SNF 2007.06 - Chun-Li vs Shingo/Shoma

Description: Crime Doesn't Pay: Chun-Li puts on a demonstration, with Shingo and Shoma acting as volunteers. (Winner: Chun-Li)

"Hello everyone! My name is Chun-Li, and thank you for allowing me to be here today!"

Those words were how Chun-Li's little presentation started, and it was soon afterwards that the tiny auditorium was filled with silence, bringing a wide smile to her face. The auditorium was packed. Standing room only, and even that was becoming sparse, a great many students having taken the time to attend her little lecture. Dressed in a brown leather bomber jacket, and the light blue modified qipao dress she was famous for, Chun-Li started by encouraging everyone to stay off of drugs, stay in school, join an exercise program, all with the theme of keeping body and mind fit. "...it's never too early to start training your body or mind... I was learning kung fu when I was only five! It's never too late to start, either, so if you haven't done anything to keep your body fit, you should make the goal to start soon!" she extolls, before adding, "Does anyone have any questions?"

Of course, many hands in the room shoot up. Chun-Li points to one near the front row, indicating them with a nod and a smile. The girl stands up, runs a hand over her dress to make sure it was smooth, and then asks, with an almost nervous voice, "Chun-Li... what happens when you're trying to catch a criminal? Can you show us?" That question is echoed by a sound of assent by the majority of the auditorium. Chun-Li, however, looks taken aback. "You mean... show some martial arts moves?" she asks, the girl nods, and sits back down.

Chun-Li's smile shines bright soon after, "Sure!" Holding the microphone loosely, Chun-Li assumes an almost serene stance, closing her eyes, and drawing a breath... before a face catches her attention in the crowd. "Shingo Yabuki..." she says into the microphone. "Would you like to come up and help me show everyone a few tricks?" Chun-Li says, her eyes flickering over the crowd. "Shoma Sawamura, how about you too?"

Shoma gives a slight start when his name is called. Chun-Li...is kinda famous for being able to THROW DOWN. However, the chance to at least try and learn SOMETHING from this World Warrior might prove helpful if he's to try and free his classmates from Vega's control.

So it is with his usual fire that he springs to his feet with a wide grin. "All right!" he bellows in a Higashi-like manner as he starts to move for the stage. It's through training alone he doesn't club anyone with that huge bat he's lugging around...

The fact that the ever popular World Warrior Chun-Li was going to be visiting Taiyo High AND giving a lecture of sorts, has attracted a good majority of Taiyo students to the event. The fact that Shingo Yabuki is attending such an event is hardly a surprise. See, Shingo has followed most if not all of the major and minor fighting tournaments, and being that the World Warrior Tournament is one of the more prestigious, Shingo was VERY much aware of Chun-Li's amazing kung-fu skills, fighting grace, and sense of truth and justice. These reasons alone were enough for the young Yabuki to attend. In fact, at best, he expected some inspirational speech, and maybe to ask a question about how she trains.

Lucky for Shingo, he's gotten more than he expected! An opportunity to have Chun-Li demonstrate her amazing skills, with him assisting? NOTEBOOK WORTHY! Unfortunately, her calling his name initially registers more as shock than anything, and the greatest student of Kyo Kusanagi sits silent and motionless for a few long moments, before very cautiously standing up. Looking around nervously, Shingo attempts to make eye contact with Chun-Li, a goofy smile on his face as a single solitary fingerless gloved hand points towards his chest. "Umm, you mean me? I mean, I'm Shingo Yabuki...just...you know who I am! What an honour!" Shingo's voice has hints of nervousness, but if anything, has far too much elation for it to come out clearly. His cheerful smile turning into a full blown beaming grin, Shingo bows deeply towards the kung-fu cop, and eagerly makes his way towards the stage.

It probably wouldn't be too much of a stretch to say that as the two students push through the crowd, their fellows might give them quiet words of encouragement, cheer them on, or maybe even jeer them about how bad they're going to get beat. Falling out of her stance from before, Chun-Li takes a step away from the side of the stage, bringing her microphone back up to her lips, before saying, "Thank you guys. Now, I called these guys, because... well... I know they're tough enough to handle this sort of thing. Now, it's going to be hard to show how to ~catch~ a criminal, like you asked, because... well... most criminals try to run, and this stage is very small. But every so often, they get it into their heads that they have a good chance of fighting me off."

Chun-Li pauses, watching Shoma and Shingo's approach, before she concedes, "And some do have a good chance of that. From what I've seen of these guys, I'd like to say that they have a good chance of defeating me here, so let's make a promise." Chun-Li says with a pleasant tone of voice, shrugging the bomber jacket off of her shoulders, and then pulling it off, sleeve by sleeve, to fall on the stage below. "I won't hold back, if you guys don't?" she says, casting a wink in Shoma's direction, before glancing towards Shingo.

Shoma rolls his neck as he gives thumbs-ups to the students wishing him luck. He's still grinning widely as he hops up on stage. He blushes a bit at the wink from the taller woman, looking slightly flustered.

"Of course! Natsu would never leave me alone if she heard that I did," Shoma mutters something about 'amazons' under his breath as he unshoulders the bat and whips the tip around in a tight circle before locking eyes on Chun-Li. He's heard how fast this World Warrior is, but sometimes you have to see it to really understand.

                                 |-------\-------\0           Shingo

As Shingo makes his way to the stage, he suddenly realizes who he'll be teaming up with, and grinning widely, nods over at the fellow Taiyo High student, tossing him a quick wave before addressing Chun-Li. "I assure you Ms. Chun-Li, that I NEVER hold back. You have my word that I, Shingo Yabuki, number one student of the GREAT Kyo Kusanagi, will give this my all!" Shingo exclaims as he pumps a clenched fist into the air, right before tightening his headband and pulling up his Kusanagi style gloves.

With a little stretch here, and a little stretch there, plus a few really quickly scribbled notes in his fabled notebook, Shingo stands up straight and assumes his standard battle stance, fists at the ready. Looking over yet again at Shoma, he smiles brightly, "Sawamura-san, let's do our best and show her how hard we fight here at Taiyo High!" and with a simple thumbs-up to his partner in battle, Shingo's attention turns back to Chun-Li, however his smile never fades. "Ms. Chun-Li, I speak for myself when I say it would do us, or rather I, a great honour if you were to start us off. As I always say, ladies first." With a quick bow, and a twinkle in his eye and smile, Shingo keeps his attentions on Chun-Li, and braces himself in his stance for whatever may come next.

Amusement twinkles in Chun-Li's eye as she catches what Shoma mutters under his breath, Chun-Li reaching up her thumb to snap the microphone off, before she drops it, using a grip upon the cord itself to lower it to the floor of the stage without damage. Chun-Li's eyes flick towards Shoma and lock upon his as she watches his movement, her expression growing less amused, and more calm. Shingo's proclamations draw her attention that way, a flattered little smile turning up the corners of her lips.

"That's very gentlemanly of you both." she says, the smile disappearing with a slow exhale. Clenching her left hand into a fist, and holding her right palm rigid, she brings both of her arms up in front of herself, the left hand held closer to her body. Stepping forward with her right foot, she twists and puts her side towards the students, her head twisting to point towards them directly. And in a burst of motion, she begins, Shingo the target of her initial motions. With flowing steps that seem to be half-hops, she crosses the space between herself and Shingo with those motions, her hand lashing out to try to grab him by the front of his jacket. Should that grip be true, the rest would follow "Sorry about this." she murmurs, lashing out one of her thick legs behind Shingo's, and then bringing it back suddenly, hoping to knock the legs out from under him as she then slams his back to the auditorium floor.

Shoma decides to play a bit of support fr Shingo, who has experienced first hand things like the King of Fighters tournaments. This puts Shingo a bit up the experience ladder from the Taiyo batting ace. He pulls a baseball out of a pouch on his back, and gives it a light toss before slapping a line drive at Chun-Li with a cry of "OOOOOOOOSSU!"

She /did/ ask the pair to not hold back. The ball tears a quick path towards its target...

Shingo honestly didn't fully expect Chun-Li to make her way towards him initially. Of course, the likelihood was higher, and he was semi-expecting it. He just really wasn't sure exactly WHAT to expect. Then again, the way Shingo utilizes the Kusanagi-ryuu, and from his fighting experience, always expect the unexpected, and be prepared to retaliate as necessary. Much like Shingo wasn't expecting Chun-Li to try to grab the front of his jacket, Shingo tries to count on the fact that Chun-Li probably isn't expecting his counter-move.

"GECCHU!" Shingo cries, as the moment Chun-Li grabs the front of his jacket, the young Yabuki hops up, and raising his right elbow, brings it down with rapid force and speed towards Chun-Li's collarbone...or shoulder. He's not worried too much about where it connects, as long as it's not the head or chest. The strike intending to at least loosen the kung-fu warrior's grip, and give her reason to think twice before attempting another grab. Resuming his fighting stance, Shingo takes a few steps back, cheerful smile still on his face as he raises one of his gloved hands and swishes a finger side to side in a 'no-no' situation. "Gotta be careful when attempting to grab someone hot like me. You're liable to get burned." Requisite smug grin, as Shingo realizes that was probably the most awesomely Shingo statement he could make!

...

Sighing and frowning slightly, Shingo deeply bows to Chun-Li, a deft movement that would hopefully be caught by his opponent. "Apologies! Apologies! I didn't mean it...just...getting into the spirit of things!"

From the moment Chun-Li grabbed Shingo's jacket, she knew she was in trouble. As committed as she was to the attack movement, however, it was very difficult to do anything but try to brace herself for the descent of the elbow, the elbow thudding painfully into her shoulder. That not only loosens her grip, but causes her to stagger backwards. Luckily, she had the presence of mind to whip up a hand and catch that fired baseball, her entire arm jerking with the impact. "Nice arm." she says to no one in particular, perhaps implying both students, with a slightly cracking voice.

...she'll have to remember not to try that catching trick again. Dropping the ball, she spares a moment to flex that hand a bit, holding back a hiss at the sting. Alright. Without much further ado, she regards Shingo with an upraised eyebrow, before somersaulting off to one side, hitting the ground in a roll. She would use that roll to travel to a point right in front of Shoma, and then explode out of that roll, lashing her foot out at his legs, hoping to trip the guy with a sudden sharp kick to the shins.

However, it's apparently not to be, as Chun-Li is too fast for the Slugger...

Chun-Li may be too fast for the Batman, aka Shoma, but that doesn't necessarily mean she'll be too quick for good old Shingo Yabuki. Knowing full well in the back of his mind what the next steps are, Shingo resolves himself to step things up a notch and begin to show everyone what the essence of Kusanagi-ryuu is. That however requires him to actually make a move. Watching Chun-Li's movements carefully, Shingo begins a mad-dash towards where he things she'll end up dodging towards, and leaping in the air, brings one of his legs up. As he descends towards where he thinks Chun-Li will be, he begins twisting slightly, arcing his leg in a deadly looking downward motion that seems squarely aimed at the shoulder his elbow didn't smack before. Should he connect, he'll be prepared to follow up. Should he miss...well...time will tell.

As the young Taiyo High student flies through the air towards the target, he cries out with passion, "SHINGOOOOOO KIIIICCKKKKUUUUUU!", his most trademark of calls, signalling for those not in the know that yes, Shingo is now doing a kick. Rejoice. Which is what some of the Taiyo High students do, cheering on the young man in the hopes that he won't look like a total idiot.

As soon as her kick connects, Chun-Li takes but a moment to compose herself, before rolling to one side, Shoma's hand finding nothing but air. The cry that Shingo calls out probably served to be his undoing, however. You see, Chun-Li was, at the very least, familiar with that particular move of Shingo's, so at the start of the cry, it took just a split second for Chun-Li to decide to flip up into a squat, before launching herself up into the air towards him.

Shingo's boot nonetheless strikes the gut of the Strongest Woman in the world, but she considered that a fair trade for a foot she lashes up towards Shingo's own guy, whirling around to deliver a straight kick to the center of his chest soon after. "YAAAAA!" she screams with the second kick, propelling Shingo up a touch, before he is allowed to freefall, Chun-Li herself landing in a crouch not too far away from him.

Shoma grab went wide, and Chun-Li is beating on Shingo decently. The Slugger hops back several feet, before stomping one leg on the stage in a very sumo manner.

The youth charges, going into a long slide towards the World Warrior.

"KILLER SLIDE!" No. We're not telegraphing by calling attack names at all. Are we, Shingo?

Telegraphing by calling out attack names? Heavens no. Just so happens that all youngsters like to name their attacks, and then call them out as they do them. It's an unwritten rule. You'd think that it would hinder their ability to do battle, but, ironically it works for some.

Still, Shingo only barely hears Shoma call his attack out, as he's senselessly beaten mid-air, totally unexpected, and sent back to the lovely stage below at high velocity, bouncing a few times before solidly landing. Gripping his gut, and rubbing the pain away, Shingo looks over at Chun-Li...and...well, still manages a big smile. Winking over at Shoma as he does so, hoping that the simple wink will merely be taken as acknowledgement that the fight isn't over yet. Least not if Shingo has his way.

Observing Shoma as he slides towards Chun-Li, Shingo quickly whips out his notebook, flips through the pages as quickly as he can, and with a smirk finds the page he's looking for and replaces the book within his jacket. Stretching his legs, the youth sprints towards Chun-Li, aiming for her side, and attempting to time things to connect at the same time as Shoma's attack attempt - or as close as can be.

Closing the not so wide gap between himself and his target, Shingo quickly whips one of his elbows back, and aims it squarely for Chun-Li's mid-section, or even her gut where his shoe landed mid-kick. Should that connect, Shingo's other elbow will quickly follow towards the same target, and with a quick twist of the hip, Yabuki will launch his hip full force at Chun-Li much like a hip check with the intent of knocking her back, down, away...or just knocking her. Of course, should he miss, he'll merely look like a dancing goofball.

Landing in the crouch, Chun-Li quickly reorients herself into a squat of sorts, arms held to the sides, and knees bent and sticking out to both sides. She wasn't quite as familiar with Shoma's called out attack name, she feared, but 'Killer Slide' suggested a fair few things. And when she turned around, she barely had enough time to leap upwards, flipping forward over Shoma's slide to land lightly upon her feet. But oh, here comes Shingo right after. Sorry Shingo, you're going to have to look a bit goofy today.

The hip check doesn't quite make contact, as Chun-Li makes a long step forward to pull herself out of the way. She doesn't quite stop there, oh no. Whirling around on one foot, Chun-Li uses the time she believes he would take to compose himself from that goofy move, to wind up a kick, nearly spinning completely around to slam the back of her heel into his chest or side.

Shoma hops to his feet quickly, feeling a bit peeved as he brings the bat free. He growls, takes one big step in as he twists like a coil, the bat over his shoulder.

"Don't underestimate me! GRAND SLAM SMAAAAASH!"

Shoma swings for the bleachers, the massive bat a red blur. This would be a good move for Chun-Li to avoid if at all possible.

Alright, so not only has the ever popular Shingo Kick been thwarted, but the Nie Togi as well. Truly, Chun-Li is as much a master of the art of fighting as any warrior he's ever fought. With the exception of Oyaji Kusanagi. Or Kyo. Well, except for them. Still, Shingo makes the most of his goofy dance, waving to the Taiyo student crowd as he does so - the reaction being a mixture of laughter, cheering, and a few heckles that poor Shingo has heard once or twice before.

That aside, to the casual observer, it may seem as though Shingo is oblivious to the heel aimed at his chest...or side...in general at his torso. Then again, fighters are typically not oblivious, nor are they casual observers. Much like the first time Chun-Li attempted to strike Shingo, the boy reacts with a grin, hopping sideways as he brings one of his elbows rapidly down on the leg swinging towards him, with the hopes of knocking it downward, or away, or perhaps just catching the kung-fu master off balance enough to open her up for whatever Shoma has in store, and for what Shingo has in mind to follow up with.

Looking towards Shoma, Shingo can't help but flash a wide smile. "You know, she's fairly fast...still, we're doing well!" Shingo exclaims, bowing towards Chun-Li afterwards as a sign of respect mid-fight.

The elbow impact Chun in her mighty shin, and indeed, that drives her leg down towards the ground painfully, a little bit of a limp and a stagger following after she tries to put her weight down upon it. "...it's a good thing you two aren't real criminals." she says, leaping backwards to dodge out of the way of Shoma's assault. Landing lightly on her feet, (if still a touch tenderly upon her right,), Chun-Li dips into a bow while Shoma and Shingo were in the same general area, indicating both with the respectful gesture.

"Very well. I'm impressed!" she says, orienting herself towards Shoma now. Two bounding steps, the second one a slow and low forward flip that lasts... just until she stretches her legs out in midair splits, the particular way she had jumped already adding a bit of spin to her leap. This, of course, leaves her looking like a helicopters rotors, the Chinese woman crying out, "SPINNING BIRD KICK!"

Shoma sees the attack coming. Chun-Li called it, and that move is famous. Shoma braces for impact, allowing the kicks to smash into him, enflaming his spirit to...troublesome levels. I mean, really? There's no denying that this hurts...

...but so does gym class with Hayato.

The last kick forces the Slugger to get clear. He bounces and hops back several paces from the Super Cop.

He rubs under his nose with a grin, "Thanks! But we're not done yet!" he cries as he stomps the stage a second time. This impact splinters the floor boards. "Take this! HOMERUN SLIIIIIIIIDE!"

True to form, Shoma charges, and drops into a slide...except for that Shoma's tearing up the stage on his approach to Chun-Li in the process...

There are few things that impress Shingo that he hasn't had the pleasure of seeing first hand. Seeing the Spinning Bird Kick first hand ranks up there. Seeing Shoma ENDURE the Spinning Bird Kick and then reacting with his own impressive looking attack is another. Not waiting to see the aftermath of the reaction, Shingo charges towards Chun-Li, hoping beyond hope that maybe his and Shoma's luck will change for the better, and perhaps finally this co-ordinated attack will work.

As the Taiyo High student gains momentum, he pulls his right arm back all the way, tensing the muscles, and when within range of Chun-Li, pushing forth his fist with all his might towards her, pouring all of his strength into but a single punch. Nothing fancy. Nothing said. Just a mere punch.

The slide of Shoma's was coming in fast, far too fast. Not to mention all of the gasps rising from the crowd at the impressive attack Shoma was using. Chun-Li, not believing she can get out of the way in time, does the next best thing. Fall down to one knee, and brace herself. Not a moment after knee touches stage, does Shoma's foot touch Chun-Li's knee... and he stops there. But again, here comes Shingo. The slow, straightforward punch Chun-Li judges she can throw herself out of the way in time, and indeed she does, hitting the ground in a roll and moving a fair distance away, before she gathers herself up to her feet.

Shaky was her step, as both legs were sporting very wicked bruises by now, but you could not tell by Chun-Li's face. It was serene, it was calm, the woman shoving all distracting thoughts from her mind as she centers herself and focuses... and a spark of bluish light springs into being in her grasp. "Kiiiiiii..." she intones, taking a staggering step towards Shingo. If Shoma was in his right mind, he would get out of the general area, like... right now. Chun-Li snaps her chin up from her momentary meditation, and snaps her hand forward and out with a cry of "...KOUSHOU!" And it was then that she... explodes. The area all around her fills with a diffuse blue glow, cast by the sizable ball of similarly coloured, almost fiery energy that surrounds her. And Shingo too, if she had her druthers. The difference was... the energy wasn't hurting her.

Shingo whistles as he brings himself back to his feet. He didn't think Chun-Li would be able to stop that one. He scratches the back of his head, "Not bad!" he laughs. He scoops up pieces of stage that he just tore up, and starts flinging the bits at Chun-Li, aiming for vital points to wind her.

Oh bother.

Okay, so Shingo missed YET AGAIN. Fact of the matter is, as much as he was hoping to hit, he had accounted for missing. Had twisted his lower body in such a manner to react to overshooting his target. Was fully prepared to continue his assault.

What Shingo wasn't prepared for, was the large ball of blue crackling fiery energy unleashed by Chun-Li with him standing right next to her. Undaunted, Shingo grimaces slightly and pushes himself through the fiery energy as it crashes against him. Wave after wave of pain. But he suffers silently. He endures as it continues. Crouched slightly within the crackling energy dancing all around him, engulfing him, pain searing through his every muscle, his grimace becomes a grin as he tenses up his leg muscles, his one arm moving back ever so slightly.

"One good burn, deserves another..." Shingo mutters under his breath as he launches himself towards Chun-Li with ALL of his might, his fist extended at the last moment with a great deal of force behind it, aimed towards her mid-section. The attack, the form, is similar to one Kyo would use, however when Kyo attacks in such a manner his hand gives off the flames of the Kusanagi. To any onlookers this day, it would almost seem as though Shingo were replicating that, as remnants of Chun-Li's energy ball have clung to Shingo's gloves, wisping off as he makes his attack almost as though he were generating the blue flames himself. "Burning...." the youth starts, the blue energy reflecting and dancing within his eyes as it dances around his body and especially on his Kusanagi gloves, "SSSHHHIINNNNNNGOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!" Shingo exclaims as he continues the leap forward and attempts to land a devastating right hook punch into Chun-Li. Should that intital blow connect, it would be followed almost immediately by his other clenched fist aimed towards her abdomen. Then again by the original fist without pause. A flurry of Shingo's fists attacking Chun-Li in rapid succession for roughly five or so similar punches. That's not all. Still burning with rage, and Chun-Li's energy dancing off of his gloves, slowly burning out, the assault continues with yet another right hook, then a left hook, and then a shoulder tackle, finalized all by Shingo quickly hopping into the air and swinging both elbows at the one place he's been targeting - Chun-Li's mid-section.

Although, at no point in time are the flames actually Shingo's, and thusly should any of this connect or not, the flames would be fizzling out about mid-way through the flurry of punches...but all in all, the assault, whether it lands or not, leaves Shingo quite exhausted looking.

Chun-Li -really- wasn't expecting Shingo to be up and about after something like that. The sudden look of surprise that she displays ruins the serenity of her demeanor before... right before Shingo plows into her. The combination slams into her, blow after blow after blow wracking her body, and ending with that final slap to her midsection, sending her skidding. With all that knocking around she had been subjected to, Shoma's little piece of stage goes flying by, missing, sadly.

Chun-Li falls, falling flat upon her back and staying there, much to the collective gasp of the crowd watching. But soon enough, Chun-Li shakily rises to a squat, and then, up to her feet, her entire body quivering with pain. Giving her head a shake to clear it, she smiles brightly, but there is a sharp focus in her eyes as she lifts her gaze up towards Shingo. One step forward, not quite as fluid as she would have liked, but the next was far more fluid, and far more powerful, Chun-Li closing the distance between herself and the Taiyo lad, before leaping up into the air, whirling around... and then trying to grab Shingo by his jacket, flipping him up over her back, and over her shoulder, to slam into the ground below, Chun-Li following any motion like that, by sinking down to her knees.

Shoma slumps to one knee seeing the attack miss. He punches the stage once and tries to catch his breath. It's hard; his lungs feel like they are on fire, and Chun-Li is showing the crowd why she is a World Warrior...

COMBATSYS: Shoma drops his guard to recover.

Seems to be a lot of slumping or falling going around on the stage - Shingo being no stranger to it, as the exhaustion from his all out barrage on Chun-Li has left him, if but temporarily, exhausted. Battered and bruised from Chun-Li's massive attack on him, Shingo does his best and focussed intently on his opponent, pouring whatever he's got left into concentrating. Into figuring things out. Into...

Into seeing Chun-Li pull a similar stunt to what she started things off with. Looking up at Chun-Li as she grabs at his jacket, Shingo lets loose a toothy smile, and tries to at least raise a hand, an arm, anything so that he can react as he normally would...but the youth is far too exhausted, and as such goes with the natural flow.

Flying through the air with almost the greatest of ease, he flips over her back, over her shoulder, and is slammed into the ground. Does he move? Not for a very long set of moments. In fact, Shingo's motionless body almost seems dead for the long moment he lies still...

But the Taiyo High student still has some life left in his veins as he hops back on his feet, dusts himself off, reassumes his Kusanagi-style stance...and clutches at his mid-section. Smirking all the while. Regarding Chun-Li, he deeply nods before speaking. "Well done...more impressive than I imagined, Ms. Chun-Li...but the battle is far from over, so don't think it's time to hold back!"

Chun-Li releases a long sort of breath, and then takes a moment longer to compose herself, her eyes going across the auditorium towards Shoma. "Take a moment, catch your breath, and we'll start again." she manages to say, taking another few moments to pant. Closing her eyes, and rolling her neck, Chun-Li draws herself up to a shaky stand, assuming the stance of before.

"You both have such promise. Stay in school, study hard, and fight hard, and you'll both go far!" With that last sound, Chun-Li pushes up off of the ground, flipping forward towards Shingo... high over his head, in fact. Although, at the very apex of the flip, above the Taiyo student's head, Chun slams her foot downwards, hoping to strike Shingo upon the back of his head with her heel.

Shoma dashes forward, interposing himself between Chun-Li and the battered Shingo. He tries to get the bat between the kicking leg and himself, but is a moment too slow. He crumples under the impact on his shoulder, yelling out in pain.

"Damn...looks like I have a long way to go..." Shoma chuckles tiredly as he adjusts the grip on his bat once more. "But I won't give up!" The bat streaks in at Chun-Li's midsection. After all, if at first you don't succeed...

Expecting the worst, Shingo merely watches the entire events unfold in almost a slow motion, his destruction almost assured he still braced himself for impact...when all of a sudden from out of almost nowhere, his fighting partner rushed in and took the blow for him!

Seemingly struggling to remain on his feet, Shingo turns towards Shoma after the attack, and smiling, nods with a great passion, his voice reflecting those feelings. "Thank you very much Sawamura-san. I won't let your assistance go to waste, for I Shingo Yabuki, greatest student of Kyo Kusanagi, REFUSE to give up just yet!" With a renewed resolve, Shingo's gaze falls back towards Chun-Li, and yet he can't help be cheerfully smile. Figuring that this whole co-ordination of attacks HAS to work eventually, Shingo notes Shoma's attack action, the angle of the bat, every minute detail he can cram into his brain, and calculating trajectories, charges towards Chun-Li and leaps high into the air.

The last time he did this, he was kicked in the mid-section and tossed to the ground. If luck is on his side, this time will be completely different. "SHINGOOOOOO KICKUUUUUU!" Shingo screams with strain, the pain of the fight beginning to wear on him, but regardless he presses forward, his leap turning to descent towards his foe, his leg twisting and turning in the air with the intent for heel to land as squarely on Chun-Li's collarbone as he can. Mind you, if he misses...

Shingo would rather not think about what'll happen if he misses.

It was difficult to move. Every step she took felt like there was fire running through her legs. The students attending were certainly getting a show and a half, all from the simple question. The two attacks leveled at her were slow, painfully so, and Chun-Li guessed, whether right or wrong it may be, that they were just as tired as she was. And Chun-Li always prided herself on being able to push through difficulty and hardship.

Moving fast, very fast, Chun-Li ducks downwards and jerks to one side, Shoma's bat striking air. Another duck, but this one coupled with a forward roll, takes Chun traveling beneath Shingo's self-named kick, Chun-Li gathering herself up into a stand right after, and whirling around towards... Shingo. Without much fuss, or ado, she whips her foot up, trying to catch Shingo in the gut with a quick, snapping kick that seems vaguely reminiscent of a jab.

Shoma growls; again she's going after Shingo! He steps in after Chun-Li, attempting to jam the end of his bat into her midsection.

If he misses, he misses. If he hits, he picks Chun-Li up on the end of his bat, and spins once....spins twice...and then with a sweep of the bat, sends Chun-Li for the waters that serve as the backdrop of the Taiyo Auditorium...

Of course, there is the chance he'll miss still.

And like a feeble kitten swatting away the playful hands of their owner, Shingo feebly waves an arm or two at Chun-Li's rapidly incoming leg. And much like the feeble kitten, Shingo is unable to resist the full effects of the blow, knocking him squarely on his backside which results in him doubling over - his breathing now a deep controlled breath.

One moment passes into another. Deep breath in. Deep breath out. Deep breath in. Deep breath out. For all intents and purposes, Shingo seems to have been defeated by the power of Chun-Li's incredibly strong leg connecting with his gut. However, Shoma is still fighting. Still showing fighting spirit. Still proving that this fight isn't over. This combined with Shingo's inherent unwillingness to concede to defeat causes the young man to compose himself. To collect himself. To rise back onto his feet, dusting himself off, and resuming his fighting stance with much gusto!

Covering his mouth while letting out a small cough, he grins as he looks over at Chun-Li, gaze not moving from his opponent now. "Hope you didn't think that was it for Shingo Yabuki. While you're a great fighter, Ms. Chun-Li, I learned my technique from the best...and I WON'T give up so easily...so hopefully you're ready to see how a student of the Kusanagi-ryuu

Chun-Li manages a wry smile, nodding her head to both fighters. The nod of the head in Shoma's direction, Chun-Li notices the swing, and leaps to the side, out of the way, to make it a miss. "This must be frustrating for you both. But... you both hit really very hard. All it will take is one more to set me down, I feel. The question is... will you get that one before I get my two..." she says, a blue light forming in her hands.

Standing up straight, she holds both palms open in front of herself, and brings the blue light in front of her chest, her eyes closes as she forces calm into herself. Suddenly, the blue light blazes into a almost angry flame, and Chun-Li's eyes snap open. "KiKOUUUUU..." she intones, leaping a half step forward, and thrusting her hands, linked at the wrists, towards Shoma. "KEEEEEN!"

Shoma sees something vaguely ball-shaped heading his way. Much like his fight with Vega, reflex kicks in, and the bat whips around one more time.

He swings...too high, and the Kikouken slams Shoma into the crowd, scorch marks showing on his uniform. The crowd catches him, cheering loudly, but he's not really moving.

His gaze unfaltering, Shingo merely watches, partly in horror, as Chun-Li decides not to attack him, but to attack Shoma...and in doing so with her incredible abilities, ends up literally knocking his fighting partner off the stage. Shingo doesn't allow himself time for a distraction though, and merely focusses inwards, cultivating all the energy he can muster.

If he stands ANY chance of surviving this encounter, he's got to play things smart, not necessarily safe. He's got to rely on experience. He's got to rely on...THE NOTEBOOK! Quickly ruffling through his jacket, he produces the notebook, and deftly opens the notebook, adding new notes from this battle before flipping to previous battles. Previous experiences, either witnessed first hand, or encountered, or even merely watched on television. A plethora of notes taken while Kyo has taught him. All of his fighting knowledge contained in but a small bound book with far too much writing.

Closing his eyes and taking a deep breath, Shingo holds the notebook to his chest as he mumbles a few words to himself. He won't let Kyo down. He's gotta do this. He's gotta prove himself to Kyo. Shingo Yabuki will perservere!

Chun-Li twists to watch Shoma's flight off of the stage, a flutter rumbling in her heart as she is afraid she overdid things just a touch. But Shoma was a fighter. And together with Shingo, did a heck of a job against her so far. Turning towards Shingo, a smile plays upon Chun-Li's lips as she nods her head towards the fighter, straightening up and putting a fist to her chest, covered with an open palm.

That stance dissolves into one with her right foot forward, and both hands, held with palms rigid, raised to face Shingo. All in all, however, her demeanor was relaxed, and she was focusing on catching her breath. "Are you all ready, Shingo?" she asks.

Taking yet another deep breath, Shingo grins as he nods towards Chun-Li, his voice ever so cheery. "I'm quite ready, Ms. Chun-Li, though I do warn you, I'm going all out here. All or nothing. Going for broke. While you may have defeated Shoma, I intend to avenge his loss and thensome. So Ms. Chun-Li, if you're sure you're all ready, then it's time to finish this!"

Dropping down into a runner's crouch, the youth looks up at Chun-Li yet again, and then makes for a full blown sprint towards her. "Let's go...Shingo! DRRRIIIIVVINNGGGGGG PPHHHHOOOOOEEEENIXXXXXX BURRRRRRNEERRRRRRR!!!" Yabuki shouts with renewed vigor as he charges towards Chun-Li. The distance closed, the Taiyo student angles his shoulder directly towards Chun-Li in a seeming shoulder tackle or slam, and pours everything he's got into what he hopes will finish the fight off. Should he miss, it'll be because he went wide, and in which case, Shingo will stumble slightly, exhaustion wearing deeply into his muscles.

Either way, the crowd is a mix of cheering and booing...for a variety of reasons. Either way, this match has gotten them riled up!

The way that the youth responded pleases Chun-Li, and she reflects that in the brilliant smile she flashes towards him. "I won't hold a single thing back, then." she affirms, focus entering her expression, sharpening her features and hardening them somewhat. She proves that she wasn't, as well. There was a bit more spring to her step as she nimbly bounces towards one side, avoiding the shoulder tackle with a fluid grace.

Drawing a deep breath, she lunges forward and releases it in a cry that seems to shake the building, lashing her foot up to strike Shingo in the thigh, gut, and chest, over and over again, her feet moving rapidly, very very rapidly as she releases her patented 'lightning kicks'. "YAYAYAYAYAYA!"

Still stumbling from his failed attack, Shingo spins around wildly as Chun-Li lunges at him, her feet moving rapidly to strike him in various locations. At first, he steels his resolve and attempts to push the attacks away, sometimes with his elbows, sometimes with his hands...but a mixture of their speed and his exhaustion end up being his undoing, as more attacks land on his fragile and overly fatigued body, than those shooed away.

Thusly, the not-so-mighty Shingo Yabuki is kicked backwardsby the sheer force of the lightning kicks, falling almost gracefully onto the stage, flat on his back. Oh, Shingo still lives, breathing heavily, but his arms quickly move to cover his now MUCHLY aching torso. He gave it his all, but it wasn't enough. Then again, he was going up against someone WAY out of his league...so it was to be expected. Still, the pain lingers greatly upon Shingo's muscles and bones...

Oddly, the boy still smiles. Jovially in fact. Sitting up, and propping himself up on an elbow, Shingo coughs for a few moments, before looking over at Chun-Li and bowing his head very deeply as a great sign of respect. Clearly he's beyond the point of exhaustion and could collapse any moment, but he's not about to pass out from the battle without a few final words. "Ms. Chun-Li? Thank you very much for the battle. It was an honour to see your technique first hand, and I speak on behalf of Taiyo High by saying that you've truly shown us your might, and we appreciate that. Again, thank you--" with something sounding vaguely like a sigh and then a thud, Shingo falls back to the ground mid-sentence, and straining himself, raising an arm into a thumbs-up gesture, before that too flops down, too tired to even continue.

And Chun-Li draws her foot down from her multiple kicks, standing straight and tall upon the stage. Folding her hands in front of herself, she bows deeply towards Shingo, and then turns, to bow towards the cheering and booing crowd. "Excellent job, both of you." she says, straightening, and then searching around to find the microphone.

Tucking a strand of hair that got free of her bun during the scuffle behind her ear, she finds the microphone, and clicks it back on. The crowd falls into silence very quickly, likely curious as to what Chun-Li has to say. "...any more questions?"

COMBATSYS: Chun-Li has ended the fight here.
