Description: And now, the severe beating of a Yata heiress. Also, this log proves why you should make monthly donations to the Friends of C'Sys fund. (Winner: Kain)
And so the time has come for the final match of this round of the Second Victory tournament. Unfortunately, due to various issues only two of the fighters involved have been able to make it to the match, but between Kain and Chizuru this promises to at least be an interesting fight. A large area in the center of the beach has been roped off, and all the trappings have been prepared for a fight that is likely to involve at least one or two decently sized explosions.
Kain R. Heinlein stands in the roped off section, barefoot out of deference to fighting on the sandy terrain. Aside from that, he's dressed in his usual white suit with blue trim. He doesn't really know much about his opponent, but she must have some skills in order to agree with a one on one fight against him. That, or she's particularly foolish. Either option is perfectly acceptable to Kain. Either he'll get an easy pass to the next round of the fight, or he'll get a nice fight that will let him exercise his skills a bit.
Somehow Chizuru made it this far. If luck is on her side, Chizuru will make it to the top. And then?
Then she can have her chance to defeat Rugal.
But the credit is not hers alone--her teammate did well, but alas he nor her opponent's were able to make it for whatever reason. It disappoints the Yata heiress just a bit; she, however, insists on giving her best in his absence. It's the least she can do, right?
Graceful steps guide the woman to the roped off ‘arena,' her expression calm and patient as she ducks under a rope and enters the ring. Yet when those dark eyes lift and meet the sight of Kain, her expression falters somewhat. There's definitely something about him that unnerves her. It seems very familiar. It's the sort of presence she's felt before.
And she doesn't like it.
Still, she keeps her concerns to herself. She offers a smile to her opponent, bowing her head politely. There's no sense in making assumptions, right? Skilled or not, this woman is his opponent tonight, here on the sands of Sound Beach. Tilting her head a touch as her head lifts, she says, "A pleasure to meet you, mister Heinlein. Please, let us do our best, yes?"
That said she slides into an easy stance; one foot shifts forward, a hand lifting from her side and held out before her. Is that even a fighting stance at all?

It could be worse. At least there's no hint of Orochi in Kain's aura, even if there is plenty of other nasty stuff in there. It certainly doesn't appear to the naked eye, though. Kain gives Chizuru a brief bow, crossing his right arm over his chest. "Likewise." As he straightens back up he lets his arms hang to his side, left hand hooked in the pocket of his pants. Chizuru isn't the only one with a fairly unorthodox fighting stance.
And with that, it seems there are no more formalities to deal with, so it's time to begin. Kain sprints across the sand toward Chizuru, kicking it up behind him as he runs. After several feet he leaps into the air, twisting his body about so that he's leading with a flying kick aimed at Chizuru's torso, a wave of purple flame springing up and spreading out behind him from his foot.

Nasty indeed, but that's the least of the Yata's concerns. Instead she offers a tiny grin before she merely nods, accepting his ‘likewise' as a good enough greeting. The time for talk is essentially over by her choosing; an arm lift and she readies her stance, quietly awaiting his approach, if any.
And soon enough the kick comes, the motion lit afire with that peculiar chi of his. Frowning, the woman attempts to lift her arms and block the strike, but sadly it's not enough; the kick breeches her defense, striking her fiercely and sending her balance off-kilter. A bad start, if any. Still, she can't write herself off yet. That wouldn't be right.
Frowning briefly, the woman shakes her head lightly, the fuzziness dismissed before she lunges forward and crouches low. When she rises it's a double, which leaps up with a fierce blow aimed for the underside of Kain's chin. When all is done and the move executed the double winks out of sight.

Well, /that's/ certainly interesting. Kain blinks for a moment as there are suddenly two Chizurus, one of whom is attacking him. It doesn't throw him off for long, though, as he raises his arms to block the rising attack. And then the double suddenly vanishes. Kain raises an eyebrow for a moment as he looks down at Chizuru. "Interesting..."
No real time to deal with that, though. Besides, it doesn't seem all that likely that she'll want to discuss much with him. She might be trying to hide it, but Kain can already tell that his presence is enough to unsettle her. Which means she either knows something, or can sense something. Either way, she's not thrilled by it. And, after all, this is still the middle of a fight.
On that note, Kain sweeps his arms down toward Chizuru, seperating them as he does so. Trails off flame whip off both of his arms, rushing together to form a wave of purple fire which hopefully sweeps over Chizuru.

He can also manipulate chi in such a fashion? As she steps back she blinks lightly, clearly surprised by his talents with that peculiar energy of his. Still, the woman maintains her ground, her jaw squared as she stands before him, waiting.
And then it comes. And when it does she attempts to turn that energy around and back at him. This attempt--a fluid motion of her arm up, igniting with golden chi before it sweeps down--is faster than she anticipates; thus does that burst of violet chi crash into her, sending her falling back into the sand with an audible oof.
Slowly but surely the woman rises to her feet, head shaking as she presses a slender hand against it.
Not only can Kain manipulate chi like that... But he can keep on doing it. Over and over. On the other hand, Kain isn't too surprised by the fact that Chizuru can summon up chi, even if the whole 'doubles' thing was a bit of a shock. Still, it's just another way of manipulating chi, even if a perhaps unique one. It's pretty hard to slip something past Kain's refined senses for the flow of chi.
Those senses are also useful in combat, allowing Kain some ability to sense things even if he can't see or hear them. Such as when an explosion occurs at short range. Even as Chizuru goes flying back, Kain's hands are once more bursting into flame. Holding them out to his sides, he whips both of his arms toward Chizuru, launching the flames from his hands. The twin orbs of fire spiral around one another as they zoom in toward the Yata heiress.

Relentless is without a doubt an understatement. Just as the woman scrambles to her feet in a fluid motion he attacks her again, launching those vicious flames at her without hesitation. Seeing this, the Yata heiress ducks low and rolls aside, narrowly avoiding the oncoming flames before she stands upright, idly dusting a hand over her garments.
Frowning lightly, the woman rushes forward and lunges at the man, attempting to grab him by the collar in with a circular motion of her hands. Using this momentum she'll seek to throw him aside, into the dirt.

As Chizuru rushes in toward him, Kain casually leans to the side, reaching out with one arm to put it in the way of her grab for his collar. This, combined with the fact that Kain is prepared for the throw, makes it understandably hard to throw him down into the sand. The blond leans back slightly once the momentum for Chizuru's lunge is spent, then lifts his left foot off the ground and lashes out with a straight kick toward Chizuru's stomach. But even this simple attack is enhanced by the aura of light blue chi flaring up around his foot at the point of impact.

Her attempt shrugged off, the woman furrows her brows, features briefly troubled before she takes a step back. It's then, however, that the man makes his move, and with that a kick is delivered into her gut, the chi bursting upon impact and knocking the woman back with an audible cry. Much of the crowd looks on with mild disappointment, wondering why on earth this fight is such a let-down on the Yata heiresses end of things.
Drawing her eyes shut, the woman focuses briefly. Is she overmatched? Perhaps. But still she tries her best to maintain the courage to persevere against such seemingly impossible odds. That's why the woman's eyes snap open and she moves forward, a flurry of arms waving about as her feet move in timed steps. But the real Chizuru lingers behind; recoiling, the woman's hand ignites in golden chi before she lunges forward, fingertips aimed for his gut. And should it impact? That chi explodes in an impressive display of gold.

These projected self-images really are hard to deal with. They can certainly hit hard enough, but does hitting them back even have any effect? Not that Kain gets a chance to really investigate that, as the real Chizuru comes lunge forward, slipping her hand past his attempt to put up a guard. Her fingers drive home, and the explosion of golden chi knocks Kain off his feet. He hits the ground, sending up a spray of sand all about him.
But Kain isn't down for long. And although it's quite obvious that he felt that blow, it seems it's going to take a bit more than that to put him down for good. As he rises back to his feet, there's a glint of blue light in his right hand. That light quickly expands outward to a baseball sized swirling orb of blue chi, and it doesn't stop there. As he points his hand toward Chizuru the speed of growth increases even more, and in just a second or two it's a good five feet in diameter. And that's when it launches toward Chizuru, digging a furrow in the beach as it sends sand flying in its wake.

Again the Yata isn't fast enough. While her attack strikes true and sends the man off his feet, he's up swiftly thereafter, his hands afire with that same uncomfortable chi that bothers her so. And again the woman makes her attempt, a hand swiftly coming down to smack that blast back at him, but to no avail. It plows through, striking the woman and knocking her back a good ways, her form skidding through the sand before it comes to a stop. Then, and only then does the woman rise shakily to her feet, clearly worn.
And when she does she offers a tiny, lopsided smile. "It would seem I've let my team down," she states, furrowing her brows. Not only her teammate, but herself as well. It would seem there will be no final match against Rugal to get that Orochi power he stole back.
Bowing at the waist the woman offers her opponent respect, however uncomfortable his aura makes her. "But thank you, mister Heinlein. You are a worthy opponent. I'm sure we'll be seeing each other in the future." Of course they will. That power of his...
With the fight apparently over, Kain lowers his guard as much as he ever does, and gives Chizuru a quick, shallow bow in return. "You also have a fair bit of skill, as well as some quite unusual abilities. And indeed, I'm sure we shall meet again at some point." Unsettled as she is, it's still possible that she might be receptive to some of Kain's philosophical leanings. And if not, well... It's always interesting to be able to look into new ways of handling chi.
COMBATSYS: Kain has ended the fight here.
