The land of Africa has been no stranger to war; in fact, even now, many nations still engage in their own bouts of terrible and savage civil war. Oftentimes, 'radicals' and extremists employ the use of especially vicious weaponry... such as minefields. But when the civil wars end, when the rebel camps are stomped out, those minefields still linger as a testament to what occured before. They are numerous and they are dangerous. And when Iori Yagami was informed of the perilous setting for his next SNF match, he only had one thing to say about it:
"... Whatever."
Of course, Yagami had been warned not to stray too close to the field before the match started; the field is deadly, after all. But that hardly stopped him from strolling right in. Currently perched on a chunk of rubble only a few feet from the old stone building just beyond, the last of the Yagami clan seems to look relatively apathetic about the entire scenario. Leave it to Geese Howard to pit him against /these two/ of all people in a setting like this. Maybe the Syndicate leader is hoping they all kill each other. And who knows, maybe they will.
Iori wouldn't really have any qualms over ripping either of his opponents to shreds.
For now, though, Iori waits. Hands in pockets, expression sour, the Orochi-cursed young man just stares up to the cloudless sky as the sun beats down on him. "Heh." This'll be interesting, at least.
Kain R. Heinlein doesn't spend much time in Africa, although he has begun to extend feelers into the continent. A lack of law and order in many of the countries does make them convenient for certain activities, it's just a question of whether or not they have the value to warrant spending resources on them. This isn't a business trip, though. Kain is here to fight, and see if either of his opponents have continued to improve in strength.
Despite his wealth, Kain doesn't go for an ostentatious entrance by dragging something like a limo all the way out here. No, he merely arrives in a military model jeep, without even someone else to drive it. The part that makes it flashy is the direction he's approaching from; through the mine field, and at high speed. The jeep zigs and zags its way past the buried dangers of the field, before finally reaching the edge and screeching to a stop.
Calmly climbing out of the vehicle, Kain brushes at a miniscule speck of dust on his jacket, the only sign that he's been driving through the dry terrain. He glances in Iori's direction, and does deign to give Yagami at least a brief nod. No need to get him pissed off and start the festivities early.
War.. is hell.
At least, that is something Vega has heard before. Somewhere. To him, it's opportunity, a cance to grab power, wealth, and to secure a stranglehold on goods and services. Best of all, it brings out the worst in men - those feelings of anger and despair, that slow descent to a numbed horror due to the tragedies and pain of war feeding his psychotic urges quite nicely.
The others have arrived by vehicle, by foot - and as there is no sea nearby, Vega arrives by air. The drone of a plane flying at low altitude nearby can be heard, rapidly closing ground. Eventually, the Shadaloo leader's VTOL passes overhead, the skull-and-wings emblen gleaming in the light. Vega leaps from the plane, landing with a burst of psychopower to absorb any impact. As he lands, he looks between the two warriors, and grins. Oh, how interesting this should be. "Welcome, Gentlemen! So good to see you again so soon!"
Kain. Vega. Two of his least favorite people. Which is saying something. But Heinlein is acknowledged with a nod of return upon the blonde-haired man's entrance. As Vega appears in such a flashy fashion, however, Iori just turns his dark-eyed stare towards the man... and frowns. Bag of hot air, that guy is.
"Hmph."
Slowly, Yagami stands from his sitting position, pushing off the piece of rubble. His right hand lifts, moving to the back of his neck to rub and crack it in an idle gesture. Iori is in a better mood today -- relatively speaking -- though the prospect of this fight is rapidly souring that fragile tranquility in his mind. He looks to Vega, and then to Kain, considering each. And then, he grunts unpleasantly.
"Let's just get this over with, alright? The showboating doesn't make you any less pathetic, 'Lord' Vega." This is followed by a wry smirk. It seems that though Kain may not wish to anger Iori too soon, the Yagami heir has no qualms taking jabs at Vega. He just wants to be done with this. Minefield. Hn.

Oh, Kain has no problem with making Iori angry. Not now that the fight can begin. Although Yagami does have a point. "Indeed, let's begin this." It's a bit of a toss up as to /how/ to begin, though. Both of Kain's opponents are skilled fighters, and they aren't standing close enough to one another to attack them both at the same time. Still, Kain has already got his basic plan for this fight laid out.
Turning away from his two opponents, Kain rushes right back toward the minefield. A powerful leap takes him into the air, deep within the danger zone. Twisting around in mid-jump, he lashes out with one hand in Vega's direction, sending a blast of purple fire racing toward the lord of Shadaloo. He then lands gracefully on the ground, with a definite lack of explosions. Does he somehow know where the mines are?

Vega is unruffled by the jab and poke at his ego. He's beaten Iori recently, so he has no real animosity towards him for his insolence. It's the simple yapping bark of a pesky dog that bites and growls ineffectively at all who pass nearby. Eventually, someone will put the dog down for their own safety. Eventually.
For now, Vega follows Kain into the minefield - attempting to prepare for the battle to come. Kain's attack catches Vega slightly off-guard, and as he leaps into and through the blast, it singes and crisps his uniform, the fire making it hard for him to see. The damage it does is magnified by what else it does, skewing Vega's landing, and making his foot come down too near to one of the minds. There's a muffled 'WHUMPF!' and a geyser of dirt and spray. When it settles, Vega still stands, though he looks distinctly displeased. "Hnn. An interesting choice for battle, don't you think? Perhaps you should enjoy the fun as well, Yagami?" Instead of attacking his attacker, Vega attempts to draw Iori into the joy as well, raising his hand, which is now wreathed in purple psychopower. Spots in the ground echo that eerie aura, and then a passel of mines rip out of the earth in sympathetic motion. Balancing them all with the power of his MIND, Vega turns and twists the mines so they all point towards Yagami - and then he activates them, with a feral grin.
"This side.. towards enemy." *FOOM*

"As if anything having to do with you is /enjoyable./ Go to hell."
The assault that follows is, however, rather surprising. Iori didn't quite expect Vega to use his mind powers to just up and assault him, and it shows in the way that visible eye widens in surprise. Instantly purple fire sprouts from Yagami's hands as he prepares a counter measure. Instead of going on the defensive, Iori does something entirely different -- he rushes STRAIGHT into those mines, and subsequently straight for the Shadaloo dictator, intent on bypassing the explosions and simply tearing into the fool who causes them--
--Except Iori is just a few seconds too short. Those flames his hands are wreathed with are snuffed out short as the explosions catch him and send him rocketing backwards, clothes smoking and flesh singed. He lands about ten feet away from Vega in a crouch, eyes narrowed and frown distinct. It hurts, but perhaps not as much as it might others; Iori is a tough individual. "... That the /best you got/, you thick-headed geezer?"
Well now, you're not all going to go and forget about Kain here, are you? While Vega and Iori are busy facing off, Kain rushes up from behind the dictator in red, a blue glow surrounding his hand as he reaches out for the back of Vega's head. Looks like Iori might be at a bit of a disadvantage here, since apparently both Vega and Kain are aware of the locations of the mines buried in the dirt.
But being aware of the location doesn't help if you're forced into it, and that's just what Kain is trying to do. If he manages to get a hand on the back of Vega's head, he's going to drag the man down and slam him face first into one of the buried mines. Granted, Kain will be fairly close to the source of the explosion, but Vega's chin should be able to absorb most of the blast.

Okay, so rule one of Fight Club is 'Do Not Talk About Fight Club'. Rule number two is 'Do not turn your back on Kain, for he is mighty damn sneaky'. Vega has basically planned on ignoring Kain for the other fighter, and when he is suddenly attacked from behind, he's completely caught off guard. OR SO KAIN MIGHT THINK!
In reality (The reality where Vega is Lord Vega, Supreme, Mighty, blah blah blah) Vega knows about the incoming attack, and is preparing a wave of psychic power strong enough to completely obliterate the other man. The purple energy swirls into being as he's grabbed, and the smirk of 'oh, you're going to get it' turns into a 'oh, crap' look for the split second before Vega's head goes face first into the ground. There's a muffled explosion, and Vega's body twitches as the force rocks him, held down between a Ro... a Kain and a hard place. He'll get up and move in a moment or two.

Forgotten about Kain? Certainly not. And now that his attempt to make Vega feel pain has failed, Iori instead turns his attentions on the Heinlein heir as he rushes across the distance toward the Shadaloo leader. Witnessing the throw, and the subsequent explosion, Iori has one thing in mind to do... and that's jump into the fray and join the 'fun.' Such as it could possibly be in a situation like this.
Iori's attack plan is simple. Rushing right into the heat of the explosion, he intends on swinging with his left fist, to smash Kain across the jaw. It'll swiftly be followed by a vicious right uppercut similarly aimed for the jaw, before both of those clawed hands clasp... and he brings them down savagely, to strike Heinlein right across the back of the head with one mighty hammer blow. "GUWWOOOOOOOOOOH!!"

Kain staggers back from the blows to the jaw, then gets bent over double as Iori's hands slam into the back of his head. He catches himself with one hand on the ground, shaking his head briefly to clear it. Simply standing back up would give Iori an easy shot, so Kain nimbly leaps back as he straightens up, putting some room between himself and Yagami.
He doesn't keep his distance for long, though. Leaping back towards Iori, Kain lashes out with a kick aimed at the center of his opponent's chest. Flames wreathe his leg, ready to leap out and engulf Iori should the kick manage to connect with him.

P'fah!
No, Vega is not Klingon. Nono, he's just spitting the dirt out of his mouth as he rolls back to his feet, into a crouched stance. He watches Iori and Kain go to it, and as the pair battle, he gets an evil little girl. Wiping the last of the dirt crust from his forhead, he brings his arms up and over his head. Into the air, where his psychopower gathers again, and towards the ground, launching him upwards and into the air. After all, if he's up there, it'll be much harder to spike him into the ground and the mines. He aims for Kain's shoulders with the heavy metal of his leg armor - if he's lucky, maybe he'll sink Kain into the ground deep enough that they can treat /him/ as a mine!

There's a small grin of satisfaction on the part of Iori as his series of blows plow through Kain's defenses and strike him solidly, each staggering the other man. He's not so arrogant as to be left defenseless, though; when Kain flings himself back towards Yagami, Iori is quick to respond with the swift fling of his arms into the air; forearms provide a more than adequate defense against those faux flames, absorbing the brunt of the blow as Yagami goes leaping backwards to gain distance. It stings, but that's about it. "Hn." He hates those fake flames. But then --
--Then, there's Vega, flying through the air with intent to slam into Kain's shoulders. And, regardless of outcome; whether Vega is successful or not, Iori runs... and then LEAPS high into the air, intent on mid-air tackling the Shadaloo leader as he snakes out with a single hand, intent on grasping the despot by the face. His hand will be engulfed in violet flames if successful, flames that will envelope Vega's head most painfully before an explosion will knock him into the ground -- potentially, into one of those nearby mines.

Kain's feet do sink into the ground when Vega lands on his shoulders. But his legs and back are tensed, resulting in little actually damage, beyond perhaps some bruises later. This /is/ a rather awkward position to attempt to attack Vega from. Even so, Kain has a little surprise for the Shadaloo lord before Iori reaches him.
Kain stands back up straight, thrusting up with his shoulders as a pillar of flame erupts all around him. Iori's lucky enough to only pass through the edge of it, and as it's fading away. But Vega is right there...

Vega isn't willing to let this be decided by bits and pieces. Oh, no. This is an epic battle, and should be decided epicly. Epicly! The two throwing fire about and around are scoffed at, Vega's half-done attack blocked impressively by Kain's defenses. The shrug of Kain's powerful shoulders tosses the Shadaloo warrior upwards, into the air...
Into Iori's grasp.
Funny thing, though - as Iori's flaming fist wraps itself around Vega's cheeks and brow, Vega doesn't cry out in pain, or even in surprise. He's expected this attack, knowing that they would both have to stand up together to defeat him. In the end, this fight was far too even for the three to have one dominating winner. Someone would have to take the bold move, the glorious leap into their own doom to turn the tide of the battle.
And damnit, Vega is that man. As he's thrown towards the ground, Kain's explosive fire pillar rises to meet him. And Vega dives deep into it's heart, cackling madly as the impact rocks and rips at his spirit and his flesh. In the center, he feels the power surrounding him, and he laughs in it's face, summoning his own, and throwing it right /back/ at Kain. Iori is only lucky that he'd been taken further away. "Do you call /that/ Power, Kain? THIS IS POWER!" he shouts as his own psychopower rips through the fire, detonating the nearby mines in explosions of fire and dirt.
And in the end.. Vega still stands.
Barely.
Now this isn't even remotely what Iori thought would happen. Grasping Vega's head, the Yagami heir immediately guesses what is about to happen; there's something off with the give that Vega allows, the lack of defense. This isn't a team effort, really; this is Yagami just wanting to burn off Vega's face. Yet, as he grasps, and he feels that give... his eyes narrow. This is no good. As soon as the flames explode, and Vega lands, Iori knows that only bad things can happen next.
And it's for that very reason that the Yagami heir begins to leap /BACKWARDS/ as soon as he impacts the ground feet first. Just in time, too, it seems; the sheer FORCE of Vega's next attack is enough to blast Iori into the air simply by merit of being too damn close. He flips through the air, landing in a crouch... but that hateful Psycho Power burns at his mind, that barely discernable feeling pissing him off to know end. He has no idea about what has happened to Kain; frankly, he hopes the man has become little more than a bloody smear. But since Vega still stands? Iori rushes STRAIGHT to the source of that Psycho Power, eyes ablaze with fury. "HUUWAAAAAAAAARGH!!" His right hand lashes out, talons seeking to dig into Vega's midsection. And, if successful, he suddenly SPINS, intent on backhanding the Shadaloo leader straight into the ground.
When the smoke and traces of Psycho Power finally fade away, Kain is sprawled out in a fairly large crater in the minefield. For a moment, it looks like he might have taken too much damage for this fight to continue.
For a moment.
Wisps of blue flame begin to rise across Kain's body, his entire body giving off a bright blue aura. He rises to his feet in one smooth motion, though his head hangs down as he does so. And then he looks up, and the energy bursts out from his body in a wave, sending the rubble of the exploded mines tumbling away from him. Blue fire continues to roll off of Kain as he reaches up with one hand to wipe away the blood trickling into his right eye. That hurt. But if Vega thinks it was enough to take Kain down, well, he doesn't know Heinlein very well.

Pretty wobbly, but still standing.
Vega is near the resting Kain Heinlein now, preparing to gloat, to bully-boy the man around, proclaiming about Shadaloo's signifigance in the world stage, and how his loss would be inevitable. But he can tell that Kain still has fight left in him. And that means he has to shut up, and focus. Focus on fighting, on surviving.. Perhaps, even on /winning/.
Kain misses out on being insulted, but Vega has other fish to fry. As he faces Kain, Vega can feel Iori coming up behind him, the 'HUUUWAAAAAAAAAAAARGH' kinda a dead giveaway. And while his limbs might feel like lead, Vega can still move nimbly, with the best of them. He sways just enough so those talons miss his body, so that the attack falls by the wayside with a slight lean to let the backhand miss his tattered hat and singed hair. "Close, Yagami. But slow. You're too careful. Too cowardly." All the time Vega talks, he tries to regain his momentum, his breath. Like.. doing exactly what he was mocking Iori for. Oops.

"You know what..."
Iori's sudden and swift assault goes just barely evaded, but he doesn't care. Vega's just said the one thing that he really shouldn't have. His claws swipe air, his sudden and swift backhand just barely missing the larger man's face. Close? No crap. He doesn't need Vega to tell him that. But then... /then/... Vega says something he shouldn't. And instantly, Iori snaps.
"... I HATE HYPOCRITES!"
He does not jump back. Iori does not try to gain distance between himself and Vega. Kain, in fact, goes largely /ignored/ as the last of the Yagami attempts to get a firm grasp of Vega by the collar. And then? And then, he's going to rear back his head, and SMASH it into Vega's face in a most vicious headbutt. "GUUOOH!!!" And then again. And again. And again. If successful, Iori's just going to keep smashing his face into Vega's until all that's left is a bloody mess. It seems Iori's finally snapped. Good job, Vega.
Well, isn't that nice of Iori to deal with taking out Vega? Even if he apparently needs at least two attempts to get it right. And Kain doesn't mind being ignored, really. It gives him some time to get his body back to functioning properly. The flames flickering across him begin to fade as he begins to recover enough to function on his own, without having to give his body a jumpstart.
In his hands, though, that blue light is shining quite brightly. Getting brighter as he brings his hands together, palms facing toward his two opponents as Iori attempts to grapple with Vega. The light expands, forming a miniature blue star of pure chi energy, violently roiling about. It's the work of a moment to send it rushing out toward the other two fighters, seeking to engulf them in the inferno.

Iori, don't be a hater.
Vega isn't a hater, see? He's equal opportunity hate. Mostly towards taunting people. As Iori comes in, he spits in the man's face, preparing for the next backhand that the Yagami man seems to favor. And instead.. he takes a forhead to his nose. And another. Another. An.. you get the point. Battering after battering, he attempts to break free and return the favor to Iori - but fails. Until he's let go, that is.
As he tries to attack Iori, he turns his head, blood falling into his eyes, covering them, half-blinding him. In his rage, the spark of Kain's attack catches and holds his attention like a laser pointer to a cat, and the sudden upswell of power from the Shadaloo man makes him explode towards it, fists extended. He blows through the blazing chi, his body rocked by it's power - but it is not near enough to stop the Psycho Crusher from hitting, battering Kain as well. Vega's body tumbles past the other man as his spirit gives up, and he rolls into the minefield. A series of explosions make short work of his visibility - and when and if the dust settles, he'll be gone. He has no more interest in this battle. He's seen enough. And his nose hurts. A lot.

"DIE! DIE! DIE!"
It's a command shouted with each successive headbutt, even as Yagami's own face becomes tainted by Vega's blood. He's not entirely ignorant, though; even his now-feral mind can tell when there is something big, scary and powerful crashing towards him. And almost instantly... Iori snaps out of his brutal one-minded focus of making Vega's face completely unrecognizable to the naked eye. He turns, and then he sees it...
A massive rush of chi. Oh, right.
Kain's here, too.
Iori's right hand boils with violet fire, and soon afterwards, its flung out. The flung fire is like nothing more than a spark, a spark against that massive onrush of chi. But as it flies, the skies above them noticeably darken. And as soon as that spark hits that wave... it EXPLODES with power. Lightning crackles, striking the portion of the broiling chi flames crashing towards Iori, dispersing it. Two other bolts strike out randomly, detonating nearby landmines -- such that Iori cannot see the sudden violent rush that Vega performs, or his subsequent disappearance. No, Iori is howling with rage, hands clenched tightly as he STARES where Kain should be.
"GOT ANYTHING ELSE, ASSHOLE!?"
Kain? Yes, Kain's there. But not for long. He plans on performing a vanishing act similar to Vega's, since Iori isn't exactly known for his discrimination when dealing with defeated opponents. Or, really, injured bystanders, since Kain and Iori have had relatively little to do with one another in this fight.
It doesn't look like Kain is planning on attacking Iori, at first. What could he possibly do by placing his hand on the ground? But then a wave of blue energy rockets outward from Kain's hand, vanishing off into the distance as it spreads out. And then, a moment later... The entire minefield goes off at once. And when it clears? Kain is also gone.

Iori stands there, roaring out another bloodcurdling yell before he goes RUSHING to where Kain was...
... straight through an explosion that brings the nearby ruins into nothing more than rubble.
Fire, schrapnel and rubble all collide with Yagami painfully as he thrusts himself through the field of explosions. His outfit is burned, shirt ruined and body scorched, but he doesn't seem to even care or acknowledge it. All that he knows, is that in the aftermath... there's no one there. No Kain, no Vega. Only Iori.
"... /I'M/ the /COWARD/?!"
And for the next five minutes or so, Iori is going to be hollaring and snarling most distastefully. Assholes, both of them.
