Neo League 051 - #61: Sagat vs Iori

Description: An old castle in merry ol' England is the stage for this climactic battle! Yagami starts off strong, but... (Winner: Sagat)

England -- home to Stonehenge, fish 'n chips, and a whole lot of castles surviving to the modern day. More than many other nations, at least, due to the fact that the country's been able to weather aerial assault with a greater degree of success than most of her European brethren.
There's more than one way to ruin a castle, though. Another would be for two of the most powerful individuals to walk the earth to have an old-fashioned throwdown right in the central courtyard. This being an older castle, less frequented by tourists, the country decided this decrepit specimen of a castle could afford the loss. (It's scheduled for demolition anyway, but don't tell anyone!)
Camera crews are located in strategic locations, but only a handful of spectators are present. It'd be tough to evacuate en masse if the castle started falling down, after all. Iori Yagami stands in the center, glancing about to the others, thumbs hooked idly in the pockets of his leather pants. It's a bit before the time to begin... and he's beginning to wish he'd brought his guitar or something to keep himself occupied.

COMBATSYS: Iori has started a fight here.

Great Britain is not a nation that the former Emperor of Muay Thai has visited often. There's not much interest in Britain for Sagat, as there is interest in Japan. The highest caliber fighters congregate in Asia it seems and Britain is ignored mostly. However, Sagat has made the trip out here... to tour the castles and prospect what exactly this place has to offer. The tours would have to wait though. This old castle is where the Tiger has ended up, and in the courtyard no less. Sagat is in fighting attire, save for the overcoat tha the typically wears. It's unbuckled and hanging open as he walks. Sagat stares towards Iori as he strides further into the courtyard.

COMBATSYS: Sagat has joined the fight here.

Iori's not really a fan either. Variety's the spice of life, though. And when he'd asked for a fight... this is what the Neo League organizers came up with. A few official-type people mill about here and there, but for the most part, they make sure not to get sandwiched between the two towering individuals. One, however, does approach Sagat from the side, meekly offering to take his coat.
Tossing his head to the side to sling his hair out of the way, the red-headed bassist turns his crimson gaze towards the once-and-forever Muay Thai Emperor. "... We meet again, mm?" He snorts lightly, pulling his hands out of his pockets. "At least this'll be an interesting matchup."
His hands curl slightly in anticipation, his shoulders slouch forward. With his feet spread a little further than shoulder-width apart, his standard stance allows for rapid strikes... though Sagat should know firsthand that the Orochi halfblood probably can't hit quite as hard as he.
It's =what= you hit, rather than =how= you hit, though. Iori flashes a confident smirk to the one-eyed man. "Ready when you are."

COMBATSYS: Iori takes no action.

Sagat continues to approach the Orochi Halfblood. His eye narrows and his jaw clenches. Memories of their last fight flooding back in the Thai's mind. It was close. Sagat's thoughts are interrupted by the meek individual offering to take his coat. Sagat grunts deeply at the man and removes his overcoat in a quick motion. He tosses it towards the man pretty hard and looks at Iori. When he says he is ready when Sagat is, that is the Tiger's cue to pounce. Before you know it the fight begins. The Muay Thai God goes after Iori pretty quickly, moving with surprising speed. He leaps into the air and attempts to land a heavy swinging kick at shoulder level with Iori. Also after landing and flinging that kick out, he looks to slam the same knee towards Iori as a means of keeping the other man weary of getting to close!

COMBATSYS: Iori endures Sagat's Medium Kick.

Nodding back to Sagat, Iori actually... doesn't seem to mind as much as he ought to when a gigantic Thai man with enough force to level the entire castle is coming towards him. Partly because he doesn't want to move. And even more so -- partly because he's seen an opening. Most notably, Sagat's trying to kick him in the shoulder -- which means his foot's off the ground. Yagami sees this as a rather vulnerable position to catch Sagat in -- and as such, takes the kick full on in the shoulder.
He wavers slightly, to say the least, but he's one step closer to his goal -- jamming his shoulder forward, snapping his arm around the Emperor's leg, and then sharply jerking off to the side in an attempt to critically disable his knee. Unlikely, mind, given the early stage in the fight, but he ought to get points for gusto. "GURRAAAAAH!"

COMBATSYS: Iori successfully hits Sagat with Strong Throw.

Points for Gusto, Indeed! The Mighty Thai man is brought down, spinning almost by the throw from the Halfblood! Sagat hits the ground, and hits it hard... but he's not down for long. He's only down for a second. The Tiger rolls backwards once he hits the ground. He's back onto his feet in a crouched position within a moment. Apparently his knee is still working fine, "TIGER CRUSH!" Cause Sagat is using it to spearhead his sudden leap off the ground and knee thrust towards the other man!

COMBATSYS: Iori blocks Sagat's Tiger Crush.

Apparently so. Iori doesn't seem terribly displeased, though, silently factoring that into his strategy. The man's tough, and he may very well keep working on that knee later.
Right now, though, he's got the =other= knee to contend with, and it's coming right towards his face. Cowed slightly by the throb of a full-on kick taken on his left shoulder, he instead thrusts his left forearm into the knee strike, withdrawing slightly from ol' One-Eye. "Hm," he mutters in reply, forehead creasing from the blow. Clearly... he'll have to redouble his efforts.
Lunging forward, Iori attempts to slip right past Sagat, but not without dragging his long talons across the man's bared side, aiming to carve four parallel slashes across the man before jerking free, and slamming his shoulder into the Emperor's back. A tall order... but weaker opponents have fallen to the practiced technique. "GURAAAAH!"

COMBATSYS: Iori successfully hits Sagat with Saka Sakahagi.

The Mighty Thai isn't appearing so mighty. Iori managed to toss him handily, and now the Halfblood rakes the big man and then slams into his back. Sagat stumbles forward and grumbles. His arm is raised and he wipes at his brow with the wrappings of one arm. he turns his head and glares towards Iori. That eye narrows into a little slit and he launches forward. He lunges with another knee strike and if that connects, he hopes to drive an elbow down into the other man's back or shoulders!

COMBATSYS: Iori blocks Sagat's Medium Punch.

Iori's already on the move after his attack, his boots clomping loud across the castle's weathered stone floor. Spinning to face Sagat again, the Orochi halfblood meets the knee strike with his raised right arm, flashing the man a feral grin as the followup elbow closes in -- only to be brushed aside with another sweep of his arm and simultaneous withdrawal.
Though it's only a temporary one -- as Iori's quick to close in with another punch. Or two, as the case may be -- one straight punch targeting the ribs he'd grazed earlier, another rocketing up towards Sagat's jaw. "GURAAAH! GURAAOH!"

COMBATSYS: Sagat blocks Iori's Strong Punch.

The Mighty Thai's defense finally holds when Iori's attack comes at Sagat. The Tiger's massive arms are brought up to defend his chest and head. Iori's fists will meet the solid wall that is Sagat's forearms. When the Tiger deflects the blows, he will duck down and grunt and growl as he tries to force some strength into his arms and into his legs. He will quickly reach out towards Iori and attempt to grapple him. If successful, Sagat will twist on the balls of his feet and hurl Iori over his shoulder! If he's unsuccessful, than... Sagat will probably be feeling the pain.

COMBATSYS: Iori interrupts Tiger Carry from Sagat with Yumebiki.

Iori             0/-------/---====|=======\====---\1            Sagat

One could easily make a crack about Iori's disrespect for authority, or how he'd claim no man can hold him down... but suffice to say, Kyo Kusanagi's rival has other plans at the moment. When Sagat's arms reach out for a grab, Iori jerks sharply to the side, striking Sagat's nearest arm aside with an elbow. By this point, he's already in range to land a hard overhand slash with his left arm -- a slash that's just as quickly reversed as Iori slams the back of his right fist towards Sagat's jaw. "GURAH! GURAAAAAOH!" Not... much of a conversationalist when he's =this= possessed, that much is sure.

Sagat isn't very successful at all against Iori, not today it seems. The Mighty Thai, perhaps, did not train hard enough the past few days and at his usual peak. Perhaps Iori has trained and advanced in his skills since the last time the two fighters met. In either case, the Thai is finding himself absorbing and experiencing a degree of pain he is not comfortable with. He doesn't get the satisfaction of slamming the Half-Blood against the ground as he had hoped. This angers the Tiger. After taking the blows from Iori, The Muay Thai God crouches down and then leaps up into the air, lunging for Iori once more, "TIGERRRRR-" He begins as he flies through the air with his Tiger Crush attack. Upon landing after delivering that blow, he will offer up a number of punches and uppercuts, finally ending in a series of devesting Tiger Uppercuts, "GENOOOCIIIIIDE!"

COMBATSYS: Sagat successfully hits Iori with Tiger Genocide.

Perhaps Iori -has- gotten a lot better... or perhaps Sagat's just waiting for his turn on the pwnage-mobile. Because while Iori may have been lucky -prior- to this point of the fight... he certainly isn't doing so well once Sagat rams a knee into his face. He does try to block it, but to no avail -- not only does Sagat land the punishing knee, but every blow afterward lands upon the unsettled Yagami. Battered backward, his body ratcheting with each blow, the tall redhead nonetheless seems to be weathering the storm a bit better than it might otherwise seem, as after that last uppercut of Sagat's knocks him into the air -- the man still lands on his feet, however unsteadily that may be.
Spitting blood onto the cobblestones, Iori... breaks into laughter. "That's it... that's more like it!" From his feral, psychotic grin... it seems as if the tall man actually -liked- that. And he's charging right back for more, dashing in close for a hard cross punch to the jaw, followed by an underhanded blow to the ribs he'd targeted before. "Guraaaah! GURAAAOH!"

COMBATSYS: Sagat blocks Iori's Strong Punch.

That did feel good. Sagat has to admit that fact. Landing his Tiger Genocide has always been pleasurable for the Tiger. It's an excellent way to release aggression and to try and turn the tide of the fight. The Muay Thai God landed that series of manuevers on many fighters... some were put into the hospital. Others were devestated and it was enough to give Sagat more of an edge. Will it have the same effect here? Obviously Iori is not ready for the hospital bed, as he's coming at Sagat once more. The massive Thai man raises his arms up and and absorbs and deflects the blow from Iori. The other man seems to be going for Sagat's jaw, and Sagat's defense has adjusted to that tactic, some what. As Sagat blocks the other man's blow, he bends at his legs. Once Iori's arm has been shoved aside, Sagat shouts, "TIGERRR UPPERCUT!" And springs forward and upwards. The free arm is stretched out over his head as Sagat's massive form arcs up into the air!

COMBATSYS: Iori fails to interrupt Tiger Uppercut from Sagat with Yumebiki.
- Power hit! -

Sagat will probably enjoy the next hit even more -- for it lands even -better- as planned! Iori had already been advancing with an aim to slash Sagat right back down to the ground, but at that very instant, Sagat's fist just wasn't in the place Iori expected it to be. Consequently, Iori's the recipient of a jaw-first, an all-expenses-paid flight, courtesy of Muay Thai Airlines!
Sailing into the sky, Iori flails to recover, but the hit landed so hard his muscles are starting to twitch. Iori hits the ground =hard= as a result, weathered stone spiderwebbing underneath his back from the impact. He even bounces, slightly, teeth grit in pain. That's what you get for being cocky, Mr. Yagami.

The Tiger Uppercut succeeds again. It's a surprisingly swift and powerful manuever, specifically designed to counter Ryu's Dragon Punch. The Tiger utilizes it often in his matches and this match was no exception. Iori gets the distinct pleasure of living through it. It's devestating in the Tiger Genocide combination of moves. However it's distinctly effective all on it's lonesome. When Sagat lands, he continues to press the assault against the Halfblood. As Iori lays there, Sagat rushes towards him to deliver a punishing sweeping kick!

COMBATSYS: Iori fails to interrupt Medium Kick from Sagat with Oniyaki.

Sweeping kick. It's probably a -bad- thing that Iori had snapped back to his feet, deciding to remain low in anticipation of an attack closing down from overhead. Remaining low... so that he could uncoil into a double-helix of flame. It's a =very= bad thing, in fact, as Sagat's crushing blow crashes into the Orochi halfblood's guard, utterly brushing him aside like a bad habit, sweeping him sideways and sending him faceplanting into the courtyard walls. The *wham* resounds throughout the silenced castle -- and Iori falls onto his back, arms splayed to either side, utterly dazed and confused.

And punishing the kick was! It had the effect that Sagat intended. The Muay Thai Tiger feels the crushing blow slam into his opponent and a smirk instantly forms on the aged and weathered warrior's visage. A wave of satisfaction comes over the Muay Thai God when he turns his head to regard Iori sprawled out against the ground. The Thai's arms cross over his ruined chest and his head is downcast as he looks at his fallen opponent. After a moment he just grunts and turns his head to try and find the official that took his coat. Sagat's ready for his tour now.

COMBATSYS: Sagat has ended the fight here.
