Description: Fighting on the middle of the Golden Gate Bridge, Hinako probably would have had better luck facing off against rush hour traffic with her sumo skills than attempting to defeat Kyo. Even if there is an unusual lack of flame involved. (Winner: Kyo)
Six lanes wide and nearly 9000 feet long, the Golden Gate Bridge is a landmark that's recognizable to a great many people around the world, but particularly well known by audiences here in the United States. And Americans like to see a good fight just as much as everybody else. And with the amount of publicity involved with a tournament of this scale... Well, let's just say that there are very few things that aren't possible.
Things like shutting down the bridge in both directions to clear the road for a fight. Granted, they waited until fairly late in the evening, but there are so many powerful lights strung up around the center of the bridge that it might as well be the middle of the day. An area two hundred feet long and spanning the entire width of the bridge has been set aside for the fight, and the crowds are lined up right against the edge of that area, eagerly jostling one another for a better view. A smaller fighting area might suffice, but for liability purposes it was considered a good idea to give the fighters some space.
Standing near the center of the area, Hinako Shijou takes a deep breath. This is a serious fight, and one she absolutely has to do her best in. She's dressed in a Seijyun gym uniform, with a mawashi worn on top of it. A white headband is wrapped around her forehead, the tails of it trailing behind her with her long blonde hair. Staring at the ground a few feet in front of her, she slams her fists together several times while mumbling encouragement to herself. She knows she's a bit out of her league here, but that doesn't mean she's going to give up without a fight!
Standing a good distance away from Hinako, right in middle of the bridge, is her opponent for today. Against opponents of this level, he has been fond in the past of asking whether or not they have enough strength to "make him burn," use his flames. Today it seems like Kyo Kusanagi has much of a choice; after being soundly beaten into submission by Geese Howard weeks ago, he hasn't been able to call forth the flames he's so infamous for.
It hasn't been an easy time for the so-called scion of the flames leading up to the World Warrior tournament, even after his father gave him some much-needed advice and his arch-rival Iori Yagami practically spat in his face and said that he is no longer the heir to the Kusanagi legacy, Kyo still hasn't found whatever it is he needs to get back his powers. He wasn't even sure if he should enter the tournament, but since nothing else has worked...
Kyo pulls on his gloves out of habit, even though their function as protection from his own flames will not be very useful in this fight, it seems. "So, you're my opponent?" he calls out, rhetorically. His voice is a little hard to hear with the winds whipping over the surface of the bridge.
Hinako's quite unaware of Kyo's current limitations; she only knows what she's seen of his fights in the past. And the /kinds/ of people he's fought. Still, the power of sumo should be at least enough for her to give a respectable showing tonight. Whether or not Kyo was actually expecting an answer to his question, Hinako still nods in response. She gives him a cheery grin and says, "That's right! Hinako Shijou, at your service!"
Even if she's nervous, Hinako is still happy to get the chance to get to fight against someone with such impressive skills. And while she's not fond of fighting against people who throw flames, it's still much better than fighting against people who use swords or knives.
A moment later, loudspeakers rigged up around the bridge crackle to life and voice calls out, "Ready, fighters? On your mark, get set, go!" Hinako gives Kyo a quick bow, and then she's off like a shot. As far as she knows, she's got to close the distance between herself and Kusanagi quickly, while she's got the chance. If she does manage to get in close to him, the sumo reaches out in an attempt to snare Kyo by the waist and hurl him up into the air.

It's a quick rush, but nothing Kyo can't handle; he might be without his flames right now and suffering through a crisis of confidence, but that doesn't change the fact that he's honed his reflexes against some of the top street fighters in the world. He drifts out of Hinako's reach, subtly shuffling backwards such that it doesn't actually look like he really moved at all. He isn't sure what Hinako was going for there, since there's no way a little girl like her would be trying to body slam him!
Regardless of his difficultly in determining Hinako's fighting style, Kusanagi doesn't let that slow his counterattack. One of Kyo's legs shoots up until it's pointing nearly straight up. The sumo girl might think he missed trying to strike her under the chin with his toe, but it's a feint; the leg careens back down, the heel of Kyo's boot directed towards the top of Hinako's right shoulder.

Hinako's legs shudder for a moment as Kyo's foot slams into her shoulder, but it's not enough to drive her to her knees. That casual blow, however, serves to confirm Hinako's suspiciouns about Kyo's abilities. She's in some serious trouble here. Hopping back for a moment, Hinako begins circling around Kyo, still in her slightly crouched fighting stance. She needs to come up with a plan, and she needs to come up with one fast.
An occasional step forward is meant to keep Kyo off guard, but keeps being followed by a quick hop backwards or to the side. Hinako's fighting style may reolve largely around running at your opponent and crashing into them, but that doesn't mean you want to run face first into a punch.

Kyo stands in place, only pivoting his head to keeps his eyes on his opponent as she circles him, and at her little hops and sidesteps he only looks a little exasperated, exhaling slightly before becoming a blur of motion. After launching off his back foot and scraping some asphalt into the air in a plume behind him, Kyo is right in Hinako's face within an instant. Only for an instant though, since he ducks to gather up momentum for a rocket-like uppercut that follows soon after.

This could be going better for Hinako. She /tries/ to ride out Kyo's attack, simply letting herself fall backwards as the fist impacts with her chin. It doesn't quite work out that way, however, as she's sent staggering backwards from the force of the blow. Shaking her head quickly, she lunges at Kusanagi once more, this time trying to wrap an arm around his waist. There's not even time to praise him for his skills if she wants to have /any/ chance in this fight. It's going to take a lot more than this current plan of slamming Kyo through one of the guard rails between the road and the sidewalk if Hinako actually wants to /win/, though.

Once again Kyo evades Hinako's grasp, this time by merely twisting his body around, preventing her from getting more than one arm around him and thus denying her any sort of grip with which she could use to toss him around. Then he uses the momentum from the spinning maneuver to segue right into a side kick which he aims at the small of Hinako's back.

When Hinako's arm slips away from Kyo she quickly draws it back, twisting herself in order to rush at him with a shoulder charge aimed to slam into Kusanagi's chest. Unfortunately for her, he's still moving as she attempts to hit him. Kyo's foot drives into Hinako's back, and he's already far enough off to the side that the little extra push is easily enough to send her stumbling right past him instead of connecting.
Hinako quickly tries to come to a stop and turn herself around to face Kyo again, but she's already lost several precious seconds thanks to that slip up.
Kyo might have been able to finish the fight right then, as Hinako is definitely getting slower to recover, but instead he just stands there and looks at her sidelong, while hooking one thumb on a belt loop. "Heh... despite your cute looks you really go for the weak spots, don't you?" He smiles disarmingly, "It was just bad luck getting matched up against me in the first round..."

Despite the beating she's been taking, Hinako hasn't really looked all that upset... Although now she does look a little bit annoyed. "Sumo is an honorable martial art with a long tradition! And going for an opponent's weak spots is only natural when it comes to fighting!" She has no complaints about being called cute, however.
At this point, it's clear that Kyo can get away with simply toying with Hinako until she drops. She's simply not capable of standing toe-to-toe with someone of his caliber. But... It's always possible that he might make a mistake. So all Hinako can really do is throw everything she's got at him, and hope he slips up.
Leaping up at Kyo, Hinako attempts to grab him by the face, then use her momentum and the strength in her arms to slam the back of his skull down into the blacktop. It's fairly easy to read and has a lot of recovery time... But all Hinako has going for her at this point is a desperate attempt to at least hit Kyo once in a way that he'll actually feel.

Kyo blinks, looking at Hinako incredulously. After all, she couldn't be more than 100 pounds, there's no way she'd be able to throw somebody like E.Honda around! "Su...Sumo?! Are you kiddin-GACK!" The shock of Hinako's revelation gives the girl enough time to latch onto Kyo's face and slam him down against the pavement of the bridge. A solid hit, especially with the ear-splitting *CRACK* it creates.
However, closer inspection reveals that Kusanagi was able to prevent the back of head from being pushed into the cement, dulling most of the intended damage. This is further evidence by the speed at which he collects his legs underneath him, springing off them upwards, high enough that his body gets lost in the sun at the pinnacle of he leap. As gravity takes effect he dives back down towards Hinako, leg first. Though this time the target of his leg's heel is (mercifully) the sumo girl's other shoulder.
Hinako blinks up into the lights as Kyo launches himself into the air. Where did he- oof!
Hinako hits the ground hard after Kyo's foot slams into her shoulder, this time at an angle and with the help of gravity. She manages to pull herself back to her feet once more, but she's wobbling pretty badly now. Still, she's a sumo until the end. And if she could keep her hands on Kyo for more than a moment, she'd let him see just how easily she can handle someone of Honda's size. Lifting Kyo over her head wouldn't even make her break a sweat! Grabbing him in order to do so, on the other hand...
If nothing else, though, Hinako is at least persistant. Once more she charges at Kyo in an attempt to grab him, this time trying to drag him down toward her and slam his face into the street. She'll show him just what a sumo can do, or die trying! (Or get beaten unconcious trying, more likely.)

Kyo's boots touch the pavement lightly as his leg rebounds off Hinako, hitting her hard again. His victory is all but assured now, but against an overmatched opponent it means nothing. He exhales and straightens himself, watching the so-called Sumo wrestler pick herself up, and as she does so he explains: "Like I said it was just your bad luck... I'm trying to find something out by fighting in this tournament, but I'm not going to find it fighting against a low-level opponents." He turns towards her, "I'll end this with my next move."
Sure enough, Hinako charges straight at Kyo, and the results are similar to the all the other times she's done this. Which is to say, not exactly positive: This time Kusanagi snatches the hand Hinako is trying to grab his face with by the wrist and gives it a simple turn, completely re-directing her movement with a Judo-style throw. Something he picked up from his buddy Daimon. Once Hinako hits the ground on her back, he kneels to the ground, and socks her right in face!
Or not. His knuckles stop an inch or so away from her nose. "Just kidding." He murmurs with a roguish smirk, "Wanna stop now?"
The back of Hinako's head hits the ground pretty hard when she impacts, but her vision is already cleared up in time to see Kyo's fist rapidly approaching her face, then suddenly stopping. Althoug she doesn't see that last part at first, when she flinches and closes her eyes. She opens them again after a moment, though, to see Kyo leaning down over her and smirking.
Hinako's hands twitch for a moment. He's /right there/, and his posture doesn't really lend itself to a proper defense, because it's clear that he's already won this match. She's got enough in her for one last charge, she knows it... But even if Kyo is a bit arrogant, he's still been relatively nice. Hinako could have come out of a fight with someone this powerful in much worse shape. And so she just drops her gaze and slowly nods with a sigh. "You win."

Kyo smirks again and stands up while offering Hinako a hand up off the ground. "Sumo huh?" he says, scratching the back of his head with his free hand, as if trying to figure that one out. "Whatever works I guess... but then I'm used to fighting schoolgirls who are more than what they seem." He says with a shrug.
