying paper (exactly how this is done, the diva is not certain), and she hopes to utilize this to her advantage. Moving across the area swiftly, she attempts to reach the gangster-girl at approximately the same time (or shortly after) the paper darts fly into that area. Once before Zaki, she uses both hands to grasp at the gangster-girl's throat in an attempt to lift her up a foot or so off the ground. Should this be successful, a slam attempt will then be made in the hopes of dropping the girl on her back.

It looks like it's gonna take a few more pages than that to distract Zaki, because it turns out she's pretty fast when she wants to be. There is a downside to this, though. As soon as she blurs into motion and sways from side to side fast enough to leave the briefest of blurred images behind for a split-second, some of the younger gaijin in attendance start calling her a ninja. The mask also helps them to make this connection, of course.
"I'm not one of those either!" she barks, just before thrusting her hands up and sweeping them out to the sides to knock Arika's grasping hands off her sharp lapels. And she of course has to pop her collar after that, and try to choke the person who just tried to choke her. It's a reflex by now, from all her years of gangstering.
When Aoi Himezaki chokes you though, it's not done with just her vinyl-wrapped fingers. It's done with chain. And since there's a large man still standing on the first chain she drew out, the one that seeks to coil around the diva's throat is a smaller one that snakes out from inside one of her uniform sleeves that she attempts to catch on the other side and draw tight.

Oh poor Zaki. She's definatly not getting a break this convention, she's likely going to be the star of the show by appearance alone. In fact if one listens really close, one of them cheers, 'Go Uotani!!!' never mind the fact the character is blonde and uses a pipe, not a chain. Oh those crazy con-goers.

Hime is definatly impressed by Zaki's athleticism, but now she's regaining her confidence now that she sees Arika might possibly be in trouble. Choking people out? Hey, the little Hurricane is capable of doing the same thing! She draws a handful of index-sized papers from her sidepack and leaps up into the air. And she snaps the papers forward, still attatched like a rope to try and wrap around Zaki's throat.
If she succeeds, then when she flips over, instead of landing on her feet she stays upside down and would forcefully dangle from Zaki's neck like spider-man or something, letting her technique choke Zaki out! Though after three bounces or so, the link would break dropping the bookworm onto her back.

Thankfully Arika is alert during this match. As her hands are flung to the sides, her eyes steel upon the gangster-girl before her. From the corner of her eye, she spots the chain begin to snake out. Quick thinking has her grasping the knotted purple cord around her right hand and yanking it free. Swinging it out to catch the chain, she weaves her head to the side and then smirks at the ganger.

"Nifty trick."

A step is taken backward, and her feet begin to bounce back and forth. Left, right, right, left, left right. Just hopping in place. Suddenly she swings her body around in a perfect pirouette. As she comes out of it, her right leg is drawn up vertically. Hip rotates sharply. Finally, her instep is snapped toward Zaki's torso.

Wow, Zaki certainly wasn't expecting that, and given one of her hobbies involves doing complicated things with pieces of string she can actually kind of appreciate what she just saw Arika do. "Heh, same to you, I suppose."
But then the redhead has to block a powerful roundhouse, and as she stops it with a forearm she goes staggering back toward the edge of the crowd. And while 'Hurricane Hime' is still inbound with her next paper attack.
And just when it looks like Zaki's been caught by the paper lasso, she turns her head to look back over her shoulder, only to grab the nearest person and drag them right up over the barrier that seperates them from the fight-in-progess so she can swing them up at Himeko and knock her out of the air. Her chosen victim turns out to be a girl in a Starscream suit, made of what seems to be some kind of foam. Too bad, she was hoping it was something harder!

Yeowch! Of all things, Hime wasn't expecting to get clobbered by a giant(sort of) robot! It actually looks rather comical, the looks of suprise on both peoples faces, though Hime's is a lot easier to see. It leaves the cosplayer screaming, and Hime seeing stars!!! Flying back a bit and tumbling along the carpeting, the saikyo student is quickly back on her feet, and holding her side. "Ow."
And then she's springing back into action, but this time she's bringing along a little friend! Seems there was a giant wooden 'Baka' mallet left laying around on the floor and with that picked up she's going to leap into the air and try to smash it down over Zaki's head! And this is followed up with a 360 spin to strike from the side! "Huaaaah!!"

Everyone's using props. Looks like the punk rock princess is going to have to do something a little different. As she carefully avoids the foam Transformer, the diva looks rather perturbed. Foam the outfit may have been, but the person underneath certainly couldn't have been all that light to be tossed around in such a manner. "You alright, mate?" Eyes dart to where Hime is before they flit back to their opponent. Seeing Hurricane Hime get up and grab the prop, she knows things will be fine. For now.

As for doing something 'different', she quickly circles around Zaki. Feet cross one over the other in something of a rhythmic pattern. Stopping opposite the side which Hime has chosen to attack, Arika speedily thrusts her corded right hand up toward the mask again, hoping to knock it askew or fray it a little more.

Leave it to anime fans to find something like that funny, or even worse, some kind of poetic justice. One of them *had* to have thrown that comically-overlarge mallet out there for Hime to pick up, and Zaki is of course not the least bit amused by it. "Tch!" she clicks her tongue.
...and then she again dodges at inhuman speed to get out of the hammer's range, only to get suckerpunched in the mask as Arika comes in from another angle. Which, doesn't really hurt all that much, physically, but it does seem to hurt the redheads pride enough that she feels the need to rub her jaw.
It doesn't last, though. She' soon standing tall once more, and stomping over to loom down over Himeko, since Arika is pretty much her same height, if not a few centimeters taller, and it wouldn't really work as well. Also, she gets this evil gleam in her eye which is capable of paralyzing if one is foolish enough to meet her gaze head-on.

COMBATSYS: Zaki focuses on her next action.

Himeko is left for a moment striking at the ground instead with a suprised look on her face again. But she grins, nodding to her partner, "Yeah, I'm fine! Don't worry I'll carry my weight!" And why?
"Because my name is Hurricane Hi-YEEK!"
Cue Hurricane Hime flailing her arms and falling onto her butt when Zaki looms over her, and for a moment, just a moment, the heroine may be paralyzed with fear! It's like looking into a rattlesnakes gaze it is, but there's one thing Zaki may not have realized; that fear and Saikyo should not and will not blend for long, she has to summon all her guts, spirit, and style, but eventually she thrusts her arms in the air, "Yaaaaaah!!" and with a stomp forward, she extends her left arm, flexing it and shaking her fist, in a taunt of challenge! "YAHOO!"

Fight on, Hurricane Hime, for everlasting peace! "Citizen Zaki! Do you.... -YAHOO-??"

COMBATSYS: Himeko gathers her will.

Leave it to Hurricane Hime to completely baffle the punk rock princess once again. For someone so little, the tiny hurricane seems to have a whole lot of presence. "C'mon, mate, you can do it," she calls to Hime; just to help her bolster her confidence a little more.

Evil gleams and glowers have little effect on Arika though. She's had enough of them from her father in the past. Brushing off the intimidation tactic, she glares back at the gangster-girl. "Think scarin' people younger than you is fun, do you?" A change of tune for the diva, considering the beginning of her last match that involved Hime. Impatiently, she drops backward onto her hands and thrusts her right foot upward toward Zaki's torso in an attempt to knock her back and away from her temporary teammate.

Yes, she does indeed find enjoyment in petrifying people with but a look. And sadly, so does the crowd. One Dragon Quest fan in attendance can even be heard shouting "Oh snap, was that Zaraki!?" And it kinda ruins it for her. Add Arika's own little comment to that and the gangster's ego just seems to deflate all of a sudden, allowing for the wind to be knocked right out of her when Arika's kicks her in the midsection.
The redhead *did* try to get her chain up in time to retaliate, but it seems that fatty still hasn't realized he's standing on it. Or maybe he's doing it on purpose? He obviously did come here with the intent of offending people with that outfit, so who's to say he's not trying to offend Zaki personally by making this fight even harder for her than it has to be? "Rrrgh... "

Hurricane Hime isn't very happy about it either.. Really, the last thing she wants to be in is in debt to ... That... Person. Luckily Hime is oblivious to Zaki's troubles, it's very convenient obliviousness at that. She grins to Arika again though, looking only slightly sheepish, "R- Right!"
She's also a little suprised by Arika's words, she didn't forget the haunted house fight, but she wasn't going to hold a grudge about it! But back to the fight, with Zaki seeming momentarily stunned, she will take the opportunity to zip close and behind Zaki, creating another 'rope' of paper held with both hands. If Zaki's not quick, she'll find the little Hurricane attempting to horsey-ride of sorts, using the loop to try and strangle Zaki again while standing on the girls back. Eventually again the link would break, making her fall to the floor.

Noticing that the chain is stuck under the grotesque man's feet, Arika blinks. Bad luck for Zaki, but perhaps it's best for her and Hurricane Hime at this point. Chain attacks can be just as painful as blades and claws, and with injuries she'd rather like to avoid the pain of weaponry. But like Hime, she doesn't dwell on it too much, there's a fight at hand!

Limbering up her body, she begins to roll her shoulders back in a slow shrug and tilts her head from side to side. This should give her 'teammate' enough time to create the paper rope and attempt to lasso the gangster-girl. Though this could potentially make things extremely difficult for her, she goes through with it anyhow. Her head bops to a beat only she can hear, and every step closer to Zaki sees her making a circular swing with it. Should Zaki manage to get up, she'll launch her forehead toward the girl's nose on the third swing. Otherwise, she'll simply attempt to crash her forehead down upon the top of the girl's head and with any luck, leave her in a bit of a daze.

Most of Zaki's anger is still focused on Himeko, even after all that's happened. Maybe that's why she's made such a poor showing? Who knows. If nothing else, she's definitely not going to let the smaller girl make anymore of a fool out of her by riding her around like a pony.
Instead she does a backflip and keeps going till she's at the end of the rope's reach, but it again costs her as at that point there's really nothing she can do about Arika. Not without her chain at the ready.
But after taking that last beating, she's just about had all she can stand and decides it's time to make damn sure Man-Faye gets what's coming to him. So with blood dripping down from behind her mask, her form begins to light up and flash yellow and red as a fountain of blue sparks shoots up out of the floor around her, and then a current of what looks like pure electricity shoots down the length of that chain and shocks the disturbing cosplayer so hard he goes flying back into a comissions booth before the Sukeban from Seijyun ultimately slings the end of her supercharged weapon at Himeko's legs.

Wow it looks like Arika is really laying down the hurt here, good for the Punk Rock Princess! However Himeko's dealing with her own little thing here, or at least she's trying to! It's tough trying to land hits on the gangster! She skips back a couple of steps, and in a mildly defensive position, realizes that Zaki is about to go all out on her! Just how badly remains to be seen, but there's a glint in the girls eye as she holds out her hand holding a handful of papers, "Hold it! It seems you don't know what you're dealing with, so allow me to tell you my na-"

But she doesn't get to finish her speech, as the supercharged chain swings at her legs and sends her spinning at least three times from a standing position! The girl crashes flat on her stomach, the papers that were once in her hand raining down on her body. "... Oof."
That, er, never backfired before!

Electricity is spied a little too late for the diva to be able to help Hurricane Hime in any way. Wincing as the younger girl is hit, she slips out of the way of it and motions for someone in the crowd to form a foothold with their hands. A young, dark-haired male con-goer seems more than happy to oblige and so she clambers up onto his shoulders. It takes a few seconds for Arika to feel safely balanced, and then she springs into action.

Leaping forward off of the shoulders, she executes a flip in mid-air. Body directed at Zaki, she begins to uncurl from the flip with the intention of hitting the gangster-girl with enough force to knock her onto her back on the ground. Upon completion of this, if successful, the punk rock princess should wind up in a cross-body splash over the other girl.

To some of the con-goers, Zaki can do no wrong. Because of they're not thinking of her as a gangster, or a schoolgirl, or any of the things she actually *is*. For that matter, most of them can't even remember her name five minutes after hearing it announced, as evidenced by the cry of "Watch out ninja J-rocker chick!" which goes out to her as she's in the middle of advancing on the fallen Hime and raising her chain way up over her head. They're trying to warn her that Arika is already en route from above and ready to crash down on her.
But she pays them no mind. She just keeps walking, and when Arika thumps against her back she just staggers a bit and continues on, until finally she's but inches from Himeko and raising her leg up incredibly high and showing just how far vinyl can be stretched by someone with enough flexibility, and her foot seems to light itself on fire as she brings it down and tries to stomp her back. And should she connect, she intends to grind her heel there and make her beg for mercy. "Don't. Say. That. Name. Again."

Himeko is very impressed with Zaki's flexibility and the ability to do so in what looked to be a pretty constrictive outfit! However, it's not going to stun her long enough to keep her from getting more defensive once she's rolled onto her back, and she is pretty suprised that the gangster is so upset about her very very cool name! "Wh- Wha?" she asks, withdrawing her paperback book once more and drops into a crouch with the book held up above her.

WOOMPF! if the sound of heel hitting book that refuses to cave in, and it's sort of like two swords clashing as she struggles with the blow for a moment. "I will not be deterred so easily, you know! I.. rrrgh...!" It takes a bit of strength to push the attack back, but once she does, she jerks her book so papers shoot from it to form another lasso about Zaki's ankle. If she manages to do so, she gets to her feet and leaps straight up into the air to send Zaki crashing flat onto her back. Should she succeed, she'd then flip in the air and try to land right onto the gangsters gut, "Ha-HA!"

Well, that didn't go exactly as orchestrated. Arika didn't think the gangster-girl would just continue -walking- as she attempted an airborne bodysplash. It's just not something people -do-!

Often.

Hitting the ground, she rolls into a ball to stop from putting any pressure on her injuries. Twisting out of it the very moment she's able to get up to her feet, she stands to her full height. Deep blue eyes glance between both Hurricane Hime and Zaki as she tries to figure out what the older girl's issue is.

Then again, it's not really her business, right?

Since the others are somewhat distracted with one another, she loops around to the back of Zaki once more. Sliding her right arm out in front of her, she attempts to lock the girl into place by choking her. Simultaneous to this, her left arm lashes out to make the attempt at wrapping about the girl's waist and hold her in place for Hime.

COMBATSYS: Zaki endures Arika's Quick Throw.

Aoi looks either too exhausted or too fed up to really care about defending anymore. She lost this thing a long time ago, and a big part of it is probably the fact that she let anger cloud her mind. She just can't stand it in here with these people, and supernerd has said 'Hime' one time too many. And then there's the fact that Arika hits way harder than her partner anyway, and if the gangster was smart she would've tried to do something about that early on. But oh well. At least she didn't really underestimate anybody! She just let herself take way too many risks, is all.
But once she's started down a path like that, she isn't going to just *stop*. So now she's letting herself be choked and held in place, and pulled down so Himeko can flip and land on her flexed abdomen. Hngh.
By all rights, she *should* stop moving after taking that much abuse, but just to be contrary she breaks free with a few violent jerks and rolls herself over into a brief handspring that during which she tries to split-kick and hit one girl with each foot.
After that though, it looks like she really is done for the day. She manages to get to a knee after landing, but that's as far as she goes before whistling for the ref's attention and waving her arms in front of her in a gesture of surrender.

COMBATSYS: Zaki can no longer fight.

There are a few options for the little Hurricane, quite a few really, and many of them that could provide very entertaining results! However, the superheroine completely wusses out when she sees Zaki lay up with one last good attack which instead of crashing into the girl, once again ends up meeting her paperback book instead. She shifts slightly upon impact and then backs off once the girl is up again- Still has some more juice in her??

No, not quite, it looks like the gangster is pretty much done with this convention-going madness, leaving the pink-clad girl slightly confused at first. But she realizes the kick was toward her teammate as well! Did she survive??

COMBATSYS: Arika dodges Zaki's Kokou no Pride.

When the quarry breaks free, Arika watches her with interest. Zaki seems to have an uncanny need for perseverance. Admirable, in a way. Because the diva happens to be watching the girl, she notices her launch into a handspring. Dropping to the ground and rolling over into a crouch, she hears the whistle. A nod is offered to Zaki, to signal that she's aware the other is out and no further attempts at attacks are made.

Arika glances around at the cheering crowd. Another brief nod is offered to the man who allowed her to leap from his shoulders. Poor sod looks mighty happy that he got to lend a hand in all the excitement. Taking a deep breath, she rises up to full height and then looks over to Hurricane Hime. "Good job."

Before an announcers voice can burst over the scene, she brings both hands up to her lips and blows kisses out into the crowd. Smiling broadly, she winks at one of the cameras and as the lens zooms in toward her she motions for Himeko to come join her.

The announcers voice blasts out, "WOW! HOW ABOUT THAT FIGHT? Looks like we may have a fighter that hasn't even been scratched! Let's send a team down there to verify that. In the meantime, THE WINNERS! ARIKA FADE AND HURRICANE HIME!" After which medics are sent into the area to ensure that no one was seriously injured and that there was indeed a 'flawless' win.

COMBATSYS: Arika has left the fight here.

Hurricane raises one of her gloved hands in the air, and jumps around a bit "Yahoo!" However this time around she doesn't to her usual flipping out or jumping around! No, this time after providing the crowd with a power pose, the little Hurricane looks to the most active camera, and with a slightly, very slightly weary grin, she points to it and speaks up, "Hey Preston, I wish you luck on your exhibition match! Because after you win, I think I may very well gun you down, it's only fitting that the champion of educational justice becomes a champion of Saturday Night, right?? Watch out, or you'll find out why my name is Hurricane Hime!" <3
