SNF 2007.06 - Scrappers! Marco/Makoto v Kain

Description: Kain faces off against the team of Makoto and Marco atop the Eder Dam in Germany. At first it seems that Kain's power is going to overwhelm the other two fighters, but then they show what good teamwork can do. Also, Marco demonstrates that he is a True Man. (Draw Match)

The Eder Dam in Germany is tall and rather imposing, especially when you are standing on the (admittedly wide) walkway on the top of it.

That's where Makoto is. She's ready for the fight that's been scheduled up here, or at least as ready as she can be; she's not familiar with Kain, and the billing, mentioning that she can't really use her strong points against him, is kind of worrisome.

Makoto is wasting the last couple minutes before the match looking over the edge of the dam, like a tourist. Which she is. Her scarf flutters in the breeze occasionally.

Marco has been busy however. Busy spreading the legend of KYOKUGEN MIGHT!

While Kain is being tardy, Marco has been hurriedly erecting signs and posters displaying the godly prowess of the legends of Kyokugen. A giant banner featuring Takuma superimposed over the Kyokugen sign flails epically in the wind. Posters of Ryo and Robert are all the rage, as Marco walks through the crowd selling them for a cheap fare of $9.99 (All for the legendary glory of the Kyokugen Dojo).

"See now, for this is Master Robert, the legendary shooting star of Kyokugen. Feast upon his mighty glory and understand that Kyokugen is the way to greatness!" Marco booms with posters of Robert and Ryo under each arm and glittering eyes of manly-not-quite-tears.

Kain has been to Germany more than a few times, so he's not really interested in playing the tourist today. The dam is impressive and all, but he's far more interested in the fight which is to come. Striding out onto the walkway above the dam, Kain casually walks over to the spot reserved for the fight, the thumb of his left hand tucked loosely into his pocket.
Heinlein gives Makoto and Marco a brief look, but he keeps his opinion to himself. He also keeps quiet on any comments he might have on all the Kyokugen paraphernalia, though there is a brief hint of distaste in his eyes as he observes the gaudy display. Holding out his right hand, Kain doesn't even bother to look as he summons up a purple flame, which flickers and dances in his palm. "Shall we get started?"

Makoto thought, briefly, that this is why Kyokugen has students and Rindoukan does not. Now she wants a stand and posters.

She changed her mind pretty quickly, though. That's just showmanship! Rindoukan does not need showmanship! It needs to demonstrate its effectiveness at combat, and its superiority and punching through anything in its path.

'Anything in its path' includes Kain, who is calling them for a fight. Makoto stops leaning over the railing and heads back toward the center of the walkway, balling her hand into a fist as she does. "I'm always ready!" she announces.

Marco extends his poster carrying hands now, and an evil wind blows as Kain walks in onto the scene causing the heroically smiling faces of Robert and Ryo to distort from :) to :( as they flap about. Marco packs the posters inside his gi to keep his masters KYOKUGEN MIGHT (which is greater than his) close to his heart and leaps off the stage.

He gives a quick look to Makoto as he takes up his fighting stance. This is his assigned ally. He nods approvingly, she looks mighty indeed! Marco's fists clench tightly as his stance widens and he extends the fingers of his forward hand.

"Let's go!"

Kain's head gets knocked to the side as Marco's fist collides with his jaw, but it appears it's going to take a bit more than that to really rattle him. He barely even shows signs of being hit when he turns back to face his opponents. "Hmm..." Clenching his fist, Kain snuffs out the flame that was flickering there, then suddenly takes a step back from Marco.
He's not retreating, of course... He just needs room. Heinlein leaps forward, extending his right leg toward Marco's chest. Purple flames wash over Kain's leg as he attempts to drive a flying kick into the Kyokugen fighter, followed by an explosive blast of flaming chi. Heinlein doesn't forget about Makoto, though... He's had too many fights where he's managed to slip up by focusing too much on one of his opponents.

COMBATSYS: Marco fails to counter Schwarzer Stob from Kain with Joudan Harai.

Makoto hangs back at first. It isn't that she's afraid; she isn't. She just needs a moment to focus, to get a handle on things; the fact that Kain is waving flame around like it was nothing is enough to make her think twice about just rushing in.

But only twice, and the second thought is small. Makoto charges a moment later, toward Kain's side, and leaps a step or two before she'd hit. She arcs upward, then downward, angling to strike the back of Kain's neck with her heel and all her force. "Haa!"

Marco does not know the Legend of the great dark Kain R. Heinlein. So when Kain comes forward to strike him down with great (dark) fiery vengeance, Marco does the only thing that makes sense to him at the time. He drops his shoulder, charges forward and tries to uppercut Kain out of the air.

Things, however, do not go according to plan. Kain's boot connects with Marco's face. Solidly. Smashing the Kyokugen Warrior backward into a wall. Ow.

COMBATSYS: Kain blocks Makoto's Tsurugi.

Kain easily kicks off of Marco after his feet connect, landing gracefully back on the ground. With the Kyokugen fighter momentarily indisposed, that leaves Makoto to deal with. He watches the girl carefully as she charges in, then begins to move once she leaps up into the air. His right arm sweeps up, intercepting her foot as it lashes out. He felt that impact, though. He's going to have to be at least somewhat careful here.
But then, Kain's /best/ defense has always been a strong defense. While Makoto is coming back down from her leap, Kain is already spinning around, right leg shooting sharply upwards. Flame once more engulfs the limb as he attempts to drive the kick up and into Makoto, launching her right back up into the air.

COMBATSYS: Makoto dodges Kain's Schwarze Lanze.

Makoto knows one thing more than anything else right now: she does not want to be hit with that.

Makoto lands somewhat awkwardly; the block meant that she didn't hit where she expected to, and thus the distance and angle to the ground was different. She recovers well, though, and actually manages to turn it into a hop backwards, causing the flaming leg to miss her.

She rushes right back in a moment later, delivering a straight punch with her left hand and a good deal of force behind it. This time Makoto doesn't yell; she grunts instead with the force of her strike.

Marco mutters to himself as he gets up from his wall bound position, that Kain guy packs an absolute whallop! He turns to watch his partner engaged in an epic battle with his Enemy, and hrms to himself very carefully. Kain has his back turned and is on the defensive against the Mighty Warrior Woman.

"OOOORRIIIYAAAA!" Marco cries out, raging with his fighting spirit as he launches himself forward in a flying kick aimed directly at Kain's back.

Kain quickly brings his foot back down after his attack misses, and for good reason. Trying to hop about on one leg is no way to win a fight. Not if you want to avoid getting a hit a lot. A quick step is all it takes for Kain to swing out of the way of Makoto's punch, but it's not enough to get him out of the line of Marco's incoming kick. He swings up an arm in attempt to deflect the blow, but the movement just serves to let Marco strike him in the chest rather than the back, sending Heinlein stumbling backwards a few steps.
It only takes a moment for Kain to recover, and then he's lunging back at Marco. He reaches out with one hand, attempting to grab the Kyokugener by the face. Let's teach him to try to kick Kain in the back, shall we? He shoves back and down, attempting to topple Marco backwards. He doesn't move to drive him all the way to the ground, though. He lets a blast of raw blue chi energy which explodes from his palm provide the extra momentum.

Makoto's mighty swing was a failure. This requires thought.

Makoto steps back this time - and, for the first time, stays there. Kain is going after Marco? Let him; Makoto is no stranger to working together, but she wants Rindoukan to look better than Kyokugen in any case, and it gives her a moment to focus her strength. She plants her feet, breathing in and letting it out slowly, hands near her navel, as she focuses her inner strength in the proper manner.

COMBATSYS: Makoto gathers her will.

After Marco rescue's Makoto from a dark, dark fate at the hands of the Scourge of Carpathia (and the sorrow of Maldavia) by striking him in the back with his foot, Marco lands on both feet solidly coming back into his fighting stance, Marco's feet shift and he clenches his fist loudly creaking tendons.

"Hah! Feel the might of the Kyokugen style!" Marco boasts loudly. But then when its time for Kain, the man who kicked him in the face so hard he went flying, Marco balks. For just a second. How could he, a Student of Takuma, allow a rival fighting style to appear superior? IT CANNOT COME TO PASS!

"Now see," Marco cries out bringing his fists down to his side as he prepares something epic! "THE LEGEND OF THE KYOKUGEN!"

He brings his arms over his body and has no intention of taking that hit.

COMBATSYS: Kain successfully hits Marco with Medium Throw.

Marco tumbles backward as Kain shoves him backwards, losing his balance he URKS until he looks up as a palm full of chi comes a blasting his way, sending him sprawling to the ground.

This is not Marco's day. At all.

Marco being that this is not exactly Marco's best day, he takes this opportunity to reflect upon his poor decision making these last few minutes and composes himself.

COMBATSYS: Marco gains composure.

This is turning out to be a fairly effective strategy. It's difficult for opponents to successfully gang up on you if you keep knocking them far enough away. And it would be in Kain's best interest to /keep/ the two of them away from him. Even he has openings in his defenses that can be exploited.
Defeating Kain from a distance, however, is difficult. With Marco momentarily taken care of, Heinlein turns his attention back toward Makoto. Once more he summons up a flame in his hand, this one growing and swirling into a fiery sphere. All it takes is a simple flick of his wrist for Kain to send the fireball streaking toward Makoto. And then it takes only a thought to have it explode just moments before impact, erupting into a larger inferno.

COMBATSYS: Kain successfully hits Makoto with Schwarze Flame.

Makoto, focused as she is, cannot really just abort and start running away from the fireball, no matter how much she'd like to. Fireballs hurt! Especially when they explode at the same time you bring your arms up to block it.

Makoto comes out of the blast of flame running forward, at Kain, although from slightly further back than she started. Her everything hurts, but at least nothing ignited. She runs straight at him, tries to grab - and if she manages it, throw him straight down, following it up with a downward punch right toward his gut.

She is trailing smoke while she does this, so it's rather obvious where she's coming from.

Marco takes this grand opportunity to rest quite thankfully, seeing as Makoto go for the containing strike by throwing Kain on the ground, Marco sees the perfect chance to combine their MIGHT to topple this great foe!

"AAAARRRRGGH!" Marco cries out as he leaps up into the air (hopefully) giving Makoto time to do her mojo before landing to also add his flying fist into the end of Makoto's strike!

"Eat this!"

COMBATSYS: Kain blocks Makoto's Araiso.

Makoto manages to grab Kain, but unfortunately for her he has no plans of getting thrown down right at this moment. He manages to yank back out of her grasp, then knock her punch aside with a sweep from her elbow. The twist of his body to block that blow also serves as opportunity to swing his leg up for the other incoming attack.
As Marco comes roaring down of the sky, Kain's foot races up to meet him. Blue chi surrounds Kain's foot as he drives it into Marco's chest, but it's not quite enough to completely overcome momentum, allowing Marco's fist to connect with Kain, though robbed of much of its striking power.

With the new proximity, Makoto is at the advantage (she hopes). She steps back, giving herself running room and Marco his opportunity to get kicked, and then moves forward with a solid strike toward his gut.

"Haaa!" Makoto yells, as she follows it up with a flurry of blows. Her arms actually blur, she punches at Kain so quickly, but they still have a surprising amount of her trademark strength behind them despite the speed. Then there's a delay while she gathers her strength...

...all into one last punch, angled upward, toward Kain's chest. If it strikes, it's liable to launch him quite a distance. Such is the power of the last art of Rindoukan: "SEICHUUSEN GODANZUKI!"

Marco is falling down to bring his MIGHTY FIST down upon the fallen Kain, falling with great justice and might! He arrrrghhs as the wind ripples across his form as he continues to build speed for the force of his mighty blow but then! A flaming blue chi boot snaps up and slams into Marco's chest. He ooofs! And flies backwards, before spinning midair and landing in a crouch.

As Makoto unleashes her MASSIVE PUNCH, Marco is /inspired/ by her creativeness and he darts forward before UNLEASHING with an epic combo hoping to catch Kain as he comes flying away, and catch him in a storm of charging fists that end with a...

"KOHOU!" as he launches into the air, fist first.

In theory, Makoto's punch could send Kain flying for quite a distance. It certainly knocks the wind out of him as he's lifted up and off his feet. Nobody gets to see just how far Kain could go, though, because he gets sent flying right into Marco's flurry of punches. And then he gets sent flying back again by Marco's finally blow. Even Kain can't stand up to an assault like that, and he's look pretty battered as he flies through the air over Makoto's head.
But battered is definitely not the same thing as unconcious. As Kain flies over Makoto's head, he gathers a sphere of golden chi in the palm of his hand. It rapidly expands in size as he thrusts his hand down toward Makoto, launching it at her. Not that it really has far to go. By the time it reaches full size, the orb of chi occupies pretty much the entire space between Kain's hand and the ground, completely engulfing Makoto in a roiling torrent of raw chi energy if she fails to get out of the way.

Makoto, perhaps predictably, fails to get out of the way.

Her eyes widen, and that's all she has time for before she vanishes in the raging torrent of flaming chi, hidden from view. From somewhere in the blast, the sound of Makoto yelling is heard - not in pain, but more in anger and determination.

Even before the flame vanishes, she's back; the punch she starts with is just as strong as last time, although the follow-up flurry is a little slower. THe last hit, however - if anything, the last hit is even fiercer as Makoto puts every iota of her remaining strength behind it.

Too much. By the time she is fully visible again, the chi maelstrom having vanished, she's face-down on the ground and not getting up. Makoto rolls over after a moment, and out of the way of people's big feet, but that's all she can manage to do.

Marco spins midair as he flies around and lands, after the end of his epic success.

"See now? That's KYOKUGEN MIGHT!" Marco booms as he sends Kain up up and awaaaaaay!

But then, disaster strikes. Marco is not a man prone to fear, or to pause in a fight. But what Marco sees now is positively insane! An explosion of chi blast forth to utterly annihilate Makoto in a blaze of chi flames.

The dark wind blows, and Marco's gi blows open revealing the smiling faces of Ryo and Robert! Marco takes heart and charges into the darkness clenching his fist bravely as he charges at Kain.

"ORAORAORAORAORAORAORAORAORAORAORAORA!" Marco booms as he finally throws himself upward in another Kohou!

This seems very familiar. Once more Kain finds himself being launched skyward by Makoto, only to be intercepted before he can crash into something by Marco. The assault from Marco this time is a little less fierce, but that's small comfort. Kain is already quite battered, and he's just lucky he hasn't been tossed around enough to get sent sailing off over the edge of the dam.
As he sails away from Marco, Kain still has enough fight left in him to hold out his hand, another spark of golden light appearing in his palm. This time it's not followed by a growing sphere of chi, however. Odd. At least, until one looks up above Marco's head and sees the growing maelstrom of blue energy swirling violently up there. There's little time to gawk, however, as that storm of chi suddenly slams downwards, three massive waves of pure energy slamming anything beneath them into the concrete surface of the dam.

Marco strikes with his final ultimate blow, his true essence of KYOKUGEN MIGHT! Landing again following a Kohou, Marco huffs and puffs pained and tired. Marco is MIGHTY but he is tired after cannoning himself upon Kain, his body is pained by this continued pummeling by Heinlein.

Then! Kain unleashes his final strike! Blazing stars appear in the sky and with horrendous power blaze downward towards Marco who can only seemingly stand there.

OR DOES HE?

Marco inhales deeply and bears his arms on either side of him and just as the chi meteors crash into him, Marco's gi just EXPLODES as he cries.

"KYOKUGEN MIGHT!"

The entire world explodes around Marco. There is light, and pain, but more importantly. There is focus and love. The images of Ryo and Robert are incinerated as Marco is enveloped by the chi but the LOVE OVERCOMES ALL!

In the end, Marco is left standing and smoking as he trembles wearing only his pants. His muscles BULGE and quiver.

Is Marco...dead? He's not...moving...but then.

"ORA ORA ORA ORA ORA!" Marco cries out, before falling to his knees. Man that hurt.

COMBATSYS: Marco takes no action.
