What in the blue hell. Tessa is still pretty unfamiliar with the uh... 'creativity' of Geese Howard and his promotional staff. Really, she never would have guessed she'd be asked to fight in a hockey rink, on ice. Good job surprising her, guys.
However, there are several more surprises yet, one of which the Roman came prepared for, by bringing her own pair of skates. It turns out that SNF isn't providing them, and there's not a spare set in the place. What they *have* provided are plenty of hockey sticks and pucks, which are set off to the edge of the ice itself. And it's a sizable rink, too. With high plexiglass walls to check people into. We're not talking half wall, half see-through stuff, either. It's *all* transluscent, so that the crowd and see an entire person getting flattened against it. And there is of course, a very sizable crowd here to enjoy such views.
For her part, Tessa is already out on the ice, with her hand on one of the goals which was left out for obvious reasons, waiting on her opponents and with her shield still strapped to her back. The young woman is still in her usual dress, and no jacket. She's going to try to tough out the cold, so nobody back and the castle can call her weak over it.

What an odd place to have a fight... well, then again, given the way hockey players fight, perhaps not. Mizuki borrowed skates for this; rented, really. She hopes they don't end up getting broken... as she thinks about it, stepping onto the ice, she realizes she's not going to be doing much kicking, what with the blades on her feet... at least, not much kicking for vulnerable areas.
Once on the ice, she skates a few laps, to get used to the feel of it; wielding her baton, she practices a few moving slashes and thrusts, to get used to it. Right... it's not ideal, but it will do. As she's announced as one of the SNF participants, Mizuki smiles and waves at the crowd; still a relative newcomer, she hasn't met Tessa or Gabriel yet, but she has fought Katelynn before... so she gets a friendly wave, whenever the opportunity arises.
Mizuki skates up to the goal that Tessa's at, resting her hand on the opposite side. The cold? Doesn't bother her so much, partly due to her control of ice and water chi.

Ever heard the saying, "I went to the fight and a hockey game broke out!" Well, in this case, there's no hockey game going on here, but there is going to be a four-way melee on the ice in a few moments, thanks to the creativity of Geese Howard. Who in their right mind would want a fight like this?
Nonetheless, Katelynn is out on the ice, dressed in a warm jacket and pants, along with earmuffs and gloves, skating around in a brief warmup to get her blood going. She's done ice skating in the past, it's just she's never had to fight on skates. So this should be very interesting.
She gives a wave to Mizuki as well, smiling a little, before skating over to the goal where the women have gathered. She rolls her neck around a little, remembering how she can use her mind to help her keep her balance while skating. Seems Karate is good for more than just self-defense!
Ever heard, odd saying, creativity of Geese Howard? It was the remix of the impression a great deal of other people seemed to have of this fight. Everyone but it seems one. Of all the high spirited people in good moods, there was one who was not in good spirits, or good mood, or at least never showed it. Kai Gabriel. She was dressed in her dark silk jacket, Chinese style, dragon embroidered and looking entirely out of place on the rink. It was just not skating attire and if that wasn't enough, she had no skates.
Someone had offered her skates to which in her usual stone like manner she replied that it would be undignified to wear second hand or rental foot ware, furthermore she felt skating was undignified in this setting. And then she had to comment that combat for the sake of entertaining was also undignified. So what was she doing here? She didn't say.
Now then, on the ice as she stands, she is the only one without skates, she doesn't even have the proper foot ware not to have skates, she's just.. sort of standing there, looking as though one step could send her slipping and sliding. She'll have to do something about that at some point. But for now her green eyes merely narrow to take note of the other people around her, her posture otherwise even boring in the way it remains simply rigid.

Well then, it seemed there was going to be a fight, was there an announcer? Rules? Gabriel didn't see to care, instead she decided now was as good a time as any to commence. So she commences. . . . A moment later when she still hasn't moved it seems obvious that she does not wish to be undignified and slip and fall on her behind, instead she draws her attention to the ice. It's slippery. She needs to do something about that. . . . Consideration. So she draws her sword forth and shoves it into the ice and places a hand on it, using it to keep herself somewhat stable. Somewhat. Moving, now that would be another issue, her face even shows the faintest of uncertain touches as she tests the ice with one foot. Yep. Slippery.

So this is how the fight begins, huh? No hockey sticks or goalie masks or anything like that? Not even a roaring crowd to pump things up? Oh well, you gotta do what you gotta do. So Katelynn simply skates away a little and builds up some speed and momentum to get herself going and prepared for the fight, since things will be going really quick in a few moments.

Gabriel isn't wearing skates, huh... well, that's interesting. Katelynn starts skating away... and Mizuki, musing, turns to pursue, as it were. Only, she too has to get skating up to speed; so she's spend some time at that as well, with a smile and a nod to Tessa. This is definitely going to be an interesting battle... although she's not terribly sure how useful learning to fight on skates will be... you never know what's going to happen in your life, so it's best to be prepared, hey?
"Good luck!" calls Mizuki, towards Tessa, as she skates to try and catch up to Katelynn. And to her is called a pleasant "Nice to meet you again!"

Well, that didn't take long at least. Everybody was pretty punctual, and everybody seemed to be able to keep themselves upright on the freshly-leveled ice. Even the one without skates. And the announcer was surprisingly quick on the draw too. Just kind of, raising his hand and then lowering it to signal the start of the match.
Tessa takes a glance over toward Mizuki at first, being that she's the closest, just on the opposite side of the goal she's using to steady herself. But she sees no immediate reason to go chasing after the miko as she starts to skate away, while wishing her luck. She'd rather try and find out what's up with Gabriel over there, what with her wearing something silk and Chinese, a lot like her own dress, and brandishing a sword, and choosing not to wear skates for whatever reason.
It should go without saying that seeing a sword drawn immediately makes Tessa want to unshoulder her shield and place it out in front of her. And since she needs to push off of the goalpost to get herself moving and cover some distance, why not just turn it into an attack? It's questionable whether she'll be able to stop herself from just smacking into the stationary girl anyway. Or, her stuck-in-the-ice blade. Whichever.

The thing is, Gabriel didn't have footing, so she figured to try and use Tessa's as she approached. She saw the skating girl, lets out a "Mphh," and then lets go of her sword to jump. . Lets go of her sword, loses all footing, and ends up totally nailed by the attack. There was positively no saving herself from that as she ends up send checking into the side of the of the rink. She never ever play or watched hockey, but now on she would have a vague idea what a check was, only, well not.
Gabriel and Tessa have gotten things started, and so Katelynn decides that it's time to get things started. She wishes she had a hockey stick or something, but for now her fists will have to suffice.
Katelynn skates towards Mizuki, the 'skrish-skrish-skrish' sound of her skates going faster and faster as she builds up speed and attempts to deliver a quick punch as she passes by.

Hnn. Mizuki, momentarily, has the speed disadvantage; though she tries to swipe at Katelynn with her baton, as the karateka passes by, the unfamiliarity with relative speeds leaves Mizuki taking a clean hit. Not much--not enough even to knock her down--but something she'll have to deal with for sure... she might not be trying that again, that's for sure.
Mizuki shakes her head out and keeps skating, having lost her footing momentarily... but otherwise, she's alright, still.
Tess doesn't quite know what Gabriel was trying to do there, but it's pretty obvious her lack of skates it what caused it to go badly. As for herself, well, she kind of goes bouncing off of the slightly-younger woman when they hit the wall, and is made to slide back a good couple of feet before she turns the blades of her skates to stop the residual momentum. This puts her not too far from where Gabe left her sword, and being that it's a pointy object and she'd like to get cut as little as possible she deems it best to keep the pressure on and try to keep the blonde away from it for as long as she can. Had Gabriel worn ice skates, she might not care as much, since she could just cut her with something else which Tessa couldn't really deny her access to like she can this.
But yeah, the Strolheim elite isn't going to be a hypocrite and try to cut Gabriel with her own skate blades by kicking her. She's just gonna try to uppercut her under the chin with her shield and keep her up against the wall if she can. "You sure you can fight like that?"

This time Gabriel doesn't do anything fancy, she just lets herself get pushed some up against the wall and held there for a moment. It was now clear who her opponent was going to be. She narrows her eyes some before giving a slight dip to her head.
"I am no concern of yours," Actually she was impressed by Tessa and it shows in her expression which softens from the usual hard indifference, but not much, she still looked fairly cold,
"I would enquire your name," she starts and then uses the wall to try and grab Tessa and just hold on for dear life as she slips and slides.
A good start for Katelynn, as her punch ends up hitting its mark well, thanks to the speed of the punch and the skater. Katelynn smirks wryly and spins around on her skates, building some more speed up again. This time, as she heads at Mizuki, she decides to increase the strength of her punch a little to see if speed really does make a difference.

So different from the last time they fought... Mizuki is struck squarely, again, and this time she -does- tumble to the ice. But only momentarily; she gets back to her skates and simply looks more determined, increasing her own speed as she catches up to Katelynn... and drops low, seeking to slide past the karateka and sweep her feet out from under her with a low-targeted slash of the baton, her momentum less than she would like, but still serviceable.

The tan, dark-haired shield-maiden gives a little shrug of her shoulders after drawing back both fist and shield. "If you say so. I'm just trying not to be unsportsmanlike. But I'll gladly change the subject. I'm Tessa, Tessa Gallo. And you're... Gabriel, right?"
There's little time to say much else, of course, since Gabriel starts trying to latch onto her. And though it might seem a little bit mean, or paranoid for that matter, this *is* a fight, and she thinks Gabriel is trying to slam her into the ice so she catches her grasping hands and almost immediately lets go. The funny part is that this actually fixes the Justice student's problem for her anyway, without screwing up Tessa herself. The Strolheim girl sets her straight, and then lets her go just like that.
But, she only intends to leave her that way for a moment, lest she let her advantage slip away, and swings silvery her yin-yang imprinted shield down at her in an arc, held with both hands. "Hn!"

This time Gabriel works with the ice and moves into a crouch, sliding along witht he push of the shield. She can handle this, yes this will work for her.
"I feel compelled that it is good to meet you, " Gabriel comments, someone she seemed to approve of.
"When this is over I should very much like to speak to you further." She then uses the ice to help slide her into a strong round house kick, sliding in a circle on the ice as best she can and trying to knock the skates out from under her opponent with a small grunt.
Katelynn watches at the baton comes at her, and when the time is right, she ducks down quickly to knock the baton away, sending Mizuki out of her way. All the while, she feels a burst of energy which gives her the ability to utilize a close-ranged chi attack, where she shoots a glowing blue ball of chi at Mizuki!

The energy ball is... well, it's blocked; not that Mizuki enjoyed it, but instead of it dumping her on her ass she rides the momentum backwards, away from Katelynn. Mmph. So far she's been... very ineffectual; perhaps she should change that, if she can. Planting her left toe, she drags herself to a stop... and watches her current opponent very carefully.

Tess gives a little grin and nods her head, even raising a couple of fingers and bringing them to her forehead in a salute. "I don't hear that too often from an opponent. Thanks. You seem like someone that has good taste though, from your outfit. If the two of us don't get too knocked out fighting off three other people then I'll stick around to talk I guess. How is that?"
And in response to the sweeping roundhouse that comes her way, not-so-warmly dressed Strolheim elite digs in the heels of her skates so that she doesn't fall, but there's a pretty big spray of ice that's kicked up to one side of her as she skids. The impact is enough to make her grunt, and in response she again tries to punch at Gabe with the edge of her shield lipping just over the edge of her fist.

Oh that was a solid hit, Gabriel would be seeing stars for a while and find herself skidding some across the ice. Actually she had to wonder how she expected to get out of the way in the first place and only manages to stop skidding when she finds her sword. Which she grabs, pulls out of the ice and makes a slice at Tessa with, after all, sword and shield? The two seem to be perfect for each other.
"I find those terms acceptable." Not exactly a strong attacking phrase but that doesn't stop her from using it to try and cut her opponent sidelong with the weapon.
Nice defense on Mizuki's part, Katelynn will give her that. Especially since she was able to block her attack and recover quickly. That girl must have some real nice skills in her. Nonetheless, the fight is still going to get better from here, and Katelynn will definitely see to that on her part. She performs a one-eighty and heads at a fast speed towards Mizuki, attempting to deliver another quick punch.

Not this time; Mizuki absorbs the punch with her baton and the back of one forearm, deflecting the fist before it can do much harm. Just as quickly, she is reversing her baton grip, letting it drop, and reaching for Katelynn's shoulders. The goal, of course, is to grab Katelynn by said shoulders and pull her forward--that is, towards Mizuki--while Mizuki ducks out of the way and trips the karateka onto her face. Probably it'd be a bit more painful than normal, given the surface they're sliding on; but that isn't exactly Mizuki's goal. It's simply a tactical shift.

Ah, Tessa had lost track of that thing already in all the talking. And now that she sees Gabriel stopping herself against it and then drawing it back up out of the ice she almost ends up psyching herself out a little. Yeah, there's no way Gabe would've gotten hit on purpose *that* hard while counting on the fact that it would knock her over toward her weapon.
But, whether it's a little or a lot, it does mess with the Roman girl's head enough to make her flinch, allowing her to be cut along her side, albeit shallowly instead of deep. There's blood on the ice and on Gabriel's sword, and Tessa's shield arm is either way slow to react, or she's attacking with it to try and injure Gabriel in the same way on her opposite side. Just, her shield isn't sharp enough to cut anything. It'll just bruise. "Ngh... I knew that thing was trouble. Oh well!"

Mizuki's a tad quick at times, and Katelynn remembers that the hard way. She's caught by Mizuki and finds herself going facefirst onto the ice. Between the coldness of the ice and the pain, it's a lot worse than it sounds. Fortunately, Katelynn put her hands out to keep herself from hitting the ice too hard, so no bloody noses or anything like that. A good thing too, since blood is hard to clean up, even for zambonis!
For now, Katelynn simply takes a moment to catch her breath and recover from that attack.

This time Gabriel manages to cover herself but next time? Who knows, and then she's on the attack again, bringing herself into a position to to leap in the air, since she has better traction there, okay flawed logic? Leep off the ice? she'll just use the impact from the attack to help give her the air and go into a spinning strike toward Tessa.
"Here.. Confess..! " she says, then after landing, perhaps drilled into the ground she might add something like,
" Habit."
... hunh. Mizuki didn't even hit all that hard; perhaps harder than she thought? Well, whatever; Mizuki will let Katelynn get back to her feet. But it won't be at a loss of preparation. With Katelynn taking her time to break off, Mizuki half-closes her eyes as she glides to a halt on the ice... out here, it's easier to pull energy than it would be otherwise, a swirl of blue-silver energy flowing up around the erstwhile shrine maiden, just the visual effect on the energy she's gathering, internally...
Mizuki needs to be more careful, that's for sure...

While Tessa may not have succeeded in returning the favor and wounding Gabriel's side as well, she at least doesn't flinch this time when the other girl comes leaping and spinning at her with her blade. This time her quick reflexes get things right and allow her to block without even thinking, as a shower of silver sparks is thrown off of her shield and hopefully back into the swordswoman's face.
"Confess to wh- Oh. Okay. I was about to say." Seriously, about the only bad thing she ever does is take the lord's name in vain. Not much of a juicy confession, that.

The sparks cause some confusion as Gabriel reaches a hand up in an attempt to catch them. She fails miserably but even after that she's just blinking. It really didn't hurt that terribly much, but maybe it had some other effect that was advantegous for her opponent. She didn't really know.
"That attack.." she begins then asks, " Was it designed as some form of decoy?"
Having regained her breath and feeling a little better, Katelynn spins on her skates and skates at Mizuki, who's charging up her energy for something. Whatever it is, Katelynn doesn't want to find out. That's why she's bringing her hand in hopes that she can grab her opponent and throw her to the ice quickly, all while skating out of the way.

This time, apparently, it's Mizuki's turn to eat ice; which she does rather spectacularly, just barely avoiding smashing her nose on the ice as she's upended. Sent skidding away from Katelynn, Mizuki shakes her head out, gasping with pain... but she has a cure for what ails her. Rising up on one knee, Mizuki clasps her hands together, and murmurs softly. Shortly thereafter, power wells up around her, and seems to literally pour over her, bluish-green in color, almost looking like water itself, but fading before it hits the ice...
Tess raises her eyebrows a bit, and begins to start sliding back, checking her shield against Gabriel's sword with a little *clink* and shrugging her shoulders. "Are you sure it was even an attack? Metal on metal tends to cause sparks... "
And as if to reaffirm this she starts to swing her shield down at Gabriel's sword almost directly, the arcing path that it follows trailing brief silver afterimages.

Though at this point Gabriel doesn't even seem to care about her sword, she instead just stays sort of on the ice, no point in standing and starts to glow gold. Whatever she's trying to do.. It's totally lost. The glow dies almost as quick as it started, at least as quick as it takes Tessa to hit her. That pretty much kills whatever she was doing, but to be fair, it was a really slow attack.. at least it seemed to be. The color fades and Gabriel slumps back from the effort.
Mizuki's trying something, and Katelynn's not sure what it is. Nonetheless, she skates away a little, stopping to carefully watch Mizuki and the other fighters, while Katelynn herself ponders the next best move.

Trying 'something'...? Yes she is. The power washes over her fully, and Mizuki starts looking like she's feeling better... but the power doesn't -stop- there. Mizuki rarely gets a chance to do this; she pours on more of her chi, energy flowing along her body, pattering down like rain now... a lesser flow, to be sure, but still a flow of energy, in that blue-green color. As this goes on, Mizuki rises to her feet... seeming more ready than before, or at least, more refreshed from Katelynn's assault.
Thanks to what training the folks at Strolheim have given her, Tessa seems to know when to expect things like what her opponent just tried. She was in fact expecting it a bit earlier, and Gabriel did call her bluff. She didn't fall for it at all.
But the Roman was still patient, and tried again to coax the blonde into unleashing what she had been building up to. But this time it wasn't actually much of a feint, as she really did hit her, and in such a way as to completely interrupt the flow of chi. We wasn't just hitting the sword, but glancing off of it and ramming the edge of her shield into Gabriel's stomach. It may not have hurt a whole lot, but the real intent was to shock her and break her concentration anyway. Trust her, she could have done worse.
But yeah, that could have been really dangerous and she knows it. She tried the same thing against a certain visitor back at the castle and ended up eating a barrage of punches for it, and getting cratered into a wall...
In any case, though, while Gabriel is slumping like that Tessa remembers what she said earlier about chatting with the other girl, if they both managed to not get knocked out cold, so she starts to back off a bit, and turns her head to look back over one shoulder and find that pile of hockey sticks she spotted earlier. She's soon skating her way to it, grabbing two sticks, and tossing one over to Gabriel. Whether she takes it or not is of course up to her, but Tessa's quickly coming back in with hers held out in front of her much like a lance.

Well it was a moment rest for Gabriel, who accepts the 'lance' and gathers to her feet with it. But it was only a moment and with the hockey stick she is quickly reminded about not having skates. She therefore does her best to hook Tessa with it and draw her close to bring the stick around her and pull her into a chock hold. If she can.
The motion is met also with a considerable amount of fatigue, Gabriel is slowly starting to show strain, this coming to a match on ice, without skates? It was madness, but the truth? Gabriel didn't know how to skate anyway. She wasn't about to learn either. especially not like this.
OK, enough relaxing. It's time for more action. Katelynn takes a deep breath and then resumes skating once again. She builds up a slight level of speed, but doesn't go too fast. Instead, she lets herself go at a moderate glide, keeping her eye on Mizuki as she approaches. When she gets close enough, she crouches down and rears back slightly, preparing to thrust her palm forward at the girl's stomach!

Seems like Mizuki can't catch a break at all in this fight; Katelynn's been beating up on her at will, and that makes Mizuki sad inside. Her attempt to block is misplaced and she ends up getting punched in the stomach... coughing out, she reacts immediately, however, seeking to grab Katelynn around the neck, while she's still close, and plant her right toe for traction as she attempts to just send the girl whirling away from her.

Hm, with the way Gabriel latches onto the stick at first, Tessa almost has this urge to just keep right on going and try to ram it into the wall with the other girl going along for the ride. But she doesn't. And not just because she's too busy getting choked.
The charging shieldmaiden pulls to a halt and turns the blades of her skates so that a great shower of ice is thrown up against the transluscent wall, and lets go of the red hockey stick in favor of getting her arm up in between her throat and the crook of wood that's about to be driven into it. It isn't exactly her shield arm, but it still does the job, while leaving the shield free to hopefully be driven into the blonde's stomach again, to drive her back a little. "Okay so that wasn't as fun as I thought it would be." But there's got to be something else cool she can try here in a minute, if no one else steals the idea.

Gabriel decides to catch this one off her arm, looking somewhat confused and less thinking it was 'cool'. The fact of the matter was, it hurt even to block , but not enough that she would complain, afterall, why complain? Instead she tries a double thrust of her wrists at Tessa's chest. Even trying to do this would send her sliding across the ice, once again she doesn't even bother trying to stand up. Inwardly she marks on her to do list to go and find the person who arranged this match and purify them. She doesn't care if it is Geese Howard.
Do unto others, or something like that. In any case, Mizuki gets Katelynn and sends her onto the ice, hard. This time, it feels like one of her teeth were jostled. Or the whole set for that matter. Still, she's done picking on Mizuki for now. Instead, she decides to turn her attention to someone more deserving of it. Who that is remains to be determined.

Mizuki shakes her head... tired of fighting Katelynn, or at least, tired of getting smacked -around- by Katelynn, Mizuki sets herself then starts skating off... but not towards the karateka, at all. Calling out a cheery "'scuse me, I'd like to cut in," she ramps up her speed then starts skating towards Gabriel, of all people; hopefully Tessa will understand that the goal is not to doubleteam on Gabriel, but just to get away from Katelynn for a bit... Mizuki draws her short staff back, and lets fly as she passes Gabriel, seeking to simply trip the girl up. To take her down, with minimal damage... that's pretty much Mizuki's style, anyways.

It seems that in the exchange just before Mizuki arrives and declares her intention of cutting in, Tessa and are right in the midst of hitting each other simultaneously. Needless to say, Tess is a bit distracted for a moment. With a grunt, she clips Gabe in the side the way she had intended to not much earlier. She just had to get hit to make it work. It ends up being totally worth it, though, since to finish things off she catches the blonde around the waist and with a mighty shove sends her careening back into the net of that goal she started the match off leaning against. A siren and a flashing light are set off and everything.
Afterward though, Tessa shrugs and gives Mizuki a little salute. "Yeah, uh... that other girl is still up, right? I guess I'll come back to you two later if things go my way. Oh, and try not to knock her out, if you can? We're supposed to chat later." And then with a little salute, she starts casually skating off in the direction of Katelynn, one hand behind her back and shield held down at her side in the other.

Getting hammered both ways was unplleasant, she didn't really see Tessa coming, but she saw Mizuki and she tried to move, but instead she fell on her behind and then resulted in getting thrown anyway. It was obvious that she was angry, very angry. She makes her move to get off the ice.
"I will not.. suffer this any longer, who ever thought that this sort of thing should be done.. On ice?! It is.. juvenile." She curses, her eyes narrowly together. Scanning the area she does see one thing that interests her. It's a zamboni.

Good, Mizuki's taking on Tessa, since Katelynn's getting tired of beating up the poor girl. She's decided to have some fun with the others. Presumably Tessa herself, who is surprisingly skating in her direction. Apparently Mizuki wasn't a good enough opponent, so Katelynn is more than happy to fill that blank in. She heads towards Tessa and attempts to greet her with a quick punch.
Fortunately, Mizuki can't hear Kate's thoughts, or she might remind her just who won their last fight... she frowns at Gabriel. "My apologies..." She's not used to fighting like this, really, multiple opponents and on ice... either would be trying, but both at the same time... Mizuki can understand Gabriel's frustration.
"Again, my apologies!" she cries, as she builds up speed and attempts to take Gabriel down again--this time with a slamming baton attack to the leg. Tonya Harding eat your heart out... then again, with Mizuki actually telegraphing her attacks like this, it's not quite the same is it?

Um, no. Mizuki was just polite about asking to switch targets, and Tessa being the sporting type saw fit to respect it and mosey on instead of lashing out at Mizuki for coming near like a crazy person. Did it look like she turned her nose up and just ignored the other girl in favor of a bigger challenge to anyone else? Probably not.
If anything, most people would assume she's not paying attention to the karate girl yet, as she makes a sharp turn and heads back over toward the stack of hockey sticks and pucks again, with her back to the impending punch that's coming at her. But she turns and blocks at the last minute, with a hockey stick, and then takes a moment to line up a shot before shipping a puck at Katelynn's head!

She wasn't paying attention to her opponent, except to glance the blow off a forearm and then head for the zamboni which she hops on and fires up. Disqualification? Yeah right, like anyone would care. She aims it for the nearest target, in this case? Mizuki. Her eyes narrow, she kicks it into gear and. . .

Ouch! If a player isn't wearing a helmet when they get hit with a hockey puck directed at them, does that mean the other player incurs a trip to the penalty box? Well, as luck would have it, Tessa hits Katelynn in the face, causing her reel backward and land on her rear as she holds her face in pain. When they come away, her right eye is starting to show signs of blackening.
"OK, you wanna play like a pro? Well, I'll happily oblige you there!" Katelynn snarls as she grabs a nearby hockey stick and rushes at Tessa, attempting to bring her stick up to deliver a hard cross-check!

... wh--whoa! "H--hey!" she cries, surprised, as she backs the hell away from the zamboni, "Th--they said that the zamboni was off-limits! HEY!" She doesn't seem mad... just kind of surprised. Didn't figure Gabriel for doing this kind of thing... but nonetheless she's -not- going to try and fight someone with a zamboni, that's just crazy. Where would she even begin?!? So apparently... she's actually leading the zamboni driving Gabriel right towards Kate, as she skates back in that direction, pointing with her baton and shouting, "W--watch out! Wild Zamboni!!"
Of course, she hasn't forgotten that this is a fight; but she'll skate past Katelynn and Tessa then stop, hoping the two of them will slow the zamboni down, while Mizuki goes into energy-pulsing mode again, blue-white chi flaring around her in a rising column...

Tessa looks on with a slight smirk as she makes her second goal of the night, but she doesn't let her guard down even slightly. There's her shield handing from one arm, and the stick she launched the puck with held in both hands.
It's the stick that she blocks with, however, and Katelynn is attacking just hard enough that the thing snaps in the middle and becomes useless as she cross checks it with her own. Or maybe Tess was just holding it wrong when she blocked with it, who knows. She's no Canadian after all.
"Yeah that was pretty good I guess. Hurt my hands just a little." she says, shaking them out a bit and pulling her shield back off of her forearm where it fits onto her bracelets, taking it and holding it out in front of herself while a sudden rush of silver chi brusts out of it and forms a sort of second shield, which is bigger and moves in waves. And should it hit, it's like a wall of pure force when she comes charging out to slam into Katelynn like a truck. Or, perhaps like that Zamboni over there. Only less slow!

But there is still a zamboni and did you people forget about it? Well it was headed toward Katelynn. This was however only brief, she would run the girl over. . or not and then continue to the next, that is to say the zamboni was on a course now for Tessa. One thing that is clear by the way she looks, the speed in which the zamboni is traveling is clearly not to her liking, try as she might to get the device to go faster.. it just doesn't. Her teeth clench and she continues on, with beautiful ice behind.

One thing after another. First Katelynn is hit hard by Tessa's attack, which sends her flying across the ice. Unfortunately, it's right into the path of the zamboni coming at her, which is also very painful. That in itself is more than enough to leave Katelynn looking like a hockey player who played a bit too rough out there today.
"OK, you punk," Katelynn grumbles. "You've got a lot of guts to attack me like that. So consider this repayment!" She says as she focuses on her fists, and then launches a large blast of chi from them at Gabriel.
... well, ouch. Zamboni'ed. At least Katelynn's ass will come out shiny and sl--well, uh, that's probably not so good either. Wow. That's ... that's rough. Mizuki shakes her head... this is a battle she's -not- prepared to take on. Zambonis are just out of her league. We'll see if Gabriel leaves the machine in order to deal with the big blast of chi from Katelynn... Mizuki, herself, is glad for the break. It gives her time to prepare for whatever else may happen...

Tess takes a moment to consider what just happened. She really had no idea Gabriel was coming in on a zamboni from that direction, so yeah, it's not her fault she knocked Katelynn directly into its path, as far as she's concerned. However, if anybody asks she will probably take credit anyway, because it was awesome.
After she's done shirking the blame though, she blinks as she realizes what Katelynn is probably about to do. She can't just stand here and let her get knocked out if there's something she can do about it, so she chases after her and attempts to strike her in the back of the neck with a quick judo chop. Maybe she ought to put a little more effort into it, but eh, she's getting kind of tired after all the skating around and tackling she's done.

There is a explosion atop the zamboni as the rider is hit head on by the energy attack and the device is blasted and stops dead. Smoking. One must assume that the rider is somewhere on the zamboni.. smoldering. That wasn't a K.O., that was a straight up massacre. Needless to say.. the zamboni has stopped.

Katelynn sees the attack incoming towards her, and despite the fact she's running out of steam here, she manages to gather enough energy for an Energy Fist to interrupt Tessa's incoming attack. But it doesn't really matter whether or not the attack succeeds, since as soon as the attack is launched, Katelynn almost immediately collapses. Fortunately, she's right by the exit to the rink when it happens.
... well... what to do? Tessa's the only one Mizuki hasn't gone after. Perhaps it is time to change that. Mizuki starts off, building up speed as she swirls around... taking a full lap to get her speed up. It doesn't take -that- long, as she comes in on a long, looping path. So far she's done little in this fight... time to change that.
Nearing Tessa, Mizuki cocks her right arm back, then crouches... and -leaps-, spinning in midair, and attempting to pass by Tessa with her baton extended, aiming for multiple strikes against the shield-wielding girl's body. It's quite picturesque.

A karate chop isn't exactly a match for a balled-up fist filled with energy, no. But the funny thing is that after Katelynn punches right through her attack and slams the fist into her stomach, Tessa still chops her, and she remains standing despite the pain and the fact that most of the wind was just knocked out of her. Katelynn goes down, and the crowd kind of looks a little confused.
But the fight's not over yet. They know it, and Tessa knows it, as she comes hopping back down from the side of the zamboni, having to forego checking to see if Gabriel is conscious or not to deal with Mizuki first.
Her skates dig down into the ice, and she raises her shield to stop the incoming attacks. She's somewhat successful, but at least one baton strike catches her in the leg while she's in the process of trying to bring it up and kick the miko away from her with it. Ow.
Billowing clouds of smoke issue from the top of the zamboni, where a small fire now rages, another tiny explosion on the top, it's all really quite dramatic, the device looking like it was hit by a missile strike. Really that was some chi! Meanwhile the mobile Zamboni Gundam, pilot Kai Gabriel is no where to be seen. Still in the pilot seat.

UNH. That's going to leave a mark. A long red one, that is going to be dripping blood. Mizuki felt that the kick was slow enough to take a risk on... but she took the wrong risk, and even as she's bringing her weapon to bear she's getting kicked with a skate. She doesn't scream, but it's damn close... biting down hard on her teeth, her face pales as she struggles to stay upright...
Ah, Tessa does kind of feel bad about that one. She has a conscience after all, and she told herself she wasn't going to try to cut anyone with the blades on her skates. And while she wasn't consciously *trying* to make them slice Mizuki, she wasn't remembering to kick with only the blunt side of the shoe either. She's tired, and stuff like that is likely to happen.
"Hey, sorry, I didn't mean to cut you... I just need a quick breather. This has been a long fight."

The Zamboni then lets out a sudden explosion of it's approval to the situation, billowing with even more smoke and letting a bit of shrapnel around. Still no movement.

... Mizuki shakes her head, getting her breathing under control. "It--it's okay. I won't hold anything against you." She... glances over at Gabriel--or, uh, the zamboni. Still no sign of the Gabriel.
Mizuki faintly smirks. "Someone told me that I had to do everything I could to win... that nothing was 'off-limits'. I don't know if I believe that," she murmurs, "but I can kind of understand it now. So... forgive me!" she says, as she bursts into a speed-skate, straight for Tessa... as she skates close, she drops low, and twists to her left, striking out for Tessa's legs with the short staff... then rising up into a high slash, stretching up onto her legs.

The Strolheim woman waves a hand dismissively as soon as she thinks she's ready, her breathing mostly even again as she straightens her posture and steadies herself on her skates. "Yeah, don't worry about it. Just do what you gotta do and let's get this over WI- " *crunch*
Not in any position for ducking down low so soon and placing her shield in front of her legs, Tessa opts for trying to jump over the attack aimed at taking her legs out from under her, but her timing is off and she falls, and gets slashed as well before her face finally hits the ice and makes that sound.
She's still able to latch onto the zamboni and pull herself back up after the fact, though, and while her face may be a bit wet it's not bleeding very much. There's plenty fight left in her, and she shows it by trying to charge past the shrinemaiden with her shield out.
Just then Gabriel explodes out of the smoldering top of the zamboni, her hair all around and her arms all clenched and her eyes burning and .. Okay it wasn't really all that cool. She was looking okay, but she was singed all over and her smoke had gotten kid of messy all over. Then she realizes that she isn't being attacked, she glances left then right and realizes.. yes they're fighting each other. Join in? Well.. the ice wasn't very nice to her before.. She steps to the edge of the ice and stares at it like a cat eyeing water.

Oof! Mizuki brings her arms up in time to deflect the shield (... ha ha), stumbling briefly before she's able to right herself. Well then... "That's a really interesting weapon," Mizuki mentions to Tessa, with a faint smile; already she's fought someone who actually uses books and paper... how -odd-. Perhaps... it's time to maybe finish this?
Mizuki twists to face Tessa, drawing her short-staff back; sweeping her arm forward, she creates a knee-high crest-wave of blue-white, icy chi.
"Koori no..." Then Mizuki sweeps the baton back down, firing off a waist-high wave of the icy energy at Tessa.
"... HEBI!" comes the cry to finish off the flashy attack, Mizuki skating backwards out of movement reaction.

Oh yay, maybe Tessa's face will feel better if the rest of her body gets frozen as well. Since that seems pretty unlikely, she does like she should have done during that other exchange and attempts to place her shield low and try to protect her legs with it. This kind of works out, but it also kind of doesn't. It's still damn cold, and she can barely hold onto the metal as it cools and starts trying to stick to her hand once it's all frosty.
And hey look, there's Gabriel. So she's not unconscious huh? She's pretty sure she and Mizuki haven't been fighting each other *that* long, so maybe she was never knocked out to begin with. So at this point, all Tess has to do is make sure *she* doesn't end up taking massive damage herself. And the only way she can really think to try and do that is with a front kick meant to put some distance between her and the miko. She's pretty sure she can't make her shield unstick from her hand at the moment. "Hngh!"

Gabriel takes a step, onto the ice. She falls on her backside. She gets up, takes a step, on the ice, falls in a Katelynn shaped impression. She just sort of tries to get another another step. She falls back on her backside. She gives up entirely and decides to moves back to the zamboni, but she fails miserably, she sort of paddles over the ice with a disgusted look. She can't beat up the ice.

Mizuki frowns, as the wavefront of chi is blocked--some of it literally absorbed by the shield, of course, but most of it gone... but she can feel the way that Tessa's coming in, even around the wave of chi. She spots the kick just in time; Mizuki whips her baton around in a wide circle, completing it just as the kick comes crashing into her stomach. It hurts, quite a bit, but not enough to make her stop her technique--a circular field of that blue-white ice chi flaring into existence around Tessa, briefly, for a snapping second, before Mizuki is thrust away by the kick, doubled over.
The Roman starts trying to quickly pull her foot back when she sees Mizuki starting to do something suspicious after the fact. At first it doesn't seem like it's even a direct attack but when she feels the sudden incy chi starting to wrap around her she's proven wrong.
It looks to be a pretty sure thing that Tessa is done for at that point, but there's a final flourish of silver chi there at the end where a sort of forcefield comes roaring up out of her shield. It's not exactly controlled the way it usually is as Tessa starts to fall to her knees somewhere in the middle, but it's at least enough to fight back the cold energy.

Wh--whoa! Mizuki stumbles and staggers back; actually, she was kind of fortunate. She caught the edge of one skate on a rut already made in the ice and she was spun out of the way of the forcefield. But she did land on her butt.
"Oof!" cries Mizuki, as she spins on the ice... and realizes she's the only one still up. Wow! The miko rises to her feet and looks around... Katelynn's been pulled off by the medics, Gabriel left a bit ago... Mizuki skates over to Tessa.
"Are--are you alright?" she asks, sounding a bit worried. "I don't know if that was too much or not..."
COMBATSYS: Mizuki has ended the fight here.
Well.. not the only one. Gabriel was still up, she was just also disqualified. She also doesn't have skates. She gets up and falls down again, it was really ggetting old.
Tess is spawled out on the ice on her back, and it looks like her shield finally came unstuck since it's now sliding away to one side of her and spinning much like an air hockey puck. Her eyes are still open, but she definitely doesn't want to try and move. Exhausted, cold, and still bleeding just a little from her side where that sword cut her.
It's not long before the announcer speaks up and decalres Mizuki to be the winner. Yes, Gabriel was still there, but even if the zamboni thing hadn't been grounds fo disqualification, there was also the fact that she was absent for several rounds. The guy does look just a little bit surprised Gabriel didn't come back to interfere though. Or maybe that's disappointed? You never know with people who work for Geese.
"Y- yeah, I'm okay. Just gimme a minute. Three people is definitely too many." Even for a health nut like her who should have energy to spare! And probably especially on ice.
There then a glance given toward Gabriel as Tessa hears her fall down again, and she motions back toward her with a jerk of her head. "You wanna go help her up? I mean I'll understand if the zamboni thing kind irked you too much, but... "
Mizuki shakes her head. "No... I mean, I understand that some people get mad... even if I try not to." She smiles again, then nods to Tessa. "I'll see if she wants help," she says, skating towards Gabriel shortly thereafter... to give the help requested, if it will be taken.
