World Warrior 2007 - [R2] Shenwoo vs Adelheid

Description: Adelheid and Shenwoo clash in a lavish courtyard garden. Despite a few solid strikes, the Bernstein heir's unrelenting offensive proves too much even for the Shanghai Berserker. (Winner: Adelheid)

Kolkata, the former capital of India under British rule, is a large and modern city commonly associated with revolutionary thought and the nation's economic success in recent years; the Maidan is an enormous urban park in that city, featuring stadiums and an enormous stretch of greenery, but it's what's found at the southern end of the Maidan that draws the most attention, right now: The Victoria Memorial.

In front of the enormous marble building dedicated to the memory of the former Queen of England and Empress of India, there is a large garden, which right now plays host to a collection of TV cameras, crewmen and security guards, all holding back the onlookers for this second-round World Warrior match. After all, where better to hold a violent spectacle than in front of a world famous landmark? The area sectioned off for the impending battle is fairly large, given the known propensities of the two men involved; this is, understandably, just fine by Shenwoo.

The self-styled 'God of Battle' is already there, waiting for things to get underway, standing pretty casually off to one side. His thumbs are hooked into the pockets of his leather pants, his gloves in the back pockets, and he taps his foot in anticipation, almost impatiently, as he waits for things to get underway. Of course, it's exciting; there's no way anybody weak would've survived this far into the tournament, right?

Ah, the big, beautiful city. All of them are known for /some/ kind of thought... and sometimes it seems to Adelheid that half of them think themselves some cultural mecca, and the other half fall on the opposite end of the appealing spectrum. But it's all someone else's measure, and that kind of tradition or notoriety is not something that the Bernstein heir respects as some would say he should. Now a tournament like this, on the other hand... World Warrior makes Kolkata not only inviting, but even appealing, and Adelheid's enjoyed the time in the city, and today's little walk in the park. In the literal sense, of course.
Shenwoo's feelings are mirrored by the platinum blonde - this won't be an easy fight, by any measure. He's dressed in a formal-looking uniform that's not from any identifiable military branch on Earth, an ensemble of crisp black, the double-breasted jacket baring a stylized silver accent. His heavy boots fall lightly, due to the graceful stride that carries Adelheid down the pathyway, and to his own side of the 'arena'. Deep crimson eyes study the 'God of Battle' thoughtfully, as the young Bernstein tugs his thin gloves, black leather of course, tighter over his fists, "You should be facing Terry Bogard right now, Shen Woo." Yes, he at least knows his opponent. They may not have matched might, but Shenwoo is a face to remember, if one's seen what he's done with his strength, "But I'll be sure to give you a worthy fight nonetheless!"

With Adelheid's arrival, Shen straightens up a little, unhooking his thumbs and getting his own gloves out of his pockets, pulling the black leather over his hands. "Been there, done that," the taller blond replies, fitting his metal rings back in place over the gloves. No, it's probably not a /nice/ way to fight, but he doesn't shoot energy beams or electricity or anything, so that hardly matters in the grand scheme of things! Rolling his neck a little, Shenwoo paces towards Adelheid, and his broad mouth pulls into a feral, toothy grin. "Just don't bore me, huh?" he adds, and then...

Shen doesn't even wait for any start bell, though the shout to 'FIGHT!' comes from the ref as the berserker suddenly moves from that casual pace to lunging directly at Adel, almost seeming to glide along the pathway as he twists, left fist pulled back. "SHOW ME WHAT YOU GOT!!" Shen shouts wildly as he throws his left fist forward, aiming to meet his opponent's sternum with that metal ring of his, in a powerful rushing punch!

COMBATSYS: Adelheid blocks Shenwoo's Gekiken.

No, Adelheid's relatively sure that the Shanghai berserker isn't the nicest fighter... metal-augmented fists or no. He's not afraid of those fists, but he does give the 'God of Battle' the respect he deserves. A wry sort of a smirk crosses the Bernstein heir's austere face at Shenwoo's 'condition'. Don't bore him. Well, if Adelheid has his way, it'll be quite the other way around! Crimson eyes narrow as the berserker charges, but that fierce rushing punch meets the 'X' of paired forearms, which despite Adel's rather lithe frame, are both powerfully muscled and apparently quite resilient, because the force is stifled, and deflected.
In the span of a breath, the rather quick Adelheid steps to the side, and in on Shenwoo, looking to meet his overwhelming charge with a subtle turnabout, and simply grip the powerful berserker by the /face/. His right hand would clench, should the grip be found, painfully digging into Shenwoo's skull as he's lifted right up off his feet....
.... and /exploded/ backwards by a point-blank windshear, silvery blades erupting from Adelheid's palms, right into Shenwoo's eager maw. At least, that's the plan!

COMBATSYS: Shenwoo endures Adelheid's Scorpion Deathlock.

"Heh," laughs Shen quietly as his attack is deflected, not in the least bit frustrated by this turn of events; and as he gets grabbed by the face? Well, most sensible people would try to avoid that, or mitigate the damage somehow, but not our Shen! The lean brawler just grins and bears it, though it hurts like crazy as he gets blasted by Adel's windy chi. He does not, however, stay blasted back for very long at all.

Having been ready for the attack, at least as much as he COULD be, Shenwoo suddenly lunges forward when he should be still falling back, remaining completely off-balance but instead forcing himself to stumble /at/ Adelheid, dropping low towards the ground momentarily in a crouch before he /explodes/ out of it, rising up with one fist thrust out and up, aimed in a huge uppercut at the other fighter's jaw - all, hopefully, before Adel can recover from his own attack. "GRAAAH!!"

COMBATSYS: Shenwoo successfully hits Adelheid with Strong Punch.

Oh, that's definitely according to plan. Adelheid's smirk becomes a sly, almost predatory smile as Shenwoo explodes backwards, his eyes widening once the Shanghai berserker touches down. Yes, the platinum blonde knows what's coming... but before he can get away from it, his skull is exploding with the impact, and he's teetering backwards on his own footing. The fierce uppercut crashes square into the lithe Bernstein's jaw, and gives Shenwoo back his footing, but...
The platinum blonde isn't falling. Not yet, not from that. He takes the hit square in the jaw and, with much the same fervor as Shenwoo just demonstrated, /hurls/ himself back into the fray. Both gloved hands just lurch forward with the lunge, as Adelheid seeks to haul Shen up by his jacket, or his neck... really anything handy, hoping to catch the Berserker still off-balance... and despite the ringing in his head, all of Adelheid's own fervor goes into getting the clinch...
... and then /blasting/ across the arena, inner chi veritably skyrocketing as he hurtles forward, with Shenwoo in tow, building velocity in a flash as he tries to sandwich the Shanghai brawler's back against one of the park's more resilient looking trees. Still, its trunk may creak, crack, and sway with that kind of impact.

COMBATSYS: Shenwoo fails to interrupt God Press from Adelheid with Tenrenshou.

Pulling back after his uppercut, Shenwoo once again makes no effort to get out of the way of Adel's attack, instead getting caught by his unbuttoned shirt... But he misjudges the speed of the attack, mistakes his timing, and whatever he was /planning/ to do doesn't happen, effort wasted to no effect as he's carried back across the garden, smashing into the tree, hard. "Keh!!" exclaims the brawler, who most certainly felt that one. Well... At least he can't claim that Adel didn't make things interesting, whatever happens now.

Adelheid propells Shenwoo right into the tree, taking that moment to grind the berserker's back harshly into the trunk, before he leaps backwards, landing a short distance away as Shenwoo recovers his bearings, "I trust you're not bored." The Bernstein heir observes rather neutrally in calmly dulcet tones, "Hope you're not lying down on me yet!" He did, after all, come here for a challenge... and even if he feels certain Bogard should be the one in this tournament, he's not going to lie down for anyone, not by a long shot.
Instead, he prods Shenwoo onward, both verbally, and be stooping, and lofting a hefty rock from the garden path. Without further debate, the Bernstein heir simply whips the object in at the recovering Shenwoo, the rock whipping through the air as one further nudge back into motion.

COMBATSYS: Adelheid successfully hits Shenwoo with Thrown Object.

So we're throwing rocks now?! Shenwoo sees the rock coming a mile off, but perhaps he's just not gotten his bearings back properly; he moves to slip out of the way, but instead he actually gets clocked with it, which is... Kind of embarassing, you know? If Shen's going to get frustrated with anything here it'd probably be himself, as he doesn't seem to be on top of his game. But, though he staggers back from the force of the blow and rolls his eyes at himself... The brawler does manage to catch himself before falling.

Instead, Shen forces himself to laugh, but rather than advancing on Adelheid again, he straightens up, apparently relaxed, one hand on his hip and the other raised in front of him, beckoning the other fighter on. "C'mon, what was that? We're not back on the playground, kid!" he chides, lowering that hand to his hip and then leaning forward, grinning broadly. "Or are ya scared? Huh?"

COMBATSYS: Shenwoo gains composure.

"That's right." Adelheid replies, just as intently calm, undisturbed. He's focused, and determined, and apparently a little amused, because his lips quirk a mild grin, "I'm scared." Adelheid watches the rock skim off Shenwoo, watches as he tries to buy more time to get his bearings back.... and seeks to deny both aims, "Or maybe I just want to see if you've still go enough left to get back into this fight!!"
And with that, he whips around into a forward leap, but it doesn't carry him far towards the Shanghai berserker. Instead, the young Bernstein's right leg whips around, and a blast of rampant windshear reaves forth from the path of his boot, a waisthigh lance of cleaving power surging in on Shenwoo in a rampant storm of nastily bladed silver edges.

COMBATSYS: Shenwoo slows Reppukyaku from Adelheid with Large Thrown Object.

That's a good question... /Does/ Shenwoo have enough to get back into the fight? So far it might not seem that way, but it's not as though he'd just give up. And then there comes his favourite of things, somebody throwing energy at him. The berserker's teeth grit, and he reaches for the nearest thing at hand - a decorative garden bench, as it happens - which he then hurls /at/ the blast of windy chi. Unfortunately, it doesn't seem to be up to the task of stopping it entirely, and some of the energy remains to strike Shen, knocking him back a step or two, and then he just laughs anyway.

"I guess we'll see if I do, huh?" he replies, unconcernedly, rolling his neck again and cracking his knuckles. "I guess I should stop babyin' you...."

This time, there is no patience for Shenwoo to recover, either. Adelheid is in right behind the hurtling blast of chi. He lands behind the silvery edge, and as it explodes through the parkbench, and Shenwoo corrects his positioning... the Bernstein heir rushes through the space previously occupied by bench shrapnel and dissipating energy. Fleet strides carry him in hard, and aside from a feinting lunge, his assault is rather simple... but brutally efficient.
Weaving to the side, Adel suddenly refocuses his momentum to launch his right fist in at Shenwoo with a sudden shoulder lunge, seeking to plant a singular, smacking cross across the brawler's face.

COMBATSYS: Adelheid successfully hits Shenwoo with Medium Punch.

That is, of course, fine by Shenwoo; he sees Adelheid as he appears behind his own blast of energy, and he starts to move, but unfortunately the Bernstein heir's feint catches him, and he gets struck with both fists, the blows resounding against his tightly muscled form, though his head only jerks a bit at the cross. "Almost felt that one, kiddo," he says, and then his hand rushes out to grab Adelheid by the collar.

If things go as planned, Shenwoo will deliver a resounding headbutt to Adel's face, before releasing him to create enough room for two powerful crosses of his own - one with either fist - to the other fighter's visage, and then ducking low, he comes up in /another/ mighty uppercut, hoping to knock Adel clean off his feet, with a shout of: "ONE MORE!!!"

COMBATSYS: Adelheid blocks Shenwoo's Kohyou Rengeki.

Shenwoo's resilience is, by this point, expected... Adelheid wasn't looking to put him down with that punch, but giving him a slight ringing in the head is a definite plus in the platinum blonde's book. It also gives him an instant to correct his own assault, though he's still lifted by his jacket, and jerked in. However, Adelheid shifts with the momentum, taking the headbutt firmly on the forehead. It's jarring, to be sure, but far from face-smashing, and as he's dropped... he's quite alert enough to throw up two vertical forearms, one right, one left, into the subsequent hooks. The force of them is absorbed with bruising stings into Adelheid's dense forearms, while maintaining most of his proximity...
Thus, it's Shenwoo's unbuttoned shirt that's grabbed for next, as Adelheid seeks to quite literally sweep Shenwoo's feet out from under him with one of his own, and flip him heels over head to his back on the ground, "Wish I could say the same!!" Hey, if Shenwoo can talk trash, so can Adelheid... and despite the power behind Shenwoo's fist, he's still coming on strong.

COMBATSYS: Shenwoo blocks Adelheid's Medium Throw.

Well, that almost gets Shenwoo more frustrated, all right; still, it's a good defense, and he's got to give some credit for that. At least internally, anyway. Outwardly, all he does is chuckle again, even as he gets grabbed again. He's throw off-balance, and Adel's foot does indeed sweep him off of his own feet, but rather than falling freely, the brawler catches himself, rolling a bit out of the way. "Stop that!!" he shouts, in the process.

Twisting in a low crouch, the brawler stays low like that, falling back on one hand as he throws a leg up and thrusts it out quickly, aimed right at Adelheid's l'il Black Noah. "Hora!!" Sure, it's a cheap shot, but you know... It's been one of those days!

COMBATSYS: Adelheid endures Shenwoo's Light Kick.

Flipping Shenwoo around, Adelheid is already well aware that he's not falling free for a painful impact the way he should be. However, the low crouching offense is not unexpected... though the target is. Adelheid's groin gets a rather fervent impact, but apparently, the kid has balls of solid rock. Teeth grit, a fervent, "Nnnnngggghh..." comes out of the Bernstein heir's mouth, gasped as air tries to leave his lungs, but still he falls forward with the strike, dropping down /over/ Shenwoo's leg to seek to /haul/ the brawler out of his crouch rather violently and abruptly, before both would /launch/ across the park, with Shenwoo jacked up before Adelheid in both hands.
It might be a familiar trip, if it weren't for the intent. First, the actual target happens to be a massive marble fixture which isn't likely to give any sort of leniency to Shenwoo's back, and second... upon impact... a veritable /hurricane/ of wildly luminescent silver-white power would /pour/ from Adelheid's palm, right into the Shanghai berserker's skull, meaning to quite literally juice him with agonizing chi for several brutal moments while crushing his face ever more harshly. Only then would Shenwoo be released, should that initial grip be found.

COMBATSYS: Adelheid successfully hits Shenwoo with Gigantic Pressure.

Today? Just hasn't been Shenwoo's day. That's okay though, it's not the worst thing that's ever happened to him... And besides that, Adelheid's shown Shen some impressive strength, which just means he'll come looking for the Bernstein boy again some other day. The brawler tries to get out of the way of the grab, but he doesn't make it in time, again; he's caught, driven against the marble wall, blasted rather painfully, and then finally let go. And Shenwoo? Well, he laughs.

"Hahahahaha..." the brawler chuckles, shoulders shaking with mirth. "Ha ha ha ha..." He staggers a bit, stumbling away from Adel - he's just about finished here, he knows it, and it's pretty clear to anyone else - and then he stumbles towards his opponent again, and at the last moment he twists, raising a leg again, and then trying to kick Adelheid in the face as hard as he can, laughing aloud. "HAHAHAHAHAHA!!" Either way, once that's done, he flops over to the ground, chuckling to himself, woozily. Crazy.

COMBATSYS: Shenwoo can no longer fight.

Oh, Adelheid is sure that'll finish it! Shenwoo can't possibly stand back up after that, right? Not after the rest of the fight. But in this case, it's a mild underestimation, and the Bernstein heir stands a bit too close as Shenwoo staggers free, and before he can dance away from the deceptively slow, but powerful strike.... he's cracked squarely in the face, and launched backwards himself. The Shanghai brawler falls, the Bernstein heir falls....
But Adelheid doesn't sprawl out of the fight, he rolls instead, kicking back to his feet a bit shakily for a moment. A gloved hand rises to wipe the steady trickle of blood from his mouth and nose, and rather than manic laughter, Adelheid simply smiles. He knew Shenwoo was a titan in his own right, and this accomplishment... well, it's the path to one more titan. One more remarkable style, "Well fought." He offers simply... and it was. Perhaps Shenwoo underestimated him, but either way, Adelheid didn't give the berserker a single inch.

COMBATSYS: Adelheid has ended the fight here.
