World Warrior 2007 - [R3] Grant vs Sagat

Description: A short but titanic bout between two embodiments of physical strength. But the result is unexpected for all those attending... (Winner: None)

The World Warrior Tournament has reached its next round and its former Host, Sagat, is still in it. This round Sagat is informed that his next challenger is an acquaintance of his, Grant. Sagat has been eagerly awaiting this reunion! Thailand is hosting this round of the World Warrior, giving Sagat home field advantage. Sagat's fans will probably dominate the entire fan base outside of the fighting area. And where is that fighting area? Outside the Wat Phrathat Doi Suthep Temple in Chiang Mai Province. The beautiful Buddhist Temple is definately not your normal fighting arena, however this picturesque locale will make for better images for the paper and DVD sales. Sagat is announced by the announcer and the Hometown Boy makes his way to the 'ring'.

Actually, there is no fanbase for Grant. The mysterious fighter has only appeared a single time in public, losing to Iori in the King of Fighters. There's been immense curiosity about him and his fighting style; The Demon of Might is a figure of legend and mystique after all, supposedly a man of incredible power. Were they to know that even the Muay Thai god has yet to overtake him in single combat, it might add to that particular prestige. But if such will be accomplished, it will likely be within this grand stage. His entrance is remarkably subtle. Sagat would be likely glancing around, only to find there's suddenly the large figure opposite in a ripple of motion, blue cape billowing as his stance spreads and the ground rumbles an isntant. The many witnesses certainly appear taken aback, but the consensus on instant replay will be that Grant leaped from above -- high enough that nobody noticed him fall, especially given the overall lack of sound upon his effortless landing. "Sagat. It has been long, old friend. I have kept up with my training; Let us see if you have kept up with yours." One arm flickers from the blue cape, a salute of comradery and respect reserved for one other individual; Kain. "...I shall not hold back my hand. Earn this victory!!" Thereafter yanking off the clasp to his cloak, Grant spreads into a combative stance, crossing his forearms before his chest. "Prepare yourself!!"

Sagat's single eye will eventually fall upon Grant after he makes his descent and arrival into the ring. The Muay Thai God will hold his arms out ahead of him. One forearm at a time will have its wrappings tightened by the Muay Thai God. Sagat will offer a nod to his opponent, "You do not need to worry about my training." He will state in a gravelly voice, "Make me earn this victory." He requests of Grant. The Thai Tiger will shift into his fighting stance after tightening his wrappings. His legs slide under him and rise up onto the balls of his feet. His knees bend a little to lower his immense stance. Finally Sagat's fists hover in front of him in a semi-defensive manner. As Grant crosses his arms, Sagat will begin to focus and call upon hsi chi in preparation of this bout.

Shifting his stance subtly, Grant's cape flickering around behind, he allows an unseen smile within his mask. He has observed Sagat throughout the tournament; And he is beginning to grow stronger. More then before, but... So much farther he could go. The man wonders what Sagat might think were he aware this battle was intended, and not chance. Rushing across the intervening distance, one heel suddenly ignites into deep purple fire, blossomed into life with an upwards snapping kick towards Sagat's chest. The intent is to double over even the great Muay Thai master, one shoulder snapping down towards his face before a single palm thrust intends to send him staggering backwards. The maneuver is slow, but Sagat has little chance to evade; The reciprocation to his future defenses might be rather staggering... "Haaaa!!"

COMBATSYS: Grant successfully hits Sagat with Majin Gan-En.

One would think that the Muay Thai Tiger were ready for the incoming attack from his comrade/opponent. However the reaction to the attack begs to differ. The Thai Legend seems to raise his arms a little higher in an effort to begin the deflection or blocking of Grant's initial attack. However, as Slow as Grant's attack is... Sagat's reaction is slower still. The result? Sagat is sent flying backwards. The powerful blow sending the Muay Thai God backwards and to a prone position on the ground. Sagat is there for a second, stunned from the sudden immense power his body just absorbed. The Thai Tiger will move eventually, and when he does, he will roll backwards and remain in a crouched position. Sagat's arms remain behind his back once he's upright. The former Emperor is in mild disbelief over his own failure. It angers him. Sagat's arms ignite into flames as he kneels there. A nearly feral grunt erupts from Sagat as he thrusts his arms forward. A firey crescent wave of chi is sent careening towards Grant in response!

COMBATSYS: Sagat successfully hits Grant with Low Tiger Shot.

Grant            1/-----==/=======|=======\===----\1            Sagat

There was absolutely no hesitation from Grant as he rushed forward, although the low burst of energy catches him off-guard. An attempt was made to leap over, which failed; He's struck cleanly upon the hip, spinning the Martyr of Might through the air with a grunt. But he descends rapidly, shooting out his left hand in an attempt to catch Sagat by the throat in an iron grip. "Come!! Show me your true heart! This is no spar... Fight for your honor and pride!" If the latter succeeds, Grant would heft forward before attempting to hurl Sagat upon his back once more, utilizing little more then brute force at the moment. Not many people can move that much mass around -- Grant happens to be on the short list.

COMBATSYS: Sagat interrupts Quick Throw from Grant with Tiger Uppercut.

Wait for it. Wait for it. These are the thoughts that would be running through Sagat's mind if he occupied his mind with such things during the heat of a fight. Oh no... Sagat's got other things on his mind, like his next several moves and possible counters in the near future. As of right now? He's planned this out. The Thai Legend will remain in his crouched position after he hurls his Tiger Shot at the Martyr of Might. As his occasional sparring partner reaches him and reaches out for him, Sagat springs forward and upwards. As he ascends, he's caught by the Martyr's hands. However what's more important is that Sagat will lunge forward and upwards with his fist extended up into the air, "TI-GER UPP-ER-CUT!" Will be shouted by Sagat when his body arcs and his fist collides with the Demon of Might.

The impact is legendary, and Grant goes skidding backwards. He lands in a crouch, but does not actually fall; Hand bracing him, hiss of pain going through his massive form. Good. But it might be insufficient. Suddenly shooting forward, Grant flickers across the intervening distance before suddenly unleashing an uppercut of his own; Sweeping his open palm straight up in an attempt to catch Sagat upon his chin, and send him flying a few meters of his own accord. It's a short hop, and Grant would descend immediately thereafter, preferably remaining in close proximity with his opponent. These are the final seconds. The onlookers might be unaware, but... the battle is about to end. One way or another!

COMBATSYS: Sagat endures Grant's Kyou Chou-Jin.

Grant            1/-======/=======|>>>>>>>\>>>>>>>\2            Sagat

Sagat will connect with his signature manuever rather well. The results are pretty much what he expected of the Martyr, based on previous encounters with him. Sagat will hit the ground and rise up into his fighting stance once again. It is at about that time the Demon decides on his counter-offensive and executes. The Uppercut from Grant is a powerful one. It's delivery is fluid and expertly pulled off. It even connects with Sagat's chest and chin. Sagat had clenched his jaw and tensed his body, preparing to accept the blow. And what a mighty blow it is for the Thai Legend to accept! In a show of his own power, Sagat does nothing more than raise his head up in an effort to absorb the blow. Surprising still, Sagat's answer to the Kyou Chou-Jin is a powerful roundhouse knee strike meant to catch the Martyr in his midsection just after he lands from his uppercut.

COMBATSYS: Grant endures Sagat's Medium Kick.

Descending like a rock, Grant shifts his body to the side, and allows the blow to impact his ribcage. The impact is resounding, but his own reaction rather simple; His right foot again seethes with purple chi, before he shoots it forward while snarling, trying to take advantage before Sagat can raise his own guard. "MAJIN..." And then an upwards kick is unleashed, a flash of vorpal energy seething upwards and slicing through the air. "ENGETSU-RIN!!" Whirling the leg downwards, three more of these earth-shattering kicks are offered, trying to juggle the monumental fighter before rushing forward to impact his body and send Sagat flying away, hopefully to land upon the ground in a disheveled heap. Grant's hurt; He feels the pain coursing through his body like poison. But he will not fail...!!

COMBATSYS: Grant successfully hits Sagat with Majin Engetsu-Rin.

The Mighty Muay Thai Tiger will snap his leg back after the knee strike is delivered to the Demon of Might. Grant took that incredibly well... and it shows in his reaction to the knee strike. Grant's powerful Majin Engetsu-Rin technique raises the Thai Mountain up into the air and if you can imagine it, juggles him between the kicks. Sagat is eventually allowed the pleasure of slamming into the ground after the technique. Though saying that Sagat slams into the ground is an understatement. Sagat hits the ground so hard that he ruins a plot of well kept grass here on the grounds of Wat Phrathat Doi Suthep. Sagat claws slowly out of his trench. He almost seems to lazily flop over onto his side and roll around so that he can get his feet up under him. A bruise is forming around Sagat's good eye. There are patches of blood and lascirations over Sagat's body. Despite what his appearance... Sagat has a look of surprise and a little clarity. He knows he has very little left in him as he kneels there. However to simply concede victory to Grant is something that even the Demon of Might would frown upon. Sagat understands why Grant would look down at this action and he, seems to understand it. Give it your all until you have nothing left. Sagat's arms fall to his sides and his face scrunches up in intense concentration, "TIGER-" He will shout as he thrusts his arms foreward for a final time in this fight. A huge crescent wave of flaming chi erupts and careens through the Thai air towards Grant, "-CANNON!" With the arms thrust forward, Sagat will just slump forward after expelling all that energy.

COMBATSYS: Sagat can no longer fight.

There's a sudden flare of purple fire within Grant, before he merely snarls and unleashes a chi-imbued backhand, striking the midst of the assault and dissipating it cleanly. It flickers into motes, but as the flames settle it's clear who is the victor. Grant stands strong, stance spread and breath coming heavily. Once more, he has come supreme in this battle of the titans. He then takes a few heavy strides towards the other man, stopping a couple meters off. "Your path is within sight, Sagat. The glory of your old strength. I have given you months to contemplate my offer. It is better to lose now, then to advance clumsily in this meaningless tournament and fall at the hands of one undeserving to even face your reputation. If you wish my help... Then meet me in the mountains north of Southtown, of your own accord. Your pride has felled you twice before. Do not allow your pride to now destroy your chance at redemption!" Swishing the cape back over his shoulder, obscuring his form, Grant strides away from the other man. "I forfeit advancement. There is no victor in this round." This is stated towards the World Warrior referee, who looks dumbfounded to say the least. But in another burst of movement... the Martyr of Might has vanished.

The Thai Fighter is collapsed forward and onto his front. He will roll over as he hears the approach of the Martyr of Might. The approach means, to Sagat, that he failed. He failed again. The World Warrior Tournament, his tournament... he's failed again. Sagat will give Grant a one-eyed gaze as the Martyr of Might speaks to him. His words are absorbed and taken in. The Thai Tiger closes his eye at the word redemption and it remains closed until long after Grant has forfeited and left. It takes several minutes before Sagat sits up. He will ward off all assistance from World Warrior officials and medical personal. He will get up to his own accord... provide a wave to any fans that may have remained... and then leave the fighting ring. The Tiger's head is downcast... much weighs on the mind of the former Emperor.

COMBATSYS: Grant has ended the fight here.
