Christmas Bash - Match 8 - Tough Man Fight

Description: The Chaotic Christmas Bash PPV held by Duck King, Match 8 - Clark Steel vs. Heavy D! at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. Toughness for the win. (Winner: Heavy D!)

Pay Per View. Usually, such shows highlight the pinnacle of their sport...or at least the most marketable nuggets of it. And that is what you come upon as you walk through the halls of the MGM Grand, toward the arena mostly used for boxing spectacles. Vegas seems like a perfect place for a PPV match, too, espeicially considering the circumstances of the fight.

The arena is packed, a full house surrounding the spotlighted boxing ring in the center, currently only occupied by a singular ring announcer, holding the suspended cieling mic. "LADIES AND GENTLEMAN, WELCOME TO THE MGM GRAND. IT'S TIME FOR OUR MAIN EVENT! THIS MATCH HAS BEEN SCHEDULED AS A TOUGH-MAN FIGHT, AND IS PART OF THE WORLDWIDE EVENT KNOWN AS THE CHAOTIC.....CHRISTMAS.....BASH!!" The crowd erupts at this, people rooting and standing on their feet as the niceties begin. "INTRODUCING FIRST...."

o/` DON'T CALL IT A COMEBACK! I'VE BEEN WORKING FOR YEARS!... o/` As is customary for fights at this level, entrance music is provided. Not quite the spectacle you'd fight at a pro wrestling event, but still, one must have appropriate music to enter to. And while straight up rap is not Heavy D!'s music of choice, the song is somewhat fitting. Marching down by his lonesome, his usual band of friends/trainers from Metro City left behind, the boxer warms up, jabbing in the air as he makes his way down the aisle and pulls himself up into the ring. Slipping between th ropes, he starts bouncing on his foes, making sure he's limber and ready for the fight. Now all that's left his his opponent.

Lights, glitz and glamour was what it was all about in these televised matches. You had to have all the shiny things to keep the viewer's attention, and make it all the more sensational, driving fans into an uproar so loud you could barely hear the announcer on the mic. So it's no surprise when the crowd's fanatic yelling, hooting and hollering dies down a little, and the announcer has a chance to call on the other contender in this so-called Tough Man fight, the second the big man's foot lands on the ramp leading down into the square, small explosions of glitter take place, lance dance about, and some random piece of rock music comes on, with heavy guitar riffs and such.
Clark, dressed as he usually is, complete with black ball cap and dark shades, doesn't really do much other than mosey at an almost leisurely pace, alone, with his hands in his pockets down the rap, looking about at the crowd that has decided to pay for the privledge to see the fight first hand. Not one to at least do -something- in these situations, Clark, before he slides under the ropes into the ring, raises both of his hands to the crowd, turning in place... and then, in a daring move, tosses his cap up off his head, slides up under the ropes, then catches the hat before it has a chance to land. He makes a grand swipe of his hat at the crowd, before resettling it onto his head, then turning to meet his opponent, hands going back into his pockets. He looks over the man, and then gives him a perceptable, though small nod of respect, before looking back to the announcer for what's next.

HeavyD gives a nod to Clark as soon as he slips in before he goes back into his warm up routine. The announcer's explanations don't do much else aside from laying down the general rules. Which...are remarkably similar to the usual rules of SNF-style fights. The only difference being the more standard place of fighting, suited to both D!'s boxing style and Clark's wrestling-focused one. In any case, with explanations aside, and introductions made, the fight is just about ready to go. Both are herded into opposite corners until the bell sounds. Leaning against the red post, D! keeps a good glare transfixed on Clark, ready to go as soon as the bell sounds out.

Doing a very good impression of a statue, Clark simply stands there with his hands in his pockets as the announcer does his job, whipping the crowd up more and giving them both some history and the like to make both fighters more 'real', in a sense, the crowd more able to like them and what not. Both men had good stories, so it was simply a matter of opinion on which you liked better. The Ikari didn't know too much of the other man, so he listens somewhat during that phase, and then listens more so when the rules are explained. A simple nod is given to those, and then he steps into his corner, head slowly craning in a circle to get it limber, arms doing much the same. Then the bell sounds, signaling the start of the fight, and Clark... takes a few steps forward, slides into his usual fighting stance, hands out in front, legs braced... and does nothing. Or well, he seems not to be doing anything. But in truth, he's sizing D! up and letting him have the first real strike, so as to be able to find out more about the man than just his backstory. His style, his rhythm... learning these things fast would be a key to victory here, so for now, he just watches.

Well, if Clark does nothing, D! can't just stand there and do nothing himself, can he? He has to actually give the crowd something to know that the fight's began! However, D! knows that Clark isn't just sitting back because he's lazy. He's scouting the boxer. There's only one solution D! can see for that. Rushing forward, he charges at the wrestler, left arm wound back. As soon as he's near Clark, he snaps out...well, not the heavy, one-punch knockout strike such a wide windup would have entailed. Nope, instead he lays out light, stinging punches, trying to find openings in Clark's stance to exploit for later. Clark has one way of scouting, D! has his own.

Watching more on D!'s footwork as the boxer approaches him, Clark isn't too able to dodge the barrage of light punches that come at him, or at least not all of them, but the big Ikari isn't about to let a few of the man's probes go unchecked. The punches impact against him arms and chest, causing a few grunts of pain, but as the attacks begin to trail, Clark moves in with his own strike. Crouching low suddenly, he'll seek to ram his shoulder up into D's midsection, and if he manages to hit, he'll simply keep going, pushing the man upwards, hands grasping at his waist, and then throwing the boxer over his shoulder, onto the mat behind him

D!'s not quite quick enough to stop the surprisingly swift man from driving his shoulder into him. Grunting and letting out a blast of air at the gutshot, he finds himself lifted up by the waist and slung over by the merc. However, D!'s not about to let himself get taken that easily. Slipping out of the grasp, the boxer flips over and lands on his feet, quickly backpedaling a bit. He gives Clark a good hard look before he slips into his stance again, fists in front of his face, feet spread apart for balance. Now that he's got a good read on Clark, it's time to get serious...

Surprising... the man seemed to know how to absorb a lot of kinetic energy from attacks... no ordinary fight, this is. Though he'd come across such things before. He'd just need to see if he could overcome it, now. As he feels D! slip out of his hold, he's quick to jump forward and then spin in place... though it looks like the man didn't press on a counter, and is instead sizing him up a little, now. Well, Clark knew just as much as D!, how to counter such things. Pressing off from the mat, he begins to rush at D! swiftly, hands outstretched, seeking to make a grapple...

Clark grinds to a halt in front of D!, hands gripping him by the waist again. Hoisting upwards, he more or less seems to be tossing the man into the air... except, the real attack comes as D's falling. Turning in place, so more of the crowd can get a look at the attack, he once again grabs onto D!'s falling form, and at the same time, moves into a crouch, one leg extended, a knee prominently displayed. Then, without much fanfare, he'll simply DRIVE D!'s back into his knee roughly, before shoving him off and skipping backwards away a little, adopting his stance again and allowing for the man to stand back up.

Alas, D! seems to be unable to slip out of that grapple, struggling his best to wrest himself away from Clark's hands...then he's tossed up. Unable to shift his momentum away, he ends up driven down onto Clark's knee, his back bending in a way it shouldn't. Dumped unceremoniously, the wrestler groans, seemingly shattered by the move. Slow to get up, he strains as he gets up into a crouch. And then....his speed returns once more, the boxer rushing forth with a swiftness one shouldn't see from a man dropped onto his back from such a height. He doesn't skimp on the power this time, driving his fists toward Clark's sides with all his strength as he snaps out alternating hooks, climbing up the merc's ribs before finishing it off with one driving straight punch into the capped man's shaded face.

No, he wasn't quite expecting a man who just had his spine bent in a direction it wasn't supposed to to be moving quite that fast, though he does indeed make an attempt to dodge, even if it fails. Dual fists slam into his sides, causing the mercenary to buckle over, even as more fists are rained onto his chest, making loud grunts of pain at each blow, and then finally a hit against his face. His entire upper body rocks backwards... but doesn't quite tip all the way back. Instead, he snaps back straight, and... seems a bit miffed, somehow? His gloved hand snaps up and attempts to grab at the boxer's wrist, and if successful, he'll try and rotate the arm in an arm lock, before twisting even further, while applying a sharp shove to the boxer's shoulder, which should more or less throw him to the ground.

COMBATSYS: Clark successfully hits HeavyD with Fast Throw.

The arm lock seem s a bit too unavoidable at this point, D! having expended much of his energy on that heavy barrage. He was expecting Clark to drop back after that...but alas, that doesn't happen. Instead, D!'s arm is grabbed, twisted, and then unceremoniously shoved down, with the boxer following suit as he flops chest first into the ground. "NGHh...." Grunting, the boxer doesn't bother getting up from the ground. Rather, he simply swings from where he is, aiming a hard right hook right up at Clark's knee in hopes of taking away his base for a while.

Okay, not expecting an attack from below, either, or he simply isn't moving fast enough. Either way, the hook hits him square in the knee, which of course isn't exactly a fun place to be hit in. With a loud shout, he stumbles back into the ropes, hands supporting himself on the bungees as he winces in pain. The pain does fade, though, and he's able to get back onto his feet, but he's switched his stance, now, so the bad knee is more back, more protected. He stamps his bad leg against the mat in a show of 'Still works!' without actually saying anything, and then seems to sit back and wait again, though this time he adds in a motion of his hand, in a 'come get me' gesture.

The crowd eats up Clark's insistance that his leg still works, cheers backing the mercenary as he taunts and gestures at the boxer. D! knows it's dangerous to simply rush in again, but he'd rather not simply leave Clark to warm up and get his leg back on good footing again. Slowly, he pulls himself back to his feet, getting reoriented before he focuses back on his foe. Sweeping in, the boxer circles about his opponent, looking for those openings again...with his stance flipped, the weak points may be less obvious. In any case, as soon as D!'s got a second to scan the new set up, he steps in with a nice left-handed haymaker, the overhand punch aimed straight at Clark's shoulder.

D! rushes in, and Clark doesn't even make an attempt to dodge, instead taking the punch - and oh, is it painful? From the yell of pain he gives, you can probably guess that yes, it was, in fact, painful - on his shoulder without a fuss. Or rather, that would seem to be what it looks like, except that no sooner as the punch landed, than Clark is already in motion. He crouches just a little, and then rushes at his opponent, attempting to hook an arm around his middle, and then keep on running, towards the other side of the ring with a loud cry...

Hooking his arm around the man's middle, Clark just launches into what could only be considered as a barrage of pain. With his arm so around Heavy D!'s middle, he runs to the other side of the ring, and just before he gets to the edge, he more or less throws the big man against the ropes with enough force to make him rebound, and then catch him into a forced run from all the built up momentum. And Clark's right there as D! comes running back, straight at him. Once D! reaches the mercenary, Clark wraps his arms around the man's middle once again, and then with a loud, almost furious cry, he uses all of his strength and the momentum built up behind his opponent to lift him up, over, and then down onto the mat harshly in one hell of a suplex. Clark then stands right back up, his thigh muscles tensing enough to let him simply rise up from his knees... and he simply can't help himself. It's not so much arrogance or ego that forces him to do it, so much as it's a sense of showmanship. He keeps his back to D!, and then raises his arms up high to the crowd in a show of victory, whipping the crowd into a louder frenzy.

The series is painful. After all, getting slingshotted out of the ropes, picked up, and then driven down with the massive suplex like that is not something many people can take lightly. And D! hurt from that, this is true. However...somehow, someway, the boxer is able to resist the slam, picking himself up off the ground with a strained look. He's been injured by it, yes, but he also has that look of determination, as if totally unwilling to let that attack finish him. "Nghh....my turn," he states simply, eyes drawn to points as he steps back. Cocking his right arm, he charges up all of his energy into it, a faint glow of dull white surrounding it. Finally...with one big step forward, he stomps his left foot down, twists, and snaps out that right hand, driving it toward Clark's face. As the punch reaches full extension, he releases all that built-up chi, the energy exploding like a shell toward the merc. Even if the punch whiffs, the'll have to deal with the blast of the Magnum too.

COMBATSYS: HeavyD successfully hits Clark with D. Magnum.

With his back turned like that... and with how D! had more or less rolled with his suplex, what by all rights should've put most people out... Clark has no chance at all. He turns, though, to face the punch... pretty much head on. The punch connects, and then the chi burst connects. It's one hell of a punch, and his yell of pain is anything but 'for pretend'. And at this point right here, the big mercenary is going to simply operate on instinct. A last show of the most bottom amounts of his strength, the stuff fighters only get from being through a lot of tough matches, like this one. As his head snaps back, his hand rises to grab at the fist, and with that last bit of strength, hoist himself up, and attempt to toss his legs around D!'s head, twisting his own body in the process. If all goes well, he'll simply use his body weight, gravity, and a sharp tug on the ropes to perform a Frakensteiner on D, lifting him out the ring and onto the square blow... and either way, even if it doesn't work, Clark will likely fall out of the ring anyway...

With pain from that suplex to still worry about, and most of his energy expended in that finishing attack, D! can't quite find it in him to stop Clark's final gasp. Clutched around the head by Clark's legs, he ends up pulled over by that flip and driven head first to the ground outside of the ring. Spiked by the drop, D! stays vertical for at least a good 3 seconds before he flops over, groaning in pain at his compacted head and spine. Still, the fact that he manages to get up after that still, however shaky, is more than can be said for Clark. Despite the strange finish, the announcer signals for the bell, leading the crowd into cheers at the amazing match.

"HERE IS YOUR WINNER......HEAVY!....D!!!!!" The announcement echos through the arena, over the noise of the crowd. Barely able to recognize it himself, D! managed to lift up a fist, acknowledging his win before he slumps against the ring, clutching his neck with one hand. "NGhh...damn..." he groans, trying his best not to move it too much.

COMBATSYS: HeavyD has ended the fight here.
