Description: What looks like a major victory for Makoto and Maki gets turned around in the late-game, much to everyone's surprise! (Winners: Dudley and Natsu)
Hmmmmmph. Can't drive the Jaguar in here... though the Dome is pretty huge, the path just wasn't clear. Ah well. It is parked outside and it has its share of admirers--and despite Dudley having lost in his his World Warrior fight as well as recently against Alex in the Neo League--and despite him being far far too old to be a Taiyo student--he's still got his share of admirers. A good boxer is more than a fighter; he's a showman, and Dudley -always- gives a good show.
Tonight's entry is a little more subdued than normal, largely because of the car; Dudley walks out onto the large Dome's field, wearing his usual boxer's outfit (which is not like most boxer's outfits), both gloved hands raised high as he struts in. Yeah. He knows Makoto, a little; fought her last week. The Steamroller Girl... and she packs one hell of a punch, that's for sure. His win last week was a near thing, a product of skill and undying spirit! The other one, Maki... he hasn't heard much about her, though he assumes she's skilled. And then of course there's his teammate, one Ayuhara Natsu.. a... Volleyball fighter. Well, whatever; it takes all kinds. And Natsu will clearly be a hometown favorite.
Dudley takes his spot at the starting area, still turning a slow three-sixty and pumping his fists at the cheering crowd.
The Dome is a nice place for a fight, and Maki's been in many venues for her fights. Whether it's indoors or outdoors, the environment always seems to make a huge difference in the overall quality of the fight. For instance, fighting in a simple field in the middle of nowhere with no observers is kinda dull, while fighting in a stadium like this is better for the morale and adrenaline.
Maki is currently off to the side limbering up before the fight, stretching every part of her body carefully, and making sure she's well warmed up. After all is said and done, she steps over to her starting spot, thinking to herself about the other contestants here. She's heard about Makoto, known as The Steamroller Girl, who's an amazing karate fighter, and while some might question someone so young doing so, Maki thinks it's a great thing, since it shows just how dedicated to her practice of the art she is.
Her opponents are less familiar, since she doesn't know a lot about them. The one she knows slightly more about is Dudley, an English boxer who lives a lavish lifestyle, and always seems to have an air of elegance around him. The other person is Ayuhara Natsu, someone she doesn't know a lot about... except that she fights using her own style with a volleyball? This should be interesting.
Natsu doesn't enter with nearly as much pomp and circumstance as her teammate. She simply walks in. She does have her fair share of admirers however, lined along the back, screaming, yelling, etc. The Taiyo High favorite strolls peacefully past them, she's never been at peace with her popularity, as much.
She climbs into the Starting Area, and nods to Dudley. She begins to adjust the tape on her fingers, doing some last minute stretching exercises to get herself worked up for the fight.
Makoto is sixteen. That's not /that/ young!
Makoto has been to many places to fight, but none of them were auditoriums. She is already well-warmed up, having been here for quite some time so that she could do just that, and is currently just keeping limber off to one side while examining the battlefield itself. At least the footing is nice and even.
Despite being in the right age bracket, Makoto has few people she knows here, although even she has a few fans from recent and not-so-recent fighting. It's hard to pick them out because Natsu's are both louder and a lot more numerous.

Makoto is also not one to wait around when it's time to start fighting.
She is the first to...totally burst into inaction. Makoto takes her spot on the side her team (for certain definitions of team) is starting at, but then remains very still, one hand raised and the other pulled back into a fist. It's her normal defensive stance for Rindoukan; Dudley's seen it before even if the others haven't.
Then she waits and watches. Natsu especially, because she's mysterious and unknown.

Maki doesn't hold anything back when fighting either. So it looks like Makoto and her will make a good team.
When the action starts, Maki focuses on her two opponents. Indeed, Dudley is a boxer and Natsu uses her own volleyball fighting style. Indeed, two unique fighters, both of whom present unique challenges.
Maki does nothing, but instead focuses her mental energy on what to do next.

Natsu assumes her ready pose as the action is called to order. She looks over at her partner briefly, the tall girl hunching over, arms lazily hanging from her shoulders to the ground. She looks across the way at both of her opponents, sizing the unknown fighters up. Hopefully she can do better then last week.
Natsu pulls a volley ball out, and leaps into the air, long legs extending before her. She throws the volleyball up, and, making a fist, she smacks the ball hard, plying in the direction of Maki. "Serve Spike" She calls out, landing on both feet as she attacks.
Hmm. With the other two putting on a non-show and Natsu taking on Maki, guess that leaves Makoto for Dudley. The boxer rolls his shoulders and decides to get the show on, darting forward with surprising swiftness for a large man.
"Call if you need help!" is called over his shoulder, cheerfully, and with his fists up, he closes in on the Steamroller Girl; he comes on bobbing and weaving, and when he closes to within arm's distance, he fires off a single right shot. Not quite a jab, not quite a straight, it is between the two, a punch blending speed and power. Yes, he knows she can take the hit.

Makoto can take the hit, but that doesn't mean she wants to.
She brings up the forward hand to catch the punch in her palm, bracing her arm as much as she can and more stopping the fist than deflecting it. "Haa!" she yells, as she attempts to turn the grab into a grapple with both hands on that extended arm of his. She doubts that boxers are good at grappling.
Of course, if she manages it, all she does is immediately toss him to the ground, putting her whole body into the throw.
That volleyball spike really does a lot more than just show off good skills. In fact, it hits Maki right in the stomach, despite her efforts to dodge it. But in doing so, she tightened her stomach so that the ball doesn't hit as hard as it could have. Nonetheless, Maki is now convinced that this woman's volleyball fighting style is not only stylish, but it's also powerful.
So Maki decides to demonstrate an attack out of her personal style. Unlike Natsu's, though, this is nothing fancy. Instead, it's simply a strong kick aimed at the woman's stomach, just like her volleyball was.

Natsu's eyes follow the volleyball as it smacks into Maki. She winces a bit, but keeps her eyes on the girl, holding her arms up in front of her as she sees Maki's kick coming.. She manages to get her arms in front of it, and absorb some of the blow as she does so. Natsu breathes deeply. Using the force of the previously incoming kick, she extends her arm around, thrusting a fist at Maki's chest.

Wow. That--hurt a lot more than he thought it would. But that's alright; pain is part of the process. Dudley is flipped around and he lands hard--but not hard enough to put him down. He twists as he lands, getting his feet under him; it doesn't cushion the shock but it lets him spring upwards as he fires off a quick, short uppercut at Makoto's chin. He wants to rock her back if he can, force her to think about what she's doing... maybe make her think -too- much. But one thing's for sure; he's probably going to try to avoid her throwing him like that again.

Makoto's response to Dudley coming up almost under her is to scoot backwards - and then, when he actually rises, to rush forward again. This means that she takes the uppercut, although not as solidly as Dudley might hope since it clips her chest rather than her chin, but manages to deliver a running punch her left hand. This is something he's seen before; it comes out fast and strong.
She assumes her previous guard position afterwards, but mirrored, raising her left hand up and pulling her right hand into the fist.

Natsu's speed is faster than Maki can even react, so it's a wonder that she is able to raise her arms to block the incoming punch. Her arms take most of the punch, but fortunately they're tougher than her chest (no jokes either!) so it doesn't hurt as much as it could've.
While she's still in close quarters, though, Maki decides to utilize the situation and administer a medium powered throw on Natsu. If she succeeds, Natsu will find herself being thrown to the ground.

Natsu overextends during her punch, her weight too far forward on her feet when she connects with Maki's arms. She tumbles with the girl's throw, landing behind Maki, she rolls backwards, and attempts to grab Maki's waist. If she succeeds, she will continue to roll along the ground, throwing Maki across the auditorium.
Ghnnn. Dudley -isn't- underestimating his opponent; she's very strong. But so is he.. and she isn't taking no damage from his attacks. Still... he's got to change something, here. Dudley withdraws, with a faint smile--almost a smirk, but not quite--backing up about twenty yards.
"A very good punch... for a karate girl," he says, by way of backhand complimenting... and he certainly means it. It was a very good punch. But maybe he's also trying to rile her up... get her offbalance, somehow.

"It's practice!" Makoto says; she is actually pleased by the compliment but here, in a fight, she doesn't let it show. "You do pretty well too - but you're a boxer," she adds; she /expects/ boxers to be good at punching.
Now, if he starts kicking her, that would impress her more.
Seeing as he backed up, Makoto edges forward before breaking into a sprint - but toward Natsu, not at Dudley at all. "Haaah!" she yells, leaping several yards back and flying quite neatly over the pair, immediately spinning after she lands and delivering a wide arc kick toward Natsu as she tumbles.

There's no way Maki would be able to avoid that attack in time, so she simply braces herself for the attack, and when it does land, she finds herself being thrown quite a bit, but she manages to catch herself just as she lands, and rolls a little before getting back onto her feet.
Seeing that her teammate is focusing on Natsu, Maki decides to show the boxer what she's capable of. As she rushes towards him, she abruptly drops onto her hand and spins around while propping herself up on one hand while yelling, "Bushin Senpuu Kyaku!"

Dudley... gets kicked. Powerfully kicked, in fact... But the damage wasn't that bad at all, and frankly... he's not interested in Maki right now. Makoto hurt him worse in her initial go and he wants to pay some of that back to her. So the spinning kick knocks him away... and he strains his bulk to turn around in midair and... attempt to drop right onto Makoto's head via the simple expedient of a powerful elbowdrop.

The straight volleyball hits Makoto in the stomach with a solid /whump/, causing her to drop out of posture for a split second. The split second is just enough for Dudley to capitalize on, though, and the elbow drop connects solidly, sending Makoto to the ground heavily.
It takes her a moment to recover, but she does; she rolls to the side, scrambling back up to her feet and breathing heavily. That really stung! She takes a few moments to get ahold of herself, keeping her distance and, this time, /staying/ in her proper defensive posture.

Looks like Dudley learned that Maki can really kick butt in more ways than one. Then she sees her teammate get pounded on rather hard, and a frown forms on her face, still gazing at her ally, before turning to look at her two opponents, trying to decide who she should take on next.
After a moment, she shrugs and runs toward Natsu and raises her fist in an effort to deliver a medium strength punch at the woman's gut.

Natsu sees Maki out of the corner of her eye. She's getting a bit better at detecting these blind-siding attacks. Unfortunately, she still doesn't get her guard up at the same time. She takes Maki's punch in the chest. She doubles back a bit, then throws a long, powerful leg into the air, hoping to connect around Maki's body.
Well, that unorthodox strike hit; and fairly punishingly, although not a badly as all that--it hit enough to make Makoto want to take pause for a moment, and while Dudley can appreciate that, he also has to try and punish it--letting her just take a breather isn't a good idea, now, is it?
To that end, he lunges forward, ducking low, powering himself forward on his strong legs, transferring momentum to a punishing right straight, aimed for Makoto's forehead.

Makoto doesn't take this posture for fun, and despite her recovery period, she didn't drop her guard to do so - not at all.
When Dudley tenses, so does Makoto, bending her legs slightly as she prepares to go up or down, depending on his approach. His approach is high, so Makoto goes low, ducking all the way down before coming upwards with a surprisingly fast upward strike from her leading hand. She grunts as Dudley's straight clips her as she rises; it can't be helped, and she's fairly sure her blow was stronger.

Maki sees the kick coming at her, and thinks that if she times it just right, a carefully timed punch will teach Natsu to try something like that on her. That is, if it were to connect.
As it stands, poor Maki blows it big time, and not only whiffs with her punch, but is also hit hard in the face, causing her to stagger backwards. Obviously stars are spinning around her head, even though you can't see them. (But she sure can!)
If Dudley were not a man of boundless confidence, he would certainly be losing it right now; Makoto has apparently brought her game to the next level--or Dudley was just deluding himself for years. Can it be? No! Dudley grunts as that punch strikes, knocking him backwards again... and once again he stays back, choosing this as -his- time to take a rest.
He glances at Makoto, his expression wavering between a smile and a frown. He appreciates her skill... but he still believes his is superior. "Like I said... nice punch for a karate girl..."

Seeing that Maki is down for a little bit, Natsu turns, as her leg hits the floor. She concentrates, and seems to be surrounded by a fierly glow. Her legs launch herself in the air. She stares down at Makoto, ans she begins to hurn fiery volleyballs at her, her arm targetting each one, dozens launched in rapid succession at Makoto.

If there is one thing Makoto hates worse than anything else in a fight, it is not Dudley. She doesn't mind Dudley at all.
It is projectiles. She hates those. She hates lots of projectiles more than a few projectiles. She deals with the swarm of volleyballs in typically Makoto fashion: she hits them.
Having never taken volleyball in school, none of them are proper returns and most of them hurt her hands; they /are/ on fire, after all. But she does weather the assault with moderate skill and pose, even if it does make her more than a little sore.
Unfortunately, it also leaves her too far away to return the favour by delivering a swarm of punches. She moves toward Dudley instead. "Now that the volleyball interruption is over, I'll show you the real secrets of my punching!" Makoto takes the last three steps at a run, driving her fist forward toward Dudley's gut before following it up with a trio of faster, chest-level punches and, after a slight delay, one massive upward strike aimed at the bottom of his chin. It would probably look rather familiar. "SEICHUUSEN GODANZUKI!"
She holds the pose afterwards, breathing hard, scarf fluttering.
Maki finds herself not being the victim of another attack by Natsu, since she's apparently decided to target Makoto. Hence the reason Maki's chosen Natsu as her target again. (Or it could be perhaps that Dudley is being targeted by Makoto.)
Nonetheless, Maki quickly leaps towards Natsu and attempts to grab her by the shoulders and administer an aerial throw, while yelling, "Tengu Daoshi!"

Natsu is ready for Maki this time. Or, at least, she thought she was ready. She saw the girl coming, and got down on her knees, ready to bring her arms up into Maki's tum as she leaped in for the throw. Unfortunately, her knee slips as she began to bring her arms up, and she finds herself hurled to the ground by Maki.

Dudley... is just getting owned, apparently. His superior skill, his years of training... perhaps it means nothing. But he won't let it mean nothing; his battered body is not broken yet. He lands hard, then rises to his feet, ignoring the pain attendant therein; he has to believe in himself, he can't let himself be downed, not like this. Natsu is doing just as badly... but there is still hope. He is a Champion Boxer. And so, despite the intense pain roiling his body, he quite simply lunges forward, at Makoto--the center of his focus right now--attempting to just down her with a quick one-two combination punch.

Makoto is not a champion boxer - but she is a black belt in Rindoukan. Rather by definition, she has the highest rank available in it. It should count for something!
Makoto's response to Dudley's combo is to duck the first punch and come up swinging - although in her case, 'swinging' means a strike with the flat of her hand that slides past Dudley's second punch. It isn't powerful at all - but it does knock Dudley's strike out of line enough that she can lean back and just barely be brushed by it.
Underestimating Maki's throw maneuver was a bad idea on Natsu's part, as she's left herself totally open for another attack on behalf of Maki, and she's not going to hesitate to strike again. She waits untill her opponent is back on her feet, and then rushes at her to deliver a strong kick aimed at her gut.

Natsu managed to turn to the side at Maki's kick comes in, absorbing move of the blow with her arm. She looks over to her Teammate, Dudley, who seemed to have gotten hit pretty bad a bit ago. She looks over at Makoto. Well, the volleyball worked once. She throws a volleyball up into the air, but instead of spiking it directly at Makoto, she spikes it up into the air. The ball sails high into the sky, before beginning to fall. It becomes almost meteor like as it falls, directing itself neat Makoto.
... stopped. Makoto is certainly earning more and more of Dudley's respect; and though the jabbing punch didn't hurt it certainly put him off his game, so to speak. Before he can continue his attack, well... Natsu is dropping a bunch of meteoric volleyballs on Makoto. A good chance for Dudley to back off again, which he does, finding that another breather is probably a pretty damn good thing for him... he's got to get his brain into things.

Makoto is not very fast by this point. She is tired, and worn-down; for all that she was holding off Dudley, it pushed her to the limit and it's not easy for her to do it now - not that it ever was.
The speeding ball strikes her in the side of the head and sends her reeling, about to fall over - but Dudley is not far away, and she turns the stagger into a few attacks on him. All kicks; she doesn't jump off the wall like she sometimes does, just brings her leg up in a trio of high kicks before, on the last one, she slips and lands on her side, staying down. Whoof.
That hurt more than she wants to let on.

Poor Makoto has been knocked out! And Maki's not too thrilled about that. In fact, she gives a nasty look in Natsu's direction, indicating that she's really peeved about this whole thing. And she intends to prove it by demonstrating her signature 'Bushin Senpuu Kyaku' on Natsu!

Natsu runs at Maki in a last ditch effort, pushing through her attack, she tries to wrap her arms around Maki's midsection. If she succeeds, she'll execute the old-fashioned Piledriver, as her last ditch move to give Dudley some room.

Natsu's out--but she took Makoto out with her... and now Makoto's trying to take Dudley down. But he won't be having any of that; as awkward as Makoto's attack is, it's pretty easy for him to sidestep and just let her go past. Which leaves him... with Maki. Right. Ninja vs. Boxer. This ought to be interesting... or at least... potentially so. For now, however, Dudley's going to keep his eyes on Maki. He hasn't had much of a chance to observe her, and observation is a good thing...

Dudley's focusing on Maki, who just moved out of the way of Natsu's last ditch attack. A good effort on her part, but not good enough. Nonetheless, Maki's going to take on Dudley now, and it appears that she's willing to use some good old fashioned fisticuffs as she swings for Dudley with a fierce strike.

That certainly -would- be a fierce strike. But Dudley's--Dudley's is just -fiercer-. The moment Maki steps in, Dudley's legs are propelling him forward, his right fist leading as a burst of wind chi swirls around him; he suddenly is just throwing a power right uppercut, lifting off the ground, carrying Maki with him as he punches her into the air, his entire body sheathed in wirling blades of wind chi; one uppercut, two, and a third long uppercut that blows Maki away before he lands... tossing a rose to land atop her body. Normally he might say something... but he's chosen to wait until the fighting's done, today.
That uppercut really does blow Maki away. Or at least it sends her sailing across the fighting area, and down onto the ground where she lays for a moment, dazed and bloodied, but she eventually manages to get back to her feet. It's getting hard for her to keep her vision straight, but that's not enough to stop her fighting spirit.
She focuses on Dudley and takes a deep breath, like she's focusing all of her mental energies, and then dashes at him to unleash a barrage of punches and kicks while yelling, 'Bushin Gou Rai Ha!'

"One punch, girl. That's all you get. One punch." And Dudley proves it; the first punch hits but then he's just jabbing into Maki's face; not a powerful hit but enough to let him slip out of the rest of the rather deadly combination. Suddenly... Suddenly Dudley has control of this match, despite again taking some powerful hits from Makoto...
One punch is all she got, and Maki finds herself rather surprised when a jab interrupts her comibination attack, sending her backwards slightly, but it barely does any harm. Nonetheless, it appears that Dudley's really gotten things on his side, which is why Maki decides to use speed over strength as she goes for the boxer wtih a swift light kick.

Huh. Dudley rejects that kick almost contemptuously; certainly he does so within the context of what it takes for him to deflect that kick. This fight--it's been a little frustrating, not having his groove on 'til the last moments, and perhaps it shows a little as he practically grabs Maki's kicking foot with his gloved hands and shifts it off out of the way.
"Stay -down-," he advises, as he simply tries to end things with a quick punch to the gut.

A punch to the gut is all it takes to send Maki stumbling backwards, and this time, she's going down for the count. She doesn't do anything else, instead just lets the inevitable occur as she drops to the ground.

Dudley nods in satisfaction. Natsu... well, he doesn't know her that well. But she did good. He'll send her a panda in congratulations, his men can find out which dorm room is hers. A panda and a supply of bamboo. He does however confer a bit of special attention on Makoto--respect for the Steamroller Girl who, once again, nearly Steamrollered right over him. Though at least she didn't hit him with Tsurugi.
"You did good," he says, kneeling next to Makoto, "better than I expected. You'll be a great fighting gentleman someday." And then... he's off! The announcers doing their thing, the medics doing theirs.. Dudley's got his own medics, and they are buxom and pret--- er, very skilled.
