As one of the most prestigious universities in the United States, Columbia University has some of the best facilities available, even in the Metro City area. It was a serious coup that Howard Enterprises had the financial clout to get the stage of the university's biggest auditorium reserved for SNF, but the money that they're pulling in from the teeming throng of college students currently gathered to watch this week's three-way battle is probably worth it. Every last seat is full, with some people standing in the aisles in defiance of fire codes, each hoping to get a glimpse of the spectacle to come.
When she first entered the world of Saturday Night Fights, Luise had hoped to use the fighting circuit as a way to covertly collect information on her missing father, Detlev Meyrink. However, over time she has come to actually appreciate the phenomenon for what it is: a grand performance on a world stage. Although her fighting record is not the greatest, the Dancing Butterfly in the Starry Sky is slowly but surely gaining a bit of a following for her graceful execution and pleasant demeanor. Thus she continues to make herself available to Howard bookers for inclusion on the show's program, so that she can continue to improve herself and meet other fighters with goals such as her own.
However, at the moment she is currently sitting at the side of the stage... at a piano, the ratty-looking rehearsal instrument having been wheeled on at her behest for some pre-show entertainment. Eyes closed, the pale blonde beauty is playing a slow, enchanting waltz, letting her fingers do the walking up and down the keyboard. Of course, it's not exactly what the student crowd came to see, but a few are showing some interest.
There's a fight happening today at Columbia University. Apparently it's a mixed martial arts thing. Whoever's fighting here better do their best or they might get schooled! (Cue the rimshot.)
Seriously, it's all about the fighters here who will be on the stage in a little while. One of them is Maki Genryusai, who is off to the side, stretching for her fight. She appears to be deep in focus as she warms up each part of her body. Her face shows calmness, as apparently she's ready for the match.
Mixed Martial Arts. Aren't most fights like this essentially Mixed Martial Arts?
No matter the semantics, D! is here, ready to do battle, and make his way through the latest SNF bout he's become a part of. Looking around at the college students gathered to watch this exhibition, the boxer slowly makes his way toward the fighting ring. He looks toward Luise at the piano, giving her a nod, but nothing more than that. He knows her a little, yeah...but in any case, he quickly joins Maki up on the fighting ring, giving the unknown kunoichi a nod of her own before quickly making his way into a nice quick warmup round of shadowboxing.
Fortunately for her, Luise doesn't need her eyes open to read a situation; as D enters and begins his warmup she can sense the change in the tenor of the moment, reflected in the thoughts of the people in the audience, their sudden expectation and anticipation. Letting the last note of her piece ring through the room with a sweep of the fingers, she gets up to a tiny smattering of applause and then moves toward the other fighters as stagehands wheel the piano off. After all... it would be a pity to see it destroyed.
Giving a nod to both D and Maki, the German woman doesn't waste any time; with a sweep of her long sleeves she leans her torso back somewhat in her typical loose stance, her pointed toes seeming to float over the ground in a flicker of deep blue light. "A pleasure to see you again, Mr. Boxer... and nice to meet you, Miss Genryuusai. Shall we begin?"

Dudley heads to the Atlantic Ocean.
Maki bows to both of her opponents and says, "It is a pleasure to meet both of you. May the best fighter win." With that, she cracks her knuckles and rolls her neck around a little before looking at the two of her opponents and says, "Let the fight begin!"
Once Luise steps in to join him and Maki, D! turns around, quickly settling into his boxing stance. He's rather quick about it too. Seems like he's not about to play around today either. He's got something to prove, much like last time Luise met him. While he does give the two a nod, he really doesn't give way to much more banter. He just tightens his guard, spreads his feet for balance, and hunkers down, ready for the match.
Seeing the onus of starting the match is on her, Luise scans her opponents for a moment, then focuses on Maki. "I'm already acquainted with Mr. D!'s style of fighting, so allow me to test yours, miss!" she says, sweeping across the stage toward the ninja and, spinning to her left, firing out a low kick heel-first toward the back of Maki's calf, intended to knock her off her feet. Not a particularly strong attack, but in Luise's opinion, no song needs a huge brassy opening.

Is that how she wants to start the battle? Well, that's fine with Maki. Unfortunately, Maki's response is a bit mistimed, and despite her best effort to dodge the attack, it's too quick her for, and the kick hits her in the calf. It's not too much of a blow though, and she does stumble a little, but doesn't fall.
"Lucky strike. Let's see if you can back that up?" She says as she attempts to deliver a kick to Luise's gut.
Hrm...well, seems as if D! was ignored for now. THe girls decided to make this into a cat fight. Fine by D!...it gives him a good chance to see how they fight. Sure, he faced Luise before, but it gives him a better sense of it....and for Maki, who he's never seen before, it gives him a chance to see how they move. So...for now, he hangs back, circling the two, figuring out a plan of attack....

Thanking her lucky stars as Maki's powerful kick scythes through the air right where she used to be, the Dancing Butterfly lives up to her name by twirling backwards, away from the ninja's attempt at doubling her over. "There may have been some luck there, true," she concedes, backing up somewhat. "But I have some modest skill to back it up as well."
Turning her attention to the boxer, Luise gives him a faint smile, then starts in his direction, flexing her fingers. "Last I heard, this is a dance for three, not a minuet, sir!" she teases, reaching out a hand for D!'s shoulder. If she can get purchase, the German woman spins, almost like a matador, flipping the boxer into the air with a push of Psycho Power, spirals of blue-white light spinning around his body as he falls.
Maki silently curses to herself as the woman dodges her kick, but that doesn't stop her from being ready to fight. She notices that Luise is going after Heavy D, and rather than attempt a cheap hit, she pauses to focus on her next plan of attack, knowing that the balance can shift at any moment.

It's a good thing D! held back. When Luise comes in, he's ready. After all, sometimes it's best to let your opponent come in first, and take advantage of their mistakes. So when the butterfly comes in to try and grab at his shoulder, D! ducks in, using his other arm to snap a quick sharp punch to her stomach while he wrenches away out of her grasp. It's probably not a serious hit, but it's enough to prevent getting plastered by a nasty throw.
Although she stumbles back, her breath catching from the sudden shock, D!'s punch indeed does not do all that much damage. It's certainly not enough to floor her, as the Butterfly's continual assault on the boxer proves. Maki is forgotten for the moment as Luise laughs, collecting herself and then spinning back at D! in a quick recovery, sweeping her hand down through the air in a vicious shoulder-height chop, the black and silver of her wide sleeves slicing through the air with a faint whistling sound. "You shouldn't rebuff a beautiful woman, Mr. Boxer," she teases. "It makes us feel sad!"
Maki focuses on her opponents and it seems that Luise and Heavy-D are more interested in each other than in Maki. This presents Maki with a dilemma: Should she be honorable and wait her turn, or be a little dirty and go for someone when they're not expecting it?
The answer is the latter, as Maki gets down on one hand and spins around with a foot extended while yelling, "Bushin Senpuu Kyaku!"

Feeling slightly more confident, D! actually comments back to Luise as she attacks him. "Maybe when we're not in the middle of a fight," he says. Even as he takes the chop to the shoulder, it seems like it doesn't do much to him. Forcing himself forward, the boxer surges forward, trying to wing out several hard shots to Luise. For someone so musically atuned too, she might realize that it seems to work to its own sort of rhythm, too. Hence, the name 'Dancing Beat'.

Maki's gambit works quite well, even if it came on the heels of a tough moral decision. D, however, makes a mistake in trying to use rhythm against a musician. Sweeping backward a step, Luise judges the cadence of the first few strikes and then, with a quick thrust of the hand, interposes her fist with D!'s, stopping the attack cold and, with a flick of the wrist, sending him skyward. Before she can respond to him verbally, however, Maki's attack slams into her side, sending the Dancing Butterfly skidding off to the side of the stage. "Our dance may have to wait, sir..." she says, clutching her side and turning to Maki. "Someone else has cut in."
Maki grins as the signature attack works in her favor, and it seems that she's gained the upper hand against Luise, but then she turns her attention to the boxer. "And now that I've cut in, I'm going to show you a few steps of my own!"
With that, she attempts to show Heavy D that women are just as capable of boxing as men are by throwing a fierce strike aimed at the boxer.

So maybe the Dancing Beat wasn't the best attack to use. Alas, D!'s attack is quickly disrupted, and the boxer is sent skyward, turning end over end until he hits the ground again. "NGhh...." He gets up, despite the ringing in his head, and the pain in his back. Just in time too, as Maki tries to snap a quick strike right into him. He's able to get his guard up quick, stopping the attack. "MNhh..." He clams up rather quickly too, instead opting to respond to Maki with a quick, sharp right hand to the face. At least, that seems to be his intention.

Hmm. Luise expected Maki to go for her rather than D, but in truth she's thankful for the brief moment of respite; compared to the other two fighters, the Dancing Butterfly has taken a bit of a beating in these opening moves of the fight. Rather than press the attack, she hangs back and collects herself, hands swaying through the air slightly in some cadence only she can hear. "A little diminuendo, and then we'll move on to the second movement!" she says, cheerfully. It's an exciting fight, after all.

Blocking her strike, huh? Well, two can play at that game. Maki throws her guard up as the punch comes at her, and while it does hurt a little, her defense absorbs most of the damage, and she manages to keep her balance straight. When she lowers her guard, she shakes her head at the boxer.
"You boxers, all you do is punch each other. You can call it a fighting style if you wish, but there is more to fighting than just striking. Like, throwing for example, and I don't mean objects!" Maki then steps towards the boxer and attempts to grab him and throw him to the ground to emphasise her point.

Well, it seems Maki might have a point. While she seems to handily toss up her guard and stop his punch, D! doesn't seem to have an answer for her toss. As a matter of fact, when he's grabbed, he seems to land awkwardly enough that the damage is...well, it's hardly anything for D! to shrug off. Groaning, he rolls off, quickly trying to gain some distance before getting up. Propping himself up in a hasty crouch, he groans. Looks like he's going to have to get a breather here...

Clucking her tongue, Luise decides to take the fight to Maki this time. "Ah, but everyone has their virtuoso instrument, dear girl," the German says in a tone of gentle reprovement. "Some learn to play many songs, others sing only one with inhuman beauty. One isn't necessarily better..." And here Luise lashes out with another swirling kick, this one considerably greater in force than her first move, a roundhouse aimed squarely at the ninja girls' shoulder. "...than the other!"

That roundhouse looks like it could hurt, and Maki knows that she'd better do something about this. Namely, countering the strong kick with a quick kick. It may not be powerful, but it could prove to be helpful in a situation like this.
Unfortunately, even though her foot connects, so does Luise's, and she finds herself stumbling backwards a little, rubbing her shoulder in pain. "Ow, pretty good..." She mutters to her opponent.
Well, at least D! got his breather. But now, he notices that the two ladies are a bit tied up again. While he could just go off and pull one off to tackle with his usual punches, D! knows he has to make an impact, considering the damage he's taken. And what better way then...well....
Rushing in, D! tries to make a break right for the two girls. However, rather than winging his fists out at one or the other, D! instead aims a fist straight down into the ground beside the two girls. The result: a nice, blossoming burst of chi erupting like a geyser in front of the boxer, large enough to encompass both ladies, and possibly send them apart.

Oh, dear. Maki's offensive cuts through Luise's slower assault with ease, showing the ninja's nimble skill and sending the Dancing Butterfly back a step, but much like D!'s punch before, the counterattack isn't enough to floor Luise, merely daze her for a moment. However, it also puts her in good position to plan a little more carefully for the sudden chi assault that comes at her. Tensing, Luise plants her feet and thrusts her hands forward, drawing a circle in the air with them. A glittering, swirling disc of blue light forms with the sound of a musical arpeggio, the shield absorbing the blast and redirecting it at the boxer in a burst of light.
This is one attack that Maki really can't move out of the way of, and defending doesn't seem like a logical thing to do, so the next best thing is to simply prepare herself to take the attack. She firmly plants her feet into the floor and steadies herself, gritting her teeth as the chi strikes her. She stumbles a little more, but she doesn't fall over.
Instead, she takes a moment to focus herself and catch her breath.

Alas, it seems like D! made another bad mistake. Instead of the Soul Flower sending both girls flying, it's him who's sent flying by the force of his own attack, Luise knocking the attack back toward him. "NGHhhh..." Forced into a rather nasty roll backwards, D! groans, hissing in pain. "Dammit..." he mutters, glaring as he's forced to drop back. He really needs another breather of his own again. Otherwise, he's not going to last much longer...

Hmm. It would appear everyone else is taking the moment of rest that Luise herself has already had. Thus she is a little fresher and more alert than the others, perhaps... and is disinclined to let the opportunity in the fight go untaken, polite fighter or no. "My friends, it's too early for an intermission!" Luise chides, dashing back away from both fighters and extending her hand, fingers extended. "Allow me to draw you back into the music with this fanfare."
In a sudden, sweeping motion, Luise slices her hand upward in an arc from floor to ceiling, a sudden, massive blade of purest white light extending from her fingertips, as an extension of her arm straight at Maki. If the ninja doesn't get out of the way, she's going to feel the full brunt of Luise's powers in the form of a searing blade of starlight. "Ah, the light..." the Dancing Butterfly murmurs, drained.

The attack seemed to come out of nowhere and Maki is unable to react quick enough to formulate a plan. She simply tries to dodge in a random direction, but ends up taking the blast rather hard, and it sends her flying off of the stage, a yell coming from her mouth as she lands on the floor beneath.
Luise, however, had better watch out, as one of Maki's tonfa comes flying off just as she's knocked off the stage.

Well...seems D! manages to avoid getting taken advantage of himself...and it's probably a good thing, considering what happens to Maki. That was one nasty blast, it seems. Like a giant blade of light. STill...no time to marvel at Luise's skills. When Maki retaliates after an attack that very well should have incapaciated her, he too comes in. This time, swings forward, coming near enough that he's just out of arm's reach...before snapping out his right hand in a nasty uppercut. The result: a big scattering blast of energy that expands outward from the ground and D!'s own fist toward the poor Ms. Meyrink!

Apparently that attack took a little more out of Luise than first glance would suggest; she is still taking deep breaths when Maki's unexpected tonfa catches her in the side, making her wince in pain... and completely miss D!'s follow up assault, the chi burst splashing against her body and adding to her pain considerably. Her breathing going from slow to ragged in the sudden physical double team, the German doesn't press her attack. "Well... I did my part, now it's your turn."

You'd think that being knocked off a stage onto a hard floor below would knock someone out, right? Well, not Maki Genryusai. Instead, she rolls as soon as she hits the floor and then jumps back onto her feet. Within seconds, she's rushing for the stage and jumping back onto it faster than you can say 'Second Wind!'
She picks the tonfa back up and puts it in the 'holder' on her belt, saying, "I'll just take that," to Luise with a smirk on her face.
She then turns to face Heavy D and says, "Shall we dance?" With that, she rebounds off of a nearby wall and flies at Heavy D with a cry of, "Tesshin Hou!"

Well...D! probably didn't think too clearly on this. However, when Maki flies forward, he charges in, intent on delivering quite the blow to the kunoichi. If Luise didn't finish her off, maybe he could. However, he underestimates just how HARD the sudden rebounding blow Maki strikes him with woudl hit. Despite the palpable pain, and the obvious grimace that besets D!'s face, he surges forward. Swiftly, his hands move, snapping out in rapid jabs, moving swiftly, gracefully...almost as if he was punching right through the air. SO fast, one might even see trails of shadows around his arms as they snap at Maki. Best be careful not to get caught in the assault....

Taking in a deep breath, Luise looks up to see her opponents going at it with no small amount of fervor, and she chuckles. "I am a bit of a hypocrite, I guess," she murmurs, flexing her fingers and looking to get back into the fray. "So I can't sit here resting on my laurels forever."
D!'s attack on Maki does not look like it's going to present an opening for the Dancing Butterfly, but it might leave him open to attack after he strikes at Maki. Spinning about, she lashes out with a quick, simple knifehand to the side. Nothing fancy, but once again, she's played her blaring fanfare... time for a quieter etude. "Hoh!"
How Maki managed to avoid that attack is anyone's guess, but it could be the ninja blood in her that helped. Nonetheless, she dodges Heavy D's attack and then takes a moment to size up the situation. Seeing that Heavy D and Luise are having at it with each other, she decides to take a moment to catch her breath again.

Gritting his teeth as his Shadow simply...well, ends up as shadow boxing, D! pulls back. Only to face a quick knifehanded strike by Luise. Sure, the attack is easily blocked an absorbed by the boxer's guard, but it's still enough to remind him of the pain he's currently in. Too many options arise as to what the boxer could do right now...but he can only decide on one. And at this point...all D! can figure on doing is pushing forward, and attacking. ANd that's exactly what he does, hammering after Luise with a barrage of maddening hooks, jabs, body blows...and one final lunging punch that he sends lancing out toward Luise.

Perhaps Luise didn't take enough of a break after the severe beating she received before, and it shows as she is totally unable to evade D!'s assault, each blow raining punishment on her already frail constitution until the final simply proves too much for her, sending the Dancing Butterfly skidding toward the wings. "Well done..." she encourages, extending one hand while the other clutches her stomach. "However, I still have a finale to play before the final bow." Sweeping her hand up, she repeats her previous blade of starlight, only this time it's Heavy D! who's on the receiving end, rather than Maki.

Looks like Luise is out of the fight, which leaves Maki in a one-on-one situation against Heavy D. There's not a lot to say about this whole thing, but nonetheless she turns to face the boxer once again.
"And now, it's just you and I in a traditional one on one fight to the finish!" And then, without missing a beat, she literally leaps into the air and then flies at the boxer with her foot extended.

At the rate D! is moving, he seems to be...wellk, on a roll. As such, after he manages to pummel Luise to the end, he manages to keep moving at his rapid pace. Not only does he somehow slink away from the last strike of Luise's energy blade, but he manages to sneak away from the flying kick Maki sends at him. However...even he realizes he can't keep up this kind of pace. As such, he drops back, pulling away from Maki. Time for yet another breather...

It looks like Maki mistimed her attack, but that doesn't mean she's giving up. After all, when you fight, you fight to the finish. And when Maki sees that her opponent is taking a breather, does that mean she's going to take a breather as well? No! She's going to show him what it means to be fighting to the finish with a reprise of her signature Bushin Senpuu Kyaku!

Well, that seems like a mistake in retrospect. D!, in the midst of his rest, ends up taking the signature kick of Bushinryuu right in the mush it seems. "NGhhhhh..." Sent reeling, D! is left in a heap of sorts. However...that same crazy glint in his eyes that he had when he took Luise out returns...and thus, the same result: the insane barrage that he felled Luise with is sent after Maki this time, full intent toward giving her the knockout blow.

The D. Crazy is something that Maki intends to avoid, but fails in doing so. She finds herself on the receiving end of a hurting barrage that sends her staggering back yet again, and she almost lands on her rear end. But that's not the spirit Maki has inside her. Instead, she keeps her balance, partially due to the fact she stumbled into a nearby wall.
Still feeling her adrenaline flowing through her, Maki rushes at Heavy D with the intent of hitting him hard with a deeply aimed strike.

Alas...despite hitting her with the D. Crazy, Maki is still up...and as much as he exerts himself in that attack, D! can't seem to respond to the attack Maki sends out in response. Oh, he tries, he really does, hoping to grab Maki and pummel her with a few well placed body shots...but that doesn't happen. Instead, D! is struck with a deep strike, one that sends the boxer almost doubling over in severe pain. He's on his last legs now, and it seems all to obvious at this point.
Heavy D is running out of steam, but so is Maki. One of them has to fall sooner or later, and Maki is intent on making that moment come sooner than later... for Heavy D that is!
Without any hesitation, she thrusts her leg forward with a strong kick.

Somehow...someway...D! manages to avoid the shot. Slipping underneath with a well placed weave, D! ends up twisting his upper body enough that the leg JUST misses him. In fact, it grazes the boxer's chest by just a hair's breadth. Still...D! can't let this opportunity go...and with a quick twist back, he drives his right arm down in a sharp overhand punch, hoping to strike Maki right in the hip of her extended leg and send her falling and packing.

Even in her weakened state, Maki is not going to let her opponent get the best of her, no matter how powerful they may be. So when she sees her opponent parry and then try to retaliate with a strong attack, she rolls to the side out of harm's way. It may not be easy for her to do in her wounded state, but any way she can keep herself going is worth the effort.
Without warning, Maki jumps into the air and bounces off a wall and then literally flies toward Heavy D, intending to grab him and, if she succeeds, perform a flip-like throw.

D! is grabbed....that's for sure. AFter he misses with the Rock Crush, he can't help but be grabbed, especially after missing such a crucial strike.
But he's not out of it. As soon as he's grabbed and dragged into the air, D! pulls his right arm back...and just as Maki's about to throw him off, he strikes. ARm covered in the last of his energy, summoned up in a sheath of chi, he breaks out of her grasp and lunges into her with one big straight punch, hoping to drop her and drive her right into the ground...even if it means jamming himself into the ground as well.
Unfortunately, Maki underestimated her opponent, even in his weakened state, and she finds her attack being turned around for the worst, and the next thing she knows, she's the one being slammed into the ground.
Unfortunately that really hurts, and this time it doesn't look like Maki's going to be getting up from this one.

And with that...D! stands triumphant.
...well...kneels triumphant is more like it. Even as he's declared the winner, he's barely able to get up, only able to rise to one knee to lift a fist up in victory...before slumping back. That fight too WAY too much out of the boxer....
